Most of them were children, brave, ah yes, but still children.

Marlene Mckinnon -Milly Alcock- was one of the bravest, when she witnessed her whole family's death, she went mad. Killing death eaters while using forbidden spells, the Order wanted to get her out when she sacrificed herself by protecting a pregnant Lily Evans. Her last words were for James, her best friend, Dorcas, her soulmate, and Lily, her dear friend: Fuck you're all ugly criers.

Frank and Alice Longbottom -Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan- were pure souls, kind and loyal. Their loyalty cursed them to not meet their only son: Neville. Everything for the Order. Everyone that was there that night, on one or the other side still hears their screams at night. The walls and portraits suffer their pain, and howl at night, for the Lovers of the Order.

Benjy Fenwick -Suraj Sharma- was a witted man, funny, patient, and optimistic. The Hufflepuff was its perfect definition. On his last day, he was so scared and alone. Shivering, but still with his wand out, he always trusted his dear friends, that they could save him. The poor boy was blinded by his trust. One against six, it was doomed from the start. He did not leave, he did not escape. A scared little boy, imploded into pieces.

Edgar Bones -Edvin Ryding- never failed to impress the other members of the Order. His innovative way of thinking gave them many advantages in the war and made them win many battles. The Order was lucky to have him. Edgar was unlucky to fight alongside the Order. His whole family got wiped out, and they began this bloody massacre with him getting killed on a dark street, between trash cans, muggles drinking their problems away, and prostitutes trying to have clients that winter. He became, nothing.

Caradoc Dearborn's -Daniel Kaluuya- strength was such an advantage to the Order, both physical and magical. He also had the gift of lying pretty well and had been on multiple missions to discover weaknesses from Voldemort's side. The mole of the Order, he was called. He had seen, he had to do horrible things to message back and help the Order. After that picture, he announced his last mission. Two months later he came back with useful information, scarred to life. He'd prefer vanishing and disappearing, being called dead than stop working for the Order. He was no traitor. But he couldn't do it anymore, he was tired, so tired...

Gideon and Fabian Prewett -Nick Gehlfuss- are now most well-known to be the younger brothers of the famous Molly Weasley. Before that, they were great warriors. Because yes, they were warriors. They took down many Death Eaters, even in death, Gideon with his last breath took one with him. Fabian was alone and taken back to an unknown location where he was tortured to have information. He never gave in and starved to death, already half gone by his wounds, a few days later. Twins, separated. Ah, history does repeat itself.

Dorcas Meadowes' -Alexandra Park- surname in Hogwarts was the Nosebreaker. She was wild, that one. She and Marlene were the chaotic duo that needed to be tamed, but that worked so well together. She saw so much pain and death, and Marlene's death was the last straw. She couldn't take it anymore. Marlene's madness overtook Dorcas. She did not become mad, she went utterly psychotic and killed everyone in her way, absorbing all the pain and the hardship she contained for years. Voldemort feared her so much he wanted to see her dead himself. He killed her and watched her corpse for two long hours, waiting to be certain of her death. The Nosebreaker became the Death Eaters' Menace.

Those children fought a war that wasn't theirs, knowing the consequences; dealing with the consequences. They suffered loss and misery and pain like no one else. They were children fighting adults' war, while those were behind desks, manipulating the fresh meat to fight for them. Never alongside them. They died, almost every one of them. And each one hoped for one thing, as they took their last breath, that this war would end with them, that their children wouldn't suffer like they did for so long.

If she didn’t have Sirius, I think Cat would be perfect with Marlene!

Listen, they would just be… adorable, okay?

Cat’s calmer personality would perfectly balance out Marlene’s feistiness, and they would keep each other in check really well.

Cat would probably have the same insecurity about being a Muggleborn dating a wealthy pureblood, but Marlene would never be having that; she adores Cat and would never do a thing to make her feel unworthy.

Besides, she insists, Cat is about ten times smarter than most of the pureblood twats she knows, so what does blood matter?

When they finally get married after the war (because yes, in my canon everyone lives and has happy endings), they make sure to have one wizard ceremony at the McKinnons’ residence and a traditional Muggle one at the church in Cat’s hometown.

And when Cat comes out as genderqueer later in life, Marlene accepts her without question, of course, and never introduces them as anything more than “my spouse” from then on.

They never do have kids, but they end up adopting a number of formerly stray cats (one of which Marlene names “Catherine,” to Cat’s fond annoyance).

I will admit I actually really love Beabadoobee as Marlene McKinnon and Sofia Bryant as Mary McDonald, just not with 35-40+ year old men as their fancasted peers. Maybe Alexandra Shipp could be Andrew/Aaron/Ben’s Mary, she’s in her 30’s!

I had to look those up. Yeah, they're cute options, but they are SO YOUNG. Especially compared to the men.

‘So, we all know what we’re doing right?’ James whispered as they stood huddled at the top of the stairs. Everyone nodded. They had decided the best way to tackle the situation was to tackle it, Sirius, Remus and Peter were going to corral Daisy downstairs whilst James and Lily were going to gather her things and pack them. They figured if they could get her out of the house that would be a start. 

Lily broke away first followed closely behind by Sirius as the other three lingered by the bannister watching nervously. Lily gently rapped on the door a couple of times and then opened it, entering to find her sister in the same position Sirius had left her. 

‘Dais?’ she said sitting on the edge of her bed whilst Sirius perched on the edge of the desk.  ‘What?’ came a hoarse groan from her pillow.  ‘The boys and I were talking-’ ‘Since when did you become best friends?’ Daisy sneered. Lily rolled her eyes.  ‘They’re worried about you,’ Lily insisted.  ‘So? It's not like they can help anything,’ Daisy said, still not turning around. 

‘Dais,’ Sirius said, clearing his throat. He shifted uncomfortably; he didn't feel like he could speak to her the way he had before. It felt awkward now he had an audience.  ‘Dais, Lily told us everything that’s happened and, um, she’s right…we’re worried about you. And I know it’s not easy but we’re here to help so we were talking and we think you should come with us. Both of you. You two can come to the Potter’s and-’ ‘No,’ Daisy said, turning over and looking at them.  ‘Dais,’ James said.  ‘I’m not leaving here,’ she said, ‘this is my home.’ ‘We’re not saying leave forever Dais,’ Lily said.  ‘Like Vernon and Petunia aren’t going to have it on the market as soon as we’re out of here,’ she sneered.  ‘Petunia wouldn’t do that,’ Lily said.  ‘She would if he told her she had to,’ she muttered.  ‘Dais, you can’t fester in here forever,’ Sirius reasoned.  ‘What would you rather me do? Run away from all my problems like you do?’ she snapped. Sirius’ jaw clenched at the dig. It was a low blow even if it was true.  ‘Daisy Alexandra Evans don’t be so horrible,’ Lily said.  ‘Why who’s going to stop me? Mum? Dad? McGonagall? Dumbledore? Good luck with that because I know two people who won't be doing it and the others will have a job when I’m not going back to school,’ Daisy spat.  ‘What?’ came a startling round of shouts from everyone.  ‘Not going back to school?’ Lily screeched standing up.  ‘Why should I? Why go back? I need a job, we both do, we’re on our own now and-’

Daisy was cut off as she was hoisted off of the bed and swung over Sirius’ shoulder. Four people watched aghast as he walked out of the bedroom Daisy kicking and screaming over his shoulder. 

‘Put me down Sirius Black!’ she screamed as she smashed her tiny fists into his back. ‘No,’ he said.  ‘Sirius maybe you should,’ Remus said as they reached the top of the stairs.  ‘Why? If she’s going to act like a child I’m going to treat her like one,’ Sirius said simply.  ‘I am not being a child!’ Daisy screamed though it was slightly muffled in Sirius’ back.  ‘Aren’t you?’ Lily said. Coming to stand beside the boys on the landing.  ‘Lily you can’t think this is a good idea,’ James said, perplexed. ‘Maybe not but we said she was coming with us either way and, to be honest, I don’t know what else I can do,’ Lily said honestly.  ‘I can hear this you know,’ Daisy grumbled.  ‘Well then maybe you’ll stop being so difficult,’ Lily argued.  ‘Right, Rem you come with me,’ Sirius said, ‘Pete you tidy up downstairs and James and Lily you get her stuff together and floo back after us.’

Without waiting for a response Sirius started walking downstairs. Daisy was now still but grumbling under her breath. Peter and Remus followed them whilst James and Lily headed into Daisy’s now empty room. 

Lily walked in and sat down on the bed with a heavy sigh whilst James lingered by the door unsure of what to do. After a moment he sat down beside her and said, ‘I’ve never had to clean my room without magic.’ ‘Lucky you,’ Lily said with a roll of her eyes though it did make her smile a little that he was trying to cheer her up.  ‘You know if you just tell me what to do I can pack everything…I mean if you don’t feel like it,’ James said, fiddling with the blanket underneath them.  ‘No it’s okay,’ Lily said, ‘just throw anything that looks like rubbish in the bin over there, take those plates downstairs and any clothes on the floor chuck in her wash basket…your mum wouldn’t mind doing a load of washing would she?’  ‘I don’t think my mum’s done a load of washing since like 1954,’ James chuckled, ‘though if I tell you our house elves will do it you’ll probably smack me right?’  ‘House-elves, of course, you have house-elves,’ Lily chuckled as if she were in on a joke he didn’t know about.  ‘I take it you’re laughing at me being a pureblood wanker?’  ‘No, actually,’ Lily said, ‘I was just laughing at the fact I didn’t even think about it. Of course, you do…I forget, being here…it can change how you think so quickly…it’s so  muggle. And I used to hate it. I used to long to get back to school. Back to magic. To stop mum nagging me or so I didn't have to hear Petunia boasting about her perfect husband. To even stop having to see my dad sitting in his pants in the living room after work.’  ‘If you want I can ask my dad to sit in his pants whenever you come around,’ James said, making Lily giggle before her face fell for a moment.  ‘I just really miss them,’ she whispered. James nodded and smiled sadly. Before he could say anything else Lily took a big breath and said, ‘Right, best get to it eh?’ 

Whilst James and Lily were sorting out everything the girls needed Sirius and Remus were standing downstairs waiting for Peter to come through from the kitchen so they could floo back.  ‘Will you put me down?’ Daisy sighed.  ‘Not until we’re at the Potters,’ Sirius said, ‘or at least in front of people you won’t wallop me in front of.’ ��I doubt that there’s anyone she wouldn’t,’ Remus chuckled as Peter walked in.  ‘I’ve washed all the cups and left them on the draining board, is that okay,’ Peter said.  ‘It’s fine,’ Daisy said, ‘I’ll sort them out in a couple of hours when I’m back home.’ 

 Sirius sighed as he ducked into the fireplace which was significantly smaller than the Potter’s grand one that was designed for the floo network. Remus and Peter tucked themselves around the pair of them. Fortunately, they only had to have a limb in to go with the network so as Remus threw a handful of powder into the unlit hearth and shouted their destination all four of them disappeared in a burst of green flames. 

When they reappeared they were in the large drawing-room of the Potter’s Mansion. One by one they stepped out but just as Sirius’ feet hit the wooden floor Euphemia burst in. 

‘What in Merlin’s name!?’ she said looking at the three boys.  ‘Sirius! Remus! Peter! What in god’s name is going on!? Where is James!? And who on earth have you got slung over your shoulder,’ she said as the three boys looked at her guiltily. Sirius slid Daisy off of his shoulder and allowed her to face Mrs Potter who was standing facing them with her hands on her hips, her face stony which was unlike her.  ‘Daisy?’ she said confused, ‘what are you doing here? James said, oh my you look awful. Not that I mean that in a bad way sweetheart it’s just,’ Thankfully Daisy didn't have to endure any more reviews of her appearance as the fire glowed green again and James and Lily came through the floo network laden with bags and trunks.  ‘James!’ Euphemia squawked.  ‘Mum before you say anything-’ James started but Euphemia merely held up a thin finger silencing him. James fell silent immediately and dropped his gaze to the ground as did everyone else. Not even Daisy risked opposing a mother when she was in chastising mode.  ‘Right,’ Euphemia started her eyes narrowed as she watched Lily, not knowing who she was, but she didn't say anything and instead started to turn around her piercing faze on each of them in turn, ‘this is what is going to happen. Your friends are going to take a seat here and you, your father and I are going to speak in his office. I’ll deal with the rest of you later.’

Remus, Sirius and Peter dropped obediently into chairs followed by a sulking Daisy and then Lily who seemed out of place as she dropped down on the sofa next to Peter. James followed his mother out of the drawing-room leaving a solemn silence in the air. 

The quiet lingered for a few minutes. Remus and Lily exchanged a few nervous glances whilst Peter took to counting the tiles around the fireplace. Daisy refused to look at anyone and instead stared at the fire which was now bristling yellow flames instead of the green they had come through. Sirius couldn't stop glancing at her. His heartfelt heavy with empathy and also a little guilt at bringing her here against her will. In his head, he knew he was doing the right thing. Daisy wouldn't give up on school, she was just angry, understandably so, but he still felt a twinge every time he thought about the alternative. 

After a few moments Remus decided to break the tension but before he could the door opened and in bustled a house-elf, carrying a tray laden with a teapot and cups as well as a mountain of biscuits.  ‘Excuse me, friends of Master James and Master Sirius…Mistress Potter has asked that I bring you some tea,’ the house-elf squeaked.  ‘Thank you, Bonney,’ Remus said as the elf put the tray on the coffee table. Once it was down she looked relieved. Lily was surprised such a small creature could withstand the weight of the tray.  ‘Would you like me to pour, sir?’ Bonney said, her skinny hand reaching for the pot.  ‘No, it’s alright,’ Sirius said. And without further ado, Bonney nodded and scuttled out of the room in silence. ‘Tea?’ Remus asked, playing mum as he had at the Evans’.  ‘Yeah because that will solve everything,’ Daisy scoffed. If this hurt Remus’ feelings he didn’t let it show which riled Daisy who was now looking between the gang. Remus started to pour five cups of tea, ignoring Daisy’s comment.  As he did the door opened again and all three Potter’s reappeared. James looked less guilty than he had done before though there was still an air of guilt about him. 

‘Boys,’ his mother said kindly, ‘would you please take the girls' luggage to their room.’ ‘Mrs Potter,’ Lily started but Euphemia didn't let her speak.  ‘Now boys,’ she said, causing all four of them to leap into action gathering bags and trunks from where they had been left and fleeing the room. As they left Euphemia and Fleamont came into the room and sat opposite the girls. Lily glanced at them and then her sister who was sitting back in her seat now, sulking but quiet. Not even she would disrespect someone in their own home.  ‘Now,’ Euphemia started, waving her wand causing the milk and sugar to start pouring themselves into a cup on the tray, ‘James has told us your situation and Fleamont and I would like to offer you our deepest condolences.’ ‘Yes, quite, such dreadful news,’ Fleamont said.  ‘And why we quite understand your upset, Fleamont and I are quite worried about what James has told us.’ ‘James had no right in telling you anything,’ Daisy mumbled, making Lily blush bright red.  ‘What my sister means to say is….well, we appreciate your sympathies but there’s a lot we’re going through as you can imagine,’ Lily said.  ‘Which is why we want to help,’ Fleamont said.  ‘How?’ Lily said dubiously. ‘Well, we understand that you want to remain in your home and you have quite the right to do so. But as I understand it the wizarding world would be all the poorer if either of you left school at this late stage,’ Euphemia said. Daisy looked up now, seemingly embarrassed at the praise from her friend's mother.  ‘We have no intention of leaving school right Dais?’ Lily said pointedly at her sister who merely shrugged.  ‘I doubt that either of you wants to but of course, we understand that keeping your family home is important to you. All the more so since your parents are unfortunately no longer here,’ Euphemia said.  ‘Which is why-’ Fleamont added. ‘Which is why we would like to make you an offer,’ Euphemia said.  ‘We'll buy your house,’ Fleamont said as if it was the most casual remark in the world. ‘What?!’ the twins said in unison.  ‘I don’t understand,’ Lily said.  ‘We would like to buy your house.’ ‘No!’ Daisy said rather loudly, earning her a dig in the ribs from her sister’s elbow, ‘Lil it’s our  home!’  'Oh, Daisy my dear, we don't want to keep your home sweetheart,’ Euphemia said with sadness in her eyes.  ‘No, no,’ Fleamont added as he took a sip of his tea, ‘we merely wish to buy it off of you, well your older sister who I understand owns it currently with you being underage?’  ‘That’s right,’ Lily grumbled.  ‘What we propose is that we buy your house from your sister. She and her husband are placated with the money, which we will insist you get a cut of and you are free to live in the house as you wish…’ ‘That sounds amazing,’ Lily said, ‘but it really is too big of a gesture we couldn't.’ ‘Of course we can!’ Daisy said, realising what their offer meant.  ‘Well that’s settled,’ Fleamont said but his wife cleared her throat and looked at him causing him to sit up in his chair a little straighter and say, ‘yes, well we do have some conditions, of course.’ ‘Like what?’ Lily said nervously.  ‘You both stay in school until the end of your final year,’ Euphemia said. The twins shared a look as she continued, ‘now we don’t expect you to progress into anything afterwards if you decide that it is not for you. But we would rather you have a complete education behind you should you change your mind. Once you finish school the home will be signed over to you to do so as you please.’ ‘Are you sure?’ Lily said, biting her lip.  ‘One hundred percent,’ Euphemia said earnestly. The twins looked at one another and then back at the Potters.

 ‘Why are you doing all this?’ Daisy said. ‘Because you’re family,’ Euphemia said, ‘and we take care of our family.’ ‘But we’re just James’ friends,’ Lily said. ‘Yeah and Lily doesn't even like him half the time,’ Daisy chuckled for the first time in what felt like a year.  ‘That may be,’ Fleamont chuckled, ‘but our son, those boys mean the world to us. And in turn, so do you.’ ‘So, do we have a deal?’ Euphemia asked. Lily glanced at her sister who nodded and said, ‘It’s a deal.’

dorcas is no stranger to the spotlight. her muggle father had been in 8 movies by the time she got her hogwarts letter

going from having her whole life out there for the world to digest to having the bigest of secrets was a shock to dorcas, but it was nothing compared to the shock of finding out magic was real.

growing up she didn’t exhibit magic the way most of her hogwarts friends did. She could always find the perfect sunbeam, her parents seemed to always know what she was feeling. it was the subtle things.
