We didn’t plant our garden until early May this year; the seeds should have been put in the ground much earlier. It’s going to freeze here this weekend, and we’ll probably lose many of our plants. BUT... after tending the garden all summer, after watering and weeding and pruning, we’ve still tasted some of the fruit of our labor. We’ve harvested tomatoes, peppers, kale and eggplant. And we will bring more in to ripen inside ahead of the incoming frost. We planted later than we had planned, but the seeds still grew. How about you, Mama? Is there something you’ve been meaning to do, but the work seems hard and you feel as if it’s almost too late? Reading aloud to your kids? Taking daily time to meditate? Family devotions? Decluttering that room...or your whole house? Meal planning? Plant a few seeds today...water them, tend them, prune them when needed. Soooo IMPORTANT!!! Responsive Parents!!! Please read and absorb this. The practice of Responsive Parenting acts as a buffer against PTSD and emotional damage, in childhood. Children may experience trauma and may always have that trauma in their life, however, we can minimize PTSD symptoms by being responsive. Also, it implies that just because something happens that causes a great emotional reaction does not mean that experience caused PTSD. How the reaction is responded to, is what determines how our mind perceies a fearful moment. If we feel scared and then are comforted by someone who feels safe to us, the trauma response in the brain is reduced. He llegado a conocer y estudiar muchas técnicas y ejercicios para aplicar en la familia, sin embargo, el tener un manual de estrategias, no es algo que necesariamente vaya a funcionar, si antes no hay una acción que salga desde mi propia serenidad y quietud y que además, esté enfocada en lo que realmente importa.
Mindfulness en mi maternidad, implica mostrarme ante mis hijos y ante mí misma, con toda la aceptación y compasión posible. Cualquiera que sea el reto, lo mejor que puedo hacer es estar ahí con presencia para mis hijos, en el momento presente de lo que sea que esté sucediendo.
Mindfulness no trata de técnicas, sí de una práctica constante. Mindfulness tampoco nos dice qué tenemos que hacer, sino cómo podemos poner atención a lo que sucede, tal y como sucede, en el momento que sucede. 
También nos lleva a ver las cosas tal cual suceden y no como quisiéramos que pasaran, lo cual significa que podamos ver a nuestros hijos tal como son ellos en su esencia y no como quisIéramos que fueran. Esto es Poderoso en nuestra relación y vínculo con ellos.
En mi casa al traer esta vivencia del mindfulness, recuerdo que al inicio me veían extraño cuando hacía mis prácticas formales, los invitaba y se negaban o se reían! Fue así cuando empecé a estudiar también cómo podía enseñarlo y adaptarlo a niños, lo cual me permitió encontrar buenísimos recursos y llevarlos no sólo a mi hogar y mis hijos, sino a muchas aulas con estudiantes de todas las edades. 
Más me apasioné por el tema, pues me di cuenta de que esos beneficios que ya yo estaba obteniendo para mí, los estaba viendo en pequeñitos que terminaban pidiéndome más prácticas.
Pocas cosas hay más satisfactorias, que ver a un grupo de niños en comunidad, integrando con amor el silencio y la conexión interior consigo mismos.
Verlos realizar prácticas de escucha atenta, de alimentación consciente, de observación silenciosa, de atención a sus maravillosos cuerpos y sensaciones de todos sus sentidos, de verlos aplicar en sus prácticas la compasión por sí mismos y por los demás.
Son estas prácticas las que hoy me emociona tanto enseñar también a las mamás de todos los rincones posibles. Porque quiero que se conviertan también en las "instructoras" de sus propios hijos de estas maravillosas prácticas de vida.
No hay mejor coach para un niño que su mamá!
Seamos primero nosotras quienes lo experimentemos en nosotras mismas, para poder enseñarlo. Una vez que lo vivimos y lo aplicamos en nuestro día a día, se convierte en nutrición diaria para nuestra mente, cuerpo y corazón.
También lo llegamos a modelar hacia nuestros seres queridos, hasta que pronto ellos querrán también aprenderlo y practicarlo.
Hoy mi esposo y mis hijos sí creen en las bondades del Mindfulness. Mi esposo comparte algunas prácticas conmigo y tiene ya la conciencia de los beneficios que trae a su vida. Mis hijos aprenden algo de mí cada día, aunque siempre quisiera enseñarles más.
Aún mi gran reto con los mayores, es la tecnología en sus manos que tanto los distrae del momento presente y de la interacción en familia muchas veces. La pequeñita es más bien mi maestra cuando está 100% presente en sus juegos, en sus actividades, en su capacidad de contemplar el mundo, en atención con todos sus sentidos y emociones.
Qué ha hecho mindfulness en nuestro hogar?
Siento que el que podamos tener más momentos de una atención enfocada en lo que estemos haciendo, una mayor conexión en nuestra comunicación, hacer más pausas antes de reaccionar, escuchar más de forma activa, apreciar mucho más el contacto con la naturaleza, enfocarnos más en lo verdaderamente importante, saborear más el momento presente y sobre todo, aceptarnos más desde el amor, la compasión y gratitud cuando nos equivocamos.
