About Holiday Exchanges (AKA The Rules)

This is a post version of our Rules page for easy access, as pages are not accessible from the Tumblr app for some users. If you're looking for our FAQ about the blog, please see here.

What is a Fic Exchange? A fic exchange is a game in which each person is assigned a recipient (“giftee”) to whom they will give a gift—in this case, for whom they will write a HanLeia fic. When you sign up, you’ll select at least one fandom and some tags and share some information about what’s on your fic wish list – favorite tropes or situations, favorite eras – and what things are dealbreakers for you (or just not your favorite thing). Your recipient will NOT know who you are until you reveal your gift (shh, it’s a secret!). You are encouraged to contact your giftee throughout the process via anon on Tumblr to send cheer and love, chat about Han/Leia, stoke excitement, and to get any info you need. The person assigned to write for you will also be contacting you as they craft your fic. Since we now do our exchanges via Archive of Our Own (AO3), the reveals will happen in two stages: first, fics will be revealed, but no one will know who wrote for whom. Then at the end of the exchange, we’ll reveal (and celebrate) all the participants.

Do all gifts have to be fics? Yes, this is a fic exchange! There is a 500 word minimum. If you wish to include fan art, a fan mix, or an edit with a fic of at least 500 words, you are welcome to do so.

Is there a word max? We suggest 5,000 words as a max, but aren’t strict about it. Please be mindful, however, that long fics can be a major time commitment for a recipient and sometimes even a challenge to read (especially since English is not the first language of all participants).

How does this whole process work? Do I post my fic on my blog or what? We’re doing our exchanges through Archive of Our Own (AO3) now. You’ll need both a Tumblr blog and an AO3 account to participate. (If you don’t have one of those, contact one of the mods; we’ll walk you through getting set up with what you need.) You’ll sign up sharing what you’d like to / be willing to write, and what you might be willing to receive from your assigned writer, including prompts, tropes, preferred fandoms (aka Original Trilogy, Sequel Trilogy, Legends, etc), and Do Not Wants. We’ll use those signups to match you up with someone for whom you’ll write, and someone who will write for you. After that, you will get your assignment: your recipient and the fandoms, tropes, prompts, and Do Not Wants they put in their sign-up form.

Once your fic is ready to go, you’ll submit it to the collection via AO3. On the fic reveal day, the fic collection will be revealed (without author names) and we’ll post a link on this blog. You’ll be able to see the gift that was written for you and have fun trying to guess who wrote what. On the author reveal day, the fic collection will be updated to reveal author names, and we’ll again post a link on the blog. Then you’ll have the opportunity to thank your writer, leave them a nice comment, and promote their fic (and the one you wrote, too) on your blog so we can share the joy.

Can I post my fic whenever it's ready, then? You can submit your fic to the AO3 collection whenever it's ready, yes. You cannot post your fic on Tumblr, FanFictionNet or any other sites until authors are revealed, though. However, please keep in mind that, once your fic is revealed, it will show up with the date you submitted it on, not the date it was revealed on. So if you submit your fic early, in December or early January, by the time it's visible it might be buried under newer fics in the search. You can choose the "Set a different publication date" option to avoid this issue.

I want to participate, but I only write AUs/OT/Disney canon/Legends… Please join us! All writers are welcome, and we believe all writers have that special recipient just waiting for them. Our sign-ups are designed to facilitate this, and the mods have been known to employ a little magic in their exchange pairings. ;)

I usually write with a friend. Can we sign up together? While we hope both you and your friend will consider participating, exchange pairings are intended to be individual. Grouping people as writers and recipients is hard enough as it is! It would also not be fair to the rest of participants who signed up individually. So, if you’re interested, we’d ask you both to sign up on your own—and you can always work with a cheerleader or a beta reader if you want (ask us if you need us to find you one!)

How will my Exchange Writer know what I like to read? How will the mods know I want to write what my recipient likes to read? All on the sign-up through AO3. You’ll pick tags, ratings, fandoms, etc that you’re willing to write for, and ones you’re happy to receive, as well as things you definitely don’t want to write or don’t want to read. You’ll share these preference through the Request (what you’d like to read) and Offer (what you’d like to write) sections of the AO3 signup form. You’ll be able to choose up to four fandoms, 10 additional tags, and whatever ratings you are comfortable with. We probably can’t match every tag or fandom in your signup – we can only guarantee matches on one fandom, two additional tags from our collection tagset, and one rating - but the more details you provide in your “Likes, Do Not Wants, and Prompts” and you “Would love to write & Will not write” sections, the easier it will be to make a great match with your writer and your giftee. So, for instance, if you’re only interested in reading fics that are set during or around the Original Trilogy canon, you’d select the Star Wars Original Trilogy fandom for your Request, and similarly for your Offer if that’s what you prefer to write. If you love the OT but enjoy throwing some Extended Universe (aka Legends) characters or situations in there, you could select Star Wars Original Trilogy AND Star War Legends. If you only like to write fluff, you can add “Fluff” (and other tags that appeal to you) as one of your tags in the Offer section. If you’re cool writing in the Sequel Trilogy era but you don’t want to write anything where a character dies, you can include the Sequel Trilogy as a fandom in your Offer but include “major character death” as one of the things you Will Not Write.

You will also be asked to give your writer three prompts to inspire them as they’re writing. These prompts could be situations (”Han Solo loves baths”), lines of dialogue (”I thought you’d never ask”), song lyrics or lines of poetry, or general themes or ideas you think fit well with Han and Leia and would like to read about.

Also, once you’re matched, we encourage you to communicate (anonymously, using the Tumblr ask function) with your recipient and your writer, so that’s a good time to chat, ask questions, get feedback on story ideas, etc.

What if there are some things - characters, pairings, squicks, plot points or tropes (like sexual assault or character death), even ‘verses- that I don’t want to read? There’s a place for that in the sign-up form – we want to know about your Do Not Wants specifically. This information will be shared with your writer, who will know to avoid them. The more detail you provide, the better.

Do I have to include prompts? What if I’m good with reading whatever? We do ask that you include at least three prompts in your signup form. Including a prompt is really helpful and kind to your writer—especially people who may not know you well, or who may be newer to fic writing. Sometimes even the most experienced writers just don’t know where to start, and a prompt really helps keep them from getting lost. Feel free to clarify if you’re not particularly attached to your prompt, and/or if you really, really would particularly love a certain prompt written. We do ask all readers to be flexible and understand that the writer may just not be inspired by a given prompt and may write something else! Again, you and your reader/writer can also communicate via anons, so you can also clarify this sort of thing there.

How will the mods pair me with a reader who will like what I want to write? We’ll match you up based on the fandoms, tags, ratings, likes, and will not writes you included in your signup. Plus magic. There’s definitely magic involved. Or the Force?

Do you guys have a masterlist of everyone who is participating? We don’t necessarily share that out with folks, but there is a way on AO3 to see who has signed up for the exchange. We do encourage participants to tag #hanleiacelebration on any posts they make about the exchange--including anon asks from their writers--so that everyone can join in the fun of guessing who might be writing for whom. (No need to @ us on these posts though- that’s too much for the mods to wade through!)

AAAHHH! It’s almost the deadline for submission already? Sign-ups were just yesterday, right? NOOOOO I’m not done! Can I get an extension? Please talk to the mods immediately if you’re having trouble getting done in time. We are going to check in with everyone about halfway through the writing time for the exchange, and that’s a great time to let us know if you’re struggling to finish, or if we can help you out by matching you with a beta reader or just a fic cheerleader. If it’s almost the deadline, again, contact us right away. We may be able to give you a short extension (we’re talking days, not weeks), but the sooner we know, the better we can help.

We also know that sometimes life happens and while you had every good intention of writing a fic, you’re not going to make it. The sooner you let us know, the sooner we can get your giftee a pinch-hitter to write their gift. And if you started a fic but didn’t finish in time and had to drop out, we hope you’ll still consider sharing your finished fic with the HanLeia fandom.

Please keep in mind: we are doing our best to give participants plenty of time to get their gifts together. This is an extremely busy time of year. Your recipient is relying on you. Please choose your projects based on what is realistic for you to accomplish in the time that you have. Overestimate the amount of time you will need, and still build in a few extra days as a cushion.

Keep in mind too that you can’t measure the quality of a fic by length. Short gifts are often much beloved.

If you’re having issues pacing yourself appropriately or knowing how much you can handle, find a fanfic friend to talk to about it or hit up a mod.

I’d like someone to check my work for grammar/spelling/word use before I post it. Contact the mods! We can find you a beta reader. We’ll be doing a call for folks willing to be beta readers or pinch hitters — if you’re interested in helping out with either of those, contact the mods when that call goes out.

I am under 18, but I’m not a kid! Why can’t I receive/write smut for my gift? Under U.S. law (where several of the mods are from), it is illegal for adults to provide minors (those under 18) with pornographic materials (and smut counts). It is also illegal for minors to send pornographic materials (smut still counts) to adults. Facilitating the exchange of smut between two minors is also almost certainly a no-no for adults under U.S. law.

Debating these laws isn’t relevant here—the fact is that we have to abide by them, or we put ourselves at risk.

If you are a minor, we support and respect you, but know that the NSFW content here is not and cannot be created for you.

If you participate in our exchanges, we trust you to be responsible and safe consumers. (Just as we trust our participants to tag appropriately.) If you're under 18, please DO NOT request smut or works of explicit nature. If you are a minor and we find that you requested something explicit (or that you lied about your age), this will result in your being banned from future exchanges. Please just be honest and respect the rules.

So if I’m under 18 and I read smut anyway…? Or write smut in my personal time…? The mods are all happy consumers and sometimes creators of smut—but we’re all over 18 and we don’t knowingly share smut or NSFW content with people who are under 18. We’re not here to judge, but we have to abide by the rules, many of which are in place to ensure that people under 18 can enjoy fandom spaces safely.

My recipient a) loves my NOTP, b) hates my other OTPs, c) promotes a genre of writing I hate, d) hates another genre of writing I do, and/or e) disagrees with me about some fundamental piece of Star Wars canon or fanon. :( How can I possibly write for them?

By putting words on a page!

We also recommend using Tumblr’s built-in Filtering option (under your Account Settings) to blacklist specific tags and content you don’t want to see posts for when you check their blog.

We’re all here for Han and Leia, and to share stories about Han and Leia with each other. You don’t have to be your recipient’s follower or friend (although if you do make friends through this, that’s great); you just have to write them a story. They get a nice story, and you get to say you have created something—something that will always have your name on it, something that you too can enjoy, and something that you can share with many people for years to come.

No, you don’t understand—my recipient likes [insert ship you hate/ship you consider immoral and/or illegal/other dealbreaker here]! We’re assuming your dealbreaker ship isn’t Han and Leia, or you wouldn’t have signed up. And you wouldn’t get matched together if you didn’t have at least one fandom and some tags that matched up. So you have something in common, at least; focus on that, if you can. Presumably you listed things you wouldn’t write in your Do Not Wants; you don’t need to write those. But shipping the “right” pairings isn’t a fair criterion for inclusion in the exchange, and the mods cannot spend their time ensuring only people who like the same stuff (outside of what they’re willing to write/read for the exchange) are paired with each other. So if you’re struggling with your match, try to look at it as an interesting writing challenge to take on.

If you are having significant struggles with this, please talk to a mod—but know that changes are only likely to be made in extreme cases.

I am blocked by my recipient. Eek! Please come talk to one of the mods ASAP.

Hello again, one and all!

It’s been a long, trying year. Many of us are still struggling to find snatches of normalcy in the chaos, and anything that gives us some semblance of routine is a comfort.

❄️With that in mind, we’re very pleased to announce that the Have A Happy Hobbit Holiday Gift Exchange 2020 is live! We’ve loved moderating this event for the last four years, and hope that our lovely fandom friends will join us once again for a little festivity and cheer.❄️

Sign-ups are open right now, and will remain open until October 23rd! We would appreciate boosts, as the time frame is a couple days shorter than last year, and we want to make sure than everyone who wants to participate has a fair shot at it. Spam those Hobbit-related tags, Precious!

On a slightly more somber note, we absolutely understand if the idea of a gift exchange is a bit overwhelming for some right now. A Happy 2021 to the Cap-IM Community!

We would like to wish everyone in the Cap-IM community a happy Gregorian New Year! Despite the global pandemic, we've been busy as ever, and we want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped us make 2020 another fantastic Steve/Tony year.

We hope that you've enjoyed participating in this year's events and that the community has been there for you in these trying times. Thank you to our wonderful community of commenters, creators, event mods, reccers, readers and signal boosters! We wouldn't be here without you, and we hope that we see you in 2021.

In May, we launched a brand new event: the Stony Trivia Quiz! Held online via Discord to bring our vibrant, Stony-loving community together, this was such a success that we ran a second quiz in October. We loved seeing people's guesses and enthusiasm in cheering the teams on! Also in May, a year after Avengers: Endgame screened, we looked back to 2012-era Stony with a special challenge, Fanwork Like it's 2012! Creators of all kinds got involved in this fest, with lots of fabulous prompts and fills. What a great way to reminisce about them good ol' fandom days, or try your hand at a classic prompt! We also ran all our usual challenges, with a return of the Tiny Reverse Bang as our mid-year event.

Two of our community mods, dapperanachronsim and faite, stepped down this year, and we welcomed on board a new addition to the comm mod team: Neverever. We have also made some changes around the comm with the aim of making it as welcoming, accessible and inclusive as possible. These have been based both on our observations as fandom culture has shifted, and on specific feedback — thanks to those of you who shared your thoughts with us!

We're still on that journey, and have some more improvements in the works! Also to that end, we would like to introduce our Community Check In survey. We recognise that it's been a while since we touched base with you all, and we'd appreciate your feedback immensely.

Navaan generously gifted us with another year of paid Dreamwidth account. If any of you feel inclined to give the community some paid time/DW points to help us keep things neatly organized, that'd be very appreciated — we went over the 1000-tag limit for free accounts back in 2018 and the tag list just keeps growing ♥

What will 2021 bring?

Well, lots of Marvel-ous new Stony content, for sure! Holiday Exchange and Community Gifts reveals are in progress, and Remix Relay and Remix Exchange participants are creating fabulous works as we type. Remix Madness will be opening on January 10th, and the 2021 Reverse Bang opened for artist submissions today. We'd like to make a special mention to our beloved RBB event, which is entering double digits this year as we celebrate its 10th anniversary!

The rest of our annual events will also be coming round again, with STONY Bingo, Comment Bingo and Kinkmeme still open throughout the year. We have also have what we hope will be a fantastic new event to keep you thinking about Steve/Tony across the multiverse — it was delayed by COVID, but we aren't letting that stop us and, of course, a we'll run a midyear event again, so keep your eyes peeled for an announcement!

Finally, a reminder: you are all welcome and encouraged to post content to the cap-ironman community platforms. We do ask that some basic info be listed in English if you're posting a fanwork, but you can post in any language that you like! We encourage everyone to post in the cap-ironman community — this is your space to talk about Steve/Tony and what you love about it, chat about the latest canon, as well as promote your works or run mini-events!

Multi-Fandom Event: Holiday Cheer 2020

This year has been rough for many of us. We have lost loved ones, lost homes, lost income. For many, this holiday season will be very different from the years that have come before. With that in mind, the Multi-Fandom Postcard Exchange is hosting a Holiday Cheer event where everyone who is interested can receive physical holiday cards and/or postcards in their mailbox. We hope these tangible messages will serve as a light in the darkness and help everyone feel less alone. Even if you do not wish to participate yourself, we appreciate any signal boosting!

The basics:

You do not need to send cards in order to receive them! We believe everyone deserves to be included, regardless of funds/ability/etc.

All cards and postcards will be non-religious.

Your address is PRIVATE--it is only shared with the MFPE’s mods.

Cut offs are 11:59 PM Central Standard Time for the dates listed. You can see our local time on the sidebar of our main Tumblr page while viewing the desktop site.

How to receive holiday cards & postcards:

Become a member of the Multi-Fandom Postcard Exchange.

Once you have an MFPE fan number or temporary fan number, sign up to receive holiday cards & postcards here.

Recipient sign up is November 1st through November 7th, 2020. Everyone who signs up within this time frame is guaranteed to receive a package of cards from other MFPE members. Additional sign ups will be accepted through November 14th; though we will try to accommodate everyone, late sign-ups are not guaranteed to receive anything.

Every effort will be made to have the cards delivered to you before the last weekend of December.

How to send holiday cards & postcards:

Submission Period (no sign up required): - If you live in North America or Europe: November 8th thru 30th - If you live on any other continent: November 8th thru 14th

Create your cards and/or postcards. Requirements: - Either use commercial cards/postcards or create your own (northern hemisphere) winter holiday themed cards (for whatever part of the world you are in). They must be non-religious in both theme and text as well as family-friendly (no cursing). We originally wanted everyone to be able to choose which kinds of cards they would like to receive so as to include religious cards and adult humor, but due to time constraints, we had to set limits to create the kind of cards everyone can enjoy. - Clarification re: theme. Most holiday-related things are fine (Santa, presents, reindeer, etc.). Please do not use nativity scenes (birth of Jesus), etc. - Clarification re: text. "Happy holidays,” “season’s greetings,” etc. are fine. Please do not use “merry Christmas” (even though many people celebrate it as a secular holiday, not everyone celebrates it). Please do not use religious verses or hymns or quotes from holiday songs that are clearly religious. - Write at least one sentence of your own text and sign the card with either your real first name or your fandom name. - You can include a personalized insert if you’d like. When sending holiday cards, some people send out family photos/updates/etc. You can choose to include anything you’re comfortable with. Photos of pets are always welcome! - Make as many or as few cards/postcards as you’d like. They do not all have to be the same. They will be distributed evenly between those who sign up to receive a package of holiday cheer.

Package all of your holiday cards/postcards together and send them to the MFPE’s PO Box. - You do not need to include envelopes, but if you have envelopes you’d like to donate to us, we certainly appreciate it! - You only have to pay the postage to get the package to us; we pay the postage to get everything to the recipients.

IMPORTANT! Email us as soon as you can and let us know what date you put the package in the mail and how many items you sent us. This is so we can make sure we have everything before we start separating them out for everyone.

7KPP Secret Santa 2020 Logistics

Hello, my dears! I’m finally here with the logistics post. My apologies for the delay; I’ve been pretty out of it with the passage of time this winter break, and I had finals and stuff until the 22nd.

Anyway, in light of some chatter on the Discord and my own personal severe case of procrastination, we will be delaying the deadline/posting day until January 15th, 2021. I’m sorry for the late notification, if you have been rushing to get your present ready, but hopefully this extra time will be helpful for everyone!

Now, the general logistics:

What: The Actual Gift Exchange Part Where: Here on tumblr.com! When: January 15th, 2021, at whatever time in whichever timezone you live in. The posts will be a bit scattered over the course of the day, but that’ll make it a bit of a surprise when your gift gets posted/seen! How: When posting, please mention (with the @ so they get a notification) of the person you’re gifting, if you can. If you can’t mention them (which happens occasionally, thanks tumblr), then try to send them an ask to let them know it’s been posted. Please use the tag “7kpp secret santa 2020″ or “7kpp secret santa” when posting, since I’ll be tracking those tags so I can reblog all the gifts here!

As before, please don’t stress about your gift! The hope is to spread cheer around, particularly with 2020 the way that it was, so this isn’t supposed to be stressful in any way!

Meet the Mods!

Akamine_chan created The Fandom Snowflake Challenge back in 2012 as a way to remind herself “why I loved fandom so much”. Over the years the challenge itself has come to mean a lot to many of us, so by way of introduction some of the mods for this year have written about what the Fandom Snowflake Challenge means to them and why they are excited about it.

Gillo: Hi, I'm Gill (my surname begins with O, hence my super-original username!) This is my first time helping out with the Snowflake community and I'm really looking forward to seeing what crops up. I've loved watching from the fringes in times past, and I'm very keen to get to know new folks, fandoms and ideas this year.

Seleneheart: This will be my third year modding this comm. Before I started modding, I sort of participated in this challenge but wasn't very consistent. When I decided to really commit myself to doing this back in 2019, I signed up to be a mod as well (go hard or go home!). The work I've put into this comm has always been returned a thousand-fold! I've made new friends, found new obsessions, and thought about things in ways I never had before. After this disastrous year, I feel like I need the warmth and comfort of fandom more than ever before. I hope that among these challenges, you can find something that will warm your heart and soothe your soul.

Spikedluv: Hello to all returning and new Snowflakes! I love Snowflake and I’m thrilled to be part of the group bringing Snowflake to you again this year. Especially after the year we've all just had. The best thing about this challenge is that it reminds me of all the great things about fandom. The feeling of community. The comments and feedback. The squee that comes with discovering new fandoms and new fic and new friends. And while Snowflake only lasts for one month, these are things we can take with us into the rest of the year. As I’ve said previously, Snowflake has taught me that I need to be the change I want to see in fandom and gets me pumped up to go forth and be a more active participant.

Sjh2009: Hi I'm Sue (fandom name StarbucksSue). I've enjoyed taking part in Snowflake on several occasions in the past but this is my first time helping out. I always love to see the answers to the challenges and getting to know new friends and new fandoms. It's been a hard year for many of us and I think the Snowflake Challenge is a lovely, positive, way to get the year started.

I'm looking forward to all the challenges and seeing everyone that participates. It's amazing to see the energy that Snowflake generates... it's a great start to a new year!

Mizface: Hello hello! *waves* I'm so pleased to be a part of Snowflake this year. I was unable to participate at the level I wanted to last year, so I'm thrilled to have more time now. The Snowflake challenges always push me in the best way, and bring me so much happiness, both in working on them and even more in seeing what everyone else brings to them. It's an inspiring, heartening, wondrous burst of positive energy, which is an amazing way to start the year (which, I don't know about you, but I seriously need). About two month ago started a new Sims 4 account which has a Hetalia character as townies. I don’t have all the packs for Sims 4 but I do use a lot of Mods to do this. Most of the house building I found online.

Holiday Event - Day 5

“Coming Home for Christmas” with Crocodile

winner: @crylittlebird

warnings: two curse words, modern AU setting (hope that’s ok!)

Crocodile sighed to himself. The snowy atmosphere outside the window couldn’t even compare to the cold feeling in his heart as he gazed at the picture of you on his desk. He bit down onto his cigar in frustration, an aching in his chest as he was well aware of the pain he was causing you.

Another Christmas alone for you. No one should experience what you have for the past two years now, and all Crocodile could do was clench his fists and grit his teeth as he stared down at the mountains of paperwork on his desk. Was this even worth it?

You had smiled when he told you that he’d be working during the holidays, leaving for a business trip, and unable to be home with you for Christmas. You had hugged him as you sent him away, waving goodbye as he boarded the plane. But he knew you better than that, he knew how upset you really were. He didn’t have to see the tears to know you were at currently home crying. Why did you even put up with him?

“Daz...” Crocodile’s voice broke the tense silence, calling out for his assistant in the dimly lit office.

“Yes sir.” Daz reported immediately to his door.

“Fetch me my coat, we’re going home.”

Though a part of Daz wanted to interject, remind Crocodile why it was a terrible idea to do so, Daz also wanted to spend time with his own family. He had grown frustrated by the exhaustive hours of paperwork they were subjugated to while the higher ups enjoyed their lavish holiday vacations with family.

As Daz helped Crocodile with his coat, the two abandoned the paper work, grabbed their things and rushed towards the exit. Crocodile was unsure of what came over him in the next moment, but amidst seeing the somber workers half-heartedly working on their tasks, he grew even more fed up. After thinking about how lonely you were, Crocodile decided no one should feel that type of pain on Christmas.

“Everyone, go home. Enjoy the holidays with your families.” Crocodile bellowed out as the team cheered. It didn’t take long for word to get out the higher ups as a board member started ringing his cell. Crocodile ignored it, encouraging everyone out the door. Normally Crocodile could care less about other people’s problems. But he was their CEO damnit, and he wouldn’t let them people suffer like this.

“Thank you, sir! We truly appreciate this!” The workers called out, waving at their CEO as they got in their cars to rush home.

“That was a good deed, sir.” Daz mentioned casually. He was also genuinely surprised at Crocodile’s sudden selfless acts.

“Yeah, yeah call me freaking Santa Claus. It’s a Christmas miracle.” He rolled his eyes, “Now, we need to board the next plane stat before the board starts ambushing us.”

Daz modded, reaching for his cell phone, “I’ll get right on that, sir.”

Crocodile leaned against the wall and pulled out another cigar. Just thinking of your smiling face when you get to wake up to him on Christmas morning was enough to make himself smile slightly, heart warming despite the freezing temperatures outside. He checked his watch, noting that if they were to board in the next hour, he’d make it home to you around 3 AM. The excitement of surprising you was making him bask in the holiday spirit, until Daz broke the news.

“Sir, all flights are down at the moment due to the snow storm.”

Crocodile bit his cigar in half, “All flights? Are you sure? So many planes and pilots and you’re telling me not one of them can fly in the goddamn snow?!”

Daz nodded simply, “The next one won’t be leaving until tomorrow morning.”

Crocodile could feel himself losing his cool, but he wouldn’t let this be the end as he hurriedly rushed towards the street to wave down a taxi, “Well come on, we haven’t got all night!”

The taxi ride was bumpy, awkward, and crowded as Daz and Crocodile attempted to make themselves comfortable in the tight back seat. Not to mention the driver was chatty and obviously upset about not being able to make it home for Christmas, complaining about his salary and how he couldn’t afford anything nice for his daughter this year. Crocodile’s leg bounced with impatience as he watched the buildings pass by, wishing the driver would just floor it already.

The taxi came to a stop as it took them as far as it could and Crocodile grew frustrated. They were still at least two hours away from your shared home. Even in the midst of his anger, Crocodile threw the driver a hefty tip, “Here, buy something nice for your little one when you can make it home.”

The driver smiled widely, a few tears in his eyes as he accepted the money graciously, “Thank you sir!”

The clocks rung midnight and a sinking feeling was settling in his chest, what if he couldn’t make it home to you in time? As he and Daz were dropped off, they studied the streets for more taxis. All seemed to either be busy or at home as the quiet, snow filled streets were completely empty of any and all cars.

Crocodile was becoming increasingly restless, frustrated, and Daz could tell. He looked up to see an elevated train station. Daz nudged at Crocodile and pointed; maybe this would be their ticket home. The pair rushed up the stairwell to an empty station. No passengers, no trains, no ticket collector.

Crocodile rushed towards the booth, banging on the window as if it’d get someone’s, anyone’s attention. No one was in the booth, however, and a sign that said “will resume normal business hours on December 26th” made Crocodile want to crush the entire booth into pieces. What was he going to do now? There was no transportation available at these hours, how could he make it home to you?

“Sir, where are you going?” Daz questioned, watching as Crocodile descended the stairs.

“I guess I’m walking home.” Crocodile whipped out another cigar, now smoking two at once as he was at his wit’s end. If he walked fast enough he’d probably make it there before you woke up.

“Sir! Look!”

Crocodile almost kept walking, ignoring Daz’s excited calls until he heard the sound of a train approaching. Without even thinking twice about it, he ascended the stairs with haste, looking down the tracks in disbelief as they watched the sole train approach them.

Daz smirked slightly at his boss, “A Christmas miracle for you, sir.”

Crocodile chuckled, amused at his partner’s cheesy statement. As the train stopped before them, the door opened, “You fellas need a ride home?”

The sun began peaking through the clouds as Crocodile trudged down the sidewalk, eyes set on your shared home. When it was finally in sight, he couldn’t help but pick up his pace, though he was exhausted at this rate. He fumbled with the keys, a strange sense of anxiety mixed with the cold caused his fingers to shake as he opened the door as quietly as possible.

Shaking off his coat, he tiptoed up the stairs, hoping to catch you asleep in the bedroom. He was a bit shocked to not see you anywhere in there, however, so he rushed back downstairs. As he walked into the kitchen, he felt something press against his back.

“Turn around, thief.”

A small chuckle reverberated in Crocodile’s chest as he stuck his hands up in surrender, turning around slowly to greet you. You stood there, face contorted in a serious manner with a baseball bat tight in your grip, ready to swing. Until you realized who exactly was standing right in front of you.

“Merry Christmas, darling.” He smiled widely.

Tears filled your eyes as you dropped the bat with a loud thud, instantly jumping up to hug him tightly into you. He kissed you warmly, embracing your body as tight as possible into his, savoring this sweet moment with you.

“H-how are you here? Didn’t you have a business trip? I wasn’t expecting you home for another-“

He silenced you by grabbing your face and kissing your forehead. His thumbs brushed away the tears that cascaded down your cheeks, “You don’t deserve to be alone like this. I’m going to spend Christmas with the love of my life and no one can stop me. I’ll never leave you during the holidays again, my love.”

You smiled, relaxing into his warm hands, reaching up to hold his face in your own, “I love you so much. You’re my Christmas miracle.” You pulled him in for one last kiss, both silently agreeing that this would be the best Christmas ever.
