so apollo's dynamic with klavier is interesting

Hello and welcome to the Klapollo essay I said I was going to write. I mostly decided to write this because I think it's interesting that Apollo goes from "I have to pull that darkness out of him!" in Turnabout Succession to "oh god not him again" in Turnabout Academy, and I wanted to make a post analyzing why (but also I find it weird every time I see someone say Apollo hates Klavier, which doesn't happen often to be fair but is still a bit weird to me because Apollo canonically doesn't hate Klavier. Neither does Ema for that matter, at least in my opinion, but that's a post for a different time).

Part 1: Apollo Has Never Hated Klavier

First things first, Apollo has never canonically hated Klavier. At worst he finds him annoying. The first interaction they have after Klavier has the officer in front of People Park let Apollo and Trucy investigate is during the first day of Wocky's trial, where a lot of Apollo's interactions with Klavier are either annoyed, confused, or both. It's also made clear during the first day of Wocky's trial that Apollo finds Klavier attractive to some degree, as this is where we get the "I'll wipe that smirk off your pretty face, Gavin!" line. Notably, he never really genuinely shows disdain towards him, just annoyance. Like that's literally the worst we see his opinion of Klavier get. Apollo is vocal when he doesn't like something, we would know if he actually didn't like Klavier. From the start most of his comments on Klavier amount to "what the fuck is his deal" or subtle implications that he doesn't realize he's attracted to Klavier in some way which. Relatable.

Anyway, with that out of the way, I would like to talk about every interaction they've had whether it's canon or not.

Part 2: I don't know what to call this section

When I say I want to talk about every interaction Apollo and Klavier have ever had, I very much mean every interaction (although not necessarily in-depth). Whether that be how they interact during Wocky's trial or how they interact during the Gavinners Reunion tour CD drama, I will be analyzing all of it because this is my blog and I do what I want.

Part 2.1: Turnabout Corner

First things first, Klavier's first interaction with Apollo and Trucy. Klavier teases Apollo for staring, Apollo is still a bit confused because Klavier looks like Kristoph, and then Klavier very specifically turns his attention to Trucy, and this is what finally knocks Apollo out of his confused daze (which is really funny. Apollo basically got annoyed by Klavier ignoring him).

Important thing to note here: in at least the first part of Turnabout Corner's trial, Guilty Love is diegetic, which basically means it doesn't just exist as background music for us, the players, but it also exists in universe as Klavier's accompaniment when he's in court.

During the first part of Wocky's trial, which is when Apollo is first able to actually get a proper impression of how Klavier is, this exchange happens:

Klavier: Achtung, baby! Today we play it my way! Apollo: (What's that… noise?) Klavier: Sometimes you have to get on up in order to get down... to prosecuting! Apollo: (This is crazy…)

At this point in the game, Apollo just seems a bit exasperated by Klavier's antics. Like his reaction is basically "I'm the only normal person in this courtroom." A few lines after this, Apollo (internally) asks Klavier if he can speak without the accompaniment. Apollo's exasperation towards Klavier continues throughout the trial. He gets annoyed, he gets irritated, but he never actually gets angry with Klavier. You could argue he gets angry with Klavier when Klavier says "At least one person on the defense team seems to be thinking" but you could just as easily argue he's being defensive. Something also worth noting here is that that line of Klavier's is what triggers him to think "Grr... I'll wipe that smile off your pretty face, Gavin!" which also, notably, is the first indication we get that Apollo finds Klavier attractive.

Apollo continues to, throughout the game, make comments implying he finds Klavier annoying because of how he presents himself (in Turnabout Corner, for example, he says he wishes Klavier would stop being so cool, which seems to be similar to Ema's general attitude toward Klavier but that's for another post). Some more things of note in Turnabout Corner:

Klavier continues to tease Apollo throughout the trial, which mainly flusters Apollo instead of making him actually upset or anything.

When Klavier meets Apollo and Trucy outside People Park the second time, the first thing he does is have Apollo wave at his fans, once again flustering him (but notably not making him annoyed or anything, just confused and flustered). After this, he slips some pretty important information regarding the case to Apollo and Trucy.

Klavier helps Trucy and Apollo throughout the trial as much as he can. A lot of it comes off as him being a dick but he is genuinely helping Trucy and Apollo.

So to summarize: Apollo's attraction to Klavier is implied as early as the first trial day for Wocky's trial, and Apollo is, at worst, irritated by Klavier's antics.

Part 2.2: Turnabout Serenade

Apollo tending to be more annoyed than anything else with Klavier's antics continues in Turnabout Serenade. Apollo reacts worst to Klavier, in his eyes, not taking LeTouse's murder seriously. When Klavier asks him what crime he's referring to (the multiple thefts Klavier's a victim of or the murder) Apollo goes "The murder, what else?!" which is the most annoyed he gets with Klavier specifically in Turnabout Serenade. Apollo actually spends decent chunk of Turnabout Serenade sassing the hell out of Klavier.

Apollo also mentions that Klavier is "cool" in Turnabout Serenade which is something he's jealous about, and immediately tells himself he'll never admit it to Trucy. Here's the specific bit of dialogue:

(To be honest… …he was kind of cool. And I'm kind of envious. Not that I'd ever admit that to Trucy.)

Apollo continues to be jealous of Klavier multiple times after this in optional dialogue by the way.

When you present Apollo's badge to Klavier after The Guitar's Serenade portion of the concert:

Klavier: ...... Herr Forehead. Apollo: Y-Yeah? Klavier: Understand that I am not Prosecutor Gavin now. I am lead vocal of the Gavinners. That badge sings a different song… on a different stage. Apollo: Right… (I wish I had an alter-ego to hide behind sometimes.)

When you present the lyrics sheet for The Guitar's Serenade to Klavier:

Klavier: I wrote those lyrics, you know. Though it was Lamiroir who gave them life. Trucy: Wow… That's beautiful! Apollo: (Grr. Maybe I should try to write some lyrics someday.)

When Klavier gives Trucy and Apollo the aforementioned lyrics sheet:

Apollo: What's this…? Klavier: A lyrics sheet. It's yours. Signed by myself and Lamiroir. Trucy: Yippee! Thanks so much! Apollo: (All I ever get to sign are client defense agreements.)

Onto the trial itself, Apollo sasses Klavier a lot. Not even teases him, he just straight up bullies him. The instance of this that immediately comes to mind is when Klavier's talking about Daryan and Apollo says "That's nice, but it has nothing to do with the matter at hand." but he has a few other instances of just being a bit mean toward Klavier too (keep in mind that this very much feels closer to Apollo giving Klavier a taste of his own medicine than any actual malice or anything). Notably Klavier's still a bit of a bitch about how Apollo makes his case in Turnabout Serenade, but he's still willing to help him get to the truth of a situation if needed (as seen when you talk to him in his office).

Part 2.3: Turnabout Succession

Unlike in Turnabout Corner and Turnabout Serenade, Klavier isn't seen in Turnabout Succession until Vera's trial starts. The trial goes perfectly fine until the Gramarye commemorative stamp comes up as evidence, at which point not only is Klavier on the verge of snapping, but Apollo is concerned about him, and this concern stays into the next trial day, where Klavier's fawning aggressively in response to Kristoph. Trucy and Apollo both get really concerned about Klavier at this point. Let's also not forget that Apollo mentions that Klavier looks like he's in physical pain and immediately follows it up with "That darkness… …I have to pull that darkness out of him…" and by that point his goal isn't just securing a not guilty verdict for Vera, but also in some way helping Klavier break free from Kristoph's control.

This isn't subtext or an assumption on my end, Apollo is literally why Klavier broke free from Kristoph's control. Had Apollo not been the defense attorney on Vera's case, I don't think Klavier would've ever broken out of Kristoph's control honestly. Klavier's "Let's clean out the family closet, eh, Kristoph?" comes after Apollo's comment on pulling the darkness out of Klavier. It's Apollo proving Drew's link to Kristoph that breaks Klavier free of Kristoph's control (as Klavier very specifically says "Just… prove it! Clear up these doubts now, or I swear, I'm off this case!" There's something poetic about two of the victims of Kristoph's emotional manipulation coming together to make sure he's found out for murder and attempted murder.

Anyway, Apollo shows so much concern for Klavier in Turnabout Succession and I don't think he would if he didn't care a lot about him, and we know Apollo has a tendency to care about people even if he just met them or doesn't know them all that well based on his interactions with Vera, Trucy, Wocky, Machi, Juniper, and Rayfa (and probably others that I can't think of off the top of my head). Like Apollo cares so much about other people and I feel like it isn't really acknowledged a lot.

Part 2.4: Turnabout Academy/The Magical Turnabout

Turnabout Academy is the reason I wanted to analyze Apollo and Klavier's dynamic in the first place honestly. The reason is because Apollo's behavior around him going from quite concerned to annoyed between Turnabout Succession and Turnabout Serenade.

Apollo and Klavier's dynamic in Turnabout Academy is incredibly similar to their dynamic in Turnabout Serenade. The primary differences are that Klavier's a bit more mean and we're not seeing Apollo's attitude toward Klavier from his perspective. We're instead seeing it from Athena's perspective. We can also assume that Turnabout Academy is where Athena first noticed that Apollo gets prickly any time the topic of Klavier is brought up, because Turnabout Academy takes place around 6 months before The Magical Turnabout and The Magical Turnabout is where Athena mentions Apollo getting prickly any time the topic of Klavier comes up (and she specifically notes that she's noticed that "for a while").

Klavier's really funny in Turnabout Academy though because he focuses so much of his attention on Apollo specifically which means Athena's third-wheeling Klapollo for a fair amount of the investigation. I also acknowledge that I might be the only one who got that vibe from Turnabout Academy but for me that vibe absolutely exists.

Additionally, let's go over the exchange about the roses Klavier sent Trucy again.

Athena: Oh, these are from Prosecuter Gavin. Apollo: Roses, huh? How like him: pretentious. Athena: They might be pretentious, but you know what? He makes it work! Apollo: Hmph. Athena: Apollo, I've noticed this for a while, but… …you get awfully prickly when it comes to Prosecutor Gavin. Apollo: Y-You think so? Athena: I mean, don't hate him just because he's beautiful. Apollo: Th-That's not it at all!

I'm not just mentioning this because it's funny. Even assuming Athena did catch on to how annoyed Apollo gets about Klavier existing immediately in Turnabout Academy (which is likely considering her whole gimmick), this implies the topic of Klavier is regularly brought up around the Wright Anything Agency. Unless Apollo and Klavier regularly faced off in court between Turnabout Academy and The Magical Turnabout, there is no reason for this implication to exist. It makes me wonder who's bringing up Klavier and why. Does Klavier just show up at the WAA on a regular basis to fuck with Apollo? Do Phoenix, Trucy, and Athena regularly invite him over because Apollo's reactions are funny? Why has the topic of Klavier come up when Athena's around enough for Athena to notice that Apollo gets prickly when it comes to Klavier, let alone enough for her to assume the reason for it is because Klavier's attractive? What goes on at the Wright Anything Agency off-screen lol

Part 2.5: The Gavinners Reunion Tour CD Drama

(This isn't important and I'm not arguing its canonicity, I just think it's cute and want to talk about it. You can find the audio with English subtitles here)

The Gavinners Reunion Tour CD drama is genuinely one of my favorite non-game pieces of Ace Attorney media. I'm so emotionally attached to it. Before I go into the Klavier and Apollo parts of it, I need to mention that Phoenix invited Ema and Apollo to Klavier's revival concert thinking they'd be excited for it. Idk, it's really funny to me. Also, Klavier gave Apollo and Trucy a bigger discount on tickets than he gave Phoenix. I think Klavier has favorites lol

I also need to point out that Klavier completely ignores Ema and Phoenix when he mentions how good the concert's gonna be. He specifically mentions Apollo when he mentions how good the concert's gonna be. Apollo is also the one to suggest that he, Phoenix, and Ema go with Klavier's manager to get his drugs candy before he goes on stage. Now, to be fair, that could absolutely be more over concern for Klavier's manager than Klavier but Apollo was still the one to suggest it. Apollo is also the one who encourages Klavier's manager to keep looking for the aforementioned candy.

Anyway near the end Klavier invites Apollo to sing an acoustic duet of Guilty Love. It's adorable and I love it. Right before that Apollo mentions actually enjoying the concert (Apollo tells Ema this is specifically because he's faced off against Klavier so many times in court that his music feels similar to facing him in court which implies he'll only ever enjoy rock music if it's Klavier's. gay) and Klavier says "Even I never managed to imagine I'd be able to win your heart!"

Anyway go listen to the Gavinners Reunion Tour CD drama, it's absolutely wonderful.

Part 3: Conclusions or Something

I don't know what I'm concluding here. The last half of this was written over a month after the first half so I don't even really remember where I was going with this but basically, Apollo doesn't hate Klavier. He doesn't even see Klavier as a rival:

Athena: Look! There's your rival over there, Apollo! Apollo: Who, Prosecutor Gavin? We've battled it out a few times before, but I wouldn't call him-- Athena: No, not him. I meant that speaker over there! It can output massive blasts of sound that rival your Chords of Steel! Apollo: I have better things to do than compete with a speaker, so just forget it. - Dual Destinies, Turnabout Academy

Apollo even extends the "I can, will, and do worry about anyone and everyone I come across whether I know them well or not, with the exception of if they're a horrible person" attitude he has toward Klavier. He cares a lot about Klavier. That's canon. He cares about Klavier to the same (or at least a similar) degree that he cares about Trucy, Vera, Juniper, and even Wocky and Machi. He doesn't extend that to people he doesn't like. He finds Wocky annoying, but he doesn't seem to really dislike him. He gets frustrated with Machi, but he doesn't dislike him. Apollo cares so much about everyone who crosses his path who is worth his time and Klavier isn't an exception to this. The only time it's obvious is in Turnabout Succession, but that's because that's where Klavier is at his most vulnerable and we're playing as Apollo.

Additionally, we know based on AA4 that Apollo prefers to keep his feelings about Klavier as a whole to himself, and masks them by acting standoffish, which is why he comes off as prickly to other people. This is why Turnabout Academy is so interesting to me in terms of how Klavier and Apollo's dynamic is written. It's the first time we're viewing their dynamic as an outsider and not as Apollo. I'm quite sure that Apollo was worried about Klavier. Klavier's mentor had just been murdered, after all. Apollo was concerned when Klavier was in the same courtroom as Kristoph, it'd frankly be out of character for Apollo not to worry about Klavier in Turnabout Academy. Apollo just has a tendency to mask his feelings regarding Klavier, so it's not obvious to an outsider that he's worried (and I'm quite sure this was the case for Trucy in Turnabout Succession too. I don't think she realized just how worried about Klavier Apollo was for a bit because so much of Apollo's concern is made obvious to the player through his thoughts).

Anyway, TL;DR: Apollo cares so much about everyone he surrounds himself with (including his clients) and Klavier's not an exception to that. Apollo doesn't hate Klavier, he doesn't even see Klavier as a rival. At worst, Apollo finds Klavier a bit annoying at times. Saying Apollo is bitter or disdainful toward Klavier is an objectively wrong reading of their dynamic. Whether you ship them or not, Apollo does care a lot about Klavier. It's an incredibly important part of Turnabout Succession and saying or acting like Apollo doesn't care about Klavier to the same degree he cares about Trucy or Vera or Lamiroir or Juniper is just ignoring canon. Apollo has so much love and care in his heart and whether romantically or platonically he extends that love and care to Klavier too.

dw 2x08 the reality war

where do i start lmaoooo

so I have to say on the whole I really enjoyed this season, like more than its predecessor I think, I found the average quality of the eps a bit higher even though the previous season had a handful i LOVED (73 yards, dot and bubble... think there was another i'm now blanking on). i really liked belinda/varada as companion and i thought she started the season strong

i also this year decided fandom is intolerable both in its incessant negativity and its penchant for spoiling the hell out of everything based on set stalking and leaked scripts and stuff so i just blacklisted everything. going in blind-ish to most eps helped i think, as much as it was frustrating to not participate in fandom chatter

i also generally really enjoyed wish world! and then this episode. well. uh. hm

the good!

i was surprisingly delighted to see anita lol? i liked her in the xmas ep but didn't expect to see her again. i think her appearance here was nice and it was a viable deus ex machina to save the doctor. i also thought anita opening doors into various flashbacks was fun. ye olde clara in the time stream. i laughed at her seeing 15 was gay and being like oh :/ lmfaoooo sorry girl

LOOMS CANON REAL LMAOOOOOOOO??????? i put this under good not because i was invested either way in the time lords' virility but because the idea of looms being canonized in 2025 is so fucking funny. on a similar note, "half-human on my mother's side" lmfao

rose noble!! i didn't know she was gonna be here. in her UNIT uniform lol. in general i think this episode wanted a bit of the journey's end team-up vibes, but with far fewer episodes to establish the team, and with those things considered i still thought it did ok, bc i did enjoy seeing ruby and belinda and mel and anita and rose and shirley and kate all together y'know. even if it kinda meant ... most of them did not get a lot to do

i've never seen time and the rani but i do enjoy when a classic companion gets to face off against a classic villain. gay as hell interaction btw

i loved the moment when fifteen swaps his suit for the skirt/vest combo hell yeah man

project indigo! martha jones you will always be famous

i loved seeing jodie whittaker! what a surprise! was it necessary? not really imo but it was fun. everyone felt they missed out not getting to see her with ncuti so it was nice. and the line about "i wish we had more time" "may we always wish that" was a sweet nod imo.

i'm not a thasmin-er but good on them for a shoutout lmfao

some really good performances from ncuti gatwa and millie gibson especially. vadara sethu is always good but uh asterix

billie piper LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO listen. i'm never going to be mad about seeing billie piper. i'm pretty sure she'll be around for a special or two before handing the reins to someone else who wants to lock in properly. she might not even be 'the doctor' maybe there's some shenanigans with bad wolf or rose or whatever. (hesitant to see rose tyler, specifically... but...) but i'm pleased to see billie and go on that ride anyway

i thought the scene of ruby watching poppy's coat disintegrate as the doctor and belinda forgot and ruby's growing horror was really good. i honestly wanted the poppy storyline to end there... which leads me to...

the not-so-good

it's not doctor who's fault specifically that i feel like i've been bombarded as of late with media emphasizing pregnancy and babies in a way that does not at all resonate with me, a childless woman with zero maternal instinct. but man. i just. do not understand how anyone could be that invested in poppy, who is not even a talking space baby anymore. she's very cute! but she is not a character. she's not real????? so like, suddenly pivoting everything to save poppy, the doctor and belinda both LOVE poppy, we GOTTA save POPPY what if POPPY doesn't exist...

reminds me of the 50th anniversary's asspull with the maypole babies. (btw -- what happened to THEM? lmao) i sort of hoped we'd left the motherhood baby foundling stuff behind in ruby's season. alas. well, more on that later.

omega was daft as hell. it's a doctor who finale so like, what can you do, right, and omega was kind of a footnote anyway. but that was daft as hell lol i spent the whole build-up like 'who did they cast oohh' just for it to be a skeleton monster. ok

kinda disappointed he just... ate the rani... i mean i do really enjoy the mrs flood rani. but it seems unfair to keep her lol

where the hell is susan LMAO i was sure in wish world that poppy being his daughter somehow would tie into the earlier line fifteen had about not having kids yet despite a granddaughter bc he's a time lord living out of order. wtf

i'm putting the regeneration under here, because i'm sad to see ncuti gatwa go :( i think fifteen did not get enough episodes and things just feel unresolved, like ruby and to a lesser degree rogue (i never personally expected to see him again, but the cameo in wish world makes it feel hanging). however with regeneration i'm always sympathetic to the reality that sometimes actors want out, and i can totally see how ncuti gatwa rising star would not want to wait around in a maybe-commitment to another year+ of filming when he's probably got lots of offers and disney/bbc are doing who-knows what on renewal. so that sucks but i get it. sad!

the what-the-hell-were-they-thinking

belinda.... what in the world happened here. ?????????.....

i really find myself convinced by the theories that ruby was meant to be a two-season companion, Something went awry, belinda was patched in, and then Something Else went awry (disney dragging its heels on renewals leading ncuti wanting to leave?) and we got this. because what in the fuck was this lasdfkahdflhdaglhk

the thing is, all season, i DID kind of wonder why belinda was *so* determined to get back EXACTLY when she left. it could easily have been explained, but it never was, so her insistence did seem a bit odd to me? and if this was going to be the resolution, they could have teased that more easily!

am i supposed to think the poppy timeline was the real one and that flatmate belinda had just forgotten in the way the glitch-y timeline had people forgetting things? i would swallow that as a plotline more easily, even if it's a little akin to amy pond and the crack storyline. varada said something in the behind-the-scenes about "we finally learn why belinda wanted to get home" so maybe that was the intent but it really was not clear if so. but belinda just ... having a whole alt life manifested for her... because of the doctor's sudden brief interest in a baby ... like.... Huh????

belinda's insulted insistence poppy was hers in wish world etc could've even paid off if there had been any hints in episodes prior that she HAD a daughter and had forgotten/lost her in rani timeline madness/whatever. but there wasn't. lol in the interstellar ep there was this whole thing about the evil corporation being named poppy-something, which i expected to be relevant and never was, and even there if you'd had belinda kind of react to the word poppy ... or ANYTHING ...

so it really does feel undeniable that the entire belinda-poppy ending was pasted on in reshoots for reasons we probably won't know until someone writes a tell-all in 15 years. please someone write the tell-all. i need to know. writer's tale 3.0 when

belinda chandra you had such a strong introductory couple episodes and then you just kind of faded. people comparing it to martha insults me a little because martha had a very clear arc whether you liked that arc or not. belinda just... didn't. after her first couple i thought she was sure to be one of my faves but in the end she really got back-seated.

who knows what the future of the show is at this point. would love to see her story resolved... some other way. but i'm doubtful that it will.

PERHAPS THE BIGGEST SCREAMING YOU'VE EVER HEARD FOR THE REALITY WAR 🦴✨

gigantic huge impossible spoilers (INCLUDING OUR NEW DOCTOR) for Doctor Who series 2 episode 8 The Reality War. i'm sure you're seeing them all over the place now, but this is far more in depth, so hold onto your hats:

OKAY. i KNOW there is so much division on this episode right now, but you know what?? i really, really fucking enjoyed it. after Empire of Death and some really bizarre writing across all of Fifteen's seasons i had huge reservations about Russell's ability to pull this off, but The Reality War gave me so many things i wanted to see: the Rani acting as her meticulous, cold, scientific self. answers as to who Poppy is. a 'resolution' to the fantasy-oriented seasons of Doctor Who with a conclusion to everything with the Pantheon (i think??). the return of Anita. that lovely interaction with Thirteen, and of course a beautiful send off to Fifteen too...

AND BILLIE PIPER AS SIXTEEN OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE THE RUMOURS WERE TRUE SOMEONE HOLD ME 😭😭😭😭😭😭💖💖💖💖💖

i watched both Wish World and The Reality War in the cinema, and while i was really not a fan of Wish World when it aired...it hits so much better as part of a double-feature where we have some pay-off to the Doctor not being himself for most of the episode as well as all the bizarre fantastical shenanigans the Rani was playing with. i am devastated that she got eaten by Omega, but it was also incredibly funny and i'm so interested to see how Mrs Flood will take over the mantle as quite a different kind of Rani (if she's still alive?! did she collapse with the wish???) 👀 the big thing that folks don't seem to like is Belinda's sudden move into being a mother, and honestly, i agree: but i think it's because this plot line was clearly intended for Ruby. this episode looks to confirm that Millie Gibson left rather suddenly as a main companion, and the parallels between Ruby and Belinda were deliberate, but Belinda was never given a reason to be so maternally invested. Ruby, as an orphan and a foundling with such a complex over her birth mother and mothers in general...it would have made more sense, but honestly i was having so much fun with this episode i don't even care 🙈💖 Fifteen was just a powerhouse in this ep. the chemistry between Fifteen and Anita was still unbelievable. Look...you and i both know that Tim is canonically unhinged. But Batsis!reader doesn't. It's so easy for you to forget that your brother Tim is so dangerous. I mean he doesn't really seem all that different from any other nerdy 19 year old. His body doesn't loom over you like the more bulky of your brothers, and his presence is rather...calming? I mean there's still a bit of uneasiness there but it's so subtle that you can brush it off

He's normal when he interacts with you. He doesn't bug you to spend time with him or uncomfortably touch you like Dick does. He is sweet and gentle...He knows how you prefer to be engaged with and respects what you don't like.

But, that's what makes him so dangerous. He knows you. Every. Last. Detail. He's gotten so good at being a nasty little fly on the wall that sometimes you forget he's even in the room. He's always around you, observing and collecting data. He's got you wrapped around his fingers and you don't realize it.

But it's not your fault. It's hard to even imagine that someone as mellow as Tim could ever share the same traits as his brothers.

Yan! Tim fully picked up just how intuitive you are and how you can spot red flags easily. He's so calculated and careful with every interaction. It's amazing how natural he makes these conversations flow. Well, they better. He's spent hours analyzing and practicing how to speak to you. His heart is pounding with anticipation, as every shred of information you give him is going right into his files on you.

Oh! The files he has on you? When Jason and Dick asked him about how many he had, he said only 4. Which is true. but those 4 files have much more information and pictures of you than they could comprehend. ...and he wasn't accounting for the hard drives and physical stacks of papers he stole. I believe Tim knows more about you than you do. When was the last time you've seen your medical records? Passports? Birth certificate? Is your ID even in your wallet? Don't worry, your brother Tim is keeping them safe for you.

Yan! Tim is a little stalker who may or may not have put a tracking/listening devices in your bag so he can keep tabs on you. <33 That's why he's always wearing headphones so he cab listen in. A small piece of missed information could cost him so much. Don't be mad, batsis! He cannot risk making you suspicious of him by asking you invasive questions so this is the only way.

I Like to think you automatically sit by him. whether it be during breakfast, watching a movie or in the car. You feel safer with him and it's a better option in your head than being with Dick who will be overbearing. Tim always acts cool, even a little annoyed by you at times but inside he's screaming. Your scent, your small smiles at him and nudge his shoulders when he makes a funny remark all send him into overdrive.

But i must say, it's exhausting for him to hold back his obsession all of the time. Sometimes he envies his siblings and how shameless they are in their obsessions. Tim Drake thinks about how great it would to be to just be hugged by you or for you to want to fall asleep on him like you do with Jason.

Sometimes, our creepy detective will slip up. He will say or do something that is odd to you

That one time you were chilling in the study with Tim. His head was ducked, low into the computer. It was super late by this time and you didn't really want to bother him so you ended up leaving without saying anything, and headed to your room. Tim was beyond hurt that you were breaking his version of bonding time and you had the audacity to not even announce your exit. He's so swift that it startled you when he grabbed your wrist from behind. His grip was....strong.... to say the least..... and he questioned why you were leaving him.

speaking of his strength, Tim is so skinny that you forget he is well trained with a nice bit of muscle. Maybe not as strong as his brothers or Bruce but he can easily subdue you.

He's definitely broken a lock or two, to get into your room at the dead of night and watch you sleep. This is the only time when he can be as fucked up as he wants to. The unhinged look in his eyes while going through your things and taking what's interesting..The adrenaline that you might catch him, excites him. He can't help but to sickly smile as he makes his way over to you and observes. A gentle hand caresses the sides of your face. You're so perfect. He whispers on and on things he wishes he could tell you while you were awake and wouldn't think it was weird....

Maybe even once he's crawled into bed with you, wrapping his arms around you. So happy to be able to finally be able to cuddle like this.

And if you happened to wake up, and realize your dear brother, Tim was there...he has a plan for that. He knows how to play mind games on you and makes you seem like the crazy one. No one would believe you anyways. The locks are all fixed by the morning.

First off, virtual kisses on both your cheeks for your Arcane analysis. They're refreshing to read, and insightful as well.

Something that's always bothered me about the way fans interact with Jayce is assuming that he's always the one making the mistakes in any of his relationships. It's almost funny in a way how they strip other characters of their autonomy and arcs just so they can point out how Jayce is failing his partners.

With Mel and Viktor especially, there's this narrative that Jayce simultaneously ignores both of their needs while also prioritising one over the other. Either he neglects Viktor to go and swoon over Mel, or he abandons his relationship with Mel to go play science with Viktor, or he neglects both to go do his own things while they suffer through their own plots.

And it's fascinating how incredibly mistaken these people are, and also how they reduce his character to only being important when he's in a relationship.

I'm here like, "hey, do you wanna discuss the reason for how Jayce seemingly knows how to navigate the ways of high class society very easily is probably because he's had to rely on sponsorships and donations for most of his youth to find his research because his house is too poor to be able afford it?"

Or "It's canonical that Jayce only ever had one friend in his youth before Viktor, and that was the daughter of his main sponsor, do you think it's interesting that this indicates he probably had difficulty making or maintaining friendships and that this is possibly a symptom of the Academy mainly housing elite and rich students so they couldn't relate to his struggles and he couldn't relate to theirs?"

But no, people just want to hate on him for not being the picture perfect boytoy in a relationship.

And I mean, it's not like it's just reduced to Jayce either. So many other characters have had similar treatments where they're reduced to either their most basic qualities or mischaracterised entirely. And I'm really not trying to be the fandom police or whatever - everyone interprets differently - I just find it frustrating is all.

YES I never have time to talk about this bc people don't give a fuck but in Jayce's journals we even see him stewing with envy and petty rage at this star-rising student on the academy that he sees as the example of a perfect prodigy (in opposition to how much Jayce fucks things up...)

It also strongly suggests he's on a scholarship, which ties into his suicide attempt.

Jayce is keeping his experiments a secret from everyone to avoid the blowback and isolating himself further and further when they don't work. Jayce is flawed! He's proud of his dream pitch to the point of hilarity. Jayce doesn't like socializing, he does it out of obligation! Even when he's being raised to a councilor position in s1 he's PANICKING. He doesn't want the fucking job, he doesn't like the parties nor the people, his truest honest self is that moment in season 2 where he declares the lab was always his home, and so was Viktor.

But even then he subsumes his own wants spends most of s1 trying to attend to the needs of other people. He routinely asks Viktor if he's alright, if he wants to come up to do the presentation, if he's sure those experiments are safe, etc. He tries to make Heimerdinger proud despite his constant rejections of their projects, and only turns on him when he threatens viktor's wellbeing. The reason why he doesn't announce anything on progress day is that he Was listening to Heimers so-called wisdom and it only bit him in the ass. Jayce gets himself in trouble with the council by being too naive and assuming his new post will allow him to crackdown on Piltovan corruption aided by the Hexgates. Majority of the complaints wrt relationships I see people making of him are just wildly exaggerated. "He was neglecting viktor" bro he talks about viktor in nearly every scene he has with mel 😭 viktor is the one who isolates himself and randomly disappears at times bc he's a grown man with his own boundaries.

Jayce's entire life is defined by the transactional nature of his existence, his work, the patronage receives - all depending on how much he can play the showpony role without fucking it up. It's not a comfortable position. Jayce is stressing out the whole damn show because if one person isn't pissed at him, someone else will be, and it always comes down to revokable money, investments, social standing. if he really was as uncaring and well-off as some claim he wouldn't give a shit. He could just coast along life, but that's not what he's doing ever. He only 'frees' himself in season 2 by abandoning his life's dream and the rotten reality that existed around it. Which is kind of bleak, but at least its over.

im gonna preface by saying idk anything about the christianity lore and im not all too interested in learning it either. i was a christian for much of the early years of my life and i dont care much to go back to that era LMFAO most of this au is js using christian imagery bc the christians lwk ate so hard w their religious imagery . neon genesis evangelion type beat . anwyays moving on.

a bit obvious but i gotta start my lore dump somewhere. dm is a priest in this au and petey is a demon

petey is a fallen angel . as in he was born an angel but he was expelled from heaven

in this au there is corruption in the heaven and hell system . god is dead type beat. but not rlly . maybe dormant? maybe god has lost faith in humankind and has gone into hibernation? god cannot exist without faith smth smth Aaanyways.

that being said petey only got expelled from heaven for reasons almost entirely out of his control. he is still graces son and im thinking grace got involved in some anti heaven stuff bc yk heavens system was becoming more and more fucked up . so i reckon when they found out they executed her and as they were in the process of executing her petey tried to protect her but obvs he couldnt be he was a kid. so they executed her and expelled petey for being a traitor . this all happens when peteys like the human equivalent of 12-14 years old maturity wise

anwyays that being said lil petey is an angel. considering when petey was his age he was still an angel . i will go more into lp later

petey is sorta in denial about falling at first bc hes scared but eventually he just leans into the demon thing bc he feels helpless (parallel to canon petey) and just causes a shit ton of trouble. his causing trouble is a way of protecting himself Essentially

eventually he causes a little Too much trouble and he gets turned into a powerless imp by the higher up demons . hes doomed to stay in that form unless hes able to corrupt a priest whos been causing a lot of trouble for the demons . Guess who this priest is.

dms accident with knight still happened (probs happened as a result of one of peteys Funny Doings but not as a direct result.) and dm copes with it by seeing it as a holy act of salvation or wahtnot. like he was saved by gods blessing and by knights sacrifice. half of this is bullshit since as i said god is in a hibernation state. so it was really just All knight. but anyways

knight was a priest before this and its the only life that dms ever known so he kinda just continues with it . he is lwk a better priest than knight was (he got a lot of secondhand religious education just from being around knight so much and hes smarter than knight) so the church just lets him take knights place essentially.

dm is just more calm and collected in this au as well . he found out pretty early on that him being too energetic got knight into trouble which made him sad so he learned to control himself a bit . there was also the threat of him being taken away from knight if he acted out too much which was the worst case scenario for him so , yeah another incentive to behave himself .

anwysays a lot of petey and dms interactions initially are pretty lighthearted . book1 and 2 core. its js petey annoying the hell out of him and dm trying to ignore him LMFAOOOOO this is how petey gets the genius idea to try and summon a clone so he can be more effective in bothering dm . this is how lil petey is created LMFAAOAOOOOO

for this au peteys denial about being related to lp in any way shape or form is waaaayyy worse bc he still has a Lot of trauma from when he was in his angelic state . and he doesnt wanna associate with angels or heaven in any capacity . so even looking at lp is hard for him.

peteys still able to go into his full demon state, but only for brief periods of time . its also super physically taxing so he has to be really careful about it or else he could abruptly change back into his imp form when hes in the middle of danger

eventually petey "corrupts" dm as in dm just acts like a Human (this is also a criticism on the inhumane standards placed on people and how oftentimes humans are shamed for acting like Humans because theyre being held to some holy standard for the promise of a perfect afterlife . using christianity as a proxy for this since christianity is the shining example of doing this a lot) . im thinking its him going against an angel or holy figure to protect petey and/or lil petey

im thinking the overarching plot of this story is intimately tied to lil petey. the plot starts off with petey trying to corrupt lil petey and turn him into a demon so that he can have a little minion .

this attempt to corrupt lp continues even after petey starts to see him more as his son because then hes like well if im a demon then my son should also be a demon . hes also starting to get scsred of what heaven might do if they find out about him . bc as far as peteys aware once heaven gets wind of lil peteys existence theyd either execute him for being an anomoly or just take him away to raise him in heaven since hes an angel. both scenarios are likely (knowing heaven) and its also literlaly the worst thing that could possibly happen. so he slike okay if i just turn lp into a demon then theres no reason for heaven to take him away .

((semi unrelated but this is a parallel to canon to me. this is js my personal headcanon but i think peteys so obsessed eith having lil petey turn out evil in the earlier parts of the series because for him acting evil was a self defense tactic. its a way to protect himself. so by having lil petey act evil hes essentially teaching him how to protect himself in the only way he knows how . when he was rejected by the world and left all alone he was able to stay alive by being a criminal. and past the nonchalant "u have to be evil just because" facade i truly do think it was . again petey subconsciously teaching lp to protect himself in the way that protected HIM from the world. so yeah ))

i think petey probs doesnt tell dm about any of this because dm is a priest . petey fully believes that if dm finds out about lil petey being his son and thus being technically disconnected from the heaven system he would try to alert heaven about it through some mortal means . so for a lot of the earlier parts of the plot dm thinks that lp is a little angel who just kinda comes down to earth from time to time . hes totally unaware that he and petey are related . yes they look almost the same but an angel and a demon being related is totally unprecedented . so he doesnt even consider it

petey also makes sure that lil petey keeps his mouth shut about them being related by telling him that if dm ever finds out that hes his dad then he might never see him again .

but what petey fails to realize is that dms loyalty doesnt lie with the church . it lies with knight . his loyalty is far removed from any kind of institution . so when he evtnually does find out (i reckon through some way out of peteys control) and petey basicaly begs him not to tell heaven because of systematic issues and the possibility of lp getting executed dm immediately agrees. at this point hes close enough to lp and petey by extension that hes willing to forgo his loyalty to the church which only really existed because of knight in the first place . everything he had done religion wise up until this point was bc of knight . so if hes asked to choose between what knight might have wanted vs the real tangible being that is begging him not to tell heaven then he is going to choose the real tangible being . thats his family dawg.

essentially for dm the real living thing happenign in his world is infinitely more important than the moral system that hes been taught .

plot basically then goes to heaven finding out and sending angels to try and find lp as petey and dm get up to shenanigans to hide him . i reckon hell also gets involved in it . heaven and hell are "opposites" but theyre hand in hand when it comes to their shit polarized system . and lil petey as an angel being petey the demons son goes against this system and undermines their power . so both heaven and hell arent all too happy about it .

the climax is the event where dm is "corrupted" like i mentioned above . i reckon this is the event that brings god out of hibernation . smth smth free will smth smth complete and total rejection of heaven by one of its servants for a holy purpose smth smth . you feel me ? and i reckon the angels are abt to finish them off or smth and god is like HEY. STOP THAT. 👎👎👎👎

petey does not become an angel again at the end of the plot. dm does not become an angel or a demon or anything like that . he just stays a mortal being. and he still stays loyal to religion in knights memory despite being friendly with a demon, despite defying the church for said demon. the whole point is that this polarization of identity bullshit is stupid when humanity is so diverse . theres nuance snd complexity and its literlaly impossible to categorize people into discrete identities. thats not how it works

i reckon dm doesnt stay a priest just because that would require adhering to their standards which dm does not fuck with . so he probs just goes and finds some other job while staying religious. smth smth religion is not inherently evil its only the way that its used by hateful people

see i get what you're putting down and it is a perfectly satisfying interpretation of the characters, but i just think that itd be far funnier if chell did not think about sucking her own dick Precisely because of the spite she feels. like. as i stated earlier imagine if She Is Too Busy Hating To Think About Cock. i think that both works within the character and is Really fucking funny. and then when faced with this chill moment where she probably isnt As Busy Hating, in old aperture, she realises and does it in the most contrived fucking complex setup built together way possible. im picturing something involved stacking up office furniture to create the sorts of portal angles to be able to do it. And because the characters do not have perfect knowledge of eachother in particular because chell does not fucking speak glados might interpret this as an act of fucking psychological warfare in the sense that she has spent however long trying to get this woman to suck herself off and at the moment she Does not want her to do that she contrives some strange fucking setup. i will concede that this idea does fuck with the bonding the two are supposed to be doing in old aperture because if she reads this as im putting it down, as a kind of adding insult to injury then that might not work as well as it does in the game, derailing the Chell sucks her own dick timeline too much from the flow of the actual plot and creating Issues.

re the portal glados self suck post: i think that glados would really really really want chell to suck her own dick but chell'd be too busy Hating to notice or even have the idea of sucking her own dick and would simply regard the increasingly contrived portal enabled self sucking setups as some really complex puzzles while glados internally becomes progressively more and more derranged not knowing whether this is a performance built speciffically to Piss Her Off or if its chell geniuenly not realising that this is a thing one could do. this comes to a head (pun intended) in old aperture where chell with potatOS on the portal gun, as she currently is far less busy Hating realises she can suckk her own dick and manages to contrive a complex setup in the least good for it place possible, making glados shortcircuit out of a combination of anger and arousal after presenting this woman with a row of ideal spots for autofellation for the last several hours and her having Not used them. this counts as a form of edging.

i like a lot of this but i gotta say i think you’re mischaracterising Chell here; Chell’s main motivation in any of her actions is spite, and she is anything but unaware. may i revise: she would become aware pretty quickly from GLaDOS’ dialogue & contraptions what she was trying to get out of this. GLaDOS is competent, but she’s not subtle. Chell would do it when she thought GLaDOS was still shorted out after fizzling out as a potato from thinking too hard. but maybe she’d wake up half way. OR she really just trusts Potato GLaDOS enough to let her guard down enough to fuck herself in front of her.
