I'm doing a reading challenge next month and one of the prompts is a rec from someone who doesn't read for fun. (I would like to read it because I have not read many Black stories involving the emergence/birth of the Black Lives Matter movement, which was a very formative time in my life.)

Mortal Follies: In an 1814 England full of fairies and sorcerers, Miss Mitchelmore attempts to enter society and is faced by a frustrating curse. Lady Landrake – who is rumored to have killed her family to inherit her title – may have the magic Miss Mitchelmore needs to survive. (I would like to read it because it's the first sapphic romance from my favorite romance author.)

Chain-Gang All-Stars: In a dystopian near-future where prison convicts star in reality-style television competition shows, two women – a couple – must fight each other for freedom. (I would like to read it because it seems like a unique approach to social-issue sci-fi, and I have not read many stories directly critical of the US prison system.)

Wordslut: A nonfiction linguistic exploration of how language has been used throughout the history of English to oppress, degrade, and subjugate women. (I would like to read it because I find linguistics fascinating, and I get very passionate about gender equality.)

Why Women Have Better Sex Under Socialism: A spirited, deeply researched exploration of why capitalism is bad for women and how, when done right, socialism leads to economic independence, better labor conditions, better work-life balance and even better sex. (I would like to read it because the author seems both extremely educated and funny, and I get very passionate about gender equality.)

The Pallbearers Club: Art started an after school club for volunteer pallbearers at poorly attended funerals, and makes a friend who seems fascinated by the resulting death that surrounds him. Strange things happen when this friend is around, but he brushes it off in the name of friendship. As an adult, Art is writing a memoir, attempting to make sense of everything that happened when they were teens; but this friend got her hands on the manuscript, and she has some notes. (I would like to read it because I have a deep fascination – perhaps obsession – with meta-texts, or books about books, or books involving books, particularly if they lean in a horror/thriller direction.)

10 Things That Never Happened: When Sam's boss Jonathan schedules a difficult meeting, Sam's nerves lead to him tripping and bumping his head – and then accidentally implying he's lost his memory. Faking amnesia started as a plan to avoid getting fired, but now Sam has to deal with Jonathan's guilt and figuring out how to break the truth to him. (I would like to read it because it's in the London Calling universe, which is my favorite books from my favorite romance author.)

Black Sun: In a high fantasy world, the celestial phenomenon of a solar eclipse aligns with the winter solstice. A cast of characters are poised at the start of a journey. (I would like to read it because I haven't read a Rebecca Roanhorse before.)

The Child Thief: A re-imagining of Peter Pan from the mind of the horror artist Brom. (I would like to read it because I love Peter Pan as a horror story, and I've not read a Brom book before.)

Maurice: As a young man in Edwardian England, Maurice struggles into adulthood, grappling with unrequited love and coming to terms with his homosexuality. (I would like to read it because I find the movie achingly beautiful, and I have seen quotations from this book that feel the same.)

White is for Witching: Twins Miranda and Eliot – along with their father Luc – mourn the loss of their mother Lily, who simply disappeared one day. The house is also unhappy, trapping visitors and forcing plants into overgrowth. Miranda is more attuned to the ghosts of women in the walls than she is to her brother & father, and one day, vanishes altogether. (I would like to read it because I've enjoyed other works by this author, and this one seems sufficiently spooky.)

“ WHO are you.” Gaz came back into the room just as König ask you with accusation tone. " OH YOU are awake!" "... Gaz?" Another stab to the heart. He remembers Gaz, but not you?

"... I will go and get the doctor." Before Gaz could stop you, you excuse yourself and slip out of the room.

You bit down on your lip, trying hard not to let your tears spill over as you fast walk towards the nurse station.

The nurse and the doctor rush towards the room and check on König, while you stood outside, too scared to go back in. Few minutes later you heard the door open, and closes softly. " Hey... What's wrong?" " He DOESN'T REMEMBER ME AT ALL Gaz... he is treating me like a stranger!" You finally burst out crying. Grabbing onto his shirt you can't stop your tears flowing. Gaz was loss for words, he doesn't know how to console you.

" The doctor is checking on him now.. I am sure they will have an answer.. Do you want to come back in?"

You shook your head. " Mini." You hear your brother calling out to you, he frowned as he saw your puffy red eyes. " Hey, what's wrong?" Turning to Gaz, " Did something happened or what did you say to her?" " Wow, calm down, It's not me..." The doctor came out from the room, looking at the three of you. "Seems everything is fine with him, apart from some memory losses, we will keep him in for another few days for further observation before discharging him." Gaz and Soap thank the doctor quietly. " .... Can you grab my stuff please? I think... I might head back to London. I can't take anymore time off. There's a lot of stuff needs to be done at work." You whispered softly. König heard the girl sobbing outside his room. The way she looked at him, the hurt in her eyes when he ask the question. He feels like he should know her, but he has absolutely no memory of who she is, or meeting her. He felt like a dick but years of bullying his defence mechanism just went up automatically when he meet strangers. The last thing he remembered was Ghost covering them while the team trying to exfil out of the site after bad intel. He was shot trying to cover for Soap... and Ghost was sniping the enemies chasing them down... They manage to get to the helicopter and..? He blacked out afterwards. Gaz updated him as he picks up few stuff and putting them in a bag from the corner. " You feeling alright?" " Ja..." He look down at his own hand. He wants to ask Gaz about the girl's identity, but he stepped out again with the bag, before the door closes, he caught a glimpse of her with back to the door, talking quietly to Soap and clearly very upset from her tone of voice. Soap looked up and frown at him.

Later that night, Ghost was sitting in the room with him, on the couch reading. Gaz mention briefly the girl and rest of the 141 team had been by his side for the last week or so while in coma. But where is the girl now? He felt guilty he might have scared her off. But there was something else... He set his tablets down, after trying to catch up with the mission report to what happened between the time he was sent to hospital and then post mission reports. Getting tired quickly from his injury even with just doing light reading. He needed a quick break. Leaning back into the pillow and turn to grab the glass of water on the side table, That's when he notice a small wooden teddy bear carving. "... You gave that to her after the first date." Flipping a page, Ghost quietly mentioned without looking up from his book. Date? You two went on dates? "You asked her parents permission for marriage few months ago as well." König couldn't believe his ears. Him? having a relationship is one thing, and talks of marriage?

Ghost put his book down, looking straight into König 's eyes. " I know this is out of your control. But it pains me to see her like this." König  could see something different in Ghost's eyes. A warning. "...Who is she to you." König asked.

"She's very important to me." Ghost pick his book back up again, lightly deflect the question.

The rest of the night was spent in silence.

You feel absolutely miserable.

It has been over two month after you have returned from Germany. You had no contact with König afterwards.

The 141 boys has message and rang you to check on see how you were going.

" You sure you feeling alright with the situation Mini.." Soap asked worryingly. " I am fine. Don't worry about me Johnny. As long as he is fine, and healthy. I am happy with that." You comforted your brother instead. But you are not. Knowing how König is with his social anxiety, you don't want to push him or scare him too much , especially after a severe injury. All you can do it wait.

You cry yourself to sleep everyday.

König don't know what to do with you. He went home to Austria for few more weeks of rest after he was discharged from hospital. KorTac has not clear him to return to field mission yet, so he uses this chance to go home and spend time with his parents and grandparents. "So when are you bringing Mini to Austria and meet the family? You been gushing about her all the time and we still haven't met her in person!" König's mother enquired one day. " Your Oma was asking the other day if you were going to finally give her a great grandchild." König didn't know how to respond to that. He hasn't exactly told his parents about the extent of injury. All they know was he was " Slightly more injured than usual " so had to spend little bit of time in the hospital. " .. Um. She said she's very busy with work lately, so.. I'll um. ask her again sometime." White lies. His doctor and therapist has stressed to him not to push himself too hard, let the time do the healing. They reassure him. He remembers everything before the event, EVERYTHING BUT YOU. Everything that has anything in relation to you, gone. LIke someone has just press delete button and wiped it all out and make space for other things.

He been going through his phone, all the photos, messages and little gifts that you have given him after he returned home. Trying to find that connection you two shared.

"Can't wait to see you again!" " Thank you for your little gift. I love it!" " Please pass on my thanks to your mother and Oma for the lovely scarf and mitten. they are very warm." "You have time to come and meet my parents?"

“Ich liebe dich,Liebling” The the last photo he has on the phone was a selfie of yourself, wrapped around in a thick scarf, and it was snowing in the background, Must have been pretty cold, König thought. But that cold temperature is thawed by your brilliant smile. I miss that smile. König thought. I miss that smile? He realised, that little bit of familiar feeling, starting to come back. He decided to sent you a message.

DING, DING, DING You groaned as you hide your head under the pillow. You just fell asleep from finishing straight double shift. Try to bury yourself into work, keeping busy so you don't have to think about all the stuff that has been happening. " MINI, you are killing yourself with work." Emma warned you one day. " I hardly see you at home now, even at work! You aren't even spending time with me for coffee break... " DING! " GAH!" You flipped around and pick up the phone. If it's Gaz I am gonna tell Johnny to twist his ears off, you cursed in your mind. -- Hi. -- Um. I hope it's ok to message you -- I was thinking König. You shot up from your bed. You feel your breath quicken. Calm down. you told yourself. -- Do you mind if we can meet up and talk?

Nibbling your lip. You closed your eyes and thought about it for few minute before you summon up the courage to reply.

Two weeks later. At the cafe you had your first date. You sat outside under the umbrella. It's end of summer, but you can feel bit of coolness in the breeze. Wearing a sundress you remember König had once commented how lovely it looks on you while fidgeting and don't know where to look with his eyes. You smiled at the memory. Suddenly a large shadow appeared. Looking up, there he is. " Hi." Minus the huge trench coat, he was wearing exactly what he wore the day of meeting as well. You can see his new scar across the side of his forehead, still healing. "... Hi.". " Have you ordered yet?" " No. I was waiting for you." " I um. I'll go get the drinks." Before you can reply, he marched into the coffee shop. Few minutes later, he came out with two orders. He set your drink in front of you. Vienna coffee. Just the way you like it. You look up at him with incredulity. König sat down with his drink. Both of you sit there, sipping on your own drink. You smiled as he nervously pulling down his mask to drink his coffee. Just like that day. You thought. Both of you waiting for each other to say something first to break the awkward silence.

He took something out from his pocket and put it down gently on the table. " ... you left this at the hospital." The wooden teddy bear. You only realise it was missing after you came home to London, your little lucky charm, you always have it on you. You left it beside his bedside table to see if it will give him so luck to help him wake up from his coma. Is this what this meetup was for? Just to return your misplaced belonging? Nothing more? You look down into your cup, eyes starting to well with tears. The pain was starting to come back. "Liebling" Please.. Please don't call me that if you don't mean it. You shrunk back into your seat. It hurts. It hurts so much.

"... The team has been talking to me since I woke up." He began. " They try to fill me with.. what I forgot. Especially Ghost." Your head shot up. What did Simon tell him? Only you two knew what happen that night at your parent's house. " I am so sorry I hurt you.. I .. I am trying very hard to remember.." Holding out his hand across the table, you automatically reach for it. How you miss his large callous hand. You shook your head. "You can't be blamed for this... things happens.. We can't predict what happen after an injury." "I am starting to remember bits and pieces.." You look into his eyes, the beautiful Azure blue eyes. Nodding towards your coffee, " I was making coffee one day, I remembered how you love Viennese style coffee. with A LOT of cream on top." " Isn't that a bit excessive?" You remember him commented one time. " The MORE the better!" You retorted.

"The first time you came up to me and try to flirt with me.." You see his face blushing bright red. "how you like to snuggle to me when it's cold. how you smile..." lowering his voice, he added, " The way you call my name in bed.." You couldn't hold back anymore. Standing up you dive towards him, crying. "I was starting to lose hope... It hurts so much.. I try to forget about it but I couldn't... I thought I have lost my big teddy bear... the only man I love..." you rambled on with hiccup and tears. " I am so sorry.." He pulled you into his lap, burying his head into your neck. " It's not your fault.. stop apologising.." Gosh how you miss this. Staying in his embrace for a little while, savouring the contact you missed for the last few months. "Can I take you out for dinner tonight?" "You asking me out for a date?" You smiled. " .. Maybe?" He blushed. " It's always a yes for my big teddy bear." You gave him a kiss on the cheek. Finally. There's hope.

".. Ghost threatened to take you away if I don't start to remember thing. Soap was going to throw me into the ocean. To see if some seabathing will cure me." "..... Trust my brothers to say something nice." " At least Price and Gaz was little bit more subtle... Why you cracking your knuckles Liebling?" " Don't worry. I will remind them to be nice to you next time, my teddy bear. They know not to piss me off.... "

Ghost threatening as a big brother and Unrequited love person: If you are not careful, you hurting her, I am going to take her away from you. OOP. Ghost.. calm down... 141 boys have a very soft spot for Mini. Mini is very lucky to have three big brothers and one uncle to look out for her.

i dont know if this something you put a lot of thought into but it seems like you might and im curious so, what are some of your favorite themes to write about/the themes that interest you in writing or media?

Oh wow, good question. I put both a lot of thought and very little into the themes of my work. I always sit down and decide what I'm saying, and the meaning of the story, but some things always emerge in the writing. I usually discover what a story is actually about as I'm writing it. It's usually only after I finish the work that I realize what themes I had put in there, which seems like it should be bad. I think this means that a lot of my themes come through subconsciously. They're typically just...things I think about a lot.

I think the one thing I keep on coming back to is *tumblr voice* the mortifying ordeal of being known. That entire article, including the image of walking down a hundred stories of hell before reaching heaven, reconfigured my brain. It's just so damn hard to exist in a world with other people in it. There's an inevitability to hurting each other, but the love's worth it. Playing The World Ends With You at a vulnerable age primed me for obsession with this. That one quote from The Little Prince, ya know.

Generational trauma, cycles of trauma and abuse, and the long-term impact of trauma comes up a lot for me too. How being fucked up makes you fuck up others, the long-term consequences of being fucked up, the coping mechanisms we develop as a result. The ugly side of trauma and mental illness, the way we lash out and hurt people. I talk about escapism a lot, and the impact that has on you and the people around you long-term. This is usually exemplified through amnesia plotlines. This is a deep cut, but the Warchild series by Karin Lowachee had the best take on this I've read in a book.

Non-traditional love. I end up writing a lot of sibling dynamics, but I like creating unnamable and undefinable relationships. A lot of things I write just become very aro and asexual narratives. Love that saves. Love that isn't enough, but it still matters. The other side of love, which is grief.

I could go on. Forgiving yourself. Struggling to determine how to be a good person. How your identity & the intersections of your identity affect who you are. Power and power dynamics. A LOT of man vs self stories, like a lot a lot (I'm not overly interested by villains). The experience of being mentally ill and navigating the world as a mentally ill and/or disabled person. The differences between navigating the world as a man or a woman. I write a lot, so a lot of stuff tends to come up, lol. Roleswaps - fucking, somehow, for some reason, WHY, WHY DO I WRITE SO MUCH OF THEM -

Thanks for the ask, I had to do some self-reflection to answer it! I never really realize I'm writing about these things until I am, again. They're just all part of my framework of how I understand the world. Everybody has those, but when you're a writer it's easier to pull them out and microscope them.

I love Insaf and Rund they're my little guys im so glad so many people like them too 😭 when i make ocs for media i like to try and explore things that help to flesh out the world more and wizzy has SO many nonhuman peoples and there's just so much you can do ... no shade to people with human ocs of course. but personally i like exploring different things with each character i make

Krokotopia is one of my favorite worlds because i'm old and i like lizard people. it isnt without criticism (LOTS of criticism) though. i dont think ive ever seen another mander oc before (although i havent looked *that* hard, theres probably some out there!) so they were my go-to when making an oc from that world.

Insaf loves history! especially the history of magic in her world. she's often frustrated after she comes to wizard city and the library doesn't have much information on krokotopia's history, let alone things about her culture or anything before the krok dynasties came to power. after being Alhazred's student, she finds Arthur Wethersfield's teaching suuuuper lackluster in comparison. she corrects things he says about Balance magic in her mind. Insaf would be an "um, actually" girl if she wasn't nerfed with a severe anxiety disorder LMAO

she's actually really easy to anger but is just so adept at bottling it that she never shows it. this girl wants to rage so badly. magic is her outlet. she's a bit of a wildcard during duels since shes small and unassuming but VERY quickly becomes very aggressive with lots of offensive spells. she got a broomstick when she moved to wizard city but sucks at riding it and is pretty embarrassed about it (her tail throws her off-balance). she also has a pet chameleon in her dorm! its name is Sheba.

Now for Rund. i love birds and dinosaurs and corvids so a raven was a must-have for me as an oc. also its fun to put your characters through the horrors (ie a cult) and Rund definitely gets the brunt of it lmao. i haven't really ever made a character dealing with amnesia because its such a cheap plot cliché and its never done accurately to how amnesia actually works as like. a nuerological condition. so with Rund i've been really researching how it actually works so that i can portray it well.

amnesia is still not very well understood because the brain is so silly and complicated but if i were to label her with something it'd be pure retrograde amnesia. after her head injury, she can't really remember much at all about herself, and isn't familiar with ravenscar or anyone there. she CAN remember how to use runes, though, and other "muscle-memory" things. after she's sent to wizard city to recover, she starts getting some memories back over time (mostly information she got while reading, and some personal details) but memories specifically retaining to the Coven are much harder for her to remember.

Rund is also autistic (both she and Insaf are) and has some other underlying conditions that were exacerbated by both her head injury and the traumatic stress she was under. she has both motor and vocal tics, and doesn't speak much outside of echoalia. she's very easily overwhelmed so she sticks to less crowded and quieter places, which are hard to find in wizard city ... its why she and insaf hang out by the death school LMAO. no one else is ever there.

Rund uses runestones instead of a spelldeck, just like a lot of people in Grizzleheim traditionally do. she likes to shake the bag and hear them clinking together. her mount is a Death Vortex, and i rationalize it as like ... her turning into a cloud to zip around (usually so she can get on top of something and perch up there). she likes having her hood up so she can block out stimuli. Rund knows people look at her differently, which is part of why she avoids most people. she doesn't really know how to feel about being sent to Ravenwood, but supposes its better than the alternative ... though she misses Grizzleheim's snow.

Rund and Insaf met when they were assigned partner on a death class project. neither of them really had friends before that at ravenwood. Insaf doesn't expect anything of Rund or judge her for things she can't control. Likewise, Rund doesn't judge Insaf for having "unsightly" feelings, and can relate to it. they both like yapping about magic and history, and take turns talking at eachother. they have library dates where they go and point out flaws in the literature (hater activity). they're their own best company.

FCO: forced coming out au... she's maina @kingofthering and i's baby. marc and vale caught fucking in an alleyway a few months after the sepang fallout and vale comes forward to fake date marc in order to keep him from losing his ride... very much about the violence of fame and vale sort of using his influence with the media to PROTECT marc rather than harm him. a fun time with lots of fraught fake dating your ex situations. visuals here

same age au: elle @lestelledreams dropped this in my lap because shes a genius ! and two fics on ao3 were written about it which is CRAZY. basic premise is how it sounds: marc marquez is born in 1979 and they spend their early years doing a very codependent little rivalry/first love dance that gets cracked the fuck open right around the time of marc's arm injury. sweet and very y2k and very about them being stupid overly-competitve teens with REALLY different vibes and sort of. only being able to identify with each other i love it a lot

My day was uh good 🫣 it's Indian Independence day and there was this programme and um there was lots of interactions 🤭 so my introvert self was having a bit of trouble keeping up but I am back home (literally escaped more like it 😁) and hun it's no disturbance at all you can ask what you want to.

Now I do know Prapaisky fanfics but the ones where Sky proposes Pai tbh I can't think of one that's caught my attention 🫣 so I can suggest some good fanfics instead and hopefully that could be of help to you 🫣🫣 (now hun please do check the tags before you read the fic so you know it's something that is just your cup of tea and nothing triggering as well)

1. Souls of Fire (now this is a really long fic and a pretty good one if I say so myself ☺️ also there are more sequels to this story and do check this authors other works 😁)

Thirst: A Ten Year Retrospective

On June 7th, 2013, at 7:30 PM, The Hub Network aired Transformers Prime’s 60th episode. Title: Thirst. Just five episodes before the conclusion of the series (and a post-series “movie”), the last few episodes of any serialized show can have a lot weighing on them, as you need to wrap up story threads in a satisfying fashion. 

For me though, Thirst missed the mark. Pretty hard.

When this episode aired, I hated it. And when posting my grievances on Tumblr, I was met with a lot of backlash. This naturally compounded the hatred I ended up brewing for this episode, as I felt as though couldn’t even talk about it with people without hearing some seriously stupid counterpoints or outright attacks to my character over not liking an episode of a children’s cartoon to sell toys.

Well, a lot of time has passed since then. It’s been a decade and I want to lay this whole thing to rest. I was 16 and still in high school when it aired, and now I’m a whole ass married 26 year old adult with a job. So I feel that getting all of my thoughts and feelings out, while also reflecting on how the Transformers fandom (and myself) have changed, might finally quell this beast for good. Aiming for the spark, as it were.

Skip the readmore if you don’t want to encounter a genuinely and insanely long post full of rambling and Transformers media consumption.

Naturally, disclaimers, because this is the internet.

Don’t go and read this and give any guff to anyone who worked on this episode or in Transformers Prime in general. I shouldn’t have to say this. Even as I speculate over what writer’s intentions or unconscious biases were back in 2013, it still gives nobody any reason to find these people and bother them. I’m allowed to criticize a show but I see no need for anybody to send shit to people who were likely just trying to get their paycheck from Hasbro.

Another disclaimer: I don’t have any problem with people who like or love this episode. I have friends who do. And I can see what positive points about it shine out for them. But I’m still allowed to have differing feelings about it and express them. At the crux of it, I think it’s just that simple. Everybody should be able to coexist within a fandom and deal with someone not liking your favorite episode or someone loving an episode you hate.

And I think one last disclaimer: the fact is that a lot of my anger towards this episode is partially baked in due to immediate fandom reactions at the time of release and my own disappointment in the episode not being what I hoped it to be. I’m going to dissect that where possible in this post. But fundamentally, I just don’t understand people who are like “you can’t hold it against a piece of media for not being what you wanted it to be” in regards to being misled. There’s a vast difference between letting fan theories get in the way of the author’s intent and being misled due to the way something is advertised. And while yes, the show isn’t to blame for how the fandom reacted to the episode, it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. How could it not? Human brains are wired for pattern recognition. How am I supposed to forget the way I was treated for not liking this episode? How am I supposed to be objective about this short of amnesia to experience the episode for the first time all over again?

Anyways, now that that’s out of the way, let’s dive in!

Now let it be known that I was thrilled for this episode. I was an avid Transformers Prime watcher. I made a whole event around every new episode airing. And I watched the promos like a hawk. I was obsessed with Transformers Prime when it was airing and convinced that it was a masterpiece. Truly, the apex of Transformers media.

So, the promotions really emphasized the zombie aspect of this episode, with a sneak peak at what they would look like. I don’t consider myself a horror fan by any means, I’ve always been squeamish and jumpy, but I think there’s an aspect of horror that lends itself to the curious mind. I wanted this episode to be scary. Knowing the Y-7 rating, I knew that this was going to be horror that likely fell within my comfort zone while also possibly pushing the envelope a bit. After all, Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky had spoken at length about how much violence he could get under the radar in kid’s TV by having all of the “gore” be robots and aliens. I assumed that this episode was going to do much of the same.

Let me get it out of the way right now, one good thing about Thirst is the “zombicon” designs. I think they’re great. Personally would not change a thing about them, they’re pretty darn perfect.

But, being a weenie, I did try my hardest to steel myself against what the episode might throw at me. I was expecting the absolute worst they could get away with in regards to robot gore and violence and jumpscares. I wanted this episode to be scary. Sure, Y-7 scary, but still scary. I probably expected too much, given that I didn’t understand why shows stuck so hard to just 22 minute time slots at the time. But I was an easily startled kid, I figured they could still deliver... And, well... I just didn’t get that at all.

More or less, the episode rips itself into pieces. If one is being generous, about 1/3rd of the episode is veering on horror. But 2/3rds of the runtime are easily just comedic slapstick and banter between Knock Out and Starscream. While this is fine, it certainly wasn’t to my taste and was a let down. This episode obviously really really wanted to be funny and Decepticon focused. And while it was the only episode of Prime to not have a single Autobot in it, I still found its humor to be. Well.

Now, a tangent:

The writers and this series relationship with its queer-coded characters is complex and strange, to say the least. While I do love and appreciate a gay villain, it’s still very telling that the most flamboyant and clearly gay acting characters are Decepticons. Starscream in his literal stiletto heels and effeminate shrieks, Knock Out with his foppish behavior and just about everything said behind the scenes about him... It’s undeniable that they’re intended to be read as gay and it feels as though it varies from episode to episode whether them being gay is supposed to be humorous, relatable, or dastardly.

Thirst definitely feels like... The worst of this to me.

I’m going to focus more on Knock Out, just because he’s realistically more near and dear to my heart. But the fact is, I saw myself in these characters growing up. I was a young queer with no representation in the media I enjoyed. So of course I would cling to the gay, sexy robot. Regardless of if writers wanted him to be someone the audience saw themselves in, I did.

Of course, I believe at this point that everyone is familiar with “The Botcon Incident”.

[ALT TEXT : When asked at BotCon 2011, the Prime writers said that there is no designation for gay, or straight, for that matter, on Cybertron, where Transformers are created by the AllSpark, not through sexual reproductions. They also said that Knock Out is a knock out, and that the Nemesis is a very "don't ask, don't tell" place. And then they jokingly deflected the matter, claiming that Knock Out's mannerisms are not caused by any particular orientation, but are simply eccentricities caused by "a glitch in the AllSpark" the day he was created... which is unintentionally so insulting to gay people that it could create an awkward silence in the Void. ]

On one hand, Knock Out acting gay is seen as a defect. A mistake or some sort of source of humor. At the same time, there was still a lot of love given to him by the writers. In panels, they’ve expressed that they refused to let Knock Out be killed off (regardless of if any other character lived or died). Part of this was because he was really the big “original” character for the show, but part of it also definitely has to be some sort of genuine love for the character, I think.

So, it’s a weird act to juggle as a queer fan, right? The writers loved Knock Out but it feels like they still wanted to poke and jeer about how gay he was (without even really confirming him to be gay, but we can all admit he acts gay and that’s WEIRD, am I right guys).

To wrap around to Thirst: I feel like this is part of why I don’t find as much humor in the slapstick Knock Out/Starscream moments in the episode as other fans do. This feels like the most brazen and obvious part of it: the humor in the episode feels like it comes from a place of “how funny would it be to make the fags run around the ship screaming their heads off”.

By season three, the animation in this show became so beautiful and utterly expressive. And that’s a great thing. But the level to which they pushed Knock Out and Starscream’s run cycles was just... Like I get it, it’s funny when scared gay person does a silly effeminate run. Not to mention how these characters have established run cycles, we’ve seen them run before, no, in this episode they flail about helplessly because it’s sooooooo funny.

I do feel like there were undercurrents of homophobia in this show. It released in 2013 and thus was probably written back in 2012. To act like the writers room was completely devoid of the influences of homophobia would be absurd. I’m not saying that the episode is explicitly homophobic, nor that it’s homophobic to put gay characters in horror scenarios, nor that everyone who worked on Transformers Prime is a homophobe. But I am saying that this show was a product of its time, and 2012 was a very homophobic time, and that I think we can talk about that without assuming the worst in those bringing it up or the worst in everybody who worked on the media in question. Multiple things can be true at once. I just want to talk about how the vibes are off, man, it feels a little gay bash-y.

Part of what I’m trying to describe here is, to put it another way, would this episode have worked the way it did with any other characters being at the forefront? Thirst, but with say, Shockwave and Soundwave? Airachnid and Megatron? Or Arcee and Bulkhead? Or Ratchet and Wheeljack? However you switch this episode around, I’m almost positive the characters’ mere presence would not be treated as inherently comedic into itself. It feels very telling that this was a Knock Out and Starscream episode, because Knock Out and Starscream are the most obviously queer-coded characters.

Getting off of that tangent which I’m sure has already turned the few readers of this away, let me get back more into the meat of this retrospective.

Another thing that infuriated me about fan reception to this episode is that a lot of fans reduced everything to shipping wars. If there’s something that’s really changed with time in the Transformers fandom, thank fuck it’s the shipping culture. A decade ago, any and all issues I had with this episode got reduced to “You’re a KO/BD shipper and you’re angry because this episode had KO/SS moments”. To this day, I cannot express how such a dismissive and us vs. them attitude makes me see fucking red! If anything, the fan’s combative nature is what made me come to dislike KO/SS as a ship-- not the other way around.

The fact is, the banter between Knock Out and Starscream is entertaining. I do like that aspect of the episode. When they open up to one another in the bunker, it’s a really sweet moment! We have two Decepticons being vulnerable and open with each other, which is a rarity, given how cold living on the Nemesis is! It was a genuinely touching moment that gave us insight into both Knock Out and Starscream as individuals, which I really did enjoy.

The way they speak to each other throughout the episode is actually one of the things that makes me wish I could come back to this episode more (and hopefully now I can). It’s telling how they can open up to one another only to immediately throw each other under the bus the very next moment. It speaks to the Decepticon’s culture.

But anywho, there was also just the... Blatant ignoring of what actually was said in the episode to fit an agenda. Ardent “only-one-ship-may-rule” KO/SS fans insisted that Knock Out’s behavior in this episode ““proved”“ that he didn’t care about Breakdown. This thankfully has died off overtime in the fandom, now that more people can accept multiple ships coexisting in peace instead of making conflict where there doesn’t need to be any.

But even if we take shipping out of the equation entirely, you have to be either not listening or willingly deluding yourself if you think that any of Knock Out’s actions in this episode are showing that he did not care about Breakdown, regardless of if you think that relationship was lovers, friends, or just close coworkers.

“Despite your justifiable lack of regard for his human side, it doesn’t trouble you to watch what remains of your former partner endure your scientific endeavors?” “Not really. Besides, Silas once had poor Breakdown pinned to his lab table. I think my former partner would be pleased to be a part.”

This was the big exchange that really got under people’s skin. Watching it live, I loved this reaction from Knock Out. It spoke to what a sadist that he was and how he went about extracting revenge. He saw the perfect bookending of stories; Silas experimented on Breakdown, so it was only fit for Knock Out to experiment on Silas. Just as Silas had used Breakdown’s corpse as a suit to trounce around in, Knock Out would treat his body just as such. Just a shell, not any remnant of the soul that was once inside.

But certain people just heard the deadpan “not really” and just stopped listening. Like, I’m sorry, but these guys are alien robots. They probably already don’t have exactly the same feelings around corpse desecration as we do, and even if they did, Knock Out is kind of a freak anyways.

And once again, when I saw this episode, I was single. Now I’m married. I can see even more now how love can push you to weird, freakish, even ghoulish extremes. I personally could think of hardly anything more romantic than my wife torturing and experimenting on someone who wronged me. And I certainly wouldn’t be kind to someone for wearing her face in the event of her passing.

And the line “You’re no Breakdown” got wildly misinterpreted too. Somehow people thought that meant that Breakdown was “lesser” than Starscream, which... What? How? Like it’s obvious that Knock Out is contrasting his former relationship to Breakdown to the relationship he has to Starscream here. Starscream and Breakdown are vastly different people, that’s not to say anything about shipping. Once again, even if you only see Breakdown as Knock Out’s assistant, his relationship to Starscream is still vastly different to his relationship with Breakdown. Starscream is his superior officer whereas Breakdown is either on the same rung as him or a step lower. This is not a value judgement on either ship! It’s just basic chemistry and writing! One of them is a quiet brute while the other is a commanding fruit. I’m not understanding how this could lift up or put down either ship, so to see people do that (admittedly on both sides of this stupid fucking ship war) was just aggravating.

Once again, I can’t stress enough how by and large, the fandom’s attitude has shifted away from that bullshit. I see people gleefully talk about shipping all three of them together or just shipping their own favorite thing without needing to bring the other ship into it at all in an adversarial way. It’s great. Wish that could’ve been here all along. I could only imagine the kind of blood that would have been shed if someone had conducted the Transformers Husband Poll or Canon Ship Poll back in 2013, but now people can just have a good time with things the way we’re supposed to.

And then we get to the part where I actually take issue with the writing of the episode itself, regardless to fandom reaction.

Airachnid. 

Okay, so can we finally talk about this part? Because when I took issue with this when the episode aired, I got a lot of “wait and see, they still have time to do something with this”. Which. No they fucking didn’t. They opened up like five new plot points, for no reason, right at the end of the series, and then did not follow up on them at all.

I can’t wrap my head around this, even now. Why did they even take this character out of stasis? They fridged her before only to let her out for five minutes to fridge her again. This is so absurdly stupid, like I still cannot even find a silver lining to this part.

Airachnid having a hoard of zombie Insecticons on one of Cybertron’s moons did not even get a mention for the rest of the series.

What was the point of this? Legitimately, was there some sort of reason they needed to write out the Insecticons so badly? They hadn’t really been important in any regard for a long time. At that point in the show, they were barely a step above Vehicons when it came to being Decepticon cannon fodder. Was there any reason to make Airachnid extra dead with more steps? Because this doesn’t provide more closure than her already piss poor exit from the show with her being in stasis, frozen in a pod, as a trophy for Megatron.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, would have changed for the rest of Prime if Airachnid had stayed frozen in her pod and the Insecticons stayed aboard the Nemesis. I can’t think up a defense for this, I can’t conjure up an explanation, just... Why? I’m still left feeling like this was fucking strange. Maybe someone’s femdom hypnosis vampire queen fetish, I can’t fucking tell.

Now that the series is over, I’m hoping at least people can acknowledge that this was pointless, stupid, and just unnecessary. Or at least give me any reason why this isn’t the dumbest thing ever. Because this was the big thing in the actual canon of the episode that made me go “wow, that was an awful episode”.

And while I’m still left scratching my head over that, I do feel... Relieved. The more I think it over, the more I can see how the fandom has changed for the better in a lot of respects. And upon rewatching this episode, I can better see the parts that I actually like. Sure, some shit still bothers me, but I do feel better about it now.

And of course, watching Prime as it airs at 16 is a very different experience than trying to rewatch it... Basically any time once you hit your 20s. I still love Prime, but I’m older now and can see its flaws, especially since we’ve got the whole story to work with. I still recommend Prime as a starting point to people with certain tastes who wanna get into Transformers. But doing a full rewatch of the series for me is a chore now due to some of the glaring writing issues and pacing. It’s a good show, but not the pinnacle of Transformers media I used to think of it as. And that’s okay! Tempered expectations help a lot with disappointment.

With something like ten years, a lot has changed in the Transformers franchise. We now have a plethora of canon queer characters and relationships, all treated with respect. We have a nonbinary Autobot in a children’s cartoon, and I know that would have changed my world as a kid if I had grown up with that. And while it sucks that my favorite character in Transformers Prime, Breakdown, got killed off so unceremoniously, so many continuities after that have tried to make up for it by having him survive and thrive.

Another positive note is the way my feelings for this episode have impacted my real life.

Back when my wife was still just my girlfriend, I ranted and raved to her about how much I hated this episode. How stupid it was. How it was the worst episode of the whole show. Back then, she had no interest in any media pertaining to robots, let alone Transformers. But something about how passionate that got me made her curious. She checked out Thirst, and concluded that if that was the worst the Transformers Prime had to offer, then it might be a pretty good show overall. She ended up watching Prime, and with that gateway, I was able to get her to watch and enjoy more Transformers media. Which lead to more robot media as a whole. Now we have so many more fandoms and shows that we enjoy together, all because my hate boner for this episode piqued her interest! Sharing my love of robots with my wife has been a wonderful facet of our relationship and I simply don’t know how we would have gotten there without this entry way!

All of this to say... I think after ten years, maybe this isn’t the worst episode of the series. I can’t be bothered with a whole rewatch to find out, as the episodes that bore me aren’t ones that I’d bother to watch again just to rate. The shit with Airachnid was mind-achingly stupid and maybe some of the slapstick hasn’t aged the best, but otherwise it just is what it is. I liked Silas dying, I liked the character interactions we got between Starscream and Knock Out, I always adore Darren Norris’ performance as Knock Out and this episode does wonders to show off his skill (“Precisely my-- WHAT”), and the zombie designs were pretty baller.

I thank this episode for what it’s given to me, I’m going to let go of the ghosts of fandom’s past, and now I set it all free.

So. Um. Now that I've already got a few hundred posts on this blog, I should probably go ahead and make an introduction post. That's usually the order for this sort of thing, right?

My interest in and feelings toward whump is definitely very, uh, unconventional? Based on what I've seen around the whump community and others' intro posts, at least. Sort of a combination of a kink and a coping mechanism and a way to confront fears and a thrill-seeking thing. I dunno.

I'm aroace and sex- and romance-repulsed, which probably isn't exactly obvious based on, you know, everything. Especially the fact that a lot of the content here is very NSFW. I guess the thing is, at least for me, I see nsfwhump and non-con as such a completely different thing than sex? It's approached in fiction in such a vastly different way, and a way that's more relatable. Seeing non-con portrayed as something traumatic and horrific, I can understand. Seeing consensual sex portrayed as something beautiful and desirable, I can't wrap my head around.

I like the aesthetic of BDSM, and have done some self-bondage on my own time. In fiction and art, I have absolutely no interest in things that are safe, sane, and consensual. I engage in it in a way that's more about fantasizing. Playing pretend. Imagining that I am the whumpee, being captured and tied up and gagged. In real life, that's obviously going to be the means of enjoyment. But in fiction, that layer of pretend isn't necessary and just gets in the way.

Anyway. I do also enjoy plenty of whump stuff that is perfectly SFW and non-kinky, and I enjoy the occasional kinky thing that wouldn't be considered whump. But there's a lot of overlap between the two. Makes more sense to keep it all on one blog.

So I do an admittedly intense EOY reflection / SOY preparation every December but I’ve never really done a review of my writing for the year. Part of it is that, after over a decade of not writing fic, I didn’t start writing fic again until 2021. Crazy enough, my output this year was more than those two years combined (almost twice over!).

Tbh part of me almost felt guilty to realize that. I mean, here I am, recovering from one of the hardest times in my life, writing fic. But then a small part of me whispered, what’s wrong with that? Just because I’m healing doesn’t mean I have to suffer.

So I’m trying to take joy in what I’ve done this year and honestly, I’m proud what I’ve written. I truly cannot pick out a favorite because all of them mean so much to me. As I mentioned in the last fic review, reading and writing fic has played a huge role in how I process things and express myself; to have had this time to relearn how to write (with all its frustration and joy), to discover new things, to explore new characters, to connect with so many folks, it’s meant a lot. It’s helped me move forward, it’s helped me hold on.

So thank you - you, reading this, y’all who’ve read anything I’ve written, who’ve liked and left kudos and comments and messages - thank you, so, so much.

Because I’m me, I went into nerd-mode and used Flamebyrd’s ao3 bookmarklet to pull my fic stats earlier this month. I drew up some tables and charts and used lots of colors (what’s a spreadsheet without conditional formatting?)

After looking at different interactions (hits, kudos, comments, percentages of each), I came up roughly with my “top” fics and “bottom” fics (focusing on avatrice fics because that was the bulk of my writing this year).

I’m not surprised by the surveys fic being at the top - I still giggle at that one and it gets kudos pretty regularly. It’s easy to read with a unique premise and I’m generally happy with the execution.

I am surprised, however, that propose shot up so high so quickly - the top three had been published early in the year (Feb-Mar) but propose was posted just last month. I suppose there was something about the premise - a different take on an Avatrice proposal - that must have resonated with folks.

I’m curious about the ranking of some of these fics - for example, that melts the blood inside our veins was my first amnesia fic and is in the top 5, but my second amnesia fic, so different now from what it seemed, is in the bottom 5. Perhaps it’s the difference in premise, perhaps the execution - who knows. (I’m not mad, just “huh.”)

I’m not surprised about the others though: a video game crossover, a military propaganda movie AU, an Avatrice+Cam threesome (fun fact: the doc title was simply “ABC” for a while lol), and a moody “what if” speculation - none of them fit the mold of “popular” lol

Now that I think of it, though, I did try new things with some of these fics: the tone and action of we both know how this ends is one I don’t usually do; I rarely do a retelling of other media (I know the long, delirious, burning blue doesn’t follow the Maverick movie exactly but still), not to mention having that twist at the end; I’m still very much learning how to be comfortable writing intimacy (I still don’t know where late night vigil came from lol); and can’t go back was an exercise that stretched my brain thinking of the different ways Beatrice’s life could have changed.

Slight tangent: I am, however, surprised that pocketful was so low - it’s #17 in the rankings (it’s just shy of 900 hits as of this writing) - only because I thought it got quite the heartwarming response initially. I received some of my favorite comments on that one (though to be clear, I love all the comments I receive! Such gifts, comments) That said, I can acknowledge that the premise does sound a bit odd. I mean, cmon, a fic about pockets? What even?

That said, I can’t promise that my ideas won’t be any less weird next year lol. There are some ideas that I think will carry over but I’m certain there will be plenty of new and unusual ideas that will pop into my head in the year to come.

I also can’t promise that my output will be as high as it was this year, what with some upcoming changes to my life (new job! moving, hopefully relatively soon, to a new state!) and general life-ness. I do intend to keep writing, though, at least that’s the goal.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

It's so hard to pick only one when I love everything about her. I think that I love her loyalty. She's so true to her friends. She was a big help to Snow and David when they were trying to take back the kingdom, she gave her car to Ashley to use to leave town, she was the only one that tried to help Belle through her amnesia. And she also remains super close with Granny even after some of Granny's decisions harmed her and led to her hating parts of herself. (Honestly, their relationship is so wonderfully complicated and I was considering putting it as my favorite thing about Ruby but I thought I should focus on something that puts Ruby's character in the spotlight.) She's amazing!

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I don't remember much from it, but I think X-Men will be a good media for Ruby. I see her more as a Rogue-like character but once she gets support from her found family, she starts to feel at home and to accept her abilities. Kind of like what happened with Snow in 2x07.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

Ruby adored Henry ever since she first saw him with Regina. Of course, Regina wasn't thrilled about that because a) to her Ruby was just an extension of Snow and if she didn't want Snow anywhere near Henry, then she didn't want Ruby near him either and b) Ruby's behavior otherwise does not inspire a lot of faith in Regina that she knows how to act around small children. Ruby was never that scared of Regina, though, mostly because on some level she's more content with having forgotten her true identity than the other characters were, and she persisted in her hovering over Henry (and by extension Regina) every time she saw him. She only won Regina over once Henry was old enough to try to talk her into sneaking him extra sugar in his cocoa but Ruby didn't thus respecting Regina's parental authority. Regina might have let her babysit him once or twice in a pinch.

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

Becky, bestie, do you hate me? Why did you pick 14? I am not good at fashion! I mean, I like it and I find it interesting but I think my grasp of it is... very debatable if not downright non-existent. Okay, here it comes.

I think grunge will work well enough for Ruby. I have no elaboration on this. This is the best I can do.

Kathryn:

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

How forgiving she is and how in touch with her emotions. She got over David's deception so quickly and wished him nothing but happiness and she's able to do that because she's aware of her own need to find someone to love her truly, not just pretend or lie to themselves that they do. Look at how emotionally intelligent she is! I love her!

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

You know what? I think she'd work really well in The Three Musketeers. This is coming out of left field but Kathryn seemed so good at hiding her true intentions and attitude in the flashbacks from the Enchanted Forest so I really think she should be put in a web of political intrigue. And then there's the aspect of her love story having a sense of tragedy to it. Works so perfectly for The Three Musketeers or some similar media. That type of story will have all the room to explore her qualities that OUAT didn't have time for.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

Really, the only headcanons I have about her are that she gets to be Mayor of Storybrooke once Regina leaves to help Henry and also that Regina did apologize to her for how she treated her at some point (this has a lot of spite attached to it because I think they should have actually done it in canon, for the sake of both characters).

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

Considering Kathryn's interest in studying law and my vision of her as mayor of Storybrooke in s7/post-canon, I'd say business casual. That way she can be elegant and formal enough but still keep a little closer to the style we've seen her wear on the show.

4. Is there an f/o you have never/rarely talked about publicly? Tell us a little something about them!

There are quite some I rarely talk about, considering my f/o list is quite long xD. So it was quite a challenge to pick one, or a group of them at least.

I think I'll talk about my f/o's from genius games. I have 7 of them, and only one of them is a boy xD. We have Weber, Nina, Tessa, Mika, Yuki, Linda and Kana.

Weber has did, and is from an apocalyptic setting. I need to research more to be comfortable sharing ship dynamics and such. Yuki is a snowspirit. Nina, Kana, Mika are all from various high school settings, one deals with death and seeing the damned, and another deals with magic. Tessa is from a rental girlfriend service. Linda has amnesia and is from an artistic setting. All in all, I don't have much lore from them all yet, but I might be fleshing them out afterwards.

16. Pick one f/o you identify with closest!

I'm gonna pick another one then I did previously because there are quite some I identify closely with. For this I'd say Belphie.

I'm always tired, I love the stars, purple is my favorite color, and I also didn’t have to do anything in school to get good marks. I'm also the youngest, so I know how that feels. And I too feel like nobody truly understands me, I'm doing better now with this feeling but it's still there.

22. Do you own a trinket you associate with your f/o?

I have some rings that I associate with some f/o's. I have a plushie as well (gonna get a second one too).

I do have preferences, I prefer animated over life-action, I even think all my f/o's are from animated media. I tend to have more f/o's from anime or visual novels (and visual novel type games, gacha games and the likes).

Some ships do have power dynamics, but that's mostly in the age gap ships, yet even in these the younger one always is the more dominant one.

Oh yeah why does Vic Chosen Dark and Second even have powers in the first place? Same with like- the villains.

Nearly all the heroes and villains have powers, so I'm excited to see Color Gang as heroes without powers, just tech.

I've always liked seeing people without powers and just technology and/or their talents beating people who just rely on their powers.

I'm not sure why. I think that's why I like Agent so much more than the others.

O v O Well well well~ Somebody is poking around for info on the Government within Super Sticks~ Whatever shall I do-

They are an organization, yes. They rule a lot of areas, but are not all-powerful or in a position of full-on tyranny.

There are places that are private property, owned by a single stick or perhaps two sticks, and leased or available for public usage, that the Government cannot do much about. There are also small organizations of some groups of sticks, that built up their businesses to help improve the city. The properties they own and let the public around also is unable to be touched or interfered with via Government hands.

One of those such places, is the police station that Vic is currently imprisoned inside. Government cannot touch him there, even though they are very well aware that Vic has powers. They were quite put off and frustrated when Vic made arrangements for both himself and Primal to go to that specific prison~

[The non-Government station itself and the guards/officers thereof actually don't know Vic has powers right now. This fact comes into play later, for a future scene I have already written~]

They are... targetting a LOT of sticks, actually- XD They even have code names for some of the higher priority sticks, as seen when "Target Amnesia" was mentioned.

Second is the highest priority thoouugghhhh~ I wwoooOoonnndeeerr whhhhhyyyyyY~ >:D

Every currently imprisoned stick in the Government right now: ...Yeah, I guess we're Pokemon cards now- It's accurate-

XD I love Pokemon, although I've only seen Indigo League. I wouldn't say I'm necessarily into the fandom either, but from what I have seen of the show I have loved dearly.

Now- Anyone with abilities, obviously it's genetics where the ability came from.

Hence, Rum: the mother of Vodka and Whiskey, shares a similar power. Jade has a different power, but he is Rum's husband so he's family though not by blood. And the Alcoholic Twins ended up inheriting their Mom's powers rather than their Dad's, so nobody except me at the moment knows what Jade can do, ehehehehhee

The title of Pretzel might have something to do with it, but that is ALLLLLLLL I will be saying on that front- /total-lie, I-can't-keep-my-mouth-shut, /silly

Color Gang is absolutely going to be epic with their non-powers, I will say this much. I AM VERY EXCITED TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE WHAT THEY'LL BE ABLE TO DO, but I gotta break it to the readers slowly over the course of the four building the upgrades-

I do got the specifics all figured out, thoughhh~~ Not the names, yet- But the upgrades for each quadruplet, I have that down and ready to implement into the plot at will.

Canon!Agent is so cool, yes- I think he may be my favorite as well! [although I LOVE HAZARD so much too...] And! That is one of the big reasons why, as he doesn't even have any abilities, he uses a tech weapon. On a similar note, Mono of Super Sticks is much the same way, and on an even greater note because leg injury~ :D

It's funny you should mention reliance on one's powers, as I have a bit of a motto/theme built up in relation to that. In Spark AU. :3 Do with that information what thou will...

Is this my most read/liked/kudos/bookmarked fic. Yes. Is it silly meta about twitter and fandom? Yes. Do I still love it anyways? Yes. You might not know this about me but I'm a sucker for good meta, especially about fandom, especially when it was crack inspired by a musical. Fun fact: I originally intended to write this fic for the Merlin fandom over a decade ago, but never worked up the courage to write fic then.

dearly beloved (haikyuu!! skts, travel fic, sappy af)

This probably borders on purple prose for some people but idc, it has a piece of my soul in it. It's a love letter to sakuatsu, atsumu, and loving someone through the old and the new. (Also I really tried to balance the prose so I think it's pretty banger anyways)

If I told you how many dog-centric fics I have written or still plan to write, well, let's not get into it. I love dogs. I love dogs as a device for getting together in weird, wonderful, fluffy ways, hairballs and all. This one is not based on any media that I know of (original to me—a fair number of my fics are inspired by other things or references to something) so I'm particularly fond of it.

TWO BOYS ON A SHIP (to say nothing of the cat) (dgs/tgaa, asoryuu, fix-it fic, sort of)

Besides the absolute banger title (that, yes, is based on a real book title), this fic is near and dear to me because I had a blast writing it and it was a rare time when pieces of the plot fell into place neatly as I wrote it. Anyways, it's my favorite characterization of Ryuunosuke and Kazuma's relationship, and answers a lot of questions for me that I didn't know I had until I was writing them. I still intend to write the continuation, but that's an entire dgs rewrite, so it's low on the docket for now.

Sorry I don't think I have any other writers I know on here that weren't already tagged (?) or I'm perhaps not mutuals with (excuse my poor memory if otherwise). So go ahead and do it yourself if you want!
