something so incredibly domestic to me about billy and steve just going on a walk together
steve turning up at the hargrove’s during winter break while neil and susan are at work and max is at the arcade. steve knows billy is at home because they talk now. they’re friends. sort of. so steve knocks on the door. rings the bell twice. tells billy to c’mon because he wants to go for a walk.
and billy’s just staring at steve like he’s lost his mind. ‘cause billy plays basketball, sure. billy lifts weights. billy swims. billy surfs. or did at least did. billy does, like, everything but billy doesn’t do wintery walks.
tells steve exactly that.
steve doesn’t take no for an answer, though. billy tells him he doesn’t have a winter coat and steve holds up the extra one he’s got in this big bag beside him and- billy doesn’t know how he didn’t notice it before. totally wasn’t too distracted by the way steve’s talking, face lit up and cheeks flushed from the cold.
billy comes up with a few more excuses but steve’s stubborn. billy knows from experience so he gives in. lets steve wrap him up in this huge coat, bitching and swearing the entire time. tells steve he’s gonna freeze his balls off and it’s gonna be all steve’s fault.
they leave eventually, though. steve grinning at billy the entire time, stupid dopey look on his face and billy trying to look at the trees instead. at the leaves. at literally everything except steve.
but steve’s looking at him. keeps sneaking glances because he’s got billy hargrove beside him, nose pink and eyes wide as he looks up at a flock of birds that just scattered. because billy’s got a hat on, pulled down to his eyebrows and a scarf that he’s pretty much buried the lower half of his face in.
because billy’s, like, cute. or whatever.
so they walk. and they talk. leaves crunching and birds chirping. sun flitting in through the trees. maybe billy lights steve’s cigarette, maybe they carve their names somewhere, maybe they kiss about it .. who knows !

now my question to the jury is- why is kunikida so often made to be this overly obsessive idealist who’s go-to emotion is angst related?!? like we are talking about the man who has one of the galaxies largest guilt complex and ideals or otherwise is really just out here doing his best as he goes along?!?!
like yes he has his moments of annoyance but i think that so much of that is rooted in the internal battle raging on like 24/7 because of his ideals-
like this man has been passed off as being naive when he actually maintains a deeper understanding/appreciation of the world bc despite how awful it has been to him time and time again he remains loyal to his ideals and is willing to do whatever it takes to see they are fulfilled to the best of their abilities- like hello?!?!
sorry sorry i’ll get off my soap box now

❝ You’ve got no where else to run. ❞
It was rare for the Chimera to venture far from its safe place but food was becoming harder and harder to get, so occasionally early in the morning or late into the evening the chimera dared to venture out. Usually to hunt but had come to learn that some actually had things that could be eaten so had begun to learn how to sneakily grab something before slipping back to the shadows.
It was just the smallest amount no one would have missed it and nearly got away with it to if someone hadn’t caught sight of it.
The moment they’d caught sight of that all to familiar uniform the Chimera made off like a shot bolting down the nearby alley, knowing that a Blue Coat meant only one thing. Pain.
Down the alley it managed to keep a good distance but for how long? The Chimera was far stronger, faster, had better endurance then most people but not even it could run forever.
“You’ve got nowhere else to run.”
Swiftly as it reached the end of the alley the Blue Coat spoke, causing the Chimera to take pause reptilian eyes staring back towards them before it scrambled up the wall toward the roof, a long tail swishing from beneath ragged clothing. Inhuman hands of only three fingers scraping at the stone and brick of the wall as it clambered up with some mild difficulty.
Exhaling the Chimera dropped hoping for a brief respite, cautiously peering over the edge watching the Blue Coat to see what they’d do.
If they continued their pursuit they’d soon find out how dangerous a cornered animal could be.
