#king goomba was created by bowser
Text
King Goomba or King Goomboss is a super sized Goomba that was created by Bowser using the power of the Star Rod in Paper Mario 64, this is the origin of this character. King Goomboss also goes on to appear in Super Mario 64 DS and Mario Kart DS. So I've made several posts about the main and paper world sharing events. King Goomboss' existence is reliant on the events of Paper Mario 64. Meaning because he exists in the Main World the events of Paper Mario 64 must have happened in the main world.

Good evening Factual! (Or whenever you're reading this) I sincerely hope your day is going well! And in regards to my last Ask, thanks for the info and clarification regarding Larry and the General! I especially liked your idea for a more reasonable "exploding shell"!
And staying on the topic of the Koopa Troop- I have a bit of a strange question today- what would you estimate is the rough population of the entire Koopa Kingdom? And how does it compare to the Mushroom Kingdoms population? I'd assume it would be significantly larger- as the Mushroom kingdom consists purely of toads, while Bowsers Domain encompasses dozens of different species- or at least it does in the games.
And so that begs the question- do any other species other than koopas make up your AUs Koopa Kingdom? Obviously we've seen troopas and you've mentioned goombas a few times- but are there significant populations of shy guys? Spikes? Monty Moles? Boos? Piranha plants perhaps? And if there are- any idea how they all came to serve Bowser? Was it out of fear, or respect? And are any of the various "vassels" present in the command structure, like King Bob-bomb, king Womp, or everyone's favorite- Petey Piranha!?
No problem! And well, I'm doing much better today than I was yesterday at least <XD Aside from that I caught a cold. So I'm gonna have fun dealing with that for the next week- 🤣💔
As for the species that populate the koopa kingdom, its actually not what you'd think-
My Shy Guys have no alliance with Bowser. They are a species of.. strange woodland people..? That live in what is currently called "shy guy forest". No one really knows how many of them there are, but everyone considers them to be malicious creatures that you shouldn't associate with.
I'd consider Spikey's to be regarded as animals or pets, as opposed to citizens of the kingdom. Whos to say how many of them there are..
I'd also imagine Monty Moles to be regarded as animals rather than "people". And since Bowser's land is so unhealthy, I imagine that they don't live in Bowser's territory anyways..
The Boos have no alliance with Bowser whatsoever. In fact they reside closer to Peach's land then they do Bowsers. King Boo and his Boos are regarded as a small-ish community of.. faries..? Sprites..? What ever the word may be-- that live out in these big dark woods. They don't serve Bowser and don't interact with him in any way really.. other than taking some of his troops that may stumble into the forest--
Piranha plants are also held in the same value as "animals", rather than people. Though I did consider that they grow mostly in Bowsers land.. Though they probably have to be nursed in healthy soil until they are big enough to eat meat. In which.. Bowser's soil is unhealthy. Hmm.. there might not be a whole lot of them anymore-
King bom-bomb likely doesn't really.. exist..?? Yet?? The bomb-ombs are just living bombs created by Kamek. And King bomb-omb would just be a GIANT bomb-omb. But considering they want Peach's land due to how fertile it is.. they don't have any good reason to create such a weapon..
The Thwomp's are tricky.. There was supposed to be this ancient temple that was made of these HUGE stones with faces carved into them. Kamek brought the stones to life, separating them and making them do his bidding.. I considered that "King Thwomp" was a huge cluster of wall that the bricks couldn't be separated from. Making just.. one giant thwomp. What this means is, there is a limited number of thwomp's. Compared to the rest of the kingdom? Surly they'd only have a handful of thwomp's.. (You can see drawings I made of them here! :0 )
As for Petey, he's not in Bowser's kingdom anymore! :0 He grew so huge he was able to eat his way through the castle and escape. He was so big and powerful, and so fast- that no one could stop him. He scurried off in to the woodlands beyond Bowsers territory.. never to be seen by Bowser again.
That just leaves the Koopa troops and all their variants really.. including dry bones.. when it comes to their population? Its hard to say. I don't have any numbers in mind- but I can compare them to the other kingdoms a bit--
Lets use a 10 scale thing, lets say 10/10 is a completely overflowing kingdom. Way too may people to house and it just not even funny-
Peach's kingdom would be a 6/10. Her land is very healthy and their culture is big on family and generations and what not. So that number is slowly rising..
Daisy's kingdom might be closer to a 4-5/10. Less people but still, their land is healthy and that number is slowly rising.
Then there's Bowsers kingdom. I was thinking that his population is closer to 8/10. This is becuase the Koopa people have been around for many years and have had time to build up that number. I also considered that the Koopa people are a very tough species. So even though their land is unhealthy and doesn't bear much food.. they press on..
You might think that Bowser has Peach beat. I mean, its 6 (weakling toads) vs 8 (tough koopas). But actually Daisy and Peach's kingdom are in alliance. So if Bowser picks on Peach, Daisy will back her up.
So then it becomes an 8 vs 10-11. (tough koopas vs weak toads and sturdy Piantas). And now with the hero's of legend on their side? Beings capable of beating death? Its just a big lose for Bowser..
Wow. Okay I just stopped typing and realized that I kind'a flew off the rails there- I better cut it off here-- none the less I hope the answers to your questions are in that ramble somewhere or you at least enjoyed the read! <XDD

Now this is something I started working on for a while. So here are my fan made partners (and main antagoist) of my conceptual paper mario game:
Paper mario and the craftsmans curse!
Tumblr media
Name: Lewis "hoodie"
Male, he/him
Species: toad (cap has no spots, it's a birth defect)
Personality: can be a bit self-conscious due to being bullied a lot, paranoid, smart, dorky, gets annoyed easily
Backstory: born with no spots on his cap, he was always told that they would come in eventually. Well, they never did, and pretty much every toad around made fun of him for it. Around a year before the game started, he met mario, and they became good friends and have been regularly hanging out since.
Tumblr media
Name: Bloom "bloombaria" (hates her real name)
Female, she/ her
Species: Goomba (chipped tooth was a result of an accident in her childhood)
Personality: shy, wears crown since it boosts her confidence, sweet and a bit of a people pleaser, loves sparkly things,
Backstory: she has looked up to the princesses since she was a goombaling, hence why wearing a crown helps her with her confidence. Broke her tooth when she fell forward and hit her tooth against a rock. Like hoodie, she was made fun of for this as well but had an easier time hiding it.
Tumblr media
Name: sherbert
Male, he/him
Species: Shy guy, has very strong ice powers
Personality: talkative, energetic, socially unaware, secretly very lonely, touch starved, quick-witted
Backstory: Because of his lack of understanding of social queues, he was ostrisied by the other shy guys in the town he grew up in, he set out to find the friendship he desired. Most places he went to tended to give him the could shoulder due to his tendency to freeze things over. This led to him hopping towns frequently.
Tumblr media
Name: you decide (like the yoshi kid in tyd)
Gender also chosen by player
Species: chain-chomp, incredibly small for its species
Personality: goofy little dog
Backstory: bred by a group of bowser's minions to br a serving chain chomp, they failed a "quality check," meaning they were not fit to join the ranks of bowser's army, led to them being abandoned not far from the base they were born in.
Tumblr media
Name: Shrapnell "nell"
Male, he/they
Species: Bob omb (nothing of note just yet)
Personality: severe anger issues, laid back, loves science, inventions, and general technology, can get aggressive
Backstory: Whenever his anger got out of control, he exploded. Thankfully, Bob omb scientists invented a small fuse attachment that prevents the individual from exploding due to emotions alone. This led to them becoming very invested in modern technology and inventions and the ways that it can help people.
Tumblr media
Name: Lavender
Female, she/her
Species: poison blooper, she's lavender sented
Personality: calm, quiet, brooding, isolated, caring, gives good advice
Backstory: As the lone poison blooper in a civilisation of bloopers, she naturally drew to isolation studying the making of potions and antidotes. Thus, she became a well-known alchemist across the mushroom kingdom and the best individual to go to if needing a poison antidote
And now for our villain
Tumblr media
Name: The craftsman, "crafty luigi"
Male, he/him
Species: human, possed, and turned into a wooden doll
Personality: cruel, vengeful, sadistic, aims yo turn the entire mushroom kingdom into wood and fabric.
Backstory: a toad living in an ancient city loved to create art using wood and fabric, but the other toads hated him. When he gave the Prinsess a wooden doll as a birthday present, the king was so offended that the craftsman was locked into a dungeon until he died. That's when he came back as a ghost to torment the people who tormented him. He was cursed to be trapped into a needle for all eternity. Unfortunately, our favourite green man cut himself on this needle, allowing him to be possed and the craftsman to come back for one last chance of vengeance.

I'm trying to create the setup to a real angsty story here and Bowser keeps hijacking my narrative with his hilarious stream of consciousness and complaints about the castle bureaucracy. He's becoming low-key one of my favorite side characters to write (definitely basing his personality on a mix of his Paper Mario/RPG appearances and his 90s cartoon iterations).
~~~~~~
The easy answer to that question was the stringbean. (If Bowser had learned nothing else from their ordeal in Flipside, he at least knew now that Greenie was a hell of a lot tougher than he looked). Bowser tried to mentally run through any news his spies had gathered about the younger brother’s exploits, recall any articles or transmissions received through the completely legal (and, of course, compliant within the technical bounds of the Treaty of the Dunelands, bless the bones of his lawyers) Goomba Radio Network.
Where the hell was Kamek when you needed him? Remembering bits of old trivia was his job. The Koopa King crossed his arms, tapping his clawed foot on the ground. Greenie, Greenie, Greenie…
Wait a minute. Red couldn’t mean -
Oh, this was insane. Even for Red.
“You’re crazy.”
Get ready to jump into the unexpected with Super Mario Bros. Wonder—the next evolution of Mario fun and the first 2D side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. game in more than 10 years! With a new Flower Kingdom to explore and a varied roster of playable characters, Super Mario Bros. Wonder also introduces Wonder Flowers – game-changing items that create surprising effects you have to see to believe.
In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the benevolent Prince Florian invites Mario and his friends to the Flower Kingdom – a not-so-distant land just beyond the Mushroom Kingdom. But Bowser, the King of the Koopas, has other plans. With just a single touch of the mysterious Wonder Flower, Bowser merges with Prince Florian’s castle. Thanks to his newfound power, chaos spreads across the land. Now it’s up to Mario and pals to stop Bowser and save the Flower Kingdom. Here are just a handful of the features and highlights that players can experience on this flower-ful adventure:
A Kingdom Teeming with Variety – The Flower Kingdom is made up of six distinct worlds that circle the Petal Isles, giving you a total of seven areas to explore. Traverse multiple islands, dive into the sea and spelunk through caves. A rich variety of courses await in each world, and you can even walk freely through open areas you find on the world map.
Wondering About Wonder Effects? Expect the Unexpected – Wonder Flowers thrive off this world’s mysterious power and release it when in bloom. When you touch a Wonder Flower in a course, a Wonder effect will trigger, causing dramatic changes. Pipes might start moving, the terrain may tilt, your perspective can change or you might float through space. There are even Wonders that can transform your character into a Goomba or a Spike-Ball.
Charismatic Characters at Your Command – Besides Mario, you can also play as Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Blue Toad or Yellow Toad, and even Toadette. They all play the same, so go with your favorite or mix it up with someone different. Yoshis and Nabbit won’t take damage, so they’re a smart choice if you’re looking for a more easygoing experience.
Plenty of Power-Ups – Super Mario Bros. Wonder features the debut of new power-ups such as the Elephant Fruit, which allows Mario and some of his friends to transform into Elephant form. Throw around your weight—and your nose—as you swing your trunk to attack enemies, destroy blocks and dash across large gaps. The Bubble form allows you to blow floating bubbles that can be used to capture enemies from a distance. The Drill form makes dealing with spiky or hard-headed enemies a breeze. It also allows you to burrow and move through the ground.
Don’t Let Your Enemies Get the Best of You – When it comes to enemies, you’ll encounter new treacherous ones while traipsing through the Flower Kingdom. Hoppycats will copy you and jump when you jump. Melon Piranha Plants spit seeds from their mouths. Condarts will fly at you and stick their beaks into your business. Maw-Maws will eat anything that comes too close to their gaping mouths. There are many new enemies for you to discover.
Equip a Badge to Mix It Up – As your adventure progresses, you’ll be able to earn a variety of different in-game badges, each with its own special ability. In local multiplayer, each group of players will use the same badge. Check out some of the fun options available:
**Enhance your wall-jumping abilities with the Wall-Climb Jump badge.
**Equip the Dolphin Kick badge to unleash an underwater burst of speed.
**Charge up a bounding leap with the Crouching High Jump badge.
**Shoot vines in mid-air and stick to walls with the Grappling Vine badge.
**For a double-edged sword and an additional challenge, become invisible to your enemies (and yourself) with the Invisibility badge.
Multiply the Fun with Local Multiplayer – Up to four people can play locally on the same Nintendo Switch system. If a player is defeated in local cooperative play, their character will float around the course as a ghost. If another player reaches them before time runs out, they’ll jump right back into action, and the group won’t lose any lives. If someone is playing as a Yoshi, you can jump on their back and ride them around the course. Giddy-up!
Jump into Online Play – While playing online, you have the option of creating a room to get together with friends. In a shared room, you can see which courses your friends are playing, play the same one together and even turn most courses into a friendly race. Even when playing solo, if you connect online, you can see other players from around the world in courses and on the world map enjoying the game in real time, appearing as live player shadows. You can come back to life by bumping into a live player shadow here too. Plus, you can assist fellow online players by placing a standee that they can use to revive ghosts. Place them creatively in challenging areas to really help someone out. The game will even display how many people have used your standee assist.
Here we are is the Super Mario Rebirth Show Bowser's army. They're the in the forefront of fighting the Mario Bros when they follow Bowser's plans. We get started on the first list of Bowser's Koopa Empire along with their history.
Koopa- The Koopas are one of the many long running species ever scene the day of the Mushroom World Time. Their first evolution was non other then a "Shellcreepers" to a walking turtle people. Some of them may have not been bad as they were out into their own village while the other Koopa's were at War with The Mushroom Kingdom. They started out in The Koopa Clan under in charge of a younger Bowser. After so many failed misions aganst the Yoshi's, Bowser decied to trun this Clan Around as an Empire, So he makes his own Koopa Kingdom in the Volcano Land aka Darklands. Years later the war continues which was Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach for the first time at the start of "Super Mario Bros 1985 events happen" Thoe the Koopa Troops were jumped onto their heads and used their shells as weapons numerous times. They aint going down without a fight as they were trained for years.
ParaKoopa- The ParaKoopas are the same Koopas but born with Wings. They traditionally come in two varieties: Red Koopa Paratroopas usually fly every where they go as the same goes to Green Koopa Paratroopas ijto The Mario Sibling's general direction. Most of the Para Koopas were under guidance by General Blue Shelled Koopa, who was In Charge of the Koopa Military.
Goomba- The Goombas were the opposite of The Toads. Some of The Goombas who were not on Bowsers side but they are not to bright. While serving the empire, The Goombas were just stomped on like a pancake. Some turned out fine but while other could have died or suffer brain damage. Despite having no arms, Goombas of all types were useful.
Shy Guy- Shy Guys are timid troublemakers and are recognizable by their masks, which they wear due to their shyness. They can be easily disposed by being picked up and thrown against another enemy or into a nearby abyss.
Laktiu- Lakitus are mysterious Koopas who can control clouds. They like to stay airborne because they're weaker than Koopa Troopas. When Bowser and Kamek hires the mystrious Koopa who controls clouds and creat Spiny's. They could also be a quite annoyance to the Mario Siblings but sometimes can be very good use to Go Karts Instructors if some are not helping the Koopa Empire.
Spiny- Spinys are much tougher then Lakitus even though they're merely their pets. Also, they can't be stomped on for obvious reasons due to their spikes on their shells and be used for weapons. They would also be known to be as their guard dogs.
Buzzy Bettle- Buzzy Bettles are the strongest soldiers. Their shells are way more tougher than those of a Koopa Troopa. Also, they're can't be hurt be fire. Unless you jump on them.
Piranha Plants- These Pirahna Plants are carnivores & they inhabit pipes. They tend to pop out of pipes without warning. Any attempt to stomp on them could render as the Pirahna Plant waits for its next meal. These Plants are the attchment to any to Bowsers Empire scene it’s days on Yoshi Island and always will be to this day to bite on its victims.
Boos- Boos are some of the most troublesome. No one reailly knows where they come from but rumors say but they were once in the Darklands in the abandon area of it and some were haunted in mansions. They like to sneak behind the Mario Siblings., trying to kill them but as soon as they turn around, the Boos cover their eyes, turn invisible & doesn't move until turn they turn back around. The one who was in charge of all Boos was "King Boo"
Here is the Wah trio's pokemon team
Wapeach
Iron Valiant- Wapeach was created by Camelot, Camelot is associated with King Arthur and he is known for his knights, a knightly pokemon is Gallade. Wapeach is a character that only exist in the drafts of one man, only brought to life by the internent so she's in a state of existence and non existence kind of like a Paradox and Iron Valiant is a paradox that is associated with Gallade a knightly pokemon
Delcatty- The only other purple cat pokemon is Liepard but Delcatty feels like it fits better
Axew/Haxorus- Based on Wapeach's axe and the fact she is depicted by artist as either a small gremlin or adult gremlin
Muk- Given that she is Peach's rival, I feel like she'd try to compete with her in the field of cooking but sucks
Shroomish/Breloom- personal head cannon, she is or at least was the ruler of the goombas before giving that power to Bowser's father king Rex Koopa
Granbull- In some fan art she is depicted with a chain chomp and Granbull looks likes an imposing pokemon
Waluigi
Carnivine- At some point Waluigi was associated with piranha plants
Excadrill- Its the closest I could think of for Waluigi's signature vehicle in Mario Kart ds the gold Mantis
Roserade- Waluigi signature flower
Gallade- The same reason as Wapeach's Iron Valiant based on Camelot
Electrode- His volitile nature and tennis abilites
Metagross- In smash bros Waluigi is able to bury people so I gave him the pokemon that can also do that
Wario
Revavroom- Obviously based on his car
Miraidon- I normally don't give people legendaries because I'm not a chump but I feel like Wario wouldn't settle for A cylizar for a motorcycle
Conkeldurr- Its a strong pokemon with a goofy look basically how you would describe Wario
Gholdengo- As a treasure hunter Wario would totally go after gimmighouls to get a Gholdengo
Ditto- this is a stretch but its based on Wario reactionary abilities and master of disguise power ups
Bowsers Rise To Power Chapter 3
(of Goombas, Bombs, Drybones, and Koopalings)
From the beginning the goombas had supported Bowser. Goombas had anciently been a part of the Mushroom Kingdom but broke off. They were aggressive little guys that liked the gruffer attitude of the koopas, so they moved there. The heat of the lava fields didn’t bother the hardy little guys. The koopas didn’t mind, even the aristocrats, who thought the goombas were a lower life form, never really antagonized them. That is until food became scarce. Then the goombas had a problem and Bowser was the only one doing anything about it.
********
Some of the ancient magikoopas had created a society of living bombs, living ball and chain, and living bullets. The koopa aristocrats had banished them to an ancient battlefield on the Mushroom Kingdom outskirts. The Mushroom Kingdom allowed them to live there but tended to avoid the place. If you bumped into a Bob-omb in the wrong way, they would literally explode! Bowser needed a little more fire power if he was going to take down the oligarchy. He reached out to King Bob-omb. He told them they were a valuable part of an army he was building. King Bob-omb though that peace was boring. He and his people were literally built for war. So being part of the army was exciting for him and his people.
**********
Months before the official uprising against the koopa aristocrats, Kamek appeared before King Boo. He acquired a necromancy tome from the king of the lingering dead. Bowser had put Kamek up to this. Bowsers following was impressive. But he was worried about those who were loyal to the oligarchy killing off a significant part of his army before he could show off how big his army to Princess Peach. The biggest part of his army was made up of koopas. Bowser held a party for all his koopas troops and told them they were his brethren, how special they were to be born koopas, and how impressed he was at their loyalty to the resistance against the koopa overlords. As a reward Bowser would make sure they would never die! Freedom from death? What a gift! They all cheered and praised Bowser as Kamek cast the spell.
In reality the spell was a curse. Constant hunger, constant thirst, constant dry itching but no skin to itch, constant dry eyes but no eyes to blink. No more sleeping to relieve these feelings. Most who were turned to dry bones resigned to the symptoms of the gift and continued to serve Bowser. Others went into a blind rage and went feral. Others buried themselves in the ground to simulate sleep and would attack anyone who disturbed their ‘sleep’.
Even though they couldn’t truly die, after hearing of the ‘symptoms’ from their fellow koopas, they strived not to end up as dry bones.
*******
With shy guys, goombas, bob-ombs, dry bones, koopas lead by a loyal general, and a magikoopa. Bowser absolutely decimated the aristocrats and their loyal followers. Bowser made a show of not killing the littlest of the aristocratic koopas. He preserved Ignatius, Laurence, and Lemuel Ling; Roderick and Wendelin O’koopa; Ludwig Von Koopa; and Morton High Koopa. How merciful he was to save the children of his enemies!
They could rise up against him in the future, but he wouldn’t let that happen. He would have them raised by the families of the most loyal koopas under him. Bowser ordered for the noble younglings to be indoctrinated. They were to be told that their parents where horrible people who abandoned them, now they could grow up and do whatever they wanted! Remember your parents wouldn’t have let you do this, and it is Bowser who allows you your freedom! They were 4 years old and younger and it would take a while for them to grow useful to Bowsers cause.
-------
Author's notes: Again kind of a Lore dump about the different species that are part of Bowser's army. I also added in the Koopalings because they are fun.
The problem with a Mario Movie. A retrospective, review, and first impressions.
I'm a big Mario fan. No, but really. Most of my life I've been obsessed with the fat italian plumber that speaks in gibberish and saves the princess. As such, there's one constant thing in the series that is clear to any fan.
The story does not matter.
Some Paper Mario fans would like to tell you otherwise, but it's the truth. In a deliberate attempt from series creator Shigeru Miyamoto, the Mario franchise has stuck to its guns tonally. The reason being Miyamoto's idea of the "essence of Mario".
"So for this game, since the fundamental elements of Mario is to express the form to follow the function, it would be best to keep creating unique ideas that would come from this element." - Miyamoto-san, explaining the "Essence of Mario" in a Super Mario Galaxy interview.
The Essence of Mario is form following function. That means, for something to be "Mario"- its function needs to be understood as you look at it.
For example, the series-staple Koopa Troopa. It's a turtle, so when you look at it- it's clear that stomping would cause it to hide or pop-out of its shell. Same with the Toads- since they have a similar shape to the Super Mushroom, you can tell that they're helpful- in contrast to the enemies who are a variety of shapes and creatures.
Tumblr media
This "essence of Mario" is arguably what's kept Mario consistent this entire time. Certain rules as to what is Mario has kept the games from straying too far, like Sonic the Hedgehog. Although, as a caveat, this essence heavily restricts storytelling.
If something Mario must be understood immediately, there's no real room for plot developments or changes in role to any characters. This is why the Peach/Bowser plot is reused so often. You have Peach, the clear goal of the journey- and Bowser, the clear villain. Their designs mimic this: Bowser is more large and menacing than the other enemies, and the princess' design uses bright colors- blonde hair, bright pink dress.
That's not to say the Mario series has never tried to expand its world with stories- the Mario RPGs have tried to do so for more than two decades now. Even still, those games generally have a very simple main plot- and the fun comes from the shenanigans along the way.
So Mario and Story, don't mix all too well. What happens then, if you force Mario to do so? No, I'm not talking about the Super Mario Bros. Super Show or its continuations, and neither will I discuss the Japanese-exclusive "Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach!". These do what the Mario RPGs do, and place Mario in "wacky" unrelated shenanigans. Our next example, does something VERY different.
Super Mario Bros. (1993) - It ain't no game, that's for sure.
Tumblr media
Super Mario Bros. (also known as Super Mario Bros.: The Movie) is a 1993 fantasy adventure film based on Nintendo's Super Mario video game series. The first feature-length live-action film based on a video game, it was directed by the husband-and-wife team of Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel, written by Parker Bennett, Terry Runté, and Ed Solomon, and distributed by Buena Vista Pictures through Hollywood Pictures. It follows brothers Mario (Bob Hoskins) and Luigi (John Leguizamo) in their quest to rescue Princess Daisy (Samantha Mathis) from a dystopic parallel universe ruled by the ruthless King Koopa (Dennis Hopper). - Wikipedia
What the fuck was that description.
I remember watching this movie 7 years ago, and man was it wild. There was this asinine plot that tried to explain the Mario world as an alternate dimension that was created back in whatever million BC when dinosaurs went extinct.
If you've been on the internet long enough, you'd have probably seen screenshots at LEAST. The goomba design is already terrifying, but there's also the humanoid "King Koopa" as this scaly bald dude, a small dinosaur which they call "Yoshi" but bares no other resemblance, and talking fungus. No, not Toads. Literal talking mushrooms- but like telepathically talking mushrooms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This plot is undeniably a mess. I've watched the entire thing and I still can't fathom that it exists.
Why is it bad? It's simple. Because it tries to overcomplicate the Mario series to an extreme extent. It was arguably necessary, of course. I mean, the latest mainline game in the series when this released was Super Mario Land 2. Not really enough of a basis to make a movie out of.
It's just- well, the movie introduces so much, and adds characters and plot points that serve no purpose other than to be "fanservice" (if you could even call it that). If you know the games, you might get a little chuckle from some of the names and faces. The problem is that all this "fanservice" and explaining is a detriment to the plot as a whole.
It's still a story to rescue a princess, but it's Daisy instead of Peach now- and she's a love interest for Luigi instead of Mario. This dynamic could've worked fine, if there was any chemistry between Daisy and Luigi. They meet for like, two scenes and then she's taken away into dystopian fungus-dino world.
Tumblr media
There's a little chemistry between the brothers, but it's mostly in a comedic "eyyy we're from Brooklyn" way. I know I'm asking for emotion from the fucking Super Mario Bros. movie but if you're going to make a blockbuster film, with a big budget and plot and hype it up- that's expected. The Sonic movies, and Detective Pikachu at the least did this. But no, the 1993 Mario movie settles with a clusterfuck of information instead.
You could potentially argue that this movie is good in a cheesy, early 90's kinda way- like Back to the Future or something. I disagree. Back to the Future was never this complicated, nor terrifying. If I wanted to watch a fun late 80's to early 90's film, I'd watch that. If I wanted to watch a Mario movie, I'd probably watch The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach.
Illumination's challenges. and shortcomings.
Tumblr media
Now, Illumination takes the stage. They have big shoes to fill here. First of all, they need to prove that they're not the 1993 movie. No complex plot, and no weird designs. Seems pretty easy at first, but then you gotta ask... what's there to make a story out of?
The Mario franchise has evolved past Mario Land 2, but not much in terms of plot or story. They could perhaps rely on Super Mario Odyssey a bit, but I don't see much that could be done without resorting to the tried-and-true "wacky shenanigans" route.
Furthermore, the reputation of this studio should be considered as well. Illumination is infamous for being cost-effective with their movies first and foremost. Most of their movies are then made very safe and marketable, in order to sell merchandise to children. This is most notoriously stated by their founder and CEO, Chris Meledandri:
As Mr. Meledandri will tell you, his is not a typical animation operation. He wants to prove that strict cost controls and hit animated films are not mutually exclusive, that these pictures do not have to cost $150 million, which is about what Paramount Pictures and its partners spent on “Rango.” They can cost $69 million, the budget for “Despicable Me.”
“Very few management layers, clear decision-making, shortening the length of time you spend developing a movie — it can be done,” he said. Hiring vocal talent with less star power and keeping investment in animation technology to a minimum also keep his costs down. - New York Times
In contrast, this new movie does feature renowned actors like Chris Pratt as Mario, so I guess it's not as cost-effective now.
The idea of this new movie is apparently an origin story. Foreman Spike, who is a character from Wrecking Crew (an NES game in which you play as Mario), is gonna appear- as well as Donkey Kong, and Kamek, who are early Mario characters. It's an interesting idea, and it's been done in the previous movies- but it's more faithful this time, for better or worse
I have just watched the trailer, so these thoughts are gonna be messy buuuut- it seems this movie is going for the "wacky shenanigans" route, maybe??
Tumblr media
It's such an odd first impression. Really short, and only shows some new(?) characters getting destroyed by Bowser and then funny Chris Pratt shows up.
It's apparently an isekai, which was also already tried before. Most of the actors were pretty good, except good-old Chris Pratt- and the visuals look good enough, which is expected from Illumination.
There's not much to say, really. Looks like another Illumination movie, if we're being real. Likely good for kids, not much entertainment in it otherwise. It's a fine start, but not what people probably wanted a Mario movie to be.
The movie isn't out yet, meaning I can't say much more. I just hope it's ironically funny so I could still laugh at it.
Origin Story of the Super Mario Bros
The origin of Super Mario Bros. dates back to the early 1980s when it was created by Nintendo and designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, a renowned video game designer. Super Mario Bros. is one of the most iconic and influential video game franchises in the history of gaming. The original Super Mario Bros. game was released in 1985 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It follows the adventures of two plumbers named Mario and Luigi as they navigate through the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Peach from the villainous Bowser, the King of the Koopas. The game introduced many now-iconic elements, such as power-ups like the Super Mushroom and Fire Flower, the side-scrolling platform gameplay, and memorable characters like Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and the final boss, Bowser. It also introduced the concept of navigating levels and defeating enemies to progress through a series of worlds. Super Mario Bros. was revolutionary for its time, providing tight controls, imaginative level design, and catchy music. It popularized the platforming genre and set a standard for future video games. The game's success led to numerous sequels, spin-offs, and adaptations across various gaming platforms. Since the release of the original game, the Super Mario Bros. franchise has expanded to include various other titles, such as Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, and many more. Mario has become one of the most recognizable and beloved video game characters worldwide, and the franchise has had a significant impact on pop culture.   Read the full article
How do you think Mario and Peach would handle Bowser is his actions got someone permanently dead?
Well, it’s important to realise that Bowser has gotten people permanently killed in the past, both directly and indirectly.
First, a little context around Bowser’s stance on killing!
Bowser isn’t afraid to use violence as a means to an end (in fact, it’s how he deals with most of his problems), but he usually isn’t a fan of killing people outright, not even Mario. This is made pretty clear in Minion Quest: the Search For Bowser, when Captain Goomba and the other Minions realised that Bowser was being possessed by Cackletta because Bowletta told him to “destroy” Mario:
Tumblr media
This is also shown in Paper Mario: the Origami King, where Bowser denounced King Olly’s plan to erase all Toads from the world, saying “The Toads can’t come back from that, you know.”, despite the Toads being his long-time enemies:
Tumblr media
There are exceptions to this anti-killing mindset, however. When Bowser has a lot of power or is extremely angry, he tends to make rash or unthought-out decisions.
This makes a lot of sense, however, as Bowser wants to rule over the universe, not destroy life within it. If he killed the citizens of every kingdom he invaded, he’d have nothing left to rule. This is likely why he transformed those who didn’t join him during his first invasion in Super Mario Bros. into stone, bricks, horsetail plants, etc. - it’s so that they’d still have the chance to be returned to normal later and accept him as their leader.
In Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Bowser wished for Mario and Luigi to “disappear” while he had the power of the Dream Stone:
Tumblr media
In Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Bowser barraged central Mushroom Kingdom and Peach’s Castle with cannonballs (while under the impression Mario, Peach and their friends were inside), seemingly with intent to kill them, after he was enraged by Mario and Luigi defeating Bowser Jr. and had the power of his castle’s new cannon:
Tumblr media
At the beginning of Paper Mario, Bowser almost killed Mario with the power of the Star Rod, sending him falling from high above the Earth:
Tumblr media
Bowser’s negligence has also lead to death in the past. At the end of Super Mario Galaxy, Bowser’s Galaxy Reactor collapsed when Mario removed the Grand Star powering it and turned into a supermassive black hole which proceeded to prematurely end the entire universe, killing everyone within it, including himself. Luckily the Lumas used their collective Power to reset the universe, reviving everyone in the process.
Bowser has likely indirectly caused the deaths of some of his minions. Their devotion to him and his cause leads to them putting themselves at risk. An example of this would likely be the Bob-ombs, who sometimes give up their lives to create a large explosion - as was seen with the Bob-omb who accompanied Mario during Paper Mario: the Origami King.
Bowser has also gladly helped in dealing with villains that plot to take over or destroy the world or universe themselves. Bowser is at least partially responsible for the deaths of Smithy, Fawful, the Dark Star, Dimentio and King Olly, either directly causing or aiding in their demises.
Of course, Mario and Peach can’t exactly condemn Bowser for any of these deaths. Nobody but Mario, Rosalina and the Lumas remember the events of Super Mario Galaxy, and it was technically an accident on Bowser’s part. Bowser isn’t directly responsible for his dedicated minions risking their lives for his cause, as his army is voluntary. As for the other villains Bowser has killed, Mario and Peach can’t condemn Bowser for those either, seeing as they either aided him or would’ve died themselves if he hadn’t helped kill those enemies. It would be hypocritical to punish or ostracise him for doing what he did.
Circling back around to the original question, I think Mario and Peach are generally extremely forgiving to Bowser. They truly want to redeem him, they treat him as a true ally when a greater threat arrives. However, if Bowser began killing innocents (which I think is out of character for him, but for the sake of the scenario) I do think Mario and Peach would condemn him.
They’d stop inviting him to sports events and they’d be a lot less welcoming towards him in general. When Bowser nearly kills Mario, locks up the guests and staff in Peach’s Castle and prevents the wishes of people in the Mushroom Kingdom from being granted in Paper Mario, Peach gets incredibly upset with him:
“I'm in a very bad mood, you monster! You've imprisoned all of the guests from the castle! You are the single greatest disaster to ever befall the Mushroom Kingdom! I'll tell you what: I'll smile when you make everything as it was before you showed up!”
And later:
“I have nothing to say to you.”
I would imagine this is how she’d begin treating him consistently if he killed someone permanently. Mario would follow suit. Hope this answer suffices!
Thanks for the question, this was a fun one!
Listen listen, the second I laid my eyes on your Super Mario AU art and headcannons + your incredibly creative wordbuilding for your AU plus the adorkable ship of Bowser X Luigi, I think I've never fallen back into an old fandom harder than before. I may not be into it as much as in the old days but who the heck can say no to fantastic fanart like this?!
So yeah, now that I got that little geeking out moment, I do have a question in mind.
You've have established so far how the kingdoms and their respective intercations in this AU work and that now the world is living in like a world peace scenario where disputes are solved with sports and events to prevent wars and nothing goes wrong (expect in the sea with the whole pirates situations). You also made it clear which is the main ship in this AU (Bowser X Luigi). That got me thinking: Are interspecies interactions/ even relationships becoming a more common thing ? Like, it's seems obvious since the world is at peace which to me implies traveling and communication with other kingdoms is easily accessible, it doesn't seem that farfetched to me that the inhabitants of differenti places start to mingle with each other, making connections and friendships and maybe even create relationships. Maybe once it was frowned upon but now it's starting to be more acceptable.
Sorry if this might be a stupid or very obvious question to have, but I just like hearing your thoughts on a world you clearly love to build and create. You definitely earned a new follower!! ;) Keep up the good work!
Interspecies interaction is absolutely common place. It has to be to maintain global peace, and it has been made common for a hundred years or so. This "world peace" business isn't necessarily old, but it isn't new either, so by the time the main characters are in the picture, it's seen as a normal thing. As such, no one would really bat an eye if you made friends with a Koopa, or a Goomba, or anything of that sort. The same goes for romantic relationships.
THAT SAID, just because world peace has been achieved it doesn't necessarily mean every kingdom in the entire world is for it. When the World Convention began, it started as a whole bunch of kingdoms coming together and basically going "hey, we're real tired of killing and fighting each other. Wanna be friends instead? :)" A whole bunch of laws, regulations, suggestions, ideas, were passed amongst them before the huge alliance finally settled on an agreement. Thing is, while every kingdom with an official governing body was invited to join, not every kingdom actually accepted the terms.
Some were too stuck in their ways, or maybe at the time had very poor leadership who refused to join the alliance. Anyone who opted out of joining was entirely free to continue business as usual, but were warned that attacks on anyone who did agree to the terms would not be taken lightly.
So there are a few kingdoms in this world that are out and isolated from this alliance by choice. One of the reasons was their refusal to accept interspecies relations and interactions on equal ground.
As a matter of fact, Koopa Kingdom was one of these kingdoms. Particularly when Bowser's grandparents, then parents, were in charge. At the time the Koopa Kingdom was an absolute monarchy so whatever the ruling pair said, went, no matter what the general population wanted, and at that time it was to opt out of the alliance and do their own thing.
Bowser himself is such a popular king because he is the complete opposite of both his parents and grandparents: he reduced the amount of power he holds over the country and gave some of it to the people by forming a council (officials would be elected by popular vote). While Bowser still has overall final say, he can't just go "HAHA I'm king i can do whatever I want" anymore. He also had set to work on many things his predecesors refused, such as: entering the Koopa Kingdom into the World Convention, legalizing interspecies marriage rights, raising minimum wages dramatically, just to name a few.
This got a little bit tangent-y but, I hope that answers your question. :)
Ranking the bosses of Origami King
I have stated many many MANY times that Origami King is my favorite Paper Mario, hell, one of my favorite games of all time. And if some lunatic waltzes into my house and gives me a choice of either liking TTYD or die, I’d rather be dead. But what’s the worst and best boss in the game? Today, we’re gonna rank all the bosses in Origami King. Also, it is recommended that you finish the game to view this post, cause this is a spoiler zone.
17. The Shifty Sticker, Tape
The most annoying and unfun boss to cap off a great tribute to Wind Waker fans, all the positives Tape got was having a bopping as hell music and a really great 1st phase. But that’s where the positives end, cause the 2nd phase is where it all goes downhill. Tape glues parts of the ring meaning you can’t slide panels and some parts of the rings are connected together. And when a lot of tapes are in the ring at once, it’s pretty annoying. And this may just be me, but when there’s too much tape in the arena, Tape straight up gobbles up the tape in the arena to restore HP and it is annoying as fudge. Oh and did I mention that to damage this boss, you’re forced to use the 1000 fold arms? And did I mention that any other form of offense is next to useless? Needless to say, this is one of the worst bosses I’ve had the pain to endure.
16. The Freezing Finisher, Ice Vellumental
The first phase of Snowy The Bear over here is surrounded by an icy forcefield and you must use the Fire Vellumental to melt down his barrier which is, pretty alright for a first phase (I mean your sliding is not locked this time so that’s a plus), but then, there’s Ice Maze to make up for all that fun. For those of you unknowing fools out there, Ice Maze is an ability of this guy where large parts of the arena are covered in ice, and the only way to get through it is find a way to the Action Panel or an active Fire Vellumental Magic Circle without being frozen so you (kinda) won’t have to endure his greatest attack, Ice Age. Problem is, that even for me, who has a strong memory, I can’t seem to solve it. Why this is less dreaded than Tape for me despite the monotony is that you can kinda cheese it without Fire Vellumental. By collecting coins, you can stock on Shiny Fire Flowers and basically fireball this boss to death (and they said coins are useless). Even so fuck this fight man.
15. The Blazing Bird, Fire Vellumental
This phoenix right here is possibly the smartest of the Vellumentals. Why is that, you ask? Easy. He lets you damage yourself. Using his special move, Hot Wings, he basically spreads his own wings (which takes a chunk of his health) and lets you damage yourself until you reach an Action Panel. Once you’re in the Action Panel, use your Iron Boots and jump the shit outta him until his feathers are all/almost gone. Then, use Water Vellumental to shower it to its doom, and lastly, for the coup de grace, pull off his hair and humiliate him in front of a bunch of Toads. The only reason this chicken wing is higher is because jumping him with Iron Boots is as fun, if not more fun than using the Fireballs to cheese the Ice Vellumental.
14. The Apocalyptic Abomination, Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle
By far the most gruesome thing in Paper Mario franchise, it starts off with you hammering the Dry Bone heads it spews out using Kamek’s magic. Then, after enough heads were smashed, Kamek reveals himself and you have to pull him outta the beetle’s nose which is more satisfying than it should be. And then after that, you smash him in the gut 4 times to win. Needless to say, it had its moments.
13. The Elastic Entertainer, Rubber Band
4 numbers later and we are back to the Legion Of Stationary. This time, it’s Rubber Band. While I can see why people like this boss, keep in mind I’m doing all these on a no Game Over run, which makes the boss less fun for me. The Bumper Bands are a mere nuisance, but get caught in Rubber Bind and kiss your health goodbye. Solo Snapback isn’t much better either, for that attack, pray you have a 1 Up left or at the very least can endure that attack or say goodbye to your health. However, despite doing this on a no Game Over run is hell, why is it this high though? you may ask, well, simply put, the Rubber Bands are better projectiles than the Hot Wings, Icicles, and Tape combined.
12. The Chaotic Cactus, Mega Paper Macho Pokey
Tower Power Pokey is back, but this time, he’s made some changes to the battlefield. Now, instead of fighting in some egyptian temple, you fight him inside of a tornado. This segmented spiky monstrosity has 3 attacks. Creating tornadoes, stalking you from underground, and trying to squash you with its body. This time, to defeat him, instead of using some Baseball Bat sticker bullshit, you must wait until his glow fades and approach him with the Boot Car so you can deliver the smackdown. And, pro tip : if I were you, I wouldn’t get caught in the twisters.
11. The Groundshaking Gut-Slammer, Earth Vellumental
God to all Koopas, the Earth Vellumental is pretty fun for a tutorial boss. You use your hammers to smash its limbs till eventually you hit its tender tail, and it’s more fun than it had any right to be. Once the tail is pounded to perfection, flip it with your 1000 fold arms and smack the living daylights out of it.
10. The Trial Of Toughness, Scuffle Island Boss Rush
An optional boss accessible in Chapter 4, the Scuffle Island Boss Rush is fun for a miniboss rush. You get 7 tough Paper Macho opponents ; Goomba, Shy Guy, Koopa, Boo, Paratroopa, Stone Spike, and Buzzy Beetle, each bearing 2 more hitpoints than the ordinary Paper Macho enemies and having a large attack boost. It’s a test of learning the patterns of the Paper Machos and is way more fun than it has any right to be. Although the Paratroopa did gave me some troubles, like, seriously, if you beat this guy’s 1st phase without a guide, you’re a pro.
9. The Stormy Guardian, Boss Sumo Bro
A clever reference to NSMBU and Super Mario World, Boss Sumo Bro stands on his mighty thundercloud at first, until you take out his goonies. Then, once you’re done with his goons, he’ll charge up his unblockable Mega Thunder attack and to stop it, you must use the Fire Vellumental to take him down. It’s admittedly pretty fun.
8. The Missile Maestro, Colored Pencils
One of the most fun tutorial bosses, Colored Pencils has a simple but really fun 1st phase. You have to close its lid to pull off a Fire Vellumental, and on the 2nd phase, it gets better. You have to use his Rainbow Roll against him and smack the living daylights out of him. It’s a great boss, buut problem is, it’s a tutorial boss. It had not much of a chance to make it to the top 5.
7. The Final Destination, Paper Plane Strike Force
This game consists of you shooting a bunch of Bob Ombs to pave the way to the final level of the game Origami Castle, which is, much sadder than it may seem. It’s fun as heck shooting down the paper planes, and the Squadron where you have to shoot like a million Bob Ombs to its face is by far personally the most fun part of the game. Why it’s this low is that it’s one of the 2 non-rematchable bosses. Once you’ve gotten to Origami Castle, this minigame won’t be accessible anymore.
6. The Submarine Sinker, Water Vellumental
This overhydrated water dragon is one of the more strategic bosses. You must take note of the water twisters and prevent them from getting in your way of making it to the Action panel to jump him and hit him with the hammer. And then, once he’s gonna blow, make your way to the Earth Vellumental Magic Circle to dodge his Mega Wave attack, which is pretty powerful. It’s personally one of the more fun bosses this game had to offer. It’s not in the top 5 since the water twisters can be pretty annoying though I never had a problem with them personally.
5. The Disco Devil, Hole Punch
The groovy lobotomiser’s 1st phase is pretty annoying, you have to find his tender spot to deal decent damage to him, while having a reduction in health,  but slamming the ever loving shit outta him when he tried to pull off his special attack is fun as hell. It makes up for the horrid 1st phase. And pulling off the rubber case as the finisher is waaayyy more fun than it needs to be. Also the music is a freaking jam.
4. The Tentacley Terror, Paper Macho Gooper Blooper
This Mario Sunshine nostalgia fest is hella fun. The 1st phase has you hammering his tentacles which is way more fun than it should be, and the 2nd phase has you hammering his eye, which is, again, way more fun than it should be. This boss is just really, REALLY fun.
3. The Dual Bladed Duelist, Scissors
One of the harder and more intense bosses, Scissors’ first phase is putting on a case for his blades for the sake of a fair fight, but once that’s done, it’s all intense, bloodpumping action from here. Scissors will use his unblockable special attack, Final Cut, and you must time your jumps to prevent an instant KO. I felt a strong urge of satisfaction when jumping over Scissors’ special attack countless times, it’s not even a laughing matter.
2. The Roshamboa, Handaconda
The first phase has you hammering him to get Olivia out of its grasp, and then, the 2nd phase is where the true fun begins. The Magic Circles are swapped with panels with images of Rock, Paper and Scissors and you must observe his hand patterns to get a chance to rush attack him with the 1000 fold arms. It feels so satisfying when you beat him in Roshambo and smash the living daylights out of him.
1. The Royal Rebel, King Olly
One of the best final bosses of all time, Olly is a culmination of what you have learned throughout your journey. The 1st phase consist of you retracing the weaknesses of the Vellumentals and using it against them, the 2nd phase consists of you slamming the ground to give Origami Bowser a helping hand in dealing the semi finishing blow towards Duraludon Olly, and the final phase has you fixing a jumbled up Giant Magic Circle while Olly bombards you with attacks that lead to quicktime events that are way more fun and dramatic than they had any right to be. Needless to say, Olly is the best boss in the Origami King.
Okay. Hear me out.
I'm currently watching a series my favourite youtuber made where he plays all the 3d Mario Games (included Captain's Toad Treasure Tracker) and complete them all 100%. Anyway. Perhaps I overthink this too much but I noticed something many bosses call themselves king of their species for example
Tumblr media
Think about King Bob-Omb from Mario 64. He is the king of all Bob-Ombs...then, why does he serve Bowser? Bowser is just the King of Koopas, isn't he? Than why does Bob-ombs serve him? Here's my theory.
Let's start by introducing the world that we are analyzing
Tumblr media
Mushroom kingdom, of course. Mushroom Kingdom is, of course, a monarchy, a constitutional Monarchy(a real life example is Marocco) to be precise. For the ones of you that don't know, a constitutional monarchy is when the ruler of the State(such as a king) has their powers limited by a constitution, however they have more powers than the ones they would have, if the State would be a Parlamentary Monarchy (such as UK in real life). The monarch in this kingdom it's pretty obvious:
Tumblr media
Princess Peach Toadstool, coming from the Toadstool bloodline. (Last name confirmed in Mario 64. Maybe sooner, but I'm not sure.).
One question may come natural. Where is the king? Or why isn't she a queen? According to Mario Wiki she should be from 20 to 23 yo, so it's not an age problem. Perhaps she just prefers to be called princess, or maybe she is not old enough according to Mushroom Kingdom's laws
Anyway that's not the question I'm trying to answer to today.
In Bowser's Inside Story, Bowser arrives at Peach's castle and he says something very interesting. When somebody tells him he has no right to be part of that runion on how to solve the Blorbs problem, he replies with "why? I'm a citizen of Mushroom Kingdom after all!" Or something like that. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a picture of that.
If he is a member of the Mushroom Kingdom, why is he a king? Well, here's what I think
In the world there is a quite big island (as it's shown in Mario Odyssey) that it's devided in a lot of different and poor Kingdoms. One that stood out among the others was definetly the so called Mushroom Kingdom, where The race called toads live. The first one in the Toadstool dynasty, with the pure use of diplomacy, united every single kingdom, creating the new Mushroom Kingdom, ruled by them. Centuries have passed and some ex kings noticed something. Almost each one of them chose their ruler simply by who was the strongest, and then made a dynasty that could always be changed by simply challenging the new monarch. Many of these ex kingdoms started to hate the toads and the Toadstool dynasty. Why? Because they were weak. The only thing that they used to solve problems was diplomacy which was hated...especially by one dynasty
The Koopa Dynasty.
With the new princess on the throne, Bowser, the new king Of Koopas, decided that he was tired of their stupid behaviour. He called out his army made of koopas, the strongest fighters in all Mushroom kingdom and decided to cooperate with other small ex kingdoms. How did he gain their trust? Simple. By fighting them, and proving that he is the strongest, gaining every other king's respect and willing to make him the new king, Once they would destroy mushroom Kingdom. Bowser had many new races joining their army: Twomps, Womps, Belldozers, Goombas, bob-ombs, Bullies, Boos and many many other.
Dr Robotnik’s Evil Lair Defense System Infomercial
(Mario kicks down the door to Bowser’s throne room where Peach is being held. To reach her, he has to go through lava pits, Goombas and Koopas, as well as Bowser himself. Mario gets through the troops with ease and uses a shell to cross the lava. But just before he reaches Bowser, time pauses. Eggman walks into the foreground wearing a suit and tie)
Eggman: Hello. I’m Dr Robotnik, and if this has ever happened to you, then you’re not alone. Heroes busting into lairs is a major problem for villains all around, myself included. However, thanks to the efforts of the League of Villains, you can now keep yourself, and your evil lair, safe and happy.
(Eggman enters a large factory filled with automated assembly lines creating minions and traps)
Eggman: I’d like to introduce the new “Robotnik Evil Lair Defense System” now with 0% Hedgehogs! Guaranteed to keep pesky heroes out! Let’s take a look at some of the features.
(Eggman puts on a rubber glove and pulls a Poison Mushroom out of a box)
Eggman: This is the Poison Mushroom. Instead of growing, it shrinks whatever eats it! The color is to fool intruders into thinking it’s a real mushroom.
(Eggman pulls out a Goomba and shoves the mushroom into its mouth. It shrinks down to the size of an ant. Eggman moves on to the next trap)
Eggman: The Guardian tracking laser! Its aim is dead-on, and obliterates in a single shot, with minimal effort!
(A Bokoblin appears in the firing range as the guardian charges up. It runs around freaking out before the laser fires. Miraculously, the Bokoblin is still alive)
Eggman: And you don’t even have to worry about hurting yourself! Next up, the trusty robot minion. It comes in all shapes and sizes, and can do whatever you want it to! It’s good at 2 things: taking orders, and eliminating outsiders.
(A variety of robots are shown, including Waddle Dees, Metroids, and Kremlings)
Eggman: Minions, Traps, this defense system has it all! And if you’re still not convinced, listen to these real, totally not paid actors
King K Rool: I haven’t had to worry about a Kong for half a week now! It really works!
Gruntilda: This new device has some care, it really keeps out the bird and bear!
Octavio: I can finally make my tunes in peace without having to worry about a squid busting in!
Ridley: *Happy Screeching*
