Spider headcanons!

He loves pizza. He would eat pizza every hour, every day, every second of his life. One day Norm gave him a slice of pizza. Spider accepted it jumping with happiness. "Give me that! Give me that!" he said and stole the slice of pizza from Norm's hands and he went off nibbling it so as not to finish it all at once. He got into a conversation between Kiri, Neteyam and Lo'ak in the village as he continued to eat the slice of pizza. While he listened the three talking he kept eating the slice of pizza staring at them. The three blue aliens glared at him and Kiri was giggling. "What? I was hungry!" Spider said as he spoke with his mouth full.

Even as soon as he got a little familiar with Quaritch, Spider asked him shyly lowering his head like a beaten dog: "Do you have some..pizza?" he said with puppy eyes (Lyle gave him a slice)

Spider has always loved to pay respect to the Sully parents. Even if he didn't get along very well with them and he thought maybe Neytiri hated him, when they asked him something he always answered with a joyful but respectful tone. He's so silly.

While he is technically the biggest of all but the shortest, he remains the most childish and silly along with Tuk.

He often makes silly faces even to make Kiri laugh if she's down.

He always stumbles. On everything. He can't walk straight. Is there a twig on the ground? He stumbles. Is there a slice of pizza that was probably looking for oh the ground? He stumbles. Is there a stone on the ground? He stumbles.

He makes goofy jokes but they're funny precisely because they're goofy. He makes too many jokes, even at inopportune moments. Are they talking seriously? He makes a joke. They all glare at him and he blushes and looks to the side. "What? It was to defuse!"

He can be a very flirty guy.

In addition to having a small knife and a bow, he has a stick. He is very able and strong with his stick and can be very dangerous when he uses it. He loves to spin it and once hit Lo'ak's face: "PLEASE DON'T TELL NEYTIRI ABOUT THIS I WILL CURE YOUR WOUND!!"

Although he proves to be very confident and sure of himself, he is afraid. He is scared and very insecure of himself. Basically false confidence.

He always kept his pain inside. He never shows it to anyone and hates talking about feelings.

He always try to be nice to everyone.

He hates bullying. He was bullied by some Na'vi and he suffered a lot. He still feels very ridiculous.

Despite everything he's been through he doesn't give up and goes on with life hoping for a miracle one day.

He can speak Spanish quite well.

Even though he is a boy who has lived in nature, many times he can be very intelligent and cunning. He loves science, technology and astronomy. Once he and Norm created an experiment on a flower, another fixed Jake's gun (Norm taught him how to) and he loves to look at the sky. He goes to watch it especially with Kiri. As soon as he sees a shooting star he leaps to his feet and jumps in excitement: "LOOK LOOK KIRI KIRI! A SHOOTING STAR! I SAW A SHOOTING STAR! I I'LL EXPRESS A WISH!". He points to the sky and then kneels down on the ground "praying". "I'll never tell you my wish! It's a secret!" and then he goes to tell it the whole world.

He's lazy. He falls asleep without realizing it in less than a second and then randomly wakes up: "Did I just..fell asleep??"

He suffers from insomnia. He oftentimes has nightmares and when he has them he goes to sleep with Kiri. The kid is too scared.

He listens to pop and hip hop music.

If he had a crush he would probably be very shy and would play with his fingers whenever he saw his crush.

Totally randomly sometimes he goes to hug anyone. He once hugged Lo'ak. "Lo'ak I missed you so much!!"

He has mood swings, lack of patience and fits of rage and panic. When he has panic attacks he tends to almost tear his hair out in horror.

He's afraid of horror movies. If he looks at them twice, however, they have no effect on him. Once they were watching a horror movie in Norm's room and Spider tended to look down, hug Kiri's arm or shelter his head in Kiri's arm. "I-I have to go to the bathroom! Hehe.." At the end he never came back.

He looks like a little angel but he can be very dangerous.

Love and hate physical contact. There are times that he craves it especially from Kiri, times instead when as soon as they touch him he stiffens and does everything to walk away. He feels uncomfortable.

He loves salty more than sweet.

If he had to choose between white chocolate and dark chocolate he would choose white. He loves melting chocolate in his mouth.

He's an iPad kid.

He can be very childish and literally behaving like a child. He hugs Kiri like a baby and a koala and stays in the hug for about 10 minutes. He makes little cute noises like a kid. When he was with Quaritch he loved to watch cartoons while hugging him.

Every time he sees something he likes, he gets "stars in his eyes" and starts jumping for joy.

When he gets angry, he turns red like a little tomato.

He blushes very often.

When he is down or very tired he goes to hug Kiri. She's his only strong point.

A Little Closer (Captain Rex x GN Asexual Aromantic Reader)

Warnings: minors DNI, frank discussions of sex but nothing more, some chaste kissing, reader is sex-repulsed aroace, angst in regards to Order 66 (I'm sorry okay! This was getting long and I didn't know how to also make it an Everyone Lives AU also)

A/N: I wrote these headcanons for clones with ace partners and basically now I want to write at least one fic for each clone with a partner who is somewhere on the aroace spectrum.  (I’m taking requests if you have any.)  Ultimately the relationship in this one is going to be a queerplatonic partnership with I love yous. There is some reverse comfort. No use of reader's pronouns.

You sat near 79’s and wanted to cry.  All you could think about were those many nights with the 501st boys, laughing, eating, dancing, and sharing stories.  You didn’t jump on the dance floor immediately, but it was hard to be shy when Hardcase, Fives, and Jesse all shuffled you toward the center of the room.  They had no shame in their dance moves and brought out more of your fun side.  You smiled to yourself as you thought of all the times you talked and took their mind off the war.  You remember the night someone had pulled the fire alarm and you were all kicked out. You invited the boys home to hang out for a little while.  Rex chuckled watching Tup, Dogma, Kix, Fives, Jesse, and Hardcase all try to sit on your couch followed by Hardcase insisting there was room for everyone as long as you, Rex, and Echo sat on their laps. There was not, in fact, any more room and your poor sofa creaked beneath them.  You just grinned and got some extra chairs out and moved the table so everyone could sit somewhere. No one seemed to mind it being a little crowded.

It was the same night that the boys were discussing their futures. Not so much about the war, but Hardcase had met a woman he loved and disappeared to her every day he could when they were on Coruscant.  Jesse was in the process of getting to know someone and Dogma had a date lined up.  They had never been prepared for social relationships outside of the GAR, nevermind romantic relationships. They quickly turned to you for advice, as a nat-born.  

“Sorry to disappoint,” you said. “I’m aroace and will never have sex.”  Each man tilted his head and knitted his eyebrows slightly, mulling over this statement. You took the time to explain the spectrum of sexual and romantic attraction and that, yes, you still liked people and platonic relationships.  You even thought about having a committed relationship sometimes, but hadn’t found the right person for that.  You carefully waded into the topic of lost loves and unspoken wishes when you knew a friend would only remain a friend. You told them you dreamed more about building a home and sharing a life with someone, but that didn’t have to include the things romantic movies seemed to covet.  

“Are those things not important regardless of how you feel about sex, or even romance?”  The question came from Rex, who up until now, had been practically silent. You looked into his eyes, and felt a spark of hope.  It was quickly interrupted by a well-meaning Hardcase.

“Yeah, I love more than sex. I feel a connection when I’m with my girlfriend. She understands me. We spend time doing more than making out and getting naked.”

“Thank you for that information,” Tup said, rolling his eyes.

You smiled, getting his meaning.  “I think that strong, long-lasting relationships are built on closeness and understanding.  There are some people out there who have no interest in getting close to someone on an emotional level and only want the physical, sure. I think it’s pretty normal to figure out what you want and seek that out.”

“People tend to want to be understood and care for each other,” Rex added quietly.  The men all nodded their heads and you couldn’t help but find a smile tugging on the corner of your mouth.

You didn’t tell the boys some things. Like how you were sometimes up front about being sex-repulsed because you knew it would weed out some people.  It felt like a shield against future pain.  You knew not everyone would understand and you didn’t want to waste your time, but that night you felt like they were doing their best to understand.

You now felt a pang thinking back to that night.  All those men figuring themselves out in the way that nat-borns normally had years to do.  They grew up too fast to fight a war, but they had the same basic needs and desires as anyone.  Now that the Empire was in power, so much had changed.  You didn’t know where they all were, but you missed each one of them.  You especially missed Rex.  That night had been one filled with hope for you.  Hope that someone would understand what you wanted in a relationship and not demand you sacrifice your body and wishes for their own needs.  Now you were really alone, trying to figure out how to function with so much changed.

Your old job with the GAR had been terminated and you were left to trade parts and barter your skills as a mechanic.  It was in the process of trading parts that you met the Martez sisters.  One night you found yourself on their platform, agreeing to help fix a ship for a friend of theirs while they were off on a job. You weren’t given a name or anything, just a description that included blonde hair and a more thorough description of the ship. They neglected to tell you that he was a clone.  The ship landed and you stepped toward it as the door opened to reveal a familiar face.

“Rex?” You dropped the tool in your hand and tears came to your eyes. He was dressed more like a civilian, but that face was unmistakable.

His breath was nearly knocked out of him as he quickly covered the short space between you and pulled you into his arms.

“It’s so, so good to see you,” he said, breathing a sigh of relief.  “I wanted to find you. Find someone. After everything I couldn’t come back to the barracks. I couldn’t…” His voice was barely a whisper and he pulled you in for another hug.

As you worked on his ship, he helped, handing you tools and filling you in on what happened.  You thought of Hardcase, Tup, and Fives gone. You mourned for them during the war.  Now Jesse. Rex didn’t know what happened to Dogma or Kix, but at least Echo was okay. He sat, staring forward, and tears streamed down his face.  You stopped your work and sat next to him, pulling him close while he cried into your shoulder.

As he quieted he apologized.  “I’m so sorry. I think of them every day.”

“You don’t have to be sorry, Rex. I miss them. I missed you. I never thought I’d see you again.”

That day changed your life.  You did everything you could to help Rex and the network of clones.  When more were rescued, you were ready with food and clean clothes.  You fixed ships and saved credits.  Eventually, you started going on missions that weren’t so much on the dangerous side as the practical side. Helping rescued clones start new lives in a handful of places that were as far away from the Empire as possible, expanding the network.  You helped Rex find several places to lay low and a few escape routes through the galaxy.  While you had offered to come on all the missions, he insisted he didn’t want you put in the way of more danger, but then one day, Rex and Gregor barely made it back.  You and Wolffe were waiting after a supply run and were both practically tearing your hair out.  

“What happened?!” You both shouted once the door to the shuttle opened.  Gregor explained that there had been some mechanical trouble, lost comms, and they had to jump around that part of the galaxy for a while to find someone to assist. 

“It was beyond our expertise,” Rex added.

You rolled your eyes. “If only you knew someone who was a mechanic,” you replied.

“It’s too dangerous,” Rex insisted.

“I chose this, Rex.”  You looked between him, Wolffe, and Gregor. “Now I know Gregor and Wolffe have told me that they would appreciate the help, but you keep saying ‘no.’ Why? I’m with you. I want to do this!”

Gregor and Wolffe froze in place and silently looked between each other and Rex.  Rex just rolled his eyes and sighed.

“I don’t want you getting hurt,” he admitted.

“Then help me with my blaster aim.”

He couldn’t help but grin at that.  Joining the boys consistently changed a lot of things.  You became better on your feet in sticky situations and since you weren’t a clone, you blended into certain scenarios much easier.  It was an advantage.  You also got to know the boys much better.  Knowing someone you worked with and becoming friends that way was one thing.  Living on a ship with them, sometimes for months at a time, was another.  While you had become closer to all three of them, you started to feel something for Rex that couldn’t quite be put into words. It was some form of love, but you didn’t know what to make of it.

One evening Gregor and Wolffe turned in early so they could get some sleep before their watch.  You stayed sitting by the campfire with Rex.  You felt some discomfort from him, but waited as he formed his thoughts.  Your heart dropped at the thought he might have noticed you acting a bit differently around him. Were you acting different? You couldn’t quite tell.  You tried to play it cool, but that didn’t always work out.  You were brought out of your thoughts when he cleared his throat.

“Hey,” he said quietly. “How do I put this?”  You waited until he continued. “Many rotations ago, a few cycles ago now, we were at your place with some of the boys talking about relationships and you said you don’t feel romantic love or want to be, umm, intimate.  Is that still true?”

“Wha?” The partially-formed word left your lips before you could stop it. You weren’t expecting him to be so forward. “Yeah. Yeah I still feel that way.”

Rex continued. “But you do feel love. I mean, you show us all love in some form. And I was just wondering if you… if it’s okay that I love you.”

“If it’s okay that you love me? Of course it’s okay,” you answered, much to his relief.

“I just don’t know how to go about some of these things,” he said, “But I feel such love for you. Love unlike any I’ve known. I don’t know what to call it and in many ways I don’t care.”

“I do love you,” you told him. “I am happiest with you, even on the worst days when everything breaks down. I am most content with you. My footing is solid when you’re with me.”

Rex scooted a little closer to you. “How can I show you how I feel? What do we call this?”

You shrugged at the last part. “Let’s figure it out together. Maybe we could start with this.” You held out your hand to take his and he gladly intertwined his fingers with yours.  He wanted to kiss you, but asked first.  You didn’t want to say no, but simply said, “Give me time.”  He nodded and instead rested his forehead on yours. That felt pretty perfect.

It took time to figure out what did and didn’t work for you.  You always enjoyed the idea of cuddling and started there.  You invited him into your bed, first for afternoon cuddles and then to sleep.  You were both asleep almost instantly once you found a comfortable position in each other's arms. You started spending time snuggling against each other and one day while sitting in the cockpit he gently started to pull you onto his lap.

“This okay,” he asked. 

You nodded and sat.  You rested your forehead to his and put an arm around his shoulders, whispering “I love you.”

When your ship was barely worth anything for scarp, you sold it, and were surprised to find Rex already knew what ship you’d get next.  It wasn’t new, but it was still in excellent condition.  When you moved your belongings inside you found that there were only three bunks, but he then showed you how a fourth extended out from the wall, giving the two of you more room in bed together.

“I love this,” you said. “Is that the only reason you picked this ship?”  

He grinned and scratched the back of his head. “Well, not the only reason. There’s also more storage space.”

You looked into his deep brown eyes. He had put so much thought into it just to make sure you were comfortable and not squished too badly between him and the wall.  You realized that this was the nicest bed he’d probably ever slept in and your heart danced thinking about how you’d be the one sharing it with him.

When it came time to turn in, you found Wolffe and Gregor laying in the bed, hands behind their heads, looking up at you.

“What are you two doing?”

“Who says you and Rex get this bed,” Gregor playfully asked.

“Maybe we’d like to stretch out a bit sometimes,” Wolffe added.

“Well, finish your stretching and get going because I need to snuggle with my partner.”

They both looked at you with raised eyebrows. You hadn’t put a name to the relationship before, but your heart sang at the word. Partner. Rex was your partner and that made you very happy.  When he came to bed, Rex found you laying under the covers reading a holonovel.  The lights were low and he felt calm as he got in next to you.

“Partner, eh,” he asked with a soft smile.  You nodded with a shy smile, not realizing he overheard.

“I like that,” he said. “Feels pretty perfect.” 

He laid down and opened his arms up for you. You smiled as he pulled you.  You buried your face in his neck and gave him a little squeeze.  

“I love you, Rex.”

“I love you too.”  You both fell asleep feeling at total peace.

Life would not always be easy. Certainly hiding from the Empire was hard enough, but then there was dealing with the psychological aftermath of the war.  On the eve of Empire Day, you woke up to Rex shaking in his sleep. His mumbles got louder and you shook him, whispering his name to wake him.  When he woke up, his eyes searched yours in a frenzy as tears streamed down his cheeks.  He looked lost and utterly devastated. You knew he was dreaming about his chip activation.  You don’t know what came over you, but you kissed his forehead and caressed his face, wiping his tears away.  You’d never kissed before, but it was the best way you could express that everything was okay now, you were here with him, you loved him, and he didn’t have to be afraid.  The emotions overwhelmed him and he sobbed for a little while as you cradled him in your arms.

“It’s okay now,” you said quietly. “You’re here with me and I’m not going anywhere.”

As he calmed down he looked into your eyes. “Can I kiss you too?”

“Yes,” you said.  “I’m sorry I took so long to come around to it.”

“No, no, don’t be sorry for knowing what you need,” he replied.

“Maybe not on the lips,” you asked.

“I know. How about your beautiful cheeks?”

You nodded.  Rex cupped your face and kissed each cheek.  He nuzzled his nose against yours ever so gently.  Your body felt a little stiff, taking in the new sensation, but it was wonderful and you soon melted into his arms again.

“I like that,” you admitted.

“So do I.”

The next morning you woke up before Rex and while usually you’d get up and ready for the day, you decided to stay in bed with him.  As if he could sense you making this decision, he held you a little closer.  You smiled to yourself.  When you both eventually got up, you found Wolffe and Gregor around a fire, making a late breakfast.  You joined them, you sat right next to Rex, arm against arm as you ate.  You leaned your head against his shoulder and he instinctively put his head on yours.  It was the best place in the galaxy and you wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Louis headcanons!

I think it's kind of a fandom headcanon in general/arguably just canon, but I see him as by far the least suicidal and the closest to mentally healthy of the brothers. He's still got issues though.

While I don't object to seeing him other ways (you know I very much enjoy your Sherlouis fic) in my own fics and headcanons he's always entirely aroace. I really like the idea that he is entirely fulfilled by the relationships he has with his friends and family, and they all love him back so much, and he just doesn't need or want anything else.

He just...he's just really awesome. I know I'm a broken record about this, but I think he is THE natural leader of the three. I think he is strong and smart and brave and practical and inspires loyalty and fits perfectly into his position as M. I think he knows when to challenge Mycroft and when to obey him: and I think he knows when he needs to let his own subordinates challenge him and when he needs to insist on simple obedience. I think that balance allows him to ensure the absolute best outcomes on all missions, to make sure everyone is as safe as they can possibly be.

Similar note, I firmly headcanon that he and Mycroft became friends during the timeskip. I think they bonded over quiet grief, but also that they are just similar enough to get along. I think they sometimes just hang out reading in the Diogenes Club together. Louis lowkey ships MycAl, because if he has to get the annoying Holmes as a brother-in-law he might as well get the cool one too.

I don't think he's inherently as neat a person as he might seem. I think he's thoughtful of Albert's needs when he's around, and that like Liam, he hasn't given much thought to his own likes and dislikes pre-timeskip, as his thoughts about his barren room at the start of The Remains suggest. He's also managing basically a pack of overgrown toddlers, so he has to be really tidy just to keep up. But I like to think his own space, once he's invested in living and when he doesn't feel it will unsettle his brothers, has a cozy lived-in clutter to it. Not dirty, just...comfortable.

Post-timeskip he secretly actually kind of likes Sherlock but shhh don't tell anybody about it.

I think he and John will get along really well if they get to know each other.

I also think he and Billy will get along really well when they get to know each other, though I think it might kinda surprise them both!

Hunt/low, Camileda, and Gustholomule for the ship ask thing

This ship is my: Hhhhhhhhhh (almost typed "shit" instead of "ship" lmao)

I consider this ship's feelings: Platonic.

I'd consider the relationship: Healthy (Hunter is still learning healthy relationships though)

Children: No.

General Opinion: I've never liked the ship, because I didn't think their dynamic was interesting, and also because I headcanoned Hunter as gay (and aspec) - and I remain committed to that hc (and I already liked Huntric). I also admit that there's not many m/f ships I'm into (the only one in this fandom so far is Caleb x Wittewife). And now I also hc Willow as aroace, so there's that too.

Ever since they interacted on screen, I started to dislike the ship even more, because now it's everywhere, a bunch of it is untagged, and it's insufferable. I don't see how the romance could possibly serve the story, and I don't want either character - especially Willow - to end up just being seen as part of a ship instead of being their own character.

I will continue to headcanon/believe that Hunter has strong platonic feelings for Willow and simply mistook them for a crush - and if they get together, that they're both mistaking platonic feelings for romantic ones.

General Opinion: I used to kinda like this one, but completely lost interest ever since Raine got introduced. Sure, you can say how Eda has two hands, and I do headcanon Camila as bisexual, but I only like Raeda. Plus, I think it'd be interesting to see how Camila and Eda are going to co-parent Luz while not being partners or having any romantic interest in each other.

Bucky:

Sexuality Headcanon: gay, but with a little bit of internalized homophobia due to nothing but the time he was raised in, but is slowly working to break that down and accept himself and his sexuality. wont admit he's gay yet, but i leaning towards unlabeled/bisexual.

Gender Headcanon: i personally get the nonbinary vibe from him, and i feel like he likes to experiment with wearing different styles of clothes, but again, because of his upbringing, he won't admit it, at least for a while.

A ship I have with said character: stucky. obviously stucky. but my second face is sambucky because sam <3

A BROTP I have with said character: him and thor would be best buds. 100%. thor would chop the head of anyone who dare say a single negative comment about Buck.

A NOTP I have with said character: Yelena and Bucky. just no. for a million reasons why. 1) him and Natasha had a history, and Yelena is her younger sister, so for him to move from Nat to Yelena after Nat sacrificed herself to bring him back is just yuck. and 2) Yelena is aroace, and has mentioned that she feels nothing beyond platonic love for those around her.

A random headcanon: i feel that he has sensory issues. my other headcanon is that hes autistic but people get mad when i bring it up so we'll talk about his sensory issues. i think this because with enhanced senses, everything is more intense, so he has to have issues with loud noises and certain smells just because he's enhanced.

General Opinion over said character: i love him. i love my little bucky, my boobky, my Jamie boy. he deserves nothing but the best and Kevin i will chop your head off if he doesnt get that. thats a threat, Feige. I WILL DO IT.

Harry Potter:

Sexuality Headcanon: i think he’s straight, but definitely would sleep with Ryan Reynolds if given the opportunity.

Gender Headcanon: he/him

A ship I have with said character: Ginny obv. she’s the only person i can ever see him with

A BROTP I have with said character: Ron bc Ron never cared about the fact that he was famous, he saw a lonely boy sitting alone and decided to befriend him because that’s what Molly taught him to do.

A NOTP I have with said character: Draco. while i love enemies to lovers, i don’t think harry would be okay with the fact that his parents were in the cult that killed his own parents. he wouldn’t do it, no matter how attracted he was to draco physically.

A random headcanon: he’s very protective of all his children, but especially Lily. she’s named after his mother, and has red hair as well, so he definitely goes Papa Bear when something upsets his baby girl.

General Opinion over said character: i adore him. he’s so strong, and has remained happy despite the amount of devastation, abuse, and death he’s been surrounded with since he was 1. he achieved so much in his first 17 years of life, and he deserves to life the rest of his life in peace, and i hope to god he’s in some form of therapy because he should not have been fighting for his life, trying to kill someone and protecting hogwarts at 17. he didn’t deserve the life he was given and guck dumbledore for not preventing that and dying like a coward to escape his mistakes.

i haven't read the silmarillion or anything related but i was wondering how do elves's fëas work?? like i read somewhere about them sharing this fëa bond with people they marry so their fëas meet and that's what makes the marriage marriage in the first place. but im not really sure about that, don't people's fëas normally touch even if they're not married? and what happens if they do touch? this is weirdly specific but im just curious,,,you don't have to answer if you don't want to ofc! thank you if you do answer my curiosities haha and you still don't, ty too! Hey anon! So, a lot of what you're talking about is fanon, though it does have basis in canon. From "Laws and Customs among the Eldar" we learn about fëar and hröar and elvish (largely Noldorin, to be specific) marriage customs.

It's worth noting, though, that LaCE underwent many revisions and is a highly dubious document as it was written in-universe by Aelfwine, a mortal from the 9th century CE who found the Straight Road to Valinor. That concept in and of itself is a framing device for Tolkien's "translation" of the Red Book into English, and isn't one he kept consistent throughout his writing or one he was ever fully satisfied with - it never made it into the texts published within his lifetime, and doesn't make an appearance in the published Silm, either. And as I said in a previous meta dealing with LaCE:

Maybe this is something Tolkien changed his mind on between writing LaCE and writing this section of what became the published Silm. Or maybe this is an in-universe distinction: the in-universe writer of LaCE is unclear but implied to be a human, not an elf, possibly Aelfwine; the writer of the Silm as we see it is Christopher Tolkien’s edits of JRRT’s translation of Bilbo’s translation of Noldorin loremasters, the chief of whom was Pengolodh. It’s complicated.

That being said:

LaCE doesn't actually offer that much information on the nature of elvish fëar in relation to marriage. We do get the quote that "It was the act of bodily union that achieved the marriage, and after which the indissoluble bond was complete." Since human concepts of marriage are mostly legal/social engagements, and by no means indissoluble, this strongly implies something different is going on with elven fëar when they marry, but it's not stated outright. Still, the wording of "bond" in relation to "marriage" gives rise to the fan-embellished concept of a "marriage bond" that is very popular in fic/meta about elf marriages.

This concept is further supported by the description that a "greater share and strength of their being, in mind and body" is required for elves to create children (when compared to Men). It implies a closeness between a married couple where their "minds" (aka fëar) are as involved in the child-making process as their bodies. Later it is specified that after marriage, elves remain individual people with individual "gifts of mind and body that differ" - a strange thing to emphasize if there was not the possibility for misconstruing married elves as becoming literally one being.

For elves, marriage is forever: the Valar state that "marriage resides ultimately in the will of the fëa." Yet later in the same paragraph, it is explained that elves who are re-embodied need to be married again, because marriage is also of the body and the first body had perished. Confusing!

There are more notes about fëar in this essay, and the concept is mentioned in other places as well, but that's the basic gist of the concept AFAIK. (I highly recommend perusing LaCE yourself if you're interested in this topic! And remember that this is fandom, you can accept or discard certain aspects of the document as you see fit. I know I do.)

Most of your questions deal in extrapolation from canon - I would argue there's a strong basis for the concept of a marriage bond in LaCE, but it's not explicitly spelled out. I can't give you firm answers, but here are my personal headcanons about fëar and bonds. Everything that follows is headcanon, unless I explicitly state otherwise.

Elves are born with bonds with their parents; these bonds are important for the health and happiness of a growing child. (There's another line in LaCE about how the parting of parents and children in their youth is "a grievous thing," which is my starting place for this particular headcanon.) I also think that they have bonds with their siblings, though this is less supported; I just think that living with and sharing parents with someone is likely to foster the slower/less formal creation of a bond. Twins, however, are born with strong bonds between one another, having shared a womb.

(I also think certain Unbegotten elves - aka the first 144 elves who awoke at Cuiviénen - came into being with bonds, thus allowing for Unbegotten elves to have siblings, like Elwë, Olwë, and Elmo. But you could also argue that, depending on how you deal with timelines, those three brothers are not Unbegotten and were born the "normal" way.)

Then there are chosen bonds. These are the kind we hear discussed (albeit vaguely) in LaCE. Marriage bonds specifically are formed when elves "unite in body" and invoke the name of Eru. My personal (aroace) take on this is that sex makes the process of bonding much easier and faster, the naming of Eru and the intent to bond is what's really important, so if a couple would rather not have sex they can still bond. And it also opens up room for debate on which specific sexual acts count when it comes to bonding, what would happen if Eru's name wasn't invoked, etc.

But I also think bonds can be created in contexts other than marriage - found family, for example. I've seen this most discussed in the context of Kidnap Dads, but it could apply in many scenarios: you decide you want X person to be part of your family, and that means you want to bond with them. In the case of orphaned children, if you go with the idea that they need a parent-child bond in order to develop properly, this could provide substitute/adoptive parents to fill that role. Or it could be that you feel like a certain person is your sibling, but you weren't born of the same parents, but you still want them to officially be your family, so you form a sibling-bond with them. These are bonds that occur without the ~physical union~, and therefore take more time and effort, and thus are less common - but they do happen.

All these bonds are basically the same in terms of function: they make ósanwë (mind-to-mind/telepathic communication) much easier and more natural, they connect two fëar together in an indissoluble way, they show a depth of commitment and love between the bonded eldar. But they are valued differently in society, and created/brought into being in different circumstances.

As for fëar "touching" - that is, in my opinion, poetic license for communication/closeness through such a bond. If you touch your spouse's fëa, for example, that's connecting with them to see how they're feeling, possibly passing along comfort or a message, etc. This "touching" is basically ósanwë, I guess? Which, in my headcanon, you can do if you're not bonded to someone, it just takes more effort and closer proximity if you don't have a bond in place.

Do you think Platonic Rayllum would've been better than Romantic Rayllum or would it be the same? (This is not an anti post, I myself an a Rayllum shipper and I really love them)

So we’re gonna go on a deep aroace dive here. I will be providing terms and definitions as I go along, but if anything is confusing for anyone reading, please feel free to ask me by leaving another message in my inbox, or a quick google search. Both are great resources. 

For people who are aro or ace or both, like me, a lot of this may be familiar to you! For people who aren’t, particularly those who are cishet (sexually and romantically), strap in for a learning experience, lmao. 

I’ve talked before about Rayllum as a platonic relationship (i.e. not romantic) and its validity as a dynamic preference, aka, some people would have preferred Rayla and Callum to remain good friends and not develop romantic feelings for each other. My perspective on that remains the same. Totally valid, I have ships where I feel like they would’ve been better off as friends (even for no particular reason), etc. 

I’ve also written on what Rayllum’s romance adds to their own bond before, here, specifically in season three. 

Cause there’s actually three different relationship options for Rayllum, two of which are platonic.

Platonic Rayllum: no romantic feelings, they’re best friends, end up with other people (if they end up with anyone), what people are almost always talking about when they say “i wish they’d stayed friends / they were forced” 99.9% of the time. One of the very first pieces I wrote for the fandom leaned into this lens

Romantic Rayllum: what’s happened canonically, aka the evolution of best friends to best friends and lovers (not to, okay), widely loved and supported by the fandom since s2 in particular, shipping is fun, romance is fun. Usually also includes physical (sexual) attraction. 

Queer Platonic Rayllum: what I mean, 90% of the time, when I label something as platonic Rayllum. A life partnership between two people based upon friendship and emotional compatibility. No romance, but they would live with and prioritize each other the way most people would in a monogamous marriage.

I’m on the aro spectrum - alterous, to be specific, which means romantic and platonic attraction go hand in hand for me and separating the two is very, very difficult when both are present. Romantic attraction never pops up for me without also having strong platonic attraction. So I don’t even think I know what ‘pure romantic’ feelings even feel like, to be perfectly honest. 

And that undeniably affects how I view and have always viewed Rayllum. And I know I’m not the only one. A lot of people in the Rayllum fandom are aspec in some way (ace, aromantic, both, or on one or both of those spectrums). Like a lot. Demisexual Rayla and demiromantic Callum are like, semi mainstream headcanons in the fandom. Aspec headcanons are almost never popular, at least not as anything other than a way to get a character out of the way of another ship. Not in terms of shipping two aspec characters together. That’s a big deal.

But, to get my focus back on track again: 

One of the main reasons I leaned towards romantic Rayllum as a preference, both personally and narratively in S1, is because it’s actually harder for them to want to be together / life partners. That means living as an elf-human couple, figuring out where to live, their relationship being an embodiment of the show’s themes and the change they were trying to create in their world. That is a super strong narrative foundation for a relationship (especially for a show that’s blatantly about healing rifts, rather than stopping a war of clear cut imperialism, like ATLA). And yeah, shipping can be fun; it can be cute and blushy and I do experience elements of romantic attraction. Why not?

Platonic ‘just’ friends Rayllum ignores all of that narrative groundwork. There’s no embodiment, no struggle, no achievement. And people are definitely allowed to have their preferences, by all means - but yeah, I do think romantic Rayllum is thematically stronger for the show, for even more reasons beyond just narrative. 

Because the third option is a QPR (queer platonic relationship). I’ve never seen a QPR in media before. Usually, it’s between two men or two women, who are always shipped together, which makes me think of competing representation needs, bc on one hand - they’re not together because of heteronormativity - and on the other hand, fans thinking any close same-sex relationship has to be romantic can also fall into assumptions of amatonormativity. Either way, neither of us get any representation, as the relationship usually ends when one marries and moves on to their ‘proper’ life partner, or it’s a platonic life partnership they’ve ended up in due to other circumstances (divorce late in life, etc.) from their heterosexual romantic partnership. Not something they actively chose.

QPRs just mean no romance. That doesn’t mean everyone in a QPR is aromantic (although often, it’s a relationship many aros pursue), just that they’re not romantically attracted to each other (or if they are, it’s not in the traditional alloromantic way / not the relationship’s priority). But what that means in word and deed can be specific to each QPR, as a queer platonic relationship can still include:

getting married

not getting married

living together

kissing

no kissing

having sex (after all, there are people who are aromantic but not asexual)

not having sex

having children

raising children together

A platonic life partnership, but a life partnership in every way that matters all the same. This is Your Person. Period. You make all the big life decisions together. You love each other deeply. 

First and foremost, Rayla and Callum are each other’s partner. That’s been clear to me ever since 1x03, where they share a nod before the mission officially begins. 2x03 just doubled down on that for me, when Callum actively chooses / trusts Rayla over the girl he has a crush on. Platonic partnership > romantic attraction. 

So Rayllum as a QPR is how I see them if they weren’t the ‘traditional’ romantic couple. That lets me keep all the narrative groundwork I mentioned earlier. Because they still live together, and have to decide where to live together, and are still each other’s primary partner. 

There’s no world to me where they aren’t Partners. They live in the perfect intersection of my alterousness, and I love it, and it means a lot to me. And this is an attitude I’ve seen reflected heavily in the fandom from both aspec people and not, and it’s super nice because again, that isn’t the norm in most fandom spaces. It’s one of the reasons the Rayllum fandom is so special to me.

The thing is, writing a QPR in children’s media would be extremely hard. Because as I’ve already outlined, a QPR can have tenets that are 99.9% of the time portrayed as romantic. The only thing that makes some QPRs not ‘romantic’ is the intention of the people within that relationship and what they feel for each other. They aren’t romantically attracted to each other, then none of the interactions are romantic, period, but the actions, commitment, and shared life goals can all be the same as it would be in any other ‘romantic’ relationship. Nor am I expecting a show as tightly plotted as TDP to have the time to discuss all of this in depth the way that it would need to be, and given that is a kid’s show first and foremost - ie. 4-9 years old - discussions of asexuality don’t need to fit in that yet, as being ace does often contribute to the reality of a QPR as well. 

Should we have characters in children’s media who don’t have crushes on anyone, and that’s portrayed as normal? Yes, absolutely. That’s a very achievable form of representation for aro people and ace people (some ace people get crushes very easily, some don’t, so it all varies). But again, when it comes down to romantic attraction, when you examine it far enough, a feeling or action is only romantic because you deem it to be, and that’s going to be different for everyone. 

What matters to me, most of all, is narrative groundwork being brought to fruition. Especially when healthy, interracial m/f ships are still in desperate need of representation. So yeah, for the sake of simplicity, it’s a lot easier to portray to children a relationship that is healthy, supportive, with a balance of emotional labour and a strong foundation of friendship first and foremost, that also happens to include romantic feelings. 

Baby ace me lived for these types of relationships in fiction, that weren’t built primarily on tension, fighting, or subjective chemistry of any kind, but instead on how love could be predicated on easy emotional intimacy, friendship, devotion, and positive transformation (Peach/Mario from the Super Mario video games, Katara/Aang from ATLA was another, as was the movie “A Walk To Remember”). They were the only things that made me feel like I could have the sort of romantic (or not) partnership that I desperately wanted - and now have.

I will not be surprised, whatsoever, if Rayla and Callum come to occupy a similar spot in the hearts of the next generation of kids growing up ace and aro when they look back on their childhood. 

But beyond simplicity, then, why do I still lean a lil bit towards romance? Or perhaps, the first question is, what would have to change about the show for me to not want them romantically together (in canon - shipping something only in a fanon way is its whole other thing)?

Namely, Claudium. One of the reasons I like Rayllum is because post-s1, I always thought that Callum would get his heart broken in season two. Him getting a second chance at love, and to be loved this time in turn, is incredibly sweet. Asian guys aren’t often seen as desirable love interests, either, so there’s a nice bit of representation there as well. 

So if Callum never had the crush on Claudia, and it was a purely platonic relationship? One of many chunks in favour of romantic Rayllum would be lost, for his character. That, and pushing Rayla - who always likes to be calm, cool, collected, in control - into something as wildly out of her control as romantic affection is just another great, flustered side to her.

At the end of the day, romantic Rayllum is more fun to me. To explore, to write about, and in the early days to theorize on. I get the life partners, I get the flustered interactions, the strong platonic feels, and more. And usually when I have an OTP, they sit in this sort of alterous sweet spot - platonic life partners always, no matter what, with a little bit of romance thrown in if I want them to be, because that’s honestly exactly how my romantic attraction and relationships work. 

And I’m just so grateful that Rayllum exists, exactly as it does. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Hello thank you for your ask! No I don't mind talking about them at all! I love them all very much but please be prepared that this is going to be a long one and that I couldn't even fit everything I want to talk about in here

I have talked about Maglor's, Caranthir's and Curufin's wives before so I left them out on purpose. So I'm just going to talk about the third and fourth generation here.

If you exclude Elrond and Elros Maglor and his wife Cellin have four children and in order of their birth their names are Gilloth, Nelladon, Gilrin and Belegur. Gilloth has a son named Arrod, none of the other three are married or have children. Curufin and his wife Aiwë have one more child besides Celebrimbor, Aracundo. Celebrimbor himself has a son named Aenion. Caranthir and Calairie remain childless. I'm not sure yet where Gil-Galad belongs family wise in my headcanon but let's just assume he's Orodreth's son for convenience.

I don't exactly have stories for them all. Aracundo, Nelladon and Aenion are probably the most fleshed out one's when it comes to their stories but I love them all regardless.

Headcanon that Jiang Cheng (aroace extraordinaire in my humble headcanon) never ends up marrying or having kids. So, centuries after Wen Mau started to favour clan advancement over sect advancement thus effectively starting the shit-show that culminated in the Wen war against the other sects, one of the great sects actively does away with the practice. Saving his clan has always been Jiang Cheng's first priority and if he won't have children, he has the privilege of choosing his own successor according to merit alone. He chooses a bright young man or woman, with strong cultivation and an even stronger head on their shoulders as his heir.

When he dies, the Jiang family name dies with him, but the Yunmeng Jiang clan remains the Yunmeng Jiang clan and will do so until it ceases to exist, no matter the name of it's current sect leader. Jiang Cheng himself had to taken over when all that remained were a few war-weary cultivators and the smoking remnants of the vibrant, bright, lively place he had known as his home when he was a child. He had poured his heart and soul into rebuilding it, but his heart had been heavy and bitter and his soul so very lonely and so he hadn't been able to fill it with laughter and carefree smiles. That has never been him anyway. But the following generations will never know war and his heirs come from all over, bringing with them new foods and family members and vendors, filling the docs with life and laughter once more. Yunmemg Jiang soon becomes open, diverse and vibrant as it has ever been before it was burnt to the ground.

Jiang Cheng, known in life for his anger, his bitter scowls and sometimes even cruelty, leaves a legacy of hope, rebirth and new beginnings.

Random Headcanon

Every so often Kara likes to doodle when he feels like it. He has a sketchbook full of doodles and studies of his brothers, who he draws when they're all just lounging around the house. As such they're all in sitting or lying positions and he's able to capture their personalities in each doodle. There's a handful of pages that are just studies of Oso, reclining on the couch reading a comic, sleeping at the kotatsu or any number of things.

Choro raises succulents and it makes him feel happy because he's able to put his energy into nurturing something and watching it grow. It makes him feel better about himself because he gets to see something beautiful thrive because of his love and care! It's a positive and therapeutic feeling and it always makes him feel better when he's sad or anxious.

It's almost 2020 and we still have to say that Choro is not more perverted or cursed than any of the other brothers. They have all had poorly aging jokes at least once in the show by now. It's a shock humour comedy and we KNOW that they fluctuate almost every episode. We rely entirely on translated subtitles that are never going to be 100% accurate.

Choro is ALWAYS always drawn very moe and cute (partly due to Asano-san's influence as head illustrator) so his appearances in official art are (usually) very childlike in nature imo. So when the staff released this series of images it hit me like a truck because he looks really mature here?? It's a really good look for him, Mature Choro is not a thing we get a lot of (Kara occupies the Sexy box and Oso gets all the mature atmosphere just because he's the eldest) so this picture really sticks with me, I just love how grown up he looks.

Ok, some more Graceling thoughts! Here we go

Kat acknowledges that her anger is related to King Randa, that’s good. Page 122-123, she says to Po “If I don’t do what [Randa] says, he’ll become angry. When he becomes angry, I’ll become angry. And then I’ll want to kill him.” So… this acknowledgment is good! At least she’s voiced that now, I think that that is a good thing. Actually hang on - Po corrects her, as a matter of fact. He says she’s afraid of her own anger; She stopped then and looked at him, because that seemed right to her. She was afraid of her own anger. Po goes on to tell her that “Randa isn’t even worth your anger,” and that “[m]uch of his power comes from you.” Then there’s this part:

She was afraid of her own anger: She repeated it in her mind. She was afraid of what she would do to the king—and with good reason. Look at Po, his jaw red and beginning to swell. She’s learned to control her skill, but she hadn’t learned to control her anger. And that meant she still didn’t control her Grace, (pg 123).

I just… I really like this scene, is all. I like this acknowledgement of her anger, her powers, her thoughts and feelings towards and about Randa. I think it’s good for her, and tbh it may be partly catharsis for me. Idk.

Following that, at the bottom of page 123 Kat mentions Po’s family - specifically, how she thought his aunt had a strange way of dealing with grief (she’s stopped eating, locked herself and her children in her rooms, only allowing a servant for meals which they may or may not eat…). I just think it’s really interesting how Po himself didn’t know about that (and I think Po himself is curious as well!!). (I wonder why this causes Po to think about telling her about his Grace?).

Re: Kat is aspec headcanon. This is nitpick-y and definitely projection, but at the beginning of chapter 13 here:

Raffin had told her she wasn’t perceptive. Po was perceptive. And talkative. Perhaps that was why they got along so well. She didn’t have to explain herself to Po, and he explained himself to her without her having to ask. She’s never known a person with whom she could communicate so freely—so unused was she to the phenomenon of friendship. (Pg. 126)

First off, SAME here about not being perceptive. I‘m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this in another commentating thread, but when one of my close friends and I first met I didn’t know that they had a crush on me till like… idk, a few months of knowing each other, and I only knew because they told me themself, while everyone around us knew about it basically (friend is very affectionate towards their crushes). So like! Not very perceptive? Mood, same here. But also, the way I figure it - if it’s not something you’re looking for (if you’re not looking for romantic stuff), why would you see it (why would you notice when others have romantic stuff for you)? …You know? And just… idk, the last part about how she’s so unused to “the phenomenon of friendship,” I just… that makes me sad. It also makes me think she’s demiromantic? (Or like, it increases that thought/headcannon, seeing as I’ve mentioned it before…). Because like - to my understanding, demiromantic means that one develops a romantic attraction only after a deep bond is formed (although maybe even that is misleading…? Is what I’ve sort of heard… feel free to correct me of course). With Giddon, Kat was disgusted when she found out that he was in love with her (and also thinks he’s a fool for it, as if that’s a thing he could control, which to my understanding you can’t really help it when you develop a crush on somebody, but also I’m aroace so as far as I know who’s to say). With Po… well, we’re roughly a hundred and a quarter pages in, there’s obviously no mention of Love from either Kat herself or any whiff from Po (…that I’ve seen, at least, but I’m not very reliable), but at the very least I do think that this… deep bond is forming. (I feel like I remember the book ending with them not officially in a relationship, as in I think they tried it then stopped, but I guess we’ll see).

Oh, re: Kat is aspec headcannon. “Giddon’s hope [to marry Katsa] bewildered her. She couldn’t fathom his foolishness, to fall in love with her, and she still didn’t entirely believe it to be true” page 130. She literally thinks he’s a fool for falling in love with her and genuinely can’t understand it - she thinks it’s a joke.! I am now revising my headcanon to say she’s grayromantic; the label means a lot of things to a lot of people, but I sort of look at it like it’s the “gray area” between 0% attraction (aromantic) and 100% attraction (alloromantic). (It is other things, too, of course, but this is my simplified understanding/explanation for the term😋). I think she’s grayromantic because romantic attraction as a whole seems very foreign to her (see above quote) and she doesn’t understand it; when she finally feels that attraction with Po (I’m not there yet, but I remember it. A little) it’s rather strong (probably surprising? Ok I don’t really remember but that’s fINE-). …ok I lost my train of thought but I think this makes sense. Yeah? Ok

Re: Giddon’s in love with Kat.

“…at least I don’t have a holding that depends on me, as do you, Giddon. I don’t have a wife, as you do, Oll.”

Personally, I think he’s offended by this because he’s in love with her and wants to marry her. Like - she points out that she isn’t married like Oll is, but G is like her in that they both aren’t married, and he wants to marry her… so idk, I think he’s just slightly offended by this line. Since we’re on this page…

Katsa what the FUCK. (Reference to my earlier post, here, which says basically the same thing). Page 135, same as above -

“I’ll kill the king,” she said. “I’ll kill the king, unless you both agree not to support me. This is my rebellion and mine alone, and if you don’t agree, I sweat to you on my Grace I will murder the king.”

Katsa what the F U C K. Holy fucking shit!! I’ve been going buck wild since I’ve read this, Katsa what the ever helling shit!!!!! She didn’t know if she would do it. But she knew she seemed wild enough for them to believe she would. Kat holy shit!! That’s… kinda all I have to say on the matter! ‘Cause like wow, Kat!

G proposes to Kat - his first mistake is on page 139, when he says “You should let me protect you.” You fucker. You fool. That’s the literal worst thing you can say to someone as independent as she is, never mind the fact that she could stomp you like a leaf. Actually, she phrases what I mean better than I do: A man who thought himself her protector—her protector when she could outduel him if she used a toothpick to his sword (page 140). And then he asks her if she’d “refuse a suitable proposal?”, like! Sir! Do you know her at all!! Of course she’d turn down a “suitable proposal,” she doesn’t! Wanna get married! To anybody! Idk if she’s like, expressed this in court or to court at all or whatever, but like I’m pretty sure I remember her saying that she’s mentioned it to Randa before? (Or at least King can probably guess at that…?). And then!! And then!! Third mistake! : “…You’ll want babies. I’m certain of it.” She wants to hit him for this, and I do not blame her!! (Actually, the exact reaction is wayyy more funny: She hadn’t expected to have such an immediate opportunity to practice containing her temper. For he deserved thumping, to knock his certainty out of his head and onto the ground where it belonged, page 140). Granted, I’m amazed, impressed, and super proud of her for how she handles this situation - she breathes to calm herself down, remains level-headed while wanting to knock the certainty out of him, sticks with exactly what Raff suggested she stick with (the whole “it’s not you, it’s me” shtick). I’m really proud of her for that, I don’t think I could do that myself (I’d probably get overwhelmed and shut down tbh). Fourth mistake: he calls her a lady killer, the name that’s been used for her several times by other parties. Idk how she feels about the title, but it really bothers me that he used that for her here. He’s trying to hurt her, I think, in the same/similar way she’s currently hurting him, so he calls her what others call her, what others call her who are outside of her small group of friends and familiar people (…aside from King, I guess. Randa, who’s a trigger for her! So maybe G’s trying to anger/trigger her…? Anyways, moving away from the PTSD headcannon now…). Also, how shallow of him to assume that she’s more interested in Po because he’s a prince while G’s simply a lord (page 141) - how shallow to assume that she’s interested in him at all, in my opinion, because she isn’t (in that way, at this point, yet). As a side note, I kinda think it’s funny that G thinks that Po will leave if G tells him exactly what he thinks about him, because like - not that G knows this, but Po already knows!! It’s the… idk, the cosmic irony of it all. Is that the phrasing? I think it’s ironic… right? That’s the word? Because Po actually knows this already but G doesn’t think he does. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I misremembered Po’s Grace! (Well of course I did, I read this like 6 years ago…). It’s not mind reading exactly, it’s - “I sense people. [...] I sense people when they’re near me, thinking and feeling and moving around, their bodies, their physical energy. It is only—“ He swallowed. “It is only when they’re thinking about me that I can also sense their thoughts.” […] I can’t sit and listen in to whatever thoughts I want. I don’t know what you think of Raffin, or what Raffin thinks of Bann, or whether Oll enjoys his dinner. You can be behind the door running in circles and thinking about how much you hate Randa, and all I’ll know is that you’re running in circles—until your thoughts turn to me. Only then do I know what you’re feeling.” (Page 145). Tbh? This is super cool, like as a magic thing and I’m very excited about this concept. Also… I guess I still don’t like… I still don’t quite understand why she doesn’t like mind readers, specifically. I understand the fact that she’s upset about him lying to her about his Grace, about him “being a mind reader,” but… I don’t get it. Granted, I don’t usually understand [plot lines/subplots/tensions/whatever] where people get so twisted up over another person lying, so this is more of a me-thing than a book-thing. I’ve just never understood why people get so upset over lying, sometimes.

KYOKA SUIGETSU:    the sword.

kyoka suigetsu takes the form of a tachi,  slightly longer in both blade and hilt than standard - sized katanas.  the blade is 85cm long counting the whole cutting edge,  and it has a slight curvature that strikes a resemblance with an uchigatana,  while the hilt is roughly 28cm long.  it is best wielded with both hands,  which aizen frequently does,  and while it is still considerably lighter,  in terms of weight and length it can be considered equivalent to the spanish espada bastarda.  the hilt consists in an emerald ito sageo wrap and a golden samegawa,  whose color matches that of the octagonal tsuba.  kyoka suigetsu’s sheath is black,  and aizen possess a neatly adorned silver plate with a sword belt hanger,  fastened around his waist  &  hidden by the sash.  

KYOKA SUIGETSU:     the name.

the name of aizen’s zanpakuto is an evident reference to a chinese proverb.  the literal meaning of kyoka suigetsu  (  鏡花水月 )  is  “mirror flower,  water moon”  and it refers to something that is visible,  but has no substance / cannot be grasped,  as if it was reflected on water.

KYOKA SUIGETSU:     the spirit.

kyoka suigetsu manifests as a human - like feminine entity,  slender in body build with curves not particularly accentuated,  white eyes,  hair  &  skin.  devoid of melanin and warmth,  her appearance is that of something ethereal,  a ghost  ―  a gleam of moonlight reflected in a mirror.  her hair almost reaches her feet,  with two long strands falling over her shoulders,  and upon it,  suspended in front of her face so it covers the latter and her hair completely, a semi-transparent white veil concealing the entirety of her features besides their shapes.  her attire consists in a white kimono hemmed with violet decorations and flowery patterns,  and a corset worn under it;  a black mantle with a long train wipes her footsteps,  and it’s the only touch of dark she allows herself to wear in this form.  she walks barefoot,  and has no pupils:  her eyes are mirrors. 

in her bankai form,  kyoka suigetsu’s appearance nullifies.  all that remains of her is her veil,  white and luminous,  fluttering around and indistinct humanoid shape of white light.  in both forms,  her voice is low and steady,  akin to the rustling of old paper and leaves.  however,  she has no specific scent,  no accent,  her skin tastes like nothing;  she’s inconsistent,  evanescent,  imperious.  much like her wielder,  kyoka suigetsu is prideful,  amoral,  highly intuitive,  observant;  as a zanpakuto,  she is entirely devoted to aizen  ―  relentless and wise,  she has been guiding him until he could take the lead himself.  disliking negotiations and quarrels,  knowing the most intimate secrets and recesses of aizen’s being,  kyoka suigetsu is a less patient individual:  she shows appreciation for those who are loyal to her master,  while she does not spare her contempt and harsh words to those who are his enemies.

some facts:  *   when she manifests herself,  she and aizen cannot be too far from one another.  it physically hurts,  arousing a pain similar to mutilation,  being forcefully separated from each other  ―  aizen has never been capable of explaining this,  though.  some very old headcanon post explaining this concept better ! *   kyoka suigetsu formed shortly after aizen’s death as a human,  meaning that her creation within his soul was already based solely on the sensitive post-death experiences.  this means that unlike aizen,  kyoka suigetsu cannot speak spanish  ―  nor does she know anything about aizen’s prior death life.  *   unlike aizen,  kyoka suigetsu lacks any sort of impulses / desires besides the one to serve his master,  and of course,  besides aizen’s desire to achieve his goal.  she is a spirit,  a part of aizen’s soul,  therefore she’s utterly uninterested in any kind of sexual intercourse as well as romantic commitment.  hence,  she falls under the aroace category.  *   kyoka suigetsu,  both in sealed form,  manifested and bankai form,  is saturated in aizen’s reiryoku ... which is,  as i’ve told more in details in some of my previous headcanons,  is the soul king’s reiatsu.  

KYOKA SUIGETSU:     bankai.

the idea i got for aizen’s bankai is not entirely mine,  in the sense that hints to it and similar thoughts have been fluctuating in some parts of the fandom for a very long time  ―  however,  i liked it and i’ve always thought it made sense,  so i elaborated on it and formed my own headcanon.  while this topic would need a post on its own,  i’m going to state briefly here the things i thought out,  since everything is still very roughly shaped and has to be polished.  basically,  since aizen’s infamous shikai allows him to manipulate the perception of reality controlling his enemies’ senses,  it does make sense to me that his bankai could alter the state of reality itself.  something so strong,  dangerous and potentially irreparable that both him and kyoka suigetsu have always agreed on the absolute abstention from resorting to it,  if not in an exceptionally desperate situation.  

what aizen can do is changing the state of an existing object by rewriting the events that have brought to the direct formation of the current state of said object.  the similarities between his power and orihime’s phenomenon of rejection is what triggered his interest in her in the first place,  however their abilities are still radically different  ―  orihime brings an object to a previous condition,  while aizen changes the current condition by replacing a reason that has led to it,  with his reiatsu and kyoka suigetsu’s illusory properties easing the absorption of the paradox by the minds affected.  the process,  in terms of risk and energy,  costs a lot and he doesn’t have mastery over it exactly because it’s too risky.  the activation is an extremely rapid process,  in which aizen’s subconscious analyzes countless events and ‘what if’ scenarios to choose the one he sees fit,  therefore it is also very mentally expensive.
