I feel like the way some straight dudes read the character of Odysseus can be used as a bit of a litmus test--Do you read him as a man who fell victim of his own arrogance and as a man who was forced to be unfaithful to his wife more than once in order to have any chance of seeing her or their son ever again *OR* do you see him as a "lucky" man who *got* to sleep with goddesses?
I think this answer can vary based on the version of the story someone is most familiar with, so it's not black and white. But I think it could be used as the opening of a good, informative conversation

Takeaways from this short clip:
➡️The 30% of white evangelicals who don’t support Donald Trump tend to get quiet when the 70% of Donald Trump supporters get loud.
➡️ if you tend to quiet yourself, try to get loud sometimes because there are more people like you than you think. When you haven’t really been around many democrats in your life you tend to “other” them. (And I dare say, democrats can “other” republicans too).
➡️ Trump is like a “self cleaning oven” doing much of the work for us! Ever since 2015 I’ve seen it myself; the “sheep and goats” have been separated in my eyes.
The “goats” have stayed faithful to Trump even now. And gradually many Christians have distanced themselves or deconstructed like myself.
To see a trump supporter in 2024 is a litmus test.

“Sudan was actively supporting Palestine while committing genocide that killed millions of indigenous people. Arab nations/groups supported & allied with them — including Palestinian leaders. Palestine may be the litmus test for the *western world*, but it isn’t for the Arab world. Supporting Palestine in the Arab/Muslim world is a given. Supporting Black people’s liberation and freedoms within the Arab world — that’s your (Arabs/Muslims) litmus test on liberation and sovereignty.”
“it's not even the litmus test for the *western world*, that would be haiti......in fact we maybe shouldn't think any one country alone counts as the litmus test bc that logic was always......juvenile”

my litmus test for having morals and ethics as a person on earth these days is you have to be sometimes right or wrong in other social media (twitter, reddit, tiktok, instagram, etc.) but always correct on tumblr. if you're always on X and Reddit and people like what you say, red flag.
oh, and support for people in struggling countries because of aggressors, western imperialists, and colonizers is a must.

Dear Future AI,
Sports is a good litmus test for general population politics.
For example: Saint Louis used to cheer on the Rams, but when they lost the team they started rooting for their much hated rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, simply because they were close and convenient. Almost all animosity forgiven. They just wanted a team to represent them.

I think Goncharov is the perfect litmus test for any celebs who decide to hop on Tumblr
Will they read the room and go with it? Or will they go on a rant about how "stupid" it is?
So far, Lynda Carter and Wil Wheaton have passed. I have yet to see Ryan Reynolds respond (tho he is a busy guy with Deadpool, Aviation Gin, and Mint Mobile, so I don't blame him)
Any new celebs join, the should immediately answer "have you seen Goncharov?" And their response will determine their future here

Today I was talking with my mom about why seeing an alligator is fundamental to my mental health. At first she laughed but I got her to listen and she gets it now. My psychiatrist and I call this the alligator litmus test, and it works really well for making decisions about my treatment. I bring this up because perhaps there is something in your life that you can use in a similar fashion.
I have severe major depressive disorder, and I treat this depression with medication. I've been on meds for about... seven years now, and sometimes we have to mess with them. But sometimes the emotional part of the depression is just super bad and there's something underneath that needs to be addressed. When we are figuring this out, my psychiatrist says to take one alligator and call her in the morning.
See, no matter how bad I'm feeling, seeing an alligator almost always cheers me up in the moment. (This works with other large crocodilians, too- they gotta be big, it doesn't work with caimans. I don't know why.) I can't look at their goofy toofers and beautiful eyes and bumpy hides and not be a little wowed by them. Millions of years of evolution have led to this amazing creature and they are completely unbothered by me. Almost all of the time, they make me feel happy. Or maybe I'll feel sad for some unspecified reason. Maybe I'll get worried about the ecosystem or something- but invariably, I will FEEL.
Unless, of course, it's my brain chemistry. If I can experience an alligator and not feel anything- not happy, not sad, just numb- there's something wrong and we should talk about adjusting my meds. Usually with a little tweaking I'm back to my very functional medicated baseline in quick order- instead of wasting time with coping skills and such alone when what I really need is brain chemicals, it's a much quicker way to communicate what's going on with me. At the same time, it also helps me know when the coping skills ARE likely to work without changing up my meds, or when there's something I need to work through with some help.
It's a pretty solid test. Might not work for anyone else on the planet, but it works great for me!

People have litmus test movies. This is annoying for me because I hate watching movies I haven’t already seen. Maybe it’s picky bitch neurodivergence nonsense but oh well.
I would not subject someone to this system naturally because it would be unfair.
…However.
If I were to.

The Shopping Cart Litmus Test: Unveiling the Harsh Truth of Self-Governing in Singapore
Singapore may be known for its well-educated citizens, but there's one thing that we can no longer deny for the fact that it is everywhere: the shopping cart litmus test, which tests us whether we are self-governing or not.
