Do we think Tommy spent months thinking I'll run into him soon. Next time I see him I'll be brave. I think it's worth being brave.

And okay they got a little distracted - how could he not get distracted by those flirty eyes, that flash of a smile, that familiar come get me tone in Evan's voice? How could he do anything other than flood with exhilaration and adrenaline, let himself be pulled into an Uber, pulled through a familiar house, Evan's hands firm on his body, tangling in his clothes like he wants Tommy. Wants him close, and needs to do anything other than be his addictive, magnetic self to achieve that. Tommy's in his orbit, always has been.

(But Tommy's a comet, he doesn't have a regular orbit. He passes through people's lives, gets close for a little while, then shoots off into space alone again.)

He lets himself forget that, though. Lets himself get lost in the way Evan kisses him, strips him, pushes him down onto a bare mattress like they're a pair of teenagers and takes him apart so thoroughly Tommy thinks Evan will be finding bits of Tommy all over this house for months. A bit of his heart here, a corner chipped away from his walls there, a scrap of his adoration there.

But the next morning - he can be brave. He's spent months wanting to be brave. He can be brave. Just this once. Just when it really counts. He can make it right. He can make it work.

He can be brave.

And I wonder how long after he'll spend telling himself, see? See? This is what you get. This is what you always get. This is what you deserve.
