Hi there so I'm gonna be full on blunt. Joy Of Satan is a fucking cult and shouldn't exist full stop. All of those 'facts' you have given are incorrect, I'll breakdown why below: They use the BITE model. They encourage the use of paranoia and isolation as "good things".

Joyofsatan.org (JoS) is ran by people of color. JoS follows non-white Pagan Gods and gay Gods. JoS has a black high priestess, Asian high priest, Hispanic High Priestess, etc. Josafrica.com was created by Shannon Outlaw whom is a black woman and the high priestess of JoS.

The JoS websites have repeatedly stated that people of any race can join them. According to ancient-forums.com which is the official JoS forums, there’s thousands upon thousands of non-white and mixed race JoS members that have their own spaces on the forum.

The Abrahamic religions are anti-Satanic, anti-Pagan, anti-women and anti-gay so why can’t JoS be anti-Abrahamic? JoS supports women’s rights and gay rights. JoS was founded by a woman and worships Pagan Goddesses.

Astaroth, in demonology, is the Great Duke of Hell in the first hierarchy with Beelzebub and Lucifer; he is part of the evil trinity. He is a male figure most likely named after the Near Eastern goddess Astarte. Wikipedia

Amaterasu is the Great shining one of the heavens. Literally the Spiritual personification of the sun itself in the form of a woman and spiritual matriarch of Japan. Astaroth is the Lord Duke of Hell, a fallen angel. One who has been cast out of Heaven. The two characters are as different as fire and water. Further, these kinds of claims not only speak of a gross misunderstanding and absolute ignorance of the nature of the two characters/deities, but it is also in my opinion some of the absolute worst acts of cultural appropriation out there. Wearing a war bonnet to a ball game, pails in comparison. This is nothing more than one of the worst examples of the Pagan community helping themselves to the cultural heritage of others so that they can rebrand and intentionally mislead people. I can't help but wonder why organizations like Jinja Honcho - Association of Shinto Shrines don't sue them? Actions like this are culturally disrespectful in the worst possible way. Amaterasu is Amaterasu, and Asteroth is Asteroth. They are not one and the same.

So there you have it. In my opinion, as much as I hate to use the words, the Joy of Satan community is guilty of Cultural Appropriation and Orientalism.
