jeans to y2k/tripp inspired skirt ݁ ˖ִ ࣪✩₊ ⊹˚
I thrifted some jeans recently, not knowing if they would fit me, but buying it anyway bc 1) it was €1 and 2) if it didn't fit I could surely make something with it.
turns out it was wayyy too small 😂 so I decided it would be perfect to make one of those tripp/y2k skirts with!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
firstly I cut off the legs just above the crotch. I then tried it on, found it was too tight still, and added two strips of leftover fabric on either side. it fits perfectly now!
then I cut the remaining pant legs in even strips and connected them all to make one long strip. I folded ruffles of 5cm along the length, and sewed it in place before I sewed it onto the bottom of the skirt!
and just like that, I have a new skirt 𓆩♡𓆪 I might add some strips with d rings on it once I figure out the placement ^_^ but for now it's done

I forgot to take a before picture(RIP) but my first restoration/remodel!
Got this little wooden box from the thrift shop and it was in bad condition, loose wobbly off center hinges, an ill hitting lid, chipping laquer and scratched to hell.
Used what I had on hand, so it's not perfect, but I think it's pretty!
Sanded her down and sanded down the metal bits with some wd40 and put everything back together. Gave her a light coat of wd40 to make the grain stand out more and to shine it up (more of a light satin type shine) and she's done!!

having Sam and Tara Halloween thoughts
Tara was definitely the type of kid that wanted to dress up as the weirdest most niche thing she was interested in for Halloween and no one knew what she was supposed to be
but I could also see her just wanting to be a random ass object like
Sam: Tara what do you want to be for Halloween?
toddler Tara: a cucumber

Made a design for the unsettlingly cheerful tiger mask girl from juriyuna's event! And named her Kogane Taiga (黄金 たいが), since I had to call her something. 🐅 Her soul gem is on a set of gold grills on her front teeth.
Taiga has a way of putting people off. Maybe the constant leer on her face, the weird smell like old coins that lingers on her jacket, or the fact that she's a little too friendly has something to do with it. Fancies herself a womanizer, but her vibes are so rancid that she's never actually managed to get a date.
Still, there's a kind heart under that seedy exterior. When her father was arrested for embezzlement and she and her mother went from riches to rags overnight, Taiga immediately took to doing whatever she could to scrape up funds to support the two of them-- even if some of these ventures are a bit more... back-alley. She extends the same generosity to her friends in Torayamachi, on call to help her team out rain or shine.

hey punk tumblr community, if i were to make and sell jacket and vest bases (dyeing colors, bleaching or painting designs), diy patches, and diy wallet chains, would there be a market?
ive thought about it before but not reallt seriously and rn i could really use the extra money bc my dads in the hospital and the bill is gonna be pretty bad since he didnt have insurance and is only now signing up for medicaid, and hes self employed.
i have under 1k in my bank account atm (ive been trying to save up to move out of my grandparents basement) so im hoping the extra cash from this could help out some? we'll also probably end up setting up a gofundme but that wont be until after we see the final bill.
basically, is this market here? whats better to sell on, etsy, ebay? i cant use marketplace i dont use facebook. depop? idk ive never done this before.
heres some examples of what i can do (slightly outdated, the spine looks better now but i cant take a new pic bc im sitting in the hospital now)

i could do custom patches too, some simple embroidery, custom back patches if you give me a ref image to work from.
i also could make and sell Creepy Dolls (smth ive done for my haunted house) but i dont think this is the place to ask about that

I already own fast fashion/I can only afford to buy fast fashion, now what?
>Sustain what you buy-sewing, washing, and an attitude that cares about the garment
>Fast fashion can break or wear out easily, you can upcycle the fabric
cut out prints for other projects
use fabric for patches
use fabric to repair other clothes
cut off sleeves/collars/make into crop top
t-shirt bags (an option- but inconvenient to use from personal experience)
other non-clothing crafts
>If you won’t use the clothing item and want to give it away, ask people you know before donating to a thrift store. Thrift stores are already overrun with fast fashion as it is, try not to give them more. But if the only other option is throwing it away, it’s fine to donate it.
>Don't buy excess to what you need. yes you can keep up with trends and accessories but hauls or multiple of an item with the same purpose isn't necessary (ex. more t-shirts than what you can cycle regularly)
>Reduce future fast fashion purchases
If possible consider alternatives such as thrifting, rummage sale shopping, and diy.
Thrift stores and rummage sales support local economics! Your money is going to your neighbors instead of a company.
Rummage sales are preferable to places such as depop, becasue it involves local neighbors who want to get rid of clothes (that will possibly be thrown out otherwise) They can be much cheaper for much higher quality.
>There’s a difference between not being able to afford any other clothes, and buying hauls of fast fashion to wear for a short period of time only to donate immediately or throw away. Influencers who make hundreds of dollars worth of hauls aren’t the type of people who can say “i can’t afford anything else”. hauls aren’t sustainable.
>Don’t feel guilty if you truly can’t afford anything else, but please consider your options and sustain what you already own before buying more.
