(SPOILERS if you haven't seen the show yet):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mxy knocks over a display case that contains the Helmet of Fate. The mystical, god containing item, makes its first appearance, along with Doctor Fate, in More Fun Comics #55 (1940) the panels were done by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman. The Helmet of Fate is the one controlling the body as it contains the god, Nabu, the Lord of Order. The helmet grants anyone who wears it magical powers and the mantle of the Doctor Fate. Usually the person most associated with the it is Kent Nelson but recent comics had Khalid Nassour take up the Doctor Fate name.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we see Mxy pass by the Cosmic Rod of Starman/Stargirl. In the
comics the original owner of the Cosmic Rod was Ted Knigh, the original Starman. The Cosmic Rod he wielded was about the size of a flashlight. It wasn't until Starman #4 (1994) (W: James Robinson, P: Tony Harris, I: Wade Von Grawbadger, C: Gregory Wright, L: John Workman) that his son, Jack Knight took the new and improved Cosmic Rod that his father made and used it for himself to take up the Starman name. The staff would then get passed on to Courtney Whitmore aka Stargirl who at the time took up the name Star-Spangled Kid, when Jack retired the Starman identity to raise his kid. Courtney took up the Starman name as Stargirl and used the Cosmic Rod to carry on the name. The Cosmic Rod gives its wielder flight and energy projection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mr. Mxyzptlk then passes over a flight ring in the display. Very good homage to the Legion of Superheroes. Originally the LoSH wore belts to allow their members to fly, but Brainiac 5 was able to make flight rings so they can be less encumbered by the belts as seen in the panel from Adventure Comics #329 (1965) (W: Jerry Seigel, P&I: Jim Mooney, L: David Huffine). The LoSH are a group of young superheroes from the 31st century who are from various parts of the galaxy that fight evil as a team. The group was inspired by reading the history of what Superman did and they want to uphold his ideals and legacy. If they do show up in the show I'll definitely talk more about them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In another display we see the Soultaker Sword. The sword is associated with Tatsu Yamashiro aka Katana. It and Katana make their first debut in the Brave and the Bold 200 (1983) (W: Mike Barr, P&I: Jim Aparo, C: Adrienne Roy, L: Jim Aparo). The sword was forged by Muramasa, who imbued it with magical properties where whoever kills with the sword, steals the souls of the victim's. Tatsu's husband and children were unfortunately slain by the sword, wielded by her brother-in-law and Tatsu has since then taken the sword and use it to avenged those who were slain by him. Because of the swords magical properties, it can be used to harm Kryptonians. Yes magic is a weakness for Superman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When we cut back to the League of Loises ship, Jalana goes Flamebird on everyone and name drops Comet. This is a very good homage to Comet the Super-Horse. Comet made his first debut in Adventure Comics 293 (1962) (W: Jerry Seigel, P: Curt Swan, I: George Klein, L: Milt Snapinn) Comet, along with Krypto the Super-Dog, Streaky the Super-Cat, and Beppo the Super-Monkey, formed the Legion of Super-Pets to save the Legion of Superheroes and Superboy from Brain-Globes of Rambat. Give Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow a read if you want to check out a really cool Comet story.

Krypton gets a name drop, Superman's home planet.

Someone on the MAwS team is a Kingdom Hearts fan.
Tumblr media
Kryptonite is finally introduced in the show, the most well-known weakness of Superman's. Fun fact Kryptonite made its first appearance not in the comics but on the Adventures of Superman radio show in 1943. It wasn't until 6 years later in 1949 that Kryptonite is introduced in the comics in Superman #61.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the League of Loises HQ we see MAwS Lois and Mxy walk down the hall with holographic projections of various Loises in the DC multiverse. The one on your left is obviously Lois Prime aka Fleischer Studios Lois the one on your right is Superman the Animated Series Lois. The one next to StAS Lois is Superwoman from Action Comics #60 (1943). The issue was created by Jerry Seigel and George Roussos where Lois dreams of having Superman's powers and saving the day.
Tumblr media
As Mxy searches for his hat we see him open up a cache of various weapons that the Loises have collected. Some of them are pretty recognizable like the Card Captor Sakura staff that's by Mxy's head, Guts's giant sword from Berserk above Mxy on the second shelf from the bottom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the episode wraps up we see MAwS lois activate the data sphere she took from the headquarters and sees evil Supermen tearing up the city. The first we see is an homage to Overman from Animal Man #23 (1990) (W: Peter Milligan, P: Chas Truog, I: Mark Farmer, C: Tajana Wood, L: John Costanza) and the second is designed after Justice Lords Superman from the Justice League cartoon.
Overman is from a world where all superheroes are part of the government and each one is a clone from him. Justice Lords Superman is from the two-parter episode "A Better World" where his Flash died, Superman kills President Lex Luthor in retaliation and he and the Justice League become dictators. Gotta admit Superman does look pretty cool in that suit.
That will be it for this week's episodes Easter Eggs and references. If you made it this far down the post and want to see the other MAwS Easter Eggs and references post you can find them here:

I just realized the Reboot kept giving other characters’ roles to Lyle. Mon-El and Brainy invented the flight ring? Actually it was Brainy and Lyle who did that. Cham was the leader of the Espionage Squad? Too bad, Lyle’s the leader now.

Oh sure, no reason to be worried about a half dozen futuristic flight rings just hanging around. Clark keeping one under his bed, letting fucking BOOSTER look after one.

Knife play with sevatarion? Love me some problematic Nightlords.
Love your work!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Author’s Note: tehe i just love him <3
Relationships: Jago “Sevatar” Sevatarion/Fem!Reader
Warnings: A bit lewd but not nsfw, The consent is dubious so tw dubcon, Violence, Knife play (no cutting in this one), Stalking, Predator/Prey kinda dynamics, General 40kness, Sort've vaguely implied relationship of somesort with Sevatar
Tumblr media
You’re always hypnotized by the way Sevatar flips around his blade.
Handle, tip, handle, tip,
He flips it around between his fingers like a coin trick, armored fingers more dexterous than you would ever have imagined them.
He wields it with a surprising gentleness, despite his nature. He does the mindless gesture quite often, and you find yourself distracted by it whenever he's near you. More than once you've had to snap yourself out of it, fix your gaze and try to remember the last words whoever had been speaking to you said.
Even Sevatar has caught you once. Though you hope he just thought you were zoning out, bored out of your mind from whatever you were supposed to be doing.
"Your legion doesn't bring you out here quite often, does it?"
You quickly pull your eyes away from the knife, and you swear, you swear, you hear Sevatar chuckle. But when you look, his face is the same deadpan it always is, watching you and everyone who comes close like a sentinel.
"Oh um, yes; The Night Lords tend to travel in systems quite far away from Terra, so I don't get many chances to step foot in the palace."
The man you were speaking to nods, and you’re thankful the conversation ends on a somewhat normal note not long later. You don't know how much more you would've been able to maintain interest, and not let your eyes wander. Though they do, not moments after the man turns his back on you.
Handle, tip, handle, tip
This whole evening has been a mess, you’re not sure how much longer you can entertain nosy lords, and commissars with far more free time than yourself.
"...Finally..."
The moment you return to your quarters it’s like a weight was lifted off your chest, and you debate what you want to do first. Do you want to take your dress off and get ready to sleep? Or go and-
The sound of heavy ceramite boots suddenly rings in your ear, and a primal sense of flight triggers in your body. Your head hammers and you go to scream, but a hand slaps over your mouth. You swear your heart stops; Like you're dead but still seeing and thinking.
“It’s me.”
Sevatar laughs at your fear, and the sound rumbles your chest. You know he can hear the racing of your heart from the fright better than you can even hear it in your own ears. “The others know you’re off limits.”
That doesn't mean the other Night Lords haven't tried to take a bite of you. The younger, Nostroman-born ones are eager to rip you to pieces, while older Night Lords like Sevatar attempt to maintain some form of obedience and structure.
Sevatar raises his other hand in front of you, knife held between his fingers.
“You want this, don’t you.”
Handle, tip, handle, tip,
“You don’t think I can’t smell how fucking wet you get whenever I toy around with it?”
He grips the handle to stop flipping it, pulling it closer to your jawline. The tip tickles your skin, sending shivers through your body. His hand slides off of your face, letting you breathe better.
“I’m going to cut that dress right off of you.”
With rough and seemingly careless handling Sevatar throws you onto your own bed, caging you to it with his own body. The tip of his knife presses against the underside of your chin and you're forced to tilt your head up and expose your neck lest he pierce your skin, and he slowly drags it downward- watching your skin ripple like the surface of broken water with bumps from the cold metal. It passes the dip of your collarbone, and he adjusts the tip to be a bit more parallel to your body as he cuts through the fabric of your dress.
It was a beautiful dark blue, but its little more than tatters in seconds as he cuts it clean in half and pushes the parts away to reveal your body. He laughs at the sound of the threads ripping and snapping, you don’t know if it’s at the flimsiness of your dress or the way you look up at him.
“You know how much I have to fight to keep the others away from you?”
His knife trails up the center of your stomach, slipping between your breasts underneath your bra. He pulls upwards and you whimper as the fabric digs into your back, but eventually the material looses out to the sharp blade and snaps in two. He takes the tip of the knife and brushes it against the side of one of your breasts and laughs as you writhe underneath him.
You don't know why you trust him as much as you do. Why screaming was never even a thought in your mind. Then again, would anyone come if you did?
“Too bad for them you’re off limits. I don’t share.”
Your legs are curled up between his, shaking from the cold of the ship and his blade.
“You’re too much of a good girl for me to let them break you like everyone else. They don't know how good of a catch are.”
With one yank he straightens your legs out, slipping his knife beneath the fabric and slicing your underwear. He tugs them away after, throwing the broken fabric aside. You're thankful you have spares, given he's reduced everything you've worn to ribbons.
Satisfied with your exposed body he puts the hand holding his knife close to your head to support himself- a subtle reminder that he still has it. He watches you glance towards it before looking back up at him.
You want him. You hate that you want him, terrified that you want him and how much he's obsessed with you; But you still want him. He's overtaken your entire vision and your entire world.
“I smell how wet you are. Tell me girl, what else is in that head of yours?”

Assorted Arrowclan headcanons of variable relation to canon, vol 1:
Ollie takes his survivalist shit extremely seriously - not in a prepper ‘six months of canned peaches’ way, but if any of the arrowfam are teleported to a desert island/the Jurassic/an alien planet/etc, they have the skills to survive and even to put batboys to shame. Mia was not terribly enthused to learn flint-knapping, but even on a normal patrol, fixing a broken arrow with a quickly knapped bit of broken glass is a useful skill.
Chilli became Ollie’s comfort food of choice because of Roy, and the cornbread he learned to make growing up on the reservation.
They’re all casually musical. Only Dinah and Roy are fully professional quality - Canary is of course Canary, and at least one of Roy’s cover IDs is a session drummer separate from his time in Great Frog - but the rest are talented amateurs. Star City citizens can tell if it’s a quiet night on patrol by the way they start harmonising Bohemian Rhapsody as they go. For a week after Hal brings Ollie quantum ghost hyperchillies from sector 1337, Roy and Mia sing Ring of Fire every time Ollie gets near them.
The Roy Harper Group Home for Neglected Sidekicks is vastly more successful than the Roy Harper Titans Academy (though to be fair, he’s alive to influence setup and is aiming for wildly different targets to headmistress Kori. But also….) Grant is an enthusiastic mainstay of cookouts and official Big Brother to the brood, several of whom get adopted into the JSA. Jason is perpetually confused.
(this leads to, when Ollie is being especially Ollie, a 21-year old Mia declaring she needs an adult and looking to Roy as the responsible one. Which causes perturbations, mostly in Roy’s psyche)
Between her early home life, living on the streets, assorted heroism-related absences, her school getting blown up and her involuntary sabbatical courtesy of Waller, Mia’s had about a year and a half of high school. It’s something she’s intensely insecure about, especially around her Titans team.
Lian was meant to give back her Legion Flight Ring before she went after Ollie and Connor. And she did! She just stole Saturn Girl’s ring on her way through the portal. This will cause problems for people that aren’t Lian.
Connor is welcome anywhere, anywhen. He’s got the only functioning ‘tact and diplomacy’ brain cell in the family.
Ollie is banned from Twitter. Roy, Mia and the Queen Industries PR department all owe Oracle a kidney apiece for ensuring he remains banned.
Connor’s mom is an old hippie and lives on a commune just outside of Metropolis. They grow weed that could knock out Superman. Mia isn’t allowed to make brownies with Moonday ever again.
Several leaguers and quadruple the number of supervillains have nightmares about the first Sin-Lian-Emi teamup. Some things are just unfair.
By the same token, Bruce and Ollie have explicitly barred Steph and Mia from ever working together again. They pay even less attention to this pronouncement than their mentors expected. Possibly it has encouraged them.
Roy’s favourite shot: tripping Wally with an arrow through his shoelaces. He first manages it when they’re both 14, but the pinnacle is when he repeats it when they’re in their mid-30s and Wally is having yet another Speedforce-related Capital-C Crisis. Roy saving the universe through the medium of teenage pranks is not something he ever lets Wally live down. There’s a display in the Flash Museum and everything.
Mia, recognising Ollie’s habit of stranding himself on Starfish Island every time the wind changes, has buried several caches of clothes, survival gear and rations around the island. Just because he has a Robinson Crusoe fetish doesn’t mean she can’t be comfortable in board shorts while he ‘reconnects’.

Booster Gold! ...but a middle aged father of two.
I mentioned back when I made my Macromia Who's Who inspired page that I wanted to do other Time Masters (that exists in my mind) character sheets too so here is this man.
Text from picture under cut In case it's hard to read
Personal Data
Name: Booster Carter-Kord (He/She/They) Alias: Booster Gold Height: 6’5  Eyes: Brown  Hair: Blonde/White Marital Status: Married Occupation: Superhero, Public Personality, Secret Time Master. Base of Operations: Vanishing Point, Metropolis, New York Home origin:  25th Century Texas
Powers/Abilities  Legion Flight Ring, Power Suit with time travel modifications, Gauntlets (Booster Shots). Super Nova costume: Temporal Displacement
History Once a star quarterback fallen from grace, now a star studded superhero. His hair may be going white and there may be wrinkles at the corners of his eyes (that he swears aren't there) but Booster Gold is still (some of) the public's sweetheart. Through the years he has worked to establish a name for himself, a brand. Modeling, talk shows, advertisements, secretly saving the world— he's done it all.
During the first few decades of his time in the 20th century Booster found his place in the Justice League International. There he met Ted Kord, the second man to hold the title of Blue Beetle. From the 80s to the mid 90s the two were a nearly inseparable heroic duo, and when they were apart they always found a way back to each other. Their partnership became romantic through the years.  Though, with the combination of Doomsday nearly throwing Beetle out of the game and The Overmaster cutting Booster’s arm off, their lives drastically changed. By 1996 The Blue and Gold was just The Gold…in a hero sense.
The days of Blue and Gold's brand of superhero adventures may be over but that doesn't mean the dynamic duo aren't still taking the world by storm. Booster continued his life as the hero Booster Gold and Ted shifted focus to building the brand of Lightspeed Entertainment- A videogame company founded by the two of them. Together they rebuilt and shaped their public image into a story of success.
Though none of that is as important to Booster nowadays than his family. Michelle Carter, his sister, found her way back out of being trapped in time leading to Booster spending his free time converging with The Time masters and butting heads with The Linear men. During a temporal mission to Daxam, he ended up saving and adopting a newly orphaned girl named Rani. With this Booster and his husband Ted shifted their focus to being fathers. Following the Birth and attempted temporal assassination of his second child, Ripley Carter-Kord, Booster created The Vanishing Point island that became the family’s home. Creating a life lived officially inside and out of time itself.

I made these for some ask prompts on another blog and I had so much fun with it that I just had to make some more expression reactions and a gif to go with it!
Fun facts: The necklace with the crystal and the blue candle flames are references to the Cobalt Blue part of the Thawne lineage, and the ring on the other necklace is a reference to the Flash ring (though you could also see it as a Legion flight ring. Maybe that's what's causing Thad to float? :3c)

Do you think Kon, Jon, and Clark ever talk about their different versions of the Legion of Superheroes? Do you think they make comparisons, or do they do their best to ignore the differences? Do you think they talk about old friends, only to find that no version of them even exists? Do you think their old flight rings disappear when the Legion changes?
Do you think Kon and Clark ever mourn the Legions that they lost?
Do you think Jon is scared of the day when he’s going to lose his Legion in turn?
