Low-level Dungeons & Dragons adventure where a village is being extorted by a "fearsome lich" which ultimately turns out to be a regular, non-animated skeleton being puppeted with rods and strings by a group of very sneaky goblins.

Lich Lords (1985) has a very cool recycled Frank Frazetta cover and, somewhat amusingly, an ad for the just-opened Frazetta Museum on the copyright page. This is a Role Aids adventure I often see cited as a favorite. I don’t think this one is bad, really, but I do think that the Frazetta cover predisposed a lot of people to enjoy a module that is just pretty OK instead of really frickin’ good. The back cover has a real good tag line though: “Fail and see a world…CRUSHED BY SKELETAL HANDS.”
Basically, there was once an evil city named Ool (good evil city name, tbh) rule by liches, but the gods didn’t like them, so they buried the city. After centuries, the liches are awake and their evil is seeping back into the world, so go to Ool and kill ‘em. Or, novelty: go to Ool, recruit the lesser Lich Lords to your side and with them, kill the High Lich or whatever he is called. Then betray the other liches, cuz the king who hired you wants all their crowns. Easy peasy.
The new high level magic and material on wishes amounts to a single page of forgettable text. Weirdly, this book has nothing to do with the Lich Lords portrayed in Undead a couple years later (and covered here last month).
The interiors are by Keith Berdak and David B. Bromley. Lots of good stuff, like the main lich and the demon in particular.

So I have extremely vivid dreams sometimes, and last night I had a dream about a new TTRPG that had released. It was a blatant ripoff of DnD called "Dames and Daddies."
In this game, all of the liches from OG DnD lore had somehow come back to life and turned into hot young wizards again. Sure, they lost their lichdom and immortality, but surprisingly, most of them were chill about it?? The game was mainly a dating sim, and players would roleplay while trying to seduce all the magical dames and daddies. The most powerful daddy was said to be the hardest to win over, and he was clearly annoyed by the constant stream of under-leveled adventurers that kept showing up trying to impress him.
If the party failed to make him fall in love, he would get fed up with romance and devote himself to achieving lichdom again, eventually succeeding and becoming the BBEG. And since the players had to spend most of the game roleplaying and going on dates, they had basically no combat abilities. So the only way the party could defeat the BBEG was by convincing enough of their paramours to fight him on their behalf. Since he was the only magic user in existence to become a lich twice, BBEG became incomprehensibly powerful. So the party's success in the final battle was completely dependent on the size and combined strength of the wizard harem they managed to amass over the campaign.
I'm still remembering more bits and pieces of this buckwild shit. I'm not sure what prompted this absolute fever dream, but I guess thanks for the entertainment, brain. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's a character from my monster of the week campaign that I ran for like two years. His name is the Radio Devil, and he's a music/tv producer whose also necromancer. He's become fixated on the 20th century, creating a massive underground studio below his office in Manhattan, where he forces his undead minions to recreate the pop culture of the analog era. He's not a good person, but he isn't really evil, he's a third more isolating thing.

Hey uh, if you're running/in any dnd/pathfinder/whatever games with liches, maybe don't use this term. I don't THINK liches themselves are antisemetic outside this term, their name comes from an old english term for corpse and theyre based on old sword and sorcery villains. But Gary Gygax couldn't go five minutes without being racist so uh...yeah.

The downside of being a queer dev who put visibly queer things into their graffiti-making game is getting bad reviews left by homophobes scared of a few pride flags in your game.
The upside is you get to see those homophobes who left bad reviews continue to play your game beyond the refund period and then use your art game to make the most dogshit awful graffiti you've ever seen in your entire life.

Ergo, The Sum Of His Body Of Work

Hello. I'll be attempting to act as the character "Acererak" from Greyhawk's depiction of the demi-lich primary. The Forgotten Realms take from 5e will be baked into the total lore as is suggested from the 5e and prior's adventure modules. My responses and reactions will be in character whenever engaging on this account, my actual account will be listed at the bottom of this page. Any out of character talk shall be through personal messages as i wish to engage with the personal writing side of RP.
I am new at text RP and would be grateful for useful advice as to proper etiquette, my experience is in TTRPGs and thus it's presumed customs. My only other online experience was with twitter and "gimmick" pages where i would act as a character as if they had access to social media. I've heard there should also be rules to interaction that should be set so i'll do so now:
(1): I shall not engage with erotic roleplay, he's a 1000 year old lich. (2): The character is a murderer, a mature type character. (3): I will not interact with dubious characters or users.
This page will be subject to change as i learn more about how things function, otherwise i'm happy to be a part of this whole situation. Main Account

This was so much funnnn 💚 The subtitles under the stats are her specialization! Being a full on idealist but also not at all a leader encapsulates her role in the story and as minor Scion quite well I think. If anyone is interested in details feel free to ask away 💚

The Beginning of the Crossvillious ( A crossover of BATIM, undertale and evillious)
Lich stayed immobile, while listening to the guests that they did not expect. He could turn them into meat pieces at any second but they've told him that Lady Banica was the one who let them talk with him. He wondered the reason why they wanted to talk with him while taking a long hard look at them, smirking. They were two of them. One being a boy -as Lich thought- and the other being a girl. Lich looked at the masculine one. He didn't have a human appearance. Lich thought about all of the human and superhuman races that he carried out researches so far, but none of their traits nor appearances were alike with this creature.
He listened them, patiently. They offered him to go to a 'vacation' which was astonishingly odd for Lich as he didn't remember that anyone who worked for Conchita ever went to a vacation. Lich immediately refused their offer as he found such things like 'vacation' a waste of time, he was solely willing to continue his work. Although, they demanded him to go with them and said that even Conchita agreed him to accompany them. That made Lich accept their offer as he thought that Lady Banica wouldn't have accepted their offer if it was something trivial.
Lich was right. The unexpected guests were not from evillious but from an another universe. Therefore, they've made a deal with Conchita to give her food from their own universe -which Conchita doesn't know the taste of- and Lich were to accompany them in order to try out the foods beforehand, to consider its quality. Not wanting to dawdle, the creature which emitted an ink smell opened up a portal with a gun-like machine in his hands. That moment made Lich spechless. It was the first time in his life span that he's seeing something like that. It was all black and it was like if it was a hole. Lich was still lingering while the two people entered the portal without any hesitation, so Lich accompanied them..
It didn't take much time for them to arrive at their destination, it only took seconds indeed. Before Lich was a place where the sun was emiting its shine brightly, It was surely a beautiful day outside.
Birds were singing.
Flowers were blooming.
Lich seemed to like that tranquil place. Lich started to observe the place. As he turned his head to the right he saw a building. Then he murmured to himself.
"What a majestic mansion."
