I hate the idea of 'missed potential' or 'missed opportunities', because 99% of that is hollow made up garbage. My 'potential' is only what I feel like doing and what I want to be doing, there is no 'third hidden potential' that I'm failing to put to use, my only potential is my own prerogative. There's nothing else I should be doing or developing right now or I'm missing out, I know my reality, I know my abilities, I'm choosing to do this, there's zero potential for anything else but my free will to be exercised.

Also most of what is presented as an 'opportunity' today is an opportunity to be exploited. You're not missing out on jobs you could be doing right now, you're doing better using your own time for your own purposes than it being stolen for someone else's. You're not failing to rise to the opportunity if it's something you don't feel like doing, something you don't feel confident or happy doing, or something that scares you - that's not an opportunity! That's literally just something you don't want to be doing. It can miss you and you're better for it.

There's not a wild fantasy world of insane things one could be doing if only they didn't miss opportunities, in reality a person cannot be expected to modify their own free will and jump into someone else's in order to 'not miss out' or 'fulfill potential'. We can fulfill our potential by doing exactly what we feel like, when we feel like it. Also it is insulting to imply someone only has 'potential', because we all have more than that. We're someone already. We're doing something already, just by being. We're a part of society, we're surviving, we're experiencing the world and we're making choices. If you see that and go 'ah missed potential', then you're just creating an in to trick people into thinking that they could be more fulfilled following your will, rather than their own. And no they would not be. We're more than the 'potential' to do someone else's bidding.

The whole Goldric stepbrother's thing makes me so annoyed.

I feel like people really miss the point of a found family when they assign everyone into these stereotypical roles that family is supposed to be: Parents and children, when it can be a lot more nuanced.

I am an enjoyer of Aladarius and I do like Dadrius too, and yes, in some au´s, Edric and Hunter are step-brothers. Just like in some au´s, Luz and Hunter are siblings.

But as enjoyable as the headcanons are, they aren´t canon. Trust me, I love the Noceda siblings as much as the next guys, but a the end of the day, it can´t be used as an excuse as to why you can´t ship Lunter, regardless of how much you may dislike the ship. It could be in an au where only Darius adopts Hunter, and Camila plays no part in it.

The same can be said about Goldric. Alador and Darius didn't canonically get together and Darius didn't canonically adopt Hunter. And even if they had, there is nothing suggesting Alador would have taken any part in adopting Hunter too. It's understandably fun headcanons but it's dumb to shame people for what they enjoy because you personally subscribe to them.

I think people just need to come to terms with the fact that people will enjoy ships that you´ll dislike, and you shouldn´t be scrambling for some moral justification as to why they shouldn´t be allowed to do so. Just leave them be, block the tag if possible, and continue your own fandom experience in peace.

Okay outside of any bullshit i post... My uncle (73 yo), best uncle EVER, is an Arromantic Asexual... All of us in my family, even my GRANDMA (92 yo) accept him and love him as he is. But his "friends" act like he was "sick" or "broken" for not having a wife and kids... Dude my uncle lives confortably the way he is! Just let him nerd out like he is! He is a HUGE intelectual and his books are everything he needs. I love talking to him, he is SUPER smart, and best of it all, he is HAPPY WITH HIS OWN LIFE!!! I hate seeing people bash on precooked or frozen foods all the time. “They’re so processed!! Think of all the chemicals!” Well guess what. Sometimes I just need to eat. Sometimes it takes so much energy just to put shit in the toaster.

“Meal prep then! You’ll have food for a week!” Girl. The amount of effort that takes is too much. Plan, then chop, cook, portion, clean, clean, clean. It’s so overwhelming. And personally, I don’t like eating leftovers for a week. So sue me if I eat frozen food for three days in a row because that’s all the strength I have. I know it’s important to eat “properly and balanced” but there’s so many definitions of that for so many people. Sometimes all that matters is that I have food in my body no matter how it was prepared.

not to be annoying but i do think a lot of people mischaracterize falin. shes got the most drastic canon v fanon thing going on. which i guess makes sense bc 1. we dont see much of her and 2. lot of the fan stuff are anime-onlies that have seen even less

but i think like a good 90% of the time i see falin-centric art or posts im like hrm hrm hrm thats all wrong no nope no-siree

she's just a cool chick that takes life as it comes, doesn't hold grudges even against a mother that apparently was trying to beat the magic outta her, finds her older brother the coolest person in the world, and has autism about observing life (and death, she loves the ghosts she has a connection to) and nature and taking care of things (including taking care of her brother, which is why she's even in the dungeons; she saw her scrawny mess of a brother and decided she had to fix that).

and i think my favorite part that people don't talk about is... she would have done the same for marcille or laios if it were one of them that was eaten. you could see it in her eyes:

it's what shuro misunderstands about her. it's easy to see her feminine, cute, good girl pieces and forget the rest of her. but she loves things to an ends-of-the-earth extent; the kind of caring that makes you a little insane. and that's how I think she and laios end up on the same page with their weirdness. they have different interests, but they are the same level of committed to those interests.

it's easy to love her, because she probably loves you just as much, if not more.

i think a lot of people (especially those who haven’t read the books) are underestimating Hades

yes, he presents as the sassy queer uncle who’s done with his family’s drama, but he’s not “just some guy”

when his Helm is stolen, no one knows about it. he uses his own resources and orchestrates a plan to bring Percy to the underworld alive, all while managing an entire freaking kingdom

he doesn’t threaten war because he doesn’t have to and he knows it. unlike Zeus, he keeps a level head and thinks about the situation logically

think about Percy’s priorities throughout the show, look at what the flashbacks are teaching us about him and his relationship with others. think logically. this is a 12 year old kid who grew up with a single mom and no friends

his priority is his mom, it’s always been his mom and Hades knows that. Percy’s worst fear is losing his mother and Hades uses that against him

he takes Sally before Poseidon claims Percy because he has eyes everywhere. he already knew who Percy was and he already had a plan formed before Percy even set foot in camp

when he greets Percy and Grover he isn’t surprised, relieved, or agitated because he planned this. he knew that Percy would come to him whether by force or by his own choice (for my book readers, think about this in comparison to how Zeus reacts to the situation. Zeus comes off as desperate and angry, whereas Hades is at ease. annoyed, sure, but never panicked)

when he offers them pomegranate juice it’s in the guise of politeness and humour but it has an underlying meaning. Percy knows the stories about Hades and Hades knows that he knows. the pomegranate juice is a reminder, it’s Hades demonstrating his power without outright threatening Percy. it’s him going “I can make something as small as a pomegranate seed into a weapon” it’s him asserting his dominance and control over the situation

he leads them to a seating area clearly made for their arrival. another reminder that he knew they were coming and Sally stands, frozen in the middle of it as a reminder of what they have to lose

when he learns that it’s Kronos behind the robberies he immediately offers sanctuary to Percy, Grover, and his mom. Kronos, the king of titans, the father of all Gods, and a being who could once tear the world in two with the snap of his fingers, wants Percy, and Hades offers to protect him because he’s that powerful

so yes, Hades makes dad jokes and he talks in a way you wouldn’t expect an all-powerful being to talk, but he isn’t “just some guy”

he’s powerful, he knows it, and he shows just enough of that power to absolutely terrify Percy
