#mobius having an existential crisis:

"hey, loki." he doesn't know where he is. not exactly. somewhere in california, that he knows. around the 1980's. somewhere safe, or at least years before the invasion of new york ever happens. mobius doesn't like going to anytime after that period, unless he's visiting don and the kids, because any time where he knows a version of loki is near earth hurts.
anyway. he's glad that b-15 let him get ahold of a timepad. just in case you need to find your way back here, she tells him, even though that's kind of bull, because they both know he's going to use it for anything but to return to the TVA.
the TVA. mobius feels a bitter scoff running up his throat now, but he chases it away. so much for it being his whole life; being all that he knows. it's surprisingly barren, working through the files and the computer log without... well, without ravonna breathing his neck for once, and without loki. loki. right. he was in the middle of something, wasn't he?
mobius digs his toes into the california sands. it's rough. even being near the sea isn't as thrilling as it should've been.
"they said you could hear me. theoretically. wherever you are, up in the cosmos, or- or beyond that. how... how are ya'?" people are looking at him weird for talking alone, to no one, but who cares. he doesn't. "i hope... i hope you're good, yeah. i just- i've been well, if you'd even care to ask." but of course loki cares; the gentlest thing to ever to. if he doesn't, he would've let all these lives perish. but instead—
"i'm sorry. you know i didn't mean that." he says softly now, like the god is right there. like mobius could reach him, caress that hair away from that face like he never could've, but wanted to. he'd always wanted to. there were just- never time. never a chance. loki was so focused, and he only ever wanted to help. "i've been good, uh. but you know that, cause i mentioned it. i just... i know about don now, and the kids. great kids. little rascals, really. kinda remind me of you."
a chuckle, but again, it sounds- like rattling stones in an empty can. it's nothing. it's just sound. mobius hates it. "i... i don't get it, loki. i don't." he whispers now, and there's anguish there, deep and wretched. it's selfish, asking this of loki, pleading. he's doing a good thing; he's saving lives, but mobius— "i know you've wanted a throne, but is this what you meant?"
alone, cold, empty. did he even have food there? snacks? could he sleep? is anybody even taking care of him, looking out for him? mobius doesn't know; and not knowing kills.
"you know, i never... i never said it aloud- maybe i should've, but... i thought we could've had a good life together, you and me. i don't know what we'd be doing: probably tasting food, riding jet skis and causing mischief, but it sounds like a life, right? a good one. a simple one, but good. and i could- i would've built a throne for you if you want. in a nice house, maybe. by a lake. just you and me, loki. we'll let time pass, you and i. that's all we would have to do. no more heroic deeds; no more sacrificial lambs. just ... something simple, but good."
i would've loved you, is what he doesn't say, but desperately wants to. how can he? his throat's tight. and his vision's getting blurry. great, mobius thinks, wiping away at his budding tears. he can't be doing this again. cause what if loki'll never take him seriously, a man begging through his sobs. he's an asgardian like that; they're gonna have their pride. "i- i miss you. i'm sorry." for what? he doesn't know. for not being quick enough, maybe, to notice what loki's up to. for not stopping him when he could. for not waiting.
because that's all loki's ever wanted: time. mobius wishes he could've given it to him.
it’s quite strange.   he can feel everything.   everything that is, everything that isn’t, everything that was and will be and might be and is about to be and—you understand.   eyes and ears everywhere.   watching but not quite living.   at least most of them are.   except one.
except the one to whom loki owes beyond everyone else.   that one is solemn, nostalgic and defeated, unable to enjoy the water he so passionately enjoyed, once.   it feels bitter.   if loki can feel such a thing anymore.
the wind picks up a little.   the clouds above mobius form a strange shape, like a pair of almond shaped eyes.   a kid a few meters away points it out to his mother.   i know, the sea whispers.   i know.   the sky darkens though only slightly.   the waves form a rhythmic hum, like a calling from the beyond.   it’s a sad sound.   serene, though wretched.   like the whining of some spectre, unable to escape from where it’s been bound.   the gentle breeze picks up into a gust of wind, rising sand up to mobius’s thighs, dusting him.
Tumblr media
a croak echoes behind him.   there’s a bird there, behind him;   white, black, the edges of its wings gleaming with blue-green when the light hits it just right.   the magpie tilts its head, cawing at mobius then it opens its wings, rises until it can settle on mobius’s shoulder and nests there, cawing at the horizon.   there’s naught to be done.   this was the only way loki wanted to follow.   the only way they could be given a chance;   the only way for them to live and to protect what has been preserved.   it’s a sad thing.   loki does not regret it.   he only hopes this time, it will be enough.

The second season is honestly becoming increasingly harder to watch because what are they trying to do?
The show is titled Loki but he feels like a side character is his own show, I know many MANY things are happening but literally Loki is not the central figure driving the story.
My expectations were low but I did not know Disney could do this much worse!!!!
What the FUCK was episode 3 with the Miss Minutes thing and weird little Ravonna/Victor attempt???
Marvel is just getting worse and worse with what they're putting out, I want the character or even narrative driven stories back where people were well fleshed out, had consistency and their actions made sense to who there were!!! This feels like just trying to sell shock value because you know you have a base of consumers who will stay to see what happens to their favourite character.
They are absolutely ignoring all the material they have available to them to work with! This Loki has only experienced things till the Avengers movie, there is so much character deep dive they could do! What is the point of giving them their own show and then not talking about them at all??
I'll come to the queer things later cause boy do I have a list for that, but first of all, Loki is not a new character in any capacity??? He has been loved and is arguably the biggest fan favourite since his introduction, the amount of theories about him and what people would like to see is very well known!! Right in front of them is his still unclear feelings in his adoption, about being a Jotun, loosing his family and the complicated relationships with them. I can see they are acknowledging his God of Mischief status a little bit but!! Trickster!! Let us see him be a wild card properly!! Not in the sense of betraying his new TVA family - that's what it is and you can fight me on that- but being chaotic!! Yes, using his magic like with Brad!! SHOW ME HE IS A GOD!!!
The worst thing is how lost everyone feels, like I'm not talking about the whole free will conundrum everyone is going through, that is spectacular! Unfortunately it is not coming across, we literally don't get to hear any of the characters talk about what they think of it. There was the key lime pie moment but no follow up to what that is for Loki? It's just one crisis after another, maybe rehash some of what has already happened, bring back the seriousness of this!! The entire multiverse is at stake but we'll make it look like whimsical wishy-washy stuff??!??!!!
Don't get me wrong, I am LOVING the time travel aspect of it, where it looks like Loki/Mobius are on cute dates. But then make it real, the fucking queerbaiting is ridiculous. The throw-away comment in season one about looking being bi was just that and nothing else. And I'm not saying this cause aww they look cute together! But also cause the development of their relationship has been as such!! They have been very dependent on each other and that's not being addressed at all.
I know there are multiple posts about a possible betrayal and my fear is that they're going to try to use that to basically change everything about the characters again, a lot of OOC based on the fact that oh yeah they're going through an existential crises so it makes sense.
Sylkie made barely any sense to me even apart from the whole selfcest issue- they just imposed a the structure of what a straight relationship should be where there was barely any chemistry. S1 E3 had them as really good chaotic siblings/twins and then adding the romantic tones to that really ruined it. Trying to bring it back, possibly, is just weird cause so far they want very different things. These people just don't align together, stop forcing them to? The fact that they refuse to even talk about that kiss shows that they are keeping it open and not just acknowledging that "hey, we don't want the same things in life and I'm happy for you, you matter a lot to me but a romantic relationship is not happening. Also cause you know, we're the same person, lol."
Sylvie as a character is also very confusing rn, there is honestly no need for her to keep coming back in this way??? I'm going to reserve further opinions because half the season is left but I dont expect anything to really get better.

Lokius writing prompts 3
My new ideas, some of them are inspired by the latest episode. My previous Lokius writing prompts are here, and here. If anyone uses them, please let me know. I want to read it. Today there are only 3 prompts but they are LONG 👀
1 - After saving the Multiverse, Loki and Mobius live together in Mobius' home. They are both busy working at TVA and looking after the children. Loki is so happy to have Mobius back and be part of his life that he doesn't question anything. That is until the younger of Mobius' children calls him dad (to his face or to someone else, and Loki overhears it). Loki then starts to notice that people around them (in TVA and outside) think that he and Mobius are together. This causes Loki to have an existential crisis, as he has been acting like the children's dad and Mobius' partner and for some reason has been completely unaware of this until that moment. Loki realises that he is really happy to be a part of Mobius' family and would like to start a real relationship with Mobius, but he is not sure what Mobius thinks about this and at this point he is too afraid to ask.
2 - Field Trip to Avengers Tower AU! TVA's Loki landed in the place of 2012's Loki just after the failed Chitauri invasion. He managed to convince everyone that he was under the influence of the Mind Stone, and to help fix everything he had inadvertently contributed to he promised to help defend Earth from a future invasion by Thanos. As a result, he joined the Avengers and, despite earlier scepticism about his intentions at this point after two years, most people more or less believe he actually wants to help. Still some members of the Avengers prefer not to get too close to him. Loki is again an outsider. On a day when the Avengers' tower is holding open days and another tour of visitors arrives, Tony Stark notices Loki's strange behaviour. At the sight of a perfectly ordinary 50-year-old father of two sons, Loki, the ever-confident god of lies suddenly turns into a bundle of nerves. He nervously fixes his hair and clothes, stammers as he talks, and for some incomprehensible reason starts talking about jet skis to impress the man. The strangest thing is that this tactic works because this DILF, whose name it turns out is Don, keeps emphasising that he is a single father and has no wife. Has he already mentioned that he doesn't have a wife? Tony takes pity on Loki (who completely misses the fact that Don is interested in him) and informs him that Don will definitely agree if Loki asks him out. Loki, who at this point was preoccupied by the fact that he had suddenly met Mobius whom he had completely given up hope of meeting again after the events at TVA, is at first shocked that Tony thought Loki was romantically interested in Mobius. However, he takes his advice as he sees no other option to keep in touch with Mobius and before he knows it he starts dating him.
3 - Loki and Mobius fight a very dangerous variant that jumps through different universes and commits serious crimes on them. It's so serious that TVA has decided that capturing this variant is their top priority. During the fight, Loki and Mobius become separated, and this variant steals Loki's tempad and throws him out of the time door. Loki lands in the middle of Avengers Tower, some time after Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but before Avengers: Age of Ultron. In this universe, Loki really died, so he wasn't pretending to be Odin. Loki lands right in front of Tony Stark, Rhodey and Maria Hill. Luckily for him, the rest of the Avengers are on a mission at the moment. Loki quickly surrenders, is captured and escorted to a makeshift interrogation room in Hulk's part of the underground. During the interrogation, Tony becomes so worked up that he starts showing Loki photos and informations about people who died during the 2012 attack on New York. Loki tries not to show any emotion on his face, but then he sees Mobius' face among the victims. Tony notices his reaction, but he doesn't know what does that mean. After the interrogation, Tony tries to calm down in his workshop when J.A.R.V.I.S. tells him that something strange is happening in Loki's cell. Tony prepares to fly in guns blazing to stop Loki from escaping, but then he looks into the cameras and sees the same man Loki reacted to earlier walking through a strange orange portal. From that moment on, Tony can't look away and sees and hears their entire conversation. He often doesn't understand it, but from what he sees, Loki can't get over the fact that he killed this man, and the newcomer is trying to calm him down. Elements of this conversation that would be nice to include:
Mobius knows about everything since before (at first he wanted to go where he came from but after pruning he changed his mind? sus. Maybe some other Loki variant returned his memories and this is why Mobius reacts the way he reacts when somebody talks about it)
Mobius doesn't care that Loki killed his variant because he doesn't think his variant at that time was important to Loki and his death is no different from the deaths of other people
Mobius knows about how Loki was being affected by: learning that he was not only adopted but also a frost giant, suicide attempt in 1st Thor, falling into the hands of Thanos and the Other, the influence of the Mind Stone, etc. and how it all contributed to what Loki did
Mobius knows that even Loki who was out of his mind was trying to sabotage the invasion (come on, he can teleport, change his appearance and covert operations are his speciality, but he does everything in the most flashy and dramatic way possible? and Dr Selvig, a weak human managed to oppose the Mind Stone to the point of building an off switch in the portal? sus)
Loki repeats what Mobius told him in the interrogation room during their first meeting ("You were born to cause pain and suffering and death. That's how it is, that's how it was, that's how it will be. All so that others can achieve their best versions of themselves.")
A very strong hug
After listening to this conversation Tony can't go back to hating Loki. When the rest of the Avengers comes back Tony is on the Loki's side and he tries to calm down Thor who is angry, hurt and doesn't like Mobius at all. It would be better if Mobius didn't have children in this fanfic.
(This is a prompt I'm trying to use myself but I don't know if I will finish this story so I decided to give it to you. You are welcome to use it if you want to. Especially because even if I finish it I don't know if I'm ever going to translate it into English - it's not my native language)
Yes, I know most of my prompts have the "sudden realisation of feelings" cliche in it, but I just don't think that with everything going on in the show Mobius and Loki have time to process their feelings. Which is why they need the slow burn story to have the time to:
A - notice how they are feeling, process it, confess and get together.
Or:
B - get together because reasons, notice their feelings, process them and then confess.
I also know that I use Tony Stark a lot in these prompts. You can replace him with any other Avenger if you want.
As usual:
Bonus points if in post season 2 canon complaint stories every member of TVA hates spaghetti with burning passion.
More bonus points for Loki's interactions with various members of the Avengers, Guardians, SHIELD, etc.
Even more bonus points for Lokius slow burn.
Tell me what you think of my ideas!
BTW - I don't have Disney+ and I never watched Loki season 2 🤡 (only the first 4 episodes of season 1.) Most of what I know about the show I know from the internet. I hope my prompts are consistent with the plot.

episode 2-
Mobius: Because if you think too hard about where any of us came from, who we truly are, it sounds kind of ridiculous. Existence is chaos. Nothing makes any sense, so we try to make some sense of it. And I’m just lucky that the chaos I emerged into gave me all this. My own glorious purpose. Because the TVA is my life. And it’s real because I believe it’s real. Loki: So everything is written. Past, present, future. There’s no such thing as free will. Mobius: Well, I mean, you know, it’s an oversimplification. Loki: So in fact, in a way, you and I, here at the TVA, we’re the only ones who are actually free. Mobius: Where are you going with this, Loki? Loki: How does it all end? Mobius: That’s a work in progress.
episode 5-
Mobius: All that time, I really believed we were the good guys. Sylvie: Annihilating entire realities, orphaning little girls, classic hero stuff. Mobius: Well, I guess when you think the ends justify the means, there’s not much you won’t do. By the way, you did some annihilating too. Sylvie: I did what I had to do. Mobius: Yeah, so did I. Sylvie: You hunted me like a dog. Mobius: I’m sorry about that.
episode 6-
Mobius: I think people are ready to hear a little truth now. You know, like the TVA is a lie. Ravonna Renslayer: But what if it’s a necessary one? Someone created the Time Keepers. They created this whole place. They gave us all purpose. I have to believe they had a reason. Mobius: No, because I’ve seen the horror waiting for people when they get pruned, and there’s nothing necessary about that. Ravonna Renslayer: You know what would happen if we didn’t prune the Timeline? Mobius: What? Ravonna Renslayer: Chaos. Death. Mobius: Free will?
I wanted to line these three conversations up because it becomes clear just how much Mobius refuses to take any kind of moral responsibility. He honestly tries to play moral high ground against Ravonna when earlier that day he had Loki continuously beaten because he was angry he ran away. What was so necessary about that? He really is great at lying to himself.
You know, when you put it like that it almost feels like it could have worked with Mobius falling victim to the propaganda to realizing the truth and turning his back on the TVA... that's what Mikey wanted to do but it doesn't work if he doesn't take any responsibility for his actions.
It makes no sense to have a character who has spent years or decades (if not more) working for the TVA and believing their lies, finally finding out the truth and instead of having an existential crisis he blames everyone around him but himself. That's not a logical reaction at all!
He should hate himself, he should be devastated from all the pain and death he has caused, he should be apologizing profusely to Loki - hell, even to Sylvie - and aching to make amends. But he shows no signs of any of that, if anything he's delighted about that "free will" he despised just a few hours earlier.
Mikey imbued him with all that shallow morality when he speaks to Ravonna but his words fall flat precisely because he feels no responsibility for any of it. The time loop was Mobius' call, not hers - what, he doesn't feel bad about that? Isn't he supposed to be oh so morally responsible now?
She didn't do it on her own, in fact she ordered the missions but he is the one who carried them out. Renslayer's reaction is far more believable than Mobius'.

(Modern Tails anon) Considering there's apparently financial troubles going on with IDW, one has to wonder if the comic lives long enough to see that story one day.
Heh, the funny thing is, he could technically do those things too. Maybe not as well, but a kid fox genius running around with a flamethrower he built being alongside Blaze has to invoke some type of interesting imagery. Same with a stealth mission with Rouge.
I figured, especially with Sonic is one the earliest examples of seeing a video game character having a clear personality. (At least those Origins cutscenes added something more upfront; albeit very late for this decades-long series. But something to refer back to nonetheless.)
I think I've seen that somewhere. The most I know of Tails himself in that continuity is that he and other foxes are from some secret zone and he has grown the title of hero in that village through rather clumsy, but well-meaning antics. Albeit through lying at first.
(Yup, AOSTH Tails even turned an entire truck into a mechanical dragon and handled himself while Sonic was frozen in stone. The most SatAM did was that one episode near the end. I still wonder if the plans for season 3 had gone through, would Tails be looked at a bit differently depending on how it went since his role was supposed to expand greatly.)
Hmm, it's going to depend on how these next set of episodes go. Seeing the other Tailses will likely strike a chord in Nine; but that doesn't fully mean villain arc. Existential crisis, maybe. I expect him more to tap into something hidden within him he didn't notice before. (Probably doesn't help that outside of Sonic and Shadow, we don't know the Prime versions of the characters that well; not great if you don't have at least basic knowledge on Sonic. If Tails did show some "Nine" traits during his early days with Sonic; specifically the trusting and friends part, I think there'd be a fairer grasp of why Tails didn't end up like Nine and why Nine is slowly resembling the original Tails. This applies to the other counterparts too, not just his alone.) Heh, never doubt the power of a fandom has when they catch the slightest bit of angst fuel from any character. And missing the nuances that come with grey/neutral characters. (Trust me, I'd love to see Tails let loose some raw, unbridled emotion that could have you think about his morality or sense of justice, but in the right context. Something I don't see Prime fully committing to, whether they DO go through with it.)
Two intelligent scientific minds, separated by different upbringings and how they apply their emotions to their logic, but still learning about how the world works and defy said logic through personal experience. All while seeking approval and praise. Lots of potential there.
There was another Sonic Channel story last year that basically said the same thing about their bond. One being "they have something that goes beyond trust", that "they know what the other needs without having to speak". (Also, their dynamic breaks some the typical tropes you see with 'hero-sidekick'. Like, the latter has the base of operations, not the former. Also, it is not funny and wholesome that Sonic considers this baby fox that attached himself to a younger him the biggest source help he could have ever hope for?)
Honestly I'm not very knowledgeable on how this whole deal works, so I won't say anything on the matter. I wonder if we could get a Sonic webtoon? I know DC comics and Archie both have at least one. Of course, both of them are of questionable quality, but who knows, maybe we'll luck out!
Haha, that's true! Personally I don't really care for him being a kitsune spirit, but I've been thinking of an idea where he replicates their abilities with his tech to make someone else believe he is one.
Yep, Fleetway Tails is from the Nameless Zone which is kind of like old-timey alternative dimension with magic and goblins and stuff. He was kind of loser there, so he moved to Mobius hoping he'd make a name for himself, but he was still a loser there too. But he was too embarrassed and wrote to his family that he became a hero. In the early StC, the writers weren't kind to Tails. He usually just messed things up or got captured (you could kinda understand Sonic's frustration with him, though he could stand to be nicer), and if he did manage to save the day, it was due to sheer luck. He got better though, especially after Sonic got stuck in another dimension. (After he came back, the Freedom Fighters kind of went their separate ways, but S&T often had adventures together as a duo. They both kinda grew up, Tails became more competent and stopped caring as much about impressing people (including Sonic), and Sonic mellowed out and stopped being as harsh on him. They became a better team! I have a soft spot for the stc!Unbreakable Bond, you just kind of have to take into account the specifics of the writing of stc as a whole, I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.)
(I... have mixed feelings on satam, but mostly I just can't finish watching it. It feels like a drag. Not something I would be watching if it wasn't Sonic-related. Not gonna comment on the quality of it, because there are some other shows I felt similarly about and they're super critically acclaimed, like atla. (If Tails was more prominent I mind have at least been watching for his sake) I promised a friend I would read Archie and I wanted to watch satam first, but it looks like at this point I'll just have to skip to the comics.)
I really want to see different counterparts interacting. I'm kind of with Shadow on this situation, try as I may I don't really see them as separate people, I'm more interested in what they could say about the Prime versions of the characters. But it would be more effective if we spent more time with the Prime versions in the first place. I'm hoping for more flashbacks tbh. (Plus I just love how the og models for the characters look without the Shatterverse clothes)
Oh yeah I remember that one! Man I love how Sonic Channel hypes up their bond. I hope we'll get to see more of this in the next games. Sonic really lucked out (and so did Tails of course!)

Loki Masterlist
You didn’t really think much of him. When agent Mobius M. Mobius passed by you in the halls, you’d hardly exchange nods, let alone recognize each other's existence. The TVA was too busy. There were too many variants to track down and prune before things got out of hand - you didn’t exactly have time to ask everyone how their day was.
But then the TVA was destroyed.
Paperwork suddenly became obsolete, branching timelines didn’t matter, the Time Keepers were fake. Everything was chaos.
And you remembered. Whatever haze kept all your memories safely locked away lifted and, through the existential crisis, you realized that you knew him. You could suddenly remember walks through the park, roller skating, awkward hand holding and first kisses, a wedding - everything. He was no longer a stranger. No longer just another agent walking by on his way to fetch another variant.
And then you saw him again.
His hug was warm. It was safe. But his smile... The way he said your name, with an underlying apology. You just smiled and hugged him again. I know, you'd said. A lot had happened since you were both stolen away by the Time Variance Authority. Was it really any surprise that he had changed? You were sure you had changed, too. And who were you to hold that against him?
He told you to come live with him back in the timeline, back in the house you both had started to make for yourself, with a jet ski and freedom and nobody to tell you what to do, no “Time Keepers” to breathe down your neck to keep everything in order and perfect.
He might have mentioned his tall, dark, and handsome friend somewhere in there, too, but you really couldn’t remember, since, ya know, everything was going to shit.
Your old house hadn’t changed a bit, but maybe it was because it was exactly as you had left it when the TVA stole you away. Apparently, in this little branch of time, you and Mobius didn’t live here anymore. But it was just the same, perfect, little house that you remembered.
“You lived here?” Loki asked. He had helped Mobius - or, Mobius had helped him, it was a little unclear to you - take down the TVA. He was taller than both you and Mobius, but not in an intimidating way. From what you gathered, he’d changed a lot on his little quest to take down the Authority.
You nodded excitedly, bouncing on the balls of your feet. “Yes! Look! It's still got the hydrangeas!” You grabbed Mobius’s arm and pointed to the flower bushes. Purple, blue and pink, fluffy flowers all lined the front of the house.
“Yeah.” Mobius chuckled, nodding and nudging you toward the building. “I wonder if it still has that ugly tile in the kitchen.”
“Oh my god!”
And there you went, barging through the door to go see the ugly kitchen backsplash you two never got around to changing.
“She is… something,” Loki offered. His arms were crossed over his chest, defensive, but even he couldn’t fight the grin that split his face. Something about your joy was contagious. “How long were you married before…?” He risked a glance at the ex-TVA agent.
Mobius nodded his head from side to side, hands falling into his pockets as he studied each window (he recognized the crack in the attic window he never got to fix either, and the flower boxes on the upper window that you’d tried and failed to plant anything in that mostly served as bird perches now). “It’s all a bit of a blur,” he admitted. His voice was quiet. Sad. He wished he could shove aside the emotions that had settled within him since he became an agent, since he took in a very stubborn God of Mischief. He wished he could give you more than just the life you would have had. “But, hey,” he ripped himself out of his thoughts, “we’ve got a jet ski.”
Loki chuckled. He’d flipped through countless magazines from the agent’s desk about the vehicle. It was nice to know that something in his mind had held onto that. The TVA couldn’t strip him of everything. “And how is it to ride?”
“Oh, god, she’s beautiful! We gotta take her out on the water tomorrow. There’s a lake nearby.” He looked down the streets, trying to remember exactly where it was. Something in him knew, but it was still foggy. He shrugged. “Somewhere.”
They didn’t seem to notice you peeking through a window, watching as they gave sly grins to the other when the other wasn’t looking. Or how their gazes lingered a little too long sometimes. Mobius’s heart didn’t belong to you anymore, and that was okay. But you’d be damned if you let him miss this opportunity.
"Morning!" you chirped from the dining table. You were already cradling a warm cup of coffee, reading a paper that held events you'd already read about during variant-hunts at the TVA.
Mobius, clad in striped pjs and bedhead, hummed his sleepy good morning back. He found the cabinet that held the mugs like it was second-nature. But when he looked in for his favorite mug, his face pulled into a frown. He shifted a couple others aside, peeking behind them, until a sudden shine of ceramic caught his attention... on a higher shelf.
Now, this was peculiar for two reasons. 1. You never put mugs up that high. Hell, the only dishes you did put up that high were for special occasions (in laws, guests, etc), so for his mug to be not with the other mugs was, well, weird. And 2. The folding step stool wasn't where it normally was. Usually, you kept it right by the counter, ready to be used to reach the higher shelves of the pantry or the special dishes previously mentioned. And yet, it was gone.
Maybe if Mobius hadn't just woken up, he would have pieced together what was going on.
"Morning." The deep, morning rumble of Loki almost startled him out of his thoughts as the God wandered into the kitchen.
Neither of you had really expected a guest in your old house (or, well, suppose you were really the guest, considering Mobius invited you to live with him and Loki), so Mobius let him borrow some sweatpants and he managed to find an old high school t-shirt that fit him. Really well, Mobius had thought when he first saw the way the fabric pulled over his chest.
"Yeah, morning," Mobius said quickly, trying to pull his thoughts away from the Asgardian. "Can you get my mug down?"
Loki followed Mobius's pointer finger up to the cup on a higher shelf, but didn't ask any questions as to why or how it was up there. He simply nodded and stepped to the ex-agent's side to reach the mug. And if one hand rested on Mobius's arm? Well, it was for support, obviously. And if Mobius stared into blue eyes a little too long as he took his favorite Magnum P.I. mug from the God? Clearly, it was just his lack of caffeine slowing his mind down.
All too soon, Mobius cleared his throat and pulled away to pour a cup of coffee for himself as Loki grabbed another mug - this one was a deep green color, you couldn't recall which mother-in-law gave it to whom - and shut the cabinet. While they both tried to dance around what had just happened, you couldn't stop smirking into your mug.
The backsplash was eating away at your soul. It was just so ugly. I mean, who even picked that nightmare out and decided that, "Yes, this will look good here!"? If you were going to be living the rest of your life there, you weren't going to wake up every morning to that eyesore; cook every meal staring at the rainbow-barf, tile-quilted mess that was that backsplash.
So, you grabbed Mobius, told Loki not to burn the place down, and made your way to the home improvement store. Loki really didn't have any complaints with not going, actually rather insisting he stay. He wanted to look at your flowers and adjust more to Midgard.
"I know you moved my mug," Mobius said as you picked up a white tile pattern. He came to stand beside you and look at the example of the tiling on the wall. "And the step ladder."
You turned away, busying yourself with putting the sample in the cart. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
He chuckled, following you as you meandered to the next aisle. "You've always been bad at lying." When you didn't stop, he sped up to get in front of the cart, standing in the way. "What's going on, Y/N?"
You looked him in the eye for as long as you could bear it before you sighed and looked away. You didn't wear a ring anymore - you don't know when you last had worn any - but your fingers still instinctively messed with your ring finger, fiddling with your knuckles and your nail.
"Y/N?" he repeated. He was suddenly in your vision, gently intruding his way into your space so he could take your hand and stop your nervous habit. His brow was creased with worry.
"I just..." You took a deep breath, steeling yourself and looking into his eyes. "I just want you to be happy. And I see the way you look at him, and the way he looks at you."
Mobius smiled, almost bashfully, looking down. "That subtle, huh?"
You chuckled, squeezing his hand. "You invited him to live with you first - I don't think it could be more obvious, Moby."
He was quiet for a moment, thinking to himself. "If I did ask him, ya know..." He looked back up to meet your eyes. You held nothing but support for him. "What would you do?"
You shrugged. You squeezed his hand again before you let it go so you could keep pushing the cart, sidling it up alongside the never ending row of tile. "I never really thought about it. But I'd be fine," you assured him with a smile. "I'd be happy, I promise."
You sat on a beach towel, sipping on sweet tea Mobius packed, and watched as he whooped and hollered on the jet ski. He did sharp turns, sometimes just rode along like he was a lone ranger going off into the sunset, or slowed to a stop so he could brush wind-swept hair off of his wet forehead and let the adrenalin settle.
Loki sat beside you, finding solace under the large umbrella from the sun. He'd watched Mobius for a good while when you first came out here, smiling to himself and almost hiding it as though he were embarrassed by it. Now, however, he just read a book, turning a page every now and then. You still noticed when he would look up at Mobius, perhaps pause for a moment, and then find the sentence he left off on.
It was after one of these moments that you spoke up.
"He likes you, you know." It was a knowing statement, almost coy. He glanced at you from the corner of his eye. "I see the way you look at him."
He raised his head, looking out at the water, out where Mobius was stopped and chatting happily with another jet skier. "And what about you?" he asked. He turned to look at you, finger keeping his place in his book. "I see the way you look at him, too."
You grinned, shaking your head. "We're not..." You bit your lip, looking away to find the words. "I still love him, but not like that. Too much has happened, too much's changed." When you looked back, his eyes held sadness, softened with pity for the lost love you once had. "I'll find someone, someday."
"Someday..." he repeated, murmured to himself.
He bookmarked his spot in his book, setting it aside and watching for a moment longer as Mobius weaved from side to side on the waves of the lake.
"You have my blessing, Loki," you teased, nudging him with your foot, "if that's what's holding you back."
He smirked, playfully nudging you aside with his shoulder. "I'm going to get you back for this," he promised light-heartedly. "You're schedule will be filled with worthy suitors, lined up to court you."
You laughed, at the way he phrased things in such a formal, Asgardian manner, and at the idea of Loki being your wingman. You didn't have time to tease him back, to hold him to his promise, as he stood up and made his way from under the shade of the umbrella to the lapping waves.
Loki waved at Mobius, signaled for him to come in. Of course, surprised at seeing the God away from his book, Mobius rode up to the shore, pulling slightly onto the beach and stopping the jet ski. He leaned to one side, brow furrowed as his mouth moved. You couldn't hear what was said, but you were sure it was along the line's of, "What's going on?" You watched with a smirk as Loki stepped into the water, ankle high, and grabbed Mobius by his cheeks to pull him into a searing kiss. Mobius's hands found purchase in Loki's black hair.
If they smiled into the kiss as they heard you cheering for them from the umbrella, pulled away just enough to murmur playful threats and schemes against you that you would never know of, well, who could say?

Tumblr media
AAAAAAAAAA MY LIL BABY IS ALIVE OH MY GOD  😭 😭 😭 😭I’m so sfdjhgsdjhfgse. When Klein introduces theirself to Seele and Sora just hjsdfbsdfkjh. Like the poor thing just went through a traumatic experience through ER and now having an existential crisis on the moon and without Mobius I’m so fuckin emo rn.  You can also talk to Klein in the base and just the whole “I’m processing a gift and since I can’t return it I have to live up to it” MAKES ME SO EMOTIONAL. Like idk why that made me just cry a lil bit thinking about it.  I’m going to pick up Klein, adopt them and take them on a vacation they need it SO BAD.
Funny lil side note tho, Klein is SO TINY. It looks like Shushang is using her hand to measure her height 😂
Tumblr media
Lyle PLEASE you are like SEVEN. You are not getting a GUN. Also you know shit’s about go down when Natasha brings the whole orphanage with her to the moon. Initially I was like “WTF Raven“, and then I remembered the whole project stigmata thing and I’m like oh yeah that’s happening still 💀
Tumblr media
World Serpent is wack as fuck tho but I'm enjoying the little details we’re getting about certain members. Grey serpent taking care of the kids and getting them whatever they want is cute. Also the lil note that he also smokes kids in tcgs is funny as hell. I was kind of shocked to hear that on the grey serpents is “friends” with Mr. Robo. Also Mr. Robo better accept Sora’s presents or else I’m coming for their mecha cheeks, ur coming back to Sanctuary >:(

fictional characters and why do i hold on to them
A while ago, I took a heartstopper test just for fun. I haven't even finished the show but I've read the books. And I got charlie as my match.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charlie is a brilliant person. He's smart, he's sweet, he's lovely. But he doubts himself way too often. When I read the book, I can relate to some things about Charlie. So when I got Charlie as my result and it said "are you okay?", I was like, No, but thanks for asking. :D
Then I binge-watched the rest of the show with my best friend. And then this scene happened.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's Tao, describing Charlie to Nick. I remember the moment I heard Tao said it, I felt exposed. I know he was not talking about me but it felt like he did. Some of my closest friends probably know how often I asked them whether or not I'm an annoying person. There are times when I feel like I'm so annoying and I deserve to be alone. Like I understand why people don't want to spend time with me. They probably can't stand being around me.
And then after I finished watching Heartstopper, I continued watching Loki which has officially become one of my favorite TV shows now. I can feel what Loki feels. His loneliness. His urge to have someone he can trust, someone who believes in him—someone who's just be there for him. Even though he's tough on the outside and seems like a heartless person, deep down he's a good person. And not everyone gets to see his sweet, good, soft side. And people usually judge him too early and too easily. The most painful scene I watched was that scene where Mobius punished Loki into this loop of Sif telling him that he deserves to be alone.
Tumblr media
I cried, really. Hearing someone said that to you is definitely hurtful. Especially when it comes from someone you know. It's painful to hear someone says that exact sentence over and over again. I hope you know you deserve to be alone and you always will be. Damn, it feels like nobody wants you and it hurts.
Something that's even more hurtful is Loki's reaction after God knows how many times he hears it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'M SOBBING. It's like Loki is saying it for me. Like he knows I can never say that out loud, that I can never admit that to anyone so he said it just to let me know that I'm not alone.
And then Mobius comes and says:
Tumblr media
At the moment, I feel like he was asking me too. Do you believe that you deserve to be alone? do I believe that I deserve to be alone?
I guess? I mean, I don't know. Maybe. Well, sometimes.
Well, honestly I don't know what I do and don't deserve anymore... How do I know that I deserve this? or that I don't deserve that?
I'm having a full on crisis here. Identity crisis. Existential crisis. But on the other hand, I have to live up to the expectation people put on me. It's exhausting to live around, pleasing and fulfilling people's expectation. That's not even living. It's like your life isn't even yours because you're trying so hard to do what people want you to do. You're so busy proving people's wrong that you don't even know whether or not is that what you want, or doing it makes you happy.
And when you don't fulfill that expectation, nobody wants you. And there you are again. Just by yourself. Completely on your own. No shoulder to cry on. No hands to hold your falling body. Nothing. Just you and you only.
I used to be a fun, cheerful person before some events took that away from me. I was once alive and now I forgot how to be. When you hurt so much in the past, you're just gonna start building huge walls around you and not letting anyone in. That's what happened with me. I stop trusting anyone and I'm having a huge trust issues toward everything. Because I'm scared. I'm scared to be hurt again. So I think I decided to pull myself out of everything, disconnected myself with a lot of people because as Sherlock said, Alone protects me.
Tumblr media
It really does—sometimes. Being alone means that you won't be so hurt when things don't go the way you wanted. Or when people don't treat you the way you thought they would. But the thing about being alone is that you'll start to forget how to act or react whenever someone's being nice to you. I don't know whether it's just me or everyone feels the same but I can relate to Sherlock when someone's being nice or saying nice thing to me, I'd go:
Tumblr media
Bottom line, I feel so connected with these fictional characters because sometimes I can relate to them. And to be frank with you, they're the ones that keep me sane the whole time. So if I have to make a thank you speech, I would thank every single fucking fictional characters whom I can relate to.
Thank you for being there when nobody else was.
Thank you for showing me that I'm not alone after all.
Thank you for saving my life.

Imagine the Earth was actually the form of a mobius strip. And like the astronauts were only fibbing when saying it's a sphere. And all photographs are merely photoshopped. But the only reason we don't fall off the edge is cause it's a never-ending loop..

So I've thought a little more about Mobius and the supposed morality or immorality of what Mobius does, and what the TVA does.
And while of course, kidnapping, execution, etc is all bad...we do learn in the end that having someone monitor a timeline may be a good thing, since it can devolve into chaos without.
Mobius believes he was created to do exactly what he is doing. While the audience knows this to be rubbish, HE believes it. And I think that's one reason why I don't see him as a villain and never will. He didn't create the TVA or the rules. He cannot remember a past or any life other than this. He believes this is his purpose.
Not to be flippant, but if any creation/invention (which is what Mobius thinks he is) had a soul or a voice-such as, I don't know, maybe a clock - that creation likely would not sit around pondering if keeping track of time was moral or immoral. It would not have an existential crisis-it would just do it's job.
This is what Mobius does, until he realizes it's a lie. He immediately resolves to change, and to make things right, once he realizes the truth.
If he did the opposite, and continued on the TVA's side, after knowing the truth, THAT would be the step in which he would become a villain.
But he does what I think is called a "heel faith turn" (so I just have to trust the word of two Lokis), and this (episode 4) is the point where the audience knows he's one of the best things that ever happened to Loki, and he can be trusted.
I will always love him for loving Loki.
Even if he does a double turn at the end of the series, I'll still love him. I've loved Loki for 12 years, anti-heroes are just my jam.

imagine when how loki felt when the crushing weight of an extreme sports level existential crisis wore off and he’s left with the knowledge that mobius (& probably other tva agents) have seen literally every moment of his life

Loki: I was having existential crisis during my first few days here at the TVA.
Loki: I was torn between wanting to murder Mobius and having him murder my ass.
Loki: I chose the latter, of course.
