Circus One Piece AU with sword swallower/knife thrower Zoro and tightrope walker/aerial act Sanji please and thank you
They (and the rest of the crew) grew up in the « Thousand Sunny » circus together:
Sanji’s adoptive dad, Zeff, is the circus cook who always tells a different, wild story about how he lost his leg (it often involves a lion, even though the circus doesn’t use animals in its show, despite its lion logo)
Zoro’s parents both died in an accident when he was young and his relatives (Shimotsuki) took him in. His childhood friend Kuina had an accident and is now a wheelchair user- she handles the circus social media and marketing with Nami
They both have had crushes on each other for years but don’t dare to fo anything because not only what if the other feels the same but what if it doesn’t work out and they have to leave their circus family- so instead they keep bickering and pigtail pulling
I think it’s common for circus performers to have many abilities but specializing in certain things so let’s just assume most of them are good at basic acrobatic/circus things
Sanji is an aerial artist (aerial silks, hoops etc) and tightrope walker and Zoro is good at sword swallowing, stage combat and knife throwing
A lot of the crew are orphans who were adopted into the circus family from many countries the circus has passed through, so they have little accents and have the best time celebrating everyone’s different traditions and holidays
Usopp is a magician, Vivi does diabolo, Franky a strongman, Robin does Trapeze, Luffy is known for his contortionist act but also does some clowning, Ace and Sabo do fire performances, Brook is their communal grandpa in charge of music, Jinbei is the cool dependable uncle in charge of setting everything up to regulation and navigating their caravan where Nami tells them to go
Although she does Chinese pole, Nami is growing up to be the person who’ll take over the circus management/strategy- she wants them to make bank and strategizes on what acts they do, innovative acts and staging they can do etc
Luffy’s dream is for their circus to be the best in the world - they’re already going around different countries but he wants a full international tour, eager to take over after his grandpa (ringmaster) passes it on to him
Chopper is the adoptive son of the troupe doctor (Kureha) who does some equestrian tricks (voltige) but mostly studies hard to be a doctor too. He’s still a kid but everyone is else is an adult
Sanji often gets really distracted by Zoro during practice times- their outfits are revealing and he’s so buff and like what else can he do with his mouth goddamn
He only once called Zoro a « sword swallower » when he was a (still closeted) teen to try and bully his friend/rival but Zoro just grinned at him and said « proudly » and Sanji almost died from that mental image and never used that insult again (he might have gotten a nosebleed)
Naturally Zoro is also dumbstruck by Sanji’s beauty and grace on the regular- and he often gets in trouble for watching Sanji’s act and almost missing cues
The gang always gets into so many shenanigans in every new city they travel to and they love each other so dearly
One day a video of Zoro practicing goes viral (because he’s hot and talented) and Sanji is definitely not responsible for a few dozen views on that video
Zoro always gets a little jealous and annoyed when he finds Sanji flirting with local girls
And that’s all the ideas I have for now! Please feel free to add to this!! I’d love to see what you guys would be fun to have in the circus AU

Feel free to say no!! (人´3`)⌒♡
I just fell in love with this idea, I couldn't stand it and had to write it right away! See endnotes for thanks

IMAGINE ZORO: I WILL ALWAYS COME BACK
Zoro x Reader
Synopsis: You and Zoro maintained a long-distance relationship while he pursued his dream, until eventually you got tired of waiting.
Warnings: A little drama and almost angst but it all works out in the end
Word Count: 2,7k
Notes: This basically happens at the beginning of the anime/manga, in the East Blue arc, it doesn't exactly have spoilers but it's important for you to understand when it happens. Sorry for the bad English, read as if you are a neutral/gender reader that you identify, even if the pronouns are wrong, the translator doesn't help.
Tumblr media
You and your brother were orphans and were adopted by a retired swordsman, that's when you moved to a small village in East Blue, that's also when you met Zoro. Your father soon put your brother in kendo classes and also offered you to do the same, but unlike your relative, you had no interest in this area. His true love was exploring, the magic of discovering new places and beautiful stories to discover.
So your dad took up whatever other hobbies you had, whether it was dancing, writing, painting, or anything else that caught your eye. On the other hand, your brother continued to strive in kendo and it didn't take long to make friends, it was through him that you met Zoro, your brother's colleague. He didn't speak to you initially, only having an annoyed face when he came to ask about your brother not coming to practice, but somehow she kept showing up day after day at your house.
You were considerably friendly so you started trying to get closer, Zoro was a rough kid and not exactly the type to be kind, so it was no surprise that you ended up fighting more than actually talking. The years went by and little by little you became closer and closer, what started as a small rivalry became a friendship and well… eventually became much more. You didn't know exactly when, or why, but something changed in you, it changed the way you looked at Zoro.
Maybe it was his protective way, always making sure he took you home when you went out together. Maybe it was the way he had gotten more and more handsome, with his tanned skin, his muscles and his mature face. Maybe it was the rough but at the same time careful way, always asking if you were okay, if you were hurt, even asking about your hobbies. You didn't know exactly what made you fall in love, but you knew you were completely into that guy you met when you moved in. And no one seemed to be surprised or shocked by this.
Initially you thought it wouldn't be reciprocated, you knew that Zoro had a very strong goal and that he wouldn't give up on anything after Kuina's death, but something deep down said that you had to try. So that's what you did, you plucked up courage and confessed to him that you loved him, to your surprise he not only responded but was also embarrassed to say that he had felt that way for some time. You were so happy in that moment that you jumped into the young man's arms and knocked him to the ground, you were loved back and you couldn't hide your happiness.
Your brother and father were quick to say that they had expected this, that it was more than obvious that you would be together at some point. Although you wanted to deny it, maybe it was really true, you couldn't remember a time when you and Zoro weren't together, whether it was fighting or just eating snacks, he was always there for you. That's why her heart faltered when she heard him say those words.
"I need to go… If I want to be the strongest swordsman I need to meet people, fight, I need to… Leave my mark on the world" His eyes shone with determination and he didn't waver for a moment.
"I… I know" you admitted although your stomach was heavy, you couldn't stop him, you knew how important it was to achieve that "Take me with you! I'll help you achieve this!" You also had determination in his blood. She might not have a dream as big as her boyfriend's, but she had a need to be there and take care of him and she wouldn't be left behind.
"I can't" her eyes widened in shock at his response "If I take you and if you get hurt I… I'll never be able to forgive myself" he admitted with loathing, self loathing for being unable to guarantee his safety in that unlikely sea.
"Are you going alone?" You asked incredulously.
"I'm leaving tomorrow morning…" he said emotionlessly.
"And you're going to leave me here?!" You couldn't believe the "Are you really breaking up with me and leaving me here?!" You were now screaming with tears streaming down your face, you knew he would do everything to make his dream come true, but he didn't think you would be left behind in the process.
"No?" He snapped back in shock at your rendition "Listen here" he grabbed your hand tightly and pulled you to him, pressing your bodies together "You're mine! And nobody else's, I didn't assume I loved you just to leave you behind! I I have to go, you know that, but I promise I'll be back, so (y/n), wait for me" he pleaded with the most gentleness you've ever seen from a man.
You gave your answer by giving the man a passionate kiss while hugging him, but the next morning you woke up to your cold bed and being all alone.
It was difficult in the first few weeks, you felt unmotivated and without reason to continue a life without having Zoro with you. Your father and your brother did the best, along with all your friends to cheer you up, they took you out, to play, they listened to you and let you show all your anguish without judgment. When two months had passed you could already go out to do your chores and you didn't cry every time you went to sleep anymore, you were managing to be strong.
A little after you got used to missing him you got the news that he was coming back, he had made some money by capturing pirates and even won some battles. You couldn't be more excited about it, finally seeing Zoro was everything to you. Although the nights you spent together were everything, going weeks without hearing from him was heartbreaking, being able to meet your loved one every few months was amazing but nothing replaces the emptiness he left when he left your bed and left.
Every time Zoro came back you asked if you could go with him, you might not be the best fighter but you could make up for it with other exploration and survival skills in the wild, you would be useful! But he always denied it, saying that the sea was unpredictable and that you were safe there in the small village, something you couldn't disagree with. So you sighed deeply and agreed to stay there as long as he promised to keep coming back to you and obviously staying alive. At least you'd still have him and you couldn't afford to lose it by being a tantrum.
It didn't take long for Zoro to create a reputation as a pirate hunter, you were happy but that caused some fights between you. His security became less and less reliable and you were afraid one day he would just leave and never come back, he would try to say he was strong and none of that would happen, but you both knew he couldn't guarantee it. You tried to fight to go along, but he reasoned that if the risk was already great for him, it was twice as great for you, and although you wanted to help in the end it would just end up being a burden. Your heart hurt in that fight and you still remember how much you cried, but you really couldn't defend yourself from that, what would you help?
So when he left with a promise to come back, you decided it was time to cry! You pulled your brother, who was already a good swordsman after years of training, and demanded that he train you. Initially he denied it, just to tease you, but after you punched him and demanded that he help you get strong to follow Zoro, he happily agreed. Their father was more than happy to hear that his two sons would venture out into the world following the art of swordsmanship, needless to mention how he got emotional and weeping about children growing up too fast.
So you fought and honed as much as you could in the period you assumed Zoro would be gone, then when the months passed and the time came for him to return you waited... And waited... And waited... But he didn't come back.
Your heart was broken, you heard rumors of him joining a pirate crew and even some battle involving another swordsman, but you were far away and gossip was unreliable. So you kept your best smile and kept waiting, but as the days went by you felt more and more disappointed not to hear anything about his possible return, had he abandoned you?
"That idiot! When I see him I'm going to punch him until tomorrow!" His brother screamed walking around the house, he was extremely frustrated to see his brother abandoned by his partner like this. His sadness was already gone and now there was only doubt and anger left, were you really so weak for him to abandon you like that?
"It's all… He must… Ah… I don't know" you gave up thinking about why Zoro never came back, the more you thought the sadder you got, there was no use crying over spilled milk now.
"Hey… (y/n), it's not your fault, you know…" your brother tried to comfort you.
"I just…"
"A LETTER" Your father shouted entering the room quickly, you both looked confused and in shock without understanding anything "Zoro sent a letter!"
The mention of his name made your heart flutter through and through, you still loved him and had high hopes that he had a good reason why he didn't come back like before.
"Where?! Give it to me!" You shouted looking for the older man, he laughed happily seeing you more excited than he had in months, then handed you the piece of paper. You quickly opened it as you walked away to read it in privacy.
"(Y/n) I know it's been many months since we last met, I hope you don't think I gave up on us because of that fight. I didn't want to say you were a burden but I was scared of the idea of losing you, I thought I was weak to protect you alone and I was really right: I am weak.
A lot of things have happened in the last few months and it's not fair for me to explain everything in a simple letter, I didn't even want to write but I thought it was only fair to let you know before I came back so you would know howI'm sure I didn't give up on you. I met some people and ended up becoming a pirate, maybe you've heard the rumors but don't worry, I promise I'll explain everything to you and I admit I'm kind of excited to introduce you to them.
I'm coming back soon, I don't know when this letter will reach you but I must be close. Let's talk and I promise to let you beat me for taking so long, I love you, see you soon."
You felt the tears welling up as your legs grew weak, you hugged the letter as if it were a little piece of Zoro, a little piece of your Zoro. You sighed in relief as you felt that emotion taking over, you were right to keep hope in the man you loved, he would never give up on you and he was proving it by coming back. So there was no reason to remain sad! You needed to prepare yourself and show how strong you were now, how everything had changed! But mostly, how you were never going to let him go again.
"So, did he break up with you?" your brother asked nudging you.
"Of course no!" You laughed and started running to your room, you needed to pack soon!
"It's good to see him excited again…" his father commented happily.
It didn't take more than four days for a small ship to dock in the city's harbor, you were excited to rush out there and snatch Zoro away from whoever had kept him away for so long. But you were also angry! So you sat on the hill you two used to kiss and waited for him to come to you, which didn't take long either.
"(Y/n)..." You heard his voice and his body exploded, joy, sadness, anxiety. Everything rushed through his veins and his heart felt like it could burst with anticipation.
"Zoro…" you turned to see him, he looked a bit stronger and beaten up, confirming to you that the last few months had been difficult.
"I…" he approached you with open arms, but didn't get a chance to say anything else before you punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground in shock.
"You idiot! Idiot! You ridiculous idiot!" You threw yourself on top of him and started slapping him "You selfish! Self-absorbed! Stupid! You!" You screamed as you felt the tears running out of control, you were so happy that he had come back to you. You stopped hitting him and clung to his chest, crying as you took in that familiar, comforting scent.
"I wasn't serious when I said you could hit me" you felt his hands around you and soon you were lying on the floor and holding each other.
"You deserve so much more for leaving me for so long! You're lucky I didn't let my brother or daddy get to you… They'd tear you apart!" You said sulking.
"Of course, I don't even want to imagine" he teased knowing that his brother had never beaten him in a fight.
You looked at him smiling while admiring every detail of that face that you loved so much, he approached and gave you a small kiss.
"I'm sorry it took so long… Things didn't go as I planned" he apologized.
"Hm… I guess… But you could have sent a letter…" you mumbled.
"Yes, I should have done that" it was rare to see Zoro admitting his mistakes "We have a lot to catch up on but… There's something I need to talk to you about first" he said with a certain seriousness.
"Me too!" You thought of it as the perfect opening to speak.
"Oh? Well, say it then…" he thought it only fair to let you speak first after so long.
"I'll go with you this time!" You exclaimed with fire and determination.
"Hey! Can't even one go with you Zoro?" he said imitating a thin voice.
"Idiot!" You punched him "I'm done asking you for things! This time I'm going and you're not going to stop me!" You said angrily "I spent all this time doing something you know? I wouldn't just sit around waiting on your soft ass! I trained a lot! I'm pretty sure I can beat you now, so you have no reason to leave me here anymore!" You explained excitedly.
"About that…" you felt his smile falter "What I wanted to tell you is…" he looked away and his stomach dropped "I was going to take you along anyway" he turned and smiled, he loved to tease you!
"Don't make suspense like that!" You punched his chest "Are you serious? Do you want me to come along?"
"I had a lot of time to think after I lost a battle… I realized that I could die at any moment and I would simply lose all the chances I had to be by your side…" He spoke with seriousness and sadness "I don't want to leave and never come back, I don't want to keep you waiting alone when we could be exploring together! To be together!" He looked at you and there was a twinkle in his eyes "I talked to my captain, I would only join the crew if I could be a part of it, he didn't even think about turning it down… (y/n), I want to live as long as possible with you, in addition to achieving my goal, I want to have a happy life, a life by your side"
"Zoro…" you were speechless, completely surprised.
"So, let's explore the sea together! We're going to leave East Blue, go to the Grand Line to be famous pirates, you said you trained, right? Then you'll be more than ready to accompany us!" He smiled confidently.
"Yes! I also want to live by your side, Zoro!" You hugged him tighter.
Maybe Zoro had taken a while to realize that his place was by his side, but that didn't matter anymore, nor did it hurt or irritate you. He was here now and above all that he would never leave your side, you would stay together and explore the vast ocean of the world. There was nothing else that could make you as happy as being next to the man you loved.

Notes: I really loved writing this imagine because I loved the idea! Thank you so much for ordering with me, feel free to come back and ask for more if you like this work! I tried to make it gender-neutral because I don't want to tie my imagines to a specific gender reader, but the translator always puts everything in the masculine and I apologize for that! If you didn't like it let me know and I'll make a new version trying to make it up to you! Thanks

Genderbent Headcanons!
@genderbenduniverse requested genderbent Straw Hats and beyond! So here are my imagines for each Straw Hat, plus Law and Ace for good measure.
WARNING: I made them all dress slutty because I’m a crazy person
Luffy
Femme!Luffy isn’t much different than masc Luffy, I think. Gender doesn’t seem to be a thing that Luffy relates to much. She wears her hair in a short ponytail, and dresses mostly in loose jorts and t-shirts. She thinks makeup is genuinely hilarious and doesn’t even know what most of it is (she’s been known to put mascara on her forehead). I think there’s quite a few men (and women!) along the grand line that would love to date her, but she’s completely oblivious and uninterested.
Zoro
I already kinda HC Zoro as a trans man, so genderbent Zoro would be a trans woman! I imagine she transitioned after Kuina’s death because a) she promised Kuina she would and b) she wants to prove the world’s greatest swordsman can be a girl after all. Zoro wears her hair in a short pixie cut, and wears a simple wrap over her breasts (and not much else, she still loves going topless). She’s still muscular as fuck and definitely gives off butch vibes, but she’s very much still a woman.
Sanji
Sanji (Sanju?) is the femmest femme that ever femmed. Her long blond hair is always perfectly styled, her makeup is always on point, and her nails, while short, are usually painted to match whatever she’s cooking that day. And yes. She fights in 4 inch heels. But make no mistake—even tho she’s femme, she’s gay as the day is long. She’s always flirting with girls, trying to come across as a top, but come on. It’s painfully obvious that Sanji is a bottom. As a woman, Sanji has really had to fight to secure a place in the kitchen as an expert chef, and she does NOT tolerate bullshit or sexist remarks.
Nami
He’s lithe. He’s handsome. He has the perfect mustache. He’s undeniably smooth, sexy, and clever—the classic rogue. Nami typically dresses in VERY tight pants and flowing blouses, a couple buttons undone to reveal soft chest hair beneath. Nami will do anything it takes to get some extra cash. Pocket-picking is not beneath him, but he prefers a little bit of manipulation or even snake-oil-selling. It’s easy for him to tune into others’ emotions, and that’s his strongest weapon. That and his objectively perfect body. He’s the ONLY man that Sanji’s ever had any interest in.
Usopp
I imagine Usopp has a gorgeous head of natural hair that she’s really protective over. Other than that, she’s not much of a girly girl though. She wears skirts over leggings so she can still climb high in the rigging. And she’s known for the outrageous tales she tells about her sex life (and honestly I feel like fem!Usopp does get laid a lot, so who knows if it’s actually lies…)
Chopper
I can’t imagine Chopper is much different as a girl than a boy, but she has no antlers! I could also maybe see her having a mothering instinct, especially toward other animals!
Robin
Masc!Robin has short but well maintained black hair and usually dresses in a leather jacket and tight jeans. Idk why, but I could really see masc Robin having a motorcycle (perhaps built for him by his amazing girlfriend Franky?). His quiet personality and sudden, probing questions can put some people off, but deep down he’s just a good guy who wants to study the world around him. He can often be found in his study with a pipe and a book, researching historical events for the Straw Hats and talking quietly with Chopper, who he’s basically adopted as his daughter. I could also see him being really into cowboy shit for some reason? Maybe his study is all decorated Western Style.
Franky (short for Francesca)
Franky is still a cyborg, her whole body augmented. She always wears the world’s tiniest booty shorts over her sculpted steel butt (poor Sanji, our girl is down bad for those shorts), and you should see the shit Franky’s done with her boobs. Rocket launchers, helicopter nips, emergency flotation devices—those things can do anything. She loves subverting people’s expectations of her gender—Franky’s loud, extroverted personality and obsession with hairstyling gives off the vibes of kind of a basic party girl, but she’s still the engineering genius we know and love. Her boyfriend, Robin, can’t get enough of her.
Brooke
Brooke doesn’t look much different as she’s still a skeleton, but she wears the coolest vintage dresses you’ve ever seen. This woman can SING, and often serenades the Straw Hats with original blues and ballads. Of course, she can also play pretty much any instrument you can think of, but she’s a singer first and foremost. I like to imagine that her voice is as mesmerizingly beautiful as a siren’s (even if she doesn’t have any vocal cords, yohohoho!)
Law
Think Siouxie Sioux here. Law is the ultimate gloomy big tiddy goth GF, covered in tattoos that remind her of her mother figure, Cora. She’s tall, dresses in your standard 80s/90s mall goth clothes, and is rarely seen without a cigarette. You wouldn’t guess that she’s actually a talented doctor. Her best friend, Bepo, is the most important person in her life and is one of the only people to get to see Law’s warm, happy side.
Ace
Our lovely Ace wears her mane of black hair in a messy, shoulder length bob. She rarely wears makeup, and has long since given up trying to wear a shirt (they kept burning off). Instead, she covers up with a band of fire to hide her bits and bobs. Sanji wants to kill herself over this woman. She’s a shameless flirt, and notoriously bisexual—she’s probably slept with half the Grand Line by this point. Athletic, charismatic, and a powerful fighter, it’s truly an honor to get femme!Ace’s vivre card.
Thanks again for the prompt! I’d love to write something with the genderbent Straw Hats so if anyone has suggestions throw them my way!

HiyorixKuina anon again!
I was thinking about Kuina more than average and I came up with this concuction.
So you often see that in many Modern AUs you have Perona and Zoro being Mihawk's adoptive children, and while I like this what if Kuina 2as also his adoptive daughter???
Imagine, you have Zoro being an orphan from a young age so he gets taken in by his relatives. But then something horrible happens (could be Kuina's mom dying or Koushiro kills her since everybody seems to agree he is murder coded) so Kuina and Zoro are taken away by CPS and are assigned to Mihawk, who had already adopted Perona. (I hc that Moria would be her bio dad, and he lost custidy due to his experiments on corpses and other stuff)
What we get is a sit-com like dinamic of middle aged single parent swordsman with 3 kids: one is goth, one is insane, one is bith and they are all gay.
I think that Kuina would really like Mihawk since he would teach her and not discriminate (as far as we know) and he would also reconize that Kuina is a better pupil than Zoro, which would add another layer to their rivarly and relationship.
Plus Perona and Kuina being vastly different older sister who are the two opposing extemes on the lesbian spectrum but still come togheter for each other when they need it and to annoy their dumb little brother would be so funny to me. I think Kuina would protect Perona from bullies and general pricks and they would both do wierd shit togheter like mutilate their Barbies to scare people.
I think Kuina would really get along with Zoro's friends siblings, obviously Ace and maybe also Sabo since they both reject the bigoted values that some people impose, but I think she would like Nojiko as well. The two of them both know the horrors of the real world so I think they would use some of the darkest humor ever with each other. And all of them would obviously keep talking about their siblings, that can't be avoided.
I also think Kuina might be Sanji's rival too. After all he treats women vastly different from men (even if its with benevolent intentions) and Kuina woukd interprete thus as Sanji thinking women are weak. So its Zoro and Kuina coming togheter against their shared rival: swirly eyebrowed dumb cook. But ironically Kuina would be fond of the dumb cook's boyfriend, after all Usopp is also a very underrated genious who defyes people's expectation to prove himself as strong and worthy.
Bonus headcanon: Yamace and Hiyoku double dates. Wlw and mlm solidariety at its finest.
HEY BESTIE!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAA I love all of this. It's awesome. I just know Kuina and Perona would be complete opposites but would love and protect each other a lot. Like, they're weird in their own ways. People don't like Perona because she's all dark and creepy and with a very princess-like personality and people don't like Kuina much because she doesn't fall in the standard men have for women and swordsmen. So they fit together perfectly even though they're different. And they'd take care of Zoro and also make fun of him 24/7. This is great. Also, Mihawk be adopting children every fucking where. I don't know if I should be sorry for him or not. At least his family is cool. Perona is his princess <3 Kuina is his fav pupil!! And Zoro is Zoro. He's just Zoro.
This is basically the situation:
Tumblr media
(He does care btw, he's just shitty when it comes to feelings and Zoro isn't as cute as his girls)
And yes, Kuina would definitely not stand Sanji but love Usopp. I agree completely. Their views don't match at all but well, Sanji can live with it (he can't. He's crying).
AND YAMACE AND HIYOKU DOUBLE DATES!!!!!!!! CUTE!!!!!!!!! It'd be a bit chaotic, honestly. Both couples have such a different energy 😭😭 Ace might seem a bit more relaxed but the second Yamato goes insane about something, he probably does too if he likes it. So I can definitely imagine Kuina like "I wanted this to be an actual date,, I am sorry, I should've thought about this better-" and Hiyori would just laugh softly at Yamace's shenanigans because she's having the time of her life.

au where sabo actually becomes a pirate. so, he still looses his memories and is saved by dragon but in this au he remembers his dream of becoming a pirate and writing a book about his travels, and really only remembering that decides to follow said dreams in hopes of recovering his memory while doing so.
so, he becomes a pirate at the ripe age of 10 years old. and somehow everyone he comes across is completely endeared to this this little snot-nosed ball of energy. i imagine along the way he picks up some of his own crew too, maybe kuina as his first mate? koala too! i like the idea of some stray kid just picking up other stray kids like it’s nobodies business. i think at wano (or maybe even before that) yamato joins too. they have a lot in common and i think their relationship would be fun. i’m honestly not sure for other members it could go any way you want it to, really. the more tragic the character is the better, really
his crew forms a pretty close relationship with the wbp too, who just find them drifting at sea on a boat that they definitely can’t sail and are immediately like ONE OF US!! not only would that be a nice eventual reunion for koala with jimbe and the other sun pirates, it means that they aren’t completely vulnerable. and, eventually, it gives sabo a route to meet ace again, probably helping him remember the rest of his memories.
also,, ace and luffy thinking that sabo is 100%, definitely, without a doubt dead and then suddenly seeing a bounty poster for him (because, lets be honest, the marines are NOT above putting a bounty on a bunch of mostly harmless children) and being like wtf?? and also there is some conflict potential there because they have no sabo lost his memory. they just think he presumably just left them to think he died. I don’t think it would be a huge thing,, but there’s definitely some feelings about that.
basically just a lot of sabo getting into impossible situations and somehow weaselling himself out of them. & a lot of adults being absolutely terrified and concerned for this band of tiny children just,, out in the world with absolutely zero responsible adults around to look after them. there is a lot of impromptu adoption attempts, all of which fail to increasingly hilarious degrees,, and also because these kids just want to be free to explore the world and achieve their dreams and they’d be damned if anyone stopped them — even if it is super dangerous on the grand line.

One Piece warrior cats au because yes
The Straw Hats + some of their allies' equivalents are all chosen by StarClan to be part of the long-lost clan SunClan (basically SkyClan with a few extra steps). Some are from the four Clans: ThunderClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan and WindClan (the only thing that connects these incarnations of the Clans to their book counterparts are their names as no cats from Warriors canon appear in them and this AU is set in North America), while others are former loners, rogues or kittypets.
Luffy: Strawprance/Strawstar: A short but fluffy bright red-orange tabby with big brown eyes and a scar under his left eye from when he got into a skirmish as an apprentice. Originally of ThunderClan. His father is the rogue Gust (Dragon), a black ghost tabby and the leader of a rogue group that wants to bring a new era to the Clans. Gust's mate brought their kit to ThunderClan since they couldn't raise him, and Strawkit was raised alongside his adoptive brothers by Bearleaf (Dadan). Gust used to live in ThunderClan, but left because of a tyrannical leader and his influence on the cats of ThunderClan. However, Gust's father Coyotebite (Garp), a grayish-brown ticked tabby, still resides in ThunderClan. Strawstar is energetic, stubborn and somewhat childish, which has led to some cats doubting his ability to lead SunClan. However, Strawstar is extremely devoted to his Clanmates and often asks outsiders to join SunClan.
Zoro: Mosstiger: The deputy of SunClan, Mosstiger is a large, muscular dark brown tabby with one eye scarred shut (yes i know but in what universe would zoro's warrior cat counterpart NOT be a tigerstar clone). He was originally a rogue named Moss who hung out around ShadowClan's territory a lot, and when he was apprentice-aged, he used to have a rival in the form of ShadowClan apprentice Stoatpaw (Kuina), a gray-and-white she-cat. One day, Stoatpaw went out on a patrol by herself, tumbled down the side of a cliff and died from her injuries. From this day, Moss swore to get stronger for her sake. Strawstar saved him from being taken by Twolegs, and the two became close friends (although Mosstiger doesn't consider Strawstar his friend, even if he would die for him.) Fun fact: Mosstiger doesn't believe in StarClan. He considers it all a bunch of kits' tales told to keep cats in check.
Law: Snowspot: Snowspot, a white cat with black patches all over his body, is the medicine cat of SunClan. He hails from RiverClan and used to be a warrior apprentice, training under Nightswan (Corazon), a long-haired solid black cat. However, Nightswan was murdered by his brother, Gooseflower (Doffy), a lilac tabby, who was exiled for murdering several other cats before, including Snowspot's parents. Snowspot then decided to become a medicine cat apprentice so he could be able to speak with StarClan cats like Nightswan.
Ace: Pantherstone: Pantherstone is a black-and-white cat with faint rosette markings. His father was the notorious rogue Lion (Roger), who was also a black-and-white cat and was feared among the Clans for ransacking and attacking camps. Pantherstone gets his rosette markings from his mother Poppy (Rouge), who died while kitting Pantherstone and his two littermates, who both ended up dying. A ThunderClan patrol ended up finding Pantherkit and bringing him to the clan. He was very hotheaded and temperamental as a kit and young apprentice, often bullying his adoptive brother Strawstar for being whiny. However, after the disappearance of Blazewing, he calmed down and became more responsible. His mentor originally was Coyotebite, but after he told the entire clan Pantherpaw was Lion's kit and caused the poor apprentice to get endlessly bullied, the leader changed Pantherpaw's mentor to Cloudwhisker (Whitebeard).
Sabo: Blazewing: Blazewing is a purebred Russian Blue who once belonged to a rich breeder that only cared about his looks. He ended up running away and joining ThunderClan after befriending Pantherkit. However, when he was an apprentice and nearing his warrior ceremony, he went out on a solo patrol, only for a forest fire to rip through the territory. Blazewing was never seen again and presumed dead by the Clan, but in actuality Gust found him and brought him back to his rogue group, who nursed him back to health and offered him a place to stay. However, Blazewing didn't remember a thing except for his name.
Sanji: Goatfoot: Goatfoot is a golden-yellow cat with black back legs. He is one of the most skilled hunters in the Clans and never uses his teeth in battle with another cat, only to hunt. He also has a very prominent weakness towards she-cats (and possibly Mosstiger too). He was originally from RiverClan, and ran away with his older sister Salmontail to join ThunderClan to escape his cruel father and littermates.
Chopper: Antlerpaw: SunClan's medicine cat apprentice is Antlerpaw, a small brown-and-white cat. He used to be a loner, and was the runt of his litter. His parents left him to die, when he was found by two loners: Sparrow (Hiriluk), a light brown mottled cat, and Foxglove (Kureha), a gray tabby. Sparrow and Foxglove taught Antler about medicine and conversing with StarClan, but Sparrow ended up dying after eating a poisonous mushroom he thought could be a panacea.
Anyways, I don't want this to get too long, so maybe I'll do a part 2 soon
I know literally nothing about warrior cats, other than they are cats and also warriors. I watched like... two animatics when I was around 10, got confused about what was happening and that was it.
I'm still posting if anyone is interested :))

just had an au idea. nothing for it yet but im rlly exited to work on it!!!
Ranma 1/2 au with Zoro as Ranma (Kuina being the form he obtains from the "Spring of 'Drowned' Girl") and Koushirou as Genma.
This would require rewriting both stories backstories a little to work but the basic jist im going for is that Kuina would have died to the springs before Koushirou adopts Zoro.
Kuina drowns because of a training mishap (similar to ranma/genma in canon and zoro/koushirou will do in this au but, yknow,,, permanent) because she was left unsupervised as koushirou is unsupportive of her trying to become the 'man amongst men'/worlds greatest swordsman, him believing its only worth training a male heir. He thinks she ran away and is left without closure until he and zoro fall themselves.
i don't really like animanga!Koushirou for obvious reasons but i think this could be a very interesting vessel to actually explore those negative traits. his misogynistic world-views and the way the effected his daughter but also his grief around loosing her (Zoro being the recipient towards all this when he just wants to play with swords poor guy) since he is inadvertently partially to blame. or at-least he believes so.
Zoro, not directly knowing her learns about her largely from other people and their reactions to him in her form and that's when/why he decides to become a 'man amongst men'/worlds greatest swordsman for both of them. i think he would be generally fine with having a female form, considering he is written with a 'person first'/genderblind view of gender in canon, stigma moreso pushed onto him by koushirou/others.
i haven't thought much about the other characters (akane I’m completely blanking on for idea) yet but s’ what I’ve got so far XP

Fighter Pilot AU - All the character's roles in the storyline so far (Pt. 1/3)
Hello everyone! I decided to organize my notes app more by adding everyone's roles to this post. So far, this AU includes Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, Usopp, Chopper, Robin, Franky, Shanks, Garp, and Mihawk. I hope I can add in Koby somehow bc Luffy/Koby has my heart but as a newbie to the OP canon storyline I'll have to read more of the manga first since I just barely got to the Water 7 arc...
Anyways, heres the masterlist of major traits, roles, flying habits, etc. that I can think of for Luffy, Zoro, and Nami! Enjoy!
Luffy: Luffy is a fucking lunatic while flying...you know the scene at the end of maverick where the enemy 5th gen pull that free flying shit and use gravity/steering alone to evade fucking missles??? yeah, luffy does that shit. bro takes "dont think just do" too literally and is somehow the top of his class bc of it. Shanks definitely taught him that.
Luffy is Zoro's best friend and also close to Sanji, but in this AU, Luffy and Zoro are either childhood friends or just happened to be in the same company together for basic training and have stuck together since then. Maybe in the past, Zoro was Luffy's nav until Nami joined the group, and then Zoro flew solo afterward like he wanted.
He's the youngest of the group for this series as well, at least under 21 but above 18. In modern standards, enlisted soldiers will be 18 or older for this AU, but I also dont think Luffy is old enough to drink. That being said, Luffy doesn't care for smoking or alcohol anyway since he prefers to eat all the snacks he wants lmao
I also believe in adoptive dad Shanks supremacy in this AU. Yes, I know who Luffy's canon dad is. No, I will not be following canon. Canon is simply a suggestion at this point, and this entire AU is self indulgent as hell anyway. Shanks being luffy's father figure means that having to spectate Luffy in the marines is both reassuring and also two seconds away from giving him a panic attack but we'll talk more about that in his own entry later.
Zoro: Zoro joined the marines with Kuina the moment they both grew out of foster care. Even though they were both in separate locations for basic training (Zoro in the east blue and Kuina was probably in the north blue) they constantly kept in contact. Kuina is essentially Zoro's big sister, and he looked up to her a LOT and is the main reason why he even became a pilot.
In the beginning, Zoro joined to be in infantry (or infantry equivilant) and Kuina joined to be a pilot (I can see her being a fighter pilot for sure, but she would also probably do well as a bomber or even a test pilot in the beginning). Kuina would always talk about her achievements and adventures when she was legally allowed to, and Zoro would do the same. After a year, when they were setting up a meeting date to visit each other since Zoro would be stationed in the North Blue with her, he gets the news that she passed away.
During his assignment in the North Blue, which was originally supposed to be 2 years long, he was pulled out a year early. This is when he meets Mihawk. This meeting will most likely be when Zoro decides to change career paths and after months of arguing with admin and the world government he can finally change jobs to be a pilot and finish what Kuina started: Becoming the world's greatest fighter pilot.
Zoro flies like he fights in the manga/anime. Defensive and only offensive when his squad is threatened. This is how he gets a confirmed kill after resuming his assignment in the North Blue under his new job title. Although he's the newest to piloting in the top gun program in this AU, he's extremely gifted, and I also believe zoro is smarter than people make him out to be as well.
Nami: Nami originally became a pilot for the pay (irl in the U.S. pilots make decent pay as far as I know, so im basing it off that knowledge. Piloting can have diverse pay, though). She wanted to send money to her family to help keep them afloat, especially since their home relies on agriculture for income. Although she prefers nav over being a fighter pilot, her skills caught the eyes of a few top gun instructors, and so she used that to be able to get accepted into the program. Her, Usopp, and Robin bond over this, despite Usopp being a talented fighter pilot as well.
Nami is also extremely smart, not only academically but also practically. Her street smarts, as I like to call them, are extremely useful to the friend group, especially when training and doing mock combat exercises. Zoro actually respects this about her and grows to become a close friend of hers as well. In this AU, when Zoro doesnt know how to talk to the men about something, he'll usually go to Nami since not only is she great at reading people but also doesnt sugar coat her thoughts or feelings.
I like to think that Luffy also latches onto her as well, and when she attempts to leave the program, Luffy immediately refuses to let her and gets the rest of the group to encourage her to stay. She's always had a rough time trusting people, but the friends she's made out of her squad members have helped her open up a lot more.

Okay so mafia AU
The Wonderland’s tea party is an organization led by the Hatter. It’s specializes in drug trafficking, blackmail and selling information.
Arisu and Usagi are it’s newest members. They got recruited on accident really and it’s mostly Arisu’s fault. He was on the subway one day and sat beside this older man wearing sunglasses struggling with a piece of paper on his hand. It was hatter, who was trying to figure out the safest routes in and out of a building for an information robbery from a big company. Arisu had kinda peered at the map, gotten excited because *puzzle*, and offered Hatter some help. After Hatter tells him the “rules” Arisu spends the rest of the ride tracing out paths and tragedies, before leaving a baffled Hatter behind.
So Hatter’s like “we need this kid” and sends Niragi and Last Boss to “Invite him for tea”. Unfortunately for them, when they go to corner Arisu, he’s out with Usagi, and Usagi upon being told by Arisu that he think’s they’re being followed, and notices Piercings and Face Tattoos, goes “I think the fuck not”, grabs her best friend and *bolts*.
And run she does, going full parkour ninja, hauling Arisu’s skinny ass around. Niragi and Last Boss try following them, but after a while, she just looses them altogether. They report back to Hatter who just goes: “He has a ninja girlfriend?? We need them” and he’s really excited about it.
He sends in Chishiya and Kuina to actually talk to them this time and after some coaxing, they agree to at least try out. They both need the money.
What they didn’t expect was for them to be immediately adopted into the found family dynamic. Arisu and Kuina are immediately trans buddies, and Aguni is like “Okay, two more children for me and Takeru”, Last Boss takes the position of scary older brother, specially for Usagi, and even Niragi treats them nicely (in his own way).
Feat. Very concerned friends Karube and Chouta who have no idea what’s happening, their college classmates, who are running a rumor mill, Arisu’s awful family that keeps popping up even after he moves in with Usagi and Shibuki, who’s literally just vibing.
Also, this is probably Arisu x Chishiya
ROLECALL
Name: Danma Takeru
Code name: Mad Hatter
Skills: He is the leader and founder of Wonderland’s tea party. What used to be a two person gang grew into an organization because of his visionary attitude and charming personality. His charisma allows for nice deals and sales, while his ruthlessness keeps their family protected. He doesn’t usually go out on mission, but he’s a skilled fighter and a surprisingly smart man. He also has a keen eye and sharp intuition, especially when picking out new members.
Name: Aguni Morizono
Code name: Bandersnatch
Skills: He is the second founder and Hatter’s right hand man. He is the muscle of the operation, the strongest member on the team. He is responsible for dealing with their enemies, carrying out threats, defending their territory and keeping their family safe. He also trains all members on how to use guns, weapons and fight. He took Usagi under his wing, as he not only could see a bit of himself in her, but their fighting styles could be similar.
Name: Chishiya Shuntaro
Code name: Cheshire
Skills: He’s their doctor. He patches up whoever is hurt and occasionally deals with a dead body or two. He’s also responsible for gathering intel. He often goes undercover in big corporations and rival groups to gather some vital secret information that could be sold for a lot of money, or takes those groups down from the inside. He’s the one who took Arisu under his wing, noticing how good he is at reading people’s hearts, he’s been teaching him how to manipulate and lie and now they usually go undercover together.
Name: Kuina Hikari
Code name: Caterpillar or Absolem
Skills: Kuina is a dealer. She accompanies Hatter when he goes to strike a deal not only because of her charisma and people skills, but because she functions as a secret bodyguard. She’s also usually on robberies and stealth missions, where being undercover is not necessary but they still need to get in and out of somewhere unseen to get shit done. To those, she’s usually paired with Chishiya. She’s the one teaching Arisu how to fight, since their styles are the most similar.
Name: Niragi Suguru
Code name: March Hare
Skills: This is their killer ok? Need someone disposed of? Call Niragi. Need someone intimidated? Call Niragi. Some group is trying to start a turf war? Call Aguni who’s gonna take Niragi and Last Boss and they’ll fix it. Niragi’s also responsible for their weapons and sometimes will help with scheming. He’s decievingly protective of his family and shows affection with acts of violence. If you want any piercings he’ll do it for you.
Name: Samura Takatora (last boss)
Code name: Jabberwocky
Skills: His position is the same as Niragi’s. They are usually paired together for missions. While Niragi takes care of the guns, Last Boss takes care of knives and swords. They are usually sent with Ann or Arisu whenever they have to meet people and their looks alone are enough to intimidate any potential threats. He’s been teaching Usagi how to spear fight and is secretly delighted someone else has taken to more traditional weapons. If you ever want a tattoo, he’s the one to ask for.
Name: Ann Rizuna
Code name: White Queen
Skills: She’s the one responsible for most of their drug operation. While Hatter makes the deals, she’s the one crutching numbers, distributing product and sometimes even cooking up drugs herself. She can also fill in for Chishiya as their doctor and Along with him, Arisu and Niragi, she’s the one tracing most of their plans. If any of them were to die, she would be the one responsible for finding out who did it and helping to hunt them down.
Name: Tatta Kodai
Codename: Dormouse or Arganaz
Skills: Tatta is their getaway driver. He can outdrive everyone and anyone. His knowledge in mechanics helps them with their robberies and he’s been known to pull some Dean Winchester level stunts behind the wheel. He also keeps communication between teams clear and smooth. He’s been learning some basics under Ann’s wing and is getting pretty good at, uh, cooking.
Name: Usagi Yuzuha
Code name: White Rabbit
Skills: She’s a fighter and a runner. When she’s not in a position similar to Aguni’s, she’s doing patrols around their territory, spying on rivals and enemies from the top of buildings and helping Tatta to keep all the teams in the know. She’s usually paired with Arisu in the same way Kuina is paired with Chishiya. She’s also the only one that can keep them all sleeping a minimum of four hours a night and eating somewhat healthy food with a decent frequency. Many suspect that if Aguni retires, she’ll be the one to take his place.
Name: Arisu Ryohei
Code name: Alice
Skills: Arisu quickly become a big part of the brains behind most of their operations. He views plans with Hatter, tracing escape routes and planning damage control. He also goes undercover with or without Chishiya a lot, his innocent demeanor making him appear trustworthy. He’s also the one to analyze their oponents and tell the teams exactly where to look at for blackmail. He wrote down the plans that actually took down some big corporations. He’s been learning how to fight from Kuina, and is steadily getting better. He’s been also slowly learning how to hack, it’s just another puzzle for him.

Tbh I'm actually really glad that Zoro isn't related to hmmm forgot his name but yknow the samurai. It's actually kinda neat that the samurai was Kuina's grandpa... But anyway I think it's good because part of the reason why Zoro is my fave is that while he's super strong and badass he's also kind of a nobody? Ordinary guy? Like at his beginning he's just really a normal person (I mean. Yeah he's kinda insane as in insanely stubborn but that's not what I mean lmao). Like he doesn't have a famous/powerful/etc family (like Luffy, Sanji, even Usopp since his dad is part of Shank's crew... Franky was basically adopted by Tom who built Roger's ship...) he's not a "genius" (like Nami and Robin in their respective domains), his backstory is not particularly tragic (I mean YEAH losing a friend/sibling is fucking awful but. That's kinda... Normal shit yknow ?) and the point is that Zoro was just born as a totally normal person who just pushed himself so hard that he became one of the best swordsmen in the world and it's just.. It's awesome, yknow? All that he is, he really made it himself and it gets to me.
Edit, more than a year after this post : so turns out I was wrong about that which BOOO, I REFUSE, this is awful and I simply will not acknowledge Zoro being related to anybody important or famous >:( and anyways there's a 99.9% chance of him having literally no idea about that so my point still stands!!

Hey so I rambled for like a million words on Sanji’s and Zoro’s and a little bit of Luffy’s characterisation re: living for the sake of other people vs. yourself inspired by @eastdemons recent very good character analysis so I tucked it behind a read-more to spare you all
(WCI spoilers)
realised/remembered that Sanji as a child went seamlessly from being born to exist for the sake of others (his biological family), to wanting desperately to exist for the sake of others but being rejected and treated as though his very existence were a nuisance no matter how hard he tried, to finally finding a sort of unspoken crude acceptance with the Baratie and Zeff which was conditional (in his own mind) on him existing for their sake instead, that he finally had a target to project his rejected desire to be useful onto, to finally have a reason to exist and a tangible benefit he could point to - “if I weren’t here, then the Baratie wouldn’t run as smoothly, cook so nicely, defend itself so strongly”
and sure, tethering himself to that one floating restaurant meant he could never actually go out and achieve his own dreams but he was used to that, he had already accepted from childhood that his life never belonged to him, that he existed for the sake of others and self-sacrifice was naturally a part of that to the point he didn’t even consider it “sacrifice” any more but rather just the natural order of his birth. Like how you know to queue at the supermarket because that’s what your parents taught you. I don’t know if he ever even would’ve registered on a conscious level that that’s how he thought of himself? You could argue that a lot of the Straw Hats (maybe even all of them, in their own way) believe that sacrificing yourself is "natural” to do when your convictions are on the line, like Luffy’s acceptance of his fate at Loguetown, but Sanji’s is different. The Straw Hats might say, “it’s only natural to risk yourself for what you believe in,” but Sanji believes “it’s only natural that I would sacrifice myself for others.” The others all may have a sort of “put your money where your mouth is” attitude towards self-preservation (even Usopp and Nami), but moreso than any others I think Sanji says “no, the rest of you, sit down. None of you get to sacrifice yourselves, that’s foolish. Only I may die for the drama of it all”
So even at age 19 it’s not until Sanji meets the Straw Hats that he even considers the choice of living his life for himself, based on what he wants, and not what others want or need from him. Like obviously he cared about Zeff and the Baratie and he did genuinely want to see it succeed, but it wasn’t his life’s goal. He was trying to make it his life’s goal but you could see the look on his face when he talked about All Blue and traveling for his own sake. And then a bunch of smelly weird pirates crash into their restaurant and confront him with the idea that “hey, you know, your life belongs to you, and you actually have, you know, CHOICES you can make, and it’s okay for you to prioritise your own goals and live your life the way YOU want to”
You could argue that this is a recurring theme with all the Straw Hats - “personal freedom” is probably one of, if not the most prominent theme in One Piece - where most of the crew has felt like they’ve been held back from living the life they want to lead before joining the Straw Hats. Some were held back by external influences (Nami with the Arlong Pirates and Marines, Robin with the Marines again, Brook by Hogback), some by personal obstacles (Usopp’s struggles with his own cowardice, and fear of leaving the comfort of his seemingly safe village for the risk but allure of the sea). There were other members who were held back by a sense of social obligation, too - Chopper to Dr. Kureha and his memories of Hiluluk, Franky to Galley-La in general, the Franky Family, and his memories of Puffing Tom - but those were also slightly different. Chopper, who was still just a kid, all things considered, needed “permission” from his parental figure to leave home, and Franky, conversely, needed to be sure that his adoptive family-figures would be fine on their own. Sanji and Zeff obviously have a father-son relationship but Sanji didn’t need Zeff’s specific permission or approval, nor did he need reassurance that the Baratie would be okay without him - because he already KNEW he had both those things. Zeff is implied to have been trying to get Sanji to leave for a long time. What Sanji really needed was someone to tell him that he would be okay. That he could exist outside of the construct by which he defined his existence (his usefulness to Zeff and the Baratie). That this was a thing he was allowed to do. That God wouldn’t smite him where he stood if he dared to get out of bed in the morning for his own sake, and not someone else’s. And that came from meeting the Straw Hats - all of them, but Zoro a little bit more, and Luffy most of all.
Of course he still struggles with that even after joining the Straw Hats LMAO and the poor dude has a self-sacrificial streak longer than his legs. But now I’m gonna pivot into talking about how Zoro and Sanji contrast against each other in this exact regard
Of all the Straw Hats, Zoro (and I’m still not 100% up to date with the current Wano happenings so maybe we have more insight into why Zoro is the way he is but I still don’t think it could totally disrupt anything I’m about to say) is the person who is least able to identify with where Sanji is coming from but also somehow, the most?? Because Zoro is a paradox of both living fully and wholly for himself in the moment but also being someone who has dedicated his entire life to living out someone else’s dream. Like, yeah, it’s his dream, too, but it’s been made clear throughout the series that the force behind his terrifying drive is his oath to Kuina, not just his own desire to be the strongest swordsman.
But I’m not sure Zoro sees a distinction there? And I’m not sure it’s even relevant to make the distinction in the first place? Kuina has passed away, so Zoro’s own interpretation of what her dream would’ve been, how to fulfil it, and what their promise to each other means is, essentially, his own free will. Often times in fiction when you see a character living in another character’s memory they basically model themselves around what they think the other person would’ve done, but not Zoro. He doesn’t model his fighting style after Kuina’s (quite the opposite). He doesn’t train how he thinks she would’ve trained. He even went ahead and defined the parameters of their “dream” all on his own - defeating Mihawk (is that how Kuina would’ve defined “becoming the strongest swords[wo]man”?). He is, undeniably, living life however it naturally occurs to him and pursuing whatever he wants to pursue.
But Kuina is still also undeniably a fixture in his life. He still wields her sword (fingers crossed for Wano). He still thinks of her and is still driven by the bond and oath they shared when they were younger, and he still considers her father to be his mentor. He would say that he wants to become the strongest swordsman because it is his dream and also because he’s doing it for Kuina, and they would both be independently true.
And so all of this culminates into Zoro not understanding Sanji’s perspective one tiny little bit, lmao. You’d think he would because on the surface they both live for another person’s sake but when you get deeper into it they’re opposites, as is usually the way with those two. Sanji is someone who presents himself as a “lone wolf”, sort of - the strong, cool, independent “Mr. Prince” who is often separated from the other characters, working on his own. But he’s not. He defines his entire existence by his utility to others and the capacity for his sacrifice to them. That’s why he keeps TRYING to sacrifice himself for others even when it’s pretty unnecessary lmao. And Zoro is someone who readily claims to be living his life for the sake of another person, but then doesn’t give a second thought to how that person might have lived their life. He can live his own life while also living FOR someone else. That’s not a contradiction at all in his mind. Zoro has made it no secret that he would leave the Straw Hats if he had to in order to pursue his own dreams and I genuinely still think he would, as loyal as he is to Luffy (which, btw, Luffy would unequivocably support).
And so it’s why Sanji can’t understand why Zoro would fight against Mihawk knowing that he would lose, because in that moment Zoro was living blisteringly for his own sake and nothing else, because throwing yourself into a fight you KNOW you will lose simply because it’s what you WANT is the culmination of “living your own life”. To Sanji, that makes no sense, because Zoro could still live and be useful to others. Sanji completely understands dying to protect others and so thinks dying because of your own resolutions would be a “waste”. And it’s why Sanji left so easily in WCI, and why Zoro couldn’t/can’t understand that, because to Sanji it made sense in what he still believed to be true in his mind - that he ultimately only existed to be useful to others, and that his brief sojourn with the Straw Hats had been fun, but that leaving them would be inevitable, because it was too “selfish” on his part to dare to live life for himself and that the universe would correct itself eventually. He still thought that it was wrong of him to live his own life. He still, on some level, thought that his life belonged to someone else. And at least, like this, he could save the people he actually cared about (the Straw Hats) along the way, making the best of a foregone conclusion, in his mind. I genuinely think even after everything the SHs went through together it wasn’t until he saw Luffy still waiting for him that it finally clicked in Sanji’s mind that he was the sole owner of his own life and that he had a choice in what he dedicated it to.
Speaking of Luffy, I think he 100% lives his own life for himself only, even more than Zoro - he sacrifices himself for others, but only because he wants to because he personally likes those people, not because he thinks it’s the “right” thing to do - but I also think he deeply understands and appreciates Sanji’s mentality in a way that Zoro doesn’t/can’t. I think Luffy learned from Shanks that the way you act/the things you do have a broader impact on the world around you, and so living life “for yourself” is something you have to do mindfully and consciously of how that will affect other people. And I think he learned about the idea of being expected to live for the purpose of others from Sabo and Ace, and the subsequent rejection of that idea. So he fully embraces the notion of living your life for yourself only, but he does so being aware of the implications that has for the other people in your life.
I don’t know if this makes any sense or if it’s still coherent at this point I have written (checks) almost 2000 words about one piece and I’m a litte embarrassed but you know what I'm just gonna hit ‘publish’ without proof reading thanks for coming to my TED Talk i’m sorry if any of these paragraphs just stopped mid-sentence as I hopped to finish off some other sentence

One Last
Fandom: One Piece
Characters: Tashigi, Zoro, Strawhats
Notes: This story centers on the idea that Tashigi looks like Kuina because she’s basically inhabiting her body - the corpse was reanimated through science. Discovering that she’s basically a zombie, Tashigi attempts to kill herself, only to fail repeatedly due to her excellent design. She is adopted/kidnapped by the strawhats and attempts to deal with her ensuing depression and identity crisis.
First chapter and outline are under the cut.
Roranoa Zoro was having a very bad day. He had gotten lost and had to ask for directions three times in the so far, as he wandered around on the rather uninteresting spring island, where they had docked to resupply. He had been searching for most of the morning, and still hadn’t been successful at locating a good bar that sold drinks for less than the ridiculous prices being charged everywhere he looked. He had run into Luffy twice, who was also short on cash, and looking just as unsuccessfully for cheap food. He had failed to convince Nami that three-hundred percent interest was unfair. He had been forced to knock out a troop of Navy goons and a police-man. He didn’t know what he wanted more: a drink or a nap.
Roranoa Zoro was having a very bad day, and in the course of half a second as he caught sight of a particular face, it got a whole lot worse.
“Hello Zoro,” Tashigi greeted him civilly, if perhaps with a degree of frostiness that he assumed meant she wished she has her sword with her. Her Shigure was nowhere in sight, and she was dressed in a pink and gold sundress that looked like it had been sewn out of an enormous handkerchief. It had one strap over her right shoulder, and came down to either just above or just below her knees, depending on which part of the uneven hemline was being measured.
She was wearing high-heeled strappy sandals much like Nami’s and she looked a lot prettier than he remembered. He blinked hard.
“Hello, Navy girl,” he responded a bit more waspishly than he had intended. She looked at him disconcertingly over the tops of her glasses.
“Are you busy?” she inquired unexpectedly. He shook his head, a bit thrown. She jerked her thumb toward a bar and grill behind her.
“Come and have a drink with me then,” she invited, sounding rather offhand.
“Uh,” he started, unsure what to make of her weird change in character.
“My treat,” she offered, slightly altering the angle of her head and the shape of her eyes until her expression conveyed that she really did want him to have a drink with her.
“Alright then,” he responded guardedly, just as Nami and Robin strode up, arms full of shopping bags from clothing stores.
“Oh hey Zoro!” exclaimed Nami, “come over here and help us carry these!”
“Not now!” he shouted in irritation.
“Oh, are you busy?” Nami all but squealed, noticing Tashigi for the first time, but apparently not recognizing her.
“We were just going for a drink!” Tashigi called to her. “Come join us, if you like. I’m buying.”
Nami did like; free drinks were always categorized under ‘like,’ and Robin brought up the rear as the four of them filed into the restaurant.
To general surprise, the rest of the crew was already seated at a large corner table, Luffy scarfing down snacks like there was no tomorrow, and Sangi flirting with a curly-haired barmaid. Tashigi strode over to them and plopped down in an empty chair, and Zoro, Nami and Robin took their seats as well.
“Hey,” Tashigi called to a man who appeared to be in charge. She handed him a stack of bills and told him to take anything they all ate or drank from that money until it ran out, and then cut them off.
“Whoa, really?” exclaimed Luffy.
“When it’s gone, it’s gone though,” she warned him.
“Hey, thanks lady!” he said with a grin, and after that, there was a scramble of everyone placing orders so they’d get what they wanted before Luffy ate his weight in Tashigi’s gift money. Zoro wasn’t shy about ordering a whole keg; after all, regardless of her motives, he planned on having his much-wanted drink now that he had the opportunity.
Tashigi didn’t seem to mind either, because when they had emptied the keg, she ordered another, and then a third. She, Zoro, Nami and Sangi all got rather tipsy, and Luffy Chopper and Usopp, though drinking soda, were acting equally silly, with chopsticks up Chopper’s nose as per usual, and Sangi trying to get Robin to drink more. Robin, oddly considering she was drinking the same beverage as Tashigi, Zoro, Nami and Sangi, did not seem any different than usual.
“So what’s with the free booze?” Zoro asked, much more warmly now that the party atmosphere had gotten into his blood with the alcohol.
“I didn’t feel like drinkin’ alone,” the naval officer slurred as though it were the most obvious thing in the world, raising her mug a bit shakily to toast.
“And you’re not arresting us because…?” Robin prompted, sipping daintily at her drink.
“I’m on vacation,” Tashigi replied, waving her hand around nonchalantly, “so I don’t have to, and I couldn’t if I wanted to andIdon’twanttosothere! Cheers to the yummy food!”
“Here, here!” bellowed Luffy, Usopp and Sangi, and everything continued as before, with Nami absently counting up what their refreshments cost and wondering just how much Tashigi had forked over if they hadn’t been cut off yet. The only noticeable difference was that Robin suddenly seemed as drunk as any of them, and thus the one party-pooper was now part of the fun.
Time flew by and the sun climbed to its zenith. Nobody asked what their balance was, though really, the money had to run out some time, didn’t it?
Did it?
Luffy was in the middle of stuffing his face when the bartender finally came over looking slightly uncomfortable. He hadn’t even finished speaking when Tashigi whipped out her wallet.
“Another round!” she bellowed, thoroughly soused, and rather shakily threw it, only to have it caught by Zoro.
“Hold up a minute,” he cautioned, his voice not entirely steady either, but apparently more able to hold his liquor than his companion. “Don’t spend every cent!”
“Why not?” she wined, face flushed and mouth firmly pouting. Her glasses were a little askew, and to Zoro’s surprise, he saw that a pin was lose in her hair, letting a long black lock fall down almost to her elbow.
“You have long hair?” he asked, distracted.
“Yup,” she replied, completely forgetting the matter of the money. “A bit bending of the ol’ regulations and all that, but…” her eyes drifted to Luffy and Chopper, who were dancing on the tabletop. “I didn’t see them drink at all,” she mused.
“They don’t need to,” Zoro groused. “Everyone on this crew can act drunk on a moment’s notice without drinking anything stronger than lemonade. Well, except Robin.” The two of them stared as Robin and Nami were trying to make a house of cards out of the menus, laughing madly and building more out of Robin’s hands than anything else.
“Huh,” Tashigi grunted. “Well, I bet no one’s ever bored, at least.” Abruptly she stood, handed the bartender a fat tip.
“Thanks for the grub and booze,” she said amiably, and turned to the pirate crew, who mostly acknowledged her, if perhaps distractedly. After deliberating for a time and starting and stopping a few times to speak, she finally came out with, “Enjoy the rest of the eats,” and swept quickly from the building.
Outline
Chapter 1) Tashigi’s last drink
Chapter 2) Attempted suicide
Tashigi attempts to shoot herself in the head
She wakes up the next morning and thinks she missed; she even finds the hole in her ceiling.
She goes to a seedy potion shop and buys poison.
She drinks the poison and is puking up her guts, but then her body metabolizes it and she’s fine.
Frenzied, she slits her wrists and runs, bleeding, off the edge of a cliff.
Chapter 3) Rescue
Zoro finds her while he’s lost trying to get to the ship. It’s raining so he has Kuina’s funeral on the brain, and he’s really freaked when he finds her in a pool of her own blood. He convinces himself that the only reason he’s so desperate is because of Kuina.
He (with Sangi giving him directions) takes her back to the ship where Chopper looks her over and sees that her wounds are healed. She has a fever though.
She wakes up and doesn’t remember anything besides “I want to die.”
Chapter 4) Waking Up
She bonds with the crew little by little; they all grow attached to amnesia girl.
She can’t get used to being called Tashigi, since it’s not familiar to her. Zoro somehow says “Kuina,” and she likes it a lot, so she decides to name herself that. She does ask his permission though.
A man claiming to be her father comes along and asks her to go home with him. (He is really the creepy doctor who created her.)
Chapter 5) Past
She says she doesn’t want to hurt him by refusing to come with him, but she doesn’t even know him, so she asks if he wants to do dinner or something.
They go out to dinner and Sangi follows them and makes a row in the kitchen.
The doctor eventually gets fed up with her continually suggesting that she stay with the pirates and loses his temper, first shouting at her, then proclaiming her status as his finest creation, his last symphony, his magnum opus…
Sangi senses a damsel in distress from several rooms away and runs to the rescue, followed by Luffy who came to eat and Nami who came to make sure the boys didn’t cause trouble and Chopper and Zoro who came to look after Tashigi and everyone else who just came.
The pirates run the evil doctor off, but Tashigi faints.
She remembers everything.
Chapter 6) Truth
They bring her back to the ship and nobody knows she has her memories back.
She says goodbye to Zoro.
She leaves a note for everyone else.
They search for her but the trail goes cold.
Chapter 7)
Eventually they find her by chance waiting tables in a restaurant, and Zoro chases her.
She tells him everything.
He says his bit about it’s her body now and her life to live and everything.
They come back to the others and Tashigi is welcomed back into the crew.

Coffeshop au vs Fake marriage au vs Lady and Knight au vs Hogwarts au
aWWW man haha a big 4v4 going on,,,Damnnn. Okay okay so I love fake marriage aus man, just fake dating and anything is so good because of all of the pinning oh man it’s perfect. But then again!!! Anything that comes of a Lady & Knight au is just….perfect. All the time. Because you can have starts-off-as-betrayal-turns-into-utter-loyalty, or you can just have starts as loyalty and adventures and dragons and magic and!!! Oh boy just so cool so cool
Lady & Knight AU Headcanons:
For a betrayal au!!! Nam/Tash would be so good because you have royal lady Nami who’s adopted by Arlong and raised to be a selling point, basically, she always knew she was just going to get married off once she stopped being useful, so she decides to sell the whole kingdom out.
Except when Arlong sends her capital she gets assigned this super-fucking-cute personal guard and she’s like shit I’m too gay for this. And Tashigi is at first a bit standoffish ‘cause she’s like that with everyone but just??? They end up being friends??? And Nami’s plan to betray the kingdom and go back to her rightful home starts falling to the wayside because she doesn’t want to betray Tashigi??
And Tashigi loves this place, loves the kingdom and capital and every person in it, and always helps out in town whenever Nami decides she wants to go out and just.
God kill me okay I am 100% here for Nami seeing cruelty in everyone but Tashigi is just so-
Good. So heroic and kind and strong and Nami’s always been weak for loyalty ‘cause she’s never had it
Nami ends up confessing her plans to Tashigi but then saying she knew how to fix it and didn’t want to go through with it and Tashigi kiiiind of doesn’t believe her??? And she turns standoffish again and so cold, but she promises not to tell anyone, and Nami’s like fuck I gotta get her trust back i miss her so much—
And so Nami ends up twisting her plans and making it look like Arlong was blackmailing her and that it was his plans, ‘cause he wasn’t popular at court, and basically does this super clever coup and takes over his whole enterouge and deposing him as duke (or whatever tf he would be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
And arlong finds out that she betrayed him and so sends people to kill her but then Tashigi busts in and totally does awesome sword fighting and saves her life and they talk it over and be honest and just. Happily ever after ;u;
And for the loyal af I’m gonna do Robin and Koala ‘cause it’s just so flippin’ cute
There was a coup when Robin was younger and the whole royal family was murdered but lil!Koala helped her sneak away and worked in the kitchens and gave information to the rebels, and she was so young, but so strong, and helped the rebellion take back Robin’s kingdom, and so in return Robin asked her what she wanted and Koala said that all she wanted was to be able to protect Robin. (Cue flustered and barely hiding it Robin, and utterly oblivious young koala)
Robin as this elegant and poised and utterly (literally) magical lady and Koala’s been head over heels for her for the longest time, ever since she was a page and saw Robin (as a teen) with her head held high and her voice so calm and strong as she dismissed warriors to help fight bandits and take care of her kingdom.
Before Robin’s coronation she’s meant to visit every single village and know the people and work with her land so she can understand what they live like and go through but Koala’s super worried because even though Robin is a powerful witch there’s still ways to get her and begs to accompany her
And Robin acquiesces (and is actually secretly super happy that Koala still cares enough to want to protect her, because a lot of other people see her as scary and cold and strange and she doesn’t mind, but sometimes it gets lonely)
Koala totally braids Robin’s hair at one point!!!! Because it was getting in the way and Robin was getting annoyed!!! And then agrees to do it for the rest of the trip!!!! And she dies inside because Robin is so beautiful and she loves her so fucking much!!!!!!
God okay kill me
They end up camping together on the road and it’s basically just domesticity and protecting each other and taking care of each other and Robin confides softly some of her fears of being queen and koala almost half-confesses that she’s worried one day they’ll be things she can’t protect anyone from
Their first kiss is totally in a waterfall.
I don’t know why that thought occured to me but now that it has I can’t let it go
They get attacked by bandits and Koala fights them all off but ends up getting injured. And so they camp by this waterfall that opens into this really lovely cave system that’s lit by shards of glowing blue and purple crystal that Robin found ‘cause it’d help her healing magic (which she isn’t suuuuuper good at, ‘cause healing magic is innate and Robin is more of a learned witch, and has heaps of memorised spells, but isn’t good at just shoving raw power at a thing).
And in the soft glow of these crystals and she’s patching up Koala’s side she just…..Ends up tugging Koala’s chin and pressing a kiss to her lips and Koala’s like lajkhdgj holy FUCK
And she tries to kiss back properly but then ends up wincing and going all ow ow ow fuck that hurt
And Robin laughs and Koala’s like aw come on that’s not my fault. And basically ends up saying something about how she’s wanted to do that for ages is it her fault that she wants more than just one kiss???
And Robin’s like woah. excuse me, wait, what.
And Koala starts blushing furiously and gets super flustered and is spluttering and trying to explain and Robin just thinks it over while she’s spluttering and is like “So you…have loved me? For a long time?”
And Koala just ends up nodding kind of guilty but then Robin smiles at her and Koala’s fucking wrecked and Robin just says “Good,” and kisses her again!!!
And no misunderstandings occur and they keep travelling around just this time with  kisses and more affection and Koala not feeling careful around what she’s allowed to do, ‘cause before she didn’t feel like she could / should touch Robin and now finds out Robin fucking loves all the attention Koala gives her
GOD IT’S SO CUTE!!!!
And when they get back and Robin is crowned it’s basically a fact that Koala is the kingdom’s other queen and when people on Robin’s council complain and says she needs to get married ‘cause she shouldn’t be queen without a king she just laughs in their face.
She’s not 100% comfortable with being a mom, because she doesn’t remember much about her mom, ‘cause she died when Robin was so young and she was always so busy with being Queen, but Koala would love a kid, and she needs an heir….
(Little does she know that she’s already accidentally adopted all of the orphaned children in the castle, who she visits regularly and tells wonderful stories about the adventures she and Koala had and supports and helps with jobs and teaching and she gives them books and like okay these like 10 kids all see her and Koala as their moms)
But she needs a biological kid apparently (she’s contemplated firing this council, they’re fucking dumbasses) so she makes a kid and the kid has magic and there’s dorky magical shenanigans as she tries to get used to the fact that someone calls her mother and means it and Koala’s like Robin, pls, you’ve been looking after the castle kids for years why is this weird???
But it’s mine, Robin goes, frazzled, and Koala laughs quietly and soothes her with kisses and they raise this kickass kid and she and Koala live happily ever after. The end!!!!!
Fake Marriage AU Headcanons:
Uhh man tbqh I love fake dating more than I like fake marriages???? Idk why but it proooobably has something to do with my dislike of marriage and the fact that people use it like it’s an end-all-be-all and a solution to every problem imeanwhat???im not cynical
anyway!! I’m a drip for zolu and I haven’t written it for ages, so;
Zoro runs this lowkey but really strong dojo along with his sister Kuina and they compete a lot in fights, but are confined to the stupid gender bullshit ‘cause Kuina’s dad won’t let her fight any guys. Kuina’s already the strongest female swordsman in the world, and demands that Zoro become the strongest man so they can have a fight and so who’s actually better, and who’s the strongest full stop.
But Zoro can’t beat mihawk. It’s annoying as fuck for him, especially when Mihawk constantly keeps asking when Zoro will find something stronger than his ambitions, when he’ll find something worth fighting for.
One day he finally snaps and points at Luffy, who’s the brother of a friend of a student that attends Kuina’s self defence class and goes,
“I’M FIGHTING FOR MY FIANCE YOU ASSHOLE”
Luffy’s like wtf. Mihawk’s like ah. Well then. i shall leave you to spend time with your fiance, ‘cause you obviously don’t know well enough what i mean.
luffy’s still like what the fuck. Mihawk leaves while Zoro’s yelling at him, and then he whirls on Luffy and Luffy’s like akjhjdg dude why are you glaring at me
Then Kuina busts in and is like YOU HAVE A FIANCE?????
And Koala and Sabo are on her heels and Sabo’s like luffy how the hell did you keep this a secret!!! You’re a shit liar!!!
I- Wha- huh????? goes luffy, and Zoro’s like yep. He is. Fucking shit liar. It was meant to be a surprise but i got so angry at mihawk
WHO THE HELL ARE YOU demands sabo
my. fiance?????? luffy goes’cause he’s confused as all hells, bUT SABO THINKS HE’S CONFUSED AT SABO FOR NOT REALISING IT
There’s a lot of yelling. So much yelling. Luffy has no idea what’s going on. Zoro ends up dragging him away before they leave and kind of explains what’s going on - his rival says he needed something worth fighting for, and movies always say love makes you stronger (”only the cheesy ones,” luffy mumbles, but shuts up when Zoro glares at him, daring him to make another comment)
Luffy doesnt end up agreeing persay, but he doesnt say no either, and so they have to handle the inquisition in the form of friends and family and then find out a lot of the people they know know each other??? and it’s only weird luck they haven’t met before then??? So they just claim that they had met before then, and it’s ridiculous and dorky and they have to answer plans about marriage and where their rings are, and zoro says he didn’t want luffy to loose his and that he was always working and fighting and so they’d agreed not to get rings and
GOD GUYS IT’S A GOOD OL’ CLUSTERFUCK
They end up going on dates where they try and get everything sorted and what they know about each other and luffy keeps making zoro laugh (which is annoying, fucking hell luffy, you’re a dumbass, zoro thinks with a roll of his eyes, but can’t deny that…weirdly enough luffy makes him really happy)
and once their friends know they’re getting married, they get shoved together a lot too, and so they go from not knowing each other very well to just learning so much about each other’s likes and dislikes and they get along really well????? like wtf it’s so weird????/ they just fit. Once Zoro stop acting so put-upon ofc tho (luffy yells at him, and tells him that it was zoro’s fault in the first place that they were stuck in this mess, so how could he get off on being so high and mighty all the time??? and zoro stops acting like a dick)
And their friends are just like oooohhh yeah i can see why you want to marry him now and zoro’s like laskhdgf fucking hell you guys you’re so thick, god i cant believe this is working he thinks as he texts back like 30 seconds after luffy replies, and smiles fondly at all the spelling mistakes and emojis he recieves in return
Finds out that Sabo gives Koala a lift to her self-defence classes and sometimes joins in as a demonstrator for them to practice on and Luffy doesn’t have anyone at home and he gets bored and lonely by himself so he comes along but is banned from the classroom and so Zoro starts teaching luffy how to fight and finds out that Luffy’s actually a good fighter but his basics are off
You know that trope where the characters stand super close to correct each other’s techniques???
Yep.
yep.
Zoro you loser.
And Zoro finds that his fighting has improved as well, ‘cause Luffy’s so wild and unpredictable and he needed a refresher on the basics too.
And one time when they’re sparing Luffy manages to pin him and crows in delight and victory and is sweaty and grins down at him and Zoro’s like
Oh shit.
Oh sweet fucking shit.
SHIT
Welcome to Feelings Town tm, population: one utterly in love Roronoa Zoro who didn’t realise until it was TO FUCKING LATE
the “wedding” date they’d organised dawns nearer (Zoro tried to keep it as small and cheap as possible, ‘cause they’d planned for luffy to leave him at the altar (no way was zoro doing the leaving, everyone would kill him. Luffy is everyone’s sunshine) but luffy has so many fucking friends) and Mihawk agrees to fight zoro before they go on their “honeymoon” and there’s a bunch of people there cheering zoro on and it’s all these friends that he’s made/grown closer  to thanks to Luffy and then just about when he thinks he’s gonna loose there’s luffy, fists clenched, fire alight in his eyes, urging him on, and Zoro’s like fuck
fuck I want to make him proud. i don’t want to see him disappointed. I want to best mihawk and go get fucking married and go on our stupid honeymoon and be
happy
because that’s how he’s felt. He’s felt happy with Luffy. He’s felt so happy with Luffy.
Kicks mihawk’s ass and drops his sword into Kuina’s hands and bypasses everyone else to wear Luffy is standing and grinning and there’s stars in his eyes and Zoro basically just picks him up and like they’re reading each other’s minds Luffy just leans in and kisses him
It’s fucking perfect.
Zoro’s sweaty and hot and his blood still sings from the fight and it’s rushing in his ears but all he can feel and hear and see is Luffy
And it’s perfect.
From behind him, Mihawk mumbles, “So you’ve finally found something stronger than ambition.”
Zoro pulls away and leans his forehead against luffy’s and replies, “Don’t go all cheesy family movie on me now, Mihawk.”
and Luffy laughs and they kiss again and its!!!! so cheesy!!! so cute!!! so good!!!
And they end up putting the marriage off for a bit and dating for a few years but everyone still calls them fiances / the old married couple and one day when they’re sprawled on the couch Zoro just turns to luffy and goes,
“Hey, do you want to finally actually get married?”
And luffy grins and zoro rolls his eyes and he’s like “yes i get that we practically already are, but I-”
“want to buy you a ring. And that stupid stuff. Alright?”
“Alright,” Luffy goes, still grinning super super wide, “but you might wanna put it on a necklace or smth ‘cause you know im gonna lose it.”
Zoro groans and is like dont i know it. half of our yearly pay’s gonna go to replace ur wedding ring.
and just!!! laughter and happiness and happily ever after. The end!!!!

Okay but imagine that one day, Kuina is like, chilling by the pool, watching Niragi yip and bark at Chishiya from afar when Arisu, looking really embarrassed and twisting his fingers together, approaches her.
Her first thought is “Oh God, please don’t confess to me, I don’t know how to let you down gently.”
He stops in front of her looking like a trembling, fumbling mess and to her surprise, quietly asks if she has some menstrual pads he can borrow.
For a split second she thinks he’s making some gross, transphobic joke. But this is Arisu. Known shy soft boy Arisu, and he’s fiddling with his fingers in that way that Usagi always tells her he does when he’s nervous.
“ Does Usagi need some?”
She asks, because Arisu looks like the kind of gentleman that would go on a tampon hunt for her, but Arisu shakes his head, looking a little frustrated.
“She doesn’t need any.”
He looks at her, almost as if willing her to get some psychic message he’s sending, she scans him, top to bottom, trying to catch a clue, the same way Chishiya had tried to teach her how to. He’s wearing his usual loose T-shirt and dark, almost black shorts, his face looks a little puffy and...
Oh.
He seems to understand immediately when she figures it out, because his shoulders tense and he presses his lips nervously.
“ Usagi doesn’t have any you can borrow?”
She asks, because it feels kinda wrong, that he had to tell her because of something like that.
“ She uses a cup. She offered me an extra one but I didn’t want anything *inside*...”
He shudders, and Kuina understands.
“ I’m sorry, I don’t have any. I don’t really need them.”
She tells him with a pointed look, and he immediately understands because there’s a flash in his eyes and his entire body relaxes.
Kuina has always liked Arisu, but now she kinds feels like she’s adopted him.
“ I’m sure Ann has some. Let’s go ask her together.”
She holds his hand, and purposefully ignores the look Chishiya sends her. Arisu’s lips curl into a small smile and let’s her pull him to Ann’s lab.
(Ann doesn’t even blink when they ask her for pads, she just silently walks over to a cabinet and opens it revealing shelves and shelves of menstrual products, she gives the directly to Arisu and promptly kicks them out of her lab, telling them to only come back for either more pads of if they wanted to help her cut open some bodies)

Okay so, imagine that there’s this big event coming up, like an awards show for games and animation, and the game that Arisu and Niragi did together with their company gets a nomination, so they all have to dress up for this big party, and there’s gonna be cameras and interviews and is a whole thing okay?
And gender nonconformist Arisu got really excited for the chance to dress up, so he goes to Kuina, and they pic this dress, and she teaches him how to do some makeup and he tries it on and feels so pretty and soft and all those good feelings.
But as the event approaches, he starts to feel anxious, because, what if people laugh at him? What if he looks ugly. He’s tall and lanky and has broader shoulders than he’d like, and all of a sudden he doesn’t feel as pretty in the dress as before.
He tells that to his roommate, Usagi, who’s gonna be his date for the event, and she goes all quiet and pensive.
So when the night finally arrives, and Arisu does get all dolled up, and he’s anxiously waiting for Usagi to get ready (she had gotten a pretty peach dress for herself), and he’s having all this self doubt.
And then Usagi walks in wearing a sleek black suit with a deep blue tie, and her hair slicked back, wearing heels that make her almost as tall as him. And he starts to tear up, and she goes “Oh shit don’t cry, you spent half an hour on your makeup!”.
And she goes out of the way to make him feel good, she opens all the doors for him, drives them to the venue, pulls his chair for him to sit down, and spends the whole night showing him off. By the time Niragi and him win the award, he’s already radieant and glowing on the stage.
(Some bigot actually tries shit talking them, but between Kuina, Karube, Chishiya, Aguni and Niragi, the guy has to be taken off the party via ambulance)

Kuina helps Arisu explore more feminine things that his father never allowed him near. This is how he shows up to his first date. (With Chishiya? Niragi? Usagi? You decide)
ALSO
I HAVE THIS ARISU FACE I DREW, TELL ME WHAT ELSE SHOULD I PUT ON HIM.
