the babbit masterpost
HELLO welcome to the Babbit's Blog masterpost!!! On this post you'll find some fun facts about yours allegedly (me <33), some ref's for my different 'sona's, and a couple links to my fics and whatnot! Are you ready? No?? Excellent neither am i let's do this
Meet the Babbits!: the self-inserts/personas
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the first ref is for my general/most commonly used persona, Babbit! They aren't really an anthro/furry as much as they are a humanoid with the head of a rabbit. I like to think of this one as the 'me' that's in my head- the purest form of my thoughts and feelings, but not the solid real-life me. The second ref is my self-insert persona, Rabbit, the one i picture using most often when i'm reading a fic or imagining a self-insert scenario lol. This one is like the me that people see and meet and speak to in real actual life, if that makes sense. It's the way I come across to people and all of the things I wish I could iron out of my crumpled up real-self <3 The third is a much more specific 'sona, Hazel, who started off as a FNaF:SB animatronic self-insert. She does have a backstory and lore now, which i think makes her more of an OC than a self-insert, but a lot of her is still me and a lot of what she experiences in her backstory is from my life/instills the same feelings that were taken away from things that happened to me, so I think she kinda counts enough to put a ref for her here sdkjfsdhfj (Why the different names?: makes things a little easier, and they hold meaning to me symbolically, I guess!)
Content!: Here's a short list of my various fics that will get updated as I create more! (it was, in reality, not fine.): FNaF Sun/Moon x Reader fanfic, gender neutral, for general audiences, fluff-fest, idiots to lovers "You're the new tech/repairman at the Fazbear Mega Pizzaplex, unfortunately. Your first task? To make the Daycare Attendant into two separate animatronics. It's an amazing opportunity, really, and there is nothing you love more than getting a chance to really work with such tech! The only bad part is that you don't know how to tell anyone that you just might be in over your head. (You are extremely in over your head.)" After Everything Was Fixed (but you were still broken): AU FNaF Sun/Moon x (Animatronic) Reader, gender neutral, read with caution, angst, harm to sentient robots, traumatized main character, hurt/comfort slow burn, romance slow burn "The virus was gone. Everyone was fixed. You had been put back together. It's a time for a new beginning, to do things right this time, to wash away the past and paint a better future. Their memories of the infection had- mercifully- been taken away from them. Yours had not. He doesn't understand why you try to avoid him. Even if you could tell him, you're not sure you would. You want to be his friend, but it's difficult; every time you see him, you remember the hundreds of times he killed you." A fic where you are a repairman-themed STAFFbot, taking place post-virus. In the past, Moon, infected by the virus, took delight in attacking and dismantling the reader during the night. Now, in the present, you find yourself burdened by the memories of the past while everyone around you has no recollection of the events. It gets more complicated as Sun and Moon, both now cleared of the virus, grow curious of you. This fic will follow a series of arcs, presently on arc one. For anyone curious, feel free to send an ask about the arcs in 'After Everything Was Fixed'! The Sun, the Moon, and the Blazing Comet (title subject to change): AU FNaF Sun/Moon/Eclipse x Reader, gender neutral, teen and up audiences, travel/journey, betrayal, hurt/comfort slowburn, reconciling, themes of breaking the mold, found family (TBA) Hold My Broken Hands (title subject to change): AU FNaF Sun/Moon x Reader, gender neutral, mature audiences, dark romance, dark comedy, severe bodily harm, mutilation, murder, obsessive behavior, possessive behavior, lovesick (TBA)
My AU's!: i'm going to make a Babbit-AUs-Masterpost and then put the link here i swear, i just have so many im sorry jdfhsjdfhs (like more than twenty)
Fandoms!: I enjoy, have been in, made or make content for: Pokemon Undertale FNaF Creepypasta (YEAH I KNOW LET ME LIVE OKAY) My Little Pony (I KNOW OKAY LEAVE ME ALONE) Steven Universe Star Trek Warrior Cats i'm sure theres more but i just forgot everything i have ever liked wheeeeeze
Whomst the hell?: HI I'm Rabbit! Or Bones! Or Babbit! Or Avarice/Ava, if you want to go for a more legitimate-sounding name. I'm 24 years old, prefer to use they/them pronouns, and so, so incredibly ace. I've been drawing as long as I've had the ability to hold a pen, writing since I was in grade school, and being a plague to the ones around me since the beginning of time! If you've seen my art, its probably from the absolute mountain of fluffy-wuffy love-dovey (y/n) x Sundrop/Moondrop/Eclipse doodles I've been sharing for several years now sdfjhsdj. If you've heard of my fics, it was probably the one I made just for fun that's now turned into an actual fanfiction that I enjoy writing, the silly-lovey-fluff incarnate (it was, in reality, not fine.) !
Likes n Dislikes!: I'm a sucker for sap, fluff, and lots and lots of love-dovey bullshit! I also like stories about finding oneself and monsters being befriended or loved. I like space, aliens, robots, the odd and strange, injecting humanity into things not human, monsters, creatures, animals, the fae, concepts of spirits and karma and the afterlife, and more! I dislike 'fanservice', most anime tbh LOL it's not personal I just don't enjoy it im srry, FLY BABIES i know they have an actual name but i hate that word too pls just dont i will scream, sexually aggressive/forceful content/characters, being made to feel small, dumb, or trapped,
Other!: I have a pretty high gross-out tolerance! I also have a pretty high 'wow that's messed up huh' tolerance, in that sometimes I will just say stuff that's super grim or dark or messed up and not realize it lmao. I am full of random facts and anecdotes, especially weird or gross ones! sometimes i get on tangents that can go for actual hours so pls forgive that lol
WARNINGS: THIS BLOG MAY FEATURE CONTENT BASED ON/RELATED TO THEMES OF GUILT, CHILDHOOD LOSS, GRIEF, SELF HATRED, DISCONNECTION FROM REALITY/SELF, TRAUMA, AND SEVERE DEPRESSION/ANXIETY. YES I AM GETTING HELP. YES I AM OKAY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.

Personal Halloween Character Design Challenge - Slashertown
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Time to reveal what I've been doing for Halloween/Spooktober!
Basically a personal character design challenge, inspired by my Tiger vs Slasher Villain post!
The gist is that it's set in a town that's basically a magnet for various kinds of horror villain archetypes, ESPECIALLY Slashers... hence its Name.
The Leads: The main protags of the challenge/setting.
Linda Rivera - A young woman of Spanish-American descent, known equally for both her stubborness and her empathy, and a strong, strong survival instinct. She's the been the "Final Girl" for most of her life, be it as a survivor of a literal cult war when she was a kid to Prom night when she was a teen. She cosplays and paints minis for a living, and is genuinely curious about what's REALLY going on in Slashertown.
Rodney "The Ripper" Rackham. Filling in for the unstoppable masked slasher villain ala Jason and Michael Myers, Rodney was once just a humble shop student with an interest in metallurgy and blacksmithing, until one day a trip to the woods went terribly wrong. For years he was the town's most famous slasher, targeting repairshops and others indiscriminately... nowadays he's more famous for another thing -killing other slashers.
Animal Companions: Filling in for the Animal guide/voice of wisdom, ala Coraline
Peggy Thirteen is Linda's cat. A crafty and wiley critter than seems to know just about every nook and cranny in town. Unusually intelligent for a cat, and remarkably obedient when Linda says to "stay put". There's more to her than meets the eye, as shown with her smug face.
Maharaja is the town celebrity Tiger, having been the one to save Linda from a slasher known as "Henry the Hatchet" a few years ago. Unbelievably strong, and much like Peggy, seems to be far more intelligent than what a big cat should be. Linda certainly suspects something.
Cannibal Archetypes: Self explanatory
Marlowe Magritte: Filling in for the Hannibal Lecter side of the cannibal villain, with a dash of Slowik from The Menu, he's the owner of the most famous restaurant in town. His food is to die for, as certain patrons disappeared in his business, just infrequent enough that no one suspects anything. Sure, while having liver with a nice chianti is nice, what he's REALLY after are memories and experiences. THAT to him, is what makes a true experience.
Merle "The Man Ogre" Mason: The Hills have Eyes meets Leatherface, Merle was a man exposed to chemicals during the end of World War 2 and became a mutant... THEN the magics of the town turned him into a cannibalistic monster, lurking about the hills just outside of town. Suprisingly articulate despite his looks!
Lethal Ladies: Because one can never go wrong with more female slasher villains!
Heather Berry lost her mind when she couldn't be Queen of High School Land, and thus took it out on some students, before mysteriously dissapearing after a fight with eternal Final Girl Linda. Now she's back, as Haley Babbit, successful business women with great PR... but beneath the facade, is still the same bloodthirsty Heather!
Liv Malone - SHE FOLLOWS. Slowly. Very slowly. Sure, she's completely unrelenting in her need to dispatch someone, but man oh-man is she SLOW. A simple shove is usually all that's needed to stop her from following you.
Killer Clowns: And this time, they're a family!
Marco the Clown and Minnie the Mime are a brother sister team that only wants to entertain you with their (occasionally lethal) shows! Please laugh at Marco's jokes and take Minnie's Art seriously, they get uspet if you don't!
Jethro the Jester is their grandfather, and leader of the group, simply known as The Troupe. One of the most powerful entities in town, his shows and acts seem to defy physics itself, and he'll always make sure that you leave the show a new person!
Terrible Toys: Three different flavors of violent toy!
Tricky the Ragdoll - Guardian of all children in town, much like Gamera, just one that's VERY open to lethal force when he sees a kid in trouble. Is actually quite helpful to them, no strings (ha!) attatched, offering blankets, food and subtly guiding kids to reunite with their parents if they ever get lost.
Mrs. Olivia - An overpossessive ghost of a woman from the 40s stuck in a porcelain doll. She'll do ANYTHING to protect her "poppets". ANYTHING. She is awoken whenever someone cleans up her toy body.
The Immolator - The most overtly Chucky-like of the bunch, with a dash of Small Soldiers. A psychotic, misanthropic inmate that winded up possessing the toy of a 90s action figure, he'll be more than happy to murder any meatbags in his sights... so long as he has batteries. The REAL danger is that, when dormant, he can imitate ANY voice possible, subtly suggesting you to really, REALLY give him those batteries!
Oceanic Killers: Because you gotta have a Jaws reference!
Big Bertha and Finn are a Great White Shark and Dolphin duo, that work together to un-alive silly and stupid hairless apes. Big Bertha LOVES the taste of humans, and would go out of her way to find 'em, but usually it's Finn that calls the shots. Any human that bothers him or makes fun of him, either gets a taste of his rostrum, or he sends Bertha to do the dirty work.
Primeval Horrors: Because everything's better with dinosaurs!
The Great One and his Flock: Combining both Jurassic Park and Hitchcock's the Birds, the Great One is a colossal, fifteen ton Tyrannosaurus rex, and is the oldest entity in town, and by far one of the most powerful. So powerful, that no slasher dares to enter his territory (which is the Slashertown Museum of Natural History). The birds of Slashertown are his eyes and ears, agents of his will, and those that mess with 'em don't tend to live to see the next sunrise. It's also a foolish thing to lay a hand on his skeleton, as the paleontologists who worship him like a god like to remind visitors. All those that have done so, either disappear (with the only remains being bloodied claw marks) or become skeletons stripped down to the bone.

❦ 𝕋𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕃𝕠𝕠𝕡 𝕋𝕙𝕖𝕠𝕣𝕪 ❦
Tumblr media
Many have been speculating about a possible time loop for a long time- some even since the game’s release, now I’m sure that more than ever we may finally have more proof of this being possible with the surprising announcements regarding the Savanaclaw Chapter story from the TWST Manga.
Disclaimer: This post is pure theory, please take all of this with a grain of salt. This theory is not spoiler free!!
𝕋𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝔾𝕠𝕖𝕤 𝕆𝕟 𝕃𝕚𝕜𝕖 𝔸 𝕎𝕙𝕖𝕖𝕝...
When I think about time, one line always sticks out to me:
“Time is like a wheel. Turning and turning - never stopping. And the woods are the center; the hub of the wheel. It began the first week of summer, a strange and breathless time when accident, or fate, bring lives together. When people are led to do things, they've never done before. On this summer's day, not so very long ago, the wheel set lives in motion in mysterious ways.” - Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit
Time is like a wheel, turning and turning, one small event can set the wheel spiraling- setting lives in motion in mysterious ways. How does this fall into a Time Loop? Simple, let’s think of it like this based on what we know/have… In the first TWST Manga, we meet Yuuken and complete the entire Heartslabyul chapter with him as the MC- but the question remains, what happened to Yuuken? Where is Yuuken? With the shocking introduction to a female Yuu (Yuuka), it begs the question that what if each chapter of the manga is a new “Yuu” because there is a time loop or something where if something happens and that Yuu fails, the clock resets and a new Yuu is summoned? Hence why we now have a fem!Yuu.
Something happened in the other timeline… Yuuken failed somewhere and the clock reset, the wheel stopped and rewinded to start anew- with a new Yuu, a new start with the same beginning, the arrival of the carriage. With every Yuu, they follow the same story, their personal experiences will of course vary- but the plot line will be the same with the occasional differences from the last. Meaning that whenever something happens and the previous Yuu once the end draws near and is unable to successfully complete their purpose, the clock resets and all is back to how it was before- meaning only Crowley, who is likely the one responsible, knows our truth but is playing dumb… pretending to have not a clue as to who we are.
Probably why Crowley has not “found” a way to send us home yet… Probably why he was never around for the other Overblots- why he TRULY left us behind on Christmas holiday, because he knew. He bloody knew…
There’s a saying, “history always repeats itself”, in this time loop theory that may be literal. There will be one Yuu that is successful in their mission- whatever it may be. At the beginning of the game, Crowley mentions that he is running out of time, and time is indeed precious- once gone there is no going back… or is there? With the Time Loop Theory reversal of time and changing the course of events is going to change an outcome or all outcomes- one need only do their task properly and the course of events can get altered entirely. Crowley, at the beginning of the game, was summoning another Yuu before reversing the clock, meaning the previous had failed and it is up to the next to try and alter the course of time entirely before time runs out…
Tumblr media
𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝔼𝕧𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕤…?
Some of you may be aware that the Twisted Wonderland events seem to overlap or go out of order, birthday events too- no one seems to age, no one seems to suspect anything. Each birthday card seems to be its own stand alone story with no connection to the previous year’s birthday card, is this because there is a time loop? More than likely- if anything, I’d bet it is spot on.
The recent Masquerade event on JP takes place on Halloween- coincidentally we had a Halloween event that played off the previous meaning that Scary Monsters and Endless Halloween were the same timeline while Masquerade is another. In this year’s event there was no mention whatsoever of the Halloween event, no mentions of a Halloween party with the ghosts, nothing! It was as if it never happened- meaning it was from a different time with a different Yuu.
If I’m correct, this was brought up by Yana one time in one of the TWST fan books Disney released- correct me if I’m wrong of course.
Tumblr media
𝕊𝕚𝕝𝕧𝕖𝕣...
This may come to a surprise to some of you but what if Silver may ACTUALLY know us- well, a previous us?
Tumblr media
“It’s strange… I feel like I’ve met you somewhere before…”
We all interpreted this like he was quoting “Once Upon a Dream”, which it more than likely is, but with a twist (pun intended)- the twist being that Silver’s dreams us are really memories of a previous Yuu. Meaning that while the clock reset for everyone else, he was connected through a dream, and who better to have met someone through a dream than Silver?
Silver has the unique ability to fall asleep wherever and whenever, he has plenty of experience dreaming and has visited the dream realm more than his peers so if anyone would have a met the previous Yuu through a dream it was Silver through a memory embedded into his core- probably why he thinks the current Yuu (us) would be wonderful with a sword, because he had a feeling, he saw it in a dream- a memory.
ℂ𝕠𝕟𝕔𝕝𝕦𝕤𝕚𝕠𝕟…
As I mentioned earlier, this is merely a theory and these thoughts of mine might not all be accurate to the story- these thoughts are just what I came up with through piecing together different theories and bits and pieces of the story.
Please let me know your thoughts, travelers! I’d love to have a healthy discussion about this! ♡︎
Thank you,

Is the short and fat mouse and the tall and skinny mouse based on a real duo or something? I remember that they were cats in a different short, so I’m wondering if they were a popular parody or if they’re original. My only experience with them is through the Mel Yell polls and I find them kind of annoying, and I am utterly dismayed that there is another film featuring them (this ofc is just my opinion)
you are correct in that theyre caricatures of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello! they were a wildly popular comedic duo in the ‘40s
Tumblr media
they formally kickstarted their career on radio with The Abott and Costello Show and eventually starred in a bunch of films together. i actually watched Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein for the first time on Halloween, and while i wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for a sincerely titillating display of filmmaking, it was fun! but i also love cheesy B movies and annoying over the top antics that they specialized in HAHA. it made me appreciate just how dead accurate Tedd Pierce’s Abbott impression is, because he sounds JUST like him. it’s genuinely unnerving and all i could think of
the model sheets for A Tale of Two Kitties even has their cut our heads on it which i love HAHA
Tumblr media
i can definitely see it not being for everyone! especially in isolating these polls where it’s yell after yell after yell HAHA. but to my recollection A Tale of Two Kitties, A Tale of Two Mice and The Mouse-Merized Cat are the only shorts to feature “Babbit and Catstello”; a handful of shorts make references to some of their catchphrases, but usually it’s Lou Costello’s catchphrase of “i’m a baaaaad boy”

Twilight Aquarium is a collaborative story contributed to by many members of the Space Ace Discord server, some of which are mods on this blog (Umbreon, Sideswipe, Enigma, Doodles/Chaos, and Sparky). It started off as a silly spinoff story to Babbit’s selkie reader au, but turned into it’s own thing entirely.

BREAKING THE GIRLS- 2012 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A film of two halves....
The first half is genuinely great.
Its about two college students, (Sara and Alex) meeting and falling fast into a horny relationship. Was really enjoying it.
The second half plays out like one of the straight to dvd sequels to "wild things".
Although i still enjoyed it to a degree, was no where near as good as the first half and dont think its the direction the movie should have gone in. Alex suggests they kill each others enemies. A hitchcock type premise, executed in a bizzare manner. Twist after twist. Some bad acting and a bit of confusion.
But overall, still an entertaining film i enjoyed.
Directed by Jamie Babbit.

Roald Dahl’s Matilda Reading List:
A full master-list of literature between film and novel of every book Matilda enjoy’s reading. I will be separating these into two-sections. Books I own and don’t own.
I am making this list for two reasons. One: for my own future book shopping reference. Two: for anyone else who would like the same.
Books I own:
Babbit -Sinclair Lewis //
Moby Dick -Herman Melville //
The Wind & The Willows -Ernest Shepherd //
Animal Farm -George Orwell //
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer -Mark Twain //
The Three Musketeers -Alexandre Dumas //
Ivanhoe -Walter Scott //
Lorna Doone -R.D Blamore //
The Secret Garden -Frances H. Burnett //
The Grapes of Wrath -John Steinbeck //
Shakespeare’s Sonnets //
Catcher In The Rye -J.D. Salinger //
The Invisible Man -H.G. Wells //
Tess of the D’Urbervilles -Thomas Hardy //
Jane Eyre -Charlotte Bronte //
Great Expectations, The Pickwick Papers, Nicholas Nickleby -Charles Dickens //
Pride and Prejudice -Jane Austen //

Books I don’t own:
Peter Pan - J.M Barrie
The Red Pony -John Steinbeck
Just So Stories -Rudyard Kipling
Lord Jim -Joseph Conrad
The Good Companions -J.B. Priestley
Gone to Earth -Mary Webb
Kim -Rudyard Kipling
Brighton Rock -Graham Greene
From Here To Eternity -James Jones
Mary Poppins -P.L Travers
In Country Sleep -Dylan Thomas
*notes: I’ve only included literary works I could coherently make out without driving myself too crazy. In the novel, Matilda expresses that A Secret Garden is her favorite book; however, in the film it is Charles Dickens (mispronounced Darls Chickens for legal reasons) who is her first favorite adult author. Her first read adult book is Great Expectations.
Matilda is reading King Arthur when her father storms into her bedroom and begins yelling at her. This is not the only time he yells at her for reading. He also, gets into a nasty dispute over his own daughter’s age as he can’t be bothered to remember when she was born.
This leads to the events when she will meet Mrs. Honey for the first time as her father hopes to send her off to a school operated by an abusive principle.
Mrs. Honey (a teacher) also during the film tells Matilda one of her favorite author’s is Charles Dickens and at one point gifts her with a book called The Wind & The Willows in her biological parent’s home, as an act of solidarity and change that is eluded to. We learn Mrs. Honey is not only a kind person, and a book worm just like Matilda, but a survivor of abuse herself.
Matilda’s very last book read in the film is to her teacher and adoptive mother Mrs. Honey, who eventually takes over the school as the new principle. The book Matilda reads to her new parent is Moby Dick, which is also something her biological father mocked and yelled at her previously for reading.

Entrapta, She-Ra, and Autistic Representation
Tumblr media
When people think of autism, Raymond Babbit in Rain Man, Christian Wolff in The Accountant, or Sheldon in Big Bang Theory, may come to mind. These negative stereotypes persist in popular culture despite increased positive representation for autistic characters. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (SPOP) is different.
While the series rightfully received accolades for its LGBTQ+ representation, there is another aspect of the show: positive autistic representation. Entrapta (voiced by Christine Woods), a curious and sensitive hacker, scientist, and “geeky princess,” is a well-written autistic character. SPOP series creator Noelle Stevenson stated that autistic storyboarder Sam Szymanski played a huge role in shaping Entrapta.
Behind the Mask
Whether she is seen as “morally grey,” “adorkable,” or “chaotic neutral,” she is a smart character who makes her own decisions and tries to fix problems through a mechanical means. Unlike the show’s other protagonists, Adora, Glimmer, Catra, and Bow, around age 17 or 18, she is older, in her late 20s or early 30s. She struggles to connect with others, due to her occasional low self-worth, and sometimes hides behind her mask, affixed to her face. Her voice changes when wearing the mask, as she tries to cover up her autistic traits and appear neurotypical.
As Noelle described Entrapta, she struggles to communicate her feelings or understand what other characters are saying, seeing “humanity in everything,” whether clones, robots, or otherwise. In the show’s most recent, and last season, she begins to balance her love for machines and a desire to connect with others, while helping the protagonists save the world of Etheria, where the series takes place, from the villainous Horde Prime. One of the characters she humanizes is Hordak, former leader of the evil Horde. Their interactions, in the show as a whole, led some fans (and members of the show’s crew) to ship them as “Entrapdak.” This was confirmed as canon in a Black Lives Matter charitable Twitch stream hosted by Noelle and her wife, Molly Ostertag.
Noelle also stated that Entrapta, as a loving person, has a lot of robot boyfriends and girlfriends. The latter is reflected in the show’s most recent season when she flirted with technology, specifically the Horde Robot in the episode “Launch,”and the spaceship, which she named “Darla,” in the episode “Stranded.” Whether these are examples of robosexuality, referring to love or sexuality between a robot and a humanoid person, or not, there is not question it is part of her propensity to see humanity in everything.
System Failure
Entrapta freely makes her own decisions as an “underappreciated technowizard,” some of which are reprehensible. For instance, she helped the Horde destroy much of Etheria. Although she stayed loyal to her friend, Hordak, it is incorrect to call her the “worst kind of villain” or a person who cares only about pursuing knowledge despite the consequences. Whether she is fully aware of the planetary damage she has caused, she is undoubtedly morally ambiguous, with a “cheerfully wobbly” moral compass, different than the show’s other characters.
She thinks that her calculations and data will give her the “answers,” no matter the cost. As such, it is incorrect to say she lacks the ability to self-assess her actions or embodies stereotypes. After the Princesses unintentionally stranded her in the Fright Zone, she joined the show’s villains, the Horde, leading some to declare that she is a harmful form of representation, while others claimed she believed the lies of Catra, Adora’s romantic interest. In any case, Entrapta willingly stays with the Horde and the Princesses respect this decision while disagreeing with it.
There is a deeper reason she joined the Horde. When Glimmer and Adora meet her in her debut episode, “System Failure,” fighting the murder robots she accidentally created, Glimmer sees her as a way to impress her mother and win the war against the series villains. In contrast, Glimmer’s friend, Bow, sympathizes with Entrapta, calling her a “brilliant inventor,” praise she happily accepts. Despite Glimmer’s negative vibe, she stays friendly, and offers to cut off her leg to save them from the robots.
A few episodes later, in “Princess Prom,” Entrapta geeks out, describing the prom as a “social experiment” which is the best place to observe social behavior. She pries into Glimmer’s uneasiness and becomes friendly with Catra. Later, after Adora pulls her aside, it is implied that Entrapta’s heart isn’t with the Rebellion. The forcefulness of Glimmer, Adora, Mermista, and Perfuma toward her throughout season one, may be a subconscious turn-off for Entrapta, with the Princesses not completely understanding her. While the Princesses mourn the “death” of Entrapta, unknowingly leaving her behind, they had used her for their own purposes (defeating the Horde). Catra does the same thing, using her to get back at Adora.
Finding Friends in Exile
Furthermore, Entrapta may have been unaware she defected to the Horde or cares what side she is on. In the episode “Ties That Bind,” she tentatively says she is with the Horde, telling Glimmer that she is on the side of science, but is living in the Fright Zone. Near the end of season three, considering what Adora told her, she tries to warn Hordak to not open a portal which threatens to destroy Etheria. Catra panics, electrocutes Entrapta, and tries to distance herself from her mistakes by sending Entrapta into exile onto the remote Beast Island. In the bizarre world created by the portal, Adora and her friends meet Entrapta who helps them figure out what is happening and thanks Adora for being a friend. In the following season, she is thankful that Bow, Adora, and their talking horse, save her from Beast Island, a place full of “technological monstrosities.” Although she left Beast Island for scientific discovery and data, she appreciates Bow as a friend.
Due to Entrapta’s track record with the Horde, the princesses are distrustful. This is shown in the season five episode, “Launch.” As Megan Crouse describes it in her article, Entrapta begins to clash with the other princesses, putting them in danger. When Mermista accuses her of not caring about them and being untrustworthy, she responds by not realizing the Princesses were angry with her in the first place. She retreats to apologizing, stating: “I’m not good at people, but I am good at tech. I thought maybe if I could use tech to help you, you’d like me. But I messed that up, too.” After this, Entrapta tries to get away, but Mermista pulls her back by her prehensile hair, like Horde Prime in a later episode, relenting only when convinced that Entrapta cares about Glimmer.
In the rest of the season, she works to earn the trust of the other Princesses, gaining more friends as she recognizes the reasons behind her actions and explores her feelings for others. While you could say that Entrapta does not see the full consequences of her harmful actions, she overcomes possible social isolation and helps the series protagonists save their friends (first Glimmer, then Catra) from Horde Prime’s flagship, the Velvet Glove. She also removes the mind-control chip from Catra’s neck and forgives Catra after she apologizes for her hurtful actions. In the final episode of the season, after trying to disable mind-control chips of those across Etheria, when held against her will on the Velvet Glove, she apologizes to everyone. Later, after Catra and Adora save the world with their love, she reunites with Hordak.
Entrapta Represents
In the end, Entrapta is a positive form of representation for autistic people and subverts the Entrapta from the original She-Ra series, a simple villain without a conscience.

Time for the third installment of the Babbit Babbles about Song Qinghe of I'm So Pretty.
Today's subject: The inspiration for Cloneverse Liu Can's becoming a model when he isn't off doing special ops stuff or assassinating Wang agents.
The situation starts because Shen Hao Chen has decided he'd rather learn how to run an excavator than photograph models.
I rather suspect he's actually playing hooky so he can help the ML of the story with his photography, but that'd need me to pay attention to something other than Liu Chang, here.
Tumblr media
I mean, how can you ask that of me? Look at that face. LOOK at it.
Because Shen Hao Chen isn't around, another photographer, one famed for doing wildlife work, has been handed the job of photographing Lin Xi for the couple's photoshoot. This guy a character - not necessarily a great one - whose main claim to fame is wildlife photography. Having no choice, Lin Xi accepts the change.
However, a new spanner in the works is the fact that the model who was going to work with her has failed to show up. About to cancel and change the date, the photographer notices Song Qinghe and pretty much decides he should be the model instead.
Song Qinghe is thrilled, I tell you. Thrilled.
Tumblr media
When he tries to protest, the wildlife photographer goes into loving detail about his experiences as a model himself. Wherein he disguised himself as a chimpanzee and got courted by one of the other chimps and... well...
Tumblr media
Song Qinghe gives up. He accepts the task despite his self-doubts and - after a bit of confusion - goes to get changed into the outfit he's supposed to wear and get his makeup done.
Tumblr media
Is this a face that needs makeup? No. This is not a face that needs makeup. (Actually, he would because cameras are cruel monsters that make even the prettiest faces look flat and ugly. MONSTERS!)
And now he and Lin Xi are assigned their first task. Lin Xi is to hold lipstick and pretend it's a weapon she's turning on Song Qinghe. First try...
Tumblr media
Maybe a bit rough, Lin Xi. This is supposed to be romantic.
Tumblr media
There. That's better. (And that's Cloneverse Wang Can controlling himself so as not to break the poor girl's wrist because instinct should never be stronger than self-discipline.)
The next assignment requires them to be in the midst of, or at the end of, an emotional argument, with neither clear on how to do so. In part because they'd never heard their parents argue due to their mothers being dead. (Damn, kids. That's hard.)
But they pull through after a bit and this finally happens.
Tumblr media
Nailed it.
The next assignment is to perform a make up hug. Neither are managing this particularly well.
Tumblr media
Fortunately for them, fate once more makes sure things go all right by dropping a stagelight.
Tumblr media
Lin Xi: You love those lights better than me! (He probably does, actually.)
In the end, though, he ends up catching her instead so she isn't hurt, thus providing the necessary image.
Tumblr media
It's a very pretty shot, even if their conversation is her asking if he didn't feel sorry for the light.
Song Qinghe: No. You'll be paying for it.
And people say romance is dead.
Anyway, I reiterate that while these two could be turned into a couple without a lot of effort, I don't think they are. (They might work together in the future, either as photographer and model or models, however.)
They have learned to respect each other a little, I think, and some people do better at friendships than they do at romance.
Next segment will cover their last meeting in the series.

Book List: Immortality Through Literature and Why We Don’t Live Forever
The Theme of this book list is inspired by a project I am doing for my Humanities Midterm: Immortality Through Literature and Why We Don’t Live Forever. Immorality may seem like something truly desirable, but through the books I have listed below, you will notice that the meaning of life comes from the very fact that it is finite.
(some spoilers included!)
1. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
This book explores the avoidance of aging by a young man named Dorian Gray. As time passes in the book, Dorian remains young, while a portrait of him ages in his place. However, his pursuit of eternal youth results in dire consequences.
2. Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
This anti-war novel follows the unconventional experiences of Billy Pilgrim, unstuck in time, as he grapples with the absurdity of war and the inevitability of death.
3. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
In a dystopian world, three friends discover the unsettling truth about their purpose in life, weaving a poignant narrative that explores the intersection of love, identity, and mortality.
4. Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury
In this book, the death of Grandpa Spaulding marks the turning point in the story, transitioning from a carefree summer of youth to acknowledgement and acceptance of mortality.
5. The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab
In this fantasy, a Addie Larue is trapped in her 23 year old body for 300 years. However, this “gift” comes with a curse, she is forgotten by everyone she meets.
6. Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan
In a future where consciousness can be transferred between bodies, the story explores the implications of immortality and the loss of personal identity through futuristic prose.
7. The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin
Four siblings confront the implications of knowing the dates of their deaths, leading them on various paths in a compelling exploration of destiny, choices, and the impact of foreknowledge.
8.The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
This enchanting tale follows two magicians engaged in a mystical competition within the confines of a magical circus, blending romance, fantasy, and the eternal dance between life and death.
9. The Epic of Gilgamesh
Among the earliest literary works, this epic poem follows Gilgamesh’s quest for immortality. As he encounters challenges and learns profound lessons, the story highlights the value of a mortal’s legacy and the inevitability of the human experience.
10. Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit
While this novel is for younger audiences, it still presents a great example of the dilemmas of eternal life. In this novel, the Tuck family discovers a magical spring that grants immortality, but as Winnie, an ordinary girl, gets entwined in their secret, the consequences of the enchantment unfold.

Tooning In! 11 Craig Clark part 2 or 7
Tumblr media
DL: So, we’re talking about FilmFair and how the UK division is well know then The American headquarters.
CC: I did not know much about the UK division.
DL: Yeah ok, so back on track, how is the environment of Commercial Animation studios different from Television Animation Studios? As you are more fond of the former.
CC: I liked doing commericials doing full animation. Only drawback was the schedule was only 8 weeks then you had to find something else. TV shows can last up to a year, doing character layout, boards or directing. Little real animation unless you actually get to do the opening tile in house, (Simpsons, Alvin and the Chipmunks...) Yeah it was Art Babbit I saw in the Filmfair ink and paint department animating Richard Williams Thief and the  Cobbler. Old man in the corner all by himself. Later Richard Williams had his own commercial studio up the street on Cahuenga.
DL: Wait, where was Dick getting the money to start a US studio?
CC: From his UK studio I bet
DL: This is way before he worked at Disney to become Director on Roger Rabbit replacing Darrell Van Critters!
CC: Roger Rabbit was the result of his finishing the Thief after 30 years. There was a Roger Rabbit crew at Bear animation on Caheunga as well. As well as the one in Camden Town in London. The first Roger Rabbit tests with the old design was shot at Namebrand studios in Santa Monica.....part of the "off the lot" development team.
DL: Is that the name of the studio, Namebrand?
CC: Yeah, it was run by John Scheele. Early motion control cameras built by Bill Tondreau for Tron. Don Kushner was the main producer, he would bring his projects in there for development
DL: So you were a special effects animator on the 80s television series Automan, can you tell me what was that?
CC: That was a series produced by Glen Larson for Fox TV on ABC, starring Desi Arnaz JR. Desi was cool, we talked drums, lol. I did the electricity animation on the show, and later the same for Misfits of Science for Universal TV on NBC, out of the same Namebrand facility. Dean Martin Jr was on the show as well as Courtney Cox.  (Dino, Desi and Billy) lol!
DL: How does special effects animation work? In contrast with regular animation?
youtube
He sends me a video of Desi Arnaz jr on the The Ed Sullivan Show on September 19,1965
CC: Fx is anything done with no characters in it. ....shadows, mattes, smoke, rain, electricity, explosions etc.   live action or cartoon. I got along well with Desi. I invited me along as a storyboard artist for a pitch meeting at Columbia for a Raiders of the Lost art game show he was developing. Didn't go but it was cool! I was like the on call Universal FX guy, shots on Miami Vice, etc. Even did the fuse burning on the Mission Impossible TV reboot title. Then computers came...it all stopped. no more film! There are plug ins to do all this now! AI is next...lol!
DL: I know! Do you draw directly on the film to create the visual effects?
CC: No, we rotoed the live action from film, drawing every frame on paper, then hand drew the animation on a separate piece of paper. We shot the animation on high con film, which was later used as an element in optical printing. We would choose different filters for colors, etc. If we had big budgets we would use black and white photostats of each frame to draw over. (features).
DL: Ah ok, because back then I thought they drew on film to create effects like that!
CC: No, optical printing!
DL: Ah, so you worked at DiC Audiovisual in 1984 right as a storyboarder on Kissyfur and The Real Ghostbusters. At the time DiC Entertainment was called DiC Audiovisual until 1987
CC: Yeah quick freelance, boards and asst animation. It was not in the main DIC building, just a little office.
DL: Ah, I remember Chuck Lorre said in a interview that DiC was originally on top of a Salon. And that they accept walk-in visits. Was that the case while you were at DiC?
CC: Yes. Was small on the top floor near Burbank High school, They later had a giant building across from Warner Bros.
DL: I know, my uncle lived in LA around the mid 2000s and saw the DiC headquarters daily on his way to college or work, I don’t remember.
CC: Nice! I didn't work there too long. I forgot what was next.
DL: So, according to IMDb, you were a storyboard artist for Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984. We’re you?
CC: yup with Bill Kroyer and Chris Bailey, it was a freelance job while we were on the Starchier movie.
DL: Wait! Chris Bailey, the Disney animator was working on that film? I understand Bill cause he’s more of a VFX guy than a animator but Chris!
CC: Bill came out of Disney, started in character, then fx and CG. Chris more of a character guy
DL: I see. Where did you did board work for the film? Was at a particular studio?
CC: We did it at home and during lunch breaks on the Starchier movie. Earlier I assisted Bill on this Superman Hot Chocolate commercial at Spungbuggy... https://youtu.be/WBR7cBFN72w?si=TRK8u9zIjNtyKonH
youtube
He a 1983 commercial for Superman hot chocolate mix in which he was assistant animator to Bill Kroyer.
New Line was just starting. For Nightmare.
DL: So a break for Freddy, that Superman cocoa commercial is really fluid, which part did you animated on?
CC: Superman and the hot chocolate at the end.
DL: Also, Captain Cold is a Flash villain.
CC: lol!
DL: But back to Freddy, so I originally thought because this was New Line's first Blockbuster film that they shot everything on the spot. No storyboards. As this was a Low budget B-movie which got money from European investors.
CC: shot by shot storyboards,,,,we followed closely. I'd show you the link but Google took it off.
DL: So did you board that infamous scene where Nancy's mother got pulled by Freddy from the Door window? As they had to use a giant rag doll which when I first saw it at first, I thought it was stop motion animation!
Tumblr media
He shows me his storyboards he did, also recognized that Freddy got hair?
CC: We divided the movie up into three parts, Me, Chris, Bill. very small boards.
DL: So by your order, Bill did that scene then?
CC: my section was the fire section.
DL: Why did your Freddy had hair? Fred has no hair, it burned off! LoL!
CC: boards are done before makeup and art direction, dunno. It's all Warner Bros now...lol!
DL: So, did you saw the film when went into theaters?
CC: Yes, I did. I also did FX on Nightmare 3 over at Dream Quest.
DL: Wait That's Disney's VFX studio before they bought Lucasfilm that owned ILM!
CC: yes they were bought by Disney later.
DL: So, Starchaser: The Legend of Orin for Alantic Releasing. You were assistant animator, digital choreographer and computer animation planner
CC: Yes
DL: What was that film, because I have the screenwriter's book, How to Write for Animation.
CC: Starchaser was a feature shot on film.....in stereoscopic 3d.
Tumblr media
He then shows me a scene for Nightmare on Elm Street which he did VFX work.
DL: Is that the scene where Freddy attacks Nancy but before does he turns to magic dust?
CC: No the guy in the wheelchair shoots some stuff. I think.
DL: Anyway, but how was the experience on Starchaser?
CC: Starchaser was cool. Got to do very early CG animation on graph paper. 6 coordinates plated on graph paper, later to be number crunched on the motion control camera, then printed out on cel for left eye and right eye Stereo 3d.

But I'm a Cheerleader (1999)
Tumblr media
But I'm a Cheerleader is a 1999 satirical film directed by Jamie Babbit--it is campy, gay, pink, sweet, and deeply unserious. It follows Megan, played by the iconic Natasha Lyonne, a cheerleader who is sent to a conversion camp in a giant pink and blue mansion staffed by the likes of RUPAUL after her family and friends suspect she is a lesbian. Despite the film's on-paper serious subject matter, it holds a tone of heightened silliness and pokes fun at the real darkness of homophobia. Megan meets cool girl Graham (Clea Duvall), and against all odds, the two fall in love at True Directions. For a film made in 1999, it was impressively ahead of its time for the way it managed to both be a film about a girl falling in love for a girl, but also for the way it makes oppressive societal structures the butt of the joke, while being campy and fun, with an unmistakably saturated color palette that adds so much to the tone of the movie. It is considered an important piece of cinema in the queer community for this fact, and truly feels like it was for us and by us.
