It doesn't get a ton of page traffic, and I think people here might enjoy it, so I wanted to talk about Mandrake Sanctuary.
Mandrake Sanctuary is a journaling ttrpg that you play by collecting and growing little plant creatures.
The plant creatures you grow are all based on real world plants, such as the rose, lotus, or prickly pear, and they start out as seedlings but then grow according to the soil mixture you put them in.
Different soil mixtures have different activation requirements, and these can be anything from 'activates when you go to school or work' to 'activates when you exercise' to 'activates when you take time to rest.' When a soil activates, the mandrake in it grows a little bit, and you draw these changes.
To put it differently, with Mandrake Sanctuary, you pick habits in yourself that you want to cultivate, and you pick adorable plant gremlins that you want to raise too. Your mandrakes grow when you work on your habits in the real world, and over time you can release them, swap out the soil mixtures, and adopt new mandrakes.
It's slow-paced, cozy, and gentle, and the book supports journaling as well as drawing if you're more comfortable with words than art (or vice versa.)
Mandrake Sanctuary has been out for a while, but it got a big update patch a few months ago basically doubling its size and adding more art and more player resources.
If you check it out, I'd love to hear about the kinds of mandrakes you raise.
Just a collection of old Clover doodles and WIPs I'm never gonna finish. A lot of these are as old as of January. My designs for characters have changed a lot since these were made. Read the img descriptions for details! 💛
Shoutout to @northstarscowboyhat you guys should definitely check out their Clover Lives AU stuff cuz it's solid!
Rex is such a good older brother to Rudy 😁 (he’s the youngest out of all of them)
I’m totally not obsessed with invincible and TOTALLY NOT on the brink of ruining my bank account by buying every comic and comic compendium and comic collection and funko pops and art book…
The weather in the DMV (DC, MD, and VA) swings like a pendulum. Bright and sunny one hour, and the next, we're hit with rain followed by more swings in weather. This was a pain to shoot as it started drizzling when we assembled him. We, and I say we because this isn't a one-person setup, tried the following evening again to get some shots in as the sun went down. I got some great photos with the light-up features on full display (hoping they all worked without issue) and with the help of a 100 ft extension cord. Eventually, I got all the images I needed. The pictures speak for themselves.
My only drawback with this release is that the largest of the two boxes was too tight of a fit for the styrofoam casing. No matter what, we could only remove the statue by cutting the box open, which never happens, but it did this time. I was disappointed, considering their Spiral King Ghidorah DX was packaged immaculately with zero issues removing and repackaging him afterward. I don't know if that was just an isolated incident with me or if this has happened to other collectors.
That aside, the Burning DX is beautiful and a highlight of 2023, collecting-wise. We're only in May, but this has taken the lead in my Kaiju Collectable of the Year.
Props to Awesome Collector and Kaiju Live for bringing this titan home!
After a medical check with Frostbite and a conversation with Clockwork, it turned out that Danny didn't have a protect obsession, and it was more of a ghostly reflex about protecting his haunt from invaders.
The need to protect his home had invaded his mind until it became a priority due to the constant in which the other ghosts kept coming, leaving his space obsession as a secondary priority until the end of the danger.
He only needed one night looking at the sky and getting stellar freckles to realize that he had an obsession with space, the problem? Phantom has become a possessive ghost.
As with his home, he had an irrational fear of the night sky being stolen from him, so he began stealing stars and keeping them with him. This might seem impossible if Danny were a normal person, but he was a half ghost, and a powerful one.
He stole the stars and hid them within his own ectoplasm, turning his appearance into one similar to Nocturn's. Or at least he did until Clockwork scolded him for interfering with his dimension's solar system and forced him to return the stars.
Which he did with great reluctance. But the desire to hoard the stars just for himself did not disappear; Danny looked for an alternative solution to the problem and with the help of the Infinite Map he found "The perfect dimension to steal stars and not have to return them"
However, this did not go unnoticed by the Justice League when an abnormality was detected in all parts of the cosmos, hundreds of stars were disappearing, and fast. They decided to investigate.
On the other hand, Danny was hugging and hoarding stars as he hovered in the new dimension sky. It was perfect! And he wasn't going to return them again.
