REF SHEET CEPT NOT REALLY A SHEET BUT STILL OF Z‼️‼️‼️ my one piece oc.... he is just a little guy that deserves the world ( + tried to imitate oda's style a little bit lol)
i am honestly too scared to like make a full on. Lore cause writing is hard (especially with one piece there's so many characters you need to consider- esp creating a new island with a villain and other important characters hfkwhdkwhdjwn)
you can read a little bit about Z here: info 1 / info 2
but uhh in short: Z is a 13 y/o boy that the strawhats meet on a small island. he strangely looks like younger ace which startled luffy. but at some point, they grew a brotherly bond. Z had always played the older sibling role to other children suffering as much as he was. so he kind of needed an older sibling to look up to and learn that it is ok to rely on others- especially if they are willing to offer to lend you a hand. since meeting luffy and his crew, Z was inspired to set out to sea someday and write incredible stories like the books he had read and helped him live on

You seem to be really bitter that people listen to Captain Flash, which is not a good look for you.
So a thing that a lot of people reading Bleach don't really understand about Momo's character is that she isn't just this crazy obsessed super stalker of Aizen. She was just someone who had admired the image he specifically made to be admired, and he had went out of his way to make sure she specifically would view him as infallible because he saw her as a tool. Same with Gin and Izuru, and it's adjacent to the reason Aizen made sure Renji went to the 11th division (because he wasn't as easy to manipulate and Aizen thought sending him to the 11th would get him killed). Aizen went on to use Momo's admiration for him to make her act as a decoy for Toshiro, who was one of the few people catching on that something more was happening regarding Central 46's orders and was the one to directly confirm their deaths. But even with her raising her blade against her childhood friend, Momo was still horrified from the knowledge that some part of her was willing to hurt someone she values so deeply, and she profusely apologizes to Toshiro - which he handwaves away because he knew that she wasn't of right mind when she attacked him and had already forgiven her. That doesn't mean that Aizen's manipulations of her were erased, though - she still believes the image he had set up was real, even after he stabbed her for her "uselessness," and she begs Toshiro to save Captain Aizen. Even with all of this however, being given time to let her body and mind recover let her gather up the courage and drive to fight Aizen, even with her still habitually referring to him as her captain. And her battle prowess and worthiness of the seat of lieutenant is proven when she nearly single-handedly forces three lieutenant-level Arrancars to Resurreccion by performing high-level Kido right under their noses - while she is taken out by Ayon soon after, her capabilities as someone who had only recently recovered are nothing to sneeze at. And although Tite Kubo has done little with her directly since, Momo has been given more connections over both timeskips - particularly with her new captain Shinji - that allowed her to move one from the traumas Aizen inflicted onto her, and her journey is really moving if you pay attention to what happening with her. It's what makes her my favorite Bleach character along with Toshiro, even if no one makes any merch of her rip

"Back then, when I was admitted to elementary, I realized there was something different about me, and was doomed to keep pretending to be the role assigned to me. The moment I transformed into the Pink, I was able to be true to myself, screaming out loud, defying the doomed fate, that's what it felt like...I think the last time I got this kind of feeling was when I came out to you, that even though I was born a male, I've always identified myself as a girl. Back in eighth grade, remember? Nowadays it's better known as being transgender. Thank you for accepting me for who I am."

A study on prosecutors -- (previous) (next)
Now we move to the Bailey and it's Reaper.
Barok is such a complicated, difficult character to describe. He's initially presented as a racist, cold man, determined to strike us down at every opportunity. But even in his first appearance we get a glimpse to the depths hiding inside this man. Perhaps the game doesn't do as well a job to endear us to him past the whole racism thing, but it does its damndest and it worked on quite a few of us! So let's see what they did right and where they could have gone a bit easier on making him our hated opponent.
We first hear about Barok from whispers around the courthouse. Stronghart told us our client had no one else to defend him and this is part of the reason why; no one survives a trial against the Reaper. If we want to fulfill Kazuma's wish, however, we have to go into this trial. We have to do the unthinkable and prove our client innocent in spite of all the odds stacked against us.
Going with a vampire vibe for Barok was a really good idea, I think. How much more Victorian era can you get than a nobleman who's secretly a vampire? We're told he's making his return to the courts on this case from a five year absence, an odd little note of intrigue that won't get paid off until later. Much, much later. But it sets him up as someone who isn't necessarily here for the glory of it. It sets him apart from other prosecutors we've faced in the series, as someone who has both won and lost his fair share of trials. He's someone with a focus on the corrupt, on those who have the money to dodge the law rather than face it. This is a really smart move, too. Despite his referring to us and others with that typical nobleman racism, he has a surprisingly solid foundation on which he does his work. He's fighting corruption rather than taking part in it. He's here to enact justice on those who wish to escape it rather than on those who are mostly innocent.
It really gives us our first proper dilemma for Ryuunosuke: our client isn't as innocent as he first seems. There's something wrong, foul work at play here, yet we're forced to go along and use these forged bits to prove our case. We're forced into a not guilty verdict even if we choose not to turn a blind eye to the trickery at play.
Of course Barok would see us in a foul light after that. Of course all his assumptions about us would be seemingly proved true. No matter our word, our choices, we still use forgeries to prove a guilty man innocent. Our ignorance is no excuse for what we've done.
It rattles Ryuunosuke, though, to have his trust taken advantage of so handily like that. It's more of the same for Barok, but it truly does disturb Ryuunosuke.
Barok facing that burning carriage and McGilded still inside with his stony expression, it is chilling. It almost asks us to suspect him of this murder. It asks us to consider his moniker once more, *Reaper of the Bailey*. Hence why, no matter how close Ryuunosuke gets to trusting Barok as we go along, something always holds him back. Learning the truth behind this incident doesn't clear up any of the doubt surrounding our Reaper. A clever way to keep us guessing about Barok's true motivations and character right up until the reveal.
Our next trial is an interesting one, a step backwards both for Ryuunosuke and for Barok. Those racist tones rear their ugly head as Barok takes this case not only to prove Souseki's guilt, but also to face us once more. We've intrigued him and he refuses to admit to it, but he wants to see if what he saw in our first encounter was really true or not. He wants to see if we're as worthy of chasing as every other criminal he's had to fight down.
(A personal aside, but I really did keep to my word in the McGilded trial. I may have agreed with Barok that there should be doubt cast upon these new and sudden changes to the evidence, but I stuck to my guns and pleaded for McGilded to be found innocent. It really coloured a lot of how I viewed these next two cases, of how I perceived Barok's thoughts on me during our next two battles.)
Once we get into the trial, we are faced once more by our cold and collected Reaper. He's prepared to crush us into nothing, but we refuse to yield. Ryuunosuke is a wolf, and the truth is his prey. He digs and claws at the smallest of details, leans as far over his desk as he can without vaulting himself over it, in order to expose every lie that stands before him.
And though he is loathe to admit as much, Barok starts to see our potential.
We go on wild theories and come up with insane postulations, but Barok encourages us. He challenges us to prove our arguments with the appropriate evidence, he despairs at how every illogical piece makes actual perfect sense in the picture we construct, but he never forces us to back down. He, too, can see the truth we're fighting for. He'll make us work for it, but even he can't deny Souseki's innocence. A fellow wolf is best suited when spotting one of their same ilk.
It's here, right here, where Barok starts to trust our insight. It's here, right here!!, where Barok spies our true potential and thinks to himself, yes. He can trust us to claw out the truth in any case we take on.
It's why, from then on, he seeks us out. He has to know, has to watch as our potential reaches its full shine. He has to witness us, someone from a country he's long since sworn vengeance against, prove all he's ever believed wrong.
I was definitely better suited to seeing his turn from the start. I liked him pretty much immediately the moment I saw him.
But his turn is right there buried in all his denial and wrongly placed anger. They had to work overtime to get his turn in as well, seeing as we only get three cases against him in the first game. They did a great job burying their lead, but from these two cases alone I called his character growth word for word. I knew that he believed in us and saw us as a worthy attorney. A partner, even, in weeding out the truth. I knew it and it still gets me hype as all hell thinking about it.
That, however, is for later. Back to our next case, the trial of Gina Lestrade.
There is so much riding on this case, from all the government secrets we drag out from the shadows to our own client's life to the absolute betrayal of our first ever trial here in the Bailey. Barok, who knows that McGilded was never innocent, gets to watch Ryuunosuke come to terms with this fact himself. And Ryuunosuke's refusal to shy away from that fact, I think, helps Barok in accepting how we have to work together to get the whole truth of what happened here. He may not want to show that he respects us, that he sees our potential, but it shows through as he allows us every chance we need to catch Gregson in his lie. It shows through in how he proclaims that the Yard have no authority here, it is only the truth which matters. We definitely wouldn't have been able to save Gina from her fate without his helping us along. It's such a great look into his true character without going into the whole reveal, I love everything about it.
This leads into our final scene with him, where he vagues about how he's got a storied past and how we shouldn't really take it personally. Ryuunosuke doesn't understand what he's getting at, but it's nice to see him try to explain that it's not us specifically whom he hates. It's a little awkward, a little confusing, and incredibly intriguing.
It's a great lead in to the next game, really. It's the first time we speak to him outside of a trial setting, as brief as it is.
A small detour: the Randst Magazine bits and the dlc trial. The one extra Barok appears in for the first game is so hilarious. He straight up has a nightmare dream about having to try and prove Herlock guilty, it's so funny. The way he views Ryuunosuke is so spot on that his slight exaggeration barely even registers. It's a great little insight into his perceptions on these characters! And it's silly as an added bonus. The dlc trial is so good we were robbed the both of them for the rerelease. For one, it's a conflict mostly between Barok and Herlock by way of Iris. Ryuunosuke acting as Herlock's trial aid is really hilarious I cannot sell this enough. Barok's vibe against Herlock being *nemesis mine* while Herlock in turn regards him as a silly goose is also very, very good. Barok really does become silly in this lil trial, too, having two unique animations around pouring his wine and getting caught up in all of Herlock's bullshittery just like anyone else. And the cherry on top, it takes place on his birthday!! We have an actual birthday for a canon character acknowledged in-between games!! We were robbed, I tell you. Robbed!!
Anyway. Back to case two of our next game.
This takes place in a flashback, so Barok's trust in us isn't as strong as it was in the final case of the first game. This case taking place immediately after Souseki's first case is a lot of fun, though I really feel bad that the guy had to deal with two trials in a row, both headed by Barok. Since Barok is gruffer once more, his banter with us is back to giving us a lot less leeway than we had in our last trial. I, for one, still find it a lot of fun. And we get a second trial day on top of everything! This trial is more of a way to set up what we should expect from here on out, because things get even more excellent from here.
Case 3 is, of course, the proper return of our boy Ryuunosuke. We get to visit Barok in his office and everything about this is excellent. Ryuunosuke and Iris poking around, saying whatever they want while Barok is literally right there, is such a funny dynamic. And Barok's genuine moment of concern he lets slip through for his university friend, along with his genuine shock at Ryuunosuke being the one to take on his case, it's a great show of how far Barok has come from the last we remember of him. Some part of him realises that, with Ryuunosuke heading Albert's case, it means Albert truly is innocent.
And of course Barok would want to take on Albert's trial himself. That's his friend whom most would laugh straight out of the courtroom. Barok has loyalty in him, this is such a great way to show it before it really comes into play.
Of course, special mention to the dialogue you get if you show your armband to him in his office. His reaction is so gentle and sorrowful that it struck me so deeply. Barok understands what we're going through. He understands the weight of a ghost looming over us and all that legacy we end up shouldering in our drive to come to terms with that grief. Ryuunosuke being concerned for his well being despite not understanding why himself is right actually agh.
The trial itself is great fun as well. Barok fighting to prove his friend's guilt while also defending his friend's work is such a clever play on both his and the writing's part. We have to fight tooth and nail, reclaim our wolf claws and teeth, in order to gain some ground until Susato arrives to help. We regretfully have to prove Albert's science to be bogus, but it allows us another investigation day.
And what an investigation it is, complete with the second most bonkers dance of deduction with our very silly friend Herlock Sholmes. (The first is the soap thing I cannot get over that HERLOCK MY DUDE WHAT EVEN.) But our focus lies in the trial's second day, where Barok really gets to have fun again as we tear open some more government secrets.
It's so funny how they let Ryuunosuke back into the courts only for him to immediately start uncovering more government lies. Barok helps him along, too, getting a great moment where he calls Dr Sithe to the stand with the declaration that no authority can restrict the truth from getting out. It calls back to the final case of the first game where he doesn't cow to Gregson and it's such a great show of his unwillingness to back down. He, too, is a wolf with the truth in his teeth, and he refuses to let it escape his grasp. Just the same as Ryuunosuke.
Once the trial ends and Albert's innocence is proven, however, Barok calls us back in. Barok knows by now he can trust Ryuunosuke. He can really trust us. It's time for all the secrets and lies to come to and end. It's time to start explaining some demons, to take a step towards facing them. So he unmasks the Professor for us to see and reveals to us a deep scar on his heart. We've learned some of the details, but we've yet to learn the full truth. And we won't until we get to our next case.
Everything has been leading to this moment. Barok is arrested for Gregson's murder and we have to defend him.
Ryuunosuke wondering how he can trust Barok, if he can even trust Barok, despite his insisting on taking Barok's case is so telling. Ryuunosuke all ready trusts Barok so much, yet he doesn't quite recognise it yet. And Barok in a perfect parallel refuses to allow Ryuunosuke to take on his defence until literally the last minute. And it's such a cute little detail to put in that he's worried about Albert and received a letter from him. Another step towards making him less the creature we've mostly seen him depicted as so far. When he does acquiesce, though, he recognises that he has to place his full trust in us. No matter how terrifying it is, he knows we'll make sense of the absolutely ridiculous scenario surrounding this case.
He doesn't yet realise how deep this is going to go, but how could he? Ryuunosuke might dig out the absolute truth against all odds, but Barok has no reason to suspect this goes all the way back to his brother and the Professor.
Kazuma is out for blood, which makes sense even before we have all the pieces. His father was killed, was scapegoated as a mass murderer, and Barok was the one to prove his father the murderer. Barok strangely doesn't seem to hold any ill will towards Kazuma at all, though. It speaks of their being some sort of actual camaraderie built up during the time Barok was mentoring him. And Barok has to give what seems, on the surface, the most ridiculous testimony so far.
He trusts us to find the truth, though. So we do and keep digging and digging and digging.
Everything about this case is revealing painful truths. It's the question of if this truth is better off staying hidden away, considering how much it hurts those related to it. A man nearly killed himself over it. Gregson was killed for it. Kazuma nearly killed for it. And the Reaper haunting Barok for all this time has been, in actuality, more accurately his brother than he ever knew.
It's a difficult truth to confront, but Barok is willing to do so. He's seen us claw open so many secrets all ready, he's seen us tear open the truth to the bone, and he's willing to help us rip up this terrible, comfortable lie he's been living with for too long.
Watching everyone join forces to take down Stronghart is the exact catharsis we needed to end all this. It's matched, of course, by Barok's speech recognising us as the wolf we are.
Anyway yeah Barok is excellent I love him I wish him much happiness as Iris' grumpy uncle.

I know I don't post about bnha too much (or at all, really), but my fav ship is TodoDeku actually. I'm saying this because I just remembered I have an au in my drafts where Todoroki and Momo have a private book club, which is just them both picking books to read and recommend to the other and talking about stuff (cofcof crushes cofcof), and find out about the light novels with the "villainess noble girl" trope. —If you don't know what that is, it's like, a female character that is aware of her doomed fate or everyone thinks she's evil (be it true or not). An example is Katarina Claes (HameFura), or Iris from Common Sense of the Duke's Daughter—
Anyways, he starts to see parallels between his novel's characters and the people around him and his conspiracy theorist brain believes it's not a coincidence. Momo gets dragged to his shenanigans, and then the two of them start following people around trying to unveil the mystery. I think Uraraka and Jirou join them later? That's about it, I think.
Oh. The "villainess girl" character was either Izuku or Shinsou. I can't remember. But it was a Tododeku.

#(ramblings in tags. dont read if u dont wanna see criticism of female character writing in naruto)#(i think im pretty chill but it's still negativity so look away if u dont wanna see this)#my hot take (?) is that the naruto author is 100% a misogynist and that HAS to factor into your analysis of his female characters#im only getting thru the anime in increments bc the way theyre written is so frustrating#and fandom discourse surrounding them isnt great either#(i already know the gist of how it ends bc the ending is infamous for being hated so idc about spoilers)#from what ive seen everyone generally knows the female chars are written terribly and arent respected by the author#but dudebros hate them for gross misogynist reasons#and in contrast fans of those female characters get so defensive that they loop right back around to being misogynist#idk how to explain it but its odd seeing fans say “its empowering actually!” for the female chars to end up in miserable marriages#with less combat involvement than the male chars despite taking up the same profession/training#like yeah in a vaccum these conclusions are fine and completely neutral. but we're not in a vacuum. this was written by a male misogynist#how do i articulate that u can personally like characters w/out pretending misogyny didnt play a role in their development + conclusions#and critiquing the way female characters end up is not misogyny. its basic media analysis#like if i were to apply this to MHA i would say Midnight's death was poor writing in comparison to Nighteye's (narratively similar)#bc it supposedly was supposed to give development to the class. particularly Momo since Momo was the one she was rooting for#however hori did not bother showing more interactions between Midnight and her so it falls flat. her death even happens offscreen#and Momo wasnt there to confront the ppl who murdered her. it was Mina. so Midnight's arc wasnt completed satisfyingly#her death ends up becoming meaningless for Momo's development and purely for shock value so the war has stakes#as opposed to Nighteye and Mirio having a fleshed out relationship/backstory and a proper goodbye#there was a difference in the way the author wrote male mentorships and female ones. critiquing that is fine#now imagine if some Midnight fans went “its misogynist of you to downplay her death. she was noble and heroic and a girlboss”#it misses the point completely bc they interpret writing criticism as shade against her as a person#anyway thats what a lot of female character discourse in naruto feels like#and thats not even mentioning the cesspool of dudebro sexism but i avoid them so i dont see it as much#anyway in conclusion naruto would probably be a great series if the author wasnt a raging misogynist#sorry for the rant#my post

THINGS THEY DO THAT YOU FIND CUTE (CLASS 1-A) - [PT. 1]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
characters ; izuku midoriya, katsuki bakugou, shoto todoroki, eijiro kirishima, denki kaminari, tenya iida, hanta sero, mina ashido, tsuyu asui, ochaco uraraka, kyoka jirou, momo yaoyorozu
g/n reader, no warnings.
Tumblr media
✮⋆˙ - izuku midoriya : izuku physically cannot stand still. he has to be moving somehow, but he isn't really aware of this. he tends to have a habit of playing with his hair, whether it's running his fingers through it or twirling his finger around a few strands, you find it being the cutest thing ever. you never point it out though, because you know he would burst into a flustered mess and stop whenever he catches himself doing it. you find it cute, but he would find it so embarassing.
✮⋆˙ - katsuki bakugou : we all know this man is great in the kitchen. so, whenever you catch him cooking a meal for you, (or himself, mostly himself...) all you could do is smile. on one occasion, you were out running errands. you had come across an apron with the lettering "kiss the cook" on it. you picked it up with a smirk, imagined how he'd look in it, but you had figured he would just scold you for it. so, you put it back.
✮⋆˙ - shoto todoroki : he's so chronically offline. whenever you ask to do something trendy with him, he tilts his head at the idea and raises a brow at you. whenever you use any form of slang, he's just as confused. you try to explain, he still doesn't get it. urban dictionary is his best friend. the reason you don't explain this kind of stuff to him is because of that silly, clueless face he makes when he has no idea what you're talking about. it's a foreign language to him, but he tries his hardest to understand you.
✮⋆˙ - eijiro kirishima : kiri loves to manhandle you. tossing you over his shoulder, tackling you, throwing you onto the couch, anything like that leaves you a giggling mess. he knows you love it, too. he enjoys it just as much as you do.
✮⋆˙ - denki kaminari : he is always smiling. that has to be one of your favorite things about him. he has the teethiest smile after he does literally anything, especially when he does things to impress you. he has the most contagious smile you've ever seen. you love to see him smile, and you would do anything to make sure he's always cheesing.
✮⋆˙ - tenya iida : he is so damn respectful. i know we all are aware of this fact already but i want to put emphasis on it. walking down the street, he'd always help an elderly person. walking in/out of a store, of course he'd hold the door for the person behind you. he never forgets his manners. this is your favorite part about him, all you can do is admire.
✮⋆˙ - hanta sero : sero is not afraid to make things for you. you having a bad day? oh, he actually made you guys matching bracelets. he has a bead and string collection because he knows you love jewelry. he's also great at origami, he's always available to give you something. he can definitely crochet. you still sleep with the fat elephant he made you. you think its adorable, and you keep everything he gives you.
✮⋆˙ mina ashido : you love it when she asks to dance with you. she holds her hand out to you with a grin before pulling you into a tight embrace. it doesn't matter what the fuck kind of music is playing, megan thee stallion or lana del rey, you two will be dancing. she asks you so unexpectedly, but you don't complain. there will never be a boring moment with mina.
✮⋆˙ : tsuyu asui : tsu isn't much of a talker, but that definitely changes once she's with you. you guys have occasional yap sessions, some of them pertaining to nothing specific at all, you two just talk just to talk. you wanna gossip? she's all ears. you have something on your mind you think is stupid? she needs to hear it. she always listens to you, even if what you say makes no sense. she's so interested in what you have to say, you never feel like you're talking to a brick wall when you're with her.
✮⋆˙ - ochaco uraraka : karaoke. car karaoke is your guy's personal favorite. only one of your hands on the wheel, all four windows down, music to the max. usually, you would find this embarrassing. but ochaco always seems so happy singing with you. katy perry, wave to earth, laufey, taylor swift, red velvet, any artist of your choice. she loves listening to music with you, often sharing earbuds. but she definitely prefers borderline screaming in the car with you. you secretly admire each other, taking short, (maybe not so short) glances at one another. the way she's enjoying herself makes your heart melt knowing how comfortable she is with you.
✮⋆˙ kyoka jirou : she obviously plays her instruments to you. you love when she shows you snippets on some things she's been working on. the way she's so passionate and absolutely amazing at the thing she enjoys leaves you in a trance. her voice is music to your ears, and a soft smile grazes her lips when she notices how hard you're staring at her. if she could play you songs forever, she definitely would.
✮⋆˙ momo yaoyorozu : like sero, her love language is gift giving. since she's rich, she used to often travel before attending U.A. she has countless souvenirs from a variety of other countries, some you didn't even know existed. she also loves taking you on shopping sprees, she doesn't mind at all. momo does so much for you, and all you can do to return the favor is show her an endless amount of affection. you feel guilty she does all this stuff for you, but she assures you that it's okay and she loves doing this for you and seeing you happy. your heart drops to your knees. (in a good way, of course. <3)

How You React To JJK Characters Describing You as Their Type When Todo Asks
Fluff
Request from anon! This was a super fun one, thanks again for the request!! Also, I didn't do Mai, Miwa or Momo with this one, but added in Nanami; if you would like me to add the other girls back in, lmk and I absolutely will!! :)
JK Men x gn!reader
Warnings: none
Part 2 to this fic; same premise here, the students are all in a big group when the question was asked! <3
Yuji:
“Yuji! What kind of person is your type?”
“My type? Uh, let’s see,” he said, putting his thumb and forefinger to his chin in thought. After he gave his reply, you noticed everyone glancing between him and you.
“What? Is there something on my face?” you asked, wiping your cheek.
“No, you dummy,” said Nobara, “didn’t you hear what Itadori’s type was?”
“Yeah. So?”
“So? So? He described you perfectly,” she hissed. You thought back to his answer and your eyes went wide, realizing she was right. You looked over at the pink haired boy.
“Is that true? Your type is me?” you asked him, not caring that everyone was deeply invested in your conversation.
“Yeah. Is that… okay?” he asked, nervously ruffling his hand through his hair.
“Only if you ask me on a date,” you said with a playful wink, walking away. Yuji just stared at you, hearts in his eyes, until Nobara smacked him.
“Well? What are you waiting for? Go ask them!”
He hurried after you, eager to ask you out.
Megumi:
“Tell us, Fushiguro, what kind of person is your type?”
Megumi rolled his eyes. “Things like that are so unimportant. It doesn’t matter.”
“It matters more than you think. It tells you everything you need to know is about a person. Like how you’re a wimp for not answering,” said Todo, crossing his arms with a triumphant smirk.
“Fine,” replied Megumi through gritted teeth, tired of Todo’s pestering, “you really wanna know? I’ll tell you.”
As he described his dream person, you felt your face get warmer and warmer.
“That, um, kind of sounds like me, doesn’t it?” you whispered to Yuji.
“There’s no ‘kind of’ about that, y/n,” he whispered back, just as surprised as you were. When Megumi saw you looking at him, he shoved his hands in his pockets and walked away, clearly embarrassed. You ran after him as fast as you could.
“Megumi, wait! I have to talk to you!” you exclaimed, halting him with a grip of his arm.
“I’m sorry, that was a big mistake, I shouldn’t have said anything-”
“I like you. A lot,” you confessed. “You’re my type, too.”
“R-really?” His voice squeaked and he quickly cleared his throat. “I mean, really? That’s good. Great. I’m… relieved.”
You chuckled at his adorable flustered state. “Me too. I guess Todo is good for something after all.”
Nobara:
“Kugisaki! What’s your type?”
“My type? That’s simple,” she answered, her bright bob swinging. As she described the kind of person she found attractive, you couldn’t help the giddiness bubbling up inside; she was describing you!
“Kugusaki? Can I talk to you over here for a second?” you asked, signaling her to follow you away from the group. Yuji, understanding what was happening, gave you a thumbs up.
“Do you have a crush on me?” you questioned. “Because the person you described sounded exactly like me.”
Nobara immediately went into the defensive, crossing her arms defiantly.
“Huh?! Nuh uh, that could be anybody here,” she replied, her face lighting up with a small blush.
“Oh. What a shame, I’ve had a crush on you for a long time,” you said, preparing to walk away. Nobara’s hand darted to your own, prompting you to stop.
“Wait! I… do like you, okay?” she mumbled, not meeting your eyes. “It’s just a crush, though, it’s not like I’m in love or anything stupid.”
You laughed lightly at her attitude. She was a piece of work, but if everything went well, she’d be your piece of work.
Maki:
“Zenin, spill. What kind of person is your type?”
“Do you really have nothing else rolling around in that tiny brain of yours?” Maki asked, obviously annoyed.
“Who would’ve thought someone as fearless as you would be scared by a little question, hmm?” a vicious voice from Mai said.
“I’m not scared, it’s a dumb question,” Maki replied, “but I’ll answer it anyway to get you idiots off my back.”
When she was done describing her type, you felt Yuta nudge you softly.
“Y/n, I think she likes you,” he said in a hushed tone.
“So what if I do, huh?” she said aggressively, overhearing what Yuta told you. The tension that overcame the group was uncomfortable, so much so that everyone left, leaving you and Maki by yourselves. She kept her eyes trained elsewhere, not wanting to meet yours.
“This whole thing was stupid. Forget I said anything,” she snarled.
“Maki,” you said with such softness that she actually looked at you, “I really like you. You’re my type, too.”
She scoffed as she looked away once more, hiding her warmed face. “You’re such a sap, you know that?”
Inumaki:
“Inumaki! What’s your type?”
“He can’t talk, you jerk,” you exclaimed defensively. You turned to Toge. “Just ignore him, okay? You don’t have to answer.”
“Salmon,” he responded, placing a hand on your arm to signal he was alright. He sighed as he approached Todo.
“Salmon salmon,” he told him, earning a confused look from Todo.
“Anyone care to translate?” the tall man asked. Toge rolled his eyes and tried again.
“Salmon salmon,” he said, this time making his pointing toward you more obvious.
“Your type is… L/n?” wondered Todo. Toge nodded meekly as you were overcome with butterflies in your stomach. He turned away from the group as Todo asked the same question to the next victim.
“Toge, I’m your type?” you asked, your voice shaking a little.
He nodded.
“Does that mean you like me?”
He nodded again. You immediately wrapped him in a hug, making him stumble back before wrapping his arms around you as well.
“I’ve liked you for so long now. I never thought I’d have Todo to thank for this, but I guess weirder things have happened.”
Yuta:
“Okkatsu, tell us, what kind of person is your type?”
“I can appreciate all types of people,” Yuta answered happily, making you smile. He was always so kindhearted!
“I don’t believe that,” replied Todo, narrowing his eyes. “You have to have one certain type of person you always find attractive.”
“I mean, I guess so,” he replied, starting to look nervous.
“And that is?” Todo raised an eyebrow.
“Um, let’s see…”
When Yuta was describing that person, you felt a tug on your sleeve. Inumaki was looking at you and you nodded in understanding.
“You picked up on that, too?” you asked, getting an enthusiastic nod in response. Yuta blushed when he noticed you watching him and quickly encouraged Todo to ask the question to someone else to keep him from embarrassing himself more. What he didn’t notice, until it was too late, was who Todo asked next.
“L/n! What’s your type?”
“That’s easy,” you said, your eyes never leaving Yuta’s as you smiled. “It’s Okkatsu.”
He could’ve sworn he died and went to Heaven right there!
Gojo:
“Gojo-sensei! What kind of person is your type?”
“Ooh, are we all playing a little get-to-know-each-other game?” asked Satoru excitedly. “I love it when the students bond like this.”
You were walking by the group when you overheard your fellow teacher getting involved in the kids’ antics so naturally, you stopped to watch.
“My type, hmm?” He was deep in thought, his forefinger to his chin. “Ah! Got it.”
As he was describing the person, the kids started snickering while looking at you. At first you didn’t understand why, but when it clicked, your first instinct was to grab Satoru by the back of his shirt collar and drag him away.
“Thanks for the fun!” he yelled, waving goodbye. When you were far enough away, out of sight and earshot of the students, you punched him in the arm.
“Ouch! Trouble in paradise already?” he teased.
“What the hell, Satoru? Our students aren’t supposed to know about teachers’ crushes on each other,” you reprimanded.
“What happens when we get married? They’ll know when they have to address you as Gojo-sensei. Or address me as L/n-sensei, I don’t care about the whole name situation,” he said airily, waving his hand around.
“You are truly impossible,” you said, rubbing your fingers on your forehead to ease your oncoming headache.
He poked your arm. “But you love me, don’t you?”
“I like you. And that’s trouble as it is,” you groaned, earning a smile and arm slung around your shoulder from the man.
“That’s enough for me, baby.”
“Don’t ever say that again.”
“Noted.”
Noritoshi:
“Kamo! What’s your type?”
“I don’t want to play your nonsense games, Todo,” remarked Noritoshi, frustrated.
“The next head of the Kamo clan refuses to answer such an easy question? That tells me everything I need to know about your character,” smirked Todo.
Noritoshi scowled. “Don’t question my character over my disbelief in your stupid qualifications.”
“Admit it, Kamo. You’re scared,” teased Mai, which sent him over the edge. He explained his type to the group, finishing with, “-don’t ever ask me something so idiotic in the future.”
“So… your type is L/n,” said Todo.
“Yes.” Noritoshi’s eyes widened when he realized what he said. “No! Wait! I don’t…”
He stopped, coming to terms that the damage was already done.
“All of you get on my nerves,” he barked, walking away quickly. You hurried after him.
“Noritoshi,” you said after catching up with him, “I really like you. You’re exactly my type too.”
He studied your eyes for any sign of deceit, but he didn’t find any. Breathing out a sigh of relief, he let a small smile fall upon his lips.
“Maybe the brainless question was useful after all.”
Todo:
“Todo! What’s your type?” you asked the muscled man. He looked surprised at you speaking up, but immediately replaced that expression with a wide smile.
“You.”
You burst into laughter. “No, I’m being serious, Aoi. What kind of person are you into?”
“I am serious, you’re exactly my type. I think you’re really attractive.”
You were about to laugh again when you noticed he was being genuine.
“You’re not… joking?”
“You seriously didn’t know? You’re all he talks about or looks at,” said Noritoshi. “Even I’ve noticed that much.”
“So, what do you say?” Aoi addressed you with another smile. “You want to go on a date with me sometime?”
“Yeah. That would be amazing,” you breathed out, still shocked at the outcome you weren’t expecting but would gladly accept.
Nanami:
“Nanami-sensei! What kind of person is your type?”
Todo’s loud voice made Kento stop abruptly in his tracks.
“I’m not a teacher so don’t address me as such,” he sighed, pushing his glasses up his nose. “Secondly, that’s none of your business. If you’ll excuse me.”
“Nanamin!” Yuji exclaimed, blocking the exasperated man’s path. “It’s a harmless question! We just wanna know more about you.”
Kento observed the shining eyes of the children staring at him and he sighed again, this time more forcefully.
“My type is a person who is smart enough to stay far away from this troublesome group,” he grumbled, making a beeline for your laughing figure as you watched from afar.
“Not a fan of my students’ curiosity, Nanami-sensei?” you teased, causing him to groan.
“They’re much too nosy. I have no interest in delving into my love live with children.”
“How about with another adult, then?” you asked.
He raised an eyebrow. “I’d hardly call you an adult with the way you’re acting right now.”
“I’d be hurt if you weren’t right,” you replied. “C’mon, we trust each other. I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours.”
“Fine,” he relented, “but this isn’t how I pictured telling you. I was hoping for a more mature environment when confessing my romantic feelings towards you.”
You stood in shock at his sudden confession. You were joking with the man, not expecting him to come up with a real answer, but instead, he admitted he liked you.
“To make myself clear,” he said, noticing your lack of a reaction, “you’re my type.”
You stumbled over your words in your surprised state. “I… wow. I wasn’t expecting that.” You took in a deep breath to calm yourself. “That does make it a lot easier to say my type is overworked blondes named Kento.”
His lips quirked up into a hint of a smile. “You think I’m overworked?”
“I know you are.” You mustered up all your courage before continuing, asking, “How about you take some time off and join me for dinner later?”
Kento’s smile became much more prominent. “That was supposed to be my line, but that would be lovely nonetheless. I’ll pick you up at 7.”

Katara and the “Mom Friend” Trope
Tumblr media
Both in-universe and among fans, Katara has always been identified as the “mom friend.” While often used as a joke, the trope does reveal a deeper and more tragic aspect of Katara’s character: the way the war has forced her to grow up quickly and take on a parental role at a young age.
This is a frequently misunderstood part of Katara’s character, despite it being central to her arc. Since the show first aired, Katara has been the butt of many jokes and has always been one of the most hated characters by fans. From tasteless jokes about how she talks about the loss of her mother too much to accusations of being too emotional and bossy, Katara’s character has always been under attack by fans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In past years, and still in certain parts of the internet, this behavior was blatant, but lately I’ve noticed a more subtle spin on this. As it becomes slightly less socially acceptable to say blatantly misogynistic things about female characters—particularly here on tumblr—I’ve noticed fans express the same negative sentiments about Katara, but dressed up to appear more progressive. The most common way I see this sentiment expressed is fans downplaying Katara’s role as “team mom” and trying to make it seem as if Katara is less mature and responsible than she really is.
Of course, these individuals would have you believe that their reasoning for these opinions is that they really care so much about Katara and want to “let her be a kid.” But in reality, when you ignore the way that Katara is forced into a parental role in canon, you also ignore and disregard the context for many of her character traits, leading into the accusations of her being bossy and overly emotional that I mentioned earlier. It erases, and therefore minimizes, a huge source of stress and trauma that weighs on Katara throughout the series.
The idea that Katara fans created the concept of her being a “mom friend” is ridiculous. This is mentioned so much in canon that it’s practically a running joke. Toph accuses Katara of acting like everyone’s mom in The Chase. A similar conflict arises again in The Runaway, when Sokka even admits that he thinks of Katara as a mother figure, despite him being her older brother.
Tumblr media
Katara seems pretty hurt by this too, and it’s still never properly addressed again.
In The Headband, Katara actually pretends to be Aang’s mother.
And looking at everything we know about Katara, it’s very clear how she assumed this role. Think about what she says in the exposition of the entire show:
Katara: Ever since mom died, I've been doing all the work around camp while you've been off playing soldier! I even wash all the clothes! Have you ever smelled your dirty socks?
The moment Katara is introduced, the audience is given a critical piece of information about Katara—that she’s lost her mother and essentially assumed her role. While Sokka is more or less playing and occasionally hunting (we hardly ever see him do this in canon by the way), Katara is doing the overlooked, underappreciated labor that keeps everything moving. There is a great post here by @theotterpenguin that details this and the inherent misogyny in devaluing the kind of work Katara does, and how many fans tend to do this.
This trend continues throughout the course of the show. Katara is always the voice of reason who keeps things moving. She reigns in Sokka and Aang, who are constantly getting themselves into trouble.
There are countless examples, but to name a few:
As early as The Warriors of Kyoshi, she’s trying to get Aang to behave and not endanger himself to look cool. And having him mouth off when she gently suggests that he help with a minor chore.
In The Storm, Katara warns Sokka not to take a risky job, which he ignores and nearly gets himself killed.
In The Blue Spirit, Katara is trying the whole time to do something productive via Momo, remaining vigilant despite the sickness wearing her down.
In The Chase, being the one to politely ask Toph to help out, and honestly doing a pretty good job of keeping her cool as long as she did.
The entirety of The Desert episode. While everyone else was drugged up, hopeless, and even outright hostile, Katara kept everything moving and saved everyone’s lives.
Tumblr media
Whenever Aang goes into the Avatar State, it’s always Katara tasked with calming him down, despite how dangerous and volatile the Avatar State is when not properly controlled.
Additionally, there are so many small details that add to this picture. Katara is always the one we see getting food, preparing food, doing chores, everything of that nature. Everyone else would be completely lost without her.
And sadly, this is something never properly addressed by the narrative nor acknowledged by fans. There is a great post here by @ecoterrorist-katara explaining the tragedy in this. Katara is constantly burdened with the responsibility of keeping everything moving and doing the invisible labor that is never appreciated but keeps everyone moving, which is the reason why she’s viewed as being in a maternal role. Because that’s what she very clearly is to her friends.
This really wasn’t meant to be a ship related post, but it is kind of the elephant in the room here. I know a lot of the motivation in downplaying Katara’s “mom friend” role stems from shipping discourse, in particular, the hatred of the idea of Katara and Zuko acting as team parents. Some people associate Momtara as a Zutara trope and as a result, relentlessly bash it as they do anything even tangentially related to Zutara. But did you ever consider why it’s a Zutara trope? Because a lot of fans recognize everything I mentioned previously, and enjoy the idea of someone helping to share that responsibility. Sokka, Aang, and Toph clearly didn’t, so that leaves…guess who.
Tumblr media
Zuko: You should get some rest. We'll be there in a few hours. You'll need all your strength.
It’s tiring seeing this trend from people who clearly don’t care about Katara or her character. Sure, you might try to act like you’re downplaying Katara’s maternal role and how a huge part of her canon character was the war forcing her to assume that role out of “wanting her to be a kid” but you really aren’t that different from more blatantly misogynistic fans who call her immature and annoying. You don’t recognize or respect the work she’s constantly putting in to protect those around her, and then you have the audacity to get mad at fans of Katara who actually like the idea of someone taking some of that burden off of her shoulders?
Same Katara hate, different font. She is forced into this material role, and refusing to acknowledge this is disrespectful not just to Katara’s character, but all the real life women and girls forced into similar roles who see themselves in Katara.
