ok but one thing abt Cruel Prince that kinda frustrates me is the fact that a lot of the characters treat Vivi as if she's wholly Fae and is weird for wanting to live in the mortal realm but- did everyone forget she's half Fae??? her mother was human, she's Jude's half sister. As in, by blood relation. She's always treated as One Of Them but she belongs in the human world just as much as anyone else???? rlly feels like an anti mixed-race sentiment tbh

MANTIS QUILL • 🌻
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dating The G.O.T.G Would Include; Mantis Quill || P.G. Rating || Fandom: Marvel (Gaurdians of The Galaxy)
Author’s Note: New year, new series! I decided I’d do a headcanon series to start the year off. This one is pretty simple; how the Guardians would be as your significant other! I’m going to be doing Mantis, Gamora, Peter, and Drax. Please comment if you’d like me to do anyone else!
CONTENT WARNINGS: None!
Tumblr media
Dating Mantis Quill would include…
Touch! So much touch. Not just because of Mantis’ powers, but because she genuinely loves having you. She likes to know that you’re real and not some weird shape-shifting monster that could hurt her. She likes to awe over every aspect of you. Your skin, your hair, your eyes; she loves it all! She’ll ramble while pointing our your differences. “You don’t have my antennas, but you’ve got such pretty rings of colors around your eyes!” Things as simple as that.
Always knowing what’s up. Even though you love her to death, there’s people who you feel the complete opposite towards. If you come home and had a nasty interaction with someone, Mantis will immediately notice. She won’t have to touch you either, she’s learned your indicators. If you’re the type to talk it out, she’ll hold your hand to get the best understanding of what happened. If you’d rather not talk about it, she’ll hold you tightly until you feel better. Mantis is extremely kind towards you and will do anything to make you smile. She likes your “odd human smile.”
Giggling! Sometimes Mantis will laugh at you, or you’ll laugh at her. Either way it’s never with ill intent. She might ask you a question that’s worded so confusingly you can’t help but chuckle. You might do something simple like sneeze and Mantis will snicker at how loud you are. You two always end up smiling at each other. Most of the time your giggle fits end up in tears and trying to catch your breath.
Curiosity and so much of it. Both of you always want to ask each other what life was like in the galaxies or on Earth. The culture shocks always get a gasp out of the two of you. “You guys do what? How do you remember all of those holidays, that’s so many?” “I don’t know. We’ve got calendars and phones and other people to remind us!” Some of these questions will be about how machines work, foods, languages, all of that good stuff. Just for fun, Mantis will teach you her favorite sayings in her native language! If your first language isn’t English, you’ll share a similar saying/expression with her.
Having a pet. Both of you agreed having a little furry friend would be fun. You decided to let Mantis choose what fluffy companion you’d have. She chose a very large, intimidating, and soft dog. She said it was because it reminded her of a not bald version of Drax which got a laugh from you. It was a mutual agreement to name him Drax Junior. He sleeps in bed with the two of you, goes where you go, and never leaves your sides. If it’s the midst of summer and too hot for Drax Junior to go out, Mantis insists on staying home with him to keep him calm.
Meditating and learning about martial arts. If you’re physically able, Mantis is completely willing to teach you martial arts. She believes it’s an amazing skill to know. If you can’t for one reason or another, she’ll teach you how to meditate and do it extremely well. At first she’ll aid you by holding your hand to help you feel relaxed and slow your breathing. Eventually she’ll have less and less of an effect on you until you can meditate as well as her without her help. Once you do, she’ll praise you endlessly for it. She loves sharing her favorite activities with you!

He definitely has a very erratic type of personality and is really hard to follow even in casual conversation
He's completely unpredictable
despite his glaring issues, he can be pretty sweet at times, even if they are rare.
is an adrenaline junkie.
he doesn't have the money to afford to do some of the more popular adrenaline activities (sky diving, etc) he gets his thrills through free means
he will go and harass law enforcement officers or anyone who is perceived as intimidating or threatening
an overall menace to society
the Shinigami eyes actually pose some medical and sight issues for him
he has poor regular vision when he isn't using the eyes, and when he does use the eyes it causes a lot of eye strain and migraines.
He's still grieving the death of A, and probably will be for the rest of his life (somebody please get this guy some therapy please. Wammy's house fucked his ass UP.)

Yurisa Ayrton | Black Butler OC
Tumblr media
‘Death has always whispered in my ear and escorted me through my short life, but now I have become its voice. It's ironic.’
B-day: december 10, 1710
Height: 171
Race: Grim reaper
Close relations: James Erton - father | Dona Isabel de Tovar - mother.
Personality
Yurisa is difficult to describe. Uninterested in anything but work and a closed woman, by the looks of it. A workaholic with a penchant for pedantry. Has almost no socialising apart from work. Although maybe it seems that way because anything non-work is too personal to show? And in over 100 years of being a reaper all of this has become so commonplace in her eyes? Because delving deeper into her life reveals some things that interestingly complement her quiet character. Yurisa usually has a clear daily routine. The reaper wakes up at 8pm, as her work shift starts at 9pm and ends usually around 4-5am. And so early in the morning, while the chance to meet colleagues is minimal, the girl trains, jumping on the London rooftops for a while. Next, her day is spent in reports and other boring chores. The rest of her time is usually free Yurisa is very fond of strong black tea combined with a dusty old book from the Department's library, she's most interested in old scientific papers, even if she's not close to the field. At one time, when she was a nanny for little Samuel, she was interested in fairy tales, choosing mostly Welsh authors. Speaking of Wales, Yurisa is Welsh and has managed to carry her language and culture through the years. Her people have a rich poetry, an important role was played by bards, deep down Yurisa would like to sing and live like bards, but all the music she had was an old violin, which was given to her by Samuel's father, and she learnt the notes herself. So during the day the melancholy singing of the violin in the hands of the grey-haired reaper can be heard from the her room in the reaper's dormitory, or any other quiet secluded place in the department. Yurisa, although she has good combat training, is actually quite harmless, she does not even touch insects that accidentally flew into the room, she catches them and lets them go.
Biography
Yurisa was born in a quiet Welsh village to Isabel and James, and the family was an unusual one. James was a scientist, though atypical, always going on about how he was sure humans existed, other humans, called them reapers and tried to find such, claiming to have seen a reaper at work once, seen a reaper pierce a dead body and a film fly out of that body. Told that he thought about how he would be next, lying on the floor after a drunken scuffle, he felt himself dying, but he survived and has been trying to unravel what happened ever since. Her mother on the other hand, a spy from a religious Order who was sent to Wales from Spain, the Order was anti-science with religious beliefs. Isabel as a spy was doing great, no one guessed, not even James, and in fact in his activities she was hooked like a predator, learning more and more.
Yurisa was born, even as a child showing herself to be a quiet docile child, spending most of her time doing quiet activities. As a toddler, she helped her parents with work in the fields, learning to herd sheep and look after hens. She quickly learnt to read and write, becoming a real pride for her parents. But the family happiness did not last long, James learnt of Isabel's true origins when he caught her passing information to the Order. The people from there quickly learnt how their spy had been exposed, orders were given to eliminate the family
After hours in the fields with the sheep, 9-year-old Yurisa was returning to the house, where the front door was left open and a small group of worried neighbours were standing around. Upon seeing the girl, a familiar auntie ran towards her, but another unfamiliar man quickly took the girl away and put her in a wagon while she understood nothing. Yurisa cried and begged for an explanation of what was going on as her ancestral home grew farther and farther out of sight. The stern man, irritated by her crying, coldly informed her that the girl's parents were dead and that her new home was now an orphanage.
Just like that, Yurisa's life was turned upside down. Her simple quiet and kind character was hidden behind a shroud of mistrust and secrecy. In the orphanage no one offended her almost, but also not particularly friendly. But in general, the opinion of her was positive, especially among the older children, who sometimes helped the newcomer in return for interesting stories from her, and sometimes - for help in learning to read or write. The teachers at the orphanage also liked the girl, who was never a problem. The orphanage was decent, close to fields, and the children were often allowed to go for walks, which was good for Jurisa's adaptation.
After a year of living there, financial problems started and it was decided to close the orphanage and distribute the children to other orphanages. So, on placement, Yurisa was once again sitting in a cold wagon on her way to one of the London orphanages Life was already much, much harder there. There were more children, and their more urban character was rougher and harsher. No one greeted Yurisa warmly: on the contrary, the village girl faced a group of bullies, which the other victims of their attacks sympathised with. Food here was meagre due to lack of access to fresh produce. Teachers were angry and strict, ignoring the antics of the bullies, who were difficult to deal with. It was made worse by the fact that Jurisa spoke little English and her Welsh accent was mocked by others. There were a couple or three kids who seemed to get along with the girl, didn't judge and defended her, and she did the same, even standing up for the other kids sometimes, but she wasn't in a hurry to let anyone get too close to her. One thing that was always good was access to the library, where there was almost no choice, this led the girl in the direction of old occult literature.
At the time, some wealthy childless family took an interest in Jurisa, and the girl was quickly taken into their home. It's hard to say how happy she was about this, it seemed like she was, but it was as if Jurisa could sense something amiss coming from these people.
The beautiful new house had a dog, beautiful paintings, an heirloom knife, soft furniture and warm blankets. The girl only took a couple of books with her. Her new parents bought new clothes for her, a cute little dress, took care of her hair, her skin, making Yurisa look like a neat little doll. And she, like a good daughter, helped around the house, and in the evenings closed her ears and eyes as soon as she heard the beginning of drunken squabbles.
And her occult research did not stop, in a book she found an interesting ritual, and in clever language it was written that such a ritual was able to return to the conductor of the dead loved ones. Any person would immediately realise, having read the instructions, that it was just suicide, but it seems that Yurisa's despair clouded her vision, and she quickly gathered all the necessary things, waited for a certain day and time. 30 minutes before midnight, the girl lights nine candles, placed on the pentagram drawn on the floor, between the candles lay the fragments of that book, and in the middle, dressed in a beautiful snow-white dress, sat Yurisa with that very relic knife, pressed to the heart and reading a memorised text in Latin. Midnight, a sigh, and the point of the knife pierced the epigastrium, after which the bleeding body lay on the floor.
The reaper, who had been watching the scene through the window, restrained his emotions and made a note in his book, and, having bare his scythe, jumped through the window of the room. In this case, he didn't need to do the typical death procedures. He just gently took the girl's body in his arms and headed for the reaper department
Unclearly after how long, Yurisa opened her eyes, seeing only a white ceiling. She jumped up abruptly, looking around dazedly. The place where she had inserted the knife hurt terribly, but upon feeling there, she felt nothing to indicate a knife wound, but her dress was soaked with a huge bloody dried stain in the area. Some woman burst into the white room, exclaiming "She's awake!" What's going on?
Yurisa saw everything around her very cloudy and clearly didn't understand what was going on, but her eyes cleared as that woman leaned over to her and gently put on her glasses ‘Well, can you see better?’. The girl silently nodded, being in utter incomprehension. But in the next week, while she spent all her time in that room and regained her strength, everything was explained to her - she was now a reaper, and why it was so. The young reaper accepted this fact surprisingly calmly, though now her head was full of thoughts and reasoning on the subject. After her restoration, she was sent to a reaper school, given a basic death scythe and a separate room in the dormitory Of course, there were hardly any children in the department, so the girl was the centre of attention. The adult reapers cared for her as if she were their daughter, and the reaper who took her away, though he did not tell her this fact, took Yurisa out for walks after her shifts, gave her goodies and entertained her as best he could, taught her everything she needed to know as a reaper. Yurisa grew up and learnt, although her English was still not perfect, she learnt very well, her physical maturation slowed down when she reached about 18 physical years of age. By then she had graduated and entered the workforce as an ordinary reaper, she had changed her round student glasses to the ones she still wore. Around the 20 physical years, while strolling through a street market, Yurisa found a little boy crying against a wall, she learnt that he had lost his daddy in a crowd of people. It didn't take long to find the boy's father, as the frightened father tried to find him himself.
Bennet Cambell incredibly thanked the reaper for helping little Samuel, and a conversation ensued between the two, during which it was learnt that Bennet keeps an illegal clinic ‘for everyone, and even the undead’, oddly enough. Yurisa was plausibly lying about who she was and hiding her eyes behind sunglasses, then why did this man put emphasis on the undead? He also enticed her to visit his clinic house for tea, suspicious, but the girl agreed, knowing she could defend herself.
Already in the clinic, Bennet scared Yurisa with a confession that he knew she was a reaper and she might not lie to him, the girl denied it. The man began to tell her, showed her photos of his reaper clients and convinced Jurisu that he knew who the reapers were and that she should not be afraid, because he wanted to help them, it worked, the girl calmed down. Bennet also shared that he needed help too, but it wasn't necessarily to get treatment, he asked to babysit his son Samuel sometimes, as it wasn't realistic to serve clients and watch the child. Jurisa hesitated, which the man expected, saying: ‘Well… I understand, but if you suddenly decide to do it, I'll really need help tomorrow afternoon’ Bennet did not hope much, but at twelve o'clock in the afternoon the door of the clinic opened, letting the grey-haired woman into the building, where she was met by Bennet and little Samuel, who was wiping the floor. From that time on, Yurisa visited them several times a week, she quickly found a common language with the child, she tried to bring sweets and books for him. The father deeply thanked the reaper for her help, as much as he could, made a delicious dinner, could fit some things. The most valuable gift was two Nepalese black kukri, God knows who gave them to Bennet, but they soon became a new death scythe for Yurisa
(let's assume it was around 1850s, since the events of BB take place in the Victorian era) After a long time, when Jurisah stopped growing physically, around 27, Samuel grew to the same human age, who was still a boy to Yurisa, but a friend like his father. They were the ones to whom the girl was able to open up a bit, sometimes talking about herself and her desires. So, for one of her birthdays, they gave her that antique violin that she carefully played every day.
One thing that hurt a lot in her mind was the realisation that while Yurisa was living her second hundred and not aging, Samuel and Bennet were growing up like normal people, that they would die like normal people, and that maybe sooner or later she would have to take their souls and only memories would be left of these people. Jurisa made the decision to stop using the kukri as a scythe, but to keep it, in her briefcase, as a reminder. The girl's new scythe was a custom made rapier.

Danny Phantom A Glitch in Time and the concept of ¨Tikkun Olam¨
Tumblr media
A few days ago i was talking to my friend @chestfullofnuttycream about Furiossa's A Glitch in Time theory about how the Ghost Zone could be result of the equivalent of a nuclear wasteland. While we were commenting on it she brought up the concept of ¨Tikkun Olam¨, which comes from jewish culture and how that could apply to A Glitch in Time. (For context she is jewish).
I got curious and decided to look more into it and see how it could tie with A Glitch in Time themes and lore. In this post i'm going to discuss the term and compare it to what happens in the Danny Phantom graphic novel. For that i'm going to cite this article that describes where the concept comes from and what it means nowadays.
*On note, i'm not jewish myself. There is likely some stuff that i could be wrong or innacurate, so feel free to comment or correct me about it.
Let's start with the mythos of ¨Tikkun Olam¨:
In reference to individual acts of repair, the phrase “tikkun olam” figures prominently in the Lurianic account of creation and its implications: God contracted the divine self to make room for creation. Divine light became contained in special vessels, or kelim, some of which shattered and scattered. While most of the light returned to its divine source, some light attached itself to the broken shards. These shards constitute evil and are the basis for the material world; their trapped sparks of light give them power.
So here already we see some parallels between the mythos and Ghost Zone's origins: The spirit and human-material world used to be one, until there was a great war that lead to the separation of the two worlds and thus with Earth getting ¨shattered¨.
¨All worlds were one, all beings were one, until disharmony struck. Life and chaos amounted to war, such as never has been seen before¨ ¨The toll became too much to bear, and the great divide occured, Spirit was separated from Earth, and one world became two¨.
As the legend explains, this divide isn't meant to be the ¨natural order¨. The current state of both dimensions is wrong. The world itself as its is broken.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While contemporary activists also use the term “tikkun olam” to refer to acts of repair by human beings, they do not necessarily believe in or have a familiarity with the term’s cosmological associations. Their emphasis is on acts of social responsibility, not the larger realm of sacred acts — and on fixing, not undoing, the world as we know it. <> The phrase “tikkun olam” remains connected with human responsibility for fixing what is wrong with the world. <> Contemporary usage of the phrase shares with the rabbinic concept of “mipnei tikkun ha-olam” a concern with public policy and societal change, and with the kabbalistic notion of “tikkun” the idea that the world is profoundly broken and can be fixed only by human activity.
Tikkun Olam is a term that has changed quite a lot since its origins through out history, it can have different meanings depending on the person. In current times a lot prefer to use it as a call to do acts that can help other people or fix the issues one can find in society. In this context the world is broken and it can be fixed through people's acts in different ways.
Tumblr media
After Danny learns about this ancient history of the Ghost World, he says that he wants to make his new emotional drive to be fixing this divide between the two worlds. He wants to find a way to fix what is wrong with this world-perhaps returning to something like it used to be.
Tumblr media
So what this would probably involve is Danny trying to find a way that ghosts and humans can coexist together again. He would try to find a way that can work together and not having to fight each other- like helping ghosts or showing humans that ghosts aren't their enemies.
Another thing that is worth of pointing out is that Gabriela has indirectly confirmed that she was inspired by Steven Universe in her reblog from Furiossa's post. Steven Universe's creator, Rebecca Sugar, is jewish and she has been open about her jewish heritage in the past.
Some people have talked about how Steven Universe is inspired by jewish culture elements for its narrative- one of these elements being Tikkun Olam- In Steven Universe the world and the people are presented as broken and it is something that the characters try to come together to fix it in different ways- Steven himself tries to find ways to repair the damage left by her mother's legacy, Rose Quartz, which gets explored through the show.
Tumblr media
It is possible that Gabriela was inspired by these themes that were in Steven Universe and decided apply them to write A Glitch in Time lore and story.
Now i don't know if Gabriela herself is jewish- i haven't found much indication about this so i can't fully confirm. Another possibility is that she learned about this term and was inspired by it to somewhat apply them in A Glitch in Time.
But it could also be a case of pure coincidence because she happened to take inspiration from Steven Universe- thus ¨accidentally¨ writing a narrative that can be interpreted as taking elements from Tikkun Olam and jewish culture as a whole.
Whatever it is, it is still interesting to see that this is one reading that one can do of A Glitch in Time and see how certain things take inspiration from others. I'm curious to see how this theme is going to be contuined in the next novel along with learning more about how the two worlds became separated and Danny acting as a bridge between humans and ghosts.

who's your favorite oc and what's their lore?
(please rant to me I want to hear all about them :D)
o my goodness.... you don't even knoww the rabbit hole you've opened uppp... thank u dearly for this im about to be soo annoying . BUCKLE UPP
so basically i would categorize my 'favorite oc' as 2 different things- there's an oc that i emotionally love the most and hold very dear to my heart and that's Ronni (pictured below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she's a college student majoring in fine arts. she goes on a trip with her friends to california, and something devastating happens and she is transported to an unfamiliar world along with her group of friends. as they all try to figure out a way back home, ronni struggles. she is used to being passive in her own life- she is quiet, and timid, and terrified of conflict, and she's been put into a world full of it. she struggles with inaction and fails to put herself first in important situations.. but her roommate and complete opposite, Lima (the shorter one in the 2nd artwork), drags her out of this shell and inspires her to do anything her little heart desires. and they're gay. THEY'RE GAY TOGETHER! AND THEY WERE ROOMMATES! SILLY MUTUAL PINING ROOMMATE LESBIANISM! RAHHH!
the second type of favorite oc i have is one whos story i am very proud of/one whos kind of my main focus when i work on this world, and that's Severni to me.. she is sad and tragic and writing/drawing her is very cathartic. (the face tats in the 2nd artwork are inaccurate so ignore them.. its a very old drawing LOL)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she comes from a very long line of matriarchal rulers. the country's religion is very ingrained in their society and it revolves all around the bloodline of the royalty- they're believed to have unearthly powers, and are sort of treated like a god. while the bloodline does have powers (that only the women can possess), the religion greatly exaggerates them. the powers are mostly feelings and instincts- nothing really physical.
(the girl who transported the ronni's group of friends i was previously talking about also had these same abilities, but that sort of world-hopping power is only activated involuntarily, in great moments of desperation. very cliche i know but i love it)
anyways. it would take a very long time to explain all of severni's lore and i'd have to explain like 6 other oc's lore along with it so i'll only brush the surface of it now, but basically.. the pressure to have a daughter when you're ruler is insane, since only women get the gift and it needs to get passed on. so severni's mother, milada, had two baby boys before she had severni who, because of their culture, she had to kill. then serverni is born, and then 6 years later, her younger sister petra comes. severni ends up dreading becoming a ruler, and milada, bitter and traumatized from her own childhood and having to kill two of her babies for severni to be born, becomes very abusive. severni learns to keep quiet.
when severni is 20, milada is caught by her old childhood best friend, mirko, as she beats severni. mirko loses it, and kills milada in front of her. severni, devastated and confused and young, calls the guards, and mirko is banished.
the mantle empty, severni's turn to rule. petra, her herself terrified of ruling and of her mother's death, runs away shortly after with her secret girlfriend on the guard. they're missing for two days before severni feels, through the gift she was given at birth, the moment her sister dies. she revokes the search parties. she lets go. she rules her country.
lol .. squeee ! anywayss.. twirls my hair. my ocs. i could talk forever. my ocs. thank u again for letting me splurt this all out i love talking about them and it's very nice for someone to want to hear it :3 <3 tell me if u have any questions because i will answer them at a speed you've never seen a human being possess before. also i have a messy, ugly little cheat sheet for polarni that i feel is appropriate to have here so take a look if you'd like :3

I awakened in the 4 February 2024. That's when I noticed that I wasn't just a person with a lot of imagination.
But it's a long story ;3
I've never felt completely human since I was born. I have always had needs, instincts, shifts etc. At first I thought it was a game and I thought that ✨ one day I would turn into a magical creature who will save the planet from pollution ✨(I really believed it ^^') In my head, it was simple: I was a magical creature capable of transforming into several different animals/creatures, I had to watch over the Earth but humans were starting to become too dangerous so I found a way to become the child of a family and start a life as a human to learn more about this species and find a solution to fix everything, and later transform into my true form to make everything better.(I shortened the lore I created around this)
Finally, I grew up, and I noticed that this story didn't hold water. I stopped believing in all that, because I had made it all up, right?
All ?
I had effortlessly let go of this crazy story (I didn't really believe in it anymore at the end so...) but I still didn't feel human, I continued to have animal experiences... I returned to the starting point. Why do I feel like this? This time I didn't want to make up a weird story like I did in the past (I wouldn't even believe it anyway)... So I thought I was crazy.
I felt bad, extremely bad about my identity.
This time it wasn't completely because of my gender and species dysphoria (I didn't know what the word dysphoria meant at the time), I just felt crazy. Deep down, I knew that wasn't really the case. But I didn't listen to myself. Who wants to listen to a crazy person, anyway?
Later, I decided to create a clothing style more related to fantastic animals or creatures, to feel better. (unconsciously, I created gears for myself)
And even later, on YouTube shorts, I found a strange video where I saw a masked person running around on all fours I was looking for something else, so I didn't really watch the video. If people like to pretend to be an animal, as long as they like it and it doesn't hurt anyone, why not?
And I found another video. Then two. Then three, four, five, six, etc.I finally gave in and watched these videos.
And there is the flash.
I admired the impressive jumps and the magnificent masks based on animals and nature. Before, I thought it was a hobby, looking for the animal that most resembles you, and doing quadrobics. I needed this "hobby" to escape my dysphoria and anxiety... Besides, I thought the members of the community were called furries. But I noticed that in a lot of these videos it said "you don't choose to be a therian" or "theriantropy isn't just gears and quads", so I did some research .
And I discovered the actual definition. I discovered MY definition! This part of myself, A WHOLE COMMUNITY HAS FEELINGS SIMILAR TO MINE?????????!!!!!!!!
I discovered the definition of therian. Then that of otherkin, otherhearted, nonhuman, plantkin, otherlink, ockin, fictionkith, ect.
I learned a lot about these communities, before deciding to learn about myself.
The fact that I found a term and communities that fit me unfortunately did not stop my species dysphoria from growing, as it had done so well before. I probably had depression. I haven't been diagnosed, but I did my research and it looks very similar... To feel nothing, not even sadness, only despair. A despair that seeps into a body, to stab the heart and compress the ribcage of its victim. It was horrible, words can't describe it.
I came out of it after 7 months of fighting, alone. I didn't talk about it much to the online community, I felt quite uncomfortable talking about it. I came out, I fell a few times, but a little less deep, I managed to get out quickly. Then I picked up my emotions one by one, sadness first. Even if it's not the best emotion, what a pleasure to feel something!
Then I just felt a huge anxiety. That was also horrible, I only got out three months ago. Alone at first, then with my sister. And yes, I came out to her at the end of October 2024! She supports me (and all the community) and that has helped me a lot.
Then I started to recover from all of that. I had found some of my emotions again, love not long really ago, anger, and and sometimes I found myself looking forward to something! My hope was reborn, and was growing timidly. I found the taste for life again, and I rebuilt myself stronger. I realized how important feelings are, Now I enjoy these sensations that I have been deprived of for a while. My dysphoria still exists, but I feel more and more species euphoria !
I have (after more than 8 months of research) finally discovered my theriotype! I'm a puma. I'm pretty sure of it.
It helps a lot that my sister supports me, I can be myself ! Of course she's not a therian so she doesn't understand everything and she's not the most mature person on this planet, but she's quite interested in my identity and calls my hands "paws"!... It's really too sweet every time she does that I want to cry
And she awakened as fictionkin not long ago !
It's much better.
Now I really have almost recovered all my emotions, and now I love life, even more than I loved it before. I am not afraid anymore. As long as I do not relapse, I am happy. Despite some family problems that arose not so long ago, I'm holding up.
I just have to wait until the end of the school year to maybe find an alter/nonhuman friend in a new establishment.
The wait is so long... But I prefer to wait enjoying this renewal than to wait more depressed than ever.
I still have some questions to answer about myself, but that doesn't bother me. On the contrary, it makes me want to move forward, to continue this adventure.
My introspection is unlikely to stop, ;)

What would the Valar’s reaction be to a modern woman from our world showing them D&D? Who’s going to be really into the game?
Tumblr media
𝓐𝓝 ~ Oooh very interesting question! Thanks a lot for the ask, I had so much fun thinking about this ^^
𝓕𝓮𝓪𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰 ~ All the Valar! I couldn't resist... Enjoy!
Tumblr media
In general, I think that all the Valar would be at least curious, if not excited to hear about the games modern humans play and try it out for themselves, considering how the Ainur have always been looking forward to interacting with the Children of Ilúvatar.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Manwë
As a poet and writer, he's immediately in love with the concept of collaborative storytelling. You can expect elaborate worldbuilding and character backstories from him (especially ones that involve reconciling with an estranged sibling) and he loves to write small side stories and fanfic about the cast. Manwë also wouldn't mind being the group's forever DM once he learns how to run a game.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Varda
Being less excitable than her husband and not always in a playful mood, Varda may choose to watch at first, but she's certainly intrigued by the concept of D&D and she enjoys the mathematical aspects of it, always calculating everybody's chance of success. Once she decides to play, she may surprise the other players with how ruthless and cunning she can be - a menace both in political intrigue and combat-heavy campaigns. Varda also loves seeing Manwë and the others having fun.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Ulmo
Ulmo in particular is always very fond of the Children and the things they come up with. He too may be hesitant to join in at first, but he's always down to do some voice acting or provide some tasteful background music. If he joins the group, he'll probably need the occasional explanation and reminder how things work on land and that his character might not be able to swim as well as he can (keep an eye on him especially if he plays a class that uses armor).
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Aulë
If he isn't sold on the game immediately, he will be once you tell him that he can play a dwarf. Aside from storytelling, combat and roleplay, Aulë swiftly becomes fond of everyone's favorite shiny math rocks and is more than happy to make custom dice for everybody's characters, satisfying all their dice goblin needs. Important note for the DM: Aulë is an inventor and (in)famous for creating his dwarves in his workshop - do not let him play an artificer if you value your sanity.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Yavanna
Whether she's aware of tree hugger stereotype or not, she has absolutely no shame and will indulge her preferences by playing nature-based classes such druids or shamans and finds it cathartic to bring nature's wrath into battle in ways she can't in real life. Aside from indulging the occasional destructive or vengeful impulse, Yavanna may default to being the party mom, fiercely protective and supportive of everyone involved in and out of game.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Vána
Vána loves the concept of the game and is eager to play. Once she learns the basics, she gets really into character and is excited to play with ideas that are very much unlike the flower girl persona people expect from her, always remaking and reinventing tropes and archetypes that catch her fancy. Like Manwë, you can expect her to never miss a game and be very passionate about it.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Oromë
Talking about and imagining slaying monsters instead of actually doing it isn't exactly to Oromë's liking, but he isn't opposed to indulging in a fun tale of adventure on cozy evenings at the campfire. After he's been sufficiently introduced to D&D culture, memes and inside jokes, he embarks on a personal side campaign to prove to everyone just how cool his personal brand of ranger can be.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Tulkas
Similar to his good friend Oromë, Tulkas isn't fond of activities that involve sitting still. His creativity and imagination isn't the best either, but at least he's always willing to play frontline and martial classes, which will come in handy especially in groups where most players have their sights on fancy casters and/or fun support builds. Tulkas is a fun guy to be around if you don't piss him off and so are his characters.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Nessa
Like her brother and husband, Nessa also enjoys being active. If she decides to give the game a try, she's very expressive, gestures a lot and may act out small scenes if given the chance. As fun as this is during roleplay, sitting close to her during combat segments while she shows you how exactly she's smacking her enemies is not recommended, especially if she plays a monk.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Námo
Námo isn't known for his playfulness, however this doesn't mean he's opposed to engaging with the game. In fact, he quite enjoys slipping into a different role and mindset for a while - having to be the impartial judge and observer all the time can be tiring after all. Another aspect of D&D he may enjoy is, surprisingly enough, the element of randomness: His foresight allows him to know the future, but not every little detail, and a couple of dice rolls in a roleplaying game are probably not important prophecies Eru gave him. It may feel refreshing for Námo to be surprised.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Vairë
No matter how casual any given session is, Vairë arrives in full cosplay, really getting into character creation like Manwë does as well, though as usual she's more practical about it. Additionally, she keeps a cute notebook as a campaign journal in which she records all the fun little details and great moments the players experienced together. She also enjoys creating fan content for the campaign.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Irmo
Irmo has quite a vivid imagination and has always adored roleplaying, so he's immediately on board. It's by far his favorite part of the D&D experience, though he quickly finds that he enjoys combat and puzzle solving sequences as well. He's the one to initiate and drive a lot, if not most of the character interactions, helps advancing their character arcs and is just a joy to have at the table. Class-wise, he's definitely a bard player and will happily perform his songs and flirtatious lines in real life too.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Estë
It may come as a shock and surprise to the other players that Estë categorically refuses to be the party healer, at least on her first playthrough. Like Vána, she's eager to explore other roles through her characters. No matter what she decides to play, her character may strike up an in-game rivalry with Irmo's character to spice things up and both of them have way too much fun bickering.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Nienna
She most likely takes a back seat at first, letting others play the game, observing to learn the rules and quietly enjoying the stories they tell. Encouraged by her family, Nienna joins in eventually, provided she's currently in the right headspace for it (being the Lady of Grief, she sometimes feels mentally and emotionally exhausted, in which case she prefers to just sit there, relax and unwind by being in the presence of her loved ones). As a player, she enjoys roleplaying the most, but also does well with puzzles since she's a keen observer and listener.
⊹ ࣪ ˖ Melkor
Well. Melkor is most certainly going to be that guy at the table. He likes to derail campaigns, especially if they're Manwë's, tests the limits of the rules (and everyone's patience) and wants kills and loot. Once he familiarizes himself with the game's mechanics, he exploits them and likes to powergame. The one concept Melkor has trouble grasping is that D&D isn't a game you play to "win". Simply put, he very much has fun, but isn't fun to play with for a lot of other players; however, if you want to play a meme or evil campaign, he's your guy.
Side note: If Melkor plays with his own friend group he may also chill out for once.
Side note 2: Don't let him DM unless, again, you want the kind of campaign he'll come up with.
Side note 3: Watch your shiny math rocks. Melkor likes shiny.

Heyho Mar! Nice ask week so I'll nicely ask you:
What is a favourite "gulity-pleasure" song? And what is one of your favourite movies that came out before 2000? Have a nice day/night :D
Hi Robin!!:D Thank you for this ask! You will get one back when my brain is hopefully less mush by the end of the week. I'm so glad you joined the fandom and the server I like having you around so much!!!💚
Hmmm that is good question! I think 'guilty pleasure' is such an interesting expression bc why should we feel guilty about something we enjoy? Anyway I think for me, the songs that are guilty pleasures are that because they are very emotional in this 'over the top'/epic or like, in a way that is considered 'easy to consume' way. I think this is because no matter how much I rationally think differently, my instinct is to not show people that I have human emotion HAHA. Also because society likes to tell us that 'easily consumable' pop culture made simply for pleasure and 'the feels' is somehow not cool or quality taste. I'm trying to undo both! Songs such as 'One', 'I surrender', 'Unbreak My Heart', 'Life For Rent', 'Jolene', 'Don't Think Twice, It's Alright', a lot of the ballads by Roxette like 'Listen To Your Heart', are all on that list for me, like I would be embarrassed playing them in front of others but as I said I'm working on them not being guilty pleasures!! So thank you for aiding me in my process😅
Ohh as for movies that's a fun specific question too, it made me think of some of the movies that I was introduced to by my parents growing up that I still like (once again you get a whole list sorry):
Life Is Beautiful, Legends of the Fall, (like TK, I also maybe have had a bit of a thing for Brad Pitt..), A Few Good Men, Scent of a Woman, G.I. Jane, The General's Daughter (I am a pacifist but for some reason 3 military movies snuck in here? I promise they're at least kind of critical and I guess what drew me was strong women in a male dominated field..) American Beauty (I feel ambigous about watching this because of K**** S***** but it's such a good movie, same with The Usual Suspects), Erin Brockovitch is from 2000 but please let me have it (They're called boobs Ed!), Pulp Fiction.
Lion King and The Fox and the Hound were some of my favorite disnwy movies growing up ! I think Fox and the Hound would still make me cry.
And also a special shouout to on my favorite show which is from 1978. This gif contains my favorite character although I love them all, Maude, played by Malene Schwartz, the blonde one to the right:
Tumblr media
She plays an anxious childish woman trapped by her role as a housewife to the head of the town bank who grows through challenges to be more independent and also to take responsibility and stand up for others and what's right. Some favorite quotes: 'I'm going to bed' (in the middle of the day because of some minor inconvenience), 'I can drive' (when the town's only jewish guy needs to be smuggled to Sweden at the beginning of WW2 and they desperately need someone to drive the car, and 'Much could probably be different. If we dare'. She makes the funniest most scandalized expressions😂
To sum up, I think a lot of good cinema came out before 2000 and I was generally raised by parents who had a love for movies and introduced me to a lot of 'classics'. Looking at them today, I still think they're damn good cinema although, while a lot of them discuss class and gender and is critical and about standing up against The Man (very on par for my socialist parents) I feel that I could have been introduced to more diverse representation and that is definitely what I'm drawn to watching newer movies and shows which is what I mostly watch now ehen I have time. Although this made me think that maybe I should look into actively expanding my older movies reperoire!
I also wish I had been introduced more to the classic musicals and such I feel so behind on catching up to queer culture sometimes. I just really learned what ‘Wicked’ was for the first time when I visited @heartstringsduet in Berlin and we went to see it😅

A debate I had on Reddit about abortion rights.
The person I'm arguing with is an active participant of the Mensa subreddit, so they already fancy themselves a genius to some extent.
Me:
No arms, no legs, no heart, no brain. Just a blood vessel pumping blood from the host to the clump of cells.
And the "But there's a heartbeat" excuse is a lie. You're only hearing the host's blood pumping into cells cause the heart isn't fully formed until 10 weeks. Additionally, the brain isn't even fully developed until 24 weeks. No heart organ, no brain, it's not a viable life outside its host body.
Them:
Yeah that's an empirical argument to deny ontology. That's not convincing to anyone who thinks there is an essence to being human that isn't tied to having arms and legs.
Me:
I'm sorry, but are you trying to use philosophy to argue whether or not someone is capable of living without a heart, brain, and lungs?
Them:
How do you determine what is human and what is not? Arms and legs? What do you call someone without arms and legs? Or a mechanic heart? You can't answer the question 'what is human' based on physical qualities only. So yes, logically you cannot answer the question without philosophy.
Me:
I think you are confusing personhood with the human species.
A person is someone who can think, breathe, and exist on their own. They have a personality and their own opinions on subjects like abortion.
A human being or homo sapiens is a species on earth that evolved enough to form social groups and cultures and, therefore, are capable of personhood. Some other more complex animals might be capable of personhood, like Koko the Gorilla. She was intelligent, learned to communicate using sign language, and even had her own pet.
I'm not discussing this subject in terms of personhood. A fetus isn't developed enough to form a sense of personhood if it can't even survive on its own at 2 months gestation.
Them:
I'm talking about the essence of what makes one a living human. As long as pregnant women before the 3rd month believe they're carrying a child, which is all of them who want to *keep* the child, I am not appealed by the argument that it's suddenly no longer a child but rather a fetus for biological/scientific/empirical reasons when there are various financial and social advantages of it being so.
The points you mention are even still different from mine.
Me:
>The points you mention are even still different from mine.
Correct because again, you fail to see the point of the argument.
You yourself say;
>As long as pregnant women before the 3rd month believe they're carrying a child, which is all of them who want to *keep* the child,
That's all fine and dandy cause it's her *choice* to do so, not yours and not the government's. But it's not yours or anyone else's place to force your philosophical or religious views on an entire nation and bully us all into following them by making your opinions a law.
Them:
It's a choice to recognise a human as a human, you're saying? So where's the end to that travesty of logic? A cat is a dog, a man is a woman, that dog is a man and that man is a dog. That's a wild world you're living in. I don't see the world that way, it defeats both logic and common sense. But it surely makes a way to justify doing whatever the hell you like doing. I won't force morality on you, but I'll tell you when it's absent.
Me:
Again, you're trying to use philosophy to argue science, and that gets us nowhere. I already stated I'm not talking from a philosophical standpoint.
You can see the world however you want. Your morals aren't always going to line up with your neighbors morals. Your neighbor might think it's immoral to eat any kind of meat. Are you gonna give up that steak dinner cause they can smell it in their living room? How would you feel if the entire government decided eating meat is a crime and, therefore, it's banned and you go to jail just for eating a hamburger. Kinda sucks when other people force their philosophy and religion on you by passing laws to get their way.
Now I know you're gonna be like, "But you can't compare pregnancies to diets!" But you're already equating philosophy with science. So, let me give you another scenario.
Do you like eggs? Eggs are just undeveloped chickens who were denied the ability to develop and hatch. Will you give up your eggs and bacon just because your vegan neighbor says it's immoral?
Since to you personhood and human are one and the same. Say aliens decide to visit earth; they have arms and legs and a brain, can speak, express emotions, and have their own culture. Are they human? Do we give them the same rights as you and me even though they weren't born on earth and are basically invading our planet? Or are they just displaying personhood?
If you say yes, they are human and deserve the same rights as you and me, then you also need to give those same rights to the "illegal aliens" that cross the border.
Why are undeveloped fetuses given more rights to life than families with children who are trying to seek a better life? Why do we value a fetus over the actual baby? Once it's born, if the mother says she needs help, she's scorned and looked down on for asking for WIC, foodstamps, and cash benefits to help feed and cloth her baby. She should have thought of that before deciding to have a baby, right? But if she decides she's unable to afford a baby, and she can't afford to take time off because the pregnancy is making it hard for her to work, she's called a murderer for seeking an abortion.
To pro-life advocates, a fetus is more important before it's born than after it's born. And you won't convince me otherwise. The same people pushing for abortion bans, banning mifepristone (a drug that's also necessary to help with incomplete miscarriages), and even simple birth control are the same people who vote to cut funding to welfare programs, free lunch programs, and to entire school districts. That's not very pro-life of them now, is it?
-------
They gave up the argument after that.
I could have converted this into a rant solely from my perspective, but I felt it would be better just to copy it as a script.
Pro-lifers are not actually pro-life. They are just anti-women and anti-choice. If they actually cared about the fetus, they would care about it after its born by passing laws and regulations that would ensure the child has the best quality of life possible and every chance to succeed. Instead, time and again, they vote against those laws.
They don't care about the fetus once it's born. Why is that? Could it be that their true goal all along is to force women back into submission because they romanticize the bygone era of the 1800s and early 1900s when women didn't hold jobs, didn't vote, and couldn't do anything without their husband's explicit permission?
I dunno, that's just the vibe I get from the anti-choice supporters. Why else would they say things like, "Stop riding dick if you can't take accountability." But then start foaming at the mouth when you remind them accountability goes both ways. When's the last time they made a child support payment?

Rate your OCs traits!
I was tagged by @feaches and @lucaanis thank you Pookies <3
Doing this for my Rook, Odrune Ingellvar, for now (i may revisit with a new rook I have been cooking up)
No pressure tags for @antivan-sprig @hightowerqueen @flushwithdarlings and any one else who has neat roook, pls tag me I love to see these!
Tumblr media
Compassion 8/10 - Rune hates to see other suffering needlessly, she will do everything she can to help a desperate or vulnerable person but all of her sympathy dies the second she labels that person as a problem. Anyone who seeks to hurt an innocent or anyone she loves, it is game over, your a science experiment now buddy <3
Bitterness 9/10 - Grew up in the gallows of kirkwall, need I say anymore?
Happiness 6/10 - She does try to get the most out of whatever situation she's in, knowing that it could easily get much worse at any given time. She determined to survive and thrive, and to not let anyone purposefully take that from her
Tumblr media
Politeness 1/10 - While she doesn't intend to come across as rude necessarily, 15 years in Kirkwall and the gallows + 15 more in the necropolis don't bode well for her social skills. She comes off as blunt and off-putting
Chivalry 5/10 - I wouldn't say chivalrous in the traditional sense by any means, but she would go out of her way to help those she cares for, and would just as easily help a stranger if she thought it wouldn't endanger anyone she loves
Pride 3/10 - She thinks ego and pride are a waste of time time, but it would be dishonest to say she has no pride herself, she mostly prides herself on having survived, and being willing to push boundaries that others won't which ended up requiring her to let go of a lot of pride, and be willing to stand beside her actions and choices while also recognizing that they may make her a worse person
Tumblr media
Honesty 4/10 - you could trust her with your life, but if you want a straight answer out of her you'll have to beat her with a stick, she won't tell you a damn thing about her prior life, only sharing when its entirely necessary. She'll also lie and cheat in every game you could possibly teach her
Bravery 7/10 - She has no fear of a dangerous situation when the odds are worth the risk, but she also has no shame in get the fuck out of dodge when the situation calls for it
Recklessness 9/10 - has absolutely no qualms putting herself and certain others at risk as evidence by learning blood magic on templars in kirkwall, and the blatant suicide mission trying to stop solas' ritual
Tumblr media
Ambition 2/10 - she should be at the club, not in charge of whatever the fuck this is
Loyalty 8/10 - She is loyal as a dog to those she comes to trust and respect, basically against her will. She despises how attatched she gets and actively tries to avoid working closely with others, which is relatively easy working with demons in the necropolis. She is fucking sick to her stomach every time she has to add a new stray to the lighthouse
Tumblr media
Love 9/10 - She cares incredibly deeply, and loves very very hard once she falls, despite how hard she tries to avoid it, she nearly gives her life for Neve at one point, only surviving because Lucanis drug her to Emmrich in time.
Sense of family 2/10 - essentially everyone she considered family is dead as hell (Hawke, Anders, even Varric unbeknownst to her) her whole view of the concept is that it is essentially useless at this point. Despite how loyal she is tp those she cares for, she won't allow herself to truly see them as family or a permanent fixture in her life
Attractiveness 10/10 Y'all have eyes <3
Tumblr media
Agility 4/10 - She's 6'2 and built like a 17th century milk maid, so while she not necessarily fast she is sturdy, She loves close quarters combat and has mastered her orb and dagger as a result, managing an odd tank/mage position
Sex drive 9/10 An absolute freak, sex is the one form of human connection she's always found control in, and she seeks it out frequently as a result. I also imagine the sex culture in the necropolis is also freaky as hell, and has influenced her tastes.

youtube
Okay, I'm a data nerd. But this is so interesting?!
She starts out by looking at whether YouTube intense promotion of short-form content is harming long-form content, and ends up looking at how AI models amplify cultural biases.
In one of her examples, Amazon had to stop using AI recruitment software because it was filtering out women. They had to tell it to stop removing resumes with the word "women's" in them.
But even after they did that, the software was filtering out tons of women by doing things like selecting for more "aggressive" language like "executed on" instead of, idk, "helped."
Which is exactly how humans act. In my experience, when people are trying to unlearn bias, the first thing they do is go, "okay, so when I see that someone was president of the women's hockey team or something, I tend to dismiss them, but they could be good! I should try to look at them, instead of immediately dismissing candidates who are women! That makes sense, I can do that!"
And then they don't realize that they can also look at identical resumes, one with a "man's" name and one with a "woman's" name, and come away being more impressed by the "man's" resume.
So then they start having HR remove the names from all resumes. But they don't extrapolate from all this and think about whether the interviewer might also be biased. They don't think about how many different ways you can describe the same exact tasks at the same exact job, and how some of them sound way better.
They don't think about how, the more marginalized someone is, the less access they have to information about what language to use. And the more likely they are to have been "trained," by the way people treat them, to minimize their own skills and achievements.
They don't think about why certain words sound polished to them, and whether that's actually reflecting how good the person using that language will be at their job.
In this How To Cook That video, she talks about the fact that they're training that type of software on, say, ten years of hiring data, and that inherently means it's going to learn the biases reflected in that data... and that what AI models do is EXAGGERATE what they've learned.
Her example is that if you do a Google image search for "doctor," 90% of them will be men, even though in real life only 63% are men.
This is all fascinating to me because this is why representation matters. This is such an extreme, obvious example of why representation matters. OUR brains look at everything around us and learn who the world says is good at what.
We learn what a construction worker looks like, what a general practitioner doctor looks like, what a pediatrician looks like, what a teacher looks like.
We look at the people in our lives and in the media we consume and the ambient media we live through. And we learn what people who matter in our particular society look like.
We learn what a believable, trustworthy person looks like. The kind of person who can be the faux-generic-human talking to you about or illustrating a product.
Unless we also actively learn that other kinds of people matter equally, are equally trustworthy and believable... we don't.
And that affects EVERYTHING.
Also, this seems very easy to undo -- for AI, at least.
Like, instead of giving it a dataset of all the pictures of doctors humans have put out there, they could find people who actively prefer diverse, interesting groups of examples. And give the dataset to a bunch of them, first, to produce something for AI to learn from.
Harvard has a whole slew of really good tests for bias, although I would love to see more. (Note: they say things like "gay - straight, " but it's not testing how you feel about straight people. It's testing whether you have negative associations about gay people, and it uses straight people as a kind of baseline.)
There must be a way for image-recognition AI software to take these tests and reveal how biased a given model is, so it can be tweaked.
A lot of people would probably object that you're biasing the model intentionally if you do that. But we know the models are biased. We know we all have cultural biases. (I mean. Most people know that, I think.)
Anyway, this is already known in the field. There are plenty of studies about the biases in different AI programs, and the biases humans have.
That means we're already choosing to bias models intentionally. Both by knowingly giving them our biases, and by knowing they'll make our biases even bigger. And we already know this has a negative impact on people's lives.

The First Slayer
I honestly like some parts of her characterisation. A mysterious figure, she haunts the dreams of the slayer line that descended from her, delivering cryptic warnings and advice. It could be so good.
The First Slayer (Sineya) is introduced in the final episode of S4 'Restless' she is angry and aggressive, attacking the scooby gang after they used magic to interfere with the pre-existing slayer magic in the previous episode. She tells Buffy that death is her gift as a spirit guide in S5. In S7 she appears in Buffy's dream to tell her it's not enough, inspiring her to activate the potentials. That's it. Three episodes.
The only other time we learn about her is in the magical time exchange episode of S7 'Get it done'. Although she's not in the episode we learn how she became the slayer. A girl who was chained down and imbued with the powers of a demon in order to fight them. And if she died, who cares? Easily replaced by the next girl. I'd be angry too.
I don't actually know when they gave her the name Sineya, she is credited on IMDb as 'primitive'. The racism is about as subtle as a brick to the face. Unnamed, unkempt, animalistic, aggressive. The men who 'made' her wear actual clothes, made of cloth, they wouldn't look out of place in the modern day. Where and when she's from is incredibly unclear; Africa is a big place with hundreds of cultures and climates. It seems they were going for prehistory but after the invention of chains and metal weapons.
Now onto the dialogue, the intentional writing that can't be passed off as laziness, or oversight.
When talking about the slayer Sineya describes herself:
“I have no speech. No name. I live in the action of death, the blood cry, the penetrating wound. I am destruction. Absolute... Alone.”
The point they're trying to make is that Sineya doesn't really exist, she is the Slayer. That is her duty. The point of her existence. The Slayer is who she is and who she thinks Buffy should be. This is a central theme to the series as a whole, can Buffy be more than her responsibilities?
Theoretically this is fine, Sineya grew up in a different, more dangerous time, with true demons around every corner. As the first Slayer she sees it as her responsibility to commit fully to the role and save her people from all the bad in the world. But we already have Kendra for that, we don't need all the black slayers (including Nikki but she's a bit less important to the overall story) to be devoted to the cause at the expense of anything and everything else. We could have met Sineya as a child, pre-slayer: a young girl trying to find happiness in a dark world. Did she have hobbies? Friends? Family? Why was she chosen? Was she alone before she became the Slayer? No family to advocate for her, protect her from the shadow men? Maybe she had already killed a vampire, she was already a fighter and that's why they chose her. Maybe she just liked to pick flowers and they chained her to the ground and performed magic on her because they were too scared to volunteer themselves. We don't know.
The next piece of dialogue I want to highlight is something Buffy says to Sineya as a rebuttal of her worldview:
"There's trees in the desert since you moved out, and I don't sleep on a bed of bones."
This manages to be racist in two ways, to both the people and ecology of Africa. Deserts are overflowing with life, they have trees and flowers and reptiles, birds, amphibians, insects, and mammals. If they were barren no-one would live there. Secondly no one sleeps on bones, that's not a thing Buffy/Joss. It's uncomfortable and impractical. I have less to say about this one but it annoys me more.
How could this be different?
Personally I like that she doesn't have a name when she's first introduced, it was a long time ago and I think it builds into a story thread of older men deciding what's best for the Slayer, ripping away her humanity and making her into a weapon. This can be reworked into Buffy searching for the humanity in the first Slayer, finding out her name and honouring her in a way history (and the watchers) never have. In the flashback to her becoming the slayer we could learn even more, see her life as a regular human, was she specifically chosen or was she just convenient, what was her favourite colour? I already mentioned some options above so I won't labour the point.
With more appearances she could have gone from a mysterious, helpful but scary figure into a fully realised person over the course of the series. It would fit thematically and we'd have one less underdeveloped black character in BtVS.

A Wonderful Life Ahead (4)
Masterlist
Part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4: Mentor coding | part 5
There is this something about pregnancy or someone carrying a baby, a little glow in the person, life is blooming in more than one way and it can be seen.
Your family and friends tend to gasp in surprise, fear even, when they see your scarred hands, looks like you were not only burned but also electrified, yours aren't as bad as others, burning sensation pops back from time to time, but is mild, still, it doesn't stop Blurr's concern over the phantom pain or when you remember it, noticing right at the moment when he catches you rubbing your hands or simply staring at them before kissing your hands to drive the pain away, just like humans say.
Or maybe it's his mentor coding kicking in.
"Looking good there, Blurr"
"You bet"
It's part of parenthood as it seems, and you wouldn't change your marks for nothing when you see your husband going on his way, carrying around your two babies in his cockpit, both safely tucked in pillows and blankets while sleeping soundly.
"Who would have thought you would be such a good carrier"
Everyone jokes and laugh with good intentions when they see Blurr like this, going slow by his own standard but still showing Blaster his raised middle digit, something he learned from humans, with a smirk on his face, his sudden movement making Ty move a little and chirp but settling down when Blurr stopped his movement all together to flop back to the blankets.
"Good in there little buddy?" You ask when Blurr can finally return to your side, looking at Ty sleep without a care while Ripley's mop of hair is even worse now that her head is trying to stay under a blanket in order to avoid any light from the outside world, you've been inside Blurr's cockpit before, you know how comfortable it can be and maybe feel a little jealous to see your previous napping place take over by the little babies.
"He is out like a light" Blurr comments with a laugh, putting down the new glasses that he got back from a table, and none was crushed! Almost a personal win for him, specially with his tired optics while you see how he keeps on looking at the kids.
There was this funny fact that was, apparently, the most similar thing to feelings or instincts of parenthood, sire or carrier coding they said, most commonly referred as mentor coding, every bot had those but the activation came when they were in charge of a sparkling or a young bot.
Since most cybertronians didn't go along their supposed frame it was certainly a surprise when somebot called Blurr a carrier for the first time, he had Ripley's baby basket on his cockpit to everyone to see, almost showing off his baby, Blurr was kind enough to tell you that the bot that took the sparkling in their cockpit, or always at their side, was called carrier, in reality it made a lot of sense, but you were surprised again when somebots called you "Blurr's sparkling's sire".
Even after years of living on Cybertron you still experienced cultural whiplash.
You could compare the time when Ripley was born and the moment Typhoon was forged, and see how much frantic he became with it, it started small, just like Ty, like having the desire to put the child in his cockpit everytime, quite normal if you were honest, it happened before, then you could feel Blurr move in your shared berth and finally stopping his recharge, seconds before a little cry could be hear from Typhoon's little crib, taking the sparkling in his servos and try to coax him back to sleep with what you noticed was cybertronian, this also affected his interaction with Ripley, if your little girl was in necessity of something, clothes, food or whatever, Blurr disappeared for a few seconds or minutes and came back with whatever she needed in a flash of light.
At that time you were almost forgotten in a corner, looking at your husband be more attentive to the kids, it was normal, totally so, but you found yourself wanting to experience him near again in more than one way, your own desire fueled by seeing him be so good with the kids.
Of course, most of the sexual intercourse was postponed or the mood ruined when Blurr and you heard crying from any place near, you just accepted to live with it since is normal even for human relationship to put down sex in order to raise kids from time to time.
Still, when Ty was finally out on his first day of education, as in downloading history on his processor, and after Blurr teared a bit over it, he found his way back to work, the whole day going smoothly and without a problem, maybe you felt a little more watched and that should've been a warning but you were so focused on your own that not even a fraction of suspicion crossed your mind when Blurr became more hands on than other times when he helped you around the bar, being a little more protective of you when a fight started and you couldn't lie about how hot it was that he almost used his whole big body to protect you, but no, you corrected yourself, he didn't had that in his mind now and you wouldn't go against his mentor coding, either way, he would talk to you, right?
"When do we expect the next little spark?" maybe Slag's words hold more meaning than what you gave credit for even in his drunk state when he was going out of the closed bar later that cycle.
Or you could at least hear Blurr getting closer to you, or be less surprised when he said your name followed by a "sweetspark" in a tone that you haven't heard in a very long time before being lifted several meters in the air without more warning.
Maybe you could've be prepared for the moment that you felt your husband's servos holding you against the wall, totally out of character, his optics brighter than ever while looking at you in the same way he did when sex or interface was finally a thing between you two back when you were only dating, interface panel open and showing you that just as you missed him in this aspect of life he did so too.
Another funny fact is how once the mentor coding kicks in it tries to keep on, something that many cybertronians see as good nowadays that it's important to increase the population numbers.
But maybe it has changed for Blurr or any other bot that had a human conjunx (you'll ask later in the group chat), you are an organic, and you know they don't reproduce like your species, still, he looks so moved while kissing you, one servo delicately holding your head in place while his spike is been pressed against the wall to give him any contact while he keeps you near his faceplate, something is dripping and you bet is his valve, there is something else in this but you really can't bring yourself to think about it when you feel his first digit touching where you want him the most.
"Someone is eager-" you couldn't even finish when he continued to kiss you desperately, for a moment you thought of the kids again only to remember that they had sleepover parties with friends out of the house, meaning that this would go on all the night cycle and that Blurr may have moved the dates to the same day to have this private time alone.
You wouldn't complain since Blurr needed more time to prepare you, it has been a long time after all.
Next thing you knew, Blurr had his spark chamber open.

Tumblr media
Hi this is the post explaining the au.
The “How Did We Get Here AU” is an idea that’s been marinating in my brain for a while now. It’s time to finally talk about it.
As stated in Zimvoid, every Zim has a thing. This Zim’s thing is that he was assigned to go to Earth way earlier than in canon. When they get there, his spaceship malfunctions resulting in it crashing right into the Membrane household. He assumes Gaz and Prof dead as Dib is the only one showing any signs of life.
Zim’s leg got injured in the crash and so he decides to postpone invading Earth for when they heal. They leave Earth for the time being, but decide to take Dib with them as they think an alien life form might be useful.
Then, still loyal to the Empire, Zim returns to Irk to watch Operation Impending Doom II unfold. Around the same time, Zim also has to amputate its lower right leg, as an infection settles in.
As time goes by Zim tries to plan out his Earth invasion. He communicates with the Tallest, or rather tries, they ignore or ridicule him most of the time. The thing is, Zim is actually making progress, his creations are good. The Tallest however don’t care due to Zim’s record.
Tumblr media
While all that is going on, Zim is also taking care of the human he took from Earth. He mostly treats him like one would a pet, it is a child after all, not very smart. He knows the very basics when it comes to human needs. Zim does not know the child’s name, nor does he want to name them. Dib gets the nickname “Stinky” (playing on how Zim uses the word Stink quite lot in the canon)
Time passes and Zim cuts ties with the Empire. They’ve done nothing but disrespected him despite his trials. They failed to provide for him as an Invader. Cutting ties also means moving out. For a while Zim and Stinky just jump between different planets to see what sticks. They’re trying to avoid Irken colonies, but don’t exclude them completely.
When Stinky gets even older, Zim sees some form of intelligence in the alien. They start schooling him for something like a second GIR. Stinky is very much interested in the technology shown so he obeys.
They make their (hopefully) forever home on Cyberflox. It’s hard at first, it isn’t the most friendly environment, but they manage to get by. Stinky seems to do fairly good. He gets along with most citizens and figures out ways to deal with the unwelcoming planet. Eventually the same happens to Zim, the aliens “warmed up” to them as they’re no longer an Invader, nor in support of the Empire.
While Zim did cut ties with the Empire, there are Irkens it still talks with to have an idea of what is going on in there.
Hey, let's talk about Dib.
Tumblr media
Dib is fully aware of not being Irken, however he tries to blend in. She styles her hair similar to an Irken antenna. She’s learned the alphabet and knows her way with Irken technology. They are really persistent on getting a PAK of their own, they believe they can modify it to fit a human. Zim however insists that he doesn’t need one.
Dib knows fairly little about Earth. Zim did provide him with some information on Earth, but it is very lacking. The most visible human thing about either is their wardrobe.
Tumblr media
Stinky is in no way, shape or form recognized as a child of Zim (or whatever the alien equivalent would be). He’s merely a person living in the same place as Zim. Zim doesn’t like acknowledging Stinky as its child, Dib however mostly refers to Zim as dad.
Dib is open to learning about alien cultures and is somewhat fluent in different alien dialects. He’s enthusiastic about machinery design and focuses on becoming a robotics engineer. Yet their enthusiasm sometimes leads to mistakes that can cause a need to start over. From scratch.
While Zim is rather cold and hostile to the idea of being a parent, then he does care for the kid.
AND the care is mutual, when needed - Dib will provide to the best of her abilities for Zim.
The two enjoy working on tech together, participate in usual child-parent activities and often go to just have fun on Cyberflox. Zim takes Stinky with him almost everywhere he goes. He knows Dib would most likely be fine left alone, but there is that irk of worry. They're often snarky to each other, but never abusive. So yeah, that's it. That's the au.

Thinking about the guy ever... I feel like Olmi would have a bit of an interesting dynamic with the other characters so im gonna put how they would feel about em down below . for funnies
Marmors in general: Olmi's relationship with the marmors is a bit complicated. On one hand they should feel grateful, because they would've died in space had their spaceship not been taken in. Plus if they find their planet's location, Olmi will be reunited with his family and people. But on the other, the marmors treat them like a toy or a pet almost. In the vault they're kind of treated as entertainment for the marmors, only getting a window into the other room or hall after asking many, many times. They're not seen as equals and they don't like it very much. Plus, once they escape their cell and learn of whats happening to Teegarden and what the marmors do to the planets they find, Olmi is less trusting of them.
Ward: Too big. But pretty calm and quiet, much like olmi. I think between the two humans, Olmi would trust Ward a bit more just because he's more straightforward with his words than Oscar, and more serious.
Oscar: I imagine Oscar talks quickly and he talks a lot, which makes it a bit hard for Olmi to understand him sometimes. They see Oscar as an older sibling like Olmi themself, based on the care he shows for Alcor, and they find their relationship familiar to Olmi's with his family and younger siblings.
Holly: Olmi finds Holly very confusing. When they first meet they assume he's human like the other two, but I don't think they would fully grasp the shapeshifting. Both of their cultures seem to kind of be based around helping the planet/stewarding the ecosystems (I'm not too sure for Teegarden, but based on what we know, how helpful they are to each other, etc. I think it makes sense to say that) so I think they can relate to that. After Olmi learns about what is happening on Teegarden they would want to help, maybe because they don't want to see a planet with life so similar to their own get extinguished.
Ecliptica: I'm not sure if Olmi would know Ecliptica very well. From the way Oscar talks about her I think they'd gather that she is the leader of the marmors, and by extension Olmi wouldn't be super fond of her. Plus based on her treatment of Oscar I think Ecliptica would see Olmi based on their usefulness to her.
Sculptor: Pretty much the same for the rest of the marmors, although because sculptor is actively trying to find where their planet is by going through their memories, collaborating with other marmor ships maybe, etc., they feel the need to try and stop him, as well as stopping him from hurting others within the vault.
Alcor: scary . its like a marmor but their size. hate. but also kind of reminds them of their younger siblings in a way, so they mostly just avoid him.
