i think there was a comparison of tcf and tged here but atleast in tged og lloyd's parents still notice their son is not their actual son, unlike cale's family who were glad he just simply become non trash (this was the most upsetting when i read here that arcos and marbella noticed but cale's did not or even the butlers), a non family member didn't wish or say that it was great that og lloyd was replaced by someone else even if that someone is more helpful to the county, unlike alberu who was glad that cale got replaced, and another atleast suho plans to tell the truth to lloyd's parents unlike with rok soo to cale's parents who accepted he is cale (but then again og cale did request to accept the body they are in as who they are actually are)

i have no idea how fair it is to compare tged to tcf, they're two different pieces of media with their own themes, plots and characters going on and different people like different things. that's fine. i just personally disliked that people kept comparing my blorbo to their blorbo to make theirs look better. i don't want to the same thing! that's not very nice!

so i'm just gonna talk about what i do know which is the way tged treated og lloyd! i've read a bunch of isekai stories and it's rare the times the og characters are taken into account or even acknowledged so i was pleasantly surprised with how much focus tged put on the fact that suho did take someone's place, he did lie to his family and he did pretend to be someone he wasn't. and he feels genuinely sorry about it. he doesn't justify it by thinking he's better than og lloyd anyway so no harm done. he genuinely wants to apologize and make it right and he wants to do it at the right moment.

and then when the people around him find out the truth, they're not,,, happy about it. they don't think it was for the best or that og lloyd got what he deserved or that they're glad for it.

javier is the closest thing we get to something like that and even then he's genuinely torn about what he should do with the information. he hated og lloyd, absolutely despised the guy's guts, but even then he's not glad that he got replaced even when he acknowledges the new lloyd is hardworking, constructive and reliable. he doesn't know where his loyalties should lie and he's "filled with anguish" as he tries to decide what to do.

it would've been very easy for bk moon to just go "yeah he doesn't care that the son of the family he swore to protect got replaced by a stranger that's been lying to him for years" like, ahem, some other people would have, but instead he took the time to acknowledge that "hey, this is a genuinely fucked up situation, there's no right answer here, anyway you slice it someone will get hurt and the only way to move forward is to minimize the damage and make amends to the people who were hurt".

which is nice to see in an isekai! even tho og lloyd was absolute human garbage the narrative didn't dismiss him as a person and instead acknowledge that while it wasn't lloyd's fault there was still a someone being hurt by the fact he possessed a body that wasn't his.

and then when his parents find out they genuinely mourn the child they lost. there's no happiness, no joy, not even relief at being rid of a constant source of worry and disappointed. they're so... sad and heartbroken about their son being gone. even while they accept lloyd as their kid, even as much as they come to love him, there is no moment where they express any kind of pleasure about him replacing og lloyd. rather you get the sensation that they wish they could've had both of them at the same time, that they wish one hadn't come at the price of the other, that they love both of them so, so much even as different as they are.

the only one who doesn't express any kind of regret or sadness about og lloyd is julian which... honestly, it's very earned. no one should be forced to mourn their abuser, which exactly what og lloyd was to julian. if julian had expressed sadness over og lloyd that would've been his right, but the fact that he never did, at least not on-screen shouldn't be held against him, considering the amount of hurt og lloyd caused him.

so yeah! i really like the way bk moon handled this aspect of the story! again, i don't know how tcf works or what happens on it and at this point i'm not really interested in knowing! i'm sure it did its own thing and that it was great too!

Another genuine question (entirely unrelated to my current housing etc drama):

If someone you haven't seen/spoken to in a literal decade texted you to say just like "Hi, thinking of you, how have you been" would you be weirded out? annoyed? happy?

(aka i have a friend who i haven't spoken to in a decade because i moved away to college and didn't go back to my hometown and over the years i have fairly regularly thought of texting them because it's the only contact i know, they don't have social media, except that i really have nothing to say. but they're someone who i went to elementary school with and we had that kind of friendship where we wouldn't see each other for a few years and then we'd meet up again and it would still be really great, and then we'd drift apart again, etc. just that over and over from 3rd grade all the way through community college and me leaving for uni. except this is the longest it's been. but they're literally the only person i was friends with as a kid/teenager that i still think about regularly. i just have no idea what i'd say or if they'd even want to hear from me. or even if the phone number i have is still their number lol)

Hello anon! Thank you for a genuine ask! I will try to give a decent breakdown of why I find the accusation flimsy.

So, "war crimes" is a box on the card because it's often thrown around as a very serious condemnation of the Jedi without consideration for what makes the accusation so serious. Usually the accusation is thrown with the intent of evoking an emotional & moral reaction against the Jedi through the same emotional & moral reaction one would have against war crimes. This tends to gloss over what actually makes a war crime.

War crimes are a rejection of the concept that war justifies brutality and inhumane atrocities. The root of this is harm done to people. This article is from the BBC and gives a brief overview of what a war crime is, why they were codified into international law, and some of what constitutes a war crime. (The article is dated from 2014, so you may want to find more up to date or detailed sources if you're doing more research, but I thought it was a concise & well-written overview that helps explain the point I want to make. It's a quick read, check it out before you continue.)

When people make this accusation against the Jedi, they often cite examples where the Jedi are fighting a droid army. Battle droids are not people. Battle droids are machines designed to autonomously kill people. These machines do not have any true choice or free will of their own. "We're independent thinkers. Roger, roger," indicates that each machine is individually autonomous and will carry out its designed function & programming as long as it remains functional. That programming is to kill and destroy. I reiterate: it will kill and destroy, on its own, until it is deactivated, destroyed, or given other orders.

Now I pose the following questions: is it a crime to deceive and destroy these machines? Should these machines be given the same regard as any life form? Is there harm done when these machines are destroyed? Should the safety of these machines be given equal consideration as the lives they are programmed to end?

Star Wars is not science fiction. It is fantasy in a science fiction setting. The sentience of droids is not the point and battle droids especially are not treated with any form of sentience in the narrative because they are not sentient life forms.

Should the Jedi treat machines with the same respect they treat living people? Or, do they have a duty to protect life from killing machines? Should they use the same tactics on droids that they use on people? Or, do they have more options to defeat the onslaught because they do not need to consider enemy lives as there are no enemy lives?

If the Jedi are to be accused of "war crimes" at least put a living enemy on the other side. Ki-Adi resorting to extreme weapons against the Geonosians? Sure, there are questions to be asked about the ethics, but to respond fairly, the full circumstances must be considered, and if it's to be called a war crime there's a higher bar for that argument. Should he prioritize enemy lives over the lives of his own troopers? When the willing enemy combatants are defending factories that build extermination machines? There is no perfectly moral answer; there isn't always a perfectly moral answer. These are situations where you get to make your own judgment call about the story. Do you think it's unethical? Do you think it constitutes a war crime? Do you think it's worthy of prosecution? How do you weigh your personal opinion against the narrative intention in your interpretation of the story?

When the accusation of "war crimes" is thrown at the Jedi, it's very often not accurate to start with, and ignores the reason that war crimes are so serious. I've seen many accusations of "war crimes" thrown that tell what a war crime is, but don't talk about why it's bad, because when you consider why a war crime is a crime, the argument against the Jedi starts falling apart.

tldr: is it a "war crime" if the victim is a non-living machine designed to kill living people?

hi, i am here in your asks completely genuinely bc i love your blog, (side note: i fully agree that bi buck is amazing, and great representation on his own) But the anon ask about ship baiting seemed more like it was about how they marketed the episode, which did feel a tiny bit weird to me. though i agree it wouldn't make sense for tim to confirm/deny eventual buddie, he's also probably not allowed to confirm/deny anything, and he's not in charge of the promos, that's all a different team right?

Tim said that the network makes the promos out of unedited footage and because obviously the rest of the episode would've been heavily spoilery, the only thing they could really reach for was the bachelor party; of which they didn't know how much will make it into the actual episode.

again, my personal thing about that whole anon was that 1) I don't see how putting buddie scenes into the promo was relationship-baiting when they are literally best friends who we know spend most every waking moment together (just because it's finally shown on screen properly this season, the dynamic hasn't changed in 6 years) and they are also both in separate relationships.

if you baited yourself into thinking that there was a cheating arc coming up, that's on you. if you thought something important along the lines of "oh" moments and realisations was about to happen... do you think that would've been cut? because I feel like that would've counted as important enough to keep for the future. if they didn't keep it, I think it's fair to say that it wasn't there to begin with.

2) I cannot stress this enough; the karaoke itself was one single frame of the promo. people latched onto it because of the idea of the song and the arm around the shoulder and it got blown out of proportion. it was never that serious...

I get that people want buddie to happen and they jump to the smallest of things to find proof; there's nothing new there, but I also feel like a little bit of realism wouldn't hurt this fandom when it comes to how storylines are handled.

I don't mean to sound complainy, but one of my pet peeves is when ads, books, or what-have you talk about diabetes being a reversible condition and utterly refuse to specify what kind of diabetes they're talking about.

For those who may not know (and I don't blame you, diabetes is a very complex issue):

Type 1 diabetes is a condition that results from the body attacking itself by specifically destroying insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. These cells, the islets of Langerhans, do not regenerate or divide, and are permanently gone when they die. Type 1 diabetes cannot be reversed, only treated.

Type 2 diabetes is a condition wherein the body does not metabolize carbohydrates, insulin, or glucagon (a hormone produced and stored in the liver; raises blood sugar when released) properly, causing a rise in blood sugar. It may involve insulin resistance or overutilization of glucagon, among other things. In some cases, type 2 diabetes can be reversed, usually through diet and exercise (however, this is not a certain outcome, and some people may need medication).

To summarize:

Type 1 diabetes: body does not produce enough insulin. Permanent condition. Symptoms managed.

Type 2 diabetes: body does not utilize insulin or carbohydrates properly. May be reversed. Often treated with diet and exercise, in addition to medication, if patient is overweight.

Needless to say, that is a very distinct difference! One may even say crucial! After all, they are two conditions that have similar outcomes, but very different causes.

You do not tell a type 1 diabetic, "oh just exercise and eat better, it'll fix it," because, I am so sorry to disappoint, we do not know pancreatic necromancy. If we did, well, then, type 1 wouldn't be an issue, now would it?

I feel like it really isn't hard to put in the two words, "type 2," before "diabetes" in your advertisement or book, yet I keep seeing it. Yes, I know that most diabetics have type 2, but still -- is it really so hard?

(Yes I'm bitter. Back in my wee days of diabetes, when I was still using syringes and lamenting the sheer number of carbs in cake, I was severely disappointed upon finding that the majority of sources claiming that diabetes wasn't permanent were referring to the type that I specifically did not have. Very disappointed. Rub it in, why don't you.)

So, yes, please specify! It could very much save an already-stressed child, teenager, or even an adult (as type 1 can surface in adults as well) a good two hours of fuming and lamenting their lot in life.

Also you'll have fewer enemies with needles at their disposal.

wait. whatttt. it's 90 for you to get your hair cut?? just for a short back and sides? you're from canada, right? so that's like 50 gbp for me, that's insane. i pay like. £17.50 and that's just bc i get charged for a woman's haircut. if they charged me for a man's, (or, y'know, based prices on haircut not gender, like they should) then it'd be like. £13.50. also, sorry for jumping into your asks, i'm just in shock haha

lmao yeah it's uh not ideal 😂 my last haircut was like $92 with tip so the actual haircut was like 80 which is still not great lol. Loreen has been cutting my hair for at least a decade now and she also does my mom and 3 younger sibs hair too and does it well! Like she's great, there's a reason we've followed her across various salons over the years until she and another stylist opened their own little shop. So small independent business, we're familiar with each other she knows how I like it cut, and the whole salon experience (do they wash ur hair @ a typical barbers shop or just like a spray bottle to wet it?) I anticipate and am okay with paying a little bit more than like a generic supercuts but uh not this much more

For reference this is the before and after pics of a haircut (there is usually a considerable pile of hair left on the ground after a cut even at this length lol)

It's just kinda continually slightly increasing in price over the years as expected bc everything has increased and I didn't even like paying for it when it was $70 a few years ago lol so sometime soon once I'm not broke I'll be looking for a new place for my haircuts and until then I'll just have to continue touching up my sides and letting the top grow out making me look like a 90s boyband reject 😂
