#just so frustrated tonight

Every time I see someone say “well the eggs HAVE to die for the lore to progress,” I get frustrated.  Why?  For what?  Part of this Dungeon Master-style storytelling is that sometimes your players will go off the path, and sometimes they’ll straight up break the campaign.  It’s happened to me before.  My DM didn’t retcon our decisions or railroad us into making the choices he needed us to make.  He rewrote the ending.  And it was an amazing ending.

It seems pretty clear that the admin team had no idea just how much of a hit the egg event would be.  These players have all had their own, personal streaming buddy for the past two months to get attached to.  But the story apparently dictates that the eggs have to die, so no matter what the players want, and no matter how hard they try to prevent it, the eggs have to die?  Why?  What is so necessary about dead eggs that the story can’t be reworked to give the players more agency in whether or not a huge chunk of their character, not to mention gameplay gets taken from them?

Farah and Laswell with a Reader with a Headache

Farah: She’d get fussy over you and demand you drink some water immediately. Won’t say too much while handing you a big glass of water, though. You better drink half of it in one go and gradually drink the rest of it sooner rather than later. She makes sure that you will drink the water and refills the glass as well, doesn’t matter how much you complain. She can be stern when she needs to be and this is one of those times. She doesn’t immediately grab some headache meds, though, opting for literally everything else first. Drink some water, go to bed at a reasonable time, take a long nap, just rest up, that sort of stuff. Only when the headache doesn’t seem to be going away will she resort to giving you some meds. Or when it worsens, whichever comes first. However, if it’s just a headache because you haven’t slept well in a while, then she’ll usher you to sleep while she does most of the housework. Will be quiet while she does so, however. She’s a very competent sniper, she knows how to be quiet while doing something.

Laswell: Like Farah, she would not be very pleased with you not drinking much, or any, water. Will give you the nearest bottle of water she can grab, even one with a flavor you like to give you more of an incentive to drink it. Will also make sure that you actually drink it, she’ll stand beside you and watch you down the water bottle, leave and emerge with a new one in hand. Will also use meds as a last resort sort of thing and tries everything else before that. It’s not that she’s against using medication, but using too much of it can lessen its effectiveness, so she’d prefer you take a nap or go to bed to make it go away. If the headache won’t go away or gets worse then, like Farah, she’ll grab the meds and give you some. Will also usher you to bed if you’re not feeling well, she’ll leave you alone for the time being. Cooks dinner for you and her and only calls you when it’s time to eat. Afterwards it’s time for you to go to bed again and sleep the headache off. Laswell can handle herself and the housework in the meantime, but she will be a little more stern with you if you decide to wake up for no good reason. You will be sleeping it off, whether you like it or not.

Not to vent or anything serious but having a dad with Alzheimer’s is seriously devastating and I need to talk about it in a space where no one will say womp womp, because honestly yeah I do the same thing but I’m just so tired.

He’s so… confused. All the time. And it sucks to see. But at the same time he’s so filled with joy and wonder. It’s sad that he acts like a child most times but there are moments where it’s uplifting. It’s little things like him pointing out how many deer there are when we go on a drive, or reading what he sees out loud. He talks lovingly about his wife without realizing he’s talking to her. When I practice my violin he always says “I should get my guitar out and we should start a band”. And it’s fuckinnn hard dude. But I need to remember that these will be my last years with him. He’s also going to suffer a lot in the coming years and that’s a horrific thought for me.

And it is so much harder than just “he’s losing his memory”, like, my dad doesn’t eat much anymore. Like. At all. and we can’t do anything about it. He wears gloves in the house because he’s tarting to develop some pretty bad sensory problems relating to texture and temperature. He fights showers for the same reason.

Sorry for venting and I’ll probably delete this later, I just don’t like talking about it with people irl because they get uncomfortable with my grief, which like, yeah I get that that’s valid. But if I hear another womp womp from some broccoli top white boy with “dark humor” (disturbing lack of empathy) I might just crawl into an oven with some cookie dough

I dunno why when it's radiostatic then I'm either indifferent or sometimes, rarely as it is, even like top!Alastor but when it's radioapple then even a thought about top!Alastor and bottom!Lucifer makes me wanna to gouge my eyes out haha

Samsies, Anon XD When it comes to radiostatic, I don't mind top!Alastor. I've actually like it on a few occasions of Alastor domming Vox. It's delicious. It's exquisite. Very yummy.

I think its the fandom-wide depiction of top!Alastor and bottom!Lucifer that turns me off from that dynamic. With Vox, Alastor gets to be more himself. He's not turned into this super suave alpha male dude (probs because Vox already fits that bill LMAO). Alastor gets to keep his fun and silly characteristics. I've seen more fan art of Alastor in a dress in radiostatic than radioapple, and I would like to thank the radiostatic community for contributing to my health. Thank you for putting my pookie in a dress, he looks amazing and beautiful just like he should.

And Vox gets to be his silly self too. He's still a boyfail. He's a mess. He's suave and charming, but obsessive and goofy at the same time. They match each other's freak.

From what I've seen, radiostatic typically feels closer to their canon counterparts than a lot of radioapple, which might be why I've been so drawn to radiostatic lately.

Their dynamic is so much more complicated and interesting than a lot of radioapple too, which is INSANE because Lucifer is literally the King of Hell, a prideful son of bitch, and an insecure, depressed mess who's been shown to despise Sinners. Alastor is a silly, girlpop, murderous Overlord who's rise to power is a mystery to EVERYONE (that should've been also impossible considering the assumption that he killed the other Overlords), he had an immediate dislike towards Lucifer that was never explained or expanded on, AND he's slowly been driven to (more) insanity because someone owns his soul, and that someone could very well be Lilith, Lucifer's ex-wife. THESE TWO ARE SUCH TASTY, COMPLICATED CHARACTERS AND RADIOAPPLE SHOULD BE THE TASTIEST OF SHIPS.

And yet, they're starting to feel like the oatmeal of ships. Bland and boring.

Don't get me wrong, I DO like radioapple. I do. I promise. I wouldn't be writing radioapple fanfic if I didn't. But it is hard to find enjoyment in the ship when most of what I see turns the characters into tropes and caricatures that strip them of all their tastiest qualities.

good news: i am feeling way better overall, the antibiotics are doing their job & i am way thankful for it. i've also got some appointments to keep up on the og issue & dealing with this has put me on the fast track to getting / keeping insurance!
