SECOND QUARTER QUELL II UPRISING AU

Ok, look. I’m obsessed with Second Quarter Quell generation and I have A LOT of head canons about them. And sometimes these head canons contradict each other, lol. Previously I showed you some of my illustrations about SQQ generation but it was always one particular AU (where they all are kinda friends/classmates?). And I think it’s time to show you another one that I also like. This is AU (or “head canon” since we don’t really know what is real and what is not) where all of them were part of revolutionary movement before the 50th Hunger Games. Some things are the same in both universes (Mr. Hawthorne and Mrs.Mellark are best friends in both, haha), some are completely different (Mr.Mellark and Mrs.Mellark were not in love in “uprising au” and had to marry for the sake of revolution after Mr.M/Mr.E partnership was broken, oh oh, that was super dramatic!). But they look pretty much the same in every AU I have in my head haha. So here are quick portraits of SQQ gen characters and their confident files from D13 before the 50th Hunger Games reaping day (everything went wrong after that, huh).

About Donner sisters. Peeta said that Mr.Mellark described them as “twins or something” and I interpreted this “something” as that they were not identical twins. Katniss was amazed by young Mrs.Undersee and Madge’s similarity but she didn’t have this feeling about Maysilee. So I think they looked like sisters but not super similar to each other. I mean, I’m a mother of identical twins, I know what I’m talking about lol.

These portraits are not perfect and were done quickly but I really tried 😅. Funny fact: overall I have more clear vision of SQQ characters than THG characters, haha (especially young Haymitch, Mr.Everdeen, Hazelle and Mrs.Mellark). Oh, and you have no idea how much time I’ve spent on these files lol. I don’t even know WHY I did it, because obviously no one cares, but this idea lived in my head for far too long. Ugh, I’m finally free of it. And now I need to return to my work and also main series uffffffff.

P.S. “agent Fox” is Haymitch’s girl, but I have no decent head canon for her

P.P.S. I don’t mention any names because I try not to be too attached to particular names for these characters (who knows maybe one day Suzanne will reveal some information and I don’t want to be upset lol)

DISAPPROBATION

SUMMARY: Disapprobation refers to the act or state of disapproving or of being disapproved of - Peeta disapproves of Katniss’s fiery ways, and Katniss disapproves of Peeta’s stick-by-the-book ways. But when fate steps in, can they hold on to their mutual animosity or will they fall in love? An Enemies to Lovers trope set in District 13.

LAST CHAPTER (6) SUMMARY: Katniss and Peeta were ambushed just as they were getting closer. Katniss was shot while combating Peacekeepers that popped up in District Ten. Will they discover why Peacekeepers were in District Ten? And how will Peeta get Katnis the medical help she requires? Read the exciting conclusion of Disapprobation.

So, the other day, I was looking through some of my old screencaps of the AA games, and I noticed a small, yet interesting parallel between two characters we never actually meet on screen.

These lines of dialogue stand out for a couple of reason For one, it provides a general idea when Misty took over the role of Master from her sister: either 1998/9, around the time if not shortly before Maya was born.

But, perhaps the more interesting point, and the reason I made this post, is that it implies something about Misty's husband. Now, we don't know anything about him besides that he died shortly after Maya's birth; but, if he stayed married to Misty for at least ten years, he had to have enjoyed at least a slightly happy relationship with her. And there wouldn't have been anything in it for him, because everyone at the time was expecting Morgan to become the Master

In comparison, Morgan's first husband is outright said to have only loved for her the power. Once he realized that Morgan would never become the Master, thus never be able to afford him the desire for power he craved, he abandoned her, taking their kids with him.

It's an interesting contrasting when you consider how relationships generally tended to either end in bitter divorce or with the man leaving.

So we know that Everlark would have happened anyways, regardless the universe or circumstances but not many people talk about how different Katniss’ personality and behavior would be in a universe where Mr. Everdeen survived. This is a girl who used to play house and proudly raised her hand to sing The Valley Song on the first day of school (I could never) people!

She lost her father during the age range that most girls start puberty (8 - 13 years old) and was thrusted into being a mother figure for Prim and head of household thus not allowing her to explore normal things that kids that age do such as developing romantic thoughts and feelings.

In a universe where Mr. Everdeen lived I see her still being a bit of an introvert and reserved but I doubt she would walk with a scowl on her face all the time and try to project an image of intimidation and indifference in order to protect her own feelings. Seeing the love her parents share at that age would most likely lead to be more comfortable accepting her compassionate side and as well as have a positive effect on her early interactions with Peeta (how they finally talk to each other is up your imagination lol).

I also see Madge being her best friend in this universe instead or Gale but I have a question for you guys. Given that her and Gale’s relationship was forged out of them both becoming head of household at young ages and being transactional where taught each other in exchange for something to provide families, do you think they would become friends?

PART 3 OF JAMESON HAWTHORNE IRL (YES, I'M TURNING THIS INTO A SERIES)

As many of you have seen from my previous post about this wonderful event, I met Jamie irl and our moms are friends from uni!! I called him at 1 am where we live and talked for nearly an hour. We had talked at the embassy for a while, but we really got to know each other and our full names (his middle and last name are even better). So his full name is James Maxime Beaumont and he's part FRENCH. LIKE WTF?????? Yeah, I actually asked him if he had heard of tig and reminded him of how I said that he looked like Jameson, but guess what?! MY MAN'S READ THE FIRST BOOK!! HE ALSO HAS TWO BROTHERS, GABRIEL AND THEODORE (I'LL TRY TO SET SOME OF YALL UP). He made the dumbest jokes and when I asked him to ask me a riddle (yes @f4iry-bell, I asked him) and you know which riddle he asked me???? "What can be touched but can't be seen?" Out of the millions of riddles he could've asked, he picked this one?!?!? And you bet it touched my heart 😉(please tell me someone understood that). We just rambled on and on about the weirdest things and it was really comforting for some reason. WE'RE ALSO GOING TO MEET UP WHEN OUR MOMS DO!! I CAN'T WAITTTTTT

The parallels between Katniss and her mother are quite apparent when it comes to their reactions to grief (as displayed when Mrs. Everdeen lost Katniss’ father and when Katniss lost Peeta and Prim). There’s been posts made about that on here many times before.

But we never really explore the opposition in their choice of man. What I mean is, we’re led to believe (granted, based on very little hints in the first book) that Mrs. Everdeen was with Mr. Mellark in some fashion, at the very least. Enough that he felt it was not only plausible that he could marry her but seemed to be still holding a candle for her all those years later. Mr. Mellark was a merchant, someone from her side of the district, part of the well-to-do class of Twelve. But she instead chose Mr. Everdeen, a poor, coal miner who couldn’t only give her a simple life in the Seam. A life that is much more difficult objectively and in a place that even her own daughter claims she sticks out like a sore thumb in (appearance wise).

Katniss, her daughter, on the other hand, chose Peeta in the end. Even before Mockingjay, it was obvious to anyone really paying attention (in the story or as a reader) who’d she fallen in love with. Gale was a strong, attractive guy from the Seam, who’d lived a pretty parallel life to hers, who was her partner in crime — literally — and her best friend. Everyone expected them to get together. Even the reporters who came from the Capitol took one look at him and thought he seemed like a threat to the idea of the Star-Crossed-Lovers being portrayed on the television screens. And yet, Katniss chose Peeta, not Gale. Peeta, who at the start, she seems to have nothing in common with. Not in terms of their upbringings (she was super poor and starving, he was popular and more comfortable but implied to suffer from heavy child abuse) and not in terms of their mindsets either. But there was an inexplicable attraction between the two, an instinctive pull bringing her back to him no matter how much she tried to fight it. And I suspect her mother had the same feeling, for Mr. Everdeen. That feeling is what led Katniss to choose Peeta over Gale, despite the fact that Gale may have seemed from an outside, detached perspective, like her natural choice of romantic partner. And that feeling is probably what also led her mother to make the same choice all those years before.

Idk I just think it’s interesting that Katniss chose Peeta but her mother — in a lot of ways — chose her Gale. Although there’s a strong argument to be made that her mother was actually choosing her version of Peeta by choosing Katniss’ father but my brain’s not there quite yet.

This post also could have been written and summed up a lot quicker if I’d just said, the love triangle between Katniss, Peeta and Gale and the love triangle between Mrs. Everdeen, Mr. Everdeen and Mr. Mellark are actually parallel love triangles that ended with the woman choosing the opposite type of man.
