Alright, you've convinced me. I made a blog :) (and yes I will ramble about my pirates, when I have a chance)
Thanks for the videos!! Someone actually recommended the first one to me once, I never got around to it but I certainly will now! And here's the blog I found: https://source-vintage.co.uk/blogs/news/vampire-hunters-of-the-18th-19th-centuries
Mona seems really cool, I love how much detail you put into his relationships with other characters (and all the art on the profile!) :) and yeah being protective while also putting them through The Horrors is very real of you
I don't think tumblr *has* an option to let anons share images, but I can just convert it into a link again.. if I ever stop procrastinating and finish the drawing asjkaghjlkasfhg /lh

that article is so interesting, love the vampire hunting kit 👀 how much of this did you add to your lore? or perhaps only mythos in your lore... idea: myths vs reality list for vampires in your paracosm (with i presume lots of retroactive lore added, no judgement lol)
(and thank you for the compliments on my beautiful tortured son <3)

send a heart - 💗 slow kiss / gentle kiss / inevitable / soft [Mark x f!reader]
“…8…9…10. Ok. Set it down Mark.”
Mark groaned as he sat the weight down. Making sure to hear it lock into place before he rolled out. He’d made that mistake before. “So this is where you’ve been all day?”
Mark smiled as he heard [Y/N]’s voice, along with the sound of the sliding doors behind her, jumping up to greet her; despite how tired his legs were with the new training. “Hey! Yeah, this new training regiment is kind of talking up all my time. What are you doing here?”
“What? You didn’t think I came all this way just to see you, did you?” [Y/N] teased. Laughing a little at Mark’s pout. “You’re not the only one the boys are making all the new toys for.” She glanced up at the observation deck where Cecil and Donald were watching.
“We’re wasting tax payer funding here people.” The superheroes groan as Cecil’s dry voice came over the intercom.
“Oh, come on Cecil!” Mark whined. “Can I take a little break? For like, a minute?”
The older man rolled his eyes and then came back on the intercom. “Give me another 3 sets of 10, and then you can go play with your girlfriend.”
Mark beamed. He could do that no problem! He leaned in to give [Y/N] a quick, gentle kiss, then went back to the machine to do more presses.
“Are you sure that’s wise?” Donald asked, once they were back in the cone of silence of the observation deck. “Encouraging their relationship like that?”
“The more ties Mark has to Earth the better.” Cecil answered. “I want him tied down as much as possible to make sure he doesn’t fly off the handle like his father.” The men watched as Mark pressed the huge weight above his head. Seeming effortless now, when a moment ago it was a strain on him. “And, you know what they say. If you want a horse to work, sometimes you gotta give him the carrot."

theory, (or stating the obvious?) the reason Leo’s shell is now a gardening project is his real one was horrifically damaged and needed a full makeover to not die. Hooray for Fay magic!
Bonus points if my wild more speculative guess of Leo having memory loss (not including JJ trivia) including the invasion and his family to some extent being on the money, lol.

full marks on the theory~ but alas, no bonus points or extra credit this time...
leo very much remembers the invasion and the events leading up to his displacement to the feywilds. and he is very much aware of the absence of his brothers.

*slams in here* Ellie and Oliver- what the HELL does that dynamic look like. We know Ellie doesn’t go home often after moving out- and here is a wholeass half-sib who her mum is raising and her brother likes- who is a Kid but also holds SO much of their dad in him. Who says ‘maybe dad was right’ who wants to be ‘omniboy’, who keeps wanting to be present and put people down. I remember when Nolan was taken off by the other Viltrumited Ellie’s reaction on learning that was “good”. Looking at the entire situation and her place in the GDA which Oliver hates and the distance and the divide- I’m gonna assume she doesn’t like her half-sib, what’s the back and forth there?
Tumblr media
Not pictured: Debbie on the ground having heart palpitations because Oliver keeps begging his sister to drop him from higher and higher. Here's a cute doodle of them being good siblings, before we get into the sad part (:
Since Ellie didn't go to Thraxa with Mark (it was her way of trying to soften the blow of Mark disobeying Cecil's orders - 'it won't be so bad if one of us goes and the other one stays, right?') she was as baffled as anyone else when he returned with a baby. She thinks about cracking some stupid joke about what he got up to while he was up there and how his gf might not approve, and then Mark tells her that, actually, this is their little brother. All the humor and jokey vibes leaves in an instant. She can put two and two together, of course, and knows who else Mark must have met up there even before she's told the details.
But back to Oliver specifically - I think Ellie would hate him in the beginning. She doesn't mean to, she knows that this baby isn't to blame for her father's actions, he had nothing to do with what happened on Earth the day their dad abandoned them all... but he's just... a living reminder of her father's actions. Nolan said during the fight that he'd just start all over again because the twins were failures - and, well, it looks like he kept his word. She doesn't hate Oliver, exactly, but hates how she feels whenever she thinks of him.
She can't stand to look at Oliver, can't stand being around him. She looks at him and the only thing she can think of is Omni-man leveling Chicago and abandoning his daughter to die. By the time Oliver is brought to Earth, she's already 18, which means she's already moved out of the house, and it's easy for her to avoid the new child.
She winds up getting mad at herself for hating him so much - she knows it's not his fault. She can't blame him for all of that, for all of her baggage. But I think she won't be able to bring herself to get over it until someone else intervenes - maybe Mark, or maybe Cecil has a little talk about it if he can clearly tell she's angry about all of this (he would definitely know about her intense hatred for her father). But I think the biggest change would be if Debbie talked to her about it. She'll tell her daughter "I don't blame you or Mark for what he did, so how can you blame Oliver?" and Ellie will finally decide that she's pushed this too far and needs to see him as his own person, not just an extension of their dad.
After that, I think it actually gets much easier for them. They grow really close, in fact. Mark has this worried older brother dynamic where he's always watching over Oliver and doesn't want him to do anything that could give him a scraped knee - Ellie, however, I think she's willing to break the rules with him a little bit. Debbie tells them "no flying in the house!!" and Ellie will just smile and whisper "I won't tell if you won't..." and they float the whole time they talk about Oliver's homework for the day or something. Little things like that where Ellie is willing to let him have fun with his powers.
I see how strict Mark is with Oliver because he's scared of his little brother getting hurt, and I think, well… Eleanor would be willing to take him on a minor mission with him in order to teach him the basics of being a superhero. She doesn't want Oliver to get hurt any more than Mark does, but she just has a different way of going about it.
Mark wants to protect Oliver from the world of being a hero by telling him he shouldn't do it - he tells his brother that he should just focus on being a normal child and save the hero business for when he's older. Ellie, on the other hand, can clearly see that Oliver is willing to sneak out and lie to his own family to do something he knows he's not supposed to be doing. So instead she decides, if I can't stop him then I'll just join him - if he's going to go out and be a hero, I'll go with him to teach him the ropes and make sure he does it right. She wants him to be good at it both so he can protect himself better if he ever sneaks out on his own again, and also so that he'll protect other people better too. His first solo fight caused some maaaajor destruction, and she's gonna tell him asap that he can't let that happen again lol.
And I think all of this makes Oliver look up to Ellie as the "cool sibling". Despite rapidly aging at a pace humans don't, he is still just a kid. So he just sees that one of his siblings won't let him do the cool fun stuff but the other one will and he goes "hell yeah" whenever he gets to hang out with his sister (':
Ellie being willing to teach Oliver about fighting and taking him along on one of her jobs is going to cause a HUGE fight with her, Mark, and Debbi, I fear. She's already moved out of the house, but I think she'd fly Oliver home to make sure he got back alright, and Mark will meet her on the way, already angry. He must have seen their fight on the news or something. First he's angry because "You're putting Oliver's life in danger by taking him out to fight! He's too young for this!" and secondly, which Mark might be even more angry about, is that Ellie still works for Cecil - so taking Oliver out on a job with her basically means she had Oliver working for Cecil. She tries to argue that they need to teach Oliver how to use his powers instead of just telling him to never use them, but I think Mark just disagrees with her too strongly about all of this. He doesn't want Oliver fighting at such a young age, and his anger about Ellie working with Cecil is probably still fresh at this point so he doesn't think he can trust her judgment right now.
When Oliver starts wearing the Omni-Boy suit, things get stressed between them. I imagine that during the fitting of the outfit, Mark will bring up that not only do the people on Earth not forgive their father for his actions, but neither does Eleanor. And Oliver likely gives the same reasoning as he gave before - maybe he can change her mind. He won't, though. He can't. I'm actually a little bit torn on how the reveal would go.. part of me thinks Ellie would get angry at him and tell him that he has no idea what that symbol means, the pain and grief it brings people to see it again - and another part of me thinks she'd just straight up tell him that she won't go on jobs with him anymore if he's wearing that suit. She tried hard to move past her issue with viewing Oliver as just an extension of their father, but this might just make her go back to that. Especially how defensive he gets over it, I think that could cause Ellie to get really mad. Eventually she realizes that they just have two fundamentally different views of Nolan, and she just puts her head in her hands and sighs heavily, unsure on what to do next.
In the end, after Oliver gets talked to about Ellie's anger by Mark and Debbie, I think they all just come to the conclusion that they shouldn't try to force the topic at all. Oliver has his views on their dad, Ellie has her own views, and neither of them are exactly wrong(although Ellie might argue otherwise)... So they can maintain their previous close sibling bond as long as their dad isn't brought up. It's a sensitive topic all around. Maybe she can look past the uniform after a little while, but it still angers her that Oliver won't swap it for something else.
When Ellie learns about Oliver killing the Mauler Twins, she tries to talk to him about how they need to protect people rather than hurt them, but Oliver will just give her the same argument he gave Mark - he's protecting people by making sure the bad guys can never hurt anyone again. I think she'd just look down at him with a pained, sad expression... and then she'd just leave. Mark and Debbie can handle this one, maybe. Or maybe they can't. Either way, Ellie can't be around him at the moment - not because she might hurt him, but because she's starting to see their father in him, and that scares her and fills her full of grief at the same time.
She won't let him turn out like their dad did. She won't let him do the things Nolan did. She loves Oliver - but she also loved her father before he betrayed them all. She doesn't know how to feel or what to think after all of that, and if she ever learned about Oliver saying 'what if dad was right?' (I think Mark would keep that to himself because he knows how Ellie would feel) all she can think about is the day Chicago was leveled.

Request: Darling....can I request a fic of xaden ....where the reader is her sister and he and other marked ones don't like her due to some reason...but then she's a goddamn badass and yeah make it angsty as hell(I don't know if this makes sense)
Pairings: Xaden Riorson x sister!reader, Marked ones x Reader, sort of Sawyer x fem!Reader
Word count: 1.7k
Warnings: IRON FLAME SPOILERS, cannon accurate violence, targeted hated, cursing, life threats, past deaths, misdirected hatred and grief, bad parenting.
A/N: This is where my mind went with this request! Hopefully you all enjoy it ❤️
~~~~~~~~~~~
The weight of the guilt clung to you like a second skin, thick and suffocating. A burden and weight that seems to be placed rather unfairly onto your shoulders. As each and every step through the halls of Basgiath War College was met with narrowed eyes, cold glares, and the ever-present whispers that followed like a specter.
It didn’t matter who you passed in the halls. It didn’t matter when. Didn’t matter who you sat with in class or in the dining hall. The other cadets in your year would see the swirling dark tattoo on your left arm and lift their noses at you. While other marked ones would do the very same thing.
They didn’t trust you.
No one trusted you.
He didn’t trust you.
Xaden Riorson had made sure of that.
Your older brother—the only family you had left—had turned his back on you the moment you arrived at the college when you were old enough. His expression carved from stone, his voice sharp enough to cut. You had known it would be difficult. You had expected anger, the frustration, even the resentment.
But this? This was something worse.
You wasn’t just unwanted. You were avoided. You were the enemy. To everyone.
“Stay the hell out of my way.”
His voice was ice, cutting through the tension between them like a blade. And cut through you like shards.
You had found him in the training yard, surrounded by the Marked Ones in his squad, his second-in-command Garrick, your old friend, leaning against a post while Bodhi, your cousin, didn’t even look at you. While Imogen crossed her arms, regarding her with a mixture of distrust and disdain.
But ever so determined, you lifted your chin. It had been almost two months since you had gotten there. Almost two months and he still refused to even give you two minutes of his time. And yet you refusing to shrink under their scrutiny. “I’m not your enemy, Xaden. I’m your sister. You’d think after six years you’d know that. I’m not here to cause trouble, I’m here to,”
He scoffed. “A little late for that, don’t you think?” Interrupting your sentence
That had hurt. Had it been too late? You could feel your stomach twisted. You had prepared herself for hostility, but hearing it aloud—from him—still hurt. Hurt more than expected. That was your brother.
But in that moment you had never more like a stranger.
Garrick sighed, rubbing a hand down his face. “Look, it’s not personal—”
“Like hell it isn’t,” Xaden cut in, his jaw clenched. He took a step toward you, his voice lowering to something dangerous. “Because of you, our father is dead. Because of you, our mother walked away from us. Had you just been a little more helpful, things wouldn’t be this fucking difficult,” he said. His voice filled with pure distain, pure hatred and anger.
His words hit like a punch to the ribs.
You had only been fourteen years old, just barely understanding what was even happening when their father was executed for his rebellion along with the other leaders. You had stood there, frozen, tears streaming down her face while Xaden held her hand so tightly it hurt.
But it was your mother who shattered everything.
It had been before the rebellion. Years before. Right after Xaden’s birthday. She had tucked you both in at bed that night. Told you both how much she loved you. Kissed you both so lovingly and softly. And the next morning?
Gone.
No note. No explanation. Just a home that felt empty and wrong.
Xaden had never forgiven her for that. Neither had you.
And now, surrounded by the people who would die for him, who would follow him into battle without hesitation, he made sure they all knew where she stood.
“She can’t be trusted,” he had told them. “Keep your distance.”
And they had listened.
The isolation was suffocating.
It was a permanent weight in you chest that was always threatening your mind constantly.
You were used to whispers, but the silence was worse. The Marked Ones didn’t speak to you unless necessary. They didn’t train with you. If you tried to spar, they found someone else. If you sat down at a table, they left.
Even the others followed their lead.
Even your squad. They put up with you when they had to. But that was it.
Sawyer was the only one who seemed indifferent, watching her with something like curiosity rather than outright hatred. At least she had him. Sawyer was sweet.
But Xaden?
Xaden didn’t look at you at all.
And that was worse than all of it.
It was months past, presentation and threshing was just around the corner—or just over the gauntlet.
The Gauntlet loomed in the distance above them, an unforgiving structure of swinging beams, crumbling platforms, and gaps that seemed impossible to cross.
Failure meant death.
And you weren’t about to fail.
The morning of the run, whispers followed her as she strapped on her training leathers. Echoed whispers surrounded them around the dining hall and through the halls out side.
“She’ll fall.”
“She won’t even make it halfway.”
“She should’ve never been allowed here in the first place.”
“She won’t make it past threshing.”
“Let’s hope not.”
You ignored them.
You had to.
You couldn’t allow those thoughts to take over. You couldn’t let them be right.
All the odds were against you. Abandoned and ignored by your brother. Ignored and shunned by your family from a decision that you truly had no part of. It wasn’t your fault. In the big grand scheme of things, it was not your fault. But that didn’t matter.
Because in their minds, and in Xaden’s, it was your fault. Everything. Was. Your. Fault.
And that guilt? That unfair burden? That would always remain as long as Xaden blamed you for everything.
It had been months now after parapet. Threshing was in a few weeks. Presentation. But first was the Gauntlet.
Xaden stood at the top with Garrick, arms crossed as he surveyed the cadets. If he heard the murmurs, he didn’t acknowledge them. His dark eyes narrowing down the course at his wing as the other sections and squads prepared to do their practice runs before the timed trials.
Practicing for when threshing was finally around. The test for a chance to prove themselves worthy. Worthy enough to make it past presentation, they’d need all these skills. To ride your dragons. If you made it that far, at least.
The course was grueling. Designed to push cadets past their limits. Designed with dragons in mind for each obstacle. Designed to weed out the weak ones.
And so here you were. Standing in the front of the line for your squad, just behind Sawyer. First squad was finishing up ahead of you. The first few competitors barely made it over the first swinging bridge before slipping to their deaths. Others hesitated at the crumbling stones, losing precious time.
Then it was time for your squad. Sawyer went first, his agility unmatched as he maneuvered through the course with a speed no one could match. It was probably because he had done this before.
Sawyer was a repeat, as you had learned. He had gone through all this last year.
Then it was your turn.
Your pulse thundered in your ears, but you shoved the nerves down. You didn’t have the luxury of fear. You couldn’t afford to feel. Not now. Not in front of the rest of your Squad, the
As the signal to begin echoed through the training grounds, you launched yourself forward with unwavering resolve.
The first obstacle, a towering vertical wall, stood as an imposing sentinel. Without hesitation, you sprinted toward it, you steps light and measured. Utilizing your momentum, you leaped, you fingers gripping the edge with practiced precision. With a controlled pull, she swung her leg over and descended smoothly, barely pausing before advancing to the next challenge.
The rotating wheel loomed ahead, a notorious obstacle that had bested many cadets. Timing her approach, you synchronized your movements with the wheel’s rotations. With a swift, calculated jump, you grasped a handle and swung yourself to the other side, landing in a crouch before springing forward without losing momentum.
A series of balance beams awaited, each narrowing mean. You navigated the beams with grace. Your arms subtly adjusting to maintain equilibrium. Your focus was absolute, gaze fixed ahead, blocking out the murmurs of onlookers and the weight of expectations.
Next came the rope climb. Seizing the coarse rope, you ascended hand over hand, you movements fluid and efficient. Reaching the summit, you tapped the marker and descended in controlled slides, your feet touching the ground with barely a sound.
The next challenge, the chimney climb, required both strength and strategy. Positioning yourself between the narrow walls, you used opposing pressure to “walk” upward, your movements steady and controlled.
The final challenge was the huge steep wall. The one to run up, the challenge that simulates climbing up the dragon leg to ride. And just above it was where your brother was.
Taking a deep breath, you backed up. Backing up as far as she possibly could. This was where she proved them all wrong. And then. Suddenly, you bolted forward. Using all the strength she had, she spent it into and bolted up the wall. Your feet pressed against the wall as you pushed yourself up and up and up until your hand reached the lip of the curve.
With all the strength you had left, you pulled yourself over the edge. Your body was pulled over with the last bit of your strength as finally your right leg got pulled over. And a soft click of the stop watch sounded in your ears.
A stunned silence fell over the crowd as you finished hauling yourself over the edge.
Garrick’s voiced cleared before he read your time aloud.
Second place.
Second place.
Only second to Sawyer.
The silence stretched, heavy and stunned, before someone let out a low whistle. And then some hushed mumbling.
You got to your feet before you turned, locking eyes with Xaden. Onyx eyes, locking with onyx eyes. Sweat dripping down your skin.
For the first time since you had arrived, he was looking at you.
Really looking at you.
And for a moment—a single, fleeting moment—you saw something crack in his expression. Something uncertain. Looking like you big brother again. But there was something else.
Something like doubt.
But then he turned away, jaw tightening.
He didn’t congratulate you.
Didn’t acknowledge what you had done.
But he couldn’t ignore it, either.
You weren’t weak.
Just like Xaden, you were a Riorson.
And you were a goddamn force to be reckoned with.
Daydreaming while listening to music is great but I just learned that daydreaming while listening to live music is a whole other level (got to see an orchestra a few days ago, it's so much more immersive but also each piece was like half an hour long so I was able to really get into it haha, anyway 10/10, would recommend)
Also, just checking to make sure my last ask didn't get eaten by tumblr again :)
-🎆💜
that sounds so amazing??? i've actually never been to see live music but i must try this experience at once. i feel like if i went to like a band concert i might get too swept up in the concert vibes (people jumping) but then maybe an orchestra would be where it's at yknow
send a heart - 💛 reunion kiss / relief
There was a ringing in his ear. A clear, high-pitched whine as he looked around. Destruction. Smoke and ash filling the air. Fire, and the faint sound of sirens from rescue vehicles in the distance as background noise to the whining.
Mark willed his legs to move as he took in the devastation. “Rex…Zandale….[Y/N]….” He couldn’t see them. They weren’t anywhere around. Mark looked around at the alien and human carcasses on the ground. Looking for his friends but hoping they weren’t there. “Oh God….”
The sound of rubble shifting caught Mark’s attention and he turned around to see a chunk of building open like a door, Rex and [Y/N] stepping out. “Oh thank God!”
Mark flew over to the group as the climbed out of their hole. Scoping [Y/N] up and kissing them fervently. “Hey man, I’m ok too.” Rex chimed in.
“I thought you were dead.” Mark told [Y/N]. Ignoring Rex for the time being as he tried to get his heartbeat to slow down.
“I’m ok. Rex pulled me in just before the building collapsed and avoid most of the rubble.”
“Yeah, it was pretty heroic.” Rex agreed. “Although…I guess [Y/N]’s super strength did help a little. We would have been pancakes if they didn’t hold that retaining fall up.” He and [Y/N] fist bumped signaling that they both did a good job.
“Where’s Bulletproof? He wasn’t with us when the building went down.”
“I…I don’t know…” Mark was ashamed to admit it but, even though he called out for the other hero, his focus had been entirely on [Y/N].
“We have to find him then. Along with survivors.”
“Uggh…can’t we just take like a 10-minute break? Is that too much to ask??”
“You need to get checked out.” Mark insisted. They seemed unscathed but he wanted to make sure they were ok.
“I’m fine.” [Y/N] insisted. Pulling away from Mark’s arms with a serious look. “Civilians come first.”
Before Mark could argue anymore, [Y/N] took off. “Man. It’s gotta suck dating like a genuinely good person all the time.”
“It has it’s moments.” Mark replied to Rex’s comment. “Are you ok man? How’s your favorite finger?”
Rex looked down at his hand, seeming to try and move it. “Aww man! Could this day get any worse for me?!”
How do you think Shen Qingqiu would be affected if he had Xin Mo?
holy fuck i've been thinking about this for months and now that i've been asked i'm kind of lost. anon i love you prepare for a whole lotta yapping
the question is vague enough to both give me room to fuck around and to not know what to focus on. so i'll go with trying to figure out what the chain of events would be, mostly. i'm very sleepy though. that should be taken into consideration.
xin mo uses its masters' trauma and psychological issues against them. which means we just have to take shen qingqiu's issues and ramp them up enough to see what that would do to him. how that change would present itself is highly dependent on how he comes upon xin mo, as well.
first off, what does he want? shen qingqiu wants, in no particular order: to survive, to have luo binghe by his side and safe, and to protect his sect from a wrathful luo binghe.
he dislikes violence but doesn't shy away from it when it's expected of him to be unmoved by it. he's a deeply curious person and likes theorising, cultivation, and feeling powerful and respected. he thinks of himself as a "faker" but is proud of his moral stances, especially when they differ from the original goods'.
his biggest frustration throughout the novel is the fact that he cannot protect luo binghe from the plot and all the suffering that would bring him, and that he is under the control of something so opposed to his own goals as the system.
let's say shen qingqiu were to fall into the abyss and find xin mo himself, and therefore the system's control of him would be weakened, as it was when binghe was down there. this would mean he didn't betray binghe, maybe even took his place. this has to happen because he figures out the system is his biggest obstacle, before he gets to xin mo, or else my whole thing falls apart. maybe shang qinghua plays a part in this, maybe not.
it doesn't matter much how, but if he doesn't come to this realisation at some point, he would not place his target on the system, nor would he get the courage to try to change things according to his own wishes.
so. abyss -> revenge on the system -> find xin mo -> cultivate with it -> get out of the abyss.
first off, the sect wouldn't stand for him using a clearly harmful (to both himself and the world around him) demonic sword, or any sort of demonic cultivation at all, so he'd have to hide it if he were to make his way back. paranoia and fear would probably change him into an overprotective person, someone who slowly becomes less careful about what he has to do in order to protect his people, especially when we factor in how he'd had to, for years, live under the control and supervision of the system.
there is also the problem of getting close to the protagonist again. if he were to make contact, the system would re-activate, and his attempt to kill it would be useless.
he'd draw himself away from the people he cares about so he could watch over them. he would study and try to use the sword to change things in his favour, with the right incentive. the harm brought to his cultivation by the sword would probably force him to become more secretive so he isn't discovered.
he would probably seclude himself away from cang qiong, binghe and most of the world. whether he goes into the demon realm or not doesn't matter. he would rely on only himself, unless he can get shang qinghua involved in his plans. i imagine shang qinghua would be opposed to it, not only because the system would be against it, but because shen qingqiu's death or pain would spell his own destruction (by luo binghe's hand) if he didn't try to stop it.
the threat of huan hua palace and people discovering binghe's true nature would probably allow for the sword to take advantage of him more and more as he uses it to fight against them. i don't think the opm would not go after luo binghe, especially with shen qingqiu out of the picture, so i'm imagining the old fuck would offer luo binghe some sort of help just to get him close. shen qingqiu wouldn't stand for it, and we know that as he gets more desperate, shen qingqiu tends toward pragmatism. he would do what needs to get done, i guess.
"stuck between a rock and a hard place" pretty much describes shen qingqiu in svsss. having that not be the system's fault, for once, would probably push him to the edge enough that he does something extremely stupid and turns the entire cultivation world against him in an attempt to protect binghe from the opm's influence.
i don't think he would go too far, outwardly. he would probably bring more harm unto himself with xin mo than binghe had, and would probably suffer more than anyone else involved. him being so tight-lipped about his own motivations would get him scorned and named a traitor to the human realm. he'd have shen jiu's reputation post-trial, maybe. he would become colder, lifeless, honed-in on his goals.
this was an extremely long-winded way of saying that shen yuan, corrupted by xin mo, would become a husk of his former self. i imagine a moment where he tries to be warm again, that whole fond teacher shtick, and would find himself horrified at how much of an act that is now, rather than acting cold and heartless. i think he'd have turned his caring into caring too much to the point of leaving himself behind.
i had a wip of shen yuan transmigrating into luo binghe and having to lean into xin mo's influence so that he could get luo binghe reinstated into his own body that i put on the shelf at some point. he ended up baiting people into trying to assassinate him, and used their sacrifice as a way to power some sort of revival technique.
shen yuan needs plausible deniability for every action he does, especially ones he sees as morally reprehensible. so. add that to the whole thing above and that's the bulk of it, i think. maybe. god please tell me i make sense i need a shizun headpat
New here so idk if you've discussed this before but what do you think about the judo flip scene.. because I've seen some who consider to be a bit toxic some who adore it so what's you pov on it?
Love ya
I’ve always loved that scene; it’s actually one of my favorites. And here’s the thing: I agree that Annabeth’s reaction was overly aggressive. It was not a normal or healthy way to react. But I do not, in any way, believe it indicates that she is abusive.
Annabeth wasn’t trying to hurt Percy, and she didn’t hurt him. Demigods are much more durable than regular humans and have a much higher pain tolerance. And she knows exactly what that limit is for him, since they’ve fought and sparred together for so many years. Additionally, Annabeth thought that Percy was still invulnerable at the time and couldn’t physically get hurt. And if you’re still skeptical, look at Percy’s response. He didn’t show any signs of pain, fear, or upset. He wasn’t angry or confused either. He laughed. With affection. In no way did he feel actually threatened by her. Percy understood that her actions came from her being overwhelmed by her emotions. After all, Annabeth hadn’t seen her boyfriend for eight months. Percy is the only constant in her life, the one person who makes her feel safe and loved. Annabeth had spent months worrying and not sleeping, only to find Percy completely fine, even better than fine. Although she logically knew it wasn’t his fault, her emotions took over. Initially she reacted as a girlfriend by kissing him. But then, as her adrenaline surged, she instinctively responded like his sparring partner, a role she slips into when she’s pit against him for practice. Her feelings made her flip out a little, but this emotional reaction was a one-time thing, not a pattern of behavior. Percy was perfectly fine, and the scene reflects a moment of emotional release, not abuse.
So let me restate this so I can be very clear. No, judo flipping percy was not a normal way to react. It was overly aggressive. However, it doesn’t indicate that Annabeth is abusive. She was overwhelmed by her emotions and her fight-or-flight response kicked in, which really shouldn’t surprise people. She’s a demigod with PTSD who’s been raised as a child solider. (An extremely traumatized 16 year old child who’s been heartbroken and under emotional distress for 8 months straight didn’t handle her emotions well??Wow! What a shocker! Let’s all go call her toxic and abusive!)
Percy didn’t get hurt or have any negative emotions towards the event. He was fine, she was fine, and it never happened again. They consistently make each other feel very safe and loved.
Can people go try and pick apart a different relationship? Maybe one that actually is toxic?
