2024/07/23 - MAP VERSION 1.4!
fans of Jak and Daxter, I need help!
I have access to Inkarnate, and i keep seeing people attempt to cobble together the various maps from the games and try to make sense of it, so i figure I'd try out my version, and I'd LOVE some feedback!
PLACES
HAVEN CITY/SANDOVER
WASTELANDS/SPARGUS [Desert Island, apparently??]
KRAS CITY [never played Jak X, concept art has it as a Floating City on water, has to be far enough from a coast to be safe from metal heads, but close enough for Krew to operate in both Haven and Kras regularily?]
Icelands [again, in Jak X, only seen via race track? most people put it far north, but feasibly, it would also have to be close to Kras for the Grand Prix Race thingy. If my map building goes as it is, perhaps it is actually far South? Antartic vs Arctic? COULD also be West of the Precursor Legacy, via the snowy area off of the Lava Village place]
INITIAL THOUGHTS
KRAS CITY IS DIRECTLY EAST, OFF THE COAST OF WHAT USED TO BE ROCK VILLAGE. EARLY MATERIALS/STUDY OF THE FLOATING CITY CAME FROM THE FLOATING BIT OF THE LOST PRECURSOR CITY.
ICELANDS are a Maurader territory atop the same mountains that we originally see the Yeti Babak in from JaD:tPL. The Babak village up there is gone? trading with the Marauders? dont know yet. ICELANDS are up along the spine of that mountain area!
BABAK VILLAGE should probably be moved closer to Haven! where ever it ends up it should also determine where the Eco Mine will be! [also potentially close to the original Blue Eco Temple on the other side of Sandover? I know those are Eco Vents, but its still an area with an over flow of Eco? dunno, theres not much room there for more things XD
I put SPARGUS/WASTELANDS to the far west of both the ICELANDS Mountains and Haven for three reasons!
A La using Australia as a 'prison colony / exile' via the british, you wouldnt Exile people somewhere close by, even if it IS an island? (pls correct me if that's wrong btw) Spargus SHOULD be far from Haven, and it makes sense that you'd need an 'air train' or whatever they call it in the games, to get there, beyond it just being an Island
the ruins from the city that you run around anc corral Reapers in! I have it between the Marauder Colony/Strong hold and the general area where they came from to give reason to why it failed! I don't know the canon around that ruin, but i like the idea that it was a Spargan Colony that fell to Marauders a long time ago, BUT was avenged years later, and the Marauders were forced further into the desert, cut off from their home land after losing that area. It's particularily dangerous to travel, and also why not a lot of people travel past the center volcano, or to the temple in the South East of the Wastelands!
the Catacombs/Subrail thing! please correct me if im wrong! but you enter the Subrail from the Catacombs of said beforehand mentioned temple! and those catacombs/subrail connect to haven, going in a West to Eastern direction, under the mountains, in my little world now!
HAVEN IS HUGE - like, no matter how you put it, Haven is a MASSIVE area??? like, this is wild to me! it makes a little more sense if you consider it a massive area that was claimed by Mar and his Acolytes? (no idea if that's canon) and then the city was built within the walls.
There's potentially to much space between Haven and the Mountain range to its west, and Spargus. [It could all be Metal head infested jungle? But that's on the opposite side of where I head canon the Metal Head Nest to be. The Rift Gate is originally found in the Citadel, but is moved to Sandover for the start of Jak 2, however, this doesnt make sense during the game itself, so i believe that the Metal Head leader (Kor, probably) after emerging 300 years in the past through the gate and wreaking havoc, moved it to the new location that we find during Jak 2. I like to think that the Metal Head nest was moved *back to* Gol and Maia's Citadel [Dark Eco Silo nearby, YUM!], and Mar's Gun, built with the salvaged remains of the gun that helps you get to Klaww, is moved closer, but is unable to be moved. HOWEVER, that puts everyone WAY outside the Walls of Haven, So. I dont actually know at the moment! I'd LOVE feedback please and thank you! gimme ideas that I can use to modify and add to the map, throw headcanons at me, discuss where the Wastelands adn Kras should be, and what sizes they should be?
I love this game series and I wanted to be able to flesh out where exactly everything is in the world out of shear curiosity! [Yes, the clouds are a hint at the areas in the Game-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named, The concept of that area is *way* to cool to ignore it!]
#jak and daxter#jak and daxter worldbuilding#jak and daxter map#come help me make plot for the world#there will probably be more continents#for now im focusing on canon areas and where the might be positioned

This is a stand in ask that I lost. It was about Sonic Frontiers. It was a four-part ask written kind of smugly about the open zone areas of Sonic Frontiers, and how all the random clutter (springs, dash panels, etc.) and high level of scripting/railroading doesn't fit in very well with open world design. They suggested Sega would have to go back to the drawing board and really change the design for whatever follows next.
So I wanted to redo this ask because I feel like I had a pretty good response.
I opened this ask jokingly calling the anon out for sounding a little snooty, because it used some big words. But my main opener was: Haven't you played Super Mario Odyssey? Each level in Super Mario Odyssey is effectively its own little open world, particularly something like Tostarena.
it's this huge area dotted with a town, ruins, and other landmarks, with big stretches of empty space between them. The landmarks are where the traditional gameplay is -- platforming challenges, enemies, puzzles, and so on, and you have to traverse across the desert to reach them.
I also think about Jak & Daxter, maybe one of the first open world platformers ever, and how it has kind of a hub-and-spoke system. Generally you are working out of a base, like a workshop or a village or something, with roads that lead out of, around, and back into that base area (or to other buildings that act sort of like self-contained dungeons).

Each "road" takes the place of a level. Now, there's nothing keeping you on the road, which is part of the fun, since you can cross between roads, go around obstacles, and so on. But roads are definitely setup to guide you through a space like a level would.
And as someone who plays a lot of it, I think in the context of Fortnite, which is this huge island covered in a spiderweb of roads and pathways leading to, from, and around POIs (Points of Interest).
It's a system that drives all good open world design, and was kind pioneered in Disneyland all the way back in the 1950's. Disney didn't call them "points of interest", he called them "weenies" -- big iconic areas that you can see from long distances that are interesting enough to make you want to explore them, while also helping you stay oriented in the overall space.
So take this screenshot of the current Fortnite map:
My car is parked at a crossroads. Directly ahead of me and a little to the left is a shack where Gwenpool is roaming around. Further in the distance is the POI of "Reckless Railways", which houses the map's Grand Central Station, where the train rolls through and restocks its supplies. Further beyond that are the snowy mountains and the massive Grand Glacier hotel. To the far left, on the edge of the image, is the forge at Dr. Doom's castle.
Roads are meant for traveling quickly down. They lead you to points of interest, where you slow down and comb through an area carefully. And, obviously, there's all kinds of little landmarks dotted all over the place between major POIs, encouraging you to get off the road and go exploring. Gas stations and ruins and little shacks and stuff.
It's extremely easy to adapt these concepts to a Sonic game, which is what's so baffling about Sonic Frontiers being such an incoherent mess.
Roads should be your boost Sonic zones. It can't be a random collection of junk, it can't be something you unlock as a means of "fast travel." There has to be an identifiable road, a series of pathways leading you around the island. You put grind rails and boost pads and dash rings along this road. This is where players are supposed to go fast. Roads = travel.
These roads will lead you to points of interest and other landmarks. A POI, like in Super Mario Odyssey, is where puzzles, platforming, and exploration are mostly done. I do not mean "four stone buildings" like in Sonic Frontiers. I mean a place that feels like a place. A location that feels like it has character. Personality. Something you work your way through, absorb, and conquer. Again, like Odyssey.
And then you stash little secrets and landmarks off the beaten path for players who want to go offroading.
2-3 islands per game, 2-3 biomes per island. You can have specific race or time trial missions to and from different landmarks, you can have POI exploration missions, you can have missions to change the state of these POIs like blowing up power plants or unlocking gates. Maybe Eggman has a giant pipe he's using to pump toxic chemicals into the water, so you have to turn off the pump and then you get to run down the inside of the empty pipe like an F-Zero GX track.
It's easy to design this game. You don't even need cyberspace levels. Heck, remember GTA5? Most missions had bronze, silver, and gold medals. You can still have a ranking system in an open world game.
Look, I even drew art of this concept, what, four years ago? five?
Somebody should pay me a livable wage for this kind of stuff

JAK FANS
YALL
I FOUND ON THE MAP WHERE JAK AND DAXTER ARE TRANSPORTED TO
(Jak is the blue triangle on the map btw)

Now the route(s) to the prison:

(Video order: Cutscene first, then location, then route to prison)
ITS EVEN GOT A GUARD ATTACKING ME AT THIS LOCATION LOL
(the whole reason I did this was because I wanted to know how far it was from the prison)
I FOUND IT BY WATCHING THE CUTSCENE WHERE THEY SHOOT THROUGH THE RIFT AND USING THE SIGNS AND LEDGE/PLATFORM THINGIES AS MY REFERENCE
AND
I
FOUND
IT
Also jak was transported in a prisoner's zoomer. Like this:
Sure he could've squeezed through the bars, but maybe they've got an electric field like MANY THINGS IN JAK 2 THAT THE BARON OWNS
LIKE FORCE FIELD WALLSS AND STUFF THAT ARE IN THE FORTRESS.
I timed with a timer how long it took from the first location (where jak showed up and was taken captive)
Through the city (walking) then on a zoomer, i took one of the bigger slower ones to copy the movement of a prison transport zoomer, arriving to the prison, inside the prison, AND TO A PRISONER'S CELL(where you start the jak 2 gameplay)
what surprised me is that the route to the prison is quick.
From basically anywhere in the city.
(Except the slums and racing place)
It was 4 minutes and 8 seconds from where jak was caught, to the prison, to a cell, but with the usual haven city zoomers driving slow, it may be about 5 minutes.
No wonder daxter had a rough time finding him, the zoomers are fast and the city is big for him lol.

Astro Bot 2 should have all its planets nothing but franchise worlds.
After seeing worlds for God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and even Ape Escape, I really want to see more worlds dedicated to actual games because those levels were awesome!
Crash Bandicoot's map from jungle to fortress as a whole level, navigating an infected city in The Last of Us, Jak and Daxter's (compressed) journey from Sandover Village to Gol's citadel with a short Precursor Robot mini boss battle, and what about a Gran Turismo race track level?
That has potential! C'mon Team ASOBI! Please! I beg of you!

Snippet Monday Week 2: Blackmail au

(Last time, Sig was preparing to go back to Haven with Jak to retrieve Mar and deal with Krew)
It wasn't hard to give Kleiver the slip once they were out of the air train. Sure, they'd probably be paying for it later, judging by the irate yell behind them, but Damas would understand. And if he didn't, Sig would. Jak needed to be seen running -- apparently for his life -- from Wastelanders. Nobody could know that what was about to happen was premeditated.
"Down!" Daxter hollered from Jak's back, and he dropped into a slide under two bewildered men carrying a crate.
"You little devil-!" Kleiver bellowed, puffing for air, "ohhh you're gonna regret it when I catch up to you!"
"You mean if you catch up to us," Daxter taunted.
"Giddyup, Jak! We're free!"
He cackled like a madman, shaking Jak's scarf like reins.
"Don't overdo it, Dax."
Jak caught a passing driver by the ankle and yanked them down.
"Sorry, man. Need to borrow this."
It was second nature to zip between traffic lanes, under bridges and scant inches above pedestrians' heads. For having had to learn to drive by trial and error, Jak was pretty good at not hurting anyone but himself in his more reckless moments. There was a reason KG Patrol Cars 9, 13, and 4 would actively refuse to initiate high speed chases if they spotted him. Unlike most of their fellow attack dogs, some of Praxis's men actually had senses of self-preservation.
"Slow down, Jak, we're losing him!" Daxter urged.
They couldn't "accidentally" lead Spargus to the Underground's door if they actually outran their pursuers.
Daxter shaded his eyes and squinted, looking for Kleiver. He squeaked and turned to thump Jak’s shoulders.
"Speed up, Jak!"
"Speed up, slow down- pick one!" Jak grumbled.
"Speed up! He brought friends!" Daxter pointed behind him as if Jak could actually look. "It's the grabby lady in yellow!"
Jak ditched the zoomer at the mouth of the alley and ran, silently praying that Mar would actually be in the hideout and not one of the safehouses Kor preferred. If Mar wasn't there, this whole impulsive plan was for nothing, and the Wastelanders would probably lock him in the hold to keep him from making a second attempt.
Please, please, please-
Jak burst through the door, disheveled and out of breath. Come on, come on-
A small, innocent face peeked out from underneath one of the bunks, and Jak almost collapsed in relief.
"Jak! About time you showed up!"
The bizarrely young Samos barely looked up from the map he was studying.
"Tess said something about you running off with Wastelanders! Dragged Torn out to go look for you and everything. You better have a heck of a good reason for that, or else we're never going to hear the end of it once he gets back."
"No time," Jak said brusquely. "I gotta get the kid out of here. It's not safe."
Samos stopped and actually looked up this time. "Not safe? Is it KG? Have they found us?!"
Daxter dropped from Jak's back and rolled his eyes. "The resistance symbol is on the door, genius! How long do you think you people have before someone actually looks at the door? We're not taking any chances!"
Samos relaxed. "Oh, that. Yeah that's why I'm only here when I have to be. But eh-" he shrugged. "If you want to get the kid and that blasted crocadog out of my hair for the day, you won't hear me complain!"
Jak stared at him for a moment, then curled his lip. "Boy," he said in a low voice, "You're really something."
Then he turned his back and knelt to hold his arms out to Mar.
"Mar, c'mere. It's okay, s'okay, we're gonna be okay, but you have to come with me. Alright? I promise, it's okay."
The little boy frowned. Then he patted the puppy's side and crawled out to meet Jak. Immediately the teenager scooped him into his arms and held him tight against his chest.
"I got you, I got you."
He was okay.
"Did you see him?"
"He went this way!"
"Check every door. The ankle-biter can't have got far!"
Jak froze. "Rot. They found me. Samos, are there any other exits?"
Now noticeably nervous, the resistance leader looked around. "Er...no, no I don't think- who's out there?!"
"Wastelanders," Jak answered shortly. "I gave em the slip on the waterfront and I don't think they're real happy about that."
Samos scowled. "What'd you go and piss off a bunch of Wastelanders for?! We can't risk that much attention when we're this close to finding the Tomb!"
He started to reach for Mar.
"Gimme the kid. We'll hide in here while you deal with your mess!"
"Back off!" Jak snarled, pulling away. "I'm sick of you people acting like I'm expendable as long as you have my baby brother as a backup. What's wrong with you?! He's a kid! We're kids!"
"Brother?!" Samos sputtered, "Now look, kid, I know you're fond of him and all, but he's got a destiny you can't even begin to understa-"
The door slammed open behind them, and Samos turned and looked up to find himself eye to navel with a huge one-eyed man covered in the skulls of dead metalheads.
"Boy," Sig growled, "You are in a heap of trouble."
He reached down to pull Jak to his feet, then froze when a pair of frightened indigo eyes peeped up at him from over Jak’s shoulder.
Jak curled tighter around the toddler, glaring at everyone. "So? I made you work for it," he hissed.
Sig took a step back. "Yeah," he murmured, "...yeah, you did. I'll give you that."
Mar's eyes suddenly widened and he gasped. He pointed at Sig and made a small trilling sound. In response, the crocadog's ears perked up and it barked in curiosity. Sig handed his gun to the woman next to him and crouched.
"Hey, lil man," he whispered to Mar. He inhaled sharply and let the air out slow.
"Do…do you remember me?"
Mar pointed at him again with a worried expression. "Eye?" He signed, "Ba's eye is weird now?"
Faced with the toddler he'd helped raise since his cousin's death during a hunt, Sig choked on conflicted emotions. He wanted to sob over how big Mar had gotten, but all he could do was laugh.
"Yeah, yeah Ba's eye is weird now," he signed back.
"Ba is mad at big brother?"
"No baby, it's just pretend. He ran off without telling his grownups. Ba was worried," Sig assured him.
"Ohhh. I did that too."
Mar pulled away from Jak's chest and patted his face.
"Don't be scared Jakky, Ba's not really mad."
"Omigods." Daxter covered a smirk. If they all made it through this in one piece, he was never going to let Jak live down being reassured by a toddler.
"Up you get." Kleiver stumped past Sig and hauled Jak roughly to his feet by the back of his tunic. "What'd I tell 'im, I said I ain't no babysitter! You're goin' back to the Wastes, little man, and good luck gettin' another chance to run for it. Heh. You'll be lucky if they don't put a baby leash on you for this."
"Hey rot you," Jak snapped. Still, he let himself be manhandled out the door while Samos panicked. Probably cruel, but if Damas was right about there being a leak in their intel, then appearances needed to be kept up.
Once outside, he jerked his chin to the left. "There's a hatch down there that goes out to Dead Town. See if the air train will make a pickup out there."
The Wastelanders turned to stare at him. He'd stopped fighting. Stopped hissing and snarling like a stray cat. It was like a switch had flipped. Daxter rode the crocadog up beside him like a Flut Flut and smirked.
"Told ya we knew what we were doing."

This is an old game, but there is still so much that we don't know.
One of the first things you can unlock in Jak 2 is Big/Small head mode, and I turned it on because I wanted to see how ridiculous it was. And it WAS ridiculous. But it was also a great model to see Jak's hair because I have a PS2, and those games were designed with a very different graphics output than our modern consoles. And I noticed something.

Jak's hair is RAGGED. Not like "It's been buzzed off and grew back messy" ragged, I mean "Left alone without an ounce of care offered" ragged. Weither the unfortunate messy mop he has in 'Daxter' is due to shrinkage or matts, this is still a fairly accurate amount of growth for two straight years. (For reference, the average human grows hair at a rate of one inch per two months)
I understand, as a 3d model, his hair is one object out of convenience, but when Daxter still holds on to that mop during a spin attack and Jak's response is a visual grimace, that hair may likely have ended up being a minimum single object over his time in prison.
Other Finds:
There are signs posted EVERYWHERE, and I DO mean EVERYWHERE. Everything from traffic signs to advertisements to shop signs! And they all say and mean things! Here's a few I noted

There's even a few Zoomer ads, but I cannot for the life of me make out anything more than "Long life" and part of the model

Another neat thing I found, though probably not new, is that when and NPC doesn't have a mission for you, they just don't exist. This is me in the Underground Base while I had misc stuff going on, standing in Torn's spot because he's just not there! Maybe he really DOES get some fresh air once in a while!

There's a map in the Underground Base, and I don't see this map anywhere else in the game, nor does it appear to line up with anywhere in Haven

It's an aerial view, but of what? It HAS to be Haven somewhere, why else would it be there? Is this an old map of the city before the walls were built? How long have the walls been there? How long has Haven been without it's rightful king? It's a very large city, that has heavily populated areas, but given the existence of Dead Town and areas beyond, it clearly used to have a much bigger footprint. The wall clearly wasn't built with travel along it in mind, it intersects houses and security gates. There are no patrols along it. I haven't seen so much as a guard or turret tower. And yet the walls are so tall and so thick, that they contain a whole network of power transportation to keep the shield walls up. Who designed it? And why isn't it maintained better?
Of course we know the answer to the latter question: Baron Praxis.
Baron Praxis is so uncaring toward his people, this much is obvious given the state of the slums, but Riddle me this: What dystopia leaders of note have enough funding to put up a giant FLASHING NEON propaganda ad in the middle of the slums, and still refuses to believe that people in the flooded districts of their city have no trouble getting into their homes?

These people have no way to get to these buildings, no WONDER they build their homes on stilts! The Water Slums is filled with what look like communal hovels and ramshackle dwellings that are staying upright and afloat with twigs and prayers.
Speaking of Prayers: The oracle.

There's this tapestry in the Oracle in the Water slums. There's like eight of them, but they all say the same thing. I've found no translations of this anywhere online, so I got real close and personal and snapped some pics to translate. And it's...it's oddly specific, in context, but I can't explain why in the world it's worded the way it is.
Translation is as follows:
"THE NOBLE WILL BE ASSURED OF A PLACE IN HISTORY THUS BEING GRANTED A FORM OF LIFE TO BE FOREVER VENERATED BY THEIR ANCESTORS AS ONE WHO LIVED A LIFE OF GOOD"
That is such an odd wording. Why "Ancestors?" Why not "Descendants?" that would make more sense, giving that noble person a place in history. It's clearly meant to be a general statement to the people and the followers of the Precursor beliefs to live their best life and BE a good person overall, but the way this is worded feels so specific toward Jak. I can't shake the notion that this is some old prophecy or prayer given from the Oracle before it fell silent that's been woven into that tapestry and hung in that place of worship.

Happy WBW, Saran!
Please pretend it's Wednesday, because I just found a single spoon on the floor and am gonna use it before it's gone: So your DRDW is based on a video game I know absolutely nothing about. How much of the game did you keep? Is it the same setting, same world, or something new?
Happy WBW, Elli!
"I found a single spoon on the floor" is such a mood though (I'll get to your other asks at some point, I promise - this just looked like one I actually had the brainpower to answer lol)
The quick answer to this is that the essentials (characters, setting, magic system, some plot beats) are there, but very heavily changed and expanded upon, to the point that I don't actually think you'd need to know anything about the games to understand what's going on in DRDW. The long answer is... a lot longer lol
(Putting the rest of this under a read more for spoilers for a 20-year-old game and because infodump mode was activated)
The Jak & Daxter game series is - and i say this with all the love in my heart - completely fucking bonkers. In summary: in the first game, Daxter (a human) falls into a pool of Evil Magic (dark eco) and turns into an orange otter-weasel-thing, which sends Jak on a quest to change him back. While they don't succeed at changing Daxter back, they do find a time machine (?!) which they take into the future, where Jak is promptly arrested and subjected to magical mad science experiments and injected with dark eco (this is the start of the second game). This does not, notably, turn him into an orange otter-weasel-thing, but does give him the ability to turn into a demon (and anger issues. It also gives him anger issues). He then uses these powers to overthrow the dystopian future government and save a kid who's destined to save the world because the kid is also Jak (because Jak's originally from the future, of course). He then sends the kid back to the past to repeat the cycle.
I won't get too into the third game (except for how you find out that the otter-weasel-things are actually a race of spacefaring gods, and Daxter has technically been a god all this time because Reasons?!) because DRDW doesn't cover that, but i can assure you that it is also a trip.
DRDW was originally meant to follow the canon a lot closer than it actually does. As it stands, though, I've scrapped pretty much all the events of the first game (Daxter in DRDW does not turn into a weasel god, although he did get to keep a bit of magic-ability-worldbuilding i gave him as an explanation for why dark eco would turn him into a rodent instead of a rage monster), including the time travel.
For the setting, this means that I smashed together the settings from two different time periods into one map, as well as moving things around and adding new locations where it made sense. As far as time period goes, I went for the Jak 2 time period (a little bit of 'recovered ancient tech,' but mostly modern-futuristic tech).
Without the time travel, the kid being young Jak doesn't make sense, so his story got completely changed. A couple characters didn't have anything to do, anymore, so they've been excluded (although I'm considering bringing them in for other roles in another story). This also affected how the main characters (Jak, Daxter, and Keira) grew up a lot more significantly than I expected, so while the core of their characters is similar, there are significant differences from the canon (plus i wrote them as being more explicitly neurodivergent than they are in the games [although in the games they're already pretty heavily ND-coded, in my opinion]).
In this version, Daxter also takes a bit longer to find and rescue Jak (because. Look. You give me an excuse for prison/experiment/post-whump, I am going to run that shit as far as I can, ok) - because of this, Jak is pretty much stuck in magic demon mode. So plot-wise, there are a lot of parallels to the plot line of the first game as they try to find a way to change Jak back (but it's complicated, because of course it is).
The magic system got a total overhaul - in the game, magic (eco) is very... well, video-gamey. Green heals you, blue makes you go fast, dark turns you into a monster/orange rat, etc. I put a frankly unnecessary amount of work into figuring out what eco *is* - where it comes from, how it forms in different environments, how it interacts with people, how it's used in connection with technology, etc. Tbh I spent so much time on this part that it made me consider spinning this whole story into original fiction. But when I tried, it just Felt Wrong so I put it back 😂 Really though, I think the magic system rewrite is one of the bigger factors in making this fic actually kind of comprehensible without knowledge of the games - I'm really proud of it 😊
Thank you so much for the ask (and the chance to infodump about my favorite games and favorite project 💜)

I dont mean to bother but could you upload a better quality version of the map for jak and dexter it's really neat but I cant make out the details in the writing. I'm so sorry to be a bother but I really like your work
Yes! That's no problem! As a treat I added the 2 other edited maps i have which were mainly for dnd purposes.
They should be easier to zoom in on here + you're able to download them directly
Unfortunately I made the maps at a size that's a bit hard to read so I'll have to upscale them at some point

Jak and Daxter/ Pokémon Short
Gears, Bolts, and Lurkers
It was another day in Haven City where more problem had made themselves known too all our heroes. For Jak and Daxter they had gone off too the City's Pumping Station that was outside the walls too turn back on the Water. The Baron in a attempt too snuff out the Underground had cut off the water supply, not caring about how many would suffer. For Frontier they had gotten another mission from Brutter. A group of Lurkers in a rocky Canyon a ways off from the Dig Site too the west had sent out a message that they needed help in getting out of the area. Metal Heads had closed in around the Canyon making it impossible too sneak out especially since there were 10 of them. Thankfully they were already scoping out a more secure area and just need protection while they traveled there.
before each left for there respective mission Jak and Daxter met up with Frontier too tell each other there mission so both knew where too search if they did not contact the other.
Jak and Daxter would be getting unexpected help as Walking Wake and Suicune both heard about Jak and Daxter's mission and grew angry and wanted too help, something that both Jak and Daxter were all for. Frontier handed over both Pokémon Pokeball and told them how too send out and return the Pokémon from the device.
And with that both went on there mission
Frontier had Hoopa warp him the location that Brutter showed them on a map. The area was well, a rocky canyon and according too Brutter the Lurkers hide out should be near a stone pillar with markings carved into it. Which after few minutes or roaming the area on Koraidon's back they found the pillar and the cave it was near.
Nearing the cave Frontier got off Koraidon's back and called into the cave with Lurker Talk.
Frontier: Hello I am the Transporter that Brutter sent too help!
Frontier and Koraidon waited for a few moments before someone came too the entrance of the cave. A Lurker wearing a pair of old overalls and googles. The Lurker had come too greet Frontier and introduced themselves as Valve.
Valve quickly welcomed the duo into the cave system where the other Lurkers had made there home.
Valve: Welcome, young one. We have heard many a few of heroic tale from other Lurkers you help free. Thanks for answer are plight.
Frontier: Of course, you guys need the help. How could I say no. Now from what Brutter told me there are 10 of you guys that need help getting out of the Canyon and too your new home.
Valve: Yes, Yes. You see we have been surrounded by Metal Heads and far too many for us too handle alone. There is also the need too help transport other cargo too safety.
Frontier: What other cargo do you guys need help moving.
Valve told Frontier and Koraidon too follow them as they walked further into the cave where they were met with a big clearing and multiple Lurkers and machines.
Valve: You see young one. We have taken too mechanics, building various gadgets, tools, and Vehicles. Well only one vehicle at the moment. Parts are tricky too come by. All this is too help build Lurkers new home and too further knowledge. We know this is difficult task but please help us. We already are packing up all machines onto a truck carrier made too sit the equipment and the other Lurkers while me and friend Piston drive. It is getting through canyon safely is what concerns us.
Well this was bit more tricky having too move all the Lurkers plus there equipment out the canyon safely would indeed be tricky. Frontier was thinking of Pokémon who could help when another idea popped into there mind.
Frontier: Valve what if I told you I knew someone who could get us all out of the Canyon in seconds.
Valve had shocked look at that and asked if that was really possible and Frontier just grinned
A ways away from the Canyon a giant golden ring appeared and a couple seconds later the car with Valve and Piston came through bringing along all the equipment and Lurkers riding in the back of the attached truck carrier. Along with Frontier, Koraidon, and Hoopa.
Needless too say all the Lurkers were amazed and overjoyed at this. Thankfully the trip was just as smooth and too make sure nobody would sneak up on them Frontier had sent out Swellow, Gliscor and Corviknight too scope out the surroundings. besides a few metal Heads that were taken down or scared of by the Flying-Types there was really no battles.
Eventually they made it too the Lurkers destination. A secluded valley that was home too various pieces of discarded machinery. This valley was home too long since broken machinery and metals used in ancient times, the perfect place too safely build new machines and keep hidden.
All the Lurkers began too unpack there stuff and Frontier asked if they needed any help but Valve had politely said no. Saying that they could handle everything from here and there was others out there that needed Frontier more than them. Valve and the other Lurkers said there goodbyes for now but not before giving Frontier a Morph Gun part a double barrel blaster known as the Bout Buster.
Jak and Daxter could definitely get some use out of this.
Valve also said that when they are all settled in, that they will send word too Brutter too tell Frontier and their friends too come over for New Weapons and Upgrades, Support Items, and even Vehicles. Also if they could send over any scrap or broken machines that it would help a lot with the mechanical efforts.
Overall a smooth mission that ended with new allies
I really love how you continue to include and expand on the Lurkers in this. Naughty Dog seriously missed a good opportunity for worldbuilding post Jak 1. Hoopa is definitely a blessing to have when transporting a large group in a pretty dangerous environment.
I see Jak just riding atop of Walking Wake and he thinks back to the Flut Flut from his first adventure.

Jak & Daxter 2 - Make Delivery to Hip Hog Saloon:
"Here's another type of mission that you will see often: vehicle related missions. You will have races, deliveries and sort of time trials to deal with. It may sound fun but there are some awful sections on the map, so don't be surprised to rage a bit."
PS: the gameplay used for this gifset is not mine. The original video belongs to the user: Ghost Type, on Youtube.
