Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've posted. College and life stuff has kept me busy but I'm back! This drawing is still very much a work in progress but I drew a little design for our character Tv who's the antihero of the story! I don't want to give too much away for future arg stuff once we have the money to make this a reality. The goal is to make a physical object head costume with a working screen and make an indie rock/alternative band and with a horror gimmick and a horror comedy arg story for people to follow. There's just so many cool ways to hide things in sound and music videos but the hard part is getting money for it all. I'm very excited though, and I hope more people learn about us and get excited so we can make this a reality!

Also canonically? That's his boyfriend's hoodie. Tv's boyfriend wears it constantly so Tv remembers him when he wears it. After all, it wouldn't be an analog horror story without queer characters. 💗📺📽️💕📼

people love to joke about the cat distribution system and how if you find a cat outside you have to keep it, but i actually have no problem finding a new home for cats I catch outside. However we’ve had a number of clients at the clinic who find pigeons outside and I am soooo jealous of them. When is it my turn to find a pigeon outside?

I am currently in a roommate situation where I am the only one that can kill the bugs. Which is slightly a problem when we’re in the middle of a fruit fly infestation. But it does make me wonder who is who among the ghouls on the bug killing scale. Here goes:

Dewdrop: kills the bugs with practiced aim and his sandal. No hesitation. No mercy. The go-to bug killer.

Aether: you would think he’d at least be neutral on bugs but no. Absolutely hates them. If he doesn’t get to be unchained from gravity then neither should these heathens and they ESPECIALLY shouldn’t be getting anywhere near his face. Calls Dew to handle the bugs.

Mountain: grabs the bug with his bare hands and eats it. This hasn’t gone badly for him yet, miraculously.

Rain: technically CAN kill the bugs but he’s shaking the entire time, iron gripping a rolled up newspaper. They’re just so fast, why are they so fucking fast, HE’S supposed to be the fast one, what the FUCK-

Swiss: now HE’S the weird one that likes to catch the flies alive and escort them out the nearest window. Gets him laughed at sometimes but he’s the one the rest of the pack goes to when anything too big and scary comes in so really who’s laughing now?

Phantom: trying so very hard to be brave but he’s firmly in Aether’s camp of “Nothing Should Move Like That Ever, Actually.” Dew’s still trying to teach him how to kill ‘em fast enough that the dread doesn’t set in lmao

Cirrus: surprisingly has a real fear of flies. Their buzzing reminds her too much of some of the more… predatory demons back in the pit. Not fond of other creepy crawlers either but she’s better at killing those when she has to.

Sunshine: watched Mountain eat a bug. Tried to do the same when one bug she didn’t recognize had the whole pack panicking. It was. A wasp. Needless to say she leaves the bug eating to the professional now. And the killing. She’s good. For like the next century at least.

Cumulus: the ghoulette that has the least qualms with killing bugs. Can only handle up to a certain threshold of bug though. If it’s bigger than, say, a quarter? She’s out. Hates roaches with a passion.

Aurora: LOVES bugs. Will sit and watch them fly or crawl around all damn day if allowed. Gets Swiss to deal with the bugs before anyone else can catch wise.

I know it’s all just standards.

But Ringo’s Sentimental Journey is utterly charming.

We really should talk more about how he turns to this project as therapy as the band is falling apart. It’s pure nostalgia in a bottle but with Ringo jazz drumming and just having fun with it singing and adding these cute little improv bits. Blues Turning Grey Over You is a highlight for the “I just lost myself there, child!” laugh at the end.

It’s all utterly charming.

It’s a really cool collaboration too. He recruited different musicans arrange each piece (including Paul, who arranged Stardust, perhaps before the breakup drama heats up). George Martin produces and gets the big band together. They start recording more sporadically at first, starting Oct 1969. Night and Day, Stormy Weather (which got left off the final album but I love he tried it), Stardust, and Dream, all recorded before Christmas. The rest are Jan-Mar 1970.

It gets ripped to shreds by the rock cred sector. But Ringo using this as a grief project, sorta returning to childhood in the midst of a blow for comfort, feels more honest and healthy than he gets credit for. It’s also brassy af. This is the height of “fuck jazz,” and Ringo’s just like “so what? I’ll do what I like.”

George said he liked it. John slagged him off for it in interviews, but I bet he secretly liked it too. Not sure whether Paul ever commented on it given the dual release drama. He does his own standards album decades later, after it becomes a thing artists do. But when Ringo does it in 1970? No one was doing that.

Thinking about how much of an anomaly Swiss is and how much I love Jack of All Trades characters.

Because ghouls that are an even split of all 5 elements, up until Swiss, had been unheard of. Sure, hybrids are a thing that happen sometimes, just look at Sunny and Aurora, but all 5?

It had been previously theorized by the Ministry that the max amount of elements one ghoul could possess on the surface was 3; any more and the body would begin to deteriorate due to the strain of containing that much conflicting elemental power. That’s not to say such ghouls COULDN’T exist down in The Pit, but they likely wouldn’t survive the journey to the surface.

Which brings us back to Swiss. Swiss, the living contradiction to all the Ministry thought they knew. Swiss, the type of ghoul never before seen on Earth or in Hell. Swiss, who could light your smoke one minute and chill your drink the next.

However, such great power has its limits. For example, while, yes, he could do both of those things one after the other, he is incapable of doing them both at once, forced to focus on one element at a time.

His natural abilities are also not quite as strong as those of someone born purely of that element. In order to reach even close to that level requires an intense amount of concentration and energy that simply isn’t sustainable for long periods of time.

This limitation gets to him some days more than others. Some days, he feels more like a cheep knock-off of a ghoul than anything else- like someone’s amateur interpretation of one. It’s an easy argument to make, given that’s how he survived in The Pit: pretending to be a full elmental ghoul and joining an established pack until the truth caught up with him and he was forced to leave and wander till the cycle could start anew.

Even though it’s been years now since he’d left The Pit and found a family that accepts him for exactly what he is, it still gets hard some days not to feel like somewhat of a fraud- like he’s tricked them all into loving a version of himself that was somehow better than he really is and it’ll only be a matter of time before they find him out and it’s back to square one down in the hellfire below.

Thankfully, his pack has gotten good at noticing when he’s too far in his own head and can remind him of just how sincerely loved and appreciated he is. It’s most days now where he gleefully tousles Rain’s hair with a gust of wind before warming up the coffee that had gone cold in its pot. It’s most days where he good-naturedly pesters Mountain in his greenhouse while going from plant to plant to water them and offer some earthly coaxing of growth. It’s most days where he can tune into the same quintessence frequency as Aether and Aeon and make sure neither were overextending themselves.

Yes, Swiss would say he is very proud of what he could do for his pack.

After all, a Jack of all trades and master of none is far greater still than a master of one.
