summary: you and the general have a 'throw down' for the last panda bun in Hope Mart.

Tumblr media
“One panda meat bun, please.”
The loud chime of Hope Mart’s doors follows the two voices that utter out their order in sync, one a deep masculine and the other a chirpy feminine.
Behind the cash register, the young female employee’s eyes flicker between you and the other customer to your right, a nervous smile crawling its way onto her face at your shared dilemma.
Your brows pull down into a frown when you glance to your right, peering up to see a very much unwelcome guest. “Why are you here?”
Warumono glances down at you through his thick curls, seemingly surprised like you, at your presence.
“Panda bun.” He points a finger at the piping hot and adorable meat bun decorated in the image of a panda, that sits on the top shelf of the showcase seated atop the checkout counter.
A meat bun that was the last of its kind.
“Hard luck, pointy ears.” You say, arms crossed. “The bun’s mine.”
Panda buns—Hope Mart’s newly, limited-time hot seller— had recently become your custom after-work treat. And after a long day of patrolling, you were looking forward to enjoying the meaty treat back at home, together with your favourite tv show.
Hence, no way are you going to give up your precious bun to a despicable villain.
“Is that true?” Warumono directs at the cashier who gives him a questioning look.
“Pardon me sir?”
“Is it hers?” He clarifies, pointing again at the meat bun.
The cashier looks between you two. “Um, no sir. It isn’t.” She stutters out and you flinch.
“Then I’ll  have it.” He fishes out his wallet from his left pocket, pulling out a few notes— the same time the cashier hesitantly starts retrieving his order from the display case.
However, before the transaction can be made, your hand seizes Warumono’s wrist.
“Don’t. you. dare.” You aim at both Warumono and the cashier who flinches with a quiet squeak when your head suddenly snaps in her direction to cast her a threatening glare.
You turn your gaze to Warumono. “Why should you have it? It’s unfair.”
“And why should I care about fair?” The left corner of Warumono's lips inches up into a devious smirk. “Did you forget who I am?”
“How could I?” You murmur, then heave a sigh, releasing his wrist. “Then I guess there’s only one solution.”
Warumono gives you an inquisitive look. “And what’s that?”
“We fight for it.”
And that’s how in the next moment you and Warumono come to stand outside, at the back of the store, brandishing curled fingers of one hand at each other.
“Three rounds.” You explain the conditions, after just finishing explaining the rules of the ideal solution to any decision-making problem: Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Warumono’s lips had adorned a frown throughout your entire explanation.
This wasn’t what the villain expected when you’d suggested you both fight. Though he guesses he can’t complain since he’d rather much avoid fighting you on his treasured day off.
“The winner gets the bun. The loser pays.” You finally finish explaining the conditions and Warumono nods in understanding.
He smiles an arrogant smile, and thinks to himself he has this in the bag. A recent earthling expression he’d learnt.
Though after one loss, leaving both you and him to reach a draw, he wasn’t so sure.
“Last round, villain.”
The both of you take your position, both sporting a determined expression.
You chant. “Saisho wa guu, janken pon!”
A strangled gasp escapes Warumono while a happy cheer escapes you at your splayed fingers and his fisted hand.
“Too bad sucker. That panda bun is mine.” You grin.
After his disappointing defeat, Warumono watches with mild jealousy as you snap a few selfies with your earned award.
His shoulders slump and his head hangs low. He’d finally built up the resistance over the past few weeks to eat the long-awaited delicacy, but it seems his hard work was all for naught.
From your periphery, you see Warumono’s crestfallen expression.
A villain sad over a meat bun?
The spectacle surprises you. Once again—he’d surprised you.
You frown. His defeated look makes you feel like you were stealing candy from a baby. A giant, over six feet tall baby.
You heave a defeated sigh. Then reluctantly break the bun in half. “Here.”
Warumono raises his gaze to see your outstretched hand brandishing half of the bun towards him. His brows knit in confusion.
“Just take it already.” You grit out. “I’ve got a show to catch.”
Warumono slowly retrieves the steaming bun from your hand. “Thank you.”
His words shock you and you’re even more shocked when you look up to see a smile on his face.
Your face involuntarily warms at the sight.
“Creepy.”

Note
do you ship kawashira and do u perhaps have any thoughts about them you would like to share :D
Hey, Beautiful~
Two introspective dudes falling for each other? What's not to love? (You'll find that I ship most ships, and hold a special place in my heart for rarepairs <3)
-
There is no going on dates first and getting to know each other in the normal way. No, these two have already tested their bonds and weighed their feelings on each other, so when they get together it's mutual and unsurprising to them.
They are instantly married.
Not literally, but they skip the stages, it's easy to do when you already have a toothbrush at the other person's dorm, an established routine, and the ability to communicate with each other without speaking.
Kawanishi learned that Shirabu is really into Astronomy. It’s been one of Shirabu’s hobbies since he was a kid. Kawanishi,  being the amazing gift giver that he is gave him a poster of the solar system on the day he was born. Shirabu may have teared up a little. But Kawanishi would never tell.
Shirabu barges into Kawanishi's dorm like he owns the place. Fortunately Kawanishi is completely unfazed because it's something his sister would do all the time at home. (still does)
When their strawberry milk is low they play rock paper scissors to see who gets the milk. Shirabu isn't sure how he's doing it, because Kawanishi almost always wins, and it's reached statistical improbability at this point.
He did the math.
(I learned that apparently rock, paper, scissors came from Japan to the west, who knew? It's called Janken. It stems from a game in China invented in 200 BC 😲 but it evolved in Japan in the 1700s and then they brought it to the west. Crazy right? The more you know 🌈)
Shirabu wasn't that into cuddling until he met Kawanishi. But there is just something about the sound of his heart beneath his ear that he can't get enough of.
-
Shirabu took a deep breath. "Kawanishi."
His boyfriend turned toward him. "What's up?"
Shirabu picked at some thread near the cuff of his shirt. "Where do you think we are going in life?"
"Hmmm." Kawanishi hummed as he leaned against the counter. "Well, who knows what the future holds really." He shrugged before putting his hands in his pockets.
Shirabu took in his listless expression, casual stance, and unconcerned face.
It had Shirabu seeing red. We don't know what the future holds!? Kawanishi didn't know? How could he not know where life was taking them? How- What-
"Who knows?" Shirabu said deadly quiet. Kawanishi's eyebrows raised at the tone.
"We know exactly how it's going to go." Shirabu clenched his hands so tight his palms hurt. "At least I do." His face darkened. "The future is, we get married, because I love you, you fucking idiot." He blinked rapidly, his face morphing in horror as he registered his own words.
Kawanishi's eyes were completely blank as the two of them stared at each other.
"What the hell are you doing?" Kawanishi finally said.
The words punched Shirabu in the gut. Oh god, he'd just ruined their whole relationship with one outburst.
The man moved away from the counter and crossed his arms.
Shirabu felt jittery under his skin as he tried to dissect that look on Kawanishi's face.
"That proposal was awful."
Shirabu blinked dumbly. "Huh?"
Kawanishi leaned back on the counter and put his hands back into his pockets. "Zero out of ten."
Shirabu sputtered completely thrown in disarray. "But, I didn't mean to propose."
Kawanishi clicked his tongue, "Even worse."
Shirabu huffed and raised his head. "Fine. Kawanishi Taichi, will you marry me?"
Shirabu’s heart beat wildly. On edge as Kawanishi placed his hand under his chin and muttered around in false thought.
"Yes." Kawanishi said.
Shirabu's eyes widened, hands fisting into his shirt. "R-really?"
"Of course." Kawanishi grinned broadly at him. The look had his chest tightening in fondness.
He frowned as that grin stretched a bit further, all his teeth showing as his eyes slit.
"But not right now."
Shirabu's jaw dropped. "But you said-"
"I know what I said, and it's the truth." He shrugged "But this was an awful proposal so it's a no."
Shirabu was seeing red again as a laughing Kawanishi pulled him to his chest and kissed his pinched face.
Fucking idiot.
-
Month's later:
"Beautiful view," Kawanishi said as they walked over the bridge.
"Yeah." Shirabu nodded and continued toward the fall. He felt so stupid. He knew he should have brought the ring. He'd debated and worried about Kawanishi finding it for too long and ended up just leaving it behind. But now he was pissed. They had such a lovely train ride. Their lunch had been at such a good cafe. The visit to the museum had been amazing and now-
He stared up at the waterfall, trees, and ferns growing near. The lovely bridge, mossy path, and blue skies. It would have been perfect. Perfect.
He was such a fucking idiot.
"Kenjirou."
Shirabu froze at his name and turned slowly toward Kawanishi only to see his boyfriend on one knee with a ring held up toward him.
"I love you." Kawanishi grinned. "Marry me?"
His eyes widened. Seriously? He? Shirabu wasn’t sure if he was happy or angry but regardless he grabbed Kawanishi by the wrists, hauled him up, and kissed his stupid grinning mouth while repeating yes.
When they pulled apart Kawanishi slipped the ring on Shirabu's finger and hummed happily.
Shirabu felt like he was on cloud nine until Kawanishi's grin stretched further, all his teeth showing as his eyes slit.
"Now, that's how you propose." He said.
-
Extra: Shirabu smacked him on the head after that line. Kawanishi still thinks it was worth it. Plus, he gets to tell the story of how Shirabu smacked him after he proposed and reap sympathy benefits.
-
Thanks for the question anon! I hope you enjoyed it. I had a moment where I wasn't sure how to write Shirabu in this context, but it was super fun to figure it out. ☀️
Cheeky Kawanishi and emotional Shirabu 💛

A Reflection on Alex Kidd
Some time ago I played through two platformers that happened to have re-releases on the Switch.
The first was Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil. An excellent game, very good platformer, would definitely recommend even if it gets kinda intense towards the end.
The other was Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX. Alex Kidd was one of those franchises that I knew existed, but didn’t think too much about. Most of my exposure was via Alex Kidd and the Enchanted Castle on the Genesis, which was decidedly kinda janky (and not in a fun way) and punishing. But it still remained a curiosity to me, so when the remake caught my eye, I decided to eventually nab it and experience it for myself.
Cut to now and I’ve not only played Miracle World DX, but the Sega Ages version of the original as well as read up on the other games in the series.
And now I have thoughts regarding this franchise and so must inflict them upon all of you. My apologies.
Tumblr media
(Janken Dance!)
The Origin of Alex Kidd
Alex Kidd is considered Sega’s second mascot, preceded by Opa Opa: A cute sentient spaceship that fights to protect to Fantasy Zone who is also a child soldier and traumatized by the events of the game up to and including killing his own father, the leader of the enemy forces.
Tumblr media
However, when Sega entered the home market and released the Mark III console (the basis for the Master System), they wanted a character that could stand against Mario.
Tumblr media
(Sega showing themselves to be the masters of subtlety)
Alex’s creation, funnily enough, mirrors that of his rival: Sega had intended to create a Dragon Ball video game, but were ultimately unable to secure the license. They decided to take what they had and turn it into a new character: Goku’s power pole was replaced by by Alex’s fists and his design eventually shifted to what would become Alex. With this in mind, the series’ chibi artstyle could very well be rooted in OG Dragon Ball and people have pointed out some of the remaining similarities on sites like The Site That Formerly Had The Blue Bird. One particular similarity is vehicles: Various Dragon Ball artworks had an emphasis on vehicles owing to Akira Toriyama’s fondness for them and Kotaro “Ossale” Hayoshida has a similar interest. Thus, the two main console Alex Kidd platformers feature the Peticopter and the Sukopako Motorcycle.
Tumblr media
Plot:
The Alex Kidd franchise is emblematic of Sega’s approach to storylines in their games and builds off of what Fantasy Zone did before, as well as setting a standard that the Sonic series would follow later.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World takes on the Planet Aries, which is invaded by a tyrant known as Janken the Great. At the time, Alex was an orphan who trained under a master named Saint Nubia and thus had no idea of Janken’s take over until he came across some citizens. Alex goes back to his master who reveals to him the truth: Alex himself is one of the two princes of the kingdom of Radaxian. The royal family has been in a tizzy as the king disappeared shortly before Janken’s take over with acting king, Prince Igul/Egul, being held captive in Radaxian Castle itself. Alex thus sets off to not only save his kingdom, but his family as well, using the technique of Shellcore; a style of martial arts that allows its users to embiggen their limbs (or at least, their hands).
It’s not the most original plot, nor is it really the first platformer to put such emphasis on plot (Maybe. I’m not sure.). Still, considering that Sega had eyed Alex as a potential rival to Mario, it’s interesting to see some degree of ambition here: The reveal of Alex being the prince of Radaxian is saved for a couple levels in. When Alex needs to get into a nearby kingdom after rescuing his brother, he has to collect a letter inside Radaxian Castle (in turn, rescuing his brother) or he’ll be turned away. Even after beating Janken, Alex still needs to reclaim the Crown of Radaxian that Janken was after. It gives a general context for why you’re going through the stages that’s a smidge more varied than usual. And then there’s something else that I’ll mention later.
Compare this with the Mario games, which generally had little plot: SMB1 had functionally no plot outside of a general premise, Mario 3′s only major plot development is saved for World 8 and while Super Mario World narrates prose after each Koopaling is defeated, it doesn’t really have any more of a significant plot as was seen in Super Mario Bros 3. Overall, Sega’s games would have more ambitious plotlines, with Sonic picking up where Alex left off and taking it to further and higher heights.
Gameplay
Alex Kidd in Miracle World is a simple platformer. Alex’s two primary actions at any given time are jumping and punching something with his enlarged fist. Aside from vehicles and temporarily from a certain powerup, Alex can only over take one hit before dying. Lose all of your lives and it’s game over... although, if you have enough money (and know of a certain code in the original game) you can purchase another continue. Levels in Miracle World tend to be short, so it’s not too bad to die in the game (although you do lose the Telepathy Ball on a game over and certain stages the jungle can be a pain to get through normally).
Stages in Alex Kidd tend to vary: sometimes they’re simple platforming stages. Other times, Alex can use a vehicle: The motorcycle is optional and can be purchased from the shop, the boat appears automatically and the Peticopter (a pedal-based Helicopter) varies. These vehicles can make getting through a stage a breeze, but they only have one hitpoint: In the case of the motorcycle or stages where Alex can purchase the Peticopter, Alex must brave the rest of the stage himself. In the cases where he starts in a vehicle, Alex will fall into a level underneath the play area and have to work from there. Lastly there are castle levels that are significantly more mazelike. There’s only two such levels in the game: Radaxian Castle and Janken’s Castle.
Powerups differ from Super Mario Bros as well. While you’ll occasionally find power ups (usually extra lives) scattered throughout Radaxia in marked boxes, you’ll mostly be getting them from shops that litter the world. These shops cost money, which you can find scattered all over the place. The powerups range from a barrier that makes Alex immune to enemy attacks at the cost of not allowing him to attack, a ball that can shoot mini clones of Alex at enemies and a magic rod that lets Alex hover in the air. One powerup that you can only get from item boxes is Death, who will promptly chase Alex until scrolled offscreen. Another is skull boxes which aren’t necessarily powerups so much as they stun Alex for a moment if he punches them. Lastly is the Telepathy ball, which may or may not be critical to winning at Jankenpon, depending on your knowledge anyway.
At the end of certain stages, Alex will run into one of Janken’s minions (excepting Janken’s Castle, where he runs into the big man himself) and will have to play Jankenpon (i.e. Rock-Paper-Scissors). It’s pretty much as you’d expect: Music plays, Alex can pick a hand to chose, when the music stops you play the hand. Best 2 out of 3 are the rules and if Alex loses, he dies. There are two general work arounds for Jankenpon. 1st: Getting the Telepathy Ball allows Alex to see his opponent’s thoughts and therefore get an idea of what they’re going to pick. This is less helpful as it sounds as the thoughts occur in real time and are constantly shifting, meaning the opponent can suddenly switch their hand at the last second, giving you only a split second to react. However, the Telepathy Ball does help with the second option: Janken and his minions have set patterns when it comes to Jankenpon. Thus, if you know the pattern, you can easily sweep the two rounds needed to progress. The issue is that the patterns change if Alex loses a round (i.e. if the opponent chose scissors and Alex loses, he won’t choose scissors next time). Still, one could theoretically puzzle out the winning hands and learn to choose them each time.
Boss battles are a very non-graceful affair. In the first encounters with Janken’s generals, they will die immediately after losing. In the second encounters, they will actually fight by means of detaching their heads and/or shooting projectiles. Since mercy invulnerability does not exist for enemies and Alex himself dies in one hit, boss fights usually end quickly. The absolute irony is that the easiest boss in the game is none other than the final one, Janken the Great himself: His primary attack is shooting a projectile, and the nature of how he shoots it means that Alex can stand right next to him and be at no risk. Perhaps it’s for the best that the actual final challenge is a more puzzle-oriented level.
Re-releases and Ports
Alex Kidd in Miracle World was never as widely re-released as it’s Genesis sequel. The original game remained Master System exclusive until it landed on the Wii’s Virtual Console. It eventually made it to the PS3 in 2012 as part of the Sega Vintage Collection (or Sega Ages Online) line. Today, the two options for playing Miracle World legitimately are the Switch-Exclusive Sega Ages release by M2 or the Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX remake.
Miracle World DX generally updates the graphics, adds some new stages and expands on the story somewhat (the major difference being that Alex himself now has dialogue and the first stage now takes the place of the Japanese manual’s storyline to explain how Alex learns about Janken). The game has a few QoL options that make the game easier (better controls, infinite lives and permanently having the telepathy ball) but I believe achievements are disabled if those options are turned on. Also, I’m not sure if it’s a glitch, but progress seems to be tied to the game state (i.e. if you decide to replay Mt. Eternal after finishing the game, the game will reset your progress to as if you started a fresh game at Mt. Eternal). On the other hand, the game has some neat little touches such as collectibles referencing both other Alex Kidd games (even including Enchanted Castle’s interesting boxart) and other Sega games in general, including Sonic or how the food Alex eats can be changed (in the original game the donut riceball was changed to a hamburger. The remake gives you the ability to toggle the change and even adds a few new ones). The game also allows the player to shift the artstyle to one closely matching the original Miracle World at the push of a button. The overall consensus is that if you like the original Miracle World, you’ll probably like the remake, but if you didn’t, then you won’t be won over either. The game is faithful, perhaps to a fault (and even then, there’s almost assuredly some mechanical differences that I do not know about).
The Sega Ages version is more of a remaster. In addition to Original Mode, which is what that name implies, Ages mode adds a new soundtrack based on the FM Sound Unit: An add-on for the Sega Master System which improved the audio capabilities and could lead to some stark differences between it and the more “bleep-bloop”-ish PSG audio (Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars would have support for the FM Sound Unit and is a good example of such differences). Ages mode also adds new illustrations at the start of each level (covering the map, which can still be seen on the pause screen) and adds a rewind function, which can make playing the game easier.
Later Games
The franchise after Miracle World went in some... odd directions.
Tumblr media
(Multiverse theory means that there is a timeline where “with STELLA” became as much of a meme as “& Knuckles”, “Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series” “New Funky Mode”, etc)
The first follow-up was Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars (With Stella), an arcade title released the same year as Miracle World, getting a port to the Master System two years later. I’d tell the plot here, but there’s a bit of an issue: While I cannot read Japanese, the little I’ve parsed through DeepL suggests that it varies much differently from the English plot. This was kind of a thing Sega did on occasion (see: Sonic CD). Regardless of which region, the overall plot is that a greedy star known as the Ziggurat (or the Bloom?) is going around absorbing other stars. Alex and his new ??? Stella must go out and find the Miracle Balls to restore the constellations of Planet Aries. In terms of gameplay, it’s a bog-standard run ‘n jump with bizarre visuals. Alex can’t even attack enemies without a specific power up.
Tumblr media
(Pictured: Sega of America’s depiction of Alex Kidd, which would remain consistent in terms of western covers until Shinobi World)
The second, more direct follow-up is Alex Kidd and the Enchanted Castle for the Sega Genesis. If Miracle World was a flawed, if somewhat interesting game, then Enchanted Castle says “you are like baby: watch this.”
Gameplaywise: Alex has a new jumping-kick move when he descends, which requires positioning as it’s not a traditional jump attack. The plot-related elements that Miracle World had are non-existent, being a straightforward platformer. Rather than being strictly a boss battle affair, Jankenpon is now necessary to buy anything in the stores (or rather, the one item they have on display) and speaking of, there is only one proper boss fight in the main villain Ashura. Every other “boss” is a bout of Jankenpon. Most damningly, movement is just as slippery as ever and Alex still dies in a single hit.
Then there’s the ending, which...
The plot of Alex Kidd and the Enchanted Castle is that Alex hears a tip that his father is on another planet... namely, the planet that Janken the Great from the previous game is from. Alex travels there and fights his way to a castle in the sky, where he encounters Ashura, Janken’s son (maybe?). After defeating him, Ashura runs into the next room where King Thor/Thunder is waiting, perfectly fine. As it turns out King Thor had never been taken prisoner; He was visiting Janbarik/Paperock and took Ashura as his servant. The End.
Tumblr media
(Alex’s Enchanted Castle design would go on to become the base for his modern design, albeit with some minor changes).
And here’s where the franchise gets weird.
Alex Kidd in Hi-Tech World was released for the Sega Master System the same year as Enchanted Castle. This one is interesting as it never released in Japan. Why? Because I lied: It did, but it wasn’t connected to Alex Kidd at all.
Tumblr media
Anmitsu Hime was a Japanese manga/anime about a tomboy princess getting into all sorts of antics. It got a licensed video game in 1987. About 2 years later, Sega of America decided to “SMB2″ it for... reasons I cannot fathom. The main character was replaced by Alex, the characters were changed to be legally distinct versions, and the objective was switched from reaching a cake shop to reaching Hi-Tech World to play some Sega games (meaning the title is technically a lie: Alex is in Hi-Tech World in the ending).
So if you were ever wondering why Radaxian Castle went from a European Castle to a Japanese castle, why Alex’s parents are suddenly overtly Japanese, why Alex is being attacked by ninjas, etc, that’s why.
And speaking of ninjas...
Tumblr media
(Alex is by everything as he contemplates the state of his franchise)
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World was the last Alex Kidd game originally released in 1990, just a year before his speedy blue understudy would enter the scene. The plot is simple: Alex’s girlfriend is kidnapped by the Dark Ninja. The White Ninja, deciding that Alex is a bad enough dude to rescue her, grants him ninja powers. And all of this takes place on Planet Shinobi.
This is a weird one.
Despite being made by Sega’s R&D 2, Shinobi World was never released in Japan. It was called “Shinobi Kid(d)” during development, raising questions of if it was ever intended to be an Alex Kidd-related game. The first boss was originally a parody of Mario. This game, overall, was the note this series ended on.
Apparently, it plays really well by virtue of being based on Shinobi, so a high note. Still pretty sad when you think about it.
There is one last game to talk about regarding the Alex Kidd franchise, but it isn’t a sequel. On the contrary, it predates the series and even afterwards, it’s not immediately clear how it fits.
Tumblr media
(Pitter Potter)
Pit Pot is a puzzle game, somewhat like Tower of Druaga. A knight, wielding a magical hammer, must save a princess who is trapped in the titular Castle Pit Pot by a witchsorceress. The knight, Igul, searches the castle for the three treasures he needs and succeeds in rescuing the princess.
But what does that have to do with Alex Kidd? Because Igul, the knight who’s the main character, is in fact the same Igul/Egul who is acting king of Radaxian, and the princess who is rescued after defeating Janken, Princess Lora/Rooney, is indeed the same princess that Igul rescued in Pit Pot. This is furthered by the Alex Kidd Complete Album release, which includes music from Pit Pot.
And Pit Pot, itself, is a sequel to an unreleased game called “Chain Pit”.
In any case, the Miracle World DX remake references this further The collectible for Radaxian Castle is given to Alex by the captain of the royal guard. The collectible in question? Igul’s hammer.
Other Appearances & Legacy
While never reaching the lows of say, Bubsy for example, Sega did have some fun poking at Alex’s failure to truly take off. Altered Beast has tombstones reading “Alex” and “Stella”, a reference to Lost Stars. Alex also featured in Segagaga, including a scene where he speaks with the main protagonist, Taroh, in order to convince him not to give up after he has been fired from Sega. Segagaga is a parody RPG of sorts, being one of the last games Sega made before exiting the console market (with the game itself reflecting the state they were in). With that in mind, the entire game takes on a bittersweet tone and Alex’s speech and reflection on his failure to catch on have a similar feeling, especially one scene that implies that Alex felt envious of Sonic (his replacement).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alex has also been a mainstay of the Sega Superstars/Sonic & All Stars brand since Superstars Tennis.  While the franchise in general never got a court or track, Alex himself still has a slew of references: His Superstar State in Tennis is based on Jankenpon from the two main console games while All Stars Racing features the Sukopako motorcycle as his standard vehicle and Peticopter as his All-Star move. Sega still finds use for Alex even today as a mascot for their early years, with the Sega Ages line on Nintendo Switch having Alex present the games. Alex also appeared in the back half of the Mega Man/Sonic Archie crossover Worlds Unite (i.e. Sega X Capcom, sadly not as exciting as you’d think).
Tumblr media
(But it still gave us stuff like this image)
And of course, the Miracle World remake, which started as a fan project.
Conclusion
So... why did I type up all of that?
I dunno. I feel like Alex Kidd is a series that had potential, but squandered it. Miracle World is decent, if flawed, but Enchanted Castle doesn’t fix (or even doubles down) on those issues. I haven’t played the other games yet but given what I’ve seen of Lost Stars and the nature of the other two games, I’m not keeping expectations high. I suppose I’m just lamenting what could’ve been with this charming little series after playing both versions of Miracle World.
Of course, we got Sonic from all of that. People can argue over how worth it it was considering the later games and the fanbase and etc, but overall probably the best call...
Alex’s future these days is no better or worse than it has been for years. A proper follow up game is as unlikely as it’s always been. “Ossale” has stated/joked that if he could make a modern day Alex Kidd, it would be a realistic first-person action game with a feeling similar to the movie, Shaolin Soccer.
Miracle World still has a fanbase, especially in regions such as Brazil where the Master System is fondly regarded. The game even has a modest fan-hacking scene: You won’t find anything on the level of, say, Sonic: The Next Level, but it’s still noteworthy. Full on fan-games are rarer, but SAGE 2023 did have someone make an “Alex Kidd CD” to imagine what Alex Kidd would be like on the Sega CD, so there’s that.
Will we ever see a fangame that reinvents Alex Kidd with a detail of quality comparable to the finer Sonic fan games? Probably not, but imagine if we did, and Alex and Stella got an adventure that endeared them to players.
It’d be a Miracle.

Alex Kidd In Miracle World | SMS LongPlay [002]
Many centuries ago, on the planet Aries, there lived a boy called Alex Kidd. For seven years, he lived on Mt. Eternal studying Shellcore, an ancient art that makes one strong enough to break rocks into pieces. As he was leaving the mountain one day to travel to his spiritual homeland, a dying man told him that the peaceful city of Radactian was in grave danger. Before taking his last breath, the man gave Alex a piece of a map and a medallion made of Sun Stone. There are eleven locations in which Alex must explore, each of them has its own unique dangers. In each location, Alex can collect bags of coins, which can be used to buy items at the shop and are used to help Alex get through each location (eg: motorcycle, peticopter, power bracelet, etc.) There are also traps that Alex must avoid like the ghost that chases him. He can also collect the Telepathy Ball that will help him read people's minds. Later, Alex learns that in order to save Radactian from destruction, he must first defeat Janken the Great, Emperor of the planet Janbarik (he got his name from his expertise at the game of Janken -- or what people call "scissors, paper, stone" in the Western World. Janken has sent his henceman all over Radactian to prepare the game for Alex as he passes by them. In order to get past them, Alex must win three times at Janken. If he loses, he is turned to stone and vanished from Radactian forever. Later on in the game, Alex must play with the same henceman, but only this time, when Alex wins, they decide to play dirty. Alex uses his fists to wipe out some of Janken's enemies such as birds, sea horses, bats, monkeys, frogs, and a few others. If his quest to save Radactian from the evil hands of Janken becomes difficult, he can instead use the power bracelet to perform the "Shocking Waves of Destruction", an ancient trick in the art of Shellcore. Before Alex comes face-to-face with Janken, he should rescue his brother, Egle, from imprisonment, and get the letter and two medallions.

“Saishowaguu…jankenpon!”
Dazai’s splayed out hand playfully devours Kousuke’s fist. “Hehehe! Another point for me~”
Kousuke groaned in exasperation, “I lost again?! That’s the twentieth! Odasaku, Dazai-san is definitely cheating.”
Dazai turned his nose up, a glint of smugness in his right eye. “But I’m simply very brilliant at games! Right, Odasaku?”
The red haired man took a bite of his curry and nodded, “Dazai’s very smart. But if you tickle and overpower him in numbers, it will be your victory.”
“W-Wait, Odasaku—“
Kousuke, Yuu, Sakura, Shinji and Katsumi all look at him with keen interest sparkling in their eyes.
“Well then,” The boy who lost the recent round of janken turns to the brunet who was now using Ango as a make shift barrier between them.
“Dazai-kun, don’t use me as a shield! Face your enemies like a man, you idiot!” The man yanks his body out of his friend’s grasp and sits beside Odasaku to continue eating his bento in peace.
Odasaku’s kids slowly inch closer to Dazai with fingers ready to make him surrender with laughter.
The bespectacled traitor pushes his glasses to the bridge of his nose, “This is what you get for making a lot of enemies, Dazai-kun.”
“T-Traitors! Y-You lot! I—“ Whatever words Dazai was supposed to say were replaced with shrieks, barks and wheezes of laughter. The kids happily and easily pinpoints his sides, underarms and knees as his weakness in tickles. Two of them lock his arms above his head and his legs were sat on to avoid the possibility of escape.
Ango and Odasaku watches with amusement as the kids torture Dazai with their own “mafia-style torture” as they like to call it.
“A-Ango—Hahahaha—I-I’ll make y—Hahahaha—P-P-Pay—!!!”
Dazai Osamu forces the words out in between his laughter, desperately trying to gain his breath as he was tickled to death. The mole roles his eyes and takes a bite of his karaage.
“No! NooO—I-I s-surrender—Hahahaha!!”
It continued on for a few more seconds before Odasaku set his finished plate of curry down to placate the kids and the brunet, “Alright, alright, I think Dazai’s had enough.”
The kids relent and giggle but Kousuke, ever relentless, crosses his arms and exclaims, “I demand a rematch. This time it’s playing tag! Odasaku, Ango-san! You’ll join us this time.”
Dazai’s eyes glint with that irritating smugness again. “Another game? Alright then!” He pushes himself off the ground and dusts himself off.
Odasaku glances at Ango, the invitation to play was unspoken yet easily read.
Ango sighs and mutters, “But I just ate…”
Odasaku smiles, “If you puke, we’ll be there to stop the game and exclude you.”
The bespectacled man’s lips twitches into a wry grin as he stands up and goes to where Dazai and the kids were waiting, “That doesn’t make me feel any better.” His tone was light but amused, if a little weary about puking in a park.
Odasaku-san pats his shoulder in comfort, “There’s a public bathroom nearby if it helps. Also,” The man pauses and tenses, causing Ango to do the same.
“You’re it.”
Then Odasaku-san sprints, the kids and Dazai scatter as if a kaijuu was after them.
“Last one who gets tagged will pay for ice cream!”
Dazai yells from somewhere and it is so on.

“K - THE FIRST STORY”
CHAPTER 6: SIN (Complete)
* K - The First Story (List of Chapters) * Projects & Chapters
Translation: Naru-kun Raws: Ridia
"I will be a servant of the king."
When he first told him that, he thought this kid might be a little crazy.
Suoh met Tatara Totsuka when he was a high school student and Totsuka was a middle school student.
Suoh at that time was not yet a "king", he was just a boy who was strong in fighting. Rather, Suoh, who was rejected by those around him, did not socialize, and lived properly alone, was far from being a King.
However, Totsuka appeared at one point and followed Suoh calling him "King". At the end of the day, he said, "I will be a servant of the king."
He thought he might be crazy, but Suoh did not reject Totsuka. He thought it was okay for him to like him, and the friendly but not greasy Totsuka was not unpleasant, and when he realized it, he was like a friend.
Because he was close to Suoh, who had many enemies, Totsuka had been lynched. However, Totsuka, who broke his leg, broke the bones in his arm and fingers, broke his forehead and was lying in the hospital bed covered in bandages, laughed without breaking his usual tone. He shook off the question of who had hurt him and enveloped him in smoke. Although he called himself the servant of a king, he was too free to answer even a question from the person he called king.
"For the time being, I'll be going home."
Suoh was amazed and said that. It was a summer day shortly after Totsuka's wounds were completely healed.
Suoh went to the festival with Totsuka and Kusanagi. Kusanagi and Suoh, who were seniors and juniors from the same high school, naturally mixed with Totsuka, and by that time, it was becoming more common for the three of them to hang out together, and that day too, when he was walking with him. at night, he hears the noise of the festival passing by.
"I want to eat takoyaki! Come to the festival." Totsuka said, and Suoh replied, "I'm sorry." Totsuka looked a bit thoughtful and suggested, "Then the person who loses the game will go buy it." He said that thinking it was a good idea. Even if Suoh had a sour face, Totsuka was ready to say "Janken...", Kusanagi laughed and joined in, so Suoh made a move as well. Suoh takes his fist out of him, but Totsuka and Kusanagi spread their palms open. Suoh got even more astringent, but it was a game that he accidentally got into. When he silently turned towards the hustle and bustle of the festival, Kusanagi said in an interesting voice, "Unexpectedly disciplined.", and Totsuka said, "It looks like fun, so let's follow him, Kusanagi-san."
He then thought he should go, but in the end he let his like it and the three of them walked between the stalls.
The crowd was woody, but hunger was fueled when he walked in the sound and smell of baked food.
Wandering the stall-lined streets, he bought some food, sat on the stone steps of the shrine, and Suoh looked good-naturedly at Totsuka piercing the takoyaki as he polished grilled corn with the fragrant aroma of burnt soy sauce. "What are you coming home to?" He said.
Totsuka tilted his head with a sharp look.
"You are not a servant, no matter what you think."
"Sure. I don't think there is any servant who wants to let the king go buy takoyaki."
Kusanagi puts the yakisoba on his knee and breaks the chopsticks.
Totsuka frowns in regret.
"I didn't let you go. I played fair. After all, the three of us went shopping."
"You do what you want."
Laughing at Kusanagi, Totsuka put a regretful look on his mouth. He was flirting with the heat.
"Your vision of the servants is certainly a mystery. No, when you said you would be a servant of the king, I had already thought that your idea was a mystery."
He swallowed the Takoyaki and thought Totsuka was weird. Kusanagi turned the tea from the side.
"Mikoto, King. What do you want to call him?"
"Oh, that's right. King, I wanted to call him 'King' because he felt like a king from the first glance."
Totsuka made a serious face and looked straight ahead.
"I think one day he will be a great person in the midst of people. At that time, I will work harder than I do now."
"What a servant job."
"In that case... Do you give the king a good laugh?"
"He is an entertainer who makes you laugh."
Totsuka laughed and saw Suoh.
"I'm the one who brings 'fun'. I'll keep doing it until King says he doesn't need me."
"I do not want."
"Bye."
"Hey. Isn't it useless to say no?"
He was a strange and energetic guy. But in the end, Suoh really enjoyed the festival that day.
King was supposed to be just a playful nickname given by Totsuka, but three years later, Suoh really became known as the King.
It was an awakening in the conflict. There was a big dispute involving the entire city of Shizume, Suoh was attacked by a man and during the fight, the Slate called out to him.
In the darkness he was thrown into, losing sight of his surroundings, Suoh felt his heartbeat synchronize with something.
The moment he instinctively felt that it was the beat of the "Slate", the power, memory and intention of the "Slate" flowed towards Suoh.
Suoh became "King". A huge red sword floated in the sky.
The Sword of Damocles.
A test of the "King", a symbol of the power of the "King", and a sword that judges and kills the "King".
Shame made him feel lost, which was rare for Suoh. Totsuka also thought that he might have been chosen by a strange man and because he called him by a stupid name.
Kusanagi and Totsuka looked at each other stunned, and Suoh spread his flaming hands and asked, without giving any explanation.
"Would you like to hold my hand?"
Suoh knew from "King's" instinct that if this flame passed, a part of Suoh's power would take root in them, but they didn't understand exactly what would happen if they took that hand. Others would not have. Still, they took Suoh's hand on fire without hesitation.
At that moment, Suoh chose a path. It is a way of making friends. It is a lie to say that he never thought that his choice was wrong, but it is also different if they ask him if he regrets.
Kusanagi and Totsuka also chose a path. They took Suoh's hand, and chose a path where they could enjoy Suoh's flames.
As soon as they took his hand, Kusanagi's and Totsuka's body was engulfed in flames. The flame did not burn them, but settled on their bodies. He did not inflict a single burn, but instead left proof that they were members of Suoh's clan on their bodies. On Kusanagi's right shoulder blade and Totsuka's left shoulder blade, a red figure of a flame emerged. The shape of the flame that inhabits the interior has emerged on the surface of the skin and is now permeating as a symbol of "Homura".
Even if Totsuka unexpectedly noticed the claim to "become a servant of the king" as the playful words he said when he was in high school, nothing changed.
As usual, he was free, he did not listen to Suoh's words and he lived happily as he liked.
Suoh offered a hand to anyone who asked, so the number of friends increased one after another. People who do not have a container to accept the flame will see pain, but many people who are prepared to hold the burning hand manage to accept the flame and gain power.
The ritual that gives birth to a Clansman. It seems that rigid people call it "installation", but in "Homura", the term "test" was repeated, and the number of people increased, and Suoh was placed on top of many people. He had the appearance of a "king".
Kusanagi and Totsuka formed, turned and organized a group of friends named "Homura" instead of Suoh, who was there. Kusanagi ran the organization with his skill, and Totsuka with his natural personality became a lubricant among the people, and created a place where the people gathered there could think of a "whereabouts".
It was just when he became a member of "Homura".
That day there was a silly conflict with the mob, and Suoh came out. He left behind the swirling flames and heat in his body and went all the way to radiate even a little.
The power of the "Red King" was out of control for Suoh. A mass of power like magma was so close to Suoh's nature and desires that he often seduced him.
The temptation to unleash all power, burn all the bonds that cling to him, destroy all the fences around him, and turn the area into a free and wide desert.
Even before he woke up as "King", that urge slept deep in his stomach. But he now he has the power to do it. If Suoh wants, he can destroy everything and turn the world into a scorched field.
Suoh had no choice but to suppress the pesky temptations and urges and sometimes diverge the power from him in small amounts.
That's why he also went to the battlefield that day. However, the result was only a punishment. They were just fragile humans, trying to pull the opponent's weapons from him, the mob, and Suoh could only make the gesture of wielding a small limb by gently shaking his fist, which was restrained. Only the disease of the weak, as if intimidating, was left as a harsh aftertaste.
"I'm stressed."
When he returned to the HOMRA Bar, Kusanagi muttered with a sigh that seemed astonished. Anna, who was waiting at the bar, ran over and sat next to Suoh, who sat on the couch. Suoh looked at his right hand on his fist, not looking at her.
It is a fist that has just hit a person. The people around him flew and fell just by waving their arms without taking a step. If he put a little more effort into it, the shape of the person would surely collapse, and if he had increased the flame output a little more, it would have been burned to pieces.
Energy and heat with nowhere to go corrode Suoh from within.
He was so frustrated that he couldn't breathe. When he impulsively stood up, a soft, carefree voice rang out.
"Today's dinner is Thai soup!"
At that voice, the pressure that was tearing the outer skin from within Suoh relaxed, and Suoh stopped. He relaxed the fist he was holding firmly enough to make a sound. He looks up.
On the couch opposite, there was a bundle of white blanket. The edge of the blanket turned and Totsuka who was lying down came out.
"Are you here?"
"Of course. This is my place to nap. Thanks for your hard work."
Suoh lowered his fist in dismay at Totsuka, who was waking up with a relaxed voice.
"What job? It was a boring skirmish."
Totsuka finished waking up and got up. The blanket was still covering him, making him look like a monk.
"Kusanagi-san was wondering why King would move."
Suoh looked at Kusanagi at the counter. Kusanagi is polishing the glass as usual. Suoh himself was aware that he didn't need to do anything today. Although they didn't need to have Suoh, he came out and shook his fist, and as a result, he was recruiting more people.
A small sentence leaked out, leaning against the couch as if to throw it away.
"Why did I become a 'King'?"
"I knew from the beginning, that you were different from other people."
From the moment they met, Totsuka called Suoh "King". At the time, it can be said that Totsuka seemed to be crazy, but in the end he was right, and Suoh became the "Red King".
However, even now, Suoh still feels awkward about being in the "King" position.
Yata and the others treat "Homura's scarlet" as the most important thing. He is proud of the "sign" that appears below his left clavicle as proof of his partner, he looks at Suoh with hopeful eyes and defines "Homura" as the place where he lives. It's not just Yata. This is the case with many people in "Homura".
However, that power was also a straitjacket.
"I seem to attract everyone's attention. What kind of king is that?"
"Even if you say that, you are very important."
Totsuka said that with an unexpectedly serious voice.
He can't argue with him, Suoh folds his mouth into a U shape.
Totsuka smiled and pointed to the side. When he shifted his gaze according to Totsuka's fingertips, he met the big eyes of Anna sitting next to Suoh.
Anna's red eyes see through many things. Suoh was reluctant to see what was inside her in her eyes, and gently moved his gaze from her.
He cannot argue with Anna, the flame-burning friends with Suoh, Kusanagi and Totsuka, who have been by his side since he was a student, and this place where they meet.
But because of that, Suoh also feels clinging. He can't go anywhere because it's important. And if he makes a mistake, he will burn them.
Suoh looked at his palm. This is probably the hand of the mighty King.
But what is the "King" for? What will this hand, which has the power of destruction and the power of ruin, do in the future?
"I will one day."
Suoh spilled those words.
"Hey. Somehow, everything will work out."
Totsuka said that in a singing voice and stood up slowly.
"You have always been the carefree type."
Suoh said that with weakening consternation, and Totsuka came around the table and approached Suoh.
With a soft, confident smile, Totsuka looked at Suoh.
"There is nothing to fear. You are a King. Your power is not to destroy."
Totsuka points his fist towards Suoh, who reflexively catches it with his palm.
"It is there to protect."
Totsuka laughed, putting his powerless white fist in the hand of the "King" who has the power to destroy everything if he wanted to.
"I assure you."
Suoh looked at Totsuka for a while.
Totsuka once said that he would be the one to bring "fun" to the king. When he caught on, Totsuka certainly brought fun things to Suoh one after another, making an increasing number of friends laugh and creating a nice place to stay.
Suoh's power is said to be to protect, although the place may be erased.
Although he is not ignorant of the horror of fire.
He thought he should say something, but no good words came out, and in the end Suoh said in a silly voice that it didn't matter.
"What kind of soup?"
"Have you never tried it? It's like a hot and sour soup. It's reddish and looks really spicy, but it has an unexpected complex flavor."
Totsuka happily talks about a soup with a strange name that seems to be today's dinner. Anna, who had been sitting next to Suoh in silence until then, leaned forward a bit.
"It's red?"
"That's right, it's red. Anna, let's do it together."
"You are going to cook?"
Totsuka made a peace sign and laughed.
"I really like to cook right now."
Totsuka was an amateur. He tried to do what he thought was fun and his friends were involved in that hobby.
The Thai soup, which Totsuka made with Anna, seems to have been a time when cooking was among his hobbies, it had many spices and fragrances that Suoh would eat for the first time, and it certainly had a complicated taste. It seemed to be redder than usual, probably to please Anna, who can only see the color red. The shrimp inside were delicious.
Suoh often has nightmares.
The dream usually comes when Suoh is about to lose power stability.
In his dream, Suoh is rumored to be on fire. The flames in his body roar in search of freedom.
The flame erupted violently from inside the body, and Suoh shed his fangs, driven by the sweet temptation to release it.
Suoh, who removed his fangs, turns into a beast. Human society, thoughts, ethics, emotions and all that kind of thing disappear and they become a fiery beast that is just instinct.
The flames thrown by Suoh turned into a fierce fire and swallowed the city. The familiar cityscape is burned by flames, swallowed up by boiling magma, and collapses.
The creatures evaporate blood, bones melt, and even ash disappears.
Suoh felt overwhelming pleasure as he gave in to the urge to destroy and blaze through him. The soul cried out for joy as it submerged freely and became a mass of pure power.
However, in a world where flames have witnessed it all, the city has dwindled and no one is alive, including his friends, Suoh stands up.
The world where the flames were extinguished was cold, and Suoh knelt to collapse.
In a cold world that has changed from the previous one, only Suoh is hot, and Suoh's breath is tinted white as smoke.
He is afraid of this all the time.
He feels that that moment will come one day.
Even if the world cools down, the flames in Suoh will not go out and the black charcoal will spread from Suoh's palm to the entire body as if the flames were eroding.
Suoh was terrified, as it seemed to be a sign that he himself was no longer human.
No, he is no longer really human. That hand is the hand of a monster that destroys everything.
At the top, he can hear the collapse of the sword of Damocles. It will soon reach the head of Suoh, who has lost his qualification of "king".
"Hey, I'll do something about it."
He hears a soft voice. Suoh raised his face like an idiot.
In a world where everything burns, Totsuka was standing and smiling.
Incorrect. Because he is gone.
"Your power is not to destroy, but to protect."
Totsuka says that with the same voice as that day.
At that moment, Suoh believed those words. He decided to believe him. By defining his power in that way, he looked away from the work that was under him and covered it.
However, the lid was opened.
Suoh was in a position, covering his face with his burned hands.
Suddenly, he heard a song of joy.
When he looks up, the abandoned castle of Suoh's burned remains and Totsuka's figure disappeared.
There, on the rooftop of the building at night, a boy standing by the fence is singing a song with his back to him and shaking his body.
The boy shook his shoulders and laughed, then turned and fired.
A gunshot sounds and a burning fever and severe pain spread through the stomach. Suoh slowly looked at his belly. He looked at the red blood spreading and touched it with his palm. He had the feeling that blood was pouring out of the hole in his stomach.
Well, Suoh wondered if he was shot dead like that.
"Is it a good night? Oh, sure it's a good night!"
The happy voice of the boy who shot echoed.
A flame rises from Suoh's body. Suoh has now completely renounced control of the flame.
The fire spreads like a red tsunami with Suoh as the center of explosion. The flame that turns everything into a desert perfumes the world.
Perhaps something important was coming out of the hole in his stomach along with the blood, and Suoh's insides were empty, and he felt a terrible loss. But at the same time, he was also impressed that it was so easy.
Unleashing the flames, Suoh spread his arms and looked up at the sky.
The sword of Damocles, which no longer retains its original shape, loses its light and begins to fall as if the thread had been broken.
"Mikoto."
A girl's voice reached his ears. Anna. A young but mature girl who snuggled close to Suoh. Totsuka told him that she was important and he couldn't argue with him.
She is calling Suoh.
"Mikoto, don't go."
But it's too late.
The tip of the falling sword comes close to Suoh's eyes.
++++++++++
When he opened his eyes, his heart was screaming out loud.
He was sweating all over his body.
Suoh blinked several times, realized that he was dreaming and exhaled slowly.
He was in the "Scepter 4" detention center. Suoh lay on a board where he slept badly, staggering, and apparently had a nightmare that was a little different than usual.
He exhaled a long, warm breath.
Suoh did not make the world a scorched field.
Suoh's sword has not fallen.
Not yet.
When he curled his back a little, the chain on the deck made a loud metallic noise.
"Fool."
Poisoned by a person, Suoh closes his eyes again.
++++++++++
He doesn't know Tatara Totsuka. He hasn't killed anyone.
Although he was convinced of that, the boy had a sense of anxiety that he could not erase.
The boy must have been in Gakuenjima at the time that person named Tatara Totsuka was killed. He has that memory in him. However, no one clearly stated that the boy was there.
Also, the bloody shirt that was shoved into the back of the boy's closet was a big problem.
"Here you have!"
A cheerful voice was heard, and a tray with a plate of steaming, good-smelling grilled fish was placed in front of the boy.
The boy comes to, and raises his face.
The boy stopped by a convenience store called "Yamadaya" during the purchase requested by Kukuri. It was an old shop with a retro interior and a simple menu, but it was a popular shop with Gakuenjima students because it was cheap and had an exceptional taste. Since it is located near the connecting bridge that connects to Gakuenjima, it is a favorite shop for commuters, and students living in dormitories often stop by when they go out in search of a warm family treat.
The boy has also visited this store many times with Kukuri and the others. That should be it.
The boy shook his head slightly when he realized that he had lost confidence in everything.
Freshly baked and fragrant horse mackerel, plump white rice, and hot miso soup. Did he really eat this menu many times?
Neko, beside him, happily waved the horse mackerel.
"Hey, what are you thinking? I'm telling you we're not done yet."
Kuro shook his eyes and said that looking at the boy.
"Ah, what?"
"There is still a suspicion against you. If you are not the murderer, then there must be someone who impersonated you."
"Oh, it's true..."
When he found that bloody shirt, the boy quickly hid it. Perhaps it was one of the clues to the true criminal that he hid that shirt, since he may have been beaten by the true criminal.
But he did not. When he saw that blood, he felt a sense of fear and self-doubt. He felt the existence of "Isana Yashiro, who was in Gakuenjima on the night of December 7", which he had taken for granted until a while ago, was reeling.
The boy is now more confused than Kuro and begins to doubt himself.
Neko, unaware of the boy's anguish, was secretly reaching for his chopsticks to steal his food after eating his own horse mackerel. Kuro slaps her hand without looking at her.
The boy smiled and transferred his portion to Neko's plate. To be honest, he now he didn't have much of an appetite.
When Neko received the horse mackerel she raised her hands and was pleased, she looked at him with a bitter face.
"We came here just because you keep complaining that you're hungry. Shut up for a bit."
After looking at Kuro who was scolding her like a mother, Neko, who was in a good mood, ate the delicious food without worrying about it. The boy looked around the store with his chopsticks stopped.
He is too early for dinner, so there are no customers but them. The owner crouched at the entrance of the store and gave a piece of fish to a stray cat. The owner who gleefully looks at the cat sticking his face into the plate and eating gently is a great cat lover, and this shop is popular not only with Gakuenjima students but also with cats, and there are stray cats coming frequently.
Looking further, he notices the cork board on the wall. There are plenty of snapshots with handwritten messages like "It was delicious!" And "I love Yamadaya-san's shop." There was also a photo of Kukuri, Inaba and Mishina.
"Sir, this photo..."
When the boy called him, the owner who was watching the cat's food got up and came over.
"Oh, these are photos of my usual customers. They have always been posted here."
"I don't see mine here."
"Oh, really? How strange. You're a regular customer."
The merchant mysteriously twisted his head.
The boy looks at the photo of Kukuri and the others. If he sees his friends being photographed like this, he should take the initiative to enter the scene. The merchant will probably try to point the camera at the boy. But why isn't there a photo of him? Did he happen to be busy when the boy came and wasn't trying to take pictures? For some reason, he can't remember well.
After finishing the meal, he left the store. As he moved on to Shizume, the boy couldn't get back on track.
Even when Neko spoke to the boy, which is usually vague, it was a distant feeling, like being called from behind a wall of glass.
"Hey... Hey, Isana Yashiro!"
Called by Kuro in a scolding voice, the boy raises his face. When he realized it, he was in front of "Kagitamaya". It's the place where the people from "Homura" attacked him right after he bought the fireworks the other day.
"He's too lazy for a while. Do you know exactly what Kukuri asked you to buy? What kind of fireworks do you buy here?"
"Uh, yeah, wait a minute. I've made a note..."
He handed the note he took out of his pocket to Kuro. However, as soon as he received the memo, he made a bold face.
"You... how am I supposed to read this?"
"Oh, I do not know..."
The boy's shopping memo was written in mysterious characters like hieroglyphs. It was terrible.
Maybe he was distracted by something else, he didn't write in Japanese, and in fact for some reason things like the alphabet got mixed up here and there.
Kuro drew a blue line.
"What good is a note if you can't read it ?!"
"Oh, wait, wait. I'm trying to remember what I was thinking about as I was writing it."
"You…"
Kuro stood up, but sighed a little as if he had immediately given up.
"Okay. All you have to do is contact Kukuri."
Kuro takes out a PDA from his pocket. Then suddenly...
"Nya!"
Neko screamed and ran towards Kuro.
"What?!"
"Why would you call her?!"
"What does that mean? I'm requesting contact information for this kind of time."
Kuro shows the PDA with a suspicious face. The boy was also dismayed by Neko's sudden uproar.
She was always energetic and noble, but now she had a surprisingly troubled face.
"You can go back and ask her directly! Hey, Shiro, let's go home!"
The boy was filled with words when they called out to him with narrowed eyes.
"Why do we have to go back? What do you think we have phones for?"
"Wow, I hate phones!"
"Why?"
Neko flushed and fell silent, eyes rolling uneasily as if she were searching for an excuse. However, maybe she didn't come out at all, she scratched her head with a crying face and yelled "Nya!" again as if she had a habit.
Immediately, she disappears and a little kitten appears more familiar to the boy than a girl. The kitten ran away with a strangely sad voice.
"Neko?"
"What was that?"
Kuro was looking in the direction Neko was leaving with a face mixed with confusion and dismay, but he operated his PDA as if he had regained his mind, and called out to Kukuri. He offered the boy the ringing PDA, so that he could speak for himself.
"Hello."
Immediately the phone was connected and he heard Kukuri's usual bright voice.
"Ah, it's me, Isana. We're here buying the fireworks, but..."
"Isana? Who?"
He hears Kukuri's mysterious voice.
The boy's breathing stops for a moment.
"What are you talking about? It's me, Isana Yashiro. You know, Shiro."
"Shiro? Sorry, but I don't know anyone named Shiro. You must have the wrong number."
The call was hung up while the boy was away and silent.
(Welcome, Shiro-kun! Come back early!)
Kukuri's voice that said that and laughed a while ago and Kukuri's voice that mysteriously said "Who?", overlap.
His feet wobble and the sense of reality disappears. The boy wandered in fear and anxiety that what he believed was broken and crumbling.
"Hey, give it back to me."
Sensing the change in the boy, Kuro seems suspicious. However, the PDA is no longer connected to Kukuri.
The boy was stunned and slowly lowered the PDA that he was holding to his ear.
"What happened?"
"Kukuri doesn't remember me. She says she doesn't know any Isana Yashiro."
For a moment, Kuro frowned.
"Was she kidding?"
"It didn't feel like a joke."
In contrast to the boy, who appears annoyed, Kuro seems to calmly think about the direction Neko was running.
"Neko was acting strange. She may have done something to Kukuri. For the moment, let's go back to Gakuenjima."
Kuro started walking without waiting for the boy's response. The boy silently grabs Kuro's hand. He felt Kuro stop and turned around, but the boy remained depressed and didn't look up.
"Hey, Kuro... can I borrow your phone again?"
"What are you going to do?"
"I'll call my parents' house."
"Why?"
"I want someone to tell me that I really am Isana Yashiro."
Then the world of the tottering and collapsing boy could rebound.
The boy writes the parents' house number, which he remembers slightly on the PDA, and gently holds the PDA to his ear when the call rings.
Oh, by the way, he thinks it's been a long time since he has talked to his family.
As he closed his eyes and waited nervously, he heard a small sound that made a call.
"Hi, I'm Yashiro..."
"The phone you called is not currently in use. Check the number."
The boy's world collapses.
++++++++++
At dusk, the angled reddish sun shone through the window.
Kusanagi finishes a few work calls alone at the quiet HOMRA bar. He hasn't been able to open the bar properly in recent days, but he can't blame the business associates. He made his feel a bit resentful of his nature, causing him to change his daily life properly even in such an emergency.
Anna, who continues to use her responsiveness and eventually finds out where the criminal is, is tired and sleeping upstairs. It seems that Yata, who jumped, joined Kamamoto on the way and entered Gakuenjima as expected, but not only did he have no results, but after fighting with Fushimi, he was stopped by Lieutenant Awashima. There was a report by phone.
When Kusanagi wondered what to do next, the doorbell rang.
Kusanagi smiled seeing the woman enter the bar with the sound of stomping on her heels.
"Before the store opens, okay?"
"How can I oppose such a beautiful lady? On the other hand, I heard you went after my boys."
A beautiful woman in an elegant dress, and decorating her neck and her wrists with pearl accessories, walks around him. Her chest-length hair was pulled down and slightly dislodged.
She walked over to the counter, took off her coat, and sat on the stool.
"How was your order? Lieutenant Awashima Seri from "Scepter 4". Also known as the merciless woman."
"Can you tell your boys not to do those things?"
"But Seri-chan, you are as cold as ice."
Awashima, when dressed in the uniform of "Scepter 4", is as strong as a man in a masculine, cold and scary society (this is why the nickname "merciless woman" suits her perfectly, as opposed to appearance Kusanagi), the atmosphere becomes a little softer in private, showing the femininity of a normal age.
She was a hidden customer of this bar.
"A Martini."
"Oui, mademoiselle. What's your recipe today?"
"Let me see… Four parts gin and one-part vermouth. And I'd like 5 parts of anko, please."
This order that destroys the Martini, as a master of a bar who loves cocktails, he was already used to.
"Oui, mademoiselle."
Kusanagi replied in a painful voice and took the container full of anko out of the refrigerator. Unfortunately, this bar always has anko to fulfill her special requests.
Dry martini with strong gin. Normally, an olive is added, but a large number of anko balls are added instead. Kusanagi doesn't want to call this desperate cocktail Martini, but Awashima always asks for this terrifying drink that makes the Martini taste disappear.
"That is one of the parts I can never love about you, Seri-chan."
In front of Kusanagi, who changes his expression, Awashima gracefully drinks the delicious Martini, whose anko balls sink thickly.
"What is the 'Red King' thinking?"
After putting down the glass and taking a breath, Awashima said in a low voice.
"Oh, right. Sounds like our boss is giving you a hard time."
"Your 'King' was captured by another 'King', but you look quite relaxed. What are you planning?"
As she says that clearly without changing the expression, Awashima breaks the anko dumplings with the toothpick and mixes them, turning the transparent Martini into a cloudy color.
"Oh, that's not a nice thing to say."
"I don't know why you're calm. I'm sure you're conscious, right?"
"What?"
"Weissman's deviation from the 'Red King' is reaching its limit. You know what will happen if he continues to exceed the limit."
Kusanagi smiled at Awashima, who did not allow him to dodge, and replied.
"You mean Kagutsu crater? It's a disturbing story."
A dozen years ago, Weissmann's deviation from the predecessor "Red King" exceeded the critical value, and the sword of Damocles fell. Called the case of a royal blast, it is a leak of enormous energy possessed by the royal authority, and it causes a large explosion that involves not only the royal authority but also a radius of several tens of kilometers. The predecessor, the "Red King", Kagutsu Genji, who was the head of "Purgatory", obliterated the entire southern region of Kanto, killed about 700,000 people and created a large crater in the belly of the Japanese archipelago.
"That is the power of the 'King'. If he loses control, the terrain of Japan will change a bit like then, are you saying that it is okay for this city to disappear?"
Awashima drinks when she makes a muddy cocktail. Kusanagi muttered as he stared at her white throat.
"That is why he is with you."
He may be a little tired too. Is it some kind of indulgence for her, or is it her honesty that he may be struggling with?
"At least you have someone who can stop him. Maybe he wanted to sleep without worrying about accidentally burning everything around him for a while."
Kusanagi laughed bitterly, thinking about what Suoh feared.
"He hated being patient, in control, and annoying things forever."
Awashima, who was holding the toothpick on her cheek, exhaled through her nose as if she was amazed.
"He is not qualified to be 'King'."
He is not going to argue that. He's sure that's what Suoh thinks more than anyone. Suoh is not suitable to be "King". However, he is an essential champion.
"He would probably have been happier, if he had been born as a lion somewhere in the savannah."
Kusanagi lowered his eyes, imagining a beast running alone, freely in the savannah.
"You are a surprisingly sentimental man. Well, we just do our job."
Awashima put the empty glass and the price of the cocktail on the counter and got off the stool. She tried to leave as she clicked her heels, but stopped midway.
She was looking at the bonsai and the projectors on the edge of the counter and the guitar leaning against the wall.
"One of our members brought that in. He was a guy with a lot of hobbies. Thanks to him, the inside of the store has become strange."
It seems that Awashima immediately realized who Kusanagi was talking about. She made her face look a bit understanding.
"I've never had contact with him. He was a non-combatant. The number 3 of "Homura", the weakest executive, the first member of "Homura" along with Izumo Kusanagi, Suoh Mikoto's friend for a long time. That's all I know. What kind of person was Tatara Totsuka?"
Kusanagi left the counter and lined up next to Awashima. Look at the things Totsuka left behind. Until a few days ago he used to tell him that he shouldn't take anything he liked to the bar and take it to his house, but now he doesn't feel like getting rid of those things anymore.
"A tamer of beasts."
"Beast tamer?"
"Oh. Most of our guys are tough, right? Normally, to bring them together, we use a kind of bond on the team, but there are also many who hate that kind of thing. "Homura" is basically a free spirit principle, even so, the reason I didn't have a problem with "Homura" was because Totsuka was slightly softening our beasts in a loose atmosphere."
Kusanagi remembers seeing the bar with Totsuka. Even in the now quiet bar, when friends gathered and Totsuka was in the middle, they were usually overjoyed.
Totsuka was interested in Yata's skateboard and began practicing skateboard tricks at the bar with a table to one side. At that moment, Totsuka was surrounded by everyone and made everyone laugh. Yata got good at teaching Totsuka how to skateboard, Kusanagi scolded the skateboarders inside and Suoh sat on the counter and looked at everyone in a vague but relaxed way.
"That's why he was a beast tamer... I wonder if the best beast is the 'Red King'."
Awashima's calm eyes gaze at Kusanagi. Kusanagi shrugged slightly.
"Totsuka was... because he befriended a ridiculous beast like Mikoto."
He reached out and played the guitar that Totsuka used to play. A sound that was kind to his ears rang out.
(Can you sing something?)
Anna sometimes asked for a song like that.
Music was also one of Totsuka's hobbies, and Totsuka showed his own songs written and composed for everyone in addition to playing the guitar. "I'll do it thinking about all of 'Homura'!"
The song, which Totsuka laughed a bit shyly at, had a soft sound.
Suoh also listened to the Totsuka song, sitting on the bar and gently looking down.
Perhaps the tone of the guitar and Totsuka's voice probably had the power to put the beast to sleep.
"But the beast tamer is dead."
Awashima said that in a cold voice on purpose.
"If the beast tamer dies, the only thing left is to lock up the beast. That is true."
Turning her back on Kusanagi, Awashima heads for the bar door. The doorbell rang. Awashima stops once with the door open a little and looks at Kusanagi.
"But I wonder if there is a place to plant a bomb with a broken safety device."
Having said that, Awashima did not ask Kusanagi for an answer and left.
Kusanagi laughed a bit at the bar after being alone.
"It's tough, Seri-chan."
He muttered.
++++++++++
"Take an umbrella."
His sister said so and offered him a red umbrella.
"But today is a good day, right?"
He looked up at the blue sky and laughed. But her sister gently held an umbrella in her hand.
"Because you are afraid."
She said that and smiled at him a concerned smile.
When they told him that, he suddenly felt that something was empty, and that something scary was coming from the sky, and he opened his umbrella even though it was not raining.
The umbrella his sister gave him covered the sky and he was relieved to feel protected underneath.
When she saw him, she reached out her slim white hand and touched his cheek.
"Come on, kid."
He thought that.
He was haunted by the feeling of discomfort that he did not understand.
It must have been a lonely dream, but the awakening came with a painful movement.
He went on the train. Yes, remember to go to his parents' house now.
After that call, the boy decided to go directly to his parents' house with Kuro. It seems that the boy took a nap on the train on the way and dreamed.
"What happened? Did you have a nightmare?"
Kuro, stood in front of the boy without sitting on the seat even though the inside of the train was empty, and said that. The boy laughs warmly and shakes his head.
"Yes, something like that. I dreamed that I was with my sister. It was a dream that felt strange, but... a dream is like that."
The boy has an older sister. His sister is his favorite and important to him. He remembered that and dreamed of going to his parents' house.
(When I return home, my real sister will meet me and welcome me. I'm sure of that.)
Even trying to think about it, the boy's frustration and anxiety didn't subside at all.
The automatic, inorganic voice that answered the phone call to his parents' house is still spinning in his ear.
"When I called my parents' house, they told me that currently that number is not in use. What can you think of in this case?"
At the very least, the boy moves his mouth to shape the whirlwind of frustration and anxiety. Kuro didn't reply and silently looked at the boy.
"One, I made a mistake on my parents' number. Two, something happened and they changed the phone number without telling me. Three, I'm lying."
From Kuro's perspective, the boy was originally a suspect. He believes the third possibility is the highest among the three, and a selfish smile comes to mind. However, Kuro has a very calm voice and follows the boy's words.
"If not, four, are your memories flawed?"
The boy was surprised, he opened his eyes and looked at Kuro. Kuro's eyes seemed clear and flat, not the hostile ones he encountered the first time, nor the suspicions he had when he was looking for an alibi.
The boy squeezed his hand on his knee into his fist, trying to regain his feelings.
"I'm Isana Yashiro. It's mediocre, but I have a pretty happy family, and now I'm away from my parents and I go to school, I'm a school student."
He looked at the red umbrella leaning to one side. The umbrella that his sister gave him in his dream. What is his sister doing now? Two years older... Did she go to college to study because she was a very smart person?
Somehow his mind was confused, and the boy seemed far away as if he wanted to shake off.
The train rattled and there were no other passengers. An empty box, where the setting sun was shining faintly, continued to shake regularly.
"Where did Neko go?"
The train enters the tunnel and the inside of the carriage sinks into darkness.

Kusanagi remembers the last call many times.
When the call came, Kusanagi was about to leave the bar and go home with Yata, who helped clean up to the end.
When he closed the bar door and put the key in his pocket, the PDA announced the incoming call. When he took out the PDA while he was thinking about who he would be, at that moment, Totsuka's name appeared.
"Hello, Totsuka."
He answered the phone in a loose voice because it was his friend, Totsuka, but didn't get an answer right away. There was a subtle silence, and when Kusanagi shook his head in a strange way, he heard a painful little voice from the other side of the PDA.
"Kusanagi... san..."
Kusanagi's spine froze due to the weakness of his voice.
"Hey, Totsuka? What happened? Hey!"
The sound of dropping the PDA reached his ears. The impatience increased even more when he heard "Kusa..."
"Kusanagi-san, what happened?"
Yata leaned forward to see Kusanagi's extraordinary appearance.
"Yata, come with me! Totsuka..."
"Eh?"
Kusanagi ran into the parking lot and grabbed the car key. Yata runs through the grass without knowing why.
Meanwhile, Kusanagi continued to call Totsuka. When he pressed the PDA against his ear so that he could pick up any weak voice, he heard Totsuka's voice a little further than before.
"Kusanagi-san… Can you hear me…?"
He was breathing harsh and painful, but it was a calm voice.
"I have been happy."
Kusanagi was horrified by the words he heard.
"I still believe it..."
"Idiot, Totsuka!"
From the other end of the phone, he heard a slightly laughing exhalation and a painful cough.
Kusanagi kept calling Totsuka many times. Totsuka seemed to say something, but he groaned and couldn't quite reach Kusanagi's ears.
When he got into the car in sweat and frustration, he started the engine, he told Totsuka forcefully.
"Wait a bit, let's go there."
"Yes I'm waiting."
Totsuka's answers came to Kusanagi firmly. It was a weak little voice, but it was a tone that didn't lose the character of Totsuka even in that case.
He knew about the places Totsuka used to go for night views. Hirasaka Building. It is a building that even outsiders can climb to the rooftop from an external emergency staircase, and there is also a height from where you can get a panoramic view of Shizume city.
Kusanagi broke the speed limit, ran in front of the Hirasaka building, and climbed the emergency stairs with Yata. When he reached the rooftop, he jumped into his eyes the figure of Totsuka lying on his back without strength and a large clot of red blood underneath.
Kusanagi stood up for a moment, but Yata immediately yelled, "Totsuka-san!", And ran to support Totsuka's body.
Totsuka was still breathing and conscious.
"Totsuka-san! Hey! What happened?!"
Totsuka groaned and opened his eyes to Yata, who screamed in a crying voice, and looked at Yata. He seemed to vomit blood while he waited and his mouth was soaked with blood.
"King... Colorless..."
Totsuka squeezed the words out quietly.
"'King Colorless'…? Totsuka-san, were you attacked by another 'King'?"
"Yes, Yata. Don't force him to speak."
Unable to see it, Kusanagi said that in a murderous voice.
Totsuka, who said that he was waiting, was certainly waiting for Kusanagi and his friends. But at a glance he knew what was happening.
He could feel that the Totsuka flame delivered by Suoh, was about to go out, as he was always by his side as Kusanagi's partner.
Yata seems to be trying to hold the wound and puts his palm around Totsuka soaked with blood on his belly. The coat sucked up most of the blood, which was now coming out with a slight noise.
"It's okay, Totsuka-san. We are calling a doctor right now, you can get rid of this kind of injury right away..."
Yata, desperately trying to cheer him up, had his face close to tears. Totsuka's face, which was supported by Yata's arm, could have looked good. He looked at Yata with a concerned face and managed to lift his weak arm and reach Yata's face.
"I'm going to get rid of that..."
Totsuka touched Yata's cheek to comfort him, but his hand was exhausted and he fell, leaving a trail of blood.
"...I'm sorry."
Somehow, it will be fixed.
It was a Totsuka habit. He always laughed and said it, and his unique optimistic ease made him feel like he could really handle it.
But now the power of that word is gone, with Totsuka's life.
Totsuka opened his eyes and stopped breathing with a worried look.
"Totsuka-san...?"
Yata's hand shook a little.
"Totsuka-san... Hey... Don't be sleeping... Wake up... Hey!"
Many tears welled up in Yata's eyes. Holding Totsuka's cold body, he hugs him and cries.
Kusanagi silently turned his back on Totsuka's body. He walked slowly towards the ancient chamber that Totsuka used to carry, and that it was lying on the concrete of the rooftop. Totsuka's blood was also on the surface of the camera.
Passion did not bother Kusanagi. The sadness, anger and intense emotions that seemed to slow down his thoughts were suppressed and he decided what he should do now.
He grabs his PDA and call the person he had to report to.
On rare occasions, the other party answered with a call.
"Mikoto, I have bad news."
Kusanagi remembers that night many times.
Kusanagi, who had told Awashima about Totsuka that night, silently lowered his gaze.
It was getting dark outside and it was starting to rain. A whispering rain envelops Kusanagi's lonely bar.
Kusanagi walked over to the shelf where the Totsuka relics were placed, placed the palm of his hand on the Totsuka camera at the end, and patted it lightly.
Totsuka, who had many hobbies and changed his interest to various things, had the most enduring hobby, the camera. There are many images of friends that Totsuka left behind. Everyone in the video used to laugh.
They also seemed to be a sign of Totsuka's love and attachment to "Homura". Since Totsuka was always handling the camera, there were few images that showed Totsuka himself.
(Hey, hey, somehow...)
Relive his laughing expression after saying that.
"Just say irresponsible things and go your own way."
He put his hand on the camera in his fist and squeezed it hard.
"Fool."
Kusanagi closed his eyes, muttering resentment against his deceased friend of his.
++++++++++
The boy was standing in the stadium on a downpour night.
He was terribly shocked, but not surprised. He somehow he had felt that way since the phone call to his parents' house failed to connect.
"This is your house?"
"It was here, it should be. I left the station and went straight down the street... here was a house with a little garden..."
What spread out in front of the boy was a large stadium and empty audience seats.
There is no such thing as "Isana Yashiro's mediocre happy house" in memory of him.
Kuro looked at the boy with calm eyes.
"You don't seem like the type of person you think you are."
"…Yes."
He has been raining a lot. The raindrops falling on the stadium lawn made a flapping noise. Both the boy and Kuro were drenched. There is no point in putting an umbrella on now, but the boy slowly opens the red umbrella that he was still hanging in his hand.
An umbrella that his sister told him to carry in his dream, when he was afraid.
But in reality, the boy may not have had an older sister.
No, on the contrary.
"It may not be Isana Yashiro in the first place. I mean, maybe there was no person named Isana Yashiro."
"Oh."
"I felt like something was wrong. When I tried to remember the details, sometimes it didn't work."
He tilted the umbrella to hide his face and spun it like a rusty hand.
He hears Kuro's voice from the other side of the umbrella.
"Who are you?"
"A murderer?"
When he answered that, the words made the boy hurt more than he expected. He stopped the spinning umbrella and squeezed the handle hard.
"I can't say there is absolutely no chance. I can't believe in myself anymore."
From under the umbrella, the boy gave Kuro a weak smile.
"You want to kill me?"
Kuro looked at the boy and was silent for a while.
Eventually, however, he takes up the sword stance and touches the sword's handle.
The boy closes its eyes when he sees it.
He didn't know anything, but the boy no longer thought he was an innocent person. He also thought that if he killed him for something he was guilty of, he should accept it.
Kuro's breathing changed. The boy was ready to give up closing his eyes tighter at the sound of his breathing.
The next moment, he hit the boy.
"The final curtain falls the moment a person enters."
It was a haiku, not a hit.
The boy opens his eyes, surprised.
What Kuro had in his right hand was not the handle of his sword, but the "recorder with the haikus recited by Miwa Ichigen" that he appreciates.
At that moment, he picked up the recorder with a satisfied face.
"What beautiful words."
"Were you listening to me...?"
"Is it a story you can't believe? It's weird, I don't believe you either, long before you can't believe yourself."
The rain hits the umbrella. Kuro, who had no umbrella, was soaked in the rain, but he stood up straight without shrugging his shoulders.
"I believe in only one thing, the words of my late master. Ichigen-sama told me to find out. I have not yet given up. Therefore, I will not close the curtain."
Kuro looked directly at the boy.
"What about you, Shiro?"
For the first time, he called him Shiro.
It was not out of trust or affection, but he showed that he was not an enemy, but that he had reached the position of a neighbor who was seeking the truth together.
Kuro's righteousness gradually permeates the heart of the desperately fleeing boy.
"Don't give up? Yes. That word is correct."
Kuro perhaps thought the boy was praising Miwa's words, and his cheeks flushed like a child. He had a rough nose.
"In any case, I can allow you to repeat this sentence. When you say Ichigen-sama's words, your heart will clear."
As usual, words of revulsion rippled in the boy's mouth. With a smile, the tense thing loosened, and his eyes were about to get wet with water that wasn't rain, and the boy covered his face with the umbrella.
"Rare."
The whispered voice was loose and a little wet.

What I learned from subbing Rockman.EXE, episode 38.
Tumblr media
I know I already talked about this episode, but after re-watching it when subbing it in Spanish, I learned a lot of things.
First of all, I don’t speak Japanese, I translate the English subbed version that translated from the original Japanese, however, since Japanese is a little too complex, the English translation wasn’t very good, so I found myself translating words directly from the the original version. I learned a lot about Japanese culture and speech, so here are a few things I didn’t mention in my review.
Episode Title: Strangely Strong! Cutman Brothers!
 1. In my review I mentioned what a Tsujigiri was when Rockman was portrayed as such at the start of the episode.
Tumblr media
What I didn’t notice before is that I never heard the word “Samurai” in the original dub.
They say “Fuke” which means warrior or somebody who can fight, but since a samurai is also a warrior and or someone trained to fight, it’s pretty much the same word. (It also means dandruff, but I think it depends on how they write it).
Just to be clear, “Tsujigiri” means crossroad killings, a term that was used back in the day when samurais, after receiving a new sword, weapon, or learning a new fighting technique, would wait for somebody to walk by in an lonely area and test the new sword on them, weather it was another warrior/fighter like in this case, or an innocent pedestrian. That is why the Tsujigiri Rockman is waiting for Navis to try out the Aqua Sword.
2. Next is the Space “Steamed Meat Buns” Netto’s friends are angry about. If the name confuses you, this is what they are.
Tumblr media
Also know as Chinese dumplings.
They are called Baozis, they are in fact, steamed buns with meat inside, generally pork. Since they are Chinese, Netto’s friends have to go to “Ku-Chinatown” to get them. “Ku” before the name of a place means that it is a district or area, it’s faster to write Ku-Chinatown instead of just Chinatown district or District of Chinatown like in Spanish.
Another thing, the Japanese have their own name for the Baozis, they call them Nikuman, and that is way shorter than writing Space Steamed meat buns over and over again.
3. Next is the Japanese village Rockman was trapped in.
Tumblr media
Where he fought paper ninjas and samurais.
In my review I said that it was probably Japan during the Edo Period. The edo period was between 1603 and 1868 and it was characterized for being a peaceful time because Japan closed it’s frontiers to other countries, the wars were over, and there was an economic growth. This time also focused in arts and entertainment, leading to the creation of many new arts such as Kamikiri.
Kamikiri is the art of cutting paper figures, which is what the Cutman brothers used to attack Rockman. In reality, the paper figures were requested by an audience, and the artist would then put up a show for them using the paper cutouts, something that requires great skill and creativity.
4. Going back to Netto’s friends, the group is approached by a stranger that leads them to his very own noodle restaurant, which causes a little confusion among them.
Tumblr media
I figured it out when I heard the Chinese man saying something after Yaito complains about the noodles/ramen. Since the subs were wrong, I looked up the word and apparently there was some kind of joke going on. The man said Donburi, and it means “Bowl”, but here is the thing, it is how they call a “rice bowl dish”, and I guess the joke is that they are eating noodles in an oversize bowl meant for rice? This if followed by Dekao saying that he is confused because if he is eating noodles, then why does he taste curry in it? To which Tohru responds that his bowl has some curry rice in it. So what in the world are they eating? I’m not sure what’s going on here, so you can correct me if I’m wrong.
Just a quick note here. The next scene has Enzan leaving a Chinese restaurant and criticizing the soup he just ate, the soup was actually Shark Fin Soup, a popular Chinese dish that is also a symbol of high status, and since Enzan is rich, this makes perfect sense.
5. Finally, the Chopin word the Cutman Brothers say throughout the episode. “Chopin” or “Choki” is the sound effect representing scissors, so it’s like “snip snip” in our culture. Not only is this a funny word the Cutman Brothers say, but it also had another meaning near the end of the episode. After Rockman changes into the Heat Guts Style to fight them, Netto suddenly say that in Rock, Paper, Scissors, Rock beats scissors, however, Japan has it’s own version of that game.
Tumblr media
When Rockman returns the Cutman Brothers’s special attack with his fist, he says Guu, but the subtitles mistakenly say Guda, this is because “Da” is the Japanese equivalent of “is”. In Japan, Rock, paper, scissors is known as Janken, where instead of calling out the names of the objects, they say Guu, Choki, or Paa. Netto made a play on words as Chopin or choki is the word used for Scissors while Guu is the word for Rock. In other words, Rockman was yelling Rock!
And that’s all I learned. I find other cultures to be very interesting and I like sharing what I learn to others. I always learn something new while translating the English subtitles so if you want to now more Japanese things from one or more episodes of Rockman.EXE that confuses you, just leave a comment. You are also free to correct me if I got some something wrong, and if I missed anything important in this episode.

Short MiyuSawa Fic (1/2) Ver 2
“Sawamura!”  Kanemaru shouted.
Giggles and loud laughter were surrounding the flushed second year. As much as his classmates were finding the scenario hilarious, they were also consoling the poor guy and calming him down.
Damn it! This is definitely not okay! Why do I have to be one of those guys! I was paying attention to homeroom damn it!  He recalls the day the mascots were chosen for the school’s festival. Since Sawamura and Furuya were barely paying any attention they were immediately selected by the entire class, they needed another one so why not one more from the baseball team.
The mascots’ main job was to run around school and play a game with random people, helping them win food coupons for their cosplay café.
To make sure they were noticeable, appealing, and cute enough, as it was the café’s theme, Kanemaru, the always serious one with a face that could scare innocent first years was now wearing a girl’s sailor uniform.
He was blushing from ear to ear as he kept trying to pull down his skirt, thinking it was too short and how embarrassing it was for hits manly thighs to be seen by everyone. It was a well done Zettai ryoiki, his classmates had done their best to make him moe.
Kanemaru amidst his inner breakdown mumbling how he’d need to run around the school in such an outfit had one hope.
If those two looks worse than me then I might survive.
He had called Sawamura earlier but the other was still getting ready behind a makeshift dressing room made with curtains the class had borrowed.
“Kanemaru, you done already?” Furuya peeks out of his own dressing room.
“GAH!” He turns his head and sees Furuya’s face, he had makeup on and as expected of an Ikemen, he looked good in it, rather than an Ikemen he had transformed into a beautiful innocent looking lady.
Daaaaaaaaaamn it! Kanemaru curses Ikemen-Furuya.
“Furuya! You’re done!” A voice calls out from inside the dressing room Furuya was in, a female classmate helping him put on the costume.
“Ah… then…” Furuya opened the curtains, revealing the light blue fluffy dress decorated in frills. His costume theme was a princess. He also had long black extensions reaching all the way down his hips.
“OOOOOOHHHH!” A completely different reaction compared to Kanemaru’s reveal.
The giggling and comforting classmates that cornered Kanemaru were right now encircling Furuya-hime with praises and phones, taking pictures of him. Posting about the popular ace’s daily life had become a fun past time for the class.
Kanemaru after looking half-dead for a few seconds, lit up a light bulb in his head.
Sawamura! There’s still Sawamura! There’s no way he’d-
“Oh! Furuya’s so pretty! As expected of an Ikemen!” Sawamura appears pulling the curtain away and walking toward Kanemaru.
His theme was Neko-maid. He was cute.
“OOOOOOOOH!!!!” Another round of cheers with a mix of shock as well.
Brown cat ears and pigtail extensions were placed on each side his head, he already had cat like eyes so the applied makeup was minimum, their classmate that had applied had a very proud and satisfied face.
The maid outfit was black and long, so it didn’t reveal skin unlike Kanemaru’s, long sleeves and a long dress reaching above his ankles covered by a pure white frilly apron held by a nearly tied ribbon from behind. The ribbon also had a cat tail attached to it.
So.. so cute…It totally suits him, was this dude always his cute? His eyes are sparkling and what’s with that sweet smile? Kanemaru thought as he stared at Sawamura.
“But… BWAHAHAHAHHA” Sawamura pointed to Kanemaru. “What’s with that face Kanemaru! Smile! Smile a bit more!” Sawamura just had to be Sawamura.
If only he’d keep his freaking mouth shut! Kanemaru scolded his inner self.
-
“So then…” Sawamura started. “Jan ken pon!”
“NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!” Kanemaru screamed, almost everyone in the hallway jolted.
“Okay! I’ll be going to the first years, Furuya to the second years, and Kanemaru will be inviting the Third years!” The three had decided to use Janken to choose who will be going where.
“I beg you Sawamura!” Kanemaru grabbed Sawamura by the shoulders, eyes nearly in tears. “You’re closer to the Third years! You go! You’re way better suited to do it” he begged.
“No! You agreed with Janken too and lost!” Sawamura shakes off Kanemaru’s hands off of him.
“Then, I’m going to the first years then. Furuya! Don’t forget we have to help with the café after an hour okay?” Sawamura turns to Furuya.
“Mhm” The taller one nods. “Ugh, I’ll definitely need to pick you up…” The shorter one grimaces.
“SAWAMURAAAAAAA!!!!!!” Kanemaru continues to wail but Sawamura had already started jogging away.
“DAMN IT!” Kanemaru curses. “RIGHT! Furuya-“
Furuya was also already walking away.
-
“Let’s see… it’s a 15-minute walk to the nearest store.” Kuramochi was reading through a list of stuff needed to be bought.
“If you run, maybe you can make it in less than that?” Miyuki was next to him.
“That’d mean I’d be going alone!”
“That’s true! Hehe”
The two were declared errand boys by their class. Miyuki was absent minded that made him clumsy and useless, so he was chosen. Kuramochi was there to make sure Miyuki would make it on time and wouldn’t wander around. The two were already getting along well enough to leave the errands to them.
Plus, their class was doing a play and since they were both in the baseball team, they didn’t have time to be practicing in roles with too much lines to memorize. After the errands they’d be wearing either a tree or rock costume or working behind the scenes.
“Ah? Isn’t that Zono?” Miyuki notices. They were in the hallway on their way down the stairs.
“JAN KEN PON!” Zono screams.
“And that’s another lost, sorry Zono-senpai” Kanemaru was doing well after being laughed at a lot by his classmates. He was surprised Maezono hadn’t teased him as much as the others.
Maybe he can relate somehow… Kanemaru kept the thought to himself.
“Here, another candy.” He hands the consolation prize again.
“Damn it.” Zono accepts angrily, he had four tries. “One more!”
“Zono-senpai…”
I’m gonna run out of candy…
“Hey! I want to try to! What would you do if Kanemaru runs out of consolation prizes?” Kuramochi interrupts. “That’s quite the look by the way Kanemaru.”
“Ugh!” Kanemaru jolts realizing quickly whose voice that was.
“Bwaha- must be tough! Well… it’s not like we third years don’t understand.” Miyuki smirks behind Kuramochi.
“Miyuki-senpai! Kuramochi-senpai! Ah... this... uuugh” Kanemaru starts to blush again. “…ugh! Let’s just get this done with! You get a coupon for our class’s café if you win, if not you get candy.”
“Got it!” Kuramochi was first.
“By the way, the coupon is random too.” Kanemaru makes a fist.
“Jan Ken Pon!”
“AHH!” Zono screams.
“Yosh! Wins on the first try!” Kuramochi smirks at Maezono.
“Woah, my first winner.” Kanemaru opens the neck pouch he had been wearing. It had little pieces of folded paper. “Please pick one!”
“Oh! Free pudding with a Neko dance.” Kuramochi reads the one he got. “Neko dance?”
“Pfft” Kanemaru giggles. “That’s… one of the maids will do a little dance for you when serving the pudding!”
“I see…”
“Right, my turn!” Miyuki next. He lost five times.
“So? Sawamura and Furuya are in your class too right? Are they wearing something like that too?” Kuramochi asks, Miyuki flinches.
“Ah, yes… Furuya’s in the second-year classes while Sawamura’s in the first year classes. If you walk around the school, you might be able to see them!”
“Heeeh~” Kuramochi takes a peek at Miyuki’s face. “Let’s get going then.”
“Ah, Kanemaru let me take a picture of you.” Zono asks.
“WHY?!”
-
On the second years classes, a particular duo was attracting attention making the crowd pause or walk slowly when they see them.
“Free omurice with a heart.” Haruichi had already one on the first try against Furuya.
“Congratulations.” Furuya calmly praises. “Then… I’ll go search for the others.” “Ah, Furuya, you can’t just approach people you know… there are visitors and others too.” Haruichi reminds.
“Mhm” The taller one nods.
“Ah there they are!” Kuramochi spots them easily.
“What a sight.” Miyuki acknowledges. “You guys a couple or something?”
“Hm?” Both of their heads turn to the Senpais.
Furuya with his princess themed costume was gorgeous, standing next to him was the adorable Haruichi wearing a striking vampire costume. The costumes were both very formal that made them seem like they were out of fairy tale book, adding in their looks, they made everyone’s head turn.
“Ah Miyuki-senpai, Kuramochi-senpai, hello.” Furuya greets. “What are you doing here?”
“What’s with you, asking like that. Well, we’re errand boys now so we’re on our way to the nearest store.” Kuramochi answers.
“Ah… I thought you were another one of the third years who lost to Kanemaru and wanted to challenge me.”
“Was it Zono? It was Zono wasn’t it?” Miyuki commented. “Well, if it’s allowed, let me try again.”
Kuramochi won a free yakisoba with Neko heart.
Miyuki lost five times.
“You suck at this. What are you even good at besides baseball?”
“Shut up!” Miyuki attacks. “What’s with you always winning anyway?”
-
“AHAHAHAHAHA! It’s my win again!” Sawamura brags. “Okay, here a treat.” The candy was accepted by a shy first year who nods with a blush on his face. “…thank you, Senpai.”
“Ah, me next!”
“I’d like to try too.”
“Can I try again?”
First years and visitors had been lining up and crowding around Sawamura the moment he patrolled around the hallway. The job was perfect for him, a loud voice, his first challenger made him appear approachable in an instant despite being a senpai.
“Is that Sawamura-senpai?” Seto notices.
“It should be, you can tell quickly from the voice.” Yui joins in. The two had run into each other while looking around the festival, it was their free time. They both wore regular uniforms as they only worked behind the scenes.
“He sure is loud anywhere, but I can’t really see him thanks to the crowd.”
“He’s properly surrounded, isn’t he?”
“I wonder if he’ll notice us.”
“If Yuki was here maybe he would, he’s tall and also easy to spot.”
The two were merely watching from the distance. “Ah! It’s Yuki!” Yui notices, Yuki was on the other side of the crowd from the two other first years. From the left, it was him standing, a crowd of visitors and first years with Sawamura in the middle, then Yui and Seto. He was stuck.
“Looks like he’s trying to get here…” Seto notices from his face.
“Well… he must be trying to get back to our classroom…” Which was in the direction behind Yui and Seto.
“He can just go around and-“
“Oh! Young Master’s little brother!” Sawamura finally comes into view as he approached Yuki. “Though he’s bigger than his big brother! AHAHA”
“Ah- Neko Maid?“ Seto starts.
“It suits him.”
“Yeah… it surprisingly suits him.”
“Ah, the crowd is dispersing a bit, I think we can get closer.” Yui starts walking.
“Mhm, you can go ahead. I’ll be right back.”
“Okay, then..” Yui heads to where Yuki and Sawamura where while Seto heads to another classroom.
-
“AHAHA! One more chance! This is the last one!” Sawamura announces after winning against Yuki for two times. “JAN KEN PON!”
“Yosh! It’s my win!” Sawamura cheers. “Just how much do you suck at this?!”
Yuki receives another candy.
“Sawamura-senpai, Yuki wasn’t really asking for another round of Janken though…” Yui reminds again.
“Huh? The prizes are amazing though! Yosh! JAN KEN PON!” Sawamura sudden attack on Yui.
“EH? I’m not ready-“ Yui stutters. “Ah… it’s my win.”
“How amazing Yui-shounen! Okay, you get to try your luck again with this!” He hands over the neck pouch.
“Yes… ah free Katsudon set meal! Is this okay? To give a prize like this?”
Normally, it’d be free pudding? “THAT’S!!! That’s a special prize! There’s only three of those in there! YOSH!” Sawamura and the other two were given three of those in their pouches and whenever someone won it, they had to-
“YOSH! Neko dance time! As much as I’m embarrassed about it! A job is a job!”
And so second year Sawamura Eijun started to twirl with his hands imitating the paw of a cat while singing nyan nyan nyan in the cutest way possible.
After it was done. “THAT WAS MORE EMBARRASSING THAN I THOUGHT!” His face was flushed.
No way I would be able to do that if it was with the Third years. Goodbye my oh so cool Senpai reputation!
“Ah.. thank you for your hard work senpai haha” Yui was an understanding good boy. “Hm?”
Yuki had been staring at the set coupon Yui won. *GROWWWWL*
“Ah, do you want it?” Yui hands it over. “You can have it.” Yui was a very understanding good boy.
-
As the three fooled around there were now a new set of eyes eagerly watching.
Is this why he took over my shift?
The wolf boy had been called out by Seto to see what was going on, luckily Seto had some friends in his class and asked to take over Okumura’s shift for him as a waiter.
Why do I have to see this?
Seto probably wanted for them to get closer.
-
This has nothing to do with baseball. Maybe he’d be more comfortable with me as his catcher if we become close outside of baseball too? Was he not comfortable with me from the start? Was there any implication he didn’t want me to catch for him? Is it because I’m not as Miyuki-senpai?
No, is it because he’s not as comfortable with me compared to how he is with Miyuki-senpai? Is that part of what art he was talking about before? This has nothing to do with baseball. I have work to do and Seto is working for my sake. Was I making him uncomfortable somehow? Wouldn’t it be trouble if he suddenly closes his heart on me in a game? Isn’t that unprofessional? -
After a long and silent debate in his head, he headed back to his classroom.
“Wolf-boy!”
He noticed me…
“That serious face is stuck on you no matter what occasion! No way I couldn’t notice you.” Sawamura walked with high spirits toward the first year. “You also had a weird aura around you earlier…”
“I was thinking about something…” Okumura, with Sawamura now in front of him, was eyeing him from up to down.
“You getting ready for war?” Sawamura commented.
He should really learn to listen.
“Ah, the outfit?” Sawamura looked down to his attire. “HOW IS IT! I’ve been told it looks good on me! Surprisingly!” He did a twirl for the first year with his black long dress fluttering in the air.
What am I supposed to say?
“Ahaha, Sawamura-senpai actually did a twirl. He’s working hard, isn’t he?” Yui praised.
“Ah, it doesn’t look bad.” Okumura added.
“Is that a complement or an insult?” Sawamura points to Okumura. “I don’t know!”
“Refrain from pointing at me, please.”
-
Around the same time Sawamura started talking to Okumura.
“Mhm? Is that…” Kuramochi noticed.
“Mhm?” Miyuki halted.
“You can’t really see him but you can tell just by the voice.”
“Haha! I guess so!” Miyuki snickered. “Let’s have a quick look- Ah!”
“Oy! We don’t have time! We have errands. Did you forget?” Kuramochi stops him.
“Eh? Just a minute or so is fine, right?”
“We wasted too much time with you losing Janken against the others! Don’t tell me you’re planning on losing five time against Sawamura too?” Kuramochi reminded. “Just how much do you want a free pudding?”
“Huh? That’s not what I-“ Miyuki started.
“Errands? That’s not good of you Miyuki-kun, are you that excited to see what cosplay Sawamura is wearing?”
“Hm?!”
“Ryo-san!”
“Yah! Long time no see.” Kominato Ryo greeted, behind him were other alumnus, Yuki Tatsuya, Isashiki Jun, Masuko Toru, and Takigawa Chris. To be continued...

Chapter 32 - Warm
AO3 - here
Fanfiction.net - here
Welcome back for another chapter! It's part 2 for this day in the story. Y'all...the Tododeku slowburn officially starts...now. I hope you like it! Let's go! :D
Linktree to all the things!
End notes for the chapter are under the line.
The Tododeku is a go!! :D And it all starts with the holding of hands. We got a peek into Shouto's life. I feel with a quirk like his and the family he was raised in, temperature would be significant. For him, cold is associated with good and hot with bad. But warm is different and new. And Shouto has no shame in asking to hold Izuku's hand. Hee hee! Basically we're going to get blunt Todoroki and flustered Izuku as the Tododeku evolves in the story because they are adorable.
Also, now Todoroki knows Izuku is Hiro! But he still doesn't know that he wants to be a hero. So there's still a bit of mystery between them. They'll learn more about each other as the story goes.
Fun Facts About Japan:
This is more of an observation than a concrete fact. The students that I worked with were more affectionate with each other than I expected. Hanging off of each other a lot. Sitting on each other. Play fighting. Literal cuddle piles on the floor between classes. Girls in one and boys in another. And of course janken all the time. Even the teachers have more physical contact with the students than teachers in the US. Bopping of heads. Friendly shoving. General good natured teasing. I myself shared many a fist bumps. The other ALTs and I even came up with a Japanese version of one. The one where you go for the fist bump and then say 'jellyfish' while your hand 'swims' away. We did the same but translated. Jellyfish is kurage (海月 , くらげ ) in Japanese. (Not to be confused with karaage ( 唐揚げ , からあげ ) which is Japanese fried chicken.) One girl I did that with enjoyed it so much she would go for a fist bump every time she saw me! XD
That's all for now! Next week, we see Izuku's reaction to this new hand holding situation. ;) Complete with a knowing Mei and a comforting Inko. Until next time! Please report typos or weirdness!

So I came up with Quirks for Killua and Gon in a BNHA Crossover AU I’m making.
Before I talk about the Quirks I came up with, I want to point something out: I am basing these Quirks off of their physical ability, not their Nen. I completely ignored their Nen while coming up with these Quirks, because they learn Nen a while into their canon adventure, while Quirks are something you’re born with. I just don’t think it would match up right.
GON’S QUIRK: Double Sense. He has a heightened sense of smell and hearing. He can pick out a person from a crowd using their scent, up to if the scent is as old as five days, and can hear anything within a 70-foot radius. He has a hard time controlling the extent of this Quirk, however, and can get overwhelmed with too much of one scent or sound.
KILLUA’S QUIRK: Crystallize. He can cover his body in a practically unbreakable crystal substance that can work as an offense or defense. He usually uses this on his fingers to make claws, and on certain parts of his body to make himself more resilient to attacks if he gets hit. He is unable to cover his entire body, however, and if he tries to cover multiple areas at once it drains a lot of energy.
Also in the AU, Killua and Gon both try out for the UA Hero Course, and they get in, but Killua is more focused on becoming a defense Hero while Gon wants to be an offensive Hero. I know this might sound backwards, but Gon loves fighting and has the kind of mindset Katsuki has, but toned down a lot: beat up bad guys and they won’t bother you, and you’ll win, so it’s a fast and effective approach. Killua, on the other hand, knows what its like to be a victim and how safe you feel when a Hero rescues you; he wants to make others feel safe and happy, and knows that rescuing people will make them feel safer.
NOW, ON TO HOW THEIR NEN ABILITIES WORK INTO THE AU
Gon’s Nen ability is Ja-Janken: he can make a really powerful fist to punch through anything, a sword that cuts through anything, and a burst of energy to push anything back. (I’m using ‘anything’ as ‘a lot of stuff but not everything’)
This plays into the BNHA-AU with him using upgrades on his Hero costume; he’s got boosters on his arms that make him punch stronger, his gloves have wolverine-claw-things he can use, and the boosters on his arms (and legs) can also be used to push things back when adjusted correctly.
Killua’s Nen ability is... basically electricity? And Godspeed and stuff, honestly I don’t understand his Nen that well. So, electricity, enhanced speed and stuff, I really don’t know.
This is used in the BNHA-AU as boosters on his Hero costume like Gon’s, mostly really powerful boosters on the soles of his shoes that help him run twice as fast as he’d usually be able to. He also has multiple weapons on his person, the two yo-yos attached to the arms of his costume that work as tasers, and he also has smoke bombs that, if encased in his Crystallize first, can explode into an electric shock because science.

I didn't get any requests for the Alphabet Asks, but I still wanted to write a little something. So here's a reader drabble, with the pairing left up to your imagination, and using the prompt Just Friends
Tumblr media
"You two are cute together," Botan whispers in a quiet sing-song tone. The two of you are sitting near an open window, and you love the feeling of the cool night air on your skin.
"We're not together," you remind your friend for what feels like the thousandth time. Every time the whole group gets together, Botan finds a way to get you alone and tease you about a relationship that you're not even in. That you don't want to be in, you remind yourself.
"Does he know that? He's looking at you now like he just can't help himself." Botan's breathless giggles are contagious, and your own soft laughter joins hers as you lower your cheek to her shoulder. You peek out between your hair at the full room, but no one is looking at you or Botan right now.
You see Kuwabara first, towering over everyone around him. His face is flushed and causing his eyes to shine, and you can even see his curls starting to brush by his temples since the air inside the temple is warm and humid.
Kurama is standing next to him, long red hair held above his neck with what looks like thin vines. He's laughing at something Kuwabara said as his eyes scan the room, and he slightly tips his head in your direction and holds your eyes for a moment before returning to his conversation.
There's loud cheers and dismayed groans coming from your left, and you realize that Botan has started idly playing with your hair as your cheek shifts against her shoulder so that you can see what's causing all the commotion.
Kujou is actually pouting as he looks down at his hand, which is showing a classic scissors sign, and Hiei still has his fisted hand held out in front of him. There's a rare smile on his face, softening his features, and you're still admiring the expression when he looks at you. Hiei raises a brow in challenge, and you slowly shake your head in the negative. You'll let someone else lose to Hiei in the next round of janken.
As you feel Botan starting to lean more weight against you, so that you are now holding each other up, your eyes dart to the other side of the room. You can hear Yusuke laughing as Chu holds a barrel in the air to chug down the liquid inside, and Yusuke is still hooting as your eyes lock. He shoots you a quick wink before tipping the barrel up higher, and your eyes close.
"We're just friends," you think as you rest against your possibly napping friend. "Just friends."

InuYasha RP Bio
Omg. I’m alive! Things have been so hectic, I forgot I had a Tumblr! Silly me. Well, I’ve returned, and with that return, I give you my finalized InuYasha RP bio!
So, I created this character about 18 years ago when InuYasha first aired on Adult Swim. I debuted her on Yahoo!Chat, and when that died, she sort of went into hibernation. With the series coming out, and this sudden surge of InuYasha, I really wanted to finalize her, and get her out into the world. :3
Name (last, first): Setsuna ( Of the Karyukai, The Flower and Willow World )
Nickname(s): Hanyou, Runt, Pup, Geisha
Age: 55 (Youthful appearance, commonly mistaken for 20-25)
Species: Half-Dog Demon, Half-Human (Hanyou)
Gender: Female
Birthday: Around the Winter Solstice
Life Story:
Left on the doorstep of an orphanage in the village of Sawara, in a shabby reed basket during a harsh winter was not the ideal beginning, but, all great legends must start somewhere. Luckily, warm hearts were in good spirits this cold night, and the overseers of this particular orphanage just couldn’t leave a bright eyed, bundle of joy out in the elements. Brought in out of the cold, and raised alongside human children, the pup never really knew she was different, other than having two black fluffy ears atop her head. As she grew, she was given a general education along with the other children, nothing fancy since they were considered the lower class, but enough to get her by should she ever take to selling turnips.
Unfortunately, all fairy tales have to end, and when her 16th year rolled around, she was tossed out into the world to fend for herself.
Being a small Hanyou had its benefits job wise, roaming gangs of thieves were always willing to have her tag along for heists, at a quarter of the profit for most of the dangerous work. But fate is a fickle mistress, and while perusing through a shop during a heist one night, she was detained by an older man named Ino Tadataka, with nun chucks. How embarrassing. She didn’t need superb Demon hearing to know her comrades had bailed, leaving her the scapegoat. However, before she could decide which hand she was okay with having chopped off, the old man offered her a deal. She would assist him in mapping some of the harder to reach places in the area, and in return he would house her, feed her and teach her to read.
Since climbing trees for an old man was a much better option than losing a limb, she hastily agreed, and spent many years assisting “Old Man Ino”, as she called him, in completing his map of Japan.
In the Spring of her last month with Ino, he referred her to an old friend in a village called Kanazawa in the Western Lands for another job. With no other real work leads, other than going back to stealing, she took the lead. When she arrived at the mapped destination Ino had given her, it turned out to be an exotic tea house. She swore on all the Gods above and below that she would knock the taste out of that old pervert’s mouth for this. As she stood outside making her proclamation to bash an old man’s head in, she was interrupted by the tea house’s 'mother', Kikuya. Seeing a rare opportunity to be the only tea house in the district with a Hanyou entertaining, Kikuya took her in instantly.
Amazingly, after several rough years of learning, she was finally “promoted” to the highest rank, Geisha.
Fast forward a few short years, just a few months from fully paying off her debt, she is one of the more popular girls advertised at the tea house. Fully skilled in playing the kokyū, flirting with men in a proper way, starting and losing games of Janken or Daruma Otoshi gracefully, and pouring hot tea in hazardous ways, courtesy of her quick Hanyou reflexes, she has acquired several frequent guests.
A Samurai named Yorimoto quickly became her favorite “customer”, and though they saw each other as nothing more than siblings, she developed a connection to the Human. He was never short on adventurous stories about fighting, and war, which she soaked up like a sponge, enjoying the romantic way he told of their honor code. Being half-Demon, she was naturally drawn to weapons and all their convenient ways of killing things, and eventually convinced Yorimoto to teach her how to use the Naginata. Unfortunately, it was highly un-Geisha like to swing around a “blade on a stick”, as her mother called it, so, under the guise of certain services, they met and trained. Several months passed, and her Samurai was called away to battle, but before he left, Yorimoto gifted her a Naginata all her own, for emergencies, of course.
Even though she was content to stay at her tea house and practice her Naginata in peace until the day when she could afford to open her own business, she also wouldn’t mind a little bit of adventure sneaking in and stirring things up.
Appearance:
Setsuna stands an intimidating five feet tall at her black ear tips, which has earned her the nickname “Runt”. Thanks to her Demon genetics, despite her small stature, she is sturdily built, muscular and has a curvy frame. She is a milky skinned Hanyou with loosely curled raven black hair that trails down to her rear, and cobalt blue, cat like eyes rimmed in coal eyeliner. Her ears are slightly fluffy, and sport two small silver hoops in each, a gift from her Geisha mother, Kikuya. Her claws are a soft pearl color; however, they are kept at a shorter length due to her kokyū playing and aesthetics for the tea house, but they still remain filed to a point and sharp.
Her only truly intimidating feature is a deep, guttural growl that could easily be mistaken for a much larger demon. Setsuna’s normal attire is that of a typical Geisha, minus the white makeup. Elaborate silk kimonos and obis, along with jeweled hair trinkets and pins. Her hair is never tied up, allowing her ears to remain out in the open. When she is training with the Naginata, she dons a black hakama, with a royal blue sash around her waist. Setsuna is almost always barefoot as she likes the feel of Earth on her skin.
Like all Hanyou, she reverts to a mortal Human form on the night of the new moon. She becomes weaker, as she loses all of her Demon abilities. Her hair fades to a dusty blonde color, and her eyes dull to a pale gray.
Personality:
Setsuna is usually the center of the party. Having trained with her Geisha mother, she can strike up conversations easily with almost anyone. She has a laid-back demeanor, seeming to just roll with the punches. A smile of some sort is usually found on her face, giving her an easy to approach look. She has an old wisdom about her, and is always available to offer advice or find an answer to a question. She tends to have a soft spot for animals and children, but she prefers both go home with someone else. Her one true weakness is a field of wild flowers, or flowers of any kind. Though she hates to admit it, she’s a sucker for romance and intimate physical touches.
Unfortunately, with a decent amount of Demon blood in her veins, Setsuna is not the quiet, demure creature one would expect when they see her in full Geisha attire. Having been raised by thieves, her mouth is dirtier than a sewer grate, and her mind has been likened to that of a lecherous old man’s. Even with traditionally excitable genetics, she is calm, collected, and calculating, preferring her enemies to either make fools of themselves or to wander right into her trap. Though she has never been in a true battle, the canine in her usually wishes a mother fucker would so she could let her Naginata bathe in blood. Of course, that doesn’t mean she goes looking for a fight, but should one happen to peek around a corner….
Good Habit(s):
She is very understanding, and a good listener. No problem is too dramatic, or small for her ears. She offers honest advice (This could be good or bad) She is fiercely loyal to those who have earned it. Her colorful background and lifestyle have given her a wealth of wisdom and knowledge, both useful and not.
Bad Habit(s):
Hot headed, she finds a boiling point rather quickly over certain things. Decently excitable, the World is a big adventure to a young Hanyou. Territorial, what’s hers is hers. Cursing bad enough to make perverts blush.
Like(s):
Walking in the forest, feeling the sun on her skin and the Earth on her bare feet. Having her hair done/played with. Food. Training with her Naginata. Playing the kokyū. Listening to stories, mostly battle and war stories. Thunderstorms at night. Wildflower fields.
Special Powers/Abilities:
Aside from the typical Hanyou speed, flexibility and agility, she has a natural ability to hide and camouflage herself due to her small stature. She’s also decently formidable in a fist fight. Intimidating low, guttural growl usually used for intimidation. Rapid healing.
Ambition/Life-long Dream:
Even though she longs for the thrill of battle, a more reasonable ambition would be to finally pay off her debts to Kikuya, and to open her own tea house that specializes in ‘unique’ Geishas like herself.
Love Interest:
Unknown.
Occupation/Job:
Geisha, entertainer, Hanyou
Notes:
Now, I know y'all who follow the series are looking at me like, "Uh...THAT NAME IS FAMILIAR" And, yeah, I know, trust me. I had a moment when the official announcement was made, but when I created Setsuna, I actually used the name from the manga Angel Sanctuary ( showing my age here ), and this character was never meant to follow any sort of canon story line, ever, she was always strictly AU. With all that being said, please don't come for me. xD I am smol and anxiety ridden. I really just wanted to have her bio published, because I love this little shit of a Hanyou. She was one of my very first creations and holds a pretty special place in my cold black heart. A few more notes: I'm totally up for RP! Feel free to send me a note or whatever. I'm pretty laid-back, and open to most scenarios.
I usually ship Setsuna with Sesshomaru, because it's adorable, but, I’m open to any ship.
She has no art. Like I said, this has been a long time coming, so I haven't had any art of her commissioned, but maybe in the near future I will. ( -eyeballs the extremely talented @destinyfall) But, I can give you details and photo references if you decide you would like to RP.

KnB Stageplay Ultimate Blaze Report (5/5, 5/11, 5/19 Livestream)
Okay I know I said I’d do my report after my second viewing on the 11th but then the finale was on the 19th so I thought I’d wait til then so it’d be easier to remember everything. A 3.5 hour play is super long....
So I watched the play live on the 5th and 11th, and the finale on livestream on the 19th. This is the very last Kurosute ever...Thank you Kurosute for 4 years of wonderful casting and performances. I also want to thank Ono Kensho for once again doing an outstanding job of his role as Kuroko.
FYI, for those who also watched the livestream or plan to purchase the delayed stream, sharing pictures/screenshots or clips in public is prohibited. As such, I will not have any pictures included in this report. Please support the franchise by purchasing the DVD or Blu-Ray.
Major spoilers ahead. Proceed if you only wish to be spoiled. Again, this was a 3.5 hour play so this is VERY, VERY, long.
EDIT: This took me two days to type out ORZ
Tumblr media
Before the play starts, Tsuchida’s actor has a voice over on the intercom about stageplay rules and manners. Turn off/mute your phone, no recording, etc. It’s nice that they had him still do his rules even though he wasn’t in the play. ;w;
The play opens up with the Yosen and Seirin scoreboard and Haizaki walking in the audience
Haizaki goes up to a random girl in the audience and flirts with her asking for her phone number.
On the show on the 5th the girl just tried to ignore him lmao
Kagami walks on stage and sees him and calls him out. Haizaki then confronts him saying he beat Mukkun and taunts him until a ball is thrown from the side at him. Kise comes on stage and the whole Haizaki and Kise bickering proceeds.
Haizaki gets REALLY close to Kise like literally breathing down the neck kind of close. How Mario didn’t flinch is beyond me.
Kagami learns that Kise has never beaten Haizaki, and eventually Haizaki leaves. Kise tells Kagami to leave Haizaki up to him.
Kise leaves and Kuroko comes on, using misdirection on Kagami. Kagami asks Kuroko who Haizaki is and that he’s met him. Kuroko explains he’s a former teammate but that he was still a regular so regardless he’s a strong player. Hyuuga and Seirin come telling them off and says they’re going to watch the first quarterfinal match of Kaijou vs Fukuda Sougo.
The opening song for this play’s dance is “Memories.” Personally this is my favorite one so far. I think I have the team order for this correctly...
Opens up with Seirin then switches to Kaijou proceeded by Shuutoku. Then there’s a Kaijou Shuutoku and Haizaki segment.
I just want to say how good Haizaki’s actor is and how his moves were so appropriate as Haizaki....wow
Seirin comes back on for a bit then exits with Aomine and Momoi taking over.
Oh, for the 5th I had Airi (new Momoi) and 11th and 19th were Arisa (original Momoi)
Mukkun does his own dancing segment between Aomine and Momoi
for the 19th finale he danced with a lollipop in his mouth. Isnt’ that dangerous? Lol
Akashi comes out with his jacket on his shoulders to the front of the stage, Then quickly takes it off and runs back. Rakuzan then dances in the front (without Akashi) and Seirin joins back on.
For the instrumental intermission, Kuroko goes to the center and each of the GoM come out and then surround him and do a short dance ending with a dance motion of their signature move/pose.
GoM exit and Kuroko watches Akashi run off  (who went directly back) with a pained face, and Ogiwara runs out all smiley (seriously protect this boy he’s so pure) . Ogiwara runs off to the side and Kuroko chases after him. As Kuroko still looks pained, Kagami comes out on the other side and the two walk towards the center and meet in a fist bump.
The last chorus everyone (except Ogiwara) comes out. (Yes, including Mayuzumi). The song ends with each team forming a group pose (Except Rakuzan, Mayuzumi runs off before they form a pose)
All the other teams run off leaving Seirin left, and the senpais then exit leaving only Kuroko and Kagami to do one last running motion as the display title falls on the back. The two of them fist bump again as the title falls.
The play resumes with the match against Kaijou and Fukuda already starting. There are two other members on Fukuda besides Haizaki (apparently they are Ogiwara and Mayuzumi’s actors in black wigs hahahaha)
As always, the match more or less follows the manga/anime so I’ll leave out most of the story details. Most of it is gameplay anyway.
In this play, they’ve really incorporated more ball handling, aka using the real ball.
Seirin is watching in the back. At some point Aomine and Momoi join in to watch. (I can’t remember if Mukkun joins in to watch here or later...I’m almost certain he joins later)
After the match with Kaijou’s victory, Kise limps off with his injured leg. Then Haizaki walks back on stage, looking for Kise. Aomine sees him and tells him Kise hasn’t come out yet from the stadium. The two have their argument and Haizaki tries to punch Aomine but Aomine beats him too it. Aomine always says some sort of variation of “Oops..I did it....Eh, he’ll be fine”
Scene changes to Kagami calling someone, which is revealed to be Kuroko, saying his shoes broke. Kuroko replies how his feet are unnecessarily big (Kagami: OI!!). Kuroko says he’ll have to call ‘that person.’
‘That person’ is revealed to be Momoi as she runs up and gives Kuroko a tight hug. She tells Kagami that Aomine will give him one of his many shoes and that Kagami’s the type that wears by model rather than care for color.
As Aomine and Kagami are playing basketball in the back (Aomine lecturing him) , Momoi tells Kuroko about Aomine punching Haizaki.
Aomine finishes the quick game and convinces Kagami to accept the shoes.
The scene ends with Kagami and Aomine stupidly arguing and Momoi and Kuroko are literally dragging them off the stage.
For the May 5th show, they just literally drag them off
For the  May 11th and 19th, Kuroko jabs Kagami in the stomach and pushes him off as Momoi pulls Aomine off.
Midorima walks on stage prepared for the semifinals.
His lucky item is a giant shogi piece
The rest of Shuutoku join him and the senpai question why the shogi piece is so big. Miyaji asks Midorima what rank is Cancer that day and he says 2nd and he gets mad. Takao says Midorima is never wrong with Oha Asa but Miyaji asks  for a pineapple from Kimura (off stage) anyway.
Shuutoku is introduced as the first team of the semifinals with Rakuzan following (except Mayuzumi).
Seirin is in the back again and Hyuuga explains how the other Uncrowned Kings are in Rakuzan with Akashi.
The Shuutoku supporters are ‘jacket mob’ actors which are Haizaki and Kaijou
Haizaki’s actor kept dancing around with Mario.....
Ogiwara’s actor is the referee for this match.
Again , more gameplay here. For the actual story read the manga or watch the anime.
For the May 11th show, there were a lot of ball handling errors here.
Otsubo was supposed to pass a ball to Midorima but Nebuya accidentally caught it instead, so he quickly passed it back to Otsubo who passed it to Midorima again.
Midorima ‘shot’ the ball but the ball bounced against a railing and into the audience. It was during the part where he and Takao do the miracle shot. In the script, the senpais pat and hug Midorima and Takao for pulling off the play anyway but for this show they gave Midorima extra hugs and paps for the mistake. How sweet.
One of Reo’s shots also bounced against a railing but it was towards the back so the ball just rolled behind the front fence
Akashi uses a real ball for his Ankle Break. He dribbles the ball around his legs and finishes with the ball going between his legs and catches it. I’ve never seen him mess up nor seen any reports of him doing so.
Mukkun joins Aomine and Momoi in watching the match.
During Hayama’s speed dribble, everyone who is watching ‘shakes’ to the vibration. I don’t know whose idea it was but Mukkun excessively shakes to the point he looks like he’s being electrocuted or something haha. Oh yeah, he’s eating Pocky in this match, real Pocky.
Mayuzumi was out most of the match but occasionally you see him run past between the main fence as he ‘passes’ the ball to Akashi.
When Shuutoku loses, Takao and Midorima are crying real tears. For the finale, everyone was crying...
The scene immediately changes to playing Punky Funky Love and Kaijo senpais practicing. Talk about a mood change. I was still crying over Midorima crying....
It’s a flashback of when Kise joins Kaijou and Kasamatsu explaining how the senpai have worked longer than him.
Just as Kise leaves, Kuroko and Kagami join the stage and they make eye contact with each other.
Of course as usual, before a break there is the Kagami vs Kuroko janken game. Usually involving Kuroko asking for a longer break and him mostly losing. For this break, it was 10 minutes.
May 5th janken- Kuroko tells Kagami that ten minutes is fine, much to Kagami’s surprise. Instead, Kuroko wagers that if he wins, Kagami must treat him to this fancy eel later. Kuroko wins and Onoken posts on Twitter that Yuya did indeed buy him the eel lmao
May 11th janken-Kuroko again tells Kagami that a ten minute break is fine. This time if he wins, he’ll switch to speaking ‘tameguchi’ which is using the casual form of Japanese (like basically everyone else, aka not using ‘desu/masu’). He actually switches to ‘tameguchi’ as he’s talking to Kagami, and Kagami’s trying his best not to laugh. At some point he says it’s annoying haha. Kagami wins so Kuroko’s like ‘well I guess I’m not speaking in ‘tameguchi’
May 19th- it’s their last time to do janken so Kuroko suggests that this time they just play janken for the heck of it. Kagami’s surprised but goes with it. Kuroko wins to his delight, but Kagami being stubborn begs for one more chance. Kuroko allows it, and they have one more match. Kagami wins and Kuroko kneels in defeat.
Other adlibs I’ve heard were Kuroko asking Kagami to buy him boba tea, and the usual longer breaks like 3 hours.
The second chapter opens with one of the ‘jacket mob people’ making sure the audience’s phones are off. The rest of the jacket mobs come out holding various items, such as a camera, cheering horns, towels, and one member has a corndog.......
These are the Shuutoku+Haizaki and Rakuzan actors.
Akashi was the smallest one with the camera on the Rakuzan side. Also he just had Yohchans body structure anyway I mean-no
The corndog guy was on the Shuutoku+Haizaki side, I’m not sure which it was since it was harder to tell who was who (except Takao)
Seirin and Kaijou are introduced and the second semifinal match begins
May 11-Another mistake in this match. Kise jumps to knock a ball out of someone’s hand from Seirin, but the ball hits a railing and bounces back onto the court so Hayakawa quickly picks it up and throws it off stage
May 11- Kise shoots the ball but either doesn’t put enough power into it or shoots in the wrong curtain so the ball ended up going to Kiyoshi who was just coming out from the side.
The jacket mob members act as the ‘fans’ in the stands. Both support Kaijou at first then Rakuzan cheers for Seirin and Shuutoku+Haizaki for Kise.
For Kagami’s line “This is our drama!” Hyuuga and Kuroko had the most outstanding ‘wtf’ faces
When Kagami said it, he puts his hand and fists together. So Izuki repeats him and continuously punches his hand like a bodybuilder.
Hyuuga taunts Kiyoshi with the “Iron Heart” nickname. For the finale he gets everyone in the audience to chant “Iron Heart” with him and Kiyoshi gets mad, “EVEN IF ITS YOU OR THE AUDIENCE I’LL GET MAD AT YOU GUYS!”
When Kaijou loses, Kise cries real tears, every time when he says he wanted to win with everyone.
For the finale, the other members of Kaijou are seen crying too when they lose...
After Kaijou walks off stage with Kise crying, Seirin comment how they made it to the finals and look at the scoreboard which has now changed to Seirin vs Rakuzan.
Kagami walks on stage noticing his necklace is missing. He starts to look for it and Midorima walks on with his giant shogi piece with the necklace. After he gives it back to Kagami, Kuroko walks on with Takao following.
As Kuroko and Takao are talking, Kagami and Midorima are talking (whispering) to each other. Usually it’s about Kagami pointing out Midorima’s shogi piece and for the May 5th show he even tried to take it much to Midorima’s displeasure.
Midorima tells Takao they’re leaving before telling Kagami there’s two Akashi and tells him to ask Kuroko about it.
Here some really dark music plays and I wish they had a soundtrack for this play.....because wow I got chills
Kuroko tells Kagami that he’ll explain what Midorima meant by the ‘two Akashi’s’ by telling everyone about ‘our past’
At this moment, the instrumental for the Teiko ending song, Ambivalence, plays and Ogiwara runs out (Kagami exits and Kuroko moves so he’s behind Ogiwara who’s facing us). Ogiwara then says “Are you alone? I’m Ogiwara Shigehiro! Let’s play basketball together!” and the stage fades into darkness. This marks the end of chapter 2 and a 15 minute break before the last chapter of the play. During the break the instrumental for Ambivalence is still playing so we’re all just preparing ourselves for the feels.
*Note: The Teiko arc is briefly covered in the play, but the actual arc itself is  covered in the Teiko Reading screening which was available to stream online and in select theaters before the play, including scenes with Nijimura and Coach Sanada. The Teiko Reading only goes up to right before the match between Teiko and Meiko. The play covers highlights of the Teiko arc and the Teiko vs Meiko match.  For those who were unable to watch the Teiko Reading, it’ll be included in the Ultimate Blaze DVD/Blu-Ray.
The third chapter opens up with Ogiwara and Kuroko playing basketball together and Ogiwara confessing that he’ll be moving. The two promise to play against each other in junior high school.
Kuroko explains how by second year, he had moved up to the regulars and he and Ogiwara keep in contact with each other.
Each of the GoM come out in their Teiko practice shirts (and colorful shorts....)
Mukkun had red shorts and Kise had neon green.......
For every other GoM member, they had a dramatic DON! when they appeared. For Kise, he had a super *SPARKLE” effect as he did a double peace sign and smiled.  Kuroko comes out last and his is his ‘misdirection’ sound effect that is often used in the play for him.
Oh yeah, Momoi is here too as she watches over them/Aomine.
The Teiko members do some practicing.
Akashi (who is receiving the passes from someone off stage) passes the ball to the rest of the members on stage.
The scene shows how Kuroko and Aomine work well together.
The scene changes and Kuroko narrates how Aomine has started missing practice. They discuss that maybe he had a valid reason and then the stage darkens to just Kuroko who confirms that the reason for Aomine’s absence was that he was ditching. He calls Ogiwara for advice, who said that Aomine is different from Haizaki in which he actually enjoys basketball and the problem is because he likes basketball. He tells Kuroko that since Aomine helped him, Kuroko needs to be there for Aomine.
Aomine comes on in his Teiko jersey, having regained his happiness with Momoi watching. However the other players give up and he in turn gives up playing his hardest. (there’s no players on the stage but  you have the image based on the sound effects). Kuroko walks on smiling for a fistbump but Aomine walks away saying his “The only one who can beat me is me’ line.
Kuroko gets a call from Ogiwara later saying that he lost in the first round, and that their promise will have to wait til next year.
For the finale, Ogiwara was almost crying, or he was crying....save this boy please.
Kuroko and Momoi talk about Aomine, making no progress. And Momoi asks him if they’ll always be together, in which Kuroko is hesitant to answer.
Slowly, the other GOM members (minus Akashi) slowly realize their abilities.
Mukkun with his ability to block, Midorima with his ability to shoot.
Kuroko then finds Aomine by the river, and the whole “I don’t remember how to receive your passes” scene plays out.
Aomine’s face looks so pained here /cries.
Back at the gym, the rest of the GOM are wondering about Coach Sanada’s approval of Aomine ditching practice, and Mukkun wants to ditch too. Akashi tells him that’s not allowed and the Mukkun vs. Akashi match starts with Bokushi awakening.
Akashi’s acting was so good, the contrast between Ore and Boku. And the music for Bokushi’s appearance was spine-chilling....I want the soundtrack for this please....
They use a mix of actual ball-handling and using an ‘air’ ball. Even without the ball you can tell Akashi’s actor is really good at basketball.
Akashi declares as long as they win, no one needs to show up for practice, much to Midorima’s shock.
Kuroko returns and asks Akashi who he is, and Akashi responds, “Of course, I’m Akashi Seijuurou.”
Months pass and the GOM are unbeatable and getting bored in matches, so Kise suggests making it a competition of who can score the most, with even Akashi joining in.
Ogiwara happily tells Kuroko they made it to the finals, but Kuroko is unhappy with the current atmosphere of the club. He asks Akashi to let him start out in the semi-finals, which Akashi permits.
Ogiwara is impressed with how much Kuroko has improved.
Kuroko gets hit in the head by the other team and is taken to the nurse.
Ogiwara talks with Akashi about Kuroko, and asks Akashi if basketball is fun. Akashi responds he doesn’t understand such a question.
Kuroko asks to play but Akashi tells him no under doctor’s orders, and tells him Ogiwara’s message about playing each other agian someday. Kuroko asks Akashi to not hold back against Meiko.
Despite losing 111-109, Ogiwara is fighting back against Teiko, telling his teammates to score one basket and losing proudly.
Ogiwara shoots and misses, and Aomine complains how they gave him the chance and tells Mukkun to shoot it.
Ogiwara, on the ground, looks at them in confusion to why they would score on their own basket.
Kise happily announces how they reached their goal and that they’re all matching, and points to the scoreboard to reveal the score of 111-11.
Kuroko comes out to see a heartbroken Ogiwara, who looks at him before leaving the stage.
Kuroko talks how painful it is, and what is victory. Onoken’s acting here was emotional, as expected from already portraying Kuroko in the anime.
The GOM come out and line up behind Kuroko similar to the panel in the manga.
Kuroko announces his resignation.
Kuroko narrates how Ogiwara has transferred, and Ogiwara comes out on stage saying how the GOM had such cold eyes, but Kuroko can melt that coldness.
Kagami then comes out, and scolds Kuroko along with the rest of Seirin.
Hyuuga gets mad at both of them and sends Izuki and Koganei to drag Kuroko off and give him a tickle attack. Riko follows.
Kiyoshi and Hyuuga comment how it was a sad story and that Kuroko never talks about himself like that, so now they must win.
The next day is the Kaijou vs Shuutoku match for third place and the finals.
Mukkun meets up with Aomine and Momoi, who talk about who would win. They say third place is decided but the finals could be anyone.
Kise is on the bench due to his injury, and Shuutoku easily wins the third place match.
Midorima tells Kise their match is ‘postponed’ for now.
Kise gets annoyed saying, “WELL OF COURSE. IF I WAS IN THERE I’D WIN”
Kise and Midorima continue to bicker.
Kasamatsu and Otsubo just look at each other and let their kouhais fight it out.
Towards the second half of the runs, when Midorima points his finger at Kise, Kise actually bites his finger. No, I mean it. He actually bites it. Midorima gets grossed out by it.
Midorima: EW SO GROSS NANODAYO Kise: I’M NOT GROSS. I’M PRETTY.
^yes, those were actual lines.
Now it’s time for Seirin vs Rakuzan.
Haizaki’s actor is the referee.
For the tip-off, Nebuya gets upset that Kiyoshi isn’t the one jumping.
Seirin declares Mayuzumi not a threat since there’s little information on him, so Aomine asks Momoi about it. This is an adlib scene and varies per show.
May 5- Aomine asks Momoi to get ‘that’ (her notebook) from her bag. Instead she pulls out one of his gravure photobooks. She proceeds to put it back but Aomine hastily takes it away. Momoi asks Mukkun if it’s in his potato chip bag. He looks in it and pulls out..................a chip. Turns out the notebook was in her bag after all, much to Aomine’s annoyance.
May 11- Instead of her notebook, Momoi kept pulling out Mukkun’s empty potato chip bags. Aomine gets mad, but Mukkun only responds, “They were yummy~.” The notebook again was in her bag after all.
May 19- similar to the May 5 adlib.
When Hayama does his dribbling, Mukkun agains shakes vigorously on the side. This time, since he has chips, he sometimes dropped them on stage. So afterwards, you would see him picking them off the ground.
Both Reo and Mayu admit how loudly annoying Hayama is (they were running across stage too )
When Nebuya gets upset that Kiyoshi doesn’t remember what he told him 2 years ago, he literally throws a tantrum on the ground.
Everyone in both Rakuzan and Seirn:.............
When Akashi goes into the Zone, he actually dribbles around everyone with the ball across the stage. Talk about coordination!
Akashi’s shocked face as he’s starting to lose was perfect too. Sorry I have a lot of Akashi notes....
As he’s starting to lose, Akashi starts switching between Oreshi and Bokushi. Oreshi’s voice has like an echo/autotune effect but it’s not a recording or anything.
Thus, the monologue between Oreshi and Bokushi was amazing. The actor constantly switches between both sides very smoothly. Give this guy an Oscar please.
When Oreshi talks about his mother, a ball falls from the sky and he hugs the ball close to him as he mentions it’s what he has left of her.
You can actually visually see the difference between Oreshi and Bokushi in face expression.
As Seirin admits defeat, they’re all collapsed on the ground, even Riko, until Ogiwara comes out and cheers for them.
Aomine shouts out from the side of the stage. In the finale he was even crying.
Kaijou and Shuutoku go in the audience and cheer for Seirin from there.
For the May 11th show I had Kaijou right behind me. Literally -screams
Aomine was crying real tears when he says “So it was you all along, Tetsu...”
For the finale was sobbing more
For the final shot, the stage goes all dark as Kuroko says “I’m a shadow.” Then Kagami comes out from behind and makes the final dunk.
Lantana then begins to play as Kagami declares Seirin the winners of Winter Cup.
In the final performance, Akashi cried as he admits his loss and even when he shook hands with Kuroko.
After Kuroko shakes hands with Akashi, and says that they can play basketball at anytime, Seirin and Rakuzan make a quick bow and run off stage.
Final Scenes
The remaining GOM come out in their uniforms, each with a basketball, and happily dribbling around the stage.
Kise sees Haizaki walking out with his shoes, about to throw them away, but Haizaki hesitates and instead hugs them close to him. He sees Kise was watching him and Kise smiles knowing Haizaki didnt’ really hate basketball after all.
The different teams come out taking a stand in front of the stage and then having a fun match against each other.
Kaijou vs Shuutoku
Seirin vs Rakuzan
The players even go up against other players that we didn’t see during the matches. Everything was so emotional and happy.
The last scene ends with Kuroko and Kagami fistbumping each other and Kagami poses as he’s about to dunk and Kuroko kneels below him fistbumping towards us as all the other players are reaching out towards Kagami.
Curtain Calls
May 5th Aichi Finale - Akashi and Reo
Reo mentions how in high school he was the only one in his group who didn’t read KnB. And now he’s IN KnB.
May 11-Kiyoshi and Koganei
They got Hyuuga to go to the center and do a big “KUROSUTE FIGHT O” cheer with the cast and audience.
May 19th-Kuroko and Kagami
This one was really emotional as it was the final performance ever. Yuya starts crying over his talk over Kagami, and he even deeply bows to Onoken to thank him.
Onoken didn’t cry but he was on the verge of doing so, his voice was shaking.
I lost count of how many curtain calls there were for the finale, but there was a lot.
Highlights
Every show Rakuzan would high-five Akashi as they left the stage
For the finale Mayuzumi even hugged Akashi, and then for another curtain call afterwards all of Rakuzan group-hugged Akashi
Kuroko and Kagami asked if the director was around, apparently he wasn’t so they asked someone to say “Thank you” in his place instead. The cast chose Akashi to say it.
Momoi ran up to Aomine and Kise and walked off together.
On one of the last curtain calls, Aomine and Kise decided to have OnoKen thrown up in the air and got everyone to join in.
Every curtain call ends with Kagami and Kuroko fistbumping each other and leaving. For the very last curtain call, it was all of Seirin together.
Kiyoshi lifts Riko up in the air for a few seconds to celebrate.
And thus concludes my last Kurosute report....please consider buying the DVD or Blu-Ray when it comes out, you won’t regret it.
Once again, thank you for four years Kurosute. Thank you cast members for doing a wonderful job portraying our beloved characters. Thank you Fujimaki-sensei for creating such a beloved series.
