Needles to say he’s over the moon. Only later does it occur to you that he doesn’t seem to grasp common slang, nor metaphorical talks for that matter. He takes things quite literally and you have to consider your wording before opening your mouth. That doesn’t stop you, however, from having a response ready at all times. That’s what Ticci-Toby really likes about you, you’re always there to ground him. It’s your raspy, mildly annoyed voice that snaps him out of his terrible paranoid episodes. He’s come to cherish the awakening “Are you mental, mate?”

He finds hanging out with you very comforting. In fact, both of you have started this little ritual of him draining his chatty moods while you sit in front of a mirror and do your makeup, interjecting every now and then with a little feedback. He gets to empty his brain of all the erratic thoughts and simultaneously admire your appearance. You’re perfect. For him, particularly.

Ben Drowned

Once again you’re woken up by the loud static in the living room. You drag your legs over to the TV with a knackered groan and slap the remote. Your ex partner had forgotten their video game at your place and ever since you’ve been getting outlandish messages and images stuck on the screen. Who would even play this? Did the game somehow mess up with your TV? This time it won’t turn off despite your attempts. The screen is frozen and you can make out a faded, pixelated text plastered in the corner: “It’s lonely here. Would you join me?”

Ben is fascinated by you and has been so ever since he’s been brought to this place. The forgotten video game was not unintentional: Ben had a fair amount of amusement from haunting your partner, and in a moment of despair they hoped relocating this cursed item would put the focus on someone else, like you. Although you’re rather oblivious to his scare tactics. This time is no different, but now he’s no longer interested in terrorizing you. Quite the opposite. How would you respond to his flustered confessions?

Being with Ben is a surreal experience, given that he can switch between the physical and digital realm with ease. He enjoys teasing you and lately he’s been cheeky in different ways, such as engaging in playful banter regarding your style and accent. It’s all in good fun and you do enjoy his humor. Though you wish he’d skip the riddles that only confuse you most of the time, or the sudden disappearances.

Eyeless Jack

Despite your repeated promises to yourself that you won’t go overboard with drinking ever again, here you are blacked out after a particularly lively party. To your defense, you didn’t expect to be woken up by some bizarre creature, and similarly it seems the man didn’t anticipate you’d be shaken out of your intoxicated state. You can see the glistening of a sharp tool in his hand and instantly sober up.

Both of you are stuck, contemplating the next move. Should Jack just kill you now? If he’s fast enough, you won’t have time to scream for too long. Then again, he does take pride in his silent surgical extractions. A messy fight would just go against his purpose. Your nostrils expand as they begin to accommodate to his presence. You sniff loudly a few times and gag involuntarily. Something stinks. “It’s you. You smell so shabby!” you exclaim and abruptly get up, reaching for your handbag that had been abandoned next to your bed earlier. You aggressively rustle its contents until you finally pull out a Victoria’s Secret perfume bottle. Satisfied, you begin spraying around the hooded man. He can only stare at you, speechless. “I cannot!” you keep repeating in disbelief.

Jack had snuck into your apartment hoping to leave with a fresh kidney and instead ended up perfumed and insulted by a drunken character. It’s this shameless unpredictability that has gotten him hopelessly interested in you. He loves to see your reactions and finds you greatly entertaining. On your end, you find him a proper, quirky lad, although a bit of a nutter. You’re also getting better at tolerating his intense odor that reminds you of black pudding. On one occasion Jack has offered to share his grisly nightly hunts with you, but you casually refused because you’ve got to stay snatched.

fun fact!!!! this party did not exist in the original outline. it was supposed to jump from the christmas party at their parents to oscar's office party and then a wholeass honeymoon. the honeymoon plot eventually got scrapped and the new year's party got added. which at the time i had reasons for but i cannot remember them? i think i just felt like i had to do something with new year's because it was right there and so it became this party. also originally i had plans for lando to walk back into the party after the moment with oscar in the kichen to find max and charles making out, and thus sort of furthering their side plot but ultimately it didnt work out and so now it's just heavily implied that they did.

SO this street was based on a street in my town that just has a bunch of local shops in it. i remember i was waiting at the airport and i was just pingponging ideas around and then the "yeah but the french are... the french" dialogue popped into my brain and i was like haha. i could do something with that??? anyway most of the jobs were just me and the tsgc discord dicking around thinking of what would be funny (loads of stuff never really made it in. alex owns a pet store for example, and i don't know if it ever gets explicitly stated that lewis owns a lingerie store) and stuff that made sense? as for the friendships/personalities they just kind of came natural to me i guess. charles made sense to me as a yoga instructor and i think him and lando just have a rlly fun dynamic (LANDO. LANDO WE CAN BE WORLD CHAMPIONS I SAID. LANDO) max and daniel are a fucking HOOT when it comes to writing banter, something i've explored before in glitch and i think they make sense as business partners. also they work great as a peanut gallery because max is very blunt and daniel is just. daniel. george. do i have to explain george i think out of ALL of them he's the best casted character in this entire fic. owns a bridal store. runs the community meetings. is weirdly anal about all of it. i love him so much actually this entire fic is just a love letter to george.

out of all the life series duos/teams, which one is your favorite and why?

Etho and Bdubs in Last Life! (Also being in team B.E.S.T was a bonus)

Those two have such a great dynamic so having them in a team where you can watch their banter constantly was an absolute treat.

How the series went for them was so so entertaining!! It felt story like with all the ups and downs! They were just put through so much. I was definitely on the edge of my seat most episodes hoping nothing ridiculous would happen to them 😂 the stress was real lol

The series started off tense for them with Bdubs being the boogeyman right off the bat, but he avoided killing Etho opting for anyone else who he thought he could beat or at least get the upperhand on.

Then Etho was so determined to save Bdubs and keep him alive time and time again, even when Bdubs was trying to kill him once he turned red. Tricking Scar, then signing a contract with him once Bdubs life was threatened again.

Bdubs killing Tango, then Tango hiring Scar to kill Bdubs and Etho trying to talk Scar out of it, which ends up in him threatening Scar back.

And then the end, where they part ways so that Bdubs can prove he's worthy of another life by killing a red name, but it ends up in his death... and Etho is saddened and regrets not giving him the life sooner. ;~;

Also when Etho finally died and his whole "unfortunately... didn't win it for Bdubs, but um... he didn't win it for me either! haha. Just kidding Bdubs, I love you" 🥺🥺🥺 MMWJWKSKEKWKWJWI thank you for the punch in the chest sir

Not Supposed to Scratch by Mysticetacean has a really fun dynamic of Sokka wanting and being embarrassed by how much he wants Zuko to hold him down, and Zuko clocking it in about half a second and fully delivering.

Real Slow by surveycorpsjean is a great post-canon fic from get-together to staying together to living their lives together, that also features some fun sex scenes

The Predictably As series by HisMomoness is all-around stellar and features a bottom Sokka. Truly a delightful modern AU meet cute.

In The Crease by beersforqueers is a really fun modern hockey AU where Sokka and Zuko are both in the NHL, just a whole lot of PWP in a fun setting

Anything agni_kai writes is great, and work from home has a fun subby Sokka experimenting with sex toys and with semi-publicly torturing Zuko with lust

i don't think i could tell u why i ship them if i'm honest. i'm the type of person of who doesn't really have reasons for shipping things haha i just see something and if it tickles my brain, then i go ooh!! i like that!!! and that would be the case for sukugo too :D they just make me happy <33

but i guess i could talk about what i think makes them a really great ship

like, the thing about sukuna and gojo is that they're strong. the strongest. both the strongest from their respective times. and that leads to a lot of fun parallels between them and their positions and their ways of being (things that are now being explored in canon!). which means that they're the only ones who truly get each other.

they're equals. and in a world where they have no equals, a life where they are at the pinnacle of everything, the lonely (and boring!) top, where no one else seems to truly get them, to truly challenge them and bring some semblance of excitement, of feeling, into their lives, but then now there's this other person who is finally finally able to give them what they want, what they need. someone who can actually contain them, give them enough to get them to their breaking point, or take enough from them and not break. it's a joyful thing!!

(and the fact that the manga directly uses the term love to make reference to that oh my god. they found love in each other. that's textual.) (i seriously went feral crazy insane when i read that anon)

i think one thing that does factor in inside my love for them is that gojo is my fave and i love breaking him and doing all kinda things to him, so i saw sukuna and it was like oh. he might be able to deal with him :)

and another thing is that they're just fun!!! their dynamic is super fun!!! both their personalities mesh so well together (don't think anyone in-universe would agree haha, but i mean that in the sense that both their personalities are incredibly fun together, they're very entertaining to watch)

Since I've been wanting to give characters little embellishments and such, I definitely feel like Kalim probably has some little scars here and there, while Jamil probably has bigger ones that just show up as fainter, like little lighter lines on his hands and arms

The tweels DEFINITELY have scars with how the two of them are, plus I'm really fond of the idea of them having what looks like scarring where their fins and gills usually are so it's like.. a hint at their lack of being human- same extends to Azul but you know he takes great care in his appearance and probably learned about creams and things that reduce scarring and immediately tried out half a dozen (tho I think he also has faint stretch marks on his stomach, thighs, and sides)

Riddle and Trey is also a ship I think is quite fun! But I'm also weak for childhood friends with blooming romance, even outside of romantic content I enjoy seeing them being friends a lot and seeing people making comics about them growing up together since it's always very cute

Oh ho ho!! I'm actually glad you asked this bc I've been thinking about it a lot lately.

2003 raph is prob one of my favorite turtles in 03. I've only watched the first two seasons of the show, but I love his snark. He has some of the best comeback lines and his dynamic with Mikey is one of my favorite aspects of the show. His "yo mama" line is something I think about a lot haha.

Now 2012 raph. Ohhhh boy him. Having gotten through the first three seasons of 2012, my perception of him has changed drastically. If you showed me just the first two episodes of 2012 (and like...first half of season 1) I would've told you raph is a horrible brother who is nothing more than a bully. But I've watched three seasons of 2012 now and SOMEHOW he's become one of my favorites. Maybe it's bc they soften him a bit in later seasons. Maybe it's bc sometimes I'd sit there and be like...damn he has a right to be angry (I will actually never forgive splinter's "lesson" in s1ep3). Maybe I like really flawed characters? Idk. But as someone whos first introduction of the character was rise/2012 fics, I've now since grown an appreciation for him. 2012 had an extremely rough start with his character, since ya. He was a bully and oftentimes extremely out of pocket with insults. (but honestly all the 2012 turtles were. Raph was just the biggest offender). But like all raphs he's secretly a big softie that's masked by a rough exterior. 2012 raph is what happens if that softness is made fun of and seen as a weakness instead of strength. (Also if the writers don't understand the difference between banter and bullying until like season 2 coughcough) So ya, he's one of my favs now. I have way too much to say about him

♡ As of now, Chemistry is my darkest fic. I was originally going to write for Yandere! Dottore x Yandere! Reader until I got inspired by the biochemistry of love. Thus we ended up with a body-horror-esque story about Dottore breaking his darling through science. I found it quite fun to write about a darling who is more needy and obsessive than the yandere~

♡ Assistant! darling is a mix of the common darling tropes for Dottore:: old friend + test subject + fellow scientist + devoted supporter + Akademiya batchmate + Fatui assistant. I wanted to combine those different relationships and I’m quite happy with the final result. Compared to my other yandere fics, Dottore x Assistant’s dynamic has more banter and familiarity.

ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ Characters ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ

♡ Rip among the Harbingers, Dottore was the most difficult to write for. For his Webttore and Primettore characterizations, I rlly wanted to highlight the differences between his younger and older self. His dialogue alone required the most source-checking for that proper balance of prose and scientific speech :’>

♡ Dottore strikes me as a very sadistic yandere who wants to be entertained in the relationship. His “love” starts out as morbid fascination, and he originally views his darling as an expendable test subject. As his feelings develop, he becomes more averse to harming her but nonetheless remains very cruel and controlling.

♡ Additional notes on Yandere! Dottore~

♡ Assistant’s character is more self-insert-friendly than my other darlings. This is because her breaking point/ Dottore’s methods don’t require any psychoanalysis or detailed backstory, excluding what started her crush on him. Because of her healthy upbringing and prestige as an Akademiya scholar, she is more confident, outspoken, and (academically) intelligent.

♡ My own name and appearance for Assistant

♡ After the Archon Quest, I had to give the Segments more scenes!! Each clone views/ treats Assistant differently—the older the Segment, the more fondness he feels towards her. Their rivalry was very entertaining haha Dottore get exposed by yourself

ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ Elixir ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ

♡ For the elixir, I was inspired by irl studies on love’s effects on the physical body. The drug’s main purpose was to alter the hypothalamus’s production of “happy hormones,” causing hormone deficiencies and addiction-like symptoms. This is how Assistant’s genuine feelings turned into unhealthy codependency.

♡ As for the other effects, Dottore told the truth when he said that it would rewire the circadian rhythm and improve the immune system. That was inspired by the news story about a Russian scientist who injected himself with ancient bacteria lol. I incorporated the Nilotpala lotus to make it sound scientifically legit and tug at Assistant’s heartstrings bc AAHH ZANDIK MADE SMTH OUT OF HER RESEARCH :’0

ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ Literary Motifs ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ

♡ Science of love – Since we’re talking about Dottore, I couldn’t write his fic without making it all sciencey. It was fun to write about the different scientific terms/ theories related to attraction from chemical hormones to the golden ratio.

♡ Secret – This is an important concept to Assistant, since sharing secrets requires a certain degree of trust and closeness. Given the ambiguity of her relationship with Dottore……yeahhh she values that sign of intimacy. This recurring theme is also kind of ironic, since science is about sharing knowledge.

♡ Godhood – For Magnum Opus, I wanted to incorporate more of Dottore’s canon lore. It was easy to draw a parallel between love and worship since both have themes of euphoria, devotion, and power.

ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ Chapter Titles ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ

♡ Scientific terms – Fun fact, most of my prewriting work came from googling all of those love hormones, physical reactions, etc. I’m pretty sure that I spent more time researching those irl terms over Genshin lore -.-

♡ Research notes – I wanted to provide details on the experiment and show the progression of Dottore’s feelings *cough* his comment on Assistant’s “cute” expression, the use of Assistant’s name *cough* I used Zandik’s Legacy and Eleazar Hospital Notes as my reference.

ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ Deleted Scenes ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ

♡ ii. blood rush originally had a scene where Assistant cuts class to spend time with Dottore at Devantaka Mountain. He was going to visit her classroom and convince her to skip her boring lecture.

♡ The golden ratio scene in viii. vasopressin was originally the moment Assistant begins crushing on Dottore. I transferred that scene to a later stage of their relationship since it felt “too soon” for Dottore to say that. I might recycle that scene as an independent one-shot someday, because his darling falling for the parts of Webttore which aren’t considered scientifically beautiful!!

♡ The first draft of Magnum Opus had a conversation where Dottore compares his Segments to the idea of naturally conceiving a child with his darling. This is another scene which I might post separately one day if I feel like it. All I can say is that I’m never writing anything with family/ children for Dottore.

♡ It’s the tension which kills it for me. Dottore’s charming threats, Assistant almost realizing the truth, the obvious red flags, THE KISS WHICH FOLLOWS!! I was worried about how the scene would play out, but it turned out quite nicely compared to the first draft And yes, his darling gets special folder rights.

Kiss scenes + First Time + Somnophilia

♡ I f*cking died writing those scenes. Ofc Dottore’s fic has the most spice. Ofc he is the character who made me write about detailed makeouts and somnophilia for the first time. Ofc I had to highlight the difference between Webttore and Primettore’s kisses. I hate this harness-wearing man with every fiber of my being. And if I didn’t make this headcanon clear enough through the hair-pulling and mutual love bites, I’ll say it here:: He is a switch.

Conclusion of the experiment

♡ Unhappy ending time!! From the start, I wanted x. pair bond to be about Dottore testing his darling’s loyalty and revealing his own feelings. My browsing history was full of search results for “how to write a choking scene” rip. Also aaahh Dottore’s messy appearance, bare arms, and soft gaze~

♡ The ending of Magnum Opus turned out much softer than expected. The last research note…….Dottore and Assistant finally doing something unrelated to research…….watching the sunrise together again…….Dottore’s scarf and their banter…….his soft resignment to his feelings!! The experiment is a success <3

I love stony because I’m a sucker for their opposites attract and quick banter from the movies. There’s just so much sexual tension there. You can’t say they aren’t thinking about each other. I just love the idea that Steve never really got to have much of a romantic storyline in the MCU so Tony being the playboy he is, settling down with Steve to have a family.

Hmm 🤔 headcannon. Good question! I’m gonna need to think on that one haha 😆

This one I like because of the Stony dynamic. I love how protective Tony is of Steve. How much they function like a family.

Hi! I came across your Domino Squad fic a few years ago, fell in love with it, rediscovered it last year, and have reread it happily many times over ever since! Eee! Thank you so much, you're so kind, and I'm so glad you could get some enjoyment out of my fic!

One thing that sometimes helps me if I get writer's block is to skip ahead and write a scene that I'm actually excited for instead of something that feels boring at that time! Sometimes this means I jump ahead a little bit, sometimes a LOT, like end of the book a lot haha, but it gets me excited and gets ideas flowing. I can figure out how to connect the cool scenes later. Another thing that helps is lowering my laptop screen so that I can't see what I'm writing as I type, that's a great way to just get stuff out without worrying too much about the small details. You can go back and edit later! And honestly sometimes I just have to switch projects for a while, or take a genuine break. Even though it's annoying sometimes I just have to chill until I'm ready and excited to write again!

For the Domino squad dynamics, I think that Fives and Echo are so iconic. Their pasts as ARCs allows me to do fun things with them. They've got a history, and they're so experienced that there's always fun unspoken communication I can put between the two of them. In my most recent chapter I did some brief but fun banter between Echo and Cutup as well, which I found to be delightful and I think I'll be exploring it more in the future! I also have a soft spot for Fives and DB.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR WESSA SPICY, U WRITE SPICY SO FREAKING WELL! I also have never thought about historical spicy stuff. which obviously happened cuz hello folks back then did it as well, it's not just a present day thing haha.

I think I just feel ur engagement is way more motivating and higher than CC's. Obv CC has mad kudos for creating this Universe, but like any author who has made It so clear that she wants to move on from the universe, the fun part is playing within it YK? Not just creating plots and marriages just so that the union and the good ending is the telos of it. The pay off is now seeing them banter about together, have the dynamics shift as they age, see how they view the world and how they continue to problem solve yk? And it gets even more fun when you create ensemble casts, bc THATS why Downton abbey is so long! It's so much fun to see it through, throughout!

An example I use is I follow these two authors who LOVEE their book universes, and also write generational fun family (modern day) ensamble casts with friends, and they spend normally 3-4 books focused on one character's OTP, seeing it through, throughout, and than moving onto another. Not the traditional stickler predictable "one book per pairing" in a series we see too often. AND THAN, when they move on, they continue to write publish 2 bonus chapters, update their interests boards, and talk about everything on their Patreon for like less than 3 dollars a month. there are over 100+ chapters now at this point!

Not to say that's what CC wants to do, but when you have amounted such a huge fandom, a lot of it is not just about making annual deliverables and canon events occur, but having fun just domestically and I feel like she doesn't want to do that. Which is totally fine! I respect that. But obviously the type of fan I am, as you can see, I gravitate towards the way you produce, engage and write (u write for yourself and ur fans, yes u have fans and I am one) more so than her. That's kind of what I was trying to get at in my initial post :-). Bc when CC wants to move on, it feel so lovely and safe, to know my safe space won't go, because ur still leading it. <3 <3 So again, from the bottom to the top of my heart, thank you <3

I think I understand what you're saying - Cassie does a really good job of creating characters and telling their stories. I consider her to be one of the best creators of our time, specifically in TID and TLH as well as Sword Catcher (even if that one has less of a hold on me, it's inarguably one of her best works world-building and plot-wise.) But yes, sometimes you just want little fluffy post-canon stories of the characters, which is not always possible for a world-famous writer with tons of ongoing projects. I'm looking forward to Better in Black a lot because of this.

I just write what I want to see and roll with it. I am glad that it's what you want to see, too.

I think there are two of us here that are new askers but also have been asking a lot. Probably both got into the manga recently because of the anime. But just goes to show how good your posts are and how much we love your insight on a character like Chilchuck. I don't know how he became my favorite character, but I love the depth and flaws and facets of the characters.

Also you're probably one of the few people who ship Marchil and their dynamic is so underrated I think.

Ok so some of these are more debatable than others, for example shriveled up Chil after the succubus in the laughing section could be blissed out instead of still laughing at Marcille’s bad taste, and in the upper right corner the sitting Chils are reacting to Marcille’s dream dalclan fanfiction and not to her exactly, but close enough. Besides how he always teases her so much this is why I say Marcille makes him laugh (and blush) the most. He loves laughing at her so much 🧍So romantic /j They are so romcom shaped to me I’m sorry

and i don't care it's obvious by @alwaysxlarrie / alwaysxlarrie (21k, T, Harry/Louis, 1000 Feelings fic, childhood friends to lovers, Louis is Gemma's bff, pining, friends to lovers, flirting, getting together, I preread pieces of this fic and already knew it would be so cute, and it really was, it was filled with so much of that sweet and innocent longing, that i remember so well from when i was younger, and it was just so fun to read that particular storyline here)

Advent Drabbles by @berzerkshires / berzerkshires (E, 3k, Harry/Louis, Advent fic, Christmas fic, drabbles, canon compliant, established relationship, every day a 100 word drabble posted, and it was incredible how drawn in I was with so few words, when I realized the final word count was that small, yet so much was gone over, it was amazing, such a fun read and little morsels of goodness every day was a joy)

Set the Sky Alight, Oh Holy Night by @londonfoginacup / LadyLondonderry (34k, T, Harry/Louis, Zayn/Liam, Niall/Lewis, Advent fic, Christmas fic, crack fic, yet also inspired by a true story, wild lollll, roommates, strangers to lovers, coworkers, unsafe living conditions, truly i have no idea how oli let them continue living there lmao, this fic is a classic emmu advent fic, and it DELIVERS on the humor and ridiculous situations, as well as the tenderness and incredibly sweet affection, always a journey and a joy to read her advent fics)

make you mine this season by @disgruntledkittenface / disgruntledkittenface (29k, M, Nick Grimshaw/Louis, Harry/Zayn, Advent fic, Christmas fic, girl direction, the Holiday AU basically haha, miscommunication, flirting, everyone's American, a plethora of lesbian jokes that are jokes because they're real for these disastrous girls haha, Nick and Harry are besties who mix up their Christmas holiday surprises for each other, by planning the same thing for each other on the same day, leaving them stuck in each other's cities without the other, and it is FANTASTIC OMG, I'm not joking when I told Maggie that if I hadn't already had my big bi revelation, this fic would have pushed me to it, LOVED IT SO MUCH)
