but he see's how great of a man cove is and it kills him more than anything

he begs you not to do this

"y/n please! be rational!" baxter's fingers dig into his palms. he's trying to keep calm, but he's heard the best and worst news of his life.

you sit across from him, hands in your lap and crying. "i am. i... i love cove, and he's amazing. but you are everything i want."

baxter gapes, watching you cry with wide eyes. "i tried to forget about you, but I just can't.. I love you. I love you so much more than him!" you sob, hands covering your face.

baxter's hands are shaking.

he's happy to hear that you love him but you're engaged.

you're supposed to be married soon, all that's left is to pick out your outfits and the dance lessons and now...

baxter swallows. "and you've... thought about it?"

and when you walk through his door, with tears in your eyes he wraps his arms around you as you cry and tell him about how it went.

cove was distraught, to say the least. and after much crying and "why"'s, cove stopped crying and was just mad...

a quiet man's scorn is a scary thing..

"get out." cove doesn't look at you, he can't. if he does he'll actually combust and explode.

you gape, "..what?"

cove looks at you, suddenly enraged by your oblivion. "I said get out!" cove stands up, hands fisted at his side. you didn't believe he'd hit you or harm you in anyway, but you've very rarely seen him angry.

"why are you sitting there looking dumb? you just said you love someone else! our fucking WEDDING planner at that!" cove yells. "what? did you wanna stay and play happy family with me while you fuck him!?"

cove laughs humorlessly. "I can't believe you... don't you wanna be with him? you should just leave." what cove says next shakes you.

"or maybe you want to fuck him in our bed, in our home!" cove is crying again, frustrated and angry.

you start crying, "no! i-" you don't know what you're trying to say, if anything at all and your sobs cut you off.

cove storms to your bedroom as you cry. when you finally get enough strength in your legs again you go upstairs to see him roughly packing your things into the bags and suitcases.

you shake, starting to grab some of your other things and packing them shakily into the bags.

cove starts hauling the suitcases to the car, quiet as can be.

once most things that can fit into your car are closed up, cove stands on the porch of your home. or what used to be your home.

you stand in front of him, shaking.

cove stopped crying awhile ago, and his anger fell off him awhile ago too. now he just looks calm, but if you know him worth anything than you know that once the door closes he'll break.

cove hands you his engagement ring. "sell it, or keep it, propose to your new boyfriend."

cove hands you his half of the $20 bill. you gape at him, god you made a fool of yourself today. "throw it away. burn it. I don't care anymore, so don't hold onto it."

cove crosses his arms, "sell the ring. i don't want it."

cove hands you his engagement ring. "sell the rings, i don't want mine. marry your new boyfriend instead."

he slams the door.

baxter lets you weep. he doesn't feel upset that you're mourning the relationship, you've known him for 15 years and even if you wanted for him, you loved cove everyday until now..

when your family cuts you off and distances themselves, he watches you fall apart.

you just got off the phone with your ma, who chewed you out for choosing baxter of cover. he could hear her yells through the phone since you had it on speaker.

you were going to grocery shop together and cook for a date, but with your shaking hands and puffy eyes, you're in no shape to do anything.

so he lets you cry.

when miranda calls you, he watches the shock on your face morph to shame and pure emptiness.

miranda is screaming, cussing you out for hurting cove.

"why did you have to ruin everything for him?! what's so good about him?!"

you just cry, mumbling sorry's in between miranda's yells.

he holds your hand while you curl in on yourself, tears soaking into the rug under your feet...

baxter helps you pack away the last of your furniture in the house.

when he first entered it, he could tell the love had been ripped off the walls...

there was so much decoration missing.

there weren't any pictures on the walls.

in fact, he found your photo album and your sister takes it from his hands, not looking or speaking to him as she packs it into her bag..

many of the photos he saw were of cove with you and your family. too many memories you won't want and will hide in a dusty corner anyway if you did keep it.

he just carries the boxes to the u-haul, watching the house bleed with everything that comes out of it.

something about the dark house in the distance kills him, and he sits silently in his shame...

over the next few months you finally stop crying.

the phone calls stop coming and you're cheer comes back.

it's definitely different compared to when you were younger, and a far cry from what it was when you were still with cove, but you both act like it never happened.

maybe you're deluding yourselves, but when baxter wakes up and his heart bumps in his chest, it increases his anxiety and he feels like his throat is closing up..

baxter throws the covers off himself, getting up to wash up and find you.

whenever silence comes to him, the shame always finds him...

after changing into new clothes, baxter goes to find you in the kitchen, and when you greet him with a brilliant smile and a kiss, the shame melts away.

this is okay.

baxter stirs, warmed up by your hand caressing his face.

he blinks through blurry vision, smiling as he admires you. "good morning.."

you smile, running your finger along the angle of his nose. "g'morning handsome..." you lean forward n lay a kiss on his cheek.

baxter lets the warmth of your palm sink into his skin, sleep creeping back into him.

but when baxter comes home from work he found you crying softly on the couch, trying to wipe away your tears before baxter could see but it was useless.

you show him derek's message, and once he finishes reading that, you show him one more...

u know i think a big issue with third parties in smash bros and the series focusing almost entirely on third parties these days (aside from the game becoming a huge corporate copyright mess) is that we hardly ever get Not The Face Of The Series characters anymore

imo something that adds so much fun and flavor to smash bros is like.. the "not absolutely main characters". like jigglypuff, rosalina, robin, greninja, bowser jr, sheik, palutena, meta knight, etc

yeah theyre important to their series, but theyre not mario or link or pikachu. and having characters like that land in such a special place like smash bros gives these characters such a special lasting prescence in nintendo history

but then sakurai realized "wow, adding third parties makes me more money" and threw 90% of the series' uniqueness and passion out the window

like almost every new character in recent time is just... The Main Face Of Their Series. and its kinda boring tbh. we just have a boatload of one character series now with a character thats kinda just, whatever

like idk anything about street fighter, tekken, and fatal fury. but ive looked at these games rosters and they have SO MANY NEAT CHARACTERS! street fighters got chun li and juri and an ohohohoh rich lady, tekken has some sorta robot android girl, fatal fury has tons of cool characters

those sure are uh. those sure are characters i guess. honestly the first time i saw terry in smash i thought he was an alt costume of ken. these sure are regular dudes with regular designs i guess. of all the character designs in video games, these sure are some of them

like how am i supposed to care about sora when aqua is right there. how am i supposed to be invested in cloud when vivi and freya are there.

imo the most interesting characters on the fighters pass are joker, min min, and pyra/mythra (i adore byleth so much 3h is a masterpiece but i do think they shouldve gone with edelgard overall, even if im a golden deer fan forever, byleth is one of the best parts of ultimate to me 100%)

joker is great because instead of just being jack frost the mascot of SMT, or instead of using every persona ever, hes just... joker from persona 5 with arsene. hes not the representative of an entire series, hes just the main character of persona 5 and i LOVE THAT

min min is amazing because she won the arms popularity tournament at the end of the games support cycle. rather than just using spring man, they went with the characters fans loved the most

pyra and mythra are so much more interesting than rex and really represent xenoblade 2 so perfectly and were the best possible choice by far

like they just have so much more Flavor and Passion than just. heres the kingdom hearts guy doing everything youd ever expect him to do i guess.

and i know itd be dumb to expect them to put in a third party side character over the main character, but i think it raises the overall issue that modern smash bros is "quantity over quality". the roster feels messy, the single player feels empty, the game releases without things like home run contest and spirit descriptions (and still hasnt added spirit descriptions even though the fans wrote their own at this point lol)

so honestly i think the ultimate solution is just to reboot the series and focus on fleshing out each series

put nintendo first above all else. flesh out all the nintendo series. give zelda reps that arent the triforce trio, give kirby some modern rep, freshen up fire emblem and pokemon (these two series should still have a lot of reps, but more variety beyond swords and gen 1), rework outdated movesets like luigi and ganondorfs, give pikmin alph as an echo and a pikmin 4 rep

this was the slogan of smash bros. this is what its supposed to be

THEN we can talk about third parties... but honestly like? fleshed out third parties. put sonic first, and then add shadow. then maybe go to mega man, and have protoman or bass as an echo. then the next series. take it one step at a time rather than give us half empty shells of these series

if all smash does anymore is focus on main face "hype" characters, its going to feel like playstation all stars battle royale in no time tbh. honestly it already kinda does and its awful. stop doing that sakurai

also prioritize story mode + more single player content + trophies/spirits with descriptions so that the game isnt doomed to die when its online service inevitably ends please

that is one of my biggest and dearest wishes for the switch 2. smash bros needs its whimsy and soul back

can i be super low key and say dodie's when it rains/its not living if its not with you? its just such a beautiful loop and i love it so much. i dont listen to her as much as i used to but her work is so beautiful. especially the Somewhere In The Crowd cover. which seems dumb bc ive never legitimatly finished la la land but anyway.

i do recommend that though. its on the spot idk. theres an 1 hr loop of it and its SUCH a good loop and i love it so much. considering i love both of those songs deeply. Week 2 of my daily art project: OCtober!

this week was definitely more rough than the last one. i still feel happy with a lot of these designs, but drawing these were a lot more rough than the last week.

costume reasonings under the cut!

-ive shown off Broken Sky before this, she was chosen as Zeus from Hades because shes a thunderstorm of a woman, being dressed as the god of thunder just made sense for me.

-Viola and Martha are basically a lesbian duo who love eachother dearly, so having them dress up as what would basically be their inverses was fun. so yeah, luigi and king boo.

-Pcal is a dumbas catgirl i made for my girlfriend. so obviously i draw the dumb catgirl as the iconic dumb cat girl, neko ar- I MEAN! Arcueid Brunestud. shes an iconic fighting game character and i just thought itd be fun to represent her. im totally not a dipshit with this choice no. totally not.

-Johnathan Ilk is this weird guy. like scary weird. hes not ultimately trying to be harmful, but hes fucked up. he also has an inate connection to the forest, as he skins several dozen animals a day. making his costume be Leshy from Inscryption was basically a perfect idea in my head.

-okay so. chese is weird because its so specific. its a deltarune au character, ill explain. Chese is a robot, and its name stands for Chaos and Havoc Era Service Engine, so itsjust. a chaotic robot! making it based on Junkil REDUX, a robot body form (i think) whos also about chaos and whatever, it was a good idea in my head! i think.

-Megan and Souble are also a duo but its the same kinda inverse situation. i chose the two characters from clash of clans of all games, because one is a red cloaked black haired human thunder wizard and another is a beige clothed goblin rogue, but megan is a red cloaked red haired human rogue, and souble is a beige clothed goblin weather wizard! it was a fun inversion i liked. also fun fact, i actually used the color pallates of the opposite characters for their outfits in this drawing! megan has the colors of souble's outfits, and souble has the colors of megan's outfits!

-day 14 is the weekend, and on the weekends im planning to draw the ocs of my friends, so i chose a discord friend of mines bee oc. she asked for Jelly to be drawn as Buzzinga from My Singing Monsters, so it was p fun to. do this. i dont got much to say here tho.

Seeing DISCO fly like that orbiting the ship is so pretty. Lorca does captaincy pretty well so far Or at least definitely holds that air Ok so these camera cuts dont feature zooms every shot - feels infinitely better. But I dont imagine that will last. It's so odd - I want to like Lorca more but he has such a sinister air about him - which is intentional im sure. curious what his lore is. I wonder where his tribble tribbles off to Nice to see lorca caring about the purpose of his ship - science haha this is the first time ive felt evil untrustworthiness in a main starship captain damn saru just like TALK to burnham? i saw your look at her when Lorca said she's to stay. These effects are so nicee Oml how Doc Hugh just swiped the PADD's contents into the holographic screen like that, sexy its so odd to see the camera out of focus in shots that should be in focus i really love how these screens look

Kol talking is so nice to hear his voice and how klingon roles off his speech sounds relaly good Ok in these klingon scenes, they really should stop the zooms. it makes it all feel like cutscenes in a videogame. such pretty beaminggg Im curius to see how they can retain this tension Ugh seeing DISCO move like that is so pretyyyy Dude time and time again, Trek could be such a good game series. theres so much to do if they can write a rich enough basis and objective course. I know Star Trek: Resurgence is a thing, but why is it the ONLY thing like it that exists for Trek? These things really make me wonder. And make me worry I really hope Trek doesnt fade out. I recognise another aspect of why I feel confused about Burnham's character is that it hasnt been made apparent to me really her amiable or decent rooting into the crew to care about them due to all of the animosity the show was borne with. L'Rell's eyes look so gooddd Damn she was into torturing u huh Damn you just shot her like that damn poor Tyler. I love how solid the phasers look in hand I love the detail in the sets marvelous job. oml the way DISCO could just spin like that and pull DBZ teleport lmaoooooo Kol saying "wtf is it doing" lmaooo I worry that the sensour on the klingon ship is so bright and glowy would just give away its position to the klingons It's a little odd how the DISCO spins before teleportation haha intersting though Stamets said I love you but had like no gravity ack The way Stamets shakes his head side to side like that nakedly without camera effect or blured movement looked laughable. this kind of stuff just really impedes the show. when its easy to fix. The way Kol picks his teeth with the badge - the way its shot is not the best but ill say Burnham's line delivery saying "I'm the one who killed T'Kuvma" was actually really good and strong. man this show has bits and pieces of being rather fair in performance. but it gets assaulted by really amateur/dumb/distasteful constructive choice in the episodes

Kol is destroyed just like that?? that felt so fast with very little impact? Kol never really felt menacing is the thing. The scariest the klingons felt in this show so far is literally episode one. when Burnham meets this fully armoured klingon during her space flight. It was a literlaly BEAUTIFULLY DELICIOUS moment of that reveal and that bird of prey it was actually WONDERFULLY done. where has that gone. i still dont care at all for ash x burnham. itd be more compelling if they were good friends. without romance.

i feel like nothing really significant happened with Kol gone now like nothing at all. There is a certain curse that Star Trek has. That is loses a lot of steam when it attempts to deviate from TOS. I mean, i understand TOS is the essence of trek forever and always. but it also makes me sad that trek doesnt really stand on its own with much semblance of strength without TOS. It's another reason why Trek feels so small. Cargo Bay is so pretty. Lorca being humble is nice. saying thank you? nice. The filming of this episode is literlaly better. the camera direction is not done in such an annooyingly impatient jittery way as past episodes I like how we just appreciate the cargo bay environment KLINGON BOOBS. i didnt think id see that. oml dont tell me you have a stockholm syndrome thang going on :( wow thats the first time i ever seen a naked klingon. my dumb ass half an hour before i need to be done packing: reconsidering my choices in both what i want to bring but also what i dont want to bring. its two weeks it literally will be fine if i dont bring everything ever. i JUST need to bring clothes, the food, and my art stuff.

like sure itd be NICE if i bring my pot and my other stuff but wtf am i gonna use it for. i dont need it right now, its better to leave it for another time. at most i could bring my singular pot im super excited about for some reason but i really dont need anything else. i ahve stuff at home and if i know myself right i wont be doing any baking at all, ill just sit on my laptop disassociating and waiting christmas to be over so i can come back here and get on with my life

((my bestie tells me i have a thing for cats and foxes. which, that lines up pretty well with my love of kit darling and carol tea. i also apparently love the ''person who likes to steal'' rope? which also lines up. my dnd character in my bestie's campaign is a thief.

((though if you want my opinion, i think i gravitate towards characters who have something deeply wrong with them ((or characters who feel like they might have something deeply wrong with them. ((all these characters--with the exception of homura--are super happy-go-lucky characters who usually have this SUPER happy disposition about them.
