Code: WTF (1/3)

hey, so here’s a little three part fun fic involving fbi agents and russian spies! (with just a little angst) enjoy!

warnings: a small depiction of death, but it’s not super bad

ship: platonic ralbert, platonic spalbert, soon to be sprace

Making decisions, Albert has come to realize, is not his forte. Granted, he’s generally good at helping others make decisions- he’s got that sort of innate way of looking at the whole picture, which is good when you’re trying to help someone sort through different situations. But he can never seem to apply this strong suit to himself.

Like when he was thinking of career paths and he’d spend hours at night staring at his ceiling and wondering whether or not he wanted to commit himself to a world of chance and danger and join the FBI. Because, wow, had that been a dream of his ever since he watched his first James Bond movie at nine years old. There was something thrilling about watching that action- seeing how he could use his sharp problem solving skills for something bigger than himself. He wasn’t sure if he was ready to pledge himself to something that seemed almost like a life sentence, but he also was never one to run from a challenge. So...after a couple years of college and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, he started studying for his Phase I assessment.

It was grueling. The entrance exam was no easy task and it only got harder from there with the ‘Meet and Greet’ and Phase II written assessment. Not surprisingly, though, he had made it through and soon he was off to Quantico, where he was tested against his own willpower for upwards of 21 weeks. It was tough, but he made it through with flying colors.

Shortly after his 28th birthday, on a sunny and almost too hot July morning, he’d been trying not to let a giddy smile spread across his face embarrassingly as Director Larkin swore in his class- awarding them with their badges and credentials. The smile did break through however when Larkin had looked directly at him while speaking of “Those most fit and impressively accomplished” and winked. But he was proud of himself. Sue him.

After the ceremony, Race- his roommate during Quantico whom he’d grown particularly close to- had handed over some suspicious looking store brand lemonade in a shitty, plastic cup and bumped their shoulders together, smiling as he raised his glass. Albert mirrored his grin and clinked their glasses together.

“To the dream.” Race had said, taking a sip.

Albert drank too, and echoed, “To the dream.”

Now, three years later, he’s finding that his bad decision making skills are still very present as he stares at the shelves of brightly colored cereal boxes, trying to decide what he wants this week’s breakfast to be.

As a Senior Special Agent, it’s very serious reconnaissance work.

Just as he’s reaching for a box of Dark Chocolate Crunch Cheerios, Race materializes next to him, looking a little tight around the eyes as he places a couple cans of Progresso soup into their basket.

His movements are calculatedly casual, but Albert knows him well enough to know his stress tells. The way his shoulders are just slightly raised, ready to launch into motion at the first sign of trouble. The tense of his jaw and the slight scrunch of his nose- as if he’s smelling something off. Bad.

“Hey, Al,” Race says, straightening. Even his voice is that sort of forced casual it gets when he’s inwardly freaking out about something, “Do you remember our trip to Morocco?”

A shiver runs down Albert’s spine and he gives himself credit for only hesitating for a moment before recovering. Morocco is their personal code for ‘hey, someone is definitely following us, so we either need to dip or do something about it.’

“The first or second trip?” Albert asks, his words just as rehearsed.

And that’s their follow up code. The first trip means it’s an unknown party; the second trip means it’s someone affiliated with whatever operation they’re currently assigned to.

Really, it’s counterintuitive to even ask, because they haven’t been on any major assignments in nearly a month now. Director Larkin had given them both time off from the big stuff after their last operation had gone decidedly south when they lost a couple of the DEA guys they’d been teamed up with in a surprise shoot-out against the drug corporation they were tasked with bringing down.

It was jarring to say the least, and neither him nor Race complained too much when Larkin had suggested laying low for a while. It was the first time they’d ever lost their own men on a mission and in such a gruesome way. Some arterial blood had sprayed Albert in the face, getting on his tongue and clogging up his nose. He doesn’t remember much after that. Race says he dissociated big time. Albert doesn’t really care. He just knows that he still can’t eat tomato sauce on his pasta, because the red of it still looks too much like--

Yeah, no. Alfredo sauce is a new favorite in the Dasilva-Higgins apartment.

“First trip.” Race says, watching as Albert carefully puts the Cheerios box in the basket.

The sudden feeling of being watched pricks at Albert’s neck and he resists the urge to look behind him.

“When’d you first notice?” Albert asks, dropping his voice lower and motioning for Race to follow him as he moves down the aisle, still trying to look nonchalant as he grabs a random box of Fruity Pebbles. The gun that’s tucked into the waistband of his jeans becomes a noticeable weight against his lower back. It’s a comforting weight, if not a little disconcerting. But that’s basically in their job description.

“On the way here,” Race says, following Albert’s lead and plucking a box of shitty granola bars off a shelf behind them. As long as they look busy, they look normal, “Noticed him walking behind us around the time we passed Suffolk. Was wary, but didn’t think too much of it until I saw him lurking by the bananas while I was getting some apples.”

“Didya get a look at him? Any discernible features?”

Race shrugs, eyes darting over Albert’s shoulder, then to the side, “Not really. Short, I’d stick him around 5’4”? Dark hair and eyes. He’s wearing jeans and a leather jacket, kept his hood up.”

Albert hums, “And you last saw him by produce?”

“Yeah.”

“Okay,” Albert says, “Come on.”

They forgo the rest of their shopping list and hurry to check out, trying to maintain a sort of ostensibly relaxed appearance. Just as they’re leaving the market, turning the opposite way from which they came, Albert’s neck prickles harder. His stomach swoops a little and he hesitates, waiting for the right moment to turn around and grab the collar of the offending party, pulling him into a nearby alley and pushing him against the bricks.

He hears Race curse, but doesn’t look at his field partner as the guy against the wall’s hood falls away. For a moment, Albert’s stunned, instinct falling short as his gaze sweeps over the guys face.

And as shocking as it is, it’s comforting in a way. Because even after eleven years, Albert would know those brown eyes and sharp features anywhere.

His grip on the guy’s collar slackens and he feels his shoulders slump a little, “Spot?”

Spot grins, “Heya, Al.”

“Wait, so you know our stalker?”

It’s probably the millionth time Race has asked that since they’d dragged Spot back to their apartment on 14th street, taking a few cautionary side roads just in case. Now, they’re gathered in the kitchen, each of them settled in with a beer even though it’s arguably too early to drink.

Whatever, Albert thinks, It’s five o’clock somewhere, right?

Besides, what else are you supposed to do when the guy you’d been best friends with until he allegedly fell off the face of the earth, shows up in your life again by stalking you while you’re grocery shopping.

Yeah, Albert deserves a drink. And he’s technically not on the job right now-- ok, he and Race are always ‘on the job’, but he’ll digress.

“Yup,” Spot answers for Albert, taking a swig of his beer, “best buds since Lindsay Hartman splashed punch on him during ninth grade homecoming, then pushed him into the refreshments table where I was getting a sandwich.”

Race shoots Albert a bewildered look and Albert shrugs, “I was kind of a dick back then and I was going through a gay panic, so I brought her to the dance and then accidentally blurted out that I thought her brother was hotter than her during the slow song and...well, ninth grade wasn’t the best year for me.”

“Clearly,” Race sounds amused, but he’s obviously still too shook up by Spot’s existence to jab Albert too hard.

Albert can’t blame him, either. It’s inherently bizarre to have your current and past best friends standing in the same room after thinking you’d never see one of them again.

“Albert never mentioned you,” Race says, looking at Spot. He’s got his ‘agent face’ on- studiously taking in all of Spot’s mannerisms, while not wavering his gaze from his eyes.

“Wouldn’t expect him to,” Spot says, unbothered, “We lost touch after high school.”

“More like you disappeared unexpectedly and never answered my phone calls or texts and I thought you died, but I couldn’t find anything on you since you were off the fucking grid.” And yeah, maybe Albert’s a little bitter, because he and Spot had been closer than close, but during their second year of college, Spot transferred to some school somewhere in Europe and never spoke to him again.

Spot looks a little guilty now, but he still manages to be the dick Albert always knew him to be and says, “Tomato, tomahto.”

Albert rolls his eyes, “What even happened to you, man?”

“That’s actually what I’m here about,” Spot says. A shadow passes over his face and he suddenly looks sharper- rougher, “I- uh, there’s, uh, some...trouble regarding...things...”

Race and Albert exchange a look and Albert can see the words, well, that’s vague, bouncing around in Race’s head.

“What kind of trouble?” Race asks.

“So,” Spot starts, then stops, shaking his head, “This is a bit of a crazy story, but anyway. I moved right? Overseas? And I ended up, um, getting into a bit of a...situation.”

Wary now, Albert places down his beer and crosses his arms, “What kind of situation?”

“I kind of got recruited by the FSB?”

The shocked silence is almost palpable.

Race recovers first, “The Russian intelligence agency?”

A pause, “Yeah, that’s the one.”

Albert can’t handle this. This is too much. Too weird.

He scrubs a hand over his face, “You do know what I, what we-” he gestures between himself and Race, “-do, right?”

He knows Spot knows. He needs to ask, anyway.

“Yeah.”

“So, you’re telling a couple of FBI guys that you’re part of the FSB?” It sounds weird to Albert’s own ears. He laughs a little, because really, he has to.

“Well...yes.”

“This is fucking weird,” Race states, pointing out the obvious, “Anyway, is there more to your so-called ‘trouble’? Or are you just now realizing the moral wrongness of being an American in the Russian spy network and want some sort of atonement?”

Spot seems to have an internal battle with himself before he mutters something that sounds like ‘fuck it’, “Albert, you’re my next mission. I’m supposed to kill you.”

“Oh,” Albert says, frowning down at his crossed arms. Then, Spot’s words process, “Wait, what!?”

Parity multi-sig frozen

Parity postmortem. Parity will look to unfreeze the multi-sig funds through the EIP process. Frustratingly, Ricardo Guilherme Schmidt had flagged the init issue on August 3rd, so the init fix "was to be deployed in a regular update at a future point in time."

The web3 Foundation reiterated that it has 45m and will deliver Polkadot, but without an unfreeze would have to curtail planned spending on Whisper, Swarm, tooling, etc

Journal Update

So I’ve had more days that I’ve forgotten to journal and I still haven’t set an alarm up yet to remind me to post my journal entries every week or so. Well...here we go.

January 20th- Dyed my hair some shade of red today. I like how it looks. My school bag is packed and I’m ready for school tomorrow.

January 21st- First day of classes!! Bit anxious about my CS 2 class but that’s about it. Got to write my name on an assignment for the first time instead of using my deadname. It felt amazing.

January 22nd- Did the first bit of my reading for my Death and Dying Philosophy class. Had Shrimp and Lobster ravioli!! Did some research on what I want to do after graduation. I think I have a couple of ideas. Maybe something in computer science or cybersecurity.

January 23rd- Boring day but good. Spend the day on various school assignments and reddit. Got picked up late so my mom bought us Cane’s rather than cook dinner.

January 24th- Sore today. Didn’t do much, made today a lazy day. Had some leftover Cane’s.

January 25th- Went to my favorite Pokemon Go park for PoGo today and I caught a legendary with the help of some people at the park!! Had Cafe Zupas for lunch in trade for me helping my mom with some school related stuff. Ended the time out with some grocery shopping.

January 26th- Didn’t do much today. I don’t know if I want to journal on these lazy days but I do kind of want to journal something every day.

January 27th- Had an interview today for a volunteer position that I really want. According to the person I talked to the rest of the information will be emailed to me later that week (spoiler alert, it came later than a week but it came). Had a minor little freakout today when trying to work on my CS 2 assignment. Not a great sign. Paid rent, filled the water gallons, and cleaned the floors. Very productive today!!

January 28th- Had traffic on the way to school and that’s always a bad way to start the day. Spend way too long trying to work on my CS 2 assignment including going to the lab hours and not getting any help because other people needed help and then I just couldn’t find the TA/GA. Seriously debating dropping or auditing this class. On the way home, when I already have a headache, my legs hurt, my neck hurts, and I’m tired, some bitch slammed into the back of my mom’s car while we were at a stop light. My mom pulled into a parking lot and the bitch drove away. We’re okay. The bumper is falling off a little bit so that’s going to be an issue and I’m full of anger but we’re good.

January 29th- Finished the code for my class. Not a great assignment, couldn’t get it to do exactly what I wanted, but I turned something i. Need to be able to drop or audit this class but I’m worried about the impact that can have on my GPA.

January 30th- Back in some pain, possibly from the accident combined with being hunched working on my code.Talked to my mom about getting out of this CS 2 class and she seems fine with it as long as financial aid isn’t impacted.

January 31st through February 3rd- No journal. Must have forgotten.

February 4th- Had a fitness test in my basketball class and an exam in my computer class (for reference I have a computer class, basketball class, CS 2 class, IS class, and death class). Fitness test went better than expected, ran the suicides in 52 seconds. I’m stressing over the exam though. Haven’t dropped or audited my CS 2 class yet. I need to: I got a 22.75 out of 25 on the first assignment. Got confirmation that I got the volunteer position though!!

February 5th- Today is a very, very bad mental health day. Spent quite a bit of today crying, I just couldn’t seem to control it. I couldn’t figure out the code for my CS 2 class and I was stressing over it to the point where I was seriously considering whether plunging a knife into my neck would have been a bad idea. Spent some time lying in bed with a youtube video going trying to even out my emotions. Eventually managed to calm down and I spent the next few hours working on the code. Spend the rest of the day with a headache though.

February 6th- Last class of the day was cancelleed so my mom picked me up early. She had the idea of going to happy hour at Bahama Breeze and I wasn’t going to say no. Got to try two new drinks while out. Think I’m coming down with a cold or something.

February 7th- Definitely have a cold. Spent the day with a runny/stuffy nose and a scratchy throat. Couldn’t bring myself to do school work so I played Mass Effect instead.

February 8th- Went on a hike with some people I don’t know, it was being guided my a Park Ranger my mom knows (it was his last hike and technically he’s not a ranger anymore but whatever). The hike was nice and my mom and I talked about wanting to go on hikes more often, can’t wait for that to happen. Did some grocery shopping- a lot of walking, by the end of the day my legs hurt. Got a 78 out of 100 on my second CS 2 assignment. I need out now.

February 9th- Got told by someone in the Financial Aid office that I was clear to drop or audit the course!! Audited the class so that I can still learn what she’s teaching without having to worry about it impacting my grade.

February 10th- Worked on some school work. Not much else was done today. Got an email from about the volunteer position saying that I’ll be added to the shared drive soon. Very excited to start!!!

In her mind, there was never any doubting the talent or that wider appreciation would eventually come. "It was always going to happen one day," she says. "I'm so smooth that it has."

Goodness, no-self-praise and self-acceptance really aren't the thing. Far from it. No, she's thinking about Jodie Comer, the occasionally shy girl from the form at St Julie's school in Liverpool who recently developed a flair for playing a psychopathic Russian assassin in Killing Eve.

They remain very close, or as close as you can be when living in different countries, but back in the day they were inseparable – the aspiring athlete and aspiring actress who once got a grade in the written element of a drama exam.

'Oh my god, she got like a BAFTA the other week, "Johnson-Thompson says. "It's amazing. She's just brilliant. We were in the same form from Year 7 onwards and we're still on the group chat on our phones (the group is called Coverage in Different Area Codes, as it happens) and we catch up when we can.

'She was always talented, doing her accents or whatever. People probably saw the speech when she got the BAFTA and heard her Scouse accent and didn't know what to think.

'She has been doing so well and I am just happy everyone gets to see it. She totally deserves it. "

It's not a natural jumping-off point for a discussion with an international athlete prior to the biggest year of her career, but then again, maybe it is. The thorny business of recognition, or getting credit and feeling worthy of it – they are the topics that make Johnson-Thompson one of the more fascinating and complex characters in British sport today.

She is quite the paradox: an athlete who will go to the World Championships this September and then the Tokyo Olympics n ext July as arguably the top ranked member of the team and yet one who seems to live forever with doubts rooted in her past.

Perhaps they serve as a motivational device but there is no denying that a chunk of the anxiety is deep and genuine, given this is the same athlete who told reporters last month that she had been reading up on Impostor Syndrome, doubting your own accomplishments and fearing being exposed as a fraud.

Two days after making those comments she obliterated a world-class heptathlon field in Austria with a personal best, to go with world indoor gold, Commonwealth Games gold, European outdoor silver and European indoor gold, all since February 2018.

Having left Liverpool in December 2016 for a existence of training, eating and sleeping in a bare-walled apartment in Montpellier, it would seem the younger, frailer, inconsistent Johnson-Thompson has been rebooted as a seriously formidable competitor. Even the throws are getting better.

And that's why the persistence of those doubts is a little puzzling to all bar themselves. "I don't know why people would find that odd when you have seen my history," she says. There is a laugh with the comment but she means it.

'Obviously I am happy with where I am. Gotzis was good – I responded to challenges when I needed to. The last year or so just been what I wanted – I won some medals, I am competing, I am staying mostly injury-free.

'The work I have done in France is paying off, I can see the sacrifice is worth it. But honestly, it's just part of me I can never take anything for granted any more. In the past when I have had confidence fueled by other people, and then it hasn't gone the way I wanted, it affected me. I am in a much better place now but I cannot get ahead of myself. "

It is useful for this stage to remember the Johnson-Thompson that appeared in public consciousness at London 2012, a waving, smiling teenager who by then had won age-grade world titles in heptathlon and long jump.

The tag of being the next Jessica Ennis was inevitable and it is clear now how the expectations, in combination with a brutal run of injuries and disappointing results, did such damage to her confidence.

"Back in 2012, I was just loving it," she says. 'Anyone who saw me, I was loving life, so happy to be there and competing. And then maybe the pressure of being good, I think, the pressure of progressing at the rate everyone wanted me to, it got hard.

'I was 19 at the Olympics and the next year at the worlds I was fifth. Suddenly at 21 everyone was expecting me to win medals but that expectation and the injuries affected me.

'For me, the hardest bit was from 2015 and through 2016. The injuries just came and came. I would get a quad pull, a foot crack, knee problems that needed surgery. An adductor as well – I did throw the javelin in Talence. You add the injuries up and that's when you have problems with confidence. It takes time to overcome that. '

Evidently she still hasn't. Not fully, anyway. It's not just about the injuries, or course. It has been a fact of her career that underperformed in those two seasons, with three fouls in the long jump to drop her from second to 28th in the 2015 World Championships, and also her fade to sixth at the Rio Olympics, where she secretly

By her own admission, the temperament before and during those Olympics was sturdy enough in the moments of greatest stress and it is natural to wonder how she will hold up once the bigger prizes become available this autumn and next summer. That is where she is still untested.

But for all she says about still doubting herself, the signs have never been so good. The medals are a sign of that, even if you sense she might have benefited from keeping them around.

"My mum takes them away and she has a medal cabinet in the kitchen," she says. "Mum has a full cabinet with everything in it, from under 13s medals through national champs and now it is starting to add some bigger titles."

The mystery is how she will cope with getting more when the giant shadow of Belgium's Nafi Thiam is reintroduced to the stage. The Olympic champion is perhaps the sport's finest athlete across either sex but if anyone can challenge Thiam, who has had injury problems this year, then it is the Liverpudlian who had rattled at the European Championships last year. It is likely their first showdown in a year will be at the Worlds in Doha.

That will be a major barometer before the big one next year, when the verdict on an opinion-splitting athlete will be decided.

"It's all about Tokyo," she says. 'It has always been since I moved to France. I got used to getting better. I changed everything, learned new techniques, took a step backwards ahead of the London World Championships (where she finished fifth) so hopefully I could take steps forward when it really counts. It was always about Tokyo.

'I miss home all the time, my family, I miss speaking English. But I have done it for a reason. I train six days a week, sometimes twice a day, and it's just my life now, nothing else to do but get up, train, recover, eat properly.

'It's just what I need to be doing if I am achieving my goals. There is a lot I need to improve, regardless of what nice things people say, and that's why I am there – everything is just about getting better. "

Recognition has been slow in coming from some fronts. It could speed up drastically in the coming year.

1. How do I get my admit card?

Admit cards in respect of all eligible candidates admitted to the Foundation, Intermediate (IPC), Intermediate, Final and Final-New examination, with their photographs and signatures on them, will be hosted on www.icaiexam.icai.org

2. Will the admit cards contain my photograph and signature?

Yes, if the application you have submitted contains them.

3. I had not affixed my photograph in the exam form. Can I send them now?

Yes. However, once the admit cards are hosted, no changes will be made thereon. The photographs will be used at the time of preparation of pass certificates. We advise you to carry with you a photo identity card issued by Govt. agencies or by ICAI at the time of registration as articled assistants, to the examination hall, along with the admit card downloaded/printed from the website. Also please refer to the reply to question no. 5 given herein below.

4. How do I print my admit card from the website?

Visit the site http://www.icaiexam.icai.org

Click on link in front of AdmitCard

Your admit card and the “Instructions to Examinees” will appear on the screen. You can then print the same in A 4 size paper.

5. My photograph and/or signature are not there in the admit card. Is it valid?

Yes. It is valid. In case the admit card does not bear the photograph and signature of the candidate, he/she is advised to paste the photograph and affix signatures in the area marked on the printout of the admit card and get this page attested by a member of the Institute (member may indicate his/her Name, membership number, and office stamp while signing/attesting at the bottom of that page) and carry the same to the examination centre, in duplicate, as proof of his/her identity.

He/she will be required to hand over the original attested admit card to the examination centre, while retaining one copy of the same, for his/her own record. He/She is also advised to carry one* stamp size photograph (matching with the photograph affixed on theattested letter referred above) to the exam centre for affixing the same at the appropriate place in the attendance register.

(*NOTE : Please carry two stamp size photograph if you are a unit/both groups candidate.)

6. I have downloaded my admit card from the website. However, details therein do not relate to me. What should I do?

Contact the Helpline numbers ( mentioned below) immediately, quoting your registration number, bar code number of your examination form and receipt number issued by the regional office(s), if any, centre opted (with zone, if applicable), telephone number, fax number etc.

7. I have downloaded my admit card from the website. However, details therein are different from what I had filled in my exam application form. What should I do now?

Send an email or contact the Helpline numbers ( mentioned below) immediately, quoting your registration number, bar code number of your examination form and receipt number issued by the regional office(s), centre opted (with zone, if applicable), telephone number, fax number etc.

8. I have not yet received the physical admit card sent by post by ICAI. What should I do?

The practice of sending physical admit cards by post is discontinued with effect from May 2017 examination onwards.

You are required to print your admit card from the website http://icaiexam.icai.org and carry the same to the examination hall.

9. I am not able to print my admit card from the site. What should I do?

Contact the Helpline numbers (mentioned below) immediately, quoting your registration number, bar code number of your examination form and receipt number issued by the regional office(s), centre opted (with zone, if applicable), telephone number, fax number etc.

10. I have a valid exemption in a paper. However, the admit card does not show that exemption. Will I get the exemption?

Exemptions granted to you are not shown on the admit card. Please go through the relevant statement of marks of the exam, where in your opinion, you were granted an exemption in a paper(s).

Alphabet “E” printed against the marks of a paper denotes that marks of that paper have been brought forward from an exemption granted in that paper in an earlier attempt.

So also, “#” symbol printed against the marks of a paper denotes that you have been granted an exemption in that paper, which will be valid for the next three following exams. Also the result below that Group shows “F-EX”

If no such symbol or alphabet is printed against the marks of any paper, even though the marks obtained in that paper may be more than 60, then that indicates that no exemption has been granted in that paper.

You can log in with your single sign on credentials at http://icaiexam.icai.org after 15th April for May cycle exams & 15th October for November Cycle exams to check your exemptions.

Candidates are advised to go through the rules relating to “Exemption in a paper(s)” contained in the Guidance Notes hosted along with the Examination form, CA Regulations 1988 and the announcement dated 09-01-2018 hosted on the institute’s website www.icai.org and be clear about their exemption entitlements and not miss out on appearing in those paper/s where they are not eligible for exemption. My research today was a little more focused on one of my never chapters where I look at the effect creativity can have, and how having creative subjects in school can help children express themselves and any other ways it can help. I am also looking to the stereotyping with colour and whether having these stereotypes it is effect peoples creativity or forcing people into a box. With the online videos I was able to find to advert videos made for mental health awareness, one was made by the mental health awareness charity and the other by lloyds bank.

wow I’m burning through my time limit of 2 hours of social media pretty fast. I’m not gonna have anything to do tonight lmfao.

This morning when I got on campus, I noticed the trike wasn’t parked in the usual spot, but I figured that was due to the fact that a green kawasaki was already parked in it, but when I parked I looked to the other motorcycle bay, and it was empty. So now I know: the trike isn’t on campus before 8:30. Waking up at 6 isn’t so bad, as I said. Plus, this morning I had so much time to study, which is good because last night I totally didn’t finish economics. I made my tiny notecard, and surprisingly didn’t even come close to filling it with text because this unit actually had very little content that was complex enough to need notes. Government got out about 15 minutes early. Our prompt for today was “what do you think the next (28th) amendment to the constitution should be?” Some girl said “popular vote on if we go to war, and everyone that says yes must enlist” like yea I saw that tumblr post too. Everyone in the class thought she was so unique and thought provoking (btw I think that idea is trash (for its own value, not just because it came from tumblr)). I said repeal the electoral college and make the president just a popular vote, since it has the highest turnout and the most demographically represented, it represents the country better. While in class though, I thought of an alternative: decriminalization of all drugs, like portugual did. that way drug users will be more inclined to get help, since they won’t be scared of prison. The only people who would still get prosecuted would be drug dealers.

After that, I took my economics exam in the testing room. I had to put my stuff in a locker, but the lockers were 50 cents to use. And it’s not like the lockers in korea where you put in a 100 won coin and when you leave you get your coin back, you legit just pay here. I didn’t even have coins on me, but it looked like a lot of students were just putting their stuff in lockers, not locking it, and it was an honor code kind of thing where we all agreed that we were broke college students and it’s not nice to steal. So I chose the locker in the very back corner, dumped everything in, and took my test. I was sad bc after, they took my tiny notecard :c I really wanted to keep it to study. I was done with the test in 20 minutes, when the time limit was 80. I think I did pretty well. Then I headed to the library, took my sociology test online here, got a 100 (it told me my score immediately after). and i’ve been sitting here since. I wrote down all of my homework in order of when it’s due, and my work schedule (ugh!!!! so many hhn shifts at usf!!!! UGH!!!!!!!), and decided that for the rest of today, plus all of tomorrow, plus (seemingly) all of saturday (remember how I said the usf manager kept trying to push me to take shifts and was emphasizing “friday and saturday youre free!!!” and i kept saying “four exams!!!” and they were like “oh at least take saturday for now and call me to let me know if you’re free friday too!” and i was like “totally!!” but never called bc FUCK THAT well anyways she never put in the saturday shift and I figure what she’s doing is waiting for me to call and be like “wheres the saturday shift” and then she gonna hit me with that “what about friday” and i’m not fucking with that I guess I’ll just not work saturday either lmao) I’m going to try to do all of my homework for the next week since next week I’m gonna be so bogged down with work.

So the first homework was two things for comp. One was where we briefly summarize who we’re going to interview for the writer profile, and then list our interview questions. That seemed a little thought intensive, especially since I just finished two exams. So I checked the second one, which was a discussion board (we have one every week), and the topic this week was “tell us about your writer’s discourses, and give a sample of their writing and analyze it through a rhetorical lens.” there’s really no way around this topic huh. I dunno, I just feel like it’d be a little weird to be like “hey spencer! I haven’t spoken to you, like, ever (not counting the times I’d say hi when you hung out with my sister over a decade ago), but can I interview you for my english class?”

For now, I figured I’d work on my interview questions. I left my stuff at my seat, went back to the bottom floor to buy a cup of tea, and now I’m back, listening to his albums. I bought his first one, which was posted last year in may, which was pre-t and his voice was still high and feminine. But now I’m listening to his second album of short (about 1 minute each) songs, and I have a lump in my throat. This album came out about 2 months after he started t, and you can tell in some of his songs. Like, his voice takes a nosedive. Not like super deep r&b singer deep, but it’s definitely “late teenage boy” deep. And it’s just not fair. It’s not fair how he, despite not having his parents support, gets to transition and live his best life as a guy. And he can pass. But since I’m five feet tall I have to stay a girl. Can someone explain the difference between Health Insurance and any other Insurance?

I don't understand why people act like health insurance is so radically differently than other insurance. Is it? Insurance is a form of risk management to hedge against loss. Auto, Life, Homeowners, Unemployment and Health are among the types of insurance you can buy. I'm generally not required to buy any of those insurances. If I have the title to my home, I'm not required to have homeowners insurance. If I don't drive a car, I'm not required to carry auto insurance. Why should I be forced to buy health insurance? If I want to take that or any gamble by not buying insurance, isn't that my choice? I will admit that by not purchasing health insurance, I could be putting a burden on others if I was admitted to the ER and couldn't pay, that burden of payment would fall on others. HOWEVER, that burden would be there whether I was forced to carry insurance or not. If I don't make enough money to buy this mandatory insurance, then the gov't will give me tax credits to purchase insurance. Who's paying for those tax credits? All of the tax payers. So either we pay the providers/insurance companies via higher premiums to cover loss, or we pay the gov't via taxes. Forcing (perhaps unconstitutionally) citizens to purchase health insurance won't solve anything, it will just move where the cost is incurred. But please, explain why people are treating health insurance so differently.""

If you have fully comprehensive insurance can you make a claim even though you have not been in a crash or other accident?
