✨Faye's Writeblr Reintroduction✨
Hello to all my fellow writing nerds, new and old! Thank you for checking out my updated writeblr reintroduction post. I've had this blog for nearly five years and am long overdue for a post explaining who I am, what I create, and why I write. I'm hoping to interact with more writers on here so we can all make the writeblr community a more welcoming place by supporting each other's creative journeys. If you're an active writing blog, I'd really appreciate it if you could like or reblog this so I can follow you and we can screech into the void together and gush about all our favorite WIPS and characters! ♡
A Little About Me
My name is Faye, a sassy bisexual woman living out her best writer life. I’m a lover, a dreamer, and of course, a creative writer enthusiast. I love storytelling in all of its mediums, so you can usually find me reading, writing, worldbuilding, character building, or doing an unnecessary amount of research for my works (ADHD tunnel vision).
Why Do I Write?
I write for many reasons, the biggest one being for myself. I love weaving stories with nothing but words because it's fun, challenging, and personally meaningful. There's nothing quite like the feeling of sitting at my desk and giggling away like a madwoman as I type out some intense scene. That feeling is only second to the absolute joy I get when people tell me they've connected with my stories. <3
How Do I Get Inspired?
I'm inspired by many different kinds of storytelling types: music, art, mythology, literature, video games, you name it. My writing comes from an intimate place and is motivated by my dreams, passions, and overall life experiences. I want my stories to mean something, and in turn, I want to share that 'something' with others in hope of continuing the positive cycle of human to human inspiration that started my journey in the first place. 🥺 Ultimately, for me, writing is about fulfillment, personal expression, and human connectivity.
Faye's Favorite Genre(s)
It's difficult to exactly pin down what my favorite genre is (because I genuinely love so many of them) but if I had to narrow it down to two genres, it would definitely be fantasy and romance. I love fantasy and its many subgenres (high fantasy, modern fantasy, science fantasy), as well as romance and its various subgenres (dark romance, paranormal romance, fantasy romance). As a bisexual writer, every story I write has LGBT+ characters, relationships and themes. Whether I'm writing gay or hetero romances, I love playing with the complicated dynamics resulting from human relationships.
My Absolute Favorite Tropes, Themes, and Content
exploring human relationships: platonic, familial, and romantic
enemies to lovers, rivals to lovers, friends to lovers, strangers to lovers, lovers to enemies, friends to enemies, enemies to friends
sensuality, intimacy, slow burn, dark romance, spicy content
soulmates, souls bonds, magical ties, and mental links usually tied to the villain (I love dramatic enemies to lovers, so sue me)
angsty, whumpy, dark fiction exploring morally gray characters and the true duality of man & human nature (dark vs. light)
hurt/comfort stories that rip out your heart, chew it up like old jerky, then spit it back into the gaping wound in your chest cavity (always with HEAPS & HEAPS of satisfying comfort after) ♡♡♡
identity, self-discovery, personal journeys, and character growth
experiencing, overcoming, and healing from messed up trauma
defying fate and choosing your own path despite destiny's enigmatic design for the course of your life
Finally, I need my characters to find genuine happiness at the end of the story. Very, very few stories I write have sad, unsatisfying endings (because I am a TOTAL sap and need them to find peace)
Thank you so much for reading, and if any of the above sounds appealing to you, I'd really appreciate so much if you reblog or give me a follow so we can chat. Happy writing! 💕💕💕

"There is a quiver of violence beneath every touch I bring to your face, there is a muzzled bite in every word I say. I was born in a thunderbolt and I will be buried in the arms of the Styx, the only arms that will hold me. Still I choose to caress the sharpness of your jaw, and to use my voice to lull you to sleep. I know you will kill me, but I choose to die softly"

I saw you yesterday.
You looked exactly like the person I left an eternity ago. The same air of confidence, the same face, the same haircut. You looked like everything that I've been missing for so long.
Everything that I couldn't have back.
You'd probably hate me if you knew I dared to take a glance at you. Maybe you already know I did.
Did you expect me to look your way one more time, I wonder?
The moment was so short, yet excruciatingly long to me. I couldn't detach my eyes from your figure. Maybe I stared a little longer than I should have. It doesn't really matter. I was gone in the blink of an eye, before you even got the time to notice I was here to begin with.
Like a ghost haunting you.
I'm sorry. I know I should have stayed away. I should have been stronger. I should have left you to your peaceful existence.
But the truth is - and you know it already - I am weak. I have always been.
I don't know how to punch, and I can't take criticism really well, and I collapse when the pressure gets too heavy.
I failed you again.
Nothing new in the end: it's always the same story.
It's always about you and me. It always ends the same. I always cry when I reach the last sentence.
But what can I say?
I miss you, and I've once been told grief never goes away, we just learn to live with it.
I grieve someone still alive. So far away, yet so unbearably close I would only have to extend a hand to touch you.
The idea of returning to you like an abandoned dog finding its way back to the only home it knows seems so alluring at times, because my heart is one of a dog and I don't know how to stop loving the hand that used to feed me.
But I know I can never go back in your arms again, so instead, I leave my door cracked open in hope that you'll step inside and tell me you missed me too.
It never happens.
Yesterday though, I heard the hinges creak almost imperceptibly.
I ran through the house, hoping to see you there, but when I arrived in the hallway, it was dark and silent. The streets outside were empty, and I was alone.
Still, I hoped it was you, because even when it's vain and stupid, I still have faith in you.
I hoped you had seen the door slightly open and had considered entering. I hoped you had hesitated and had decided to make your presence known at last, before running away.
I hoped you hadn't forgotten us.
Of course, yes, it could have been the wind. But it could have been you. The possibility was enough.
I want to keep believing in you. To keep believing that you cared about me too.
Oh, what I wouldn't do for the ghost of you.
I could write hundreds of letters that you'd never read and cry thousands of tears that you'd never wipe away.
I could believe in your return for all eternity and wander aimlessly among the memories of us.
So tonight again, my door will be left unlocked and I will be sleeping with one eye open.
If you ever see it, I hope that you'll step inside and stay.
Please come back to me.

Gonna throw up a poll for this actually: would you be interested in me occasionally posting chapters / excerpts / etc. from my books on a sideblog? I intend to self publish at some point, so these would simply be previews and not the completed work. I'm just wondering if people would enjoy having a sneak peek of the work to get a feel.

i'm already started on my nanoprep for november this year, and i'm finding the official forums and my new region to be pretty dead.
is anyone else already looking around for people to talk about their nanonovel with?
it'll be my 10th year, so i've decided to work on the first novel i ever wrote for nano - it's requiring quite a bit of gutting so i don't have a clear idea of plot yet, but i figure i'll make a full post about it when i do

my favourite part about reading back through the webnovel i've been working on for the past year is that you can basically carbon-date whatever my active hyperfixation was at the time of any given chapter's release by what random piece of media i would reference out of nowhere like the different layers of dirt and rock in an archaeological dig

no, but really, we need to talk about the casual objectification that has become the fallback discourse of the internet: if you're pretty and dressed nicely, you're a slut. and if you're even vaguely outside of their body standard, you're fucking disgusting.
too-frequently, people position sex workers as being "the problem". they sneer you're addicted to pornography, you don't know what a real woman looks like. but real women are in pornography. the real bodies on display are not the issue here: the issue is that other people feel extremely confident when commenting on someone's physique.
2000's super-thin is slowly worming its way back into the public ideal. recently i saw someone get told to "go for a run", despite the fact she was on the thinner side of average. not that it would ever be appropriate to say that: but it's kind of like sticker shock when you see it. people think that is fat? holy shit. do they just have no idea about things?
but what are you going to do about it? that's the problem, right. because chances are - you're a normal person. we can say normalize carrying fat on your body, but we are not the billion-dollar diet industry. we are not the billion-dollar fashion industry. we are just, like. people. who are trying to make content on the internet, without being treated shittily.
as someone who has been on both sides of things: you are treated better when you are thin and pretty. this is statistically correct. i am not saying that you cannot be bullied for being thin; i'm saying there are objective institutional biases against certain bodytypes. there are videos of men and women who lost weight all saying: i now know for a fact exactly how much worse you're treated. in the comments, some asshole inevitably says something akin to you deserved to be dehumanized when you were fat.
which means that ... the easiest thing to do is be pretty and thin. it is the path of least resistance, because of course it is, because any time you post a picture of yourself without a thigh gap, someone immediately comments something like you need to try a diet.
the other half is also dehumanizing though, huh, just in a different way. when i put on makeup and nice clothes, i am told i slept my way to the top as a professional. do you know how many women in STEM have told me they purposefully dress to "unimpress" because they already struggle to be taken seriously and if they're ever considered pretty - it for some reason takes away from their authority.
so they make it seem like it's your fault. you, existing in a body - it's your fault! if you didn't want shitty comments, don't have a body. they position us against each other like chess pieces; vying for male attention we don't even need.
and i can be an authority on this unless you think i'm fat and unattractive. when i am pretty and thin, i'm an activist. when i am just a normal person who makes a good point: i am immediately dismissed. nobody fucking believes you if you're not seen as attractive. you literally lose value. you cease to exist.
but the whole time, it feels like - is anyone actually grounded the fuck in reality? the line of "pretty and thin" keeps shifting. nobody seems to understand what "a normal weight" even looks like, because it's not something that exists - you cannot tell a person's health by looking at their body. even if you think you could tell that, even if you're sure a person is dangerously overweight - people are not your dolls. they do not need to be dressed up or displayed properly to soothe your aesthetics. you aren't concerned for them, you're stealing their agency. you don't get to say if they're "allowed" to take pictures and post them on the internet - you don't get to tell them how to exist.
people hide behind "the obesity epidemic" without any actual qualifications. they crow things about "normalizing unhealthiness".
but it's bullshit. i have visible abs. there is a pair of parallel lines on my body, even when i'm relaxed; where my obliques meet my abdominal wall. i am proud of this because it means i'm strong, because i overcame an eating disorder only to be ripped as fuck. it is genetic and physical luck that i even get any definition, i'm pleased as punch.
but it does mean that my abdominal wall sticks out a little bit. the other day i posted a video of myself dancing, and, for a moment, my shirt slipped. you could see a little bit of my stomach. i was cartwheeling to the floor. moments before this, i'd had my foot over my head.
a guy slid into my DMs. a row of vomiting emojis prefaced: you should really lose some weight before you think about dancing.
i stared at it for a long time. there was a time when i would have been triggered by this, where it would have encouraged me to starve myself. i would have ignored the fact i'm flexible, agile, good at jumping: i would have lost the weight for a stranger's passing comment. i would have found myself and my body fucking disgusting.
and for what? to please what? because why? so that he can exist in this world without an unchallenged eyeball? what would my self-hatred even accomplish? usually i write paragraphs. obviously. on this particular occasion, in this body i've been at war with for ages: i just felt exhausted.
it shouldn't be even worth saying. it shouldn't be hard to explain. all of this emotional turmoil when he cannot even comprehend the most basic truth: i am not an object on display for him.
#spilled ink#writeblr#warm up#like if im getting fatshamed. babe......... wake up#is there fat on my body? yes :)#btw this behavior wouldn't be okay even if I WAS overweight!!! that is my point!!!#it is both that people have no idea what weight is supposed to look like#and even if they DID... they do not seem to understand that PEOPLE ARE NOT DOLLS#YOU DO NOT GET TO TELL THEM HOW TO EXIST#if you respond anything akin to ''but raquel there IS an obesity epidemic''#you're blocked and reported.#go fucking DONATE TO A FOOD BANK THEN. volunteer in a food desert. start a free fitness program#GO GET A DEGREE AS A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL AND PRACTICE IN NUTRITION IN UNDERPRIVILEDGED LOCATIONS#FIGURE OUT HOW TO LOWER FOOD COSTS. FIGURE OUT HOW TO NORMALIZE AND STANDARDIZE#ACCESS TO FARM-FRESH FOOD. PROVIDE ACTUAL FREE ACCESS TO OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES#FIGURE OUT HOW TO TEACH PEOPLE HEALTHY CHOICE MAKING WHILE ALSO LOWERING THE COST OF MEALS.#THE AVERAGE GROCERY BILL OF THE AMERICAN CITIZEN HAS QUADRUPILED IN THE LAST YEAR.#SHUT. THE FUCK. UP!!!!!!!!!#you don't want to help these people!!!!!#you want to bully them but still feel like a good person!#you want to be justified in your hatred of an entire CLASS of people!!!#you don't give a fuck about how it makes them feel!!!!#you care ONLY about whether or not YOU get to VIRTUE SIGNAL that YOURE so thin and pretty!!!!#it is BECAUSE of people like you#and the fact you tolerate fatphobia - BECAUSE of that normalization. that men like the one who called me fat#feel like they can get away with it.#bc there's a line for you where you WOULD be okay with it. where if i WASNT thin you'd be okay with it.#which means the line can always be pushed in a certain direction. and it's always going to appeal to male aesthetics.#''well you didn't deserve it'' maybe fucking NOBODY does babe. maybe we should just all agree not to comment on ppls bodies!!

Looking for active writeblrs to follow!
I just realized that most of the writeblrs I follow aren't posting much anymore. A hazard of being on this site for so long, I guess. I'm particularly interested in:
Original fiction
Fantasy
Weird stuff that defies all categorization
... and everything else, because let's be honest I love all writing
I'm a writer and editor who mostly posts/reblogs writing advice and inspiration, although I occasionally share about my WIPs or recent publications/zines. Interact with this post, or follow me & I'll follow you back. Can't wait to fluff up my dash with new writers and writing! It's been dead much too long.

@moonandris -- grand to make your acquaintance lovely thank you for sharing -- and encouraging myself to reblog
In case anyone is unsure how to get their writeblr dash more active...
People get busy. Life happens, and we can’t always be super active on our blogs in the ways we want to be (this is where I am currently). These are some things I like to do after I feel like I’ve been away from my blog for a while that also help the community and other writeblrs out. ♡
♡ Look through the latest writeblr introduction/active writeblrs/looking for active writeblrs/creative writing/etc. tags and make it a priority to  r e b l o g  everyone’s intros and latest wips and such. This helps introduce yourself to others as well as helping everyone else out in the community by giving active blogs more attention and interaction.
♡ Follow and interact with the people you see in the tags! We are the lifeblood that keeps this community alive and without us the writeblr community wouldn’t exist on Tumblr. Use that to your advantage!
♡ Write a writeblr reintroduction! Let people know you’re still alive and kicking and looking to be more involved in the community. Make posts that reintroduce your WIPs, characters, and more.
♡ Don’t be afraid to message writers and ask them about their WIPs and characters, as well as asking for others to look over your WIPs and see what they think of them. I can’t speak for others but my inbox is always open and I love chatting with other writers and hyping each other up! It’s the best.
♡  Participate in writeblr tag games and get to know the fellow writers in your community and what kind of genres they like to write in, what their writing styles are like, how often they like to write, what their favorite tropes are, etc.
♡ Reblog. Reblog. REBLOG. It’s great to receive a like on your writeblr posts but reblogging is what keeps our community thriving and helps others get more eyes on their work. It’s a great way for writers to support other writers, and really, that’s what the community is for. :)
Feel free to pm me or add more if you’ve got any tips. :)

In trying to come up with ideas for No Stress November, I started designing a writeblr event called the Writeblr Village! Focusing on the community and sharing ideas and supporting each other.
Here are the “locations” in the village!
The Coffee Shop
Looking to start casual conversations with your fellow writers? Stop by the coffee shop! Open your inbox and DMs, share your ideas and WIPs, grab a nice cup of coffee and sit around to chat!
The Library
Looking to learn and do some research? Head to the library! If you're focusing on reading to find your voice, looking for inspiration, trying to complete research for your story, this is the place to be! Reach out for resources and share your progress with the community!
The Gym
Looking to set some high goals and grind on your writing? Head to the gym! Share your goals and progress with the community so we can keep up with you and cheer you on!
The Bakery
Looking to whip up some wonderful treats and WIPs? The bakery is the place to be! Let us know what you're working on and share your snippets, finished pieces, and bits of progress as you go so we can enjoy your delicious treats and congratulate you on your hard work!
The Arcade
Looking to relax and play some writing games? Stop by the arcade! Ask games, tag games, reblog chains, they’re all here and open for business! Let us know you're here so we can play with you!
The Spa
Looking to take a break from writing all together? Head to the spa! Share your favorite self care activities and where you are in your self care journey so we can support you!
The Archive
Looking to take stock of your work and figure out what to do next? The archives might be your place! Review your outline, edit your drafts, reassess and decide which project you want to work on next! Share your process so we can join you in the archive!
How to participate
The Village will be open for the rest of the year, until December 31st. You don't have to “visit” everyday, but when you do, make a post letting us know where you are hanging out and share your progress! Feel free to add as much or as little information as you want! Don’t forget to visit others in the village and support them, too!
Hope to see you guys around the village!

looking for active writeblrs 🦇
i’ve had quite the break from writeblr. now i’d like to join some wip tag lists, read, and support others who are actively writing!
reblog / like with a comment describing your wip in one sentence (i know it’s hard) or link to your wip so i can check it out!
bonus if it’s fantasy, rivalry-themed, or has some world-building.

Hey folks!
It has been a while! Well, we wanted to announce some big things coming your way!
WWC Askbox: Soft Re-Opening
Wednesday, Nov 1, 2023 to Thursday, Nov 30, 2023
In light of the recent attention WWC has received by the writeblr community, and the reception to our Guide to Academic Research—the mods have decided that we will temporarily reopen to your questions and test some important changes to the site! As you may have noticed, we've taken a much-needed break to catch up on our personal lives and restore our inspiration to answer the hundreds of Q&A that we receive.
Once the submission window is up on Nov 30, we will evaluate how our new system is going, tinker some more, and reopen once again once the construction dust clears.
New Rules and FAQ!
We are pleased to announce our new and improved Masterpost, which we hope will be a more centralized, more informative resource for those new and returning to WWC.
Brand-new FAQs, with new answers and content for further reading
Code of Conduct and other etiquette rules
The Ask Tutorial—a guide to writing a good ask that we’ll answer!
Moving forward, all followers are required to go through the masterpost to submit a question so they are aware of the new rules, terms & conditions.
Read the masterpost here and ask your question!
New Process
We're piloting out our own personal askbox via Google Forms. This will help us streamline the process and keep track of everyone’s questions.
We are also introducing the Deletion Log, a public, anonymous ledger that lets you know if your question (identified by a number code) has been deleted due to a rule violation, and what you can do to resubmit. Check out the Deletion Log here.
Want to submit an ask?
The below are topics of asks that we will get to right away, based on the mods who are currently active.
Black
Chinese
Colonialism
Iranian/Persian
Japanese (INCLUDING: Anime fanfic questions! Only Mod Rina will be answering anime questions, and only if she feels that the ask would make for an educational post.)
Jewish
Mixed race
South Asian: Hindu, Indian, Punjabi, Sikh (please remember that when asking about South Asia you must indicate region & time period)
Taiwanese
Writing/Publishing industry
Coming Soon: Writingwithcolor.org
We've made tremendous progress on writingwithcolor.org and are almost ready to show off the more permanent residence of WritingWithColor! However, it'll take a lot of time to fully transfer posts and links. To get the new look and all its benefits to you faster, we plan for a soft launch of the content. This will include back and forth linking between WritingWithColor.org and our home on Tumblr. We'll try to keep things seamless and your viewing experience on Tumblr shouldn't be too interrupted. Launch date is coming soon!
New Mod Applications
We still have some applications from our last call of mods and folks to respond to. So if you haven’t heard back, sorry for the delay, but no worries—we will get back to you as we start shaking the dust off our bones and getting back into Q&A. Once we are ready to invite more mods again, we'll continue our outreach.
A Special Thanks To You All
We want to thank you for your continued support, whether it’s been viewership, spreading the word about us, or sending us a tip that supports our domain and future projects for you all. The whole team really appreciates it. We will keep bringing you our best advice and guides on all things good writing with inclusivity.
Be well and keep writing!
~WWC
