WONDERLAND KING!JEKYLL AU IDEA
IM PROBABILY BEING DELUSIONAL BUT HEAR ME OUT
So, we know that Alice exist in tgs universe, she is a ringmaster of a circus with the wonderland fellas as her sidekicks, she appears in chapter 9 and 15
So, WONDERLAND EXISTS in tgs
And also, with this fact, i was listening to this song that is a fan-made song made by Lydia The Bard;
youtube
She has a whole series of videos where she sings and compuse villain songs of alternative evil version of the princess (Female main characters) of Disney. Every songs has their own animatic to ilustrate the idea of this particular escenario where for what reason or another the princess became evil, villains This animatic was made by @lazyeule
(If you dont want to see the video); In this alternative story, Alice is being taking over by the mad forces of Wonderland, she loses her own mind and the senses of self until the point she transforms into the personification of wonderland itself (The real queen of wonderland) and goes to attack the normal world, her once called ¨home¨
So the idea its that this happens to Jekyll
No Hyde, but Jekyll
Imagine this; For some reason, Jekyll and Hyde end up getting lose in wonderland, and so they spend the whole day trying to find a way to return back London. In the way, Jekyll and Hyde can completely seperate from each other (Wonderland its capable to make Hyde have his own body) and so they both decide to go by seperate ways (THEY ARE FREE FROM THE OTHER, YEI!!!). While Edward starts to have a hard time in Wonderland, it seems like Henry its getting to much comfortable in this place... a little bit to much. He starts to change and he is noticing this, sometimes he finds him feeling to joyful or delusional and acting wild and cruel with others! it feels similar like when he used to be Hyde, but thats impossible because he is no longer inside him anymore! unless... something else took his place
But its not like another identity like Hyde was, but these urges and desires, he hears voices everywhere who tells him things and for some reason he often can´t resist them at all, not matter how much he tries to fight them, in the end he is convince to do so and actually find enjoyment in that, a thing that in the moments when he goes back to sanity he finds scary and regretful. And worse, its like the place itself leads him into that way, giving the perfect chances for him to lose control over himself and let it be with no consequences, and full control over others
It seems like Wonderland has chosen Henry
There is a point where Henry gets finally consumed by Wonderland, his view of the world has change and now has the ability to change others at his will, so Henry goes back home and invades all London, why? to change the world as the one he desires, a world where mad science its accepted completely as it its, where Hyde its no longer a part of him, where he dosent have to worry of being evil, and no one cant say anything about him and Robert
Or couse, Alice would help to get Henry back to normal, apperently Wonderland need a host that could take over so its madness would finally expand to other realms, it tried to do it with Alice and failed... it tried with Jekyll and succeded

Very personal problem: increasingly out of patience with the audience being always so desperate to laugh! Laugh! Laugh!
#always but this year had two particularly bad stances#one when we were watching king lear and lear had gone mad and the actor did a brilliant job but the audience laaaaughed#as if it wasn't the most heartbreaking thing we were watching! felt bad for the actir my god. he was great. not his fault#second was today i was watching a screening of jekyll and hyde 1931 and the audience managed to find something hilarious in the moments#right before and right after hyde murdered the girl he had been raping and terrorizing for a month.#i get that some people don't like feeling discomfort or horror or disgust or heartbreak but when why go watch a tragedy or a horror movie???#it's borderline grotesque#like th refusal to engage emotionally with something disturbing...once again i ask why watch tragedy or horror then#inane post

JASPER MY KING 🙏🙏🙏
Spilers under cut
There was none last week because it’s been really busy last week and this week, but I just felt like I had to
Lyn brought up that Jaspers inspirational speech is happening at the same time as Hyde’s breakdown and now it’s all I can think about.
“Guys we must face this hard ship” vs “HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT” is just a really fun image in my head

“YOU should be upset” instead of WE, this mean that Jasper actually isn’t mad at Jekyll because he does Understand.
I wont go into to much detail because I already did in a different ramble

I love the lodgers expressions, they don’t show up often but when they do the absolute most characterization is shoved into them
The last page too, they get no time but when they do they leave an impression
At first I was expecting Jasper to say what we all already know, but adding some new information lets us know both how chaotic the society is and how much Jasper has gotten to know about everyone and how he has come to really be apart of the society
The lodgers also seem to respect him, he was able to get their attention despite their frantic nature and they actually seem to be listening to him
He is a voice of Reason in this confusing time, reason that most of the lodgers seem to be lacking at the moment
Jasper has grown from the shy, quiet new guy to a more respected and valued member because of the one on one work he did with Jekyll that helped him learn more
Jasper has been more open to speaking his mind, first with Jekyll, then Racheal, and now all of the lodgers, He has the qualities of a leader, even if he may not personally think so
I hope I am not saying all of this just for the lodgers to not listen in the end 🙏🙏🙏

I dont really have much to say about this Panel, It just made me chuckle and I felt wrong not including it.
As more updates are made the more I like Victoria, she’s just so interesting with everything and I love seeing her in different situations with how she acts to them

Anyway Back to Jaspers speech
I feel like this was really the best way Jasper could’ve ended it, bringing back the whole reason why Jekyll had made the society; a safe community where Scientists could go and be protected
A place where they could help each other on their research, find lab partners and eventually find patrons
Also the thing about Risks and experimentation, Jasper has a point, you wont always get your experiment right, just like Jekyll; he wanted Hyde to be seperated from him, and it didn’t work out 100% correctly.
And people DO get hurt, both emotionally and physically, while the lodgers are all betrayed about what Jekyll has done it is very likely they would’ve done the same
No one wants to admit when there wrong and no one wants to admit defeat, it’s something we see with both Jekyll and Frankenstine many times, hell, it’s something we have all experienced in our own lifes.
While many people would probably understand what Jekyll had done and was going through if he told them sooner, he was scared. He’s the leader, he cant just admit that he made a mistake, he feels like he needs his perfect reputation.
That is why Jasper is trying to get the lodgers to understand, he is making them realize why Jekyll had done it, and while it might’ve not been right, they all know they would do the same
Jaspers words are powerful enough to hopefully convince the lodgers and redirect their anger for now and have things simmer down for a bit

I was about to wonder why you'd like him and saw that the unburnt/skinless side looks like Miguel o'hera and was like "yeah that's fair"
...can you tell I miss him
i... imma be so honest with you rn.

anon these men dont look alike to me.
but also dude i like him as a character and also his looks, in a totally seperate way to miguel.
it's like saying i like wren because he looks like whitney or somethin'
i miss miguel too but idk, im not currently writing a fic for miguel where he's switching rapidly from being a sadistic fuck to be so sweet and caring because it doesn't fit with his character.
fits with our king harvey's character tho
anyway, that's just one iteration of this king. and ive needed him gutteraly for a long as time with many different loooks to this king.
so of course, the comic book Harleen (2019) version:

king. angry king.
then there's the batman animated version:

i was recently getting back into batman and when regular harvey showed up? tossing his coin? instant squirt. ask any person i was chatting with regularly during that time. for the love of god i made horny compilation videos of JUST HIS VOICE.
... anyway.
from the long halloween

to robin: year 1

to batman: jekyll and hyde

to the detective comics with him and his ass in the air

this man has had a strong hold on him. now, real quick, the worst iteration of him, of course made by joel schumacher, collosal hack who ruined every IP he's ever touched from phantom of the opera to batman.
jumpscare warning?

sorry tommy lee jones, heard you hated working with jim carrey on this movie.
and lastly, the movie version that i'll be putting under the cut because yowza. oh and the cgi for his face burn is excellent so.
scroll to see if but ALL IN ALL.
Harvey Dent is my favourite tragic character of all time, and Im way more emotionally invested in his story than Miguel's ngl. Both amazing charactesr, but my guy, all of his iterations look different except for the obvious half of his face.
idk if im coming off mean, but idk, im thoroughly side eyeing you.
anyway, harvey dent from the dark knight under the cut because my god, he's hot and mad.

i need him viscerally ever since the dark knight game out in 200 and wot wot.
#squinting at u#i dunno in general i hate it when im talking about a character and someone piques up like “just like this character!”#like dude#cmon#its just vaguely annoying to me#two men with nothing in common but share brown hair in SOME VERSIONS#harvey dent#two face#ask#idk if i came off mean but i am autistic so i will make u sit there and regret your actions#batman#gotham

WONDERLAND KING!JEKYLL DRAWINGS!!!!

HE LOOKS SO FRUTY
For his outfit I wanted to him to have actual king's cloths so I used a reference and also kinda fuse the clothing with Jekyll's, so he looks WONDERFUL
Henry didn't came to Wonderland with that outfit, of course he came with his usual one. His king outfit was a gift from Wonderland, he just behaves so well in here! He is TRULY not only one of them! BUT THE ONE! why wouldn't be the man that in sanity splited his soul in two be NOT worth it for the title of KING OF MADNESS!?
He was a leader before, but now he will finally be the GREATEST OF ALL! Now in his new castle at London, once known as "The Society for Arcane Sciencies", the fun will never end!

"Where... where did he get that outfit?" Even Hyde has his opinions about it.
He mostly wears blue with some yellow, however the red hints are meant to represent that this is still Henry, SO maybe.... And just maybe... It's not too late for him...

Even under Wonderland's influcence, Henry dosen't see the need to change Laynon at all, for him, Robert it's just perfect as he is and wants to keep him like that, Laynon on the other hand... He loves Henry but he has his limits
I can imagine their dynamic would be like Henry keeping Robert inside the castle and oftenly comes to him, acting very flirtous towards Laynon. He treats Robert more like his favorite pet/toy who carries wherever he goes through the castle, a something to adore rather than a someone
While for Laynon everything it's... terrifying. He tries his best to follow this madness without 'losing his head' [In the two meanings...] In hopes he finds a way to snap Jekyll out of it. The world he once knew it's nothing but a memory buried deep down under this big childsh-madhouse, nothing makes sense to him anymore! He is always getting lost in the palace for how often the rooms and physics seems to change whatever they want, and is always guessing which answer the king and the other citizens would like to hear so he won't DIE, or whatever your majesty decide to do with him. The citizens dont see him as their other ruler, not even a equal, so they constanly play pranks and bad jokes on him, and if Robert gets upset then they will always tell to him that they would stop only but if only he truly joins with his king in 'holy madness'
He is an outcast in this 'new society'. For them, everything he does is wrong and inappropriate, and he absolutely hates that. The most normal conversations he ever has are with Henry but Laynon can't not longer let his guard down anymore, especially if Henry is not in the room, because when he is not around everything gets... unsettling. Robert feels watched by the surroundings, the sky, the floor, the walls, the lights, even by the air itself, and have hear voices every time he could swear that he was alone
It's like the whole world it's mocking him...
(So yeah, he is constantly dealing with bullshit, it hasn't been easy for him)

And Hyde didn't have it easier neither

At first, Hyde was EXCITED to have his own body, and Wonderland seems like a great place with plenty of opportunities! But Hyde being Hyde mess up his own way and started to have bad luck around the place, always getting in trouble and gaining enemies where he went through. Hyde need to pay for his crimes against Wonderland's citenzs!
And yes, he got capture by the Queen of Hearts for messing her garden of roses, however she is not the punishment. Hyde showed himself unworthy, so instead the role will be lead by his better and more manipulable side
Hyde wanted to be part of Wonderland but he realized that it's not that fun as he thought, but when he found the way out and left, he accidentally brought the madness with him. He doesn't feel guilty about it (or at least won't admit it) despite everyone who blames him, even Rachel. But now he is a proud member of some revolutionary team to stop this madness, that it's being led by Alice herself, the only one known who survived Wonderland, and it seems that he has an important part to play on this so Hyde is pretty happy about it, ESPECIALLY knowing that he is not the only one plotting angaist Jekyll anymore and now for actual value reasons, it's funnier than being a wonder
Jekyll, does not want Hyde at all
Hyde is a burden for him and Wonderland itself, Edward himself is one of them, he is already mad and his body does belong to Wonderland, but for some reason he is also immune to its power. Not matter what, Jekyll and Hyde are still connected, it was thanks to Hyde that they managed to escape the land, and also without knowing, leading the madness with him. Jekyll always knows where Hyde is, even if they are miles away from each other. However he doesn't see him as a threat, he just enjoys how Hyde is struggling without nothing but himself, and how his team is plotting against him in vain... If he desired he could just snap his fingers and all of them would be turned into wonders without a second thought, but he just kept them around because of Hyde

But the king enjoys the suffering of others, because he has the memories of suffering too
He does remember who he used to be, right before he even gave a step into Wonderland, his perspective has changed completely now.
What once he thought it was terrifying, it turned out to be the easiest thing in the world, and now he sees it now...
But, even as the king the voices are still annoying.

Richard Armitage's Recommended Reading List from the official Geneva paperback release promotional material sent to book retailers/libraries in 2024
Robert Louis Stevenson: The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
I narrated this for Audible, and I love the fact that the format feels like a case study of a psychologically compromised patient, rather than a traditional novel. It made me question whether it was a true story or fiction. I also love Stevenson's obsession - one shared by many authors and psychologists - with the alter ego. It's been suggested that Stevenson was subversively writing about suppressed sexuality (which was at the time considered unacceptable in social circles). His Mr Hyde was perhaps something that was literally 'in hiding' and forcing its way out.
C.J. Tudor: The Drift
A departure for Tudor into Zombie territory, i suspect conceived during the pandemic, and set across three different time zones. This is a chilling, thrilling genre puzzle about a group of survivors, a bus crash buried in the snow, a stranded cable car and a group of misfits walled up in a dystopian hellish retreat that feels like the end of the world. Lurking in the shadows is something so deadly it feels like an impending apocalypse.
Robert Harris: Act of Oblivion
Harris is one of my favourite authors. He's so immersed in historical detail his stories always feel like documents from an archive rather than invention. Act of Oblivion is the ultimate destination thriller. Set in 1660, during the Interregnum, the novel reminds me of a relentless road movie. Richard Nayler, head of the regicide committee of the Privy Council, is consumed by a quest to find the last remaining fugitives who signed the death warrant of Charles I. It becomes a lifelong, all-consuming obsession that takes the form of an epic journey from London to the New World and the developing colonies.
Susanna Clarke: Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
It's the 20th anniversary of this seminal novel, and it's been very much on my mind as I have narrated a new audiobook edition for Bloomsbury. A spectacular Dickensian destination thriller set in London and the European continent during the Napoleonic wars, I love the array of extraordinary characters (some factual, some fictional) and the weaving of magic into the politics of the time. Dr Strange and Mr. Norrell attempt to restore practical magic to England by convincing the government and the military of its usefulness in war. The rivalry between the two men in exacerbated by the emergence of an older, darker force which, along with Clarke's historical tapestry drawn from factual events and folklore, gives the story a bedrock that is convincing and compelling.
Stephen King: The Shining
Chiller, thriller a s destination; I can't get through the winter without a Stephen King novel. I've read The Shining a few times and as frightening as it is, there is something about the remote isolated setting of the Overlook Hotel in the midst of this brutal winter that intrigues me. The descent of Jack Torrance into madness, and the terrifying consequences of this for his wife and young son, makes for a trembling page-turner. One thing the book does better than the film is balance the fear with the spiritual: the 'shining'. In the novel, Jack's son Danny has a special psychic glow and in a child it feels like an impenetrable power for good in the facenof evil. You've probably seen the film, but the book is well worth a read too.
#don't ask me how i managed to get a hold of a promo pack 🤫#it's my little secret#it also came with about 100 Geneva bookmarks which is cute#richard armitage#geneva#RA
