So, the long-awaited and much-requested fan favourite Separate Ways campaign is finally being added as DLC tomorrow for Resident Evil 4... let's take a look at the promo for it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Out of a total of six (not counting posts that also mention Mercenaries or VR as Ada doesn't need to be the solo focus on those) posts across all Resident Evil social media, Ada is only featured in half of them, and they just had to shoehorn Luis in because he had to have a bigger role this time around for some reason. Oh but he's not alone. Wesker is also being promoted instead of the main character, including in the actual LAUNCH TRAILER for the campaign because...? Why is this happening exactly???
Ada is one one of the most popular characters in the franchise yet she's being cast aside for a throwaway side character and a villain who had barely any screen time in the original game. Would Capcom do the same to Chris or Leon?
This coming after a witch hunt that ensued for days over Ada's new voice actress, whom Capcom did nothing to protect and even continued to work with one of the streamers who were part of instigating the flame war against Lilly Gao, does nothing but to sour the whole thing.
I'm sorry if you're mad I called Wesker ugly yesterday but I also honestly don't care, at all.
Dozens upon dozens of posts about how "Leon should date Claire / Chris / Luis / My OC / Me (seriously wtf) instead of that bitch Ada" or "Ada sucks" or "Ada doesn't deserve Leon, Leon would be much better off with someone like me (...y'all need help) I would make him truly happy" are infuriatingly tiring to go through on a daily basis. And no, Ada's self worth as a character shouldn't be focused on her, very canon and very mutual, romantic attraction towards Leon and THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT.
This is supposed to be Ada's moment, not as Leon's sidekick, not as an afterthought but as the protagonist and extra Luis and Wesker screen time, both of whom are dead and will never be seen again in the series, takes away A LOT from that. This is not needed. This is not appreciated. This would not happen if it was the other way around. Ada's DLC would sell without the extra Luis and Wesker fanservice. This is NOT ABOUT THEM.

Hihihi!!!!! I Hope You don’t mind yet another ask from me!!!!!!! I’ve already said this before but I absolutely adore the way you answer questions and analyse stuff, it’s such a breath of fresh air to see!!!! This is totally self-indulgent so I hope you don’t mind me asking, but do you have any personal headcannons/analysis thoughts on Luis perhaps??? It feels strange to admit but he’s a very big special interest of mine so I just wanted an excuse to hear somebody else’s thoughts on him!! I hope You’re having a good day regardless!!!!
Always happy to see an ask from you, and don't even start with the strangeness or self-indulgence of being really into or asking about Luis; just yesterday I was wondering whether I should wait for spring to get a splish splash fish ankle tattoo or just do it now and deal with an itchy ankle in my winter boots lol...
So yeah, Luis is my love my turtledove the light of my life and I would LOVE the chance to talk about him!!! He was one half of why I got into resi in the first place (serennedy had me like 'hmmmm maybe horror games are not too scary for me if they have cuties in them....'), and every time I think about him my brain does that thing where you put your head in your hands and sigh while cartoon hearts float up above you...
He's just..... So good.... And despite that, he's made SUCH shitty choices. I love how painful that is for him, but that he's got enough self awareness to understand when he fucks up. He doesn't try to blame anyone else - he faces his mistakes and his own shortcomings (pride, willful ignorance, cowardice) head on, and tries so desperately to make up for them, even as he keeps making them.
I love that he's not some perfect angel, that he hangs on to the amber and intends on handing it over to Ada at first, in exchange for getting out of Valdelobos, despite knowing full well that no good will come of that. The part in Separate Ways where he tells her he doesn't care who she works for, could be the devil himself, so long as she gets him out of there was so shocking for me to hear at first, but then I realized that's the core of his tragedy - that he's a good man trapped in a horrible situation, and he's scared, he wants out, he wants to live so badly! Unlike Leon, he's got a healthy dose of self-preservation, and honestly, if I were in his shoes I would probably make the same choices.
But still - he runs into the burning lab, he risks his life to get the suppressant to Leon, he tells Ada he won't leave her, he picks up his 'lance' and says alright, let's go rescue the princess! He's so full of regret and fear and he keeps making shitty choices, but he also keeps doing the right thing.
The way he's written and acted is so rich and nuanced. Watching him, I understand exactly where he's coming from and every single one of his choices. Out of all the characters in re4r he feels the most real to me, the most human. Every second he's on screen is a joy, even the horrible painful seconds at the end.
I wanted him to live so badly, and not just because I like him, but because he wanted to live so badly... All the re6 AU's I've seen floating around where he meets up with Leon again are among my favourite things to come out of this fandom!! I know Capcom is never gonna do that, but in my head it's canon: when Ada told the helicopter pilot to change course she actually went back for Luis, gave him a little first aid spray, and then they joined forces and lalalala everything is fine!!
Ok I'm gonna wrap it up cause if I keep talking about him I'm gonna be late for work, but thank you so much for the chance to gush!! I love Luis so much and I think about him all the time.... My sweet bisexual disaster man..... Going to his death with a smile:

Unhinged Luis simp confession -
So like I've been dying to just admit it but like I hated Krauser with every fiber of my being. All my fellow Luis lovers can agree but my partner just had to start sharing more stuff about him.
I ended up liking Krauser too ironically
Someone take re from me,,I got to many crushes
I’ve got something equally unhinged to admit,,,,,,,,,, I also was like, “eh, I don’t hate him (I honestly very rarely hate ANY character) but he’s far from a favourite” and then my friend started making fanart. And fics. And edits.
And I was like.
Ok Yknow what. Yeah he’s kinda cute.
Like damn king what’ve you got such a tiny waist for?????????? And what’ve you got such chubby cheeks for???????????? For OTHER MEN TO GRAB???????? 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨

Happy FFWF ❤️💙
Walk me through your beautiful mind and tell me how you chose your love stories for your character.
Thanks for the ask! Warning: Long post ahead.
Okay so first, I played it safe with HPHM, putting them with canon characters.
David and Merula, I honestly loved the foil that MC and Merula are for each other in the main story of HPHM. However, it could have done with a lot more fleshing out, which is really what I wanted to do in creating their relationship.
Whether they're enemies or just rivals to lovers is up for debate but regardless I liked their at first very contentious relationship gradually developing into an admission of respect. It culminated in the two catching feelings for each other, Merula defending him and eventually the two dating. The rest as they say, is history.
Amelia and Chiara, now I tend to flip flop on this as I really do like the thought of Amelia travelling the world, taking down creature poaching operations and breaking hearts. On the other, I do like Amelia and Chiara meeting up again later in life and kindling an unspoken love for each other.
Phoenix and Erika, these two are the loosest as I haven't had much time to develop them. But, I like the thought of them being rivals to lovers, Phoenix being one of the few able to truly get under Erika's skin.
For everyone else, it's a little different, with a lack of knowledge or interest in the canon of HPHL and HPMA, I started going with OC x OC ships instead. I’m a great fan of the idea that shipping can be used to really help grow and develop both halves of the ship. So I cast my line into the great sea of OCs and see who bit first. Thus, I wound up with Leila, Gareth, Lydia (@rogueharrington), Asher  (@cursebreakerfarrier) and Hazel (@kc-and-co). Also, Valentina  (@camillejeaneshphm)
I love Reubeila being able to find a loving family in each other after experiencing a horrible home life. I love Clareth’s will they/won’t they yet there’s still a fierce sort of loyalty between them. I love Marilyd’s friendly rivalry that developed into friendship and then one of the most amazing romances. I love Asher and Robin’s angsty side that let Robin show a bit of softness in contrast to the loud, brash, goofy girl that she usually is. I love Nick and Hazel, I feel like it would make Nick more confident, and I adore the support they would have for the other’s ambitions. Luis, my Marauder’s era boy and his tragic romance with Valentina is also one of my favourites for the fact that they knew they loved each other but never quite got there.
But overall, what I really look for in a ship? Satisfaction, plain and simple. Whether they become life partners, strike out on their own or if the romance ends with a hint of tragedy, as long as it was a satisfying journey and conclusion, I’m okay with how any ship turns out.

Honestly, all of your interpretations of Gregory's adorable, especially your latest one. Makes me want to just boop his nose...at least if I wasn't sure he'd try to bite it off considering I'd effectively be a stranger an all. XD
As for questions? I have one random one that doesn't really pertain to your AU, and more of a curiosity, but how do you think things would've went if instead of Freddy, Gregory ended up hiding in Chica's room, and she was the one not being infected by the virus? Cause it's either been Freddy, Month or Roxy, but I've never seen Chica, so it's a bit of a curiosity.
As for the question pertaining to your actual AU, how old would you say the characters are in it? I'm curious since depending on the art style, a character can look older or younger than they actually are, and I want to know how old Gregory is considering he was being chased for a majority of the night by the Termina--Infected Animetronics. Especially considering the trauma and nightmares that'll come through. I know I'd have nightmares if I had DJ Music Man tossing "Arcade" Cabinets at me like cheese puffs.
Wow this was a long one- wasn't expecting that, but I'm happy ya came in, i love answering ya questions :D
Firstly, I'm glad you enjoy my design for him! My sister says that she likes how i draw his nose bc like you, she wants to boop it, so honestly I'm glad! I was trying to achieve some sort of child like cuteness with him :>
As for the, not au question about chica, that's actually interesting, and i agree there isn't enough stuff with her, especially bc she was one of my long time favourite animatronics, sadly idk how to answer it properly, but i balive that she'd be useful with her voice box, tho i don't think she'd know, Gregory would probably like "trick" her into singing after finding out how it affects the others so he could like do whatever he needed to, like "hey, maybe if you sing to them it can distract them enough so i could do this!" And it's technically not a lie either, she'd probably get distracted by food, which probably would annoy Gregory, but nothing bad, just a small drawback
She'd probably be very sweet too, wondering where his parents are, probably be a bit intrusive with it till Gregory shuts the topic off, she'd talk alot too, slipping out some useful information without realising, but that's personal to me bc i see her as someone who talks alot ig, but in a good way
For the last question, i plan on making a character sheet for each of them (not the animatronics, not yet at least) it will say their ages and sum fun facts that, will probably be spoilers but it's nothing major, but to get an idea, vanessa and luis are around their early 20s, while Gregory is younger then 12 :)
And yeah, the trauma will be explored through my comic, it's a healing comic after all, it won't magically be better the next day, and it's something i really do enjoy, studying a character, Gregory will be interesting bc well, he's a kid and i usually work around teens and adults easily, but so far I'm having fun exploring his character, I have a younger cousin around 11 so since I'll make him around her age I'll base it a bit on what i know with her, plus a few other kids I've seen before, I'm trying to go out more and see ppl so i can be able to study them for the characters-

tagged by @benoitblanc, @brucewyane and @martacabreras to do a content creator: year in review! thank you for tagging me, ily 💖💖
first creation and most recent creation of 2020: ooo, so i only started giffing about four months ago and the first set i posted was tony+tiny chairs because i found it really cute, hehe. my most recent one would be this clint+natasha parallel scene in cacw/endgame which, ouch.
one of your favorite creations from 2020: i really like this rhodey + hyping himself up set for no reason other than the fact he’s such a dork. i also liked my the greatest showman set because a) one of my favourite movies and b) dancing!!! so i had a lot of fun giffing those shots<3
a creation you’re really proud of: probably this tribes of wakanda set which i had a lot fun colouring, and i was pretty happy with how the fonts and the colors turned out!
a new style you tried this year and a gifset that uses it: i really like the trend of adding lyrics/quotes to characters, and i ended up wanting to do one of those myself - with the extra addition of playing around with different fonts and styles - so i ended up doing this tony set with the lyrics to 'gold’! :D
a creation that took you forever: the same tony set i just mentioned above! there were a lot of keywords in the lyrics to gold that i wanted to bring out, and trying to find the right fonts + adding the color fade effects took me quite some time, hehe 😌
your creation from 2020 that received the most notes: this tribes of wakanda set!
a creation you think deserved more notes: probably this luis set? i just love him a lot, and i’m always cracking up at his reactions - very underrated character, has all my smooches
a creation with a favourite scene/quote: words cannot express how much i love the scene in im2 when rhodey beat tony’s ass for calling him a sidekick. it’s just hilarious watching rhodey smack him with a metal pipe for every syllable of the sentence shdhjsj and. i mean, i love tony, but the guy had it comin’ :/
a new fandom you joined and a creation you made for it: schitt’s creek isn’t a new fandom, but i got into it just under a month ago (3 days binge-watch, rip) and i made this set because i found it an absolutely hilarious representation of spoilt rich kids
a creation you made that breaks your heart: definitely my tony stark: sacrificing himself for peace aaannd this happy and rhodey parallel set </3 parallels always leave me in agony, rip, but watch me gobble up each and every one of them ✨
a ‘simple creation that you really love: i really love this m’baku set! finding out that the jabari worshipped one of my hindu gods really had me !!! and i just had to gif it. oooo, also this cacw natasha set because just, ugh, what a look.
a creation that was inspired by another one: this tony one! it wasn’t just one creation that inspired it, but a handful of sets with song lyrics/quotes with really pretty font and effects, and i just couldn’t hold myself back hehe
a favorite creation created by someone else: this greatest showman+songs set, this spiderverse set, this samnat art, this natasha set, this og6 set, this sambucky art, this schitt’s creek + dancing set, this thor+nat art, this ramonda art, and this infinity war set (there are honestly so many more but most of these are just the ones i saw in december 💖)
some of your favourite content creators from the year: ohhhh this is gonna be a lot, but!! here goes @steviebuds @danieljradcliffe @emraanhashmi @niinazenik @clintfbarton @magnusedom @chris-evans, @timothyolyphant @jackmans @kennyortegas @capsgrantrogers @ourteeth @newgenesis @katecastle @deckerschloe @rainbowrogers @bartonclinton @ssaoirse @twillight @daenerys-targaryen @jynersoss @bicarols
and for good measure, a couple more creations of yours that you love: this tfatws sam wilson set, green t-shirt rhodey, helen cho in aou, and this maya hansen + tony set 😌✨
tagging: everyone i tagged above! 💜

Random asks! Do you have a favourite character and if so why are they your favourite? What’s your favourite word? What’s your opinion on house plants? (Don’t worry about it if you don’t wanna answer!)
- @idle-thyme
Morning/Evening Thyme!! I love random asks thank you! ❤️❤️
Honestly my favorite character is Boromir. I feel like we’re fairly similar with broken families and struggling with keeping up the “good child” image if that makes sense?
My favorite word omg uhhh, probably biscuit. I try not to curse too much so I’ve been saying biscuit isn’t of b**ch. and to me just like saying biscuit at times then suddenly yelling b**tch out of nowhere is hilarious
I LOVE House plants I have 8 currently. I used to have two more but one of them didn’t survive my last move, and the other shriveled and died when it got too cold in my room when I wasn’t home for a week. I want more plants :(
Ik you didn’t ask but I love my children. So their names are; Po, Cerberus, Hulk, Deku, Mina, Eduardo, Milk, King Luis
The dead ones were; Nausicaa and Kuro ( @little-miss-raven pls I’m sorry I’ve been in denial for the past year and kept his corpse)

7 - 10 book meme :3
7. Favorite series when you were a kid.
The “Adventure” series, by Enid Blyton. They are a series of novels about a group of four kids who get in really sticky situations and solve mysteries with more or less no adult supervision. They are joined by the parrot Kiki, which has to be one of my favourite side “characters” ever. My favourite was “Adventure in the Valley”, where they end up trapped in a deserted valley after a plane incident, and the only other people there are art traffickers.
10. Your favorite book that you read for school and ended up loving?
Hm, that is a hard question! I have loved quite a few books I had to read for school as an older teenager, when I had more of a choice (in my last year of high-school we had to read one book for each literary movement we studied, but we could choose which book). School is how I discovered Lord Byron, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Luis Cernuda (my favourite gay yearning poet!), and so many others. There was also a fair amount of crappy readings, of course, especially as a young teenager (why do teachers think young teenagers only like crap??) but I’m honestly one of those people who really enjoyed reading for school. ^^

Okay so I just beat REmake 4.
Here's a few quick thoughts
The introduction to the village is excellent and sets a perfect tone
Gameplay tweaks as well as the original's formula that is still used still work great. The REmake combat system is pretty tight, although it took me until the island to actually master the knife parrying system, mostly for the Krauser battles.
The treasure hunting is addictive, I got almost everything except some damn treasures in the village, I'm still mad! The shooting range minigame was EXCELLENT, I did not expect to be so immersed in it, I even actually sat down and got an S ranking on every single game! It actually helped me improve my aiming skills for the actual part of the game.
The graphics look amazing and the game makes great use of the PS5's DualSense controller.
I've said this before and I'll say it again; I'm glad the game is still camp as fuck. Yes, it's not as much as the original but it's also definitely not as depressing, grounded and soulless as, literally, almost every other narrative-driven modern game out there. This is so fucking refreshing to experience and I hope it starts a new trend of going back to cheesiness and camp as an alternative to all these non-entertaining but highly-applauded, for some bizarre reason, alternatives.
The Castle looks AMAZING, definitely my favourite area.
Leon, Ashley and of course The Merchant stole the show. Every scene they were in and saying their silly shit was entertaining. Leon's "swallow me whole" and the Merchant's "size matters... Or so they say, right" in particular got me so good 🤣
Krauser and Rámon were also done pretty well I think. Their actors did an amazing job. Krauser has more of a backstory this time and feels more like an actual person and not like a boss fight. Ramón himself looks more unhinged than ever, and both through documents by his caretakers as well as his quotes towards Leon during their battle we are able to see how the comments and treatment he received about his appearance actively influenced his hatred for the world and people. I think this is a very understated detail that adds a lot of depth to Ramón that I've seen no one talk about so far.
I know Luis is everyone's new bae and all, and that's great, but I honestly don't see the appeal. He's uglier than before, he's more annoying than before and he stays longer than before so nah, it's a no from me. They attempted to give him a bit of a backstory this time around but, ultimately, it's not impactful at all. He was also very unhelpful during the mine segment. I felt like he mostly just sat around and did nothing. He was pretty useful in the hut though and the el gigantes fight and he had a few good one liners, I'll give him that!
One thing that is present in the other two remakes as well but is especially annoying and noticeable in this one, is that when you move from one area to another, the lighting effects drastically change. It's like you change filters on an Instagram post or something lol
A little disappointed that Capcom is selling extra treasures and weapon upgrades as DLC again, and even more disappointed that they'll, probably, sell Ada's campaign as DLC... Hopefully that means they're gonna expand upon it though so at least we'll get more Ada. Hopefully...
Speaking of Ada, Lily Gao's performance was fine? Y'all are pathetic and miserable human beings for bullying her off the internet. Honestly. Is she my favourite Ada so far? No, I think Jolene Andersen is the definitive take on the character for me, but Lily gave a completely different approach to the character and, given how the whole concept of her dynamic with Leon is that they have both changed in certain ways after the Raccoon City Incident, it makes perfect sense? The previously innocent and inexperienced Leon is now hardened and cynical. The previously more emotional and alluring Ada is now more "matter-of-fact" and cold.
Overall I am very happy with the game and plan to instantly replay it. Nothing more that I can say.
Just buy it so Capcom can REmake more and get more of our money. I love capitalism

All the questions for the writeblr ask game, because I'm greedy and I don't trust other people to ask you anything! :p
Oh dear, thank you <3 <3 <3 <3
Writeblr Ask Game 💕
1. Which reoccuring theme is present in all of your WIPs?
Although it would be easy to say the reocurring theme present in all of my WIPs (original or fanfiction) is DEATH (and I say this rather proudly, I am death positive, I am not ashamed of exploring death with my art) I actually think that a less obvious reoccuring theme in all my WIPs is point of view. Playing with ambiguous or unreliable narrators, exploring what you can do with limited POVs especially in chorus works, or with different languages.
2. Which character flaw would you never give to any of your OCs?
I write bastards, fight me purity police. Otherwise, immortality.
3. Name 3 songs that describe your WIP or give you WIP feels
For which WIP? OK, technically we can say that DRF and Our Last Day Off are kinda part of the same WIP so...
Don’t Stop Me Now -Queen
There Must Be A Better World Somewhere - BB King
Make You Better - The Decemberists
4. Which writer do you admire the most and why?
I don’t think I can pick just one. I admire the brilliance of Karel and Josef Čapek, the satirical genius of Terry Pratchett, the magic of Mary Shelley, the emotions of Boris Vian, the raw power and feeling of Toni Morrison, the worldbuilding of JRR Tolkien, the humanity of Virginia Wood. I admire how Victor Hugo and Lluís Llach wrote about their countries and political and social struggle. I admire George Sand because of the silliest reasons, but she guided my writing. Just like Oscar Wilde. I admire James Joyce for making me love literature again, and Beckett for making me a theatre nerd. I admire Jane Austen and her characters. I admire Simone de Beauvoir for her philosphy. I admire how Christopher Isherwood writes himself, and how W.H. Auden writes love. I admire Alice Walker and Sappho because I love women. I admire Luis Sepúlveda because his words makes me dream, just like Yōko Ogawa does.
I read too much to pick one. The list is endless, and I never felt like I had to pick a favourite. Instead i pick my inspirations and lessons here and there, and fill my bookshelves.
5. How do you get over a bad writing day?
I don’t? No honestly it takes me quite a lot of time to get over a bad writing day, because I am not the healthiest person when it comes to my relationship to writing. But I found that not writing helps. I grab my paintbrushes and work on visual art, or go outside. Just trying to stop thinking about the bad writing day, even if it takes a week.
6. Do you prefer to write heroes or villains?
Neither. I don’t write settings in which heroes and villains could really work, mainly because it depends on your point of view.
7. Do you edit after the draft is done or do you edit as you go?
Tumblr media
I edit as I go, I edit in the public transportation, I edit in my bed. I edit after the draft is done and then I edit all over again. Editing is a never-ending process.
8. Which OC of yours is your favourite and why?
It’s a tie between my baby bitch with problems and pink hair (Denys) and my grown up bitch who solves problems or punches them (Sofia).
9. Tell us about your best experience in the writeblr community.
I have met some pretty cool people, and I like the burst of activity around events like NaNo.
10. How much time do you spend writing?
Too much, not enough.
11. Would you self-publish your WIP?
It would not be my first choice, no. Not that I see any harm in that, but I don’t know. I’ll self publish as last ressort.
12. What’s the longest time you have worked on a WIP?
I have been working ont Our Last Day Off for 8-ish years, and it’s not finished. (3 years thinking about it, 5 years and couting actually writing it.) Otherwise, since I am re-re-re-editing and publishing it this year, and started it in 2016, it’s been 4 years of work for Hoping Is Not An Advantage.
13. Tell us about your process. Do you set goals for yourself? If so, tell us about them.
My main goal (outside of events like NaNo) is to be satisfied with what I wrote that day, be it a draft, a sentence or 3 pages. And sometimes my goal is to finish this chapter before tonight.
14. Is there a specific moment you’re looking forward to when it comes to your WIP? Which one?
The moment when the words I wrote play out like the movie in my head.
15. What’s the best writing advice you have come across? What’s the worst?
Best: edit and proofread, even if you don’t want to, even if you have a beta.
Worst: oh boy, where do I begin?

Broke's first ep just sucked. I hope it get better. The timing for most of the jokes and laughs felt forced, it's nothing new really. Nothing really felt natural but maybe the actors need to find their grooves first since it's all new. And the sister of P's character is majorly annoying. In the previews I didn't feel like it but she's too much in one episode. What's your take on the first ep and the other characters?
Well I respect your opinion but honestly I disagree completely. I usually despise comedy, I’m not sure why, it’s just never been my thing. But so far I love Broke! I actually laughed out loud (which pretty much never happens) multiple times! Also I didn’t think it felt unnatural but I do think that kind of thing improves over time anyway.
As for my opinions on the characters, well:
Jackie - I love her! I think she’s absolutely hilarious, plus I think a lot of people will be able to relate to her.
Sammy - He’s so freaking adorable, and funny, and I really like him. Antonio does such a good job playing him.
Javier - He is the one I thought might get on my nerves but so far he hasn’t. I love how quickly he’s bonding with Sammy and it makes for some lovely scenes.
Luis - He is hilarious too, I love how blunt and straightforward he is. I also loved that we got a chance to see how he acts away from Javier in that scene with Jackie.
Elizabeth - I like her and I hope she can mend her relationship with Jackie. The bathtub scene would have to be my favourite scene of the whole episode and it seems like she has a good heart since she empathised with Jackie’s point of view so quickly.
Overall I really enjoyed the first episode. I think it’s so funny. And having comedy is all well and good (and definitely what the world needs right now) but I think it’s nothing if there’s no substance. But Broke delivers on that front too - the deeper scenes between Javier and Sammy, Jackie and Luis, and Jackie and Elizabeth, though still funny, definitely balance out the show. I’ve already watched it twice. Once on a livestream (I don’t live in the USA). And again to get clips to make GIFs (they’ll be posted over the next few days on @cbsbrokefan). And I’ll probably watch it again tomorrow with my family. Can’t wait for the next episode!
PS. Anyone else with an opinion feel free to leave it in my askbox (if ya want) and I’ll share some.

Friar Laurence and Prince Escalus for the ask meme XD
Hello and thanks, wahah, now that’s what I call a perfect ask!
Friar Laurence (or Lorenzo, as I like to call him):
favorite thing about them: his general goodness. I love that he is a benign and good-natured character, very understanding and willing to help.
least favorite thing about them: he really should have thought of telling someone ahem, the Prince, ahem about the whole “secret marriage and fake death” affair instead of just keeping it all secret like a little boy playing spy. So many problems could’ve been avoided, but no. (But I still love the man).
favorite line: all of them! And in particular, this part of “J’Sais Plus”:
La vie était facileIl suffisait d'aimerMais l'encre des EvangilesDans mon coeur a séchéOh, Dieu de tous les hommesToi qui sait tout sur toutEcoute la voix d'un hommeQui te dit à genouxQu'il devient fou
brOTP: Romeo, in a way, especially if you think of the new Italian Lorenzo. They’re such good bros there! xD
OTP: Prince Escalus (obviously).
nOTP: everyone but Escalus? xD Idk, I just don’t really ship him with anyone else…
random headcanon: 1) in a modern setting, Lorenzo is a surgeon; 2) when it comes to escalawrence, Escalus is the one to fall in love first, but it is Lorenzo who confesses first.
unpopular opinion: as opposed to the way he’s portrayed in many versions, Lorenzo is actually not that old, 40 years maximum. I’d even say 36 to 38.
song i associate with them: “Angel” by Poets of the Fall.

Prince Escalus:
favorite thing about them: I admit that these features may be more of a headcanon than not, but I love the man’s strength and determination. He’s immensely charismatic, for sure; but it’s a character whom I - first of all - respect and admire because of how strong and resilient he is. Even based on the La Vengeance scene after the duel, it’s clear to me that Escalus hides his emotions well. He seems calm on the surface, but on the inside, there is a storm that no one is meant to ever catch a glimpse of. And being calm and rational and fair, all the while hiding that storm inside you… that takes immense strength. And that aura of strength-despite-all-the-pain was what drew me to him in the first place; and it’s still my favourite aspect of this character.
least favorite thing about them: this is more about the way he’s shown in some versions, thanks to the Le Pouvoir thing (a grateful shoutout to the Austrian and the Hungarian versions for leaving it out). I don’t like this lust for power he’s shown to have, so I invented a separate explanation for this, because I love the song itself, I only don’t like what it does to the whole image of the character.
favorite line: guys, honestly, come on, it’s “favourite lineS”.
1) Austrian:
Willkommen in der Stadt!
(”Verona”. Iconic, fucking iconic, man).
Ich als Fürst hatt’ hier die Macht,Der Hass hat mich um sie gebracht.Nur der Friede war mein Ziel,Bis meine Welt zerfiel.…Viva Verona, dunkles Verona.
(”Verona II”).
2) French:
On m'envie mais de quoi?On dit lui en parlant de moiOn me craint on me croitPour qu'ils aient chaud j'ai froid…Le pouvoir ça brûle en vousLe pouvoir ça vous rend fouLe pouvoir on s'y cramponneEt quand il vous abandonneOn en meurt!
(”Le Pouvoir”)
brOTP: idk… I headcanon that he has a close relationship with his nephews (Mercutio and Valentine), but that’s not a brOTP. I also headcanon that he was best friends with his younger sister Beatrice, his nephews’ mother, in their childhood and youth and up until her demise. Guess it counts as a brOTP?
OTP: Lorenzo, Queen Mab, der Tod, Juliet (in various AUs). Benvolio, if it’s the Hungarian version where Escalus is younger than everywhere else. Mercutio, if they’re not related by blood (and only in the Italian version). Also I now have a headcanon that (in some AUs of mine, especially in the modern AU) he was married once but his wife died very tragically, together with their child (either unborn or still very young), well before his sister died and left her children in Escalus’s care… and I’ve yet to come up with his wife’s name, yeah.
nOTP: pretty much everyone else.
random headcanon: 1) Escalus sings really well and can play more than one musical instrument. 2) in the modern AU, Escalus works in the police. Bonus round, because I feel like it: Escalus and Lorenzo have matching tattoos which depict two intertwined snakes. Escalus’s is on his left bicep, covering an old scar he got on an operation. Lorenzo was the one to patch him up afterwards; and that was when Lorenzo couldn’t hide his feelings for Escalus anymore, and they’ve been a couple ever since.
unpopular opinion: more of a headcanon rather than of an unpopular opinion, but oh well, Escalus is afraid of spiders.
song i associate with them:“My Dark Disquiet” by Poets of the Fall.
youtube
favorite picture of them: can’t find my all-time favourite atm, so I’ll post a sketch I drew based on it, ok?

Whoa, that took long! Hope you enjoy this monsterpost, my lovely anon! :3

2019 Fic Round-Up
Writer buddies, let’s do this (as in, if you haven’t yet, do yours too!)
Stats:
(I’m going with a random quote from each one because I’m a fan of long summaries.)
Fics Posted (Gen): 3
A Little Taste of What Should Have Been
And that was how Pidge found herself kneeling sideways on the couch, face inches away from Lance’s shoulder as he disinfected first two sewing needles and then the earrings with a professional air.
Wriggle, Jiggle, Bake!
“Okay, so you’ve been magically de-aged — because apparently that’s a thing. Why is that a thing? Whatever. Of course it’s a thing out here."
Here
“Don’t make it weird, Lance,” she huffed, already tugging him into the room and closing the door behind them. “C’mon. I’ll help you wash all that off.”
Fics Posted (Plance Oneshots): 7
2 x 100 word drabbles
(Domestic Fantasy & Kabedon)
The Advantages of Being Small
“I couldn’t help it! It was just too tempting!”
Untangle to Wait, Unravel to See
Of course a fortune teller would appear as soon as he started talking about one. They were on a magical world with magical aliens and Lance was like, the hero of the story, so it made sense that events would be tied to his dialogue. Most importantly, it was not creepy at all, and anyone who said Lance was creeped out could go suck it.
the world is out there, my dear, but we're in here
Pidge froze. The reaction was so subtle that Lance would have missed it if he hadn't been watching for it -- she relaxed herself almost immediately, eyebrows raised in casual challenge -- but she'd reacted, all the same.
so it turns out I kinda missed you
Grumbling, Lance crossed his arms and sunk back into his seat. “I could’ve come to get her on my own, you know.” “Yeah, but then you wouldn’t be able to make out in the back seat on the way home.”
The Stars Aren't the Same for You and I
Dancing with Pidge was fun.
Fics Posted (Plance Chaptered): 2 (1.5?)
Skirting Katabasis
"So... Do you think you could put it back together?" Pidge tilted the tablet towards her and looked at him hard. His expression was hesitant, but his eyes were soft...almost pleading. She smirked. "Who do you think I am, Keith?”
The Future in Snippets (Chapters 3-5)
In truth, she had no idea what was fine. Her brain had switched off several heartbeats ago, but she couldn’t really find it in herself to care.
Fics Posted (Plance Collabs): 2
Smack, Kiss, Fall in Love (even chapters)
The prince doesn’t ignore the princess for the nerdy sidekick. Even if that sidekick was a badass fighter who’d saved his life countless times. Or a genius who constantly left his head spinning. Or totally into the same video games that defined Lance’s childhood, and the owner of a smile so blinding it made the stars look dim.
(shoutout to @sp4c3-0ddity, my co-conspirator who made Pidge’s star so bright!)
It's Beginning to Look a Lot like A Christmas Carol  (Prologue & Chap 1)
“An intervention?” “Sure. Have you ever seen A Christmas Carol?” His mind freezes. “You mean the Dickens book?” “Uh…” Keith’s dad trails off, blinking. “No, the movie. With the little green man? I think they made a version with the grouchy duck, too.”
(shoutout to the awesome @rueitae and @sp4c3-0ddity who brought both the crack and the tears essential items for any Christmas party all we’re missing is the food fight and divorce)
Total Fics Posted: 14
Oooh wow. That’s more than one a month!
 Ship/Character Breakdown:
Ship Breakdown: Plance, with over 75%
[colleen image]
Character Breakdown: Pidge and Lance are in 100% of my fics. Hunk is next in 5 (with 1 POV!), then Keith and Allura both get 3 (both even get POV parts and Keith’s a major focus in Skirting Katabasis), then Shiro, Coran and Lance/Pidge’s families are more bit players.
I only just realized that the chapter in Smack, Kiss, Fall in Love is the only time I’ve really written Shiro. And now I’m horrified because Shiro was my first love.
Characters that had the Main Focus: 6 +1 Lance POV, 4+2 Pidge POV, 2 Switching POV fics and then the drabbles don’t count.  I actually started out the year tearing my hair out because I related to Pidge so much more, but now I really enjoy writing Lance. It’s actually a little tricky to get into Pidge’s headspace to work on my chaptereds sometimes.
Specifics
 Best/Worst Title?
Best Skirting Katabasis. C’mon. That’s like, literary (Katabasis being hell or destruction in Greek mythos). Worst Untangle to Wait, Unravel to See. I had help with it but this fic was just so hard to name.
Best/worst last line?
Best I tend to structure my chapters/one-shots around the last line so…this is hard.
"What took you so long? I've been waiting for you."
(Untangle to Wait, Unravel to See)
My personal favourite, though, is from so it turns out I kinda missed you:
Luis laughed. “Hi, Not-My-Girlfriend. I’m Not-His-Brother, Luis.”
Worst
Hunk just laughed. “You can’t fix that right now, so you might as well have some fun!”
(Wriggle, Jiggle, Bake!) So cheesey.
The last line that gives me personal arghs is from Here:
He buried his face in her sodden hair and cried.
...because a day after posting I realised that I should’ve written wept, dammit, and now it annoys me every time I see it.
Honourable mention to The Advantages of Being Small for winning the no-context award:
“Reckon I could fit three fingers up there?”
 General Questions
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
Way more than I thought!  I think I had planned out about 8? Of those I wrote two (zine fics), started but haven’t finished 2, and the other 4 are still pending.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?
None, my obsessions are long-lasting and constant.
What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
Skirting Katabasis or It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like A Christmas Carol. Though TBH I enjoy re-reading most of the stuff I posted in the last 6 months.
Okay, NOW your most popular story.
In every single metric on AO3 it’s The Future in Snippets. Y’all like your porn (even if there’s not much of it).
On tumblr it’s Wriggle, Jiggle, Bake! by like 100 notes.
Story most underappreciated by the universe?
If this is a roundabout way of saying ‘What’s your LEAST popular story?’ it’s The Advantages of Being Small, but TBH that’s a very short crack-ficlet so it doesn’t bother me (same with the drabbles).
If the question is “What fic do you think people should like MORE?” the answer is Skirting Katabasis. It’s fifth on the list for bookmarks and 9th for Kudos, and I’m not sure why?? Does it sound too gen? Do you not like Platonic Adventure Kidge? Honestly y’all are missing out it’s like the best thing I’ve ever written. Hands down.
Story that could have been better?
The Future in Snippets. Hands down. It was started on a whim, as a practice fic for another idea I’ve been nurturing for even longer, and back when I was newer at this writing thing. It wasn’t very tightly plotted – in fact the plot was expanded upon and changed multiple times before I settled on what I have now, several chapters in – and certain things that should have been seeded were left out of earlier chapters because I wasn’t experienced enough to figure out how to work them in and foolishly thought ‘oh, it won’t matter! Such a small detail!’, so now I’m scratching my head trying to figure out how to compensate.
I tend to work off very tight outlines, but Snippets was missing that for a large part of the process and I think it shows. I do think I’ve done a good job nailing the emotion in it, though, and that’s like 95% of the fic so as long as I keep that up it’ll all be fine.
Sexiest story?
The Future in Snippets is smut so… First place for SFW sexy goes to the world is out there, my dear, but we’re in here.
Saddest story?
I think The Stars Aren’t the Same for You and I wins because it’s a heartbreaking situation with no good resolution. There’s no comfort to be found there.
Most fun?
A Little Taste of What Should Have Been. It’s just…fun!
The most fun I had writing was Smack, Kiss, Fall in Love, because it was challenging, and I’d wake up every day excited to find out what had happened in the last chapter overnight.
Story with single sweetest moment?
The Future in Snippets (Chapter 4)
“Um…” She turned the brush in her hands over again before holding it up sheepishly. “Do you remember how you said you’d braid my hair?”
Lance’s whole face lit up like a Christmas tree. “Really?!”
A giggle escaped her lips and she smiled, nodding. “Really.”
Hardest story to write?
The Future in Snippets. The emotions in this fic have become a convoluted mess and it is growing exponentially harder to write as I continue. I simply don’t have the level of skill required, but by God I will find it so that I can finish it properly.
Easiest/most fun story to write?
Skirting Katabasis!  The outline for this fic is tight, and I freaking love writing this fic. Like I just feel like smiling the whole process. I don’t know why. It feels like the wrong answer because it’s a fairly involved fic, but I just enjoy everything about it.
Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?
Smack, Kiss, Fall in Love actually gave me a much better understanding of Lance. Skirting Katabasis made me really look at Keith and realise that hey – the dude is actually very emotional, very chatty, and very soft (he’s so often typecast as the ‘moody loner’ because that’s what they call him in the show but he really doesn’t act like that).
Most overdue story?
Uh. The Future in Snippets was originally scheduled to be finished in January 2018, so… I also have a soulmate WIP which was meant to be for V-Day 2018.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I started to play about with other POVs, and discovered that I can write other POVs? I also did two collabs!  The first one I discovered that Reem really is a sweetheart, and with the second I discovered that either I’m really bossy or really persuasive or both maybe I should go into politics.
I also did a couple of events and zines and exchanges. I discovered that piece-writing – like writing with a target/deadline/outside expectation – does not agree with me, and I will no longer sign up for events/zines/exchanges.
What are your fic writing goals for next year?
1.     Finish my WIPs.
2.     Write my Pidge Makes Bad Decisions fic!
3.     That’s about it really. Can you take over the world by writing fic? If so, that’s going on the list.

Time to rank every MCU film
Yes I am doing that oh so original thing of ranking every marvel film from worst to best. Criticisms and debates are welcome. (Disclaimer: I like all these films unless stated otherwise)
X. Incredible Hulk - I haven’t seen it. Sorry.
21. Guardians Of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - I can honestly say I hated this film. The only likeable part of the whole film was the soundtrack and the first few minutes with Groot dancing. Beyond that it was dull, cringy and oh so predictable. The second that Ego (???) appeared and said he was Quill’s dad I was just like “Oh so this guy’s the villain then” and noped out of there. I never saw past that point and don’t intend to.
20. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - People praise this film till kingdom come and I for one do not get it at all. Many say that it is unique in moving away from the typical superhero film and towards the spy genre. Maybe I just don’t like spy films but it is in no means a great Marvel film. I liked it enough but it’s so forgettable I had to google the plot for this review. I liked the characters and all but it just never stuck with me as anything special.
19. Guardians Of the Galaxy -  Maybe I just don’t like the guardians??? I don’t know but this was another film that just didn’t stick with me. I like Rocket and Groot but beyond that the Guardians themselves hold no interest with me. I don’t care for the humor particularly and whilst the music is great that really shouldn’t be the best part of a film unless it’s a musical.
18. Avengers: Age of Ultron - People hate this film, I however do not. It’s an okay Marvel film, I don’t care for it enough to hate it. I like that scene where they’re all trying to lift mjolnir and I think I liked the ending (I watched it like two years ago so I don’t remember that well) but I have to agree with a lot of the criticism of white washing the Maximoffs (despite how much I love Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor Johnson, it was still shady). I didn’t hate the ‘giving Hawkeye a family’ like a lot of people did because the already made it clear he wasn’t like comic Clint.
17. Thor: The Dark World - Now we’re moving into films I do like (I love Marvel films more than I dislike them, it's literally just GOTG2 that I don’t like). This was a good film from what I can remember (as I said it's been a while since I’ve seen a lot of these films). I liked the story arcs, I liked that it was set in places other than America and space (ok, so I’m from England, sue me), I loved Tom Hiddleston in this film and I like Darcy. All in all it was an enjoyable viewing, a little dull at times but generally harmless.
16. Doctor Strange - This would be further up if it wasn’t for how dull the first half hour or so is. I had to go back and watch this months after I had first tried just because the start was so boring. Once I moved past it however it was a great origin film. I liked the humour in it and I have always had a soft spot for magic so it was a brilliant film. The effects were absolutely stunning and on aesthetics alone it would place as the second or third best marvel film. I loved the good guys and was genuinely rooting for them despite Strange being a bit of a snarky arsehole.
15. Iron Man - Is this a very important film? Yes. Is it a great film? Also yes. Do I remember it? Not at all. Okay, so I remember some stuff and what I do remember was great but to say its a film that sticks out would be a lie. It’s THE origin story in as much as it’s a formulaic one: flawed character is traumatised and realises their flaws in the process, is influenced by important person, becomes a hero and is betrayed. It works though. That’s the thing, it works so damn well that its almost not in the formula. It's a great watch and honestly RDJ looks great in it (so not the point but I digress). That bit with Stane ripping out the arc reactor made me feel betrayed and I kinda knew it was coming. ( https://tonynatashas.tumblr.com/post/184375713429/that-scene-in-iron-man-where-obadiah-stane-is this post explains why this scene is so great important)
14. Captain America: The First Avenger - Another (enjoyable) origin story. If Sebastian Stan wasn’t in it it would probably be three places down but hey I have a type. No but seriously this was a great film because not only did it show off the brilliance of Roger’s transformation and gave us an idea of who he was and what motivates him but it also then gives us details of his waking in the 21st century and begins to expose his issues with this time travel (for want of a better phrase). This film shows you what you’re gonna get whilst still having pretty good effects, a good, solid storyline and a pretty badass comic book villain. The serum guy creeps me out though and there are so many ethical issues of that level of human experimentation on a person whose only friend went off to war, had Steve died they chose someone no one would really miss which is so concerning.
13. Captain Marvel - A lot of people may have a criticism of this film being so far down but for me it needs to be. I like superhero films where the main character overcomes a flaw and amnesia is not a character flaw. This is a good origin story but it is not a great marvel film. I like Carol but I don’t love her. I love the fact that we have a superhero film with a female main character and i liked that scene where she talks with biker guy but it felt like Samuel L Jackson was a more interesting character at times. I often rate characters on humor so there’s that. It was a good film but I’m mostly looking forward to what will be done with the character as she has so much potential.
12. Spiderman: Homecoming - This is a weird one for me. It’s the only marvel film I own on DVD and it’s the only one I like where I skip scenes. I can not deal with cringy humour so I skip 80% of the jokes and awkward moments in this film however it’s a really good film. It’s funny and the music is great, I love Zendaya and Jacob Batalon probably more than Tom Holland, their roles are great and the film’s emphasis on friendship is one of the elements from the Iron Man and Captain America films that I love just further amplified. The references to Ferris Bueller and the fact that it is, at its core, a teen flick makes it a brilliant film. The vulture twist was also amazing.
11. Ant-man and the Wasp - I feel like it isn’t talked about enough but I really bloody love Scott Lang. He is one superhero that I can really get behind because above all else he is just the nicest guy. He is probably one of the most human seeming characters in the MCU and it always makes for such an enjoyable viewing. This could probably draw with ant-man in terms of great films. I loved Ava Starr so much and my heart really went out to her and that FBI guy was a total joy to watch. The Ant man films are so funny and light hearted that they don’t have that sort of weariness that other MCU films have. If only Luis told more stories in the MCU.
10. Ant-man - Honestly just look above. Also I love Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne so much. The villain was kind of eh but I loved the heist aspect.
9. Black Panther - I watched this film for Shuri and to an extent because I felt obligated to so I had low expectations. People were talking about it for the significance of fighting for equality (which I am all for, don’t worry) so I was expecting it to not live up to the hype and it didn’t. That being said it was a bloody great movie. The movie was beautiful, the use of colour and the CGI tech was so damn pretty. The plot was brilliant and for a while I wanted Erik Killmonger to win, he put forward a good argument and I like a ‘baddy’ so to speak. The fights were great and I was so here for their version of going under cover finally not being a hoodie and cap. Was it over hyped? Hell yeah. Was it still a great film? 100%
8. Iron Man 3 - This gets a hell of a load more crap than it deserves, mostly from comic book fans who can’t stand that their precious mandarin was a hoax but honestly I respect the fuck out of marvel for that. Rather than having a stereotypically asian terrorist they turned that stereotype on its head and made the white guy the actual terrorist. Ben Kingsley is one of my favourite actors and he was amazing. I, obviously, also loved the representation of PTSD as a serious issue and how it was displayed in all of its real ugliness. For once it didn’t just show a damaged person who was fixed with romance. So yeah, this film was a masterpiece.
7. Captain America: Civil War - Zemo may just be my favourite MCU villain to date, why? Because he fucking won. This was a film about a man who knew his victims and rather than stupidly trying to attack the big scary strong guys he exposed them and made the best of circumstance. He got under Captain America’s skin and played him like a puppet. This was more than just a villain, this was finally a smart villain. Not to mention that this film had some of the best action sequences and heart breaking moments whilst still having time for a laugh. It’s also the first film (in my opinion) that called out Steve’s morals and his obsession with the past. Bucky was hot used against him and it showed that above all else, even the little people, Steve’s loyalties are with his past.
6. Thor - Most people would disagree and rate this film far lower however for me this was the start. I didn’t grow up watching superhero films because I didn’t like watching TV as a kid so it wasn’t till I was 13 that I saw a superhero film and this was it. I honestly watched it because my friend had it on DVD and I thought Tom Hiddleston looked hot but from what I can remember this was one of the best films I ever saw. I wasn’t too bothered by Jane Foster but I absolutely loved Darcy, Loki and Thor. Whilst I’m not adopted I do know what it is like to be the younger and smarter sibling with an older thuggish brother who is still the favourite so I loved Loki with a passion and was so upset when he fell.
5. Iron Man 2 - This was the film that made me realise that I liked girls, Scarlet Johansson in a black cat suit and red ringlets was an amazing thing to little 13 year old me. Beyond that it was just a solid film, it had spies and daddy issues and sass and Samuel L Jackson. What more can you want?
4. Thor: Ragnarok - This is the peak of Thor, I’m calling it now. Never had a director before been able to capture the absolute chaos of Loki and the sweetheart-ness of Thor so brilliantly. As far as representations of characters this, Captain Marvel and Iron Man 3 may just be the best of all the MCU. This is the full completion of Thor’s arc, this is the film that the first Thor set up. Finally Thor is ready to be King. This film had so much humour but still set it all up so perfectly that it was more than just a comedy. Jeff Goldblum was amazing and honestly Taika Waititi should direct the whole of the MCU. He knows the characters better than anybody.
3. Avengers: Endgame - I cried three times. That scene with the portals was the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed and whilst many criticize much of the plot I don’t have too much I’d change, though in fairness I did like the cursed child so maybe I just have a soft spot for all things time travel. Dynamic timelines are not used in cinema enough and the three alternate timelines create have all sorts of implications for future films in the MCU. If Thor is not fat in the next film this may go down to 20th though.
2. Avengers Assemble - This is the film that I believe best represents what the MCU has to offer. It’s a light hearted superhero film with all the characters that were needed at this point in time. For its time it was ambitious and honestly it shows. I loved the dynamics between the characters, the plot was engaging and not overly complex and even if you haven’t seen any other MCU films it makes perfect sense. In some respects it probably is the best the MCU has to offer.
1. Avengers: Infinity War - Oh boy do I love this film. This isn’t just a film, this is the film. Did it have the same emotional impact as Endgame? Fuck no but it didn’t need to. It was serious. It was funny. It had just the right amount of just the right characters and may I just say that is the best that Captain America has ever looked in the MCU. I (controversially) really loved Gamora dying and most of the Guardians being dusted. The memes were great. This was the most ambitious cross over event since Wizards of deck with Hannah Montana. One thing that I can’t get out of my head though is Bruce’s comment of “broke up like the beatles?”. Does that make Bucky Yoko Ono?
