2021 CGI King Grayskull inspiration
CGI King Grayskull is a interesting character, perhaps the most interesting version (due to being both a hero and villain, and it making sense), and he has a number of inspirations both in MOTU sources and those outside it.
Out of versions of King Grayskull, the DC comics one seems to have the most influence (which has sense Rob David large part in making both), were several characters stated King Grayskull was not as noble as it seemed. The issue being though, the two people stating it were not really reliable sources - Hordak and King Hiss (impersonating/wearing the skin of Adi, him doing it to persuade Saryn and other Gar to kill Grayskull).
Still, this caused He-Ro to have given a way disproportionate punishment, seemingly committing genocide against the Gar, and declaring them legal pariahs and exiles, even striping them from the ability to name themselves.
Yes, the Gar were also lead to commit horrible acts when lead/corrupted by King Hiss (impersonating Adi), but that's not a rational reaction, or proportional punishment.
About He-Ro, CGI King Grayskull, in many ways resembles an older He-Ro - he is a dark haired man in golden armor, wielding both the Sword of Power and a magic staff (as Grayskull stated he used the Havoc Staff even before infusing it with Havoc, making me think it's meant to be a corrupted version of He-Ro's staff, even resembling it in it's uncorrupted/dormant and semi-dormant form), as well as being both a warrior and sorcerer.
Making me think he is a composite character of He-Ro and King Grayskull, very probably taking inspiration from the 200X comics which were to do the same (ie revealing King Grayskull is an older He-Ro).
And with 200x MOTU, King Grayskull's helmet is also based on the one Randor wore as a captain in the 2002 cartoon, and as a prince during war in MOTUC comics:
Outside of MOTU, King Grayskull also is quite similar to Odin in Norse/Germanic mythology, and Marvel comics (and their adaptations):
Odin also has darker aspects, both in Marvel - seen as for example in Thor: Ragnarok, that Odin was a genocidal war criminal far in past. Or in myths that Odin was willingly sacrifice much and many, to give gods and humans a chance to survive Ragnarok, and in general despite having empathetic traits in myths, was heavily pragmatic.
Odin's darker aspects are even visible in some of his names - Ginnarr (Deciever), Yggr (Terrible One), Draugadróttinn (Lord of the Undead), as well as his role as a god of death and dead (which is often overlooked).
Curiously King Grayskull also resembles gbagok's partly Odin-based semi-fan character, the All-Father (leader of the Ancients and brother to Nordor/Horde Prime):
Semi, as he is based on the (seeming) leader Magic Kings from ancient Eternia, whose spirits now inhabit the Anti-World, and who were implied to be the Ancients. These characters are from the German He-Man/MOTU comics.
It also does seem his helmet did inspire Randor's in the 2002 cartoon.
[EDIT: As clarified by @toonjukka, while designs of Randor's and the leading Magic King, are unrelated - as German comics only became available online in 2004, years after the production of the 2002 series pilot "The Beginning"]
Another Golden Armored Demigod could inspire CGI King Grayskull - the Emperor of Mankind of Warhammer 40k:
Like the Emperor of Mankind, King Grayskull is a well-intentioned extremist, who hypocritical used the power of what he fought against (ie King Grayskull proto-Havoc of the Snake Men; the Emperor either made a deal with the Chaos Gods for more knowledge and/or power, in order to arm himself against them, and broke it, or stole their knowlege and power). The Emperor though was not overtaken by Chaos.
Both also ended up as skeletons guarded by their most loyal servants (and some thinking/hoping he would come back), and both are remembered as saintly, when in fact they weren't, and their message was misunderstood.
(Well, King Grayskull became a "bone-head" even before death...)

Swift Wind Master form: by Hero central:27/1/23:
Hi all here’s Swift Winds master form for my future crossover with He-Man cgi and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. I decided for this design to reference Swift Winds look from the classic series with the reboot mixed in. Plus I gave him similar wings to Teela’s master form.
In other news I recently purchased the art of book for the He-Man reboot series and let’s just say some of its contents has granted me insight into what’s to come for season 4, more than I realised. But I won’t say what for no spoiler reasons.
For now a question who’s the next She-Ra character for a master form look? Wait and see.👍👍

For those of you, who watch the CGI He-Man show, you might remember that the 3rd season ended with a cliffhanger, with Evil-Lyn meeting Hordak, and he was voiced by Kevin Conroy.
But now that Kevin Conroy sadly passed away, it makes me wonder what will happen to the CGI He-Man show?
- Will they find a new voice for Hordak?
- Or will the show get cancelled altogether?
Both options are very possible. The show might get cancelled, because not many people know about it, and there was only one Kevin Conroy.
But I’m hoping that the show will continue, and they will find a new voice actor for Hordak. Personally, I’d pick Diedrich Bader.

I feel the biggest problem I have with CGI He-man is that it's trying to be a serialized cartoon and a Saturday morning cartoon at the same time like the last three TMNT shows, but falls short due to how short each season was.
I'm usually not one for stretching out a story ,but this show DEFINITELY could've had more stand alone adventures that further developed the main characters and their interactions with each other. .
To clarify though, I don't blame the writers for this,as the show as a whole felt a LITTLE rushed, not to mention Mattel cheaped out on the animation budget in season 1 with the excessive transformation and signature move sequences.
Hell, their budget was so tight they couldn't even afford to animate characters making bite marks in food in season 1. DOUBLE HELL, I don't think any character ate ANYTHING in seasons 2 & 3, if you can't afford to animate it, don't show it I guess!
Hoping Mattel loosens their belt next season to allow this series to reach it's full potential.

My Thoughts On: He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe (2021) Season 3 (Spoiler Free)
Hey I just found out that there was a third season and no one told me about it up until a few days ago. I’ve been on a He-Man binge lately ever since I watched my guilty pleasure movie, Masters Of The Universe (1987), and found out the one scrub from Gloryhammer left the band and started a solo career. Check this shit out, it’s not that bad; my only criticism is that his vocals still feels like it’s burried.
Anyways, about Season 3, once again I’m talkin outta my ass with these reviews like usaul, so if I had to make it short; I enjoyed it a lot. Last season I criticized that the goofy moments were really goofy but at least still took the dyer situation very seriously especially the heel turn near the end. This season kept that serious tone from the end of season 2 and kept it going, with enough levity to give you a breather. There’s one moment with Orko actually gave me good chuckle, and kinda wish it lasted a bit longer.
I will say the character development has gone better too. While I’ve said that the show was kinda light in terms of character development, I mean I was comparing it to the 2018 She-Ra where that show was very character driven. However because He-Man and his funky bunch were in a very shitty situation to begin with, they were smart enough to take it seriously and grow a little more. There’s a small heel turn in the middle with one of the main characters that was pretty interesting too. Even some of the minor characters changed for the better compared to how they were in Season 2.
Overall, I hope there’s gonna be a Season 4. Although the new heel’s gonna get recasted; Rest In Peace, Kevin Conroy.
