even though ahsoka is my favourite star wars character of all time, i have a feeling i’m just not going to like the ahsoka show. i have watched this character develop since i was a child, i grew up with her, i relate to her a lot. i was very much the target demigraphic for ahsoka’s character when she first came on-screen.
Aside from one scene with Rex to confirm he does, in fact, know that she survived Malachor, I don’t expect it to explore a story I really want to see her in. I know where I would take the direction of Ahsoka’s story if I were writing it — explore her young adult years hiding from the empire, and the mental health themes that come with it, deal with her survivor’s guilt that comes from being one of the only ones left who can protect and train force-sensitive children, even though she had forsaken the jedi order herself. As an (almost) fully trained Jedi, she’s pretty much carrying the only legacy the Jedi have (aside from other survivors like Quinlan Voss), but it’s a legacy she feels unworthy to carry because she gave it up. Explore her journey being able to forgive the Order only after they’re all dead and gone. Explore her how her approach to Jedi matters changes and why she comes to the mindset of being able to aid Ezra and Kanan. Then learning about Anakin and re-evaluating her time in the Jedi Order all over again. That was her master, the Jedi who trained her, who at one point in time, she held in high regard above all other Jedi, who she once thought was the only Jedi who didn’t let her down…only to realise what he became. Show her realtionship with Obi-Wan in the Rebellion era, the absolute divide between them, his grief, his loss, how his depression took from her the man she once knew, how desperate she is to help Obi Wan, give him any comfort, any hope, only to be forced to walk away all over again because you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped. Show them both dealing with Vader; in different ways; show Obi Wan healing, little by little, at the second chance he gets with Luke and Leia and Ahsoka’s mixed feelings of relief, hope, and regret that they could help him in a way she couldn’t. Explain why Obi Wan never told Luke about her. Show her helping Luke rebuild the Jedi school, giving the Jedi their second chance, their opportunity for redemption, and that is her gift of forgiveness for the Jedi; her reconciliation with the Order. She watches the Jedi younglings, many of whom she rescued and delivered herself; some she’s had a hand in training, and she watches Luke support them, loyally. It is a safe place. And she stays a while, watching to ensure the new school finds its feet, and it does. And there are a new generation of Padawans, and none of them are sent to war. And she allows the creation of the new Jedi Order, and it becomes what the Jedi Order never were for her. And she walks away again, because it is too late for her. Because you don’t get that time back. And she goes on, on her own journey through the galaxy, until she has done her part and, burying Rex at a ripe old age and paying tribute to the fallen of the 332nd, she walks away, again. She journeys on to Mortis, and the Daughter is born again
Of course, that’s just what I want to see from her story. I was the little girl Ahsoka’s journey was aimed at, and growing up alongside her, I think her story is about what it is to grow up, all the difficult parts of it, especially growing up too quickly, and realising the adults aren’t actually the all-perfect people you thought they were. I want to see her story of growing up go into navigating young adulthood, and how to be the adult trying to give something to the children of the word that you never knew yourself. (as a young adult diagnosed with ADHD who never received any support for it in childhood trying to stumble around blindly and build those supports now, who also works with disabled children and wants them to have it easier than I did… there’s just something beautiful and painful about giving someone else something you needed, deserved and never had)
Star Wars has been told by so many people in so many ways and it’s still being told, I think it’s the closest modern-day equivalent we have to the oral storytelling traditions of the past, like Arthuriana and the Greek mythology, and every iteration of Shakespeare’s works.
With copyright law being the way it is, stories that are told collectively by many people, across different movies, but still owned by one for-profit company, I think our storytelling ability has become relegated into official “canon” (for profit) stories and “non-canon” (fanworks, and generally not for profit) stories. That distinction has more nuance to it, of course, there are some for profit star wars stories that are not canon, EU stuff, for example, but generally speaking when a story is so expansive and told in so many ways by so mang people, it gets to a point where I think we just shouldn’t expect the lore of that story to be internally consistent. The insistence in the star wars fandom of what’s canon and not-canon, whether the last jedi contradicted the ahsoka novel, etc…. It’s basically just a by-product of copyright law. It seems sad that we distinguish the validity of a particular story by whether or not it was produced for profit, and by how much profit it made.
Anyway, all this is to say that I expect the Ahsoka series to serve as a sequel to Star Wars rebels, which feels like a choice I would not make - she seems the wrong character for a rebels sequel to focus on, and it seems the wrong era for an Ahsoka story to focus on, especially if it deals with themes of her dealin with Anakin’s fall (since their fight on Malachor was many years prior and I would hate for her character growth to be stagnant during that time) and it seems, as a live-action series, the wrong medium for BOTH and Ahsoka series and a rebels sequel. I have no idea what possessed then to do it in live-action and I will continue being annoyed by this choice.
But in all likelihood, the design choices going into the Ahsoka story will be targeting an audience other than the one Ahsoka’s character was initially created for. Because the story is made with different creative ideas in mind. I know where I would take the story, and perhaps I will write that story, just for myself, and maybe one day I might right an EU-type novel or graphic novel or comic or whatever, or maybe it only exists as a fanwork. And that’s okay. Different writers create difgerent stories with different themes in mind. And I will not approach the Ahsoka show expecting it to be the way I would tell her story. Because characters mean differeng things to different people, and all those things are meaningful.
We make our own meaning with stories, and I will keep making mine with the story of Ahsoka, and other people will keep making theirs and they will be different, and contradict each other. And that’s okay.
That’s just humans telling stories. That’s just what we do.

Virus!Eclipse design for my fic 'And So It Goes'
Design notes under the cut ^^
Tumblr media
Eclipse is mainly based on Baloon World Eclipse as well as the Puppet and MXES. It is primarily red to contrast with MXES since it's a virus and MXES is some sort of protection code
Eclipse is red instead of purple to differentiate between when animatronics are possessed by the vanny virus vs when their possessed by Eclipse itself
I like to imagine all dca variants have paws. The idea of them having human feet scares me
I've always associated this kind of long tailcoat with a corset (or corset like clothing) with bunnies for some reason. No idea where that idea's from, maybe becuse they kind of look like rabbit ears
Eclipse has bells attached to his ribbons but you can't really see them from that angle
Eclipse has faint hypnosis swirls in his lure state so that people can't really tell what's happening and assume he just has white eyes like Sun. It also likes to swing its 'tentacles' around to desorient prey
Eclipse's tenticles/wires are not a part of his body, there can be as many or as few as you'd like. They can also form from objects or the ground
As Eclipse is a digital entity, it is able to alter it's body on a whim. His standard form is shown above, it always has four arms
The average person reaches Eclipse's hips, most Animatronics reach his middle-lower torso. However, Eclipse is able to alter its size which is usually based on trust, it'll make itself bigger if it feels threatened and smaller if it feels safe

something about Blitz gearing up for a fight, because he thought stolas would fight back. Blitz has had this wrong idea of Stolas in his head this whole time: untouchable, uncaring, playing with his feelings. If you only see the scenes of interaction with Blitz and block out every scene of turmoil and emotion, it's kind of easy to see things from Blitz's perspective.
Because Stolas really is supremely stronger than Blitz, and that's confirmed to him in Truth Seekers when he sees his real demon form. That confession scene to Blitz was literally all wrong: too soft, too caring. Obviously a sexual roleplay of some kind and if he got the wrong idea then he was the fool.
When he understands what Stolas is saying his first reaction is anger but specifically at Stolas saying "that's enough to know what this is" because...why the fuck can you choose for both of us what this is? aren't you gonna give me like two seconds to consider this? You're not even gonna let me express myself bc my opinion is worth nothing to you etc.
So he gets angry about something more pressing that comes to him quicker than understanding, which is Stolas' usual treatment of imps in his presence or how he feels smaller and used.
Then he straight up gears up for a fight with "Let's go!". What he probably imagined Stolas to say back was some kind of possessive pretentious thing or even to attack him: because Blitz has felt more like his property, at the hands of a puppeteer so much stronger than him.
But that's the thing, he doesn't know how Stolas truly is, how kind he actually is. So just at the very end when he cries he understands that all this image he's built up of him in his head is wrong. not only can he get hurt physically, but emotionally too.

god the start of season 4 when agravaine is shamelessly manipulating arthur, trying to craft him into uther so he's more justified in his hatred of him, trying to isolate arthur from the people he cares about because its not proper or a sign of strength, and the fact that it works !! or it should, it almost does, but agravaine didn't account for merlin. merlin who isn't just a manservant, isn't just a kinda-sorta friend, isn't just an informal advisor, but is arthur's main pillar of support and council, merlin who would never let arthur lock himself away all alone, merlin who pushes arthur to the fucking limit and suffers his rages and his insults just so that arthur knows there's someone there. yeah, fuck, its all well and good that merlin's willing to die for him, but idk for me its the smaller acts of unwavering devotion that make merthur so fucking good.

Concept I have to post before I feel asleep: NRC hosts a Parents' Day for the students' parents to visit their children and everyone is having a relatively fun day with their siblings, every but you. And so you hid yourself in the only place that nobody has a reason to go; Ramshackle. Thing is there's someone else who also has the same line of thought. Leona Kingscholar.
Leona, who is always second to Farena. Always the second prince, never just Leona. Leona, who efforts doesn't mean anything and nobody really tried to understand him, this Leona, who despite being smug and sarcastic all the time, doesn't want to meet his family.
And you both have an interesting chatting while drinking (whatever you want really but I just got back from my cousin's marriage and wine is a really good choice). By the end of the night you may have found you a new bestie or lovers, or whatever you want y'all to be, he feels seen by you and you have someone you can confide in on your darkest hours. This arrangement couldn't be better for the both of you.

ANYTHING FOR YOU TWO!!!!
ok this is gonna be short and mildly insane. i would like everyone to understand that this is pretty much Entirely unfounded & i'm just reading too much into a teeny little thing. however i've convinced myself that this theory is viable against all better judgement
take these mad ramblings with a Monumental grain of salt. im not to be taken seriously ever
so it all boils down to This

the milk carton behind Barnaby's house.
it was added with the last large update, and it Immediately made me lose my mind. it's such a... strange thing to add to the map, which already has Teeny Secrets - along with other choice objects that make me narrow my eyes. but this isn't about them.
The very first thing I thought of when I saw the milk carton was the phrase "no use crying over spilled milk". which, of course, essentially means that there's no point in crying over things you can't change / things already done. There are a couple ways i'm interpreting it with this context
Something is going to happen that Barnaby feels personally responsible for. or is responsible for - either indirectly, or maybe he'll do something terrible. i think it's entirely possible that he might do that possible something for Wally. and again, take this with salt, but Clown has implied through trivia and fun hypotheticals that Barnaby would go to lengths for Wally. and yes, i know. taking evidence from "what would the neighbors do in Among Us" is absurd. IN MY DEFENSE! while the trivia isn't really to be taken seriously, there's always a thought process behind character roles and dynamics and behavior, and that is something that can be (carefully) looked into and applied. like in Among Us, apparently Barnaby would, and i quote, "Barnaby does all the Dirty work if Wally is an Impostor- Anything to help his little Buddy out...". anything to help his little buddy out, huh? like, it's been stated that Barnaby knows things about Wally that no one else does. and it's been mildly implied that he's fairly protective of Wally. and we all know that Wally is getting into some deep shit, and whether he means to or not he's likely gonna fuck everything up for everyone. it's not that big of a leap to speculate that Barnaby might do something drastic/horrible/regret-worthy in Wally's name / for his sake.
2. something terrible is going to happen to Barnaby / directly related to Barnaby, and he's going to be absolutely powerless to do anything about it. though i think that's kind of a given... yeah this section is pretty self explanatory
3. Barnaby is going to go missing. because what used to be on milk cartons? Missing Posters! yes yes i know this one is even more of a reach, since milk cartons didnt have missing posters on them till the 80s, but yk. it's a Thought.
my second thought was "oh ok so when the carton spills, it's curtains for Barnaby." this part of the theory is just me being paranoid that Barnaby is going to wind up kicking the bucket - though i suppose if that were the case, there would be a bucket, not milk. well, if a bucket ever appears, i'm going to start prematurely mourning. Still!
the point is - at some point, that milk is probably gonna spill. it may be just a detail as things get better Worse, or it could be indicative of something terrible happening to / because of Barnaby. the milk spills, Panic Time.
Milk Theory.

Just thinking about Abysswalker Rafayel,,,
Thinking about how he's got you pressed up against the wall, blunt and gloved fingertips digging into the sides of your body. You can hear the stutter in his breath and the way it settles against his mask, desperate to escape. You'd tease him if it weren't for how insistently he's pressing his lips to yours, the phantom sensation of them against you. His tongue traces the shape of your lips over the leather as your mouth hangs open, bringing your arms under his and holding onto his shoulders tightly.
He's right here in your arms, so close yet so far. You wish that his overly complicated clothes would just disappear but it's almost like they aren't even there with the heat radiating off of his body. He's kissing you so desperately and your lips haven't even met yet. You make the mistake of looking into his eyes, drowning in the desire and yearning he can't act on.

None of HMS have a good sleeping schedule.
Heart sleeps a LOT more than Mind and Soul. He usually naps throughout the day, often being asleep more than awake.
Mind will work himself to death. He has to be made to go to sleep or else he will pass out on his desk.
Soul is the worst. He doesn't sleep at all. The only times he does are when he passes out from too much caffeine intake.

The Enemy Within is a really good episode when it comes to Kirk and the Triumvirate's dynamic.
Tumblr media
In it, we have Kirk split in half. The good half, which has all of Kirk's positive traits but is also indecisive, uncertain, and even a little meek in comparison to normal. The bad Kirk is... well, an unpleasant maniac. Aggressive, impulsive, lack of empathy, all traits that most of us fear. And yet without it, without these negative aspects, Kirk isn't Kirk. A Kirk without any of his bad traits is just as incomplete as a Kirk without the good ones. He needs that decisiveness and aggression to push himself as a captain. To act. To command. We saw it in The Corbomite Manuver and this only helps reinforce it.
On the one hand, Kirk's struggling to function. On the other hand, he's still the captain. He can't allow himself to slip. He can't allow himself to show any weakness. Spock outright reinforces that to him, which in this case imo was the absolute worst move but it's absolutely in character for Spock and for this analysis as we'll see in a moment. Kirk is unwilling to relinquish command, so he tries to force himself to continue. But as time goes, his will continues to falter.
Tumblr media
Things really get interesting, however, once they've finally captured the bad Kirk. If you go by production order, this is probably the first time we've had Kirk, Spock, and McCoy in a scene that lasts longer than a few seconds. On the one hand, we have Spock. He delves into how Kirk, without the bad half, is losing his ability to command. He's utterly blunt about it too, which isn't a surprise since this is Spock. The same guy who outright told Kirk not to divulge to the crew the exact details of the situation because it would damage Kirk's captain image and thus provoke a loss of faith by the crew. McCoy practically acts like he's offended on Kirk's behalf. The fact that to him, it sounds like Spock would dare even question Jim and his command ability speaks a LOT. Of course it's Spock's job and Kirk outright told him to do so if he saw him slipping, but McCoy doesn't know that nor would he really care in this instance. He tries to tell Jim that he can still command like he is, but it's clear that they all know that that's not true.
So we have Spock pointing out the facts as they are and telling Kirk that he won't be able to captain soon, his logic utterly sound. Then we have McCoy getitng mad and denying it at first but ultimately admitting to Jim that Spock was right while also assuring him that having these negative traits is not bad. Kirk has his mind telling him one thing, but can't get over his feelings about it after what he's seen. He can't ignore the reality as much as he wants to. He has to accept that as repulsed as he is by seeing his raw darkness, he needs it. He has to accept it to be whole. To be Captain James T. Kirk. Otherwise, he is only half of what he is, and he can't live like that.
But what happens when you have the mind and the heart talking, but the soul is unable to balance it?
Tumblr media
After we find out that the merging may kill Kirk from the shock, we have Spock and McCoy arguing again over what to do. All while Kirk sits there, listening to both sides and considering every option, but being unable to decide. The screencap above outright has Kirk in the middle, Spock and McCoy to the side like they were his shoulder angel and devil. They couldn't have symbolized it better if they tried.
On the one hand, we have Spock. It's clear to him that it was shock that killed the unicorn dog, unable to comprehend what all had happened to it when split and forcibly merged back. But Kirk IS able to comprehend it and thus will be able to avoid the same fate. Spock himself struggles with his two sides regularly and is able to manage it... well, he thinks he can anyways, but that's not the point. From his experience, he believes that Kirk can survive and regardless, the landing party will die unless they take the risk of merging Kirk and thus confirming that the transporters are safe once more. As is the duty of the captain.
On the other hand, we have McCoy. With no autopsy completed, he can't be for sure what caused the death and as a doctor he's not going to make a conclusion without it. He's utterly against using the teleporters until the autopsy is complete, at least. He's unwilling to risk Kirk's life without the proof. Plus, if they do it and Kirk dies, then they won't be able to beam up the landing party, and thus they'd die from the cold anyway. He needs absolute certainty before he's willing to allow anything. He's a doctor, so of course he's not going to recklessley allow anyone to risk themselves unless it's himself but shush, but he's especially not risking Jim.
That leaves us with Kirk. He can listen to the two sides. He can weigh the options of the two sides. If he doesn't go through the transporter, his stays split and his men die. But if he does, he has no way of being certain that he'll live. But the key to the Triumvirate is that Spock has his side, McCoy has his side, and Kirk either concedes to one or finds a third option. But he can't. Not at this moment. He has no ability to decide. That essential element is gone. He's still unwilling to relinquish command, and thus neither Spock nor McCoy can make the decision. It has to be Kirk.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, the good Kirk chooses to go through the transporter, his men's lives coming before his own. The bad Kirk refuses, trying to abandon his men to save himself. The good Kirk isn't afraid of the risk while the bad Kirk fears for his life. The logical half and the emotional half at odds. In the end, the good Kirk convinces his terrified dark side that it has to be done. Thus, they are brought back together and become whole once more. James T Kirk becomes whole once more.
I have no idea where I'm going with this, and I'm probably reading into this WAAAAY too hard. But in short, just as Kirk needs his two own halves to function, Kirk needs Spock and McCoy as well. He needs Spock to be able to rationalize him and keep him and his head in check. He needs McCoy to be able to process his emotions and to embrace what he otherwise would be unwilling to. He needs both to be able to find that middle ground and make the decision, whether it be right or wrong but a decision nonetheless. Without him as a balance, the two halves are separate. Nothing to balance them out and at war with each other, unable to reconcile. Unable to be function. Unable to be whole.

serious post time. concerning some thoughts ive had about zverev at LC. nothing too heavy but under the cut in case u just wanna scroll past.
i was talking to my mum about this and i think most of tennisblr share the same sentiment towards him so im not gonna be saying anything too radical. Its also not going to be super concise because im mostly spitballing here.
I was just thinking about how we talk about him and how we as a community navigate his presence on tour. I know that there's a vindictive joy that comes with seeing him lose that's especially potent since he basically got away with domestic violence scot free.
Seeing him lose is a good feeling because he clearly cares a lot and it feels like winning that he's upset, but it also doesn't actually mean anything in the scope of things. Obviously on some level if he lost enough he would no longer be relevant but it's inescapable that he is, unfortunately, very good at tennis. He's number 2 in the world. Call him a choker all you want, he's still vastly more successful that 99.9% of all tennis players.
But it's also just sport- a game. It's not the outcome of the match that amounts to anything outside of a very small community of people; its the celebrity, the money and clout and hero worship. The fact of the matter is it doesn't make a difference to the women he abused if he wins a match because he still abused them and he is still famous. He will always have been famous, even if he retires tomorrow. They will still interview him, laud him in press, put him in ads.
I just sometimes think- what right do I have to feel vindicated by his losses? To weigh his literal actual crimes against the outcome of some silly ball game? In a perfect world he would not be playing, he would be banned by the ITF and shunned publicly by his fellow players. He would not be invited to Laver Cup.
I won't say I don't look at tournament draws and hope for his early loss, but at least at tour events that means an early exit. I can't find it in myself to care if he wins or loses at Laver Cup, not really. Because he will still be there, he is still part of the team, he is still on the bench. It doesn't matter if he wins because he's still an abuser people paid thousands of dollars to watch play a game.

This feels like a hot take nowadays, but Jara (Jason Todd/Yara Flor) was the best possible relationship that could’ve come out of the Elseworld’s Teen Titans. Do I think the series as a whole would’ve been better without a romance plot? Yes, of course, but man do I love Jara.
First of all, both of them are dealing with the pressure of carrying on the legacy of two of the original Teen Titans. I see Cara fans saying “oh, but Batgirl is a legacy name, too,” but it’s really not the same. Cass had Barbara in her corner while Jason and Yara didn’t have Dick or Donna in theirs (at least at the start/not in the same way that Cass had Babs.)
Also, despite the fact that the romance plot from #27 to #36 was forced I admit, they had chemistry before that. Almost from the start, before they were really friends or got along that well, they had banter! There was tension! There was already foreshadowing for the relationship that would blossom between the two of them by #5.
The specific moment of foreshadowing that comes to mind in issue 5 is Roy’s thought boxes on page 26, where Roy compared the two to him and Donna. Most people say this makes no sense, that it would be better to make a comparison between Dick and Donna, I say this was purposeful to hint at how their relationship would develop.
And at the end, Yara was the one who was there for Jason after he killed Condiment King, helping him as he tried to figure out what it meant to have blood on his hands. All the others, especially Roy, turned their back on him without even asking why he did it (which I suppose we should blame the writers for more than the characters, and how rushed the entire ending is).
In conclusion, whether you like the ship or not, the writers were pushing it from the start. If you’re an Elseword’s Teen Titans fan, you can’t ignore it. Stop getting pissy when people enjoy the CANON ship, and stop trying to make a perfectly normal friendship a romantic relationship… but also qpr cara would slap.

its too late at night im having too many gay thoughts about these idiots so. here we are i guess.
It's Ian. No one else is going to fucking caress him. For all the informality of the company's content and general atmosphere, with this video concept especially, he's still their boss. And no one is going to want to, or have the guts to just fucking stroke his face like that. Even as he laughs and asks 'What is this?' he knows what's happening, knows who those hands belong to.
Two fingers drag down the right side of his face, and he feels the chalk that's left behind. It's going to stay for the rest of the video, and there's something to be said about that, he thinks. Something symbolic, something romantic, or even something funny, the last thought being slapped into his head when Ian's hand collides with his face.
It doesn't hurt that much, and immediately after he cracks a joke.
"This person thinks they're hilarious."
And they are, he wants to add. They're ridiculously funny, with a dark, somewhat skewed sense of humour to match his own, and they're brilliant and kind and so many other things, but right now they're making it easy for him.
"Who would caress my face and slap me outta nowhere?"
He, and everyone else in the room, and everyone who's going to watch the video, knows.
"Feels like an Ian move to me- Did you just boop me?"
Ian's locking it in, making sure that it's clear that, yeah, in case you couldn't figure it out already, it's me motherfucker.
"That's the only one you truly needed to get right."
Anthony laughs. He's not wrong - It wouldn't matter if he got everyone else dead wrong [even Angela, after hearing her speak and feeling her entire cast]. So long as he got Ian right, then it would be fine. There's probably also something to be said about how sweet that would be, but after having all the fucking braincells knocked out of his skull from the second person, he's not very poetic.
All that matters is that he guessed Ian correctly, and can still feel the two stripes of chalk on his cheek. [All that matters is that now there's a phantom warmth ghosting across his face, a replication of the gentle, almost loving strokes a distraction from the slight sting from everyone else's hands.]
