Hello it me. As I wait for the next semester, I have decided to pick up on my French again! This time I have started a language journal, and also have three sources — Duolingo for speaking, YouTube for grammar and vocab, and LingoDeer for review.
I'm planning to be as consistent as possible — because I have a lot of emergency trips to my hometown in the next few days, I'm not sure if I will be able to attend the first few classes of the upcoming semester. But hopefully, I'm not too behind.
I'm recovering from my terrible pain days. I'm a little bummed that we're travelling again before I can recover fully, but hey life isn't fair. I need to try and get as much rest as possible.

You can become fluent in a language without living somewhere that it's spoken widely. You can immerse yourself if you make the choice and put in the work. Do not give up. Fluency is attainable, and not just for people with some sort of natural gift. Find things made in the language, things that are better in that language, things that are only available in that language, and love them with your whole heart. You will become fluent.

I understand that literature nerd Jason Todd is kind of overblown in fanon compared to it's actual presence in canon (a few issues during his pre (and post?)crisis Robin tenure that highlight it) BUT consider that I think it's hilarious if the unhinged gun toting criminal has strong opinions on poetry

2.18.2024 — 오늘 제 여동생의 방에서 공부해요. 저는 너무 바빠. Besides the chapter quiz, which should really only take 십오 minutes or less, I’m literally taking the day off of work and studying to run errands and clean. 근데, 저는 책상을 샀어요. I’m sort of excited, mostly to decorate my space. It’s pretty small, but I’ll make it my own. Midterms are this week along with normal course work, so here we go!

Progress, as of now.
I've made progress with Arabic! I've made progress with forming sentences with somewhat accurate grammar involving the pronoun 'i' but still struggle with forming sentences in the present continuous tense and 3rd person perspective. I also struggle with pronouncing the letter 'ض'. I can type now too :)
My GPA has reduced though, like by 10%. Previously my GPA was a 65% and now it's a whopping 56% and that's pretty disappointing coming from me. My teachers were so disappointed and the worse part is my self disappointment was greater! But hey, just because I'm struggling doesn't mean I'm failing, right? I have another exam this month so I'm sure I'll be able to do better!
I've also started going to many places like the cat cafe and the local library. I've never been to a local library back in india cuz they were always far from home, now that I moved to Dubai, by GOSH I LOVE HOW ACCESSIBLE IT IS!
Till then, see ya!

20.02.2023 • day 5 of my language learning challenge:
-> how do you improve or practice your speaking skills?
by listening and repeating! being in germany and hearing locals speak helped me a lot. right now even though my vocabulary is limited, i can read german well :] also the german course i attended three years ago was very helpful because i could communicate with people of my language level.

The last time I studied Korean was a year ago, and I feel like need to refresh my memory of 한글. Maybe I should make this my proper hobby aside from work? I'll probably move to the city next year, so maybe I could look for proper Korean lessons.

Things I've Said While Teaching Toddlers
Toddlers are absolutely wild and I love them so much.
Stop chewing on the shoe. It isn't even yours!
Stop sticking your fingers in someone else's mouth! You can't be surprised if someone bites you if you do.
Look. If I have to wear pants, you have to wear pants, so let's just suffer together, ok? [said during a diaper change when the child kept trying to take off their pants]
The only chalk we eat is Tums and Smarties, so get that out of your mouth.
Are you smart? Yes, you're smart. Are you kind? Yes, you're kind. Are you loved? Yes, you're loved. Are you able? Yes, you're able.
Where are your shoes? Where are your socks???
Get off the table!
Get out from under the table! Seriously??
Bubba. Little love. Sweet child. You simply cannot put broccoli in your milk. Yucky.

People always tell you that when you're learning a language that you need to speak to people in it, and that is true; you will improve so much faster when you talk to native speakers. However, it's also important to remember that you can speak it by yourself too. Narrate your daily tasks. Play a videogame in your target language and when you yell at the TV in frustration, do it in that language! Write in your journal in your target language. Mentally plan your day in your target language. Have conversations with yourself, imagining you're being interviewed. Do you mutter to yourself? Well, now you mutter bilingually!

4.17.2024 — I always used to get told off for studying without the lights on when I was younger. Now I’m an adult and can do want I want. One of the little joys in my life is studying or working in a dim room with a candle lit. Whoever said it’s the little things was right. 🕯☕️
