gotta say, theres something really weird about how online queer spaces pretend that intersex people dont exist. even american queer rights orgs seem to ignore us. and then i see kiwi sites on queer communities and theres comparatively a lot of intersex stuff. i go to a local nurses office and intersex people are included in a pamphlet on representation in books. every queer rights org has a link to to sites for intersex rights. am i crazy or is america falling behind? its quite... concerning
Liberals will reblog a post about a supreme court ruling that attacks our rights and tag it "this is why we have to vote blue" the same way Republicans caption pictures of empty shelves in Detroit like "this will be life if the socialists win"
As a writer, the thought of being paid $260 for helping write a show that has over 12.8 billion minutes viewed is sickening. The writers strike is absolutely crucial for the future of script writing, I can’t see anyone in this generation wanting to work for so little when the workload and potential payout is so massive

To the baseball posts I see every time I’m scrolling on the ‘for you’ page, I think about you every day. (Sorry for taking over your acronym.) Anyways, keep that side quest stuff coming. The guy building sandcastles with his water cup in the dugout has occupied my brain.
You will never love me in the same way I did, but that’s okay. I will let you hate me for a thousand springs if it meant you would love me in a winter.

David - bisexual with a strong female lean. but he describes himself as “straight but also not opposed to any random impulses that may arise”
I kind of overlooked this for a very long time admittedly, as I assume a lot of people did because I rarely appear to see this discussed in depth minus one, but like. I know this is an Andrew Garfield quote, but the actual prospect of David being fifteen feet in the closet makes so much sense.
He is an incredibly notable figure in the universe of DRDT, his whole character is basically built upon that fact. Something else that's pretty obvious is that David is someone who cares a lot about how he's perceived by others. He works hard to make himself as palatable and uncontroversial as possible to other people.
It's no wonder that he would hide and/or sugarcoat his attraction to men when describing his sexuality to the public, or even begin repressing it himself. And not only that, but it makes the inappropriate way he responded to Nico being forcefully outed make so much more sense

David: So then, revealing your secret was a good thing, right? That way, you won’t have to be misgendered anymore.
Nico: …
Nico: I wasn’t ready.
David: This is definitely an improvement. It’s good for everyone to be open with their secrets.
Like no wonder this man cannot be trusted to handle queer identity in a respectful way, he's repressing his own so far that it's going to come out of his ass.
Well effectively 100% of our population born in the 1950s-1980s got lead poisoning as children (and like 50-60% of the population from the 1940-1950s) (and we only got below 20% of our children having lead poisoning as of roughly 1995).
Now, obviously, this is not the only problem we have but when at least 76% of our house of reps and 78% of our senators got lead poisoned as children, it's certainly part of the problem. And it's a part of the problem that we probably won't be comfortable talking about for like another couple hundred years when people can look back on the 2000s and reflect on it like how we reflect on Witch Hunts and ergot.
Ah, yes, because it's not like Cap faced prejudice or something, and it's one of the major reasons he was friends with Peggy before he got juiced.
It's not like the statement is about personal integrity.
It's not like Agent Carter was the head of a gigantic, secretive, powerful, corrupt government agency (which ironically made her The Man).
It's not like doing things just because lots of people tell you to do them is a fallacy or anything.
It's not like racism, sexism, and other forms of prejudice have often been the normal and common way to think in many, many societies.
It's not like one of Carter's lines in Cap 2 was saying that sometimes you need to give up on things and start over.

Nah, the statement suddenly becomes just fine because a woman said it. Even though the point of that bit in the movie was for Cap to accept it.
Sarcasm aside, I haven’t heard a single person complain about that speech in the 17 years since it was published. And I used to be a scans_daily regular.
"Until the 1970s, this big blackbird was considered to be the same species as the Great-tailed Grackle, but the two forms overlap on the coasts of Texas and Louisiana without interbreeding. The Boat-tail is a more aquatic creature, nesting in marshes, scavenging on beaches. Except in Florida, it is seldom found far away from tidewater. Boat-tailed Grackles nest in noisy colonies, the males displaying conspicuously with much wing-fluttering and harsh repeated calls."
I know it's gotta be shit right now. Antisemitism is on the rise. People are using Israel's genocide as an excuse to perpetuate antisemitic ideas. If you acknowledge that you're Jewish, someone will take that as an excuse to accuse you of Zionism and supporting the genocide. Celebrating your holidays? Same result.
And then on the other side, if you try to speak out against the genocide, to stick up for and show your support of the Palestinian people, your own people label you as an Enemy, and an antisemite. Your own Jewish identity is ignored or denied.
If you say nothing because you've realized nothing you say seems to be the right thing, you're accused by everyone of not caring, or secretly supporting one side - any maybe you do, but you can't say anything because you can't win no matter what side you're on.
The entire world has been equating Judaism with Israel on both sides and it isn't fair. It isn't fair when Jewish people are being arrested for antisemitic crimes in Germany - making up 37% of arrests despite making up a significantly smaller part of the population - because they weren't going to be quiet about genocide after their own people were met with silence during the Holocaust. It isn't fair when Jewish people are vocally denouncing the actions of Israel and calling for an end to the ruthless bombing. It isn't fair when even some Israelis risk everything to speak out against the state and their horrible crimes. It isn't fair when Jewish people are simply existing as Jewish people, either. Even when they aren't "proving" their support, it's still unfair to make such assumptions about someone because they're Jewish
And if you're one of these people who's shown hostility towards Jewish people over Palestine when they hadn't indicated they supported Israel at all, fuck you.
I tried out a new challah recipe! It's a very soft bread and, if it makes sense, has a thin bite to it (as in, it's a very light bread). The dough was also surprisingly pleasant to work with! I didn't have to alter much of it at all in order to get to work
There's honey in it (I hate honey), but it's baked out pretty well, though it hasn't been baked out well enough that it can be a savory bread. If you added cinnamon or chocolate chips or something to sweeten it, I think the flavors would make even more sense. I think next time, I'll try to make it sweeter because the honey notes are confusing me a bit.
Everything has been so pathetically genuinely terribly cringe to me lately, to the point where I don't get joy out of anything anymore, but I'm trying
I'm aware enough to know that this is a side effect of severe depression and stagnance and mundaneity and generally being sick of being alive and hating everything for it
Every now and then I remember the time when Bucky fought against Ursa Major in Gulag and how he won even though he was a simple human (with a bionic arm ofc but you know what I mean xD)
One of my silly little hopes is to see an adaptation of the arcs: The Trial of Captain America (or Bucky Barnes at least) and Gulag.
(I'm delusional I know 🤡)
