I am once again furious at Amsha and Richard Bashir. Not a single remaining picture of Julian from birth till after the Modifications. Julian only has hazy memories and he doesn't even know what he looked like before. Fucked up, man.

One of the funniest things in Star Trek is that baseball has completely vanished from human culture by the 24th century and Sisko is seen as something of a weirdo for being so into it, meanwhile Worf was on his school soccer team and Bashir almost became a tennis pro.

I finished DS9 and here's my first offering to the fandom.
The show is just SO GOOD!! I wanna talk about it so bad, so I will spam the tags quite a bit... My bad. Also, the people who said Bashir would get better - you were right, he became a lot more fun! Plus he's got a teddy bear, that's peak character right there.

BREAKING: Navy Intercepts Deep State Submarines Carrying Kids, Gold & Bioweapons — Military Locks Down Oceans Under Trump’s Orders
As of April 14, 2025, the U.S. Navy has locked down the Atlantic and Pacific in a massive military sting targeting elite-run trafficking, bioweapon transport, and deep-sea blackmail ops. This isn’t routine patrol — this is war.
Trafficking victims. Mobile CIA servers. Gold bars. Bioweapons.
All being extracted from vessels linked to billionaires, ex-agency operatives, and foreign “diplomats.”
These aren’t pirates. These are floating Deep State hideouts — and they’re being wiped off the map.
Trump is back. This operation is under direct military command — not civilian leadership.
GITMO is active. EBS is locked and loaded. Tribunals are not coming — they’ve begun.
On the East Coast, naval strike teams seized ships disguised as luxury liners. Below deck: surgical rooms, soundproof chambers, biometric systems, and unregistered children with no records. DNA matches tie them to CPS abductions across U.S. states.
One server retrieved mapped over 600 trafficking routes since 2012 — running through Italy, the Netherlands, Israel, and U.K. ports. Funded by “charities” tied to Clinton donors. The Epstein network didn’t die — it went mobile. Now it’s caught.
On the West Coast, it's even darker.
A submersible tied to a “research foundation” was captured leaving San Diego — carrying precursor agents for aerosolized behavioral control, encrypted tablets, and night-vision tech meant for offshore “medical” camps.
Crew included former CIA, UN peacekeepers, and a WEF consultant — all under fake identities.
Some vessels carried gold stamped with central bank seals, believed stolen during the 2008 collapse and laundered through IMF fronts. Others had sealed crates of bio-compounds traced back to DARPA and WHO partners.
Nine vessels silenced in 48 hours.
No GPS. No distress calls. Just vanished.
Naval divers are pulling up deep-sea data vaults dumped overboard — containing:
Blackmail dossiers on European leaders
Human trafficking-finance links with Big Pharma
Files on Antarctic underground cities marked for “climate relocation” by elite surnames
This is military justice, not courtroom theater.
No arrests. No media coverage. Just elimination.
No escape. No more oceans to hide behind.
If you're tied to child trafficking, gold laundering, stolen intel, or elite escape ops — you will be hunted. You will be erased.
There are no more safe harbors. The storm is here.

I just read an excellent fic yesterday wherein the author fully invented a whole Romulan novel just for Julian and Garak to talk about. Being as invested as I was, I commented on the fic letting the author know how interested I was in an expansion of their ideas of Romulan history or more details about the fictional novel itself.
This beautiful fucking human being replied to be WITH A WHOLE FUCKING ESSAY DETAILING THE PLOT OF THE NOVEL AND THEIR HEADCANONS ON ROMULAN CULTURE IN REGARDS TO ITS INFLUENCE ON THIS FAKE FUCKING NOVEL!!
Im devastated this novel will never exist! I need it so badly! But also like. Star Trek fans? Nobody is doing it like they are. They’re fucking crazy (affectionate). They’re inventing whole cultures, art forms, books, paintings, people, etc.. They’re creating whole Tolkien-esque worlds for a 4k fanfic about a fucking pretty boy doctor and his gay ass lizard homie.
Comment on fics besties! Comment on fics!! Whole worlds of information are waiting to be infodumped on you if you just make it known you liked their work! Everything is yours IF YOU JUST COMMENT ON FICS 💖💖💖💖

garak 'guessing' julian's fears:
1. normal, boring sex, with no biting
2. cardassian babies unexpectedly climbing him while he can't hold onto them just in case
3. garak's tongue in his ear
4. garak having a medical procedure done but a different doctor getting to do it instead of julian
No. I'm not scared of vanilla sex, Garak. 0/10
This would be frightening for any human. Children of our species don't have the grip strength for that and it's concerning. 3/10
I'm not scared of your tongue in my ear, Garak--I'm disgusted by it. Those are different things. 0/10
... I think you are more scared of this than me, dear. Of course, you requiring a medical procedure frightens me in general, but I'd certainly fear for the whole hospital staff if they should try to convince you that any other doctor should come anywhere near you. 7/10

yknow i dont think ill ever recover from the implications of 'a stitch in time'.
garak sat down in the ruins of his home planet after nearly a decade of exile, finally free of the expectations and threats of punishment or death from all the people he loved. he had his freedom and his home, things he only ever dreamed of having his entire life.
he's there at last, and what does he do? he writes the most stunningly beautiful love letter to a man who seemingly already let him go years prior. you can feel the way he absolutely aches for julian. the yearning is so transparent, so brazen. every person he writes about having had affection for has at least some small resemblance to his dear doctor.
within the letter is every ugly truth, every thing he's ever tried to hide from julian. thoughts and feelings and regrets he's held onto in silence for decades just bleed onto every page, laid bare for the eyes of one man on a distant space station who may decide to not even read it. he will, of course, but a pragmatist like garak isn't about to pretend its not possible. this letter is a plea and a goodbye. it is a continuation of the never ending sacrifice. it is the story of one mans repetitive sacrifice of everything he is for the benefit of others that would knowingly harm him. the one time he refuses to sacrifice his needs, he is brutally punished and cast out to a frigid prison.
this letter was his way of letting go of julian, while still asking him for something. he gave julian everything he ever claimed to want from him. the truth, simple and brutal as it was. told him who he was, why he was. unwavering bravery and vulnerability, a cleansing to wash clean the new man now trying to grow.
all his cards on the table, surrendering everything he'd ever been, with the unspoken but shockingly clear promise of becoming better. 'i am an unfinished man, doctor'. dont give up on me just yet.
julian will either take that invitation, or he wont. either way, garak will finally have the closure, the knowledge he did all he could to fight for the only man that cared about him during the worst years of his life. he will come, or he wont. there is no room for ambiguity, and thus the ball's in bashir's court, as his doctor would probably say.

One aspect of Bashir reading as autistic is the way he goes into shutdown mode when under extreme emotional stress.
The big one is the fight with his parents in Doctor Bashir, I Presume, where he stumbles into the hallway and doesn’t even make it any father than just outside the door before collapsing:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inquisition also features a similar Wall Slide when he’s in a holding cell:
Tumblr media
I also get shutdown vibes from the scene in Tears of the Prophets where he announces that he’s unable to save Jadzia - he’s just folded in on himself, and he mumbles his lines through gritted teeth as if he has to force the words out. And there’s his behaviour in The Sound of Her Voice - withdrawing from other people is pretty basic depression and burnout stuff, but there are moments that feel very autism-flavoured to me, particularly when Kasidy tries to make small talk with him and he gives a clipped, one word response.

something i really really enjoy about garak's character every time i rewatch ds9 is how fucking messy he is. and like, obviously he is an incredibly interesting man who relies on ephemera and subtext to survive, taped together with trauma and his own convictions, but he's also a messy bitch in the real housewives sense as well. he would be so at home on a bravo reunion set with a glass full of wine. his entire storyline in 2x05 is him digging up dirt on dukat just bc he wants to be a huge bitch. character of all time.
