The fact that I've listened to Euclid HUNDREDS of times but it can still randomly hit just right and make me cry tho

#its such a gut punch /pos after the absolute journey of the rest of the album and its so pretty #its so optimistic despite some of the dark lyrics in it and it just resonates with me so much #it really feels like the musical equivalent of that point in recovery where you go 'FUCK IT IM GONNA AT LEAST *TRY* TO BE HAPPY'#and that's such a huge step when you've been that low and don't feel like you deserve it #it makes me so emotional bc ive been there and I know how much that step means #that song is probably the entire reason that one of our alters resurfaced as Vessel #sleep token #sleep token tmbte

#i don't know folks i listened through tortured poets department today and it simply did not resonate #certain lyrics did but i was not immediately enamoured as i was with midnights #the one song that smote me was i can do it with a broken heart though! that one def evoked an emotional response #i shall return to a handful of the ones i marked down but idk there's something jarring about this album #it feels like a lot of a lot and while the writing is as usual good there is a certain kind of word vomit quality to it that's un-taylor-li #like. or at least that i don't associate with her writing. the rhythm's a bit off #and the melody lines for many of the songs are really not as compelling as her past work

I don't want to generalise but I think people that think ttpd is so deep and excellent songwriting are also the same people who think acotar is the height of fiction

opinion on country music?

I don't really listen to it much, I can appreciate some Dolly Parton or Johnny Cash but I have basically no interest in modern country radio type stuff, it's all very formulaic and samey to me. And just not really my vibe tbh, I mostly listen to r&b and hip hop.

#to be fair tho its not like modern pop radio isnt also very samey #but some country songs I feel like theres a fucking check list lol #like theyre writing lyrics with a checklist like ok fellas #we gotta mention jeans. trucks. random southern state name. beer. and america and/or the troops.#i think obviously if youre from the south and grew up with it that kind of thing resonates differently #but as an LA bitch it just feels really boringly stereotypical to me #i answer
