You know, before Jaiden got her wings, I had this headcanon about her and Phil bonding over them being the first bird hybrids (besides quackity) in the island (these are very very not canon but i like imagining cenarios in my head ok)

One time, Jaiden would've been near the wall-Chay and Bobby started playing together, and usually the parents will just start chatting while the kids play. Phil never talked to Jaiden much, but the first thing he noticed were her unclipped wings. Quackity's were already too small for him to fly, so it made sense his were fine, but Jaiden's wings were in perfect shape.

He asks about it. She says that yeah they're fine! Why doesn't she leave the island then? He's never seen her fly. Jaiden answers sort of sheepishly, she can't, she never learnt how to.

Phil is apalled. What do you mean you can't fly? It's like the best thing ever. He tells some stories about what he used to do when his wings weren't clipped, sort of in a sad (and totally not like an old man talking about his golden days) tone, but Jaiden got excited.

She wanted to learn! Phil was aprehensive because, he didn't want her wings to get clipped too. But he missed that feeling, and he wanted Jaiden to feel it too. And she wasn't letting down. So they trained, for a few (minecraft) weeks, it took a bit, but soon enough Jaiden could soar through the island's skies, although she never really got too far from their training spot. It was a little secret, Phil insisted on being more cautious. The next time they saw each other, Jaiden's wings weren't like before. They weren't as clipped as Phil's, but still. She had no clue when it happened, but wasn't too shaken about it (or she hid it well, who knows)

Phil could feel his wings getting clipped. Over and over and over. As soon as they start growing slightly, the next day it was short again.

And then he looks at Jaiden. She can fly again, which is great, she has her wings back! But something feels off... He gets why the federation would clip his wings, or Baghera's. They are anti-federation, but why would they let Jaiden's feathers grow back? They clipped her wings before... Why not now?

And why is she so lenient? Why does she not find it weird?

I was having a decent day, until I remembered a brief, easily-missable side story in one of the first levels of Bioshock 2, where a school teacher and a group of children on a field trip end up trapped in the amusement park level you’re in when the civil war started, and how you hear from her audio logs how she willingly gave up her own food to make sure all the children were well-fed, eventually finding a final audio log on how she realizes she’s dying from starvation but still worries about the kids she’s watching, and you find this audio log by a corpse positioned in a resting pose surrounded by candles and drawings and stuffed animals and I’m sobbing oh god -

how do you separate canon soulmates and fundamentally misunderstand their character writing. god forbid traumatised 16yos arent perfect at understanding each other completely and take time to do so. but in the end finally get it and decide to stay together because they do love each other. (edited because NO. it is romantic. 🩷) they both are messy kids who fuck up constantly. both were wrong and right.

anyway, they’d hate you guys for this, they are canonically the most important person to each other and are both obsessive. 😭

I think my fic where Xander accidentally becomes a successful novelist (largely without realizing it) is the funniest idea I’ve ever had. This guy started writing little stories to remember their adventures in Sunnydale (his last line in Chosen about “how will anyone even know about this unless we tell them” burrowed itself into my little archivist brain and won’t let go) and posts them online. He unintentionally goes viral. He thinks someone named Simon N. Schuster is leaving him voicemails. He ends up on the New York Times bestseller list.

He doesn’t even realize that everyone else thinks the stories are fiction. Xander is out here writing autobiographical non-fiction but everyone else thinks he’s a weirdly dedicated author that’s really committed to maintaining a Lemony Snicket style pseudonym/persona for the narrator of his novel. There are “Who Is Xander Harris?” articles. No one can dig up much of anything on him because he lived his whole life in a town that got wiped off the map. He keeps rejecting requests for interviews because of his stage fright. At first this drives his publicist absolutely ballistic but it just adds the the air of mystery that’s drumming up book sales so she lets it go.

He only responds to questions over email and only ever responds “in character” as his “novel’s narrator” and this baffles everyone, only adding to the supposed mystery. It’s literally not even Xander actually writing the emails 95% of the time. It’s Dawn. She has appointed herself as “Xander’s representation” even though she doesn’t really know what being someone’s representation means. She printed business cards.

i'm stupid so i absolutely did not put together Conrad Schintz as "conscience" until i saw someone in the tag point this out but now that it's in my dumb brain i can't stop thinking about it. Alex's choice to portray Conrad as this softspoken never speaks up but still has to do Something boy who is kind and thoughtful to a fault. pitch perfect character choices!!! but also this tiny quiet boy somehow being pegged by the heads of the city as the BIGGEST DISTRACTION to the big guy's goals and ambitions!! and then his choice of the important article to pay attention to being the culmination of Elias' months and months of research - specifically for the goal of, as Conrad put it, getting it before the "big wigs" could get to it. WHAT is Elias Hodge DOING for Gobstopper Industries??????

I think Sanji would be embarrassed about his fear of the dark because in his eyes it's such a childish thing to be scared of.

That being said, Usopp cheers Kaya up by making up stories of him being brave, while he cheers Sanji up but making up stories of him being terrified of something seemingly harmless

Sanji being scared of the dark is something I adore because I think that after spending so much time locked up in such a dark place with that thing in his head he obviously has nightmares and feels uneasy in dark places. He never, not once, tells the crew. He just sleeps in the kitchen with the excuse that the boys' quarters are a mess and it's awful to sleep next to them (which is also extremely true, by the way).

But consider Usopp and Sanji dating and Usopp obviously wanting to sleep next to him so he asks Sanji to just... Stay with him in his bed. But whenever Usopp wakes up in the middle of the night, Sanji's side of the bed is empty. Usopp just guesses sleeping together isn't his thing? Maybe? But that's just stupid, isn't it? Because Sanji adores these cheesy things and he's always cuddling with Usopp whenever they want to take a nap.

Maybe one day Sanji won't move because he doesn't want to leave Usopp alone and confused, so he fights against his fear. And it is better now that Usopp is holding him, but-- It doesn't fix it completely. Sanji ends up telling him because he doesn't want Usopp to think he doesn't want to sleep next to him, and Usopp says something like "Pfft. Scared of the dark? Really?" / "Don't laugh. You promised you wouldn't-" / "How could I not laugh when that is the most cliché fear of them all? It is basic. I'm even surprised you were embarrassed at all" / "Then you- You don't think I'm childish for-" / "No? Why would you be? To this day I'm still afraid of curtains because I once thought my kitchen curtain was a ghost"

He spends the whole night telling Sanji about his dumb, ridiculous fears until Sanji falls asleep in the kitchen with him. Nobody else knows about this and they pretty much end up sleeping always either there or in the aquarium with a faint night light turned on.

You all know how I like to make botw Link a nerd when it comes to potions and botany but I have now decided that it would also be neat if he was also more interested in mechanics and physics than he seems, like even before the calamity. 

I mean, just imagine, this kid who since the age of four has been naturally great at fighting, the latest in a long line of royal knights, his path only being reinforced when he’s discovered to be the reincarnation of the hero, his duty to the crown being reinforced in his head for years and years, and maybe at first he thinks that he and Zelda would get along due to their similar interests. But she immediately hates him for the sword on his back. 

So every time he escorts her to the royal tech lab, he desperately wants to participate and tinker but he’s just a guard, and all he can do is listen. He loves it when she rambles about what she’s doing and he finds it all fascinating but it’s also been fused to his being that he’s just a soldier meant to gladly die for her and his thoughts don’t really matter. 

Then, when he comes back from the dead, in a room full of mysterious ancient tech, the first thing he’s given is the sheikah slate. And the whole theme of the game is curiosity and discovery and exploration and why should that be limited to just the world? He should be so excited to get the runes and learn how to use them and be baffled by how they defy the laws of physics. He takes pictures and figures out puzzles and has a blast working through problems with the tools he’s given. (also the implied building mechanic in totk... you cannot tell me that he’s not super hyped about making his own car) 

He would think that the champions dlc would be totally worth it when he’s given the master cycle zero, he even gives it the new name of Vah Epona. He powers it with his near infinite supply of apples as if it were a living horse and balances zooming around with teleporting to shrines because that’s just as exciting. 

But in the end he’s still supposed to be the hero, so he can’t stay to talk about tech with Robbie and Purah, he’s happy with waiting for those lectures until Zelda is freed, he has a feeling she’d be interested in it too.
