STWG Prompt “You’re Shaking”

“You are shaking.” Alexei’s voice was low, his accent a balm for Murray’s aching head.

Murray tried to answer, but it came out in a sneeze. The trip from Russia had been harrowing and long, he might argue longer than the trip there. At least being drugged had let him get some sleep. He sniffled and tried again. “Just a cold.”

“You are too warm.” Alexei pulled another blanket over Murray’s shivering form. It was embarrassing, even hidden in the little room in the back of Jim’s partially destroyed cabin.

Murray had called in a favor before leaving for California, had Alexei stay with the Harrington kid. Judging by the way the kid had looked like he’d been dragged from hell, Alexei had gotten into some shenanigans here in Hawkins. “You could lay down with me.”

“No funny business.” Alexei shrugged off his jacket and got into the bed, sharing his warmth.

Murray wasn’t much of a touchy person, never had been. But something about his companion made him want to hold and be held. He liked tucking his head under Alexei’s chin and listening to the slow, even beating of his heart.

He felt loved, and it was… nice.
