Have you seen the new trailer for the Indigo Disk yet?
What do you think Kieran's champion design?
i have seen the new indigo disk trailer, it's gotten me super excited for it to come out ( so i can lose it over whatever is gonna happen to my boy. )
i will say, i am a little let down by kieran's champion design. it feels weaker compared to his first design, they definitely could've pushed it more. still, i don't think it's a terrible design either. i'll probably play around with it when i draw them in the future.
actually, i ended up drawing kieran's champ design in my sketchbook so i might as well share it here!

( i don't have my scanner rn so this isn't the best picture, sorry! 😭 )
#i'm gonna have to fiddle with his design anyways since there's a 1 year timeskip between teal mask & indigo disk in mjverse#i messed with it a little bit here but i feel like i could do more 🤔#i need a full version of his new design STAT#also kieran doesn't have actual piercings they just wear clip-ons / magnetic earrings#btw i don't know any of the actual spoilers for the dlc so please avoid mentioning them in the tags#pokemon#pkmn scarvio#pokemon scarlet and violet#pokemon kieran#rival kieran#hc : (pkmn) mjverse#chara : kieran hinoki#🎨 : mj draws#asks#mj.txt

Gumball Watterson strikes me as the type to have his school Chromebook taken away because he tried to do the “F Students are the Inventors” trend where you set your computer on fire with pencil lead.
Darwin Watterson also strikes me as the type to have his school Chromebook taken away, but he is viamently opposed to destroying school property. Instead, he got his privileges taken away because he gave his to Gumball, who immediately put a strong magnet behind the screen and ruined that one too.
They both use those big Kindergarten iPads with games on them now.
#tawog#the amazing world of gumball#darwin watterson#gumball watterson#my headcanons#not really#this is canon to me#idk if the magnet thing ruins them#but my sister is in middle school and she says her classmates keep using AirPods to turn ppls chomebooks off#okay I googled it#apparently if your computer has a hard disk drive a magnent messes with it#if it’s a strong magnet#that’s close enough#the f students are inventors#and Gumball and Darwin are both definitely inventors

Since chicken has wings... can he fly??? And if he can is it only for a bit since the wings are so small?
His wings are big enough to assist in catching some air during large jumps, to which he already achieves impressive heights due to his size and springy leg power, but like all real chickens he cannot fly.
He can glide and ease his way down from higher ground, but spanning long distances with his wings just isn't possible, he's just too big and heavy.
#most puppets that have functional wings tend to be on the smaller side to achieve flight#like ching. technically his wings are on one disk on his back#and all other disks and free floating body parts stay generally magnetized towards each other#so he is very light weight#brambleramble

5 Unpredictable Things Swift Has Studied (and 1 It’s Still Looking For)
Our Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory — Swift for short — is celebrating its 20th anniversary! The satellite studies cosmic objects and events using visible, ultraviolet, X-ray, and gamma-ray light. Swift plays a key role in our efforts to observe our ever-changing universe. Here are a few cosmic surprises Swift has caught over the years — plus one scientists hope to see.
#BOAT
Swift was designed to detect and study gamma-ray bursts, the most powerful explosions in the universe. These bursts occur all over the sky without warning, with about one a day detected on average. They also usually last less than a minute – sometimes less than a few seconds – so you need a telescope like Swift that can quickly spot and precisely locate these new events.
In the fall of 2022, for example, Swift helped study a gamma-ray burst nicknamed the BOAT, or brightest of all time. The image above depicts X-rays Swift detected for 12 days after the initial flash. Dust in our galaxy scattered the X-ray light back to us, creating an extraordinary set of expanding rings.
Star meets black hole
Tidal disruptions happen when an unlucky star strays too close to a black hole. Gravitational forces break the star apart into a stream of gas, as seen above. Some of the gas escapes, but some swings back around the black hole and creates a disk of debris that orbits around it.
These events are rare. They only occur once every 10,000 to 100,000 years in a galaxy the size of our Milky Way. Astronomers can’t predict when or where they’ll pop up, but Swift’s quick reflexes have helped it observe several tidal disruption events in other galaxies over its 20-year career.
Active galaxies
Usually, we think of galaxies – and most other things in the universe – as changing so slowly that we can’t see the changes. But about 10% of the universe’s galaxies are active, which means their black hole-powered centers are very bright and have a lot going on. They can produce high-speed particle jets or flares of light. Sometimes scientists can catch and watch these real-time changes.
For example, for several years starting in 2018, Swift and other telescopes observed changes in a galaxy’s X-ray and ultraviolet light that led them to think the galaxy’s magnetic field had flipped 180 degrees.
Magnetic star remnants
Magnetars are a type of neutron star, a very dense leftover of a massive star that exploded in a supernova. Magnetars have the strongest magnetic fields we know of — up to 10 trillion times more intense than a refrigerator magnet and a thousand times stronger than a typical neutron star’s.
Occasionally, magnetars experience outbursts related to sudden changes in their magnetic fields that can last for months or even years. Swift detected such an outburst from a magnetar in 2020. The satellite’s X-ray observations helped scientists determine that the city-sized object was rotating once every 10.4 seconds.
Comets
Swift has also studied comets in our own solar system. Comets are town-sized snowballs of frozen gases, rock, and dust. When one gets close to our Sun, it heats up and spews dust and gases into a giant glowing halo.
In 2019, Swift watched a comet called 2I/Borisov. Using ultraviolet light, scientists calculated that Borisov lost enough water to fill 92 Olympic-size swimming pools! (Another interesting fact about Borisov: Astronomers think it came from outside our solar system.)
What's next for Swift?
Swift has studied a lot of cool events and objects over its two decades, but there are still a few events scientists are hoping it’ll see.
Swift is an important part of a new era of astrophysics called multimessenger astronomy, which is where scientists use light, particles, and space-time ripples called gravitational waves to study different aspects of cosmic events.
In 2017, Swift and other observatories detected light and gravitational waves from the same event, a gamma-ray burst, for the first time. But what astronomers really want is to detect all three messengers from the same event.
As Swift enters its 20th year, it’ll keep watching the ever-changing sky.
Keep up with Swift through NASA Universe on X, Facebook, and Instagram. And make sure to follow us on Tumblr for your regular dose of space!

Having seen @foone's exhibit at VCF West XIII & XIV, I can say with 100% certainty, she does a fantastic job. Hands-on experience with history is what a vintage computer festival exhibit should be all about, and this right here is a prime example.

ik this blog is in a bit of a lull rn, so no pressure on answering, but I've perused thru most of the posts on worldbuilding for ssg and I didn't see this question asked: one of the main traits of humans that let us become the dominant sentient species is our opposable thumbs. ponies don't have those! and yes, unicorns can control and move things with magic but thats a difficult process to learn and not readily available to everyone. most worldbuilding I see for MLP tends to leave this question ambiguous behind the veil of cartoon logic. what are your thoughts? how do ponies maintain technological advancements and perform everyday tasks despite only being able to hold things with their mouths or (in some cases) horns? and what of writing and art?
Horses have extremely dexterous lips for ripping up grass. So they use their mouths WAY more than they do in the show. Fine motor skills are all done with the lips and teeth.
For bigger tasks, many earth ponies have horseshoes made of ferrous metal, and have magnets on items they need to interact with. Tea pots with magnetic handles, but the handles look like big disks for the shoe to fit in.
In the show, all these things are human-shaped for familiarity (and because designing for hoofed apex species is a lot of work). But in my world, things like door handles, light switches, buckets, sewing machines, typewriters, and such are all converted to large-surface hoof levers, mouth pull-strings, pressure plates, tooth-grips, etc
Here's a look at an environment that is built for someone with hooves and mouth rather than hands.
youtube
See how he doesn't struggle to operate human-centric machinery?
Meanwhile, creatures with hands will struggle in ponyville, when presented with something that is meant only to be bitten to operate.
Likewise, areas with mostly-unicorn populations have doors, buildings, devices, utensils, bookshelves, food, and everything else built for form rather than function, since they don't need to use their hooves and mouths for anything. Think a teapot with no handles at all. Nothing on the back, and nothing on the lid either except embellishments. No post that sticks up for hands or mouths to grab, just fancy markings. Unicorns can just lift that smooth lid out of the way and telekinetically hold the pot under the water. For this reason, isolated unicorns are often shocked and horrified to see ponies and pegasus use their hooves and mouths. A unicorn with a broken horn would be able to function in a pony world just fine, but is severely disabled in unicorn-only society. Though, they would still struggle when faces with devices that require horse-teeth, since unicorns, being deer, lack upper front teeth. Their hard dental pad is useful, but it is more delicate than teeth and can be injured by using pony devices.
Pegasus settlements use their mouths and hooves too, but have additional devices and adaptions mean to be operated with their wings. They have a highly developed alula, which is is the free-moving digit at the wrist of the wings.
A pegasus can grab and move things with it, but it's not as deft as their cloven hooves and prehensile dewclaws.
This is especially helpful since pegasus mouths are made of a lot of hardened cartilage with feathery skin over it. This helps them preen their feathers, but lowers dexterity.
Thankfully, most areas of Equestria have been adapted to all three species. Places of business, housing, devices, and commerce have pullies, hoofpads, soft mouth-grips, and such. Unicorns learn to use their bodies to operate things, or they train themselves to press the right area with magic to get results.
Twilight's school of friendship is the most inclusively-built area os equestria, with desks, writing utensils, and classrooms fit for a variety of hooves, hands, claws, mouths, and more. This breaks down a major barrier than has kept pony and non-pony creatures apart from each other. Hopefully the rest of equestria follows in her hoofsteps.

To all you fuckers saying "BUY DIGITAL MEDIA" lol. Lmfao, even.
Physical media will not save you and were never going to save you. Especially when people making them are the same greedy companies that run streaming services.
Learn to torrent. If you also want to back up your pirated media on Audio CDs or DVDs that's opposite of a bad thing, but buying random pre-made DVDs off Amazon is not it.
There are no real affordable archival solutions for digital media that don't decay with time, as far as I know. SSDs can lost a long time, but flash memory isn't invincible. All magnetic storage can decay over time or with mechanical accidents, and that includes hard drives or floppy disks. Optical disks are vulnerable to disk rot (like in OP).
Torrents seem nice, but P2P connections in the end is just the file on somebody's SSD or hard drive - you just add more redundancies. It can be pretty resilient if specifically organized for, but that almost never is the case, and old torrents for obscure media are almost always dead.
I don't know what is the answer and if anyone with archival knowledge/training would like to pitch in, that'd be great.
