Feeling things about how different Luffy is from the Vinsmokes, and how odd that might have seemed to Sanji at first.

Luffy is strong because he's emotional. If Luffy were someone the Vinsmoke family would approve of, he would not keep getting back up to fight for some complete strangers.

Sanji has never met someone like that before in his life. Zeff was strong, but he was strong in a way that fit with Judge's worldview.

Luffy, without even realizing it, managed to decouple the idea of emotion and badassery in his mind.

its crazy that oda can just come up with stuff, draw it and then its canon. like, one day he just decided that sanjis mom was a positive person even when facing hardships, a light in a place full of darkness. and then he made sanji meet luffy whos also a positive person even when facing hardships, who keeps on bringing light to the darkest of places. insane that oda made sanji grow up in a big cold-looking palace distant from his siblings and father and then made him join luffys crew, having to live on a ship where everything and everyone is close and warm, and he can sit at this cramped table and bask in the light that luffy emanates. it makes me sick that luffy praises him for the things about him that his father hates.

like, when he finally left his real father (zeff) it was to follow the person who mirrors his mother. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO LIVE MY LIFE NORMALLY AFTER THAT?????

AND ANOTHER THING. the way the whole thing between them in whole cake island was very similar to those coming of age stories of teenagers having a problem and instead of doing what their parent says they try to solve it on their own and then it snowballs (and a fake friend lets them down) and then they come back to the parent asking for help and the parent is happy to help??? you can't tell me im wrong bro

im not saying sanji sees luffy as his actual parent or anything. overall luffy is his idiot friend and fearless captain whom he needs to keep away from the fridge and help become the pirate king. but sometimes he will look at him and sees a glimpse of his mom, and thats it
