Baguio : The "Coolest" Place in the Philippines.

                Baguio, elevating 1,500m above sea level, at an elevation this high, you will definitely feel the breeze gliding on your skin making your shiver.

 Many of us has been to Baguio for at least one point in our lives, and for me, I mean, my 10-year-old me, it was my first time.

                After knowing that we will go to Baguio for summer, I was excited, because all of the things I have hear about this place was, “sobrang lamig dito, parang ayoko na umuwi”. So the little me cant wait to find out what’s really there, if its really “malamig” or its just a placebo effect that if you are in baguio you’re the one of the coolest person in the country, literally.

                So, the time has come and it’s the day that we go the city, I woke up at 2 am, bags already packed, heck I even slept with my clothes that I will wear for tomorrow beside my bed. I was really excited, to come and see the beautiful views of mines view, the elegant, and the classy “The Mansion”, and of course the popular night market at the Harrison Road just shy of Session Road. It is a place where both kids and adults will be happy whatever the city offer. The rental bikes you can rent with your family and friends, the swans on the pond, and the horses that you can ride. For me, the moment I stepped out of the bus it was the horses that greeted me a welcome to their beloved city, I was so happy, probably because that  was my first time seeing an actual horse in flesh. Happy and excited, the little me was running out of joy at the park yelling, but of course only in my mind “sa Wakas naka rating na din ako sa baguio”. After an hour of exploring and appreciating the beauty of the city we finally went to our transient and that’s when it all sunk in, “damn, Ill literally be in this city for a week, that’s so cool”. Little me was so excited thinking what are the many things that my family and I will do for tomorrow, lying down on my bed, thinking, just thinking, until my eyes unconsciously closed, and I fell asleep.                 The next time I opened my eyes, its morning my family and relatives were already packing and getting ready for the first day of our tour, after I saw them, I quickly stood up and took a bath, even though it’s so cold as a Pinoy-cultured kid, I. have. To. Take. A. Bath       

                Our first stop, Minesview Park, this place is unreal, the views on the Observation deck is breath-taking, while looking at the superb view I ate a delicacy called “sundot kulangot” in Tagalog, it literally means picking a booger from the inside of your nose. Ew, but as much as it sounds disgusting the taste of this food was so sweet and yummy, I really enjoyed eating the sweet candy while looking at the sweetest view in the whole city.

                I won’t be telling the whole tour in detail because it would take days for me to express it, like, 1 day for a day in Baguio? That would be insane!

                There I also a day where we visited The Mansion, and since its only a walking-distance from our transient, you guessed it, we walked, inside the vicinity, a lot of people walking, some are towards the mansion, and some away, and in the middle of them, is a body of water and is probably a man-made river this sets a cool ambiance to the place that helps The Mansion be more elegant and dreamy.

                Last day was different, I mean commonly last day is the day where you so called “sulit” your time because those are the very last minutes of your tour, but us, we just stayed in our transient, rested, but for me, it was sort of experiencing to actually live in baguio, because of course the locals don’t tour everyday so this final day for us was like, how does it feel to be a baguio local-resident? Is it more relaxing than living in the suburbs of manila? So, in our last day we lived like locals and stayed in our house, watching tv, chilling near the chimney, and me, as a “videogame-addict” I went outside with my dad and looked for a computer shop nearby. And we found one, so I rented 1 hour to play, and this was one of the times that I said to myself “gusto ko tumira dito”. To experience living in a place much more cooler than manila is different, like everything is different. The air is so much fresher and cooler. But sadly, we had to leave the city and go back to reality.

                For me, that tour was very fun and memorable, I mean its my first time right? First for me is always the most memorable. And although I love Baguio so much, I just cant forget the place where I lived and grew up, yes other places might be cooler, and more beautiful, the place where we  grew up always has a special  place in our hearts, and that’s the reason it’s called “HOME” there’s nothing like it, as much as Baguio is relaxing, the feeling of resting in your own home  is unbeatable, that’s when you feel that you are really resting.

                I won’t forget Baguio, it still probably one of my favourite places that I visited. But as much as I love home, I can’t wait to go back, and I will go back to… Baguio: The “Coolest Place in the Philippines.

"And don't worry about if a place is dangerous or not. We're not just immortal, we're much more slippery and elusive than we look."

Cogsworth paused in thought.  It didn’t sound like “Kwasan” was with them.  Forte probably reabsorbed his snake avatar to make him less easy to find.  Cogsworth honestly could have predicted that.  Forte wasn’t stupid.

“I know why he’s asking~!”

Antoine let himself into the conversation, shit-eating grin on his face as he spoke in a sing-song tone.  Although he was shortly humbled when Cogsworth shot him a stern look from the corner of his eye.

life updates; december 26, 2021

finally had time to sit down and talk about whats about to happen next month; im pretty nervous but at the same time, im glad its finally going to happen after years of just living with the worst allergy symptoms ever

remember that post where i said na sobrang pagod na ko and i just really want to rest kasi nga ever since december started, my mind has been in holiday mode ever since?

well, the world really said "ask and you shall receive bitch" kasi the same day i posted that, i found out na my polips' condition is really really really bad already and i need to get it take out asap; to cut to the chase, ever since i was around 9 years old, i suddenly developed this polips inside my nose (basically para siyang excess skin/bukol), specifically somewhere in my right nostril and its the main reason why i have the worst allergy attacks ever

dapat before pa talaga namin tatanggalin pero siguro since that was so many years ago when technology wasnt as advanced as it is now, the doctor who found out about my polips advised against surgery and idaan nalang daw muna namin through meds

fast forwards to my recent allergy attack, same shit, couldnt breathe at all, as in barado talaga ilong ko, the usual symptoms, pero after the snot disappeared, i suddenly felt this itchy sensation sa right nostril ko, kumbaga in lay mans term parang may kulangot na hindi ko matanggal

lo and behold, when we got my nose checked, nagsusugat na pala yung polips and i dont want to go into heavy details on how it looks but it looked really really bad

so after that day, i had to go get a ct scan, have my heart, lungs, and blood checked to see if im fit to have surgery and thankfully okay naman lahat which means by january (which is literally next month) i will be undergoing major surgery not only to remove my polips but to also have my nose aligned kasi apparently nakapaling yung isang bone sa nose ko making it more difficult for me to breathe on one side compared to the other

so yeah, with all of this suddenly being my priority, work has been giving me so much stress in return kasi im gonna be gone for atleast 2 weeks starting next month and i cant work on anything kasi nga ill be undergoing surgery and recovering so that means i have to squeeze in as much work as i can next week before i file for leave

add the fact na nagturnover na yung senior ko ng projects niya to me means na i have even more work to handle and its all just a blur and to be honest im just taking it one day at a time right now (even though my overthinking ass cannot handle eveything already)

but moral of the story is: health comes first. always. i was glad too to know na my boss was more than happy to let me file for leave for that long right after our long christmas "break" (may quotation marks yan kasi nagtatrabaho parin naman ako kahit break sksks) kasi nga its urgent eh; if i delay having this thing removed from my nose, im just gonna keep getting sick, plus with the weather about to change is 2-3 months time again, im pretty sure allergy season is nearing as well

Ang Baguio City ay isa sa pinaka kilalang lugar at tourist spot sa Pilipinas. Ito rin ay kilala bilang "Summer Capital of the Philippines". Ito ay mayroong malamig na klima na napakasarap sa pakiramdam. Mayroon ding iba't ibang pagkain na pwede mong kainin sa lugar na ito. Marami ring iba't ibang lugar na maari mong puntahan at pasyalan na pwedeng gumawa ng mga aktibidad na mas makapagdulot ng kasiyahan sa mga taong pumupunta rito. Mayaman din sa kasaysayan at kultura ang Baguio City, malawak at maraming mga pananim na gulay din ang matatagpuan dito.

Ang taho ay isa sa aking paboritong pagkain tuwing umaga. Masarap ito lalo na kapag ito ay mainit. Bagay na bagay ito sa klima na mayroon ang Baguio City. Ang taho rito ay di karaniwang taho na makikita mo na arnibal at sago lang, ang taho sa Baguio ay strawberry flavor na kilalang-kilala sa lugar na ito.

Isa sa kilalang kilalang produkto ng Baguio City ay ang strawberry. Sariwa at manamis-namis ang mga strawberry sa lugar na ito. Maari ring ikaw mismo ang pumitas ng mga ito at mamili ng kukuhanin na mga strawberry.

Sa Baguio City kahit na ito ay mayroong malamig na klima hindi pa rin mawawala ang Strawberry Ice cream. Sakto ang timpla ng bawat pagkain sa lugar na ito. Karamihan sa mga pumupunta sa lugar na ito ay mahilig sa sorbetes na kahit malamig na ay gusto pa rin nilang kumakain ng sorbetes. Isa sa kilalang pagkain ng mga pinoy ang pagkain ng sorbetes

SUNDOT KULANGOT

Ang Sundot Kulangot ay isang uri ng kalamay na gawa sa coconut milk, brown sugar at glutinous rice na gawa sa Baguio City. Ito ang pinakamaliit na kilalang tradisyunal na binalot ng kalamay. Ito ay nakalagay sa maliit na klase ng coconut shell. Ginagamitan itong daliri o ng stick sa pagkain nito.

BURNHAM PARK

Ang Burnham Park ay isa sa pinaka kilalang lugar na maari mong puntahan sa Baguio City. Ipinangalan ito sa gumawa nito na si Daniel Burnham na isang Amerikano. Dito kadalasan nagpupunta ang buong pamilya upang magpicnic o kaya kumuha ng mga litrato. Napapaligiran ito ng iba't ibang halaman, puno at mga bulaklak kung kaya't napakasarap sa pakiramdam kapag nandito ka. Ito rin ay napapaligiran ng mga pagkainan na maari mong kainan kapag ikaw ay dinalaw ng gutom.

MINES VIEW

Ang Mines View ay isa sa paboritong kong lugar dahil sa mataas na lugar at sariwang hangin na malalanghap mo. Napakasarap at payapa ang lugar na ito dahil ito ay mataas at kapag tumingin ka sa ibaba nito ay makikita mo ang abandonadong minahan ng ginto at tanso ng mga Itogon. Marami ka ring makikitang mga tindahan na maaari mong pagbilhan ng mga subenir at mga pang pasalubong. Matatanaw mo rin dito ang mga bundok na mayroon ang Cordillera. Masarap sumigaw at isigaw lahat ng problema mo sa lugar na ito dahil parang isinisigaw mo ito sa kawalan at walang may pakialam.

MANSION HOUSE

Ang Mansion House ang isa sa pinaka binabantayang lugar sa Baguio City. Makikita mo rito ang mga sundalo na nagmamartsa paikot sa lugar para bantayan ang lugar na ito. Napapalibutan ito ng mga puno, halaman at mga bulaklak. Mayroong iba't ibang sundalo na nagbabantay at nagpapalitan sa pagbabantay sa lugar.

LA TRINIDAD STRAWBERRY FARM

Ang La Trinidad Strawberry Farm ay isang lungsod sa La Trinidad, Benguet na ginawa upang pagtamnan ng mga strawberries. Malawak at malaki ang lugar na ito na tinataniman ng mga strawberries. Sa lugar na ito ay maaring ikaw mismo ang pumitas ng sarili mong mga strawberry na bibilhin at ipamimigay na pasalubong. Sariwa at magaganda ang tubo ng mga strawberry dahil sa magandang klima sa lugar ng Benguet.

Sa Wright Park ay dito mo matatagpuan ang mga makukulay na bulaklak at napakaraming pine trees. Maari ka ring makapagrelax sa lugar na ito dahil sa ganda ng mga tanawin. Maari ka ring sumakay sa mga kabayo na makikita mo sa lugar na ito.

Hmm... let’s see... di ako masyadong nakapaglibot sa Baguio nung last day ng leadership training seminar namin nung high school (nahilo ako + stuck up sa loob ng school bus malapit ata sa Mines View Park...? I forgot—)...

So, kung ililibre ako ni Kenma sa Baguio (as a—siiiiiiigh—friend), hmm... papabili ako ng: strawberries, tupig (kung meron din nagtitinda ng ganun sa Baguio), sundot-kulangot, choco flakes, strawberry taho(!!!!!!)... yeah ^^;; no thanks kay Barrel Man, bigay na lang niya kay Lev yun 😂
