Hey! I made the mistake of scrolling through a pagan subreddit the other day and saw someone claiming that Lilith is Mesopotamian, not Jewish, and is therefore open. I'm Jewish, and not witchy/ pagan so I didn't really know what to say to that, though it seemed incorrect based on a few of your and other Jewwitches' posts. Thoughts?

Short explanation: her name has some shared etymological ties to the name of a sumerian class of spirits with Lilith but that's as deep as it runs. The idea she was some ancient Mesopotamian goddess was dubious at best when it was introduced and has been THOROUGHLY debunked since

I'm Jewish and beginning to get involved in witchcraft, and the deeper I go the more I notice other witches referencing their personal deities and sometimes Greek Gods and such. I was wondering how you reconcile Judaism with the involvement of multiple deities in craft? Or do you perhaps just not participate in that aspect? I'm just trying to get a vibe for how other Jewish witches deal with this. Thank you!!!

I personally don’t do any work with deities as they’re not who I personally worship. Any spells directly relating to a deity outside of Judaism I try to avoid. I 100% support those who do use deities or other Gods, but I don’t feel comfortable using them in my personal craft as they’re not who I currently worship. I usually use God, the universe, my ancestors, or other Jewish figures during the prayer part of my craft.

Then I can answer for @theamericanjewitch here =) I simply answered for the other verse because we had this long thread for it and all.

The two of us headcanon all the time, but we haven’t really talked all that much about the wedding have we? Not in details anyway. However we did talk about how since Tina is jewish their wedding would follow jewish traditions for most parts. Newt wouldn’t mind it at all really and he knows it means a lot to her. I still think Theseus would be his best man because brother. There’s also Jacob of course and he would be very prominent in the wedding, but Newt and Theseus are close so that comes natural. Their honeymoon? Hmmm. Not sure really. Tina hasn’t travelled a lot so Newt would undoubtedly want to take her with him to a place she hasn’t been yet - even on their own journeys.

Being not much of a religious person although definitely spiritual, I didn’t realize until I sat down to eat this that I was a day early for #roshhashana ... Baked apples with honey, sage , onion and cinnamon and potato pancakes and chicken sausage.
