Now I know they were constrained because of Covid but I think my perfect Supernatural ending would be a sight flash forward, with a camera tracking through the bunker, bustling with hunters coming and going.

We start by finding Sam standing at the big map table back in his season 14 premier role as mission control dispatching hunters on jobs, but this time he's got a baby strapped to his chest. Eileen comes in, covered in a bit of blood spatter clearly just back from a hunt, and she gives like a quick kiss to the baby and to Sam.

The camera continues tracking showing Garth in the library with Claire and Patience, deeply embroiled in some sort of research/story exchange trying to one up each other. We continue on through the halls, alternate Bobby and Charlie walking past geared up for a hunt, down past the kitchen where Donna and Jody are standing round the counter drinking coffee and laughing. We keep continuing through the space seeing all these hunters gathered in this home base, laughing and living and bonding

And then we go down to the basement, where we find Dean. We see him only from the back; alone, on his knees, facing a wall that's been covered in some sort of sigils. He's murmuring quietly, clearly in the middle of some sort of incantation, and we have arrived just as he finishes with a flourish of sparks and smoke from the bowl at his knees. We then cut round to show a centered close-up of his face as he stares forward, a worried look on his face, watching the wall. It holds on this tight close up, hanging on his expression as he waits in trepidation. Then suddenly his face is lit by a bright glow, and we see his expression crack into a teary smile as we hear Castiel's voice say "Hello Dean".

And cut to black

Oh LOTS of them. Literally hundreds. And the list varies depending on where you live.

This is where I recommend looking up the physical properties of any plant you intend to burn. Check for toxic properties if inhaled or ingested, or potential irritants. Common ones I'd avoid burning are things like cinnamon, chili peppers, and anything with "poison" or "deadly" right there in the name. Always double-check a plant's biological properties before using it in your magical workings to avoid allergic reactions or accidental poisoning through ingestion, inhalation, or touch.

And it's important to remember that ANYTHING can be toxic if you burn enough of it in an enclosed space without proper ventilation. So make sure you're either opening a window and turning on a fan or doing your fire magic outdoors, and always have an extinguishing method to hand.

whenever i'm watching something i try to watch it with like 'hetero-showrunner glasses' on to make sure i'm understanding their intent without my own queer-self putting in the layers of (perfectly valid) subtext. most of the time it means when i watch a popular slash ship i can enjoy it, but totally see how it was unintentional on the part of the cishetero male showrunners. call it a millennial queer-bate survival instinct, but it means i can enjoy my ships without getting my hope up

Two years ago, I decided to completely stop purchasing books by white authors. I definitely have a preference for East Asian (especially Chinese) and indigenous authors. I'm currently expanding it to include S/SE Asian and African/Black authors.

Books I haven't read yet: The Poppy War, Never Whistle at Night, Moonstorm, Of Jade and Dragons, The Girl with No Reflection, Fathomfolk, The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi, The Night Ends with Fire, and the Emperor of the Endless Palace.

Books I'll be getting soon: A Bright Heart by Kate Chenli, Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, and The Ballad of Jacquotte Delahey by Briony Cameron

Update: I finished reading A Bright Heart, Of Jade and Dragons, and The Night Ends with Fire, along with a few others that I didn't describe in the last paragraph. I'm currently halfway through Fathomfolk.

PS: I wasn't aware Shannon Chakraborty was white when I bought the book, but my book shelf is also lacking Muslim representation
