Nico and Hazel made cat themed communication cards for them as a gift so he uses them when they're nonverbal.They have matching Aquapets too

Piper- true crime documentaries, but specifically the ones that hyper analyze peoples movements and facial expressions.

30 Day Narnia Challenge #2

Day 2: Favorite movie?

The 2005 The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe adaptation has been one of my all time favorite movies ever, and when it comes to Narnia movies, it's almost a tie with Prince Caspian (which was my choice when I did this challenge back in 2016) and obivously they're both very well done. Most importantly, I appreciate how the filmmakers started the process of making both of them in spirit of trying to make a good film with a good story that's faithful to Lewis and in that aspect they succeeded (more or less - I'm looking at you, PC the movie!). In adition to that, they both have stunning videography, locations, costumes, props, the casting are all on point and the music really ties together films that will stand the test of time.

But since I wrote what makes it my favourite in my previous visit to this challenge, I would like to draw your attention to some other adaptations that may deserve your attention if you're a hardcore Narnia fan.

The Foucus on the Famliy Radio Theater did a marvellous audio adaptation of all the books, complete with good voice acting (multiple actors read multiple roles) and immersive background sound effects and music. If you're not into just a read-aloud audiobook, give this a chance!

The BBC miniseries adapted one mini-series LWW, did a single season PC with VDT where PC gets like 2 episodes and VDT is the rest and a miniseries adaptation of SC - the only screen adaptation of SC. Due to a much smaller budget than the Walden/Disney films, this one features a lot of very obvious puppetry, some way over the top costumes for Talking animals and some very awkward greenscreen. If you're there for the story, it might be fun for you, but if you're one of those people that cannot stand anything that isn't thouroughly done over by some sort of CGI, you'll be put off. The casting is a bit of a hit and miss, they could have done a better job with Lucy, Eustace was a good choice, he's delightfully annoying (in VDT that's a good thing!) and IMO Drinian was a total miss. Jill was a very good choice. Tom Baker as Puddleglum was decent enough. They casted Barbara Kellerman to play both the White Witch and Lady of the Green Kirtle, which can be confusing if you've never read the books (okay, it's kinda confusing even if you did) and she was a fairly decent choice though she can be very intense. My favourite performances come from Warwick Davies as Reepicheep and Samuel West as King Caspian in VDT (I might like them better than Ben Barnes and the Walden version of Reepicheep). Again, if you wanna try something that's not Walden and don't mind taxidermy Aslan and giant bowling pin beavers, I'd say go for it. It's fully freely available on YT.

Speaking of low-budget, there's a 1979 2D animated feature length LWW adaptation that was featured on CBS. For some reason it features the coolest way Aslan does away with the White Witch and Edmund with glasses which, as a gal with glasses, I thought was neat. Again, worthy of checking out if you're really into Narnia and don't mind shabby animation. This too is freely available to watch on YT. Some screencaps are so memeworthy though. As a fun fact, soon after, the same studio went into pre-production for an adaptation of The Magician's Nephew. They went as far as had the first two or three chapters planned in storyboards, however the production was scrapped due to unknown reasons. There's a YT video the girls at TheLionsCall made when one of them purchased said Magician's Nephew storyboards here

I've only ever seen the promo videos and shots for the Logos Theater productions, but have never seen the shows because I don't live in the USA, but I would very much like to.

Disney Sequel Movies Final Results

Congratulations to "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" for being our ultimate tournament winner!

We would also like to congratulate "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride" for winning the Animated Sequel Tournament!

Both of these movies are fantastic in their own right but also masterfully continue their original story into the next phase of their worlds. Well chosen, voters.

Below are our final thoughts from this tournament:

First things first: we absolutely thought Cinderella 3 was going to win it all. It would be interesting to see how Cinderella 3 would do up against Dead Man's Chest. Would it be closer? or would Cinderella get crushed worse?

Speaking of Cinderella 3, the Animated finals was so close! The first half of the week C3 managed a small but consistent lead over LK2. Then LK2 fans were mobilized and suddenly LK2 was miles ahead! the last two-three days C3 fans managed close the gap. It was like there was a steady ratio of votes that had been disrupted by the mid-week spike. We firmly believe that had the poll been open for another day (even half-day) C3 would have taken the title back. Alas, LK2 won fair and deservedly by 17 votes.

On the other side, Thor: Ragnarok got further than we though considering the number of people who disliked it in the first round. We were pretty sure it would be taken out by Spiderman: No Way Home. But winning there pretty much guarenteed it would beat the DCOM film.

Speaking of DCOM, we had no idea High School Musical 2 was so popular! It's our favorite of the HSM group, but we were thinking the more recent Descendants would be more of a challenge.

Another close race was Pirates v Princess. There PotC won by just 18 votes. We had expected it to be a close one. This was also the poll we anticipated it most likely for people to bring the actors into the debate to persuade. As great as it would have been to see praise of Julie Andrews or Keira Knightly or Orlando Bloom or Chris Pine we want to thank everyone for not using us as a place to debate the personal actors involved in the films.

Going off on actors a moment, how many of you all know that George of the Jungle was recast for the sequel?

We would also like to highlight that the top four submissions we received were Cinderella 3 (top), The Lion King 2 (second), The Little Mermaid 2/The Lion King 1 1/2 (tied third).

(We had structured the bracket so those four would have the best chance to face off. But Kronk happened (in the best way))

In fact, Cinderella 3 was the first submitted, had 3 of the first 6 submissions, and was almost able to book end by almost being the last submission too. (C3 also had enough submitted propaganda that rounds 1 and 2 are different where everyone else is working with the same)

The most submitted Live Action sequel was The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

As for a lesson learned: We know the way a ballot/poll/tournament is structured will inherently impact the results. We don't think we will set up the first round like this one's again when there's less than 64.

I’ve had a YouTube channel for nearly two decades. The first video I ever posted was in 2006. It was a Power Rangers fanvid and while it’s not the worst video ever created, it’s definitely not the best. It was a weird choice of song (Spirit of Man from War of the Worlds) and some of the clips are badly trimmed so there’s a frame or two of the next scene/shot at the start or end in a few places.

Since then, I’ve made a bunch of other videos, music videos for shows or fake trailers for some of my fanfics (many of those fics were posted on sites that no longer exist). I don’t post often these days, but every once in a while I’ll get struck with the urge to make a fanvid for a film or TV show that I like. Recently, it’s been The Sandman and the Dreamling ship in particular.

In all this time, my YouTube channel has never been monetised. When I first started the channel, that wasn’t even an option, as YouTube monetisation wasn’t a thing on the platform until December 2007, the year after I posted my first video, and even then, I don’t think it was available for anyone to apply to once they hit certain thresholds the way it is today.

So yeah, when I started, it wouldn’t have occurred to me to monetise my channel. Then I had a real world job and my video creation dropped off and in recent years, I haven’t met the monetisation thresholds, so it hasn’t been an option and I haven’t given it much thought. After all, I didn’t start making silly little fanvids expecting to make money from them, and most of them would be demonetised anyway because of the use of copyrighted material.

But recently I checked my analytics out of curiosity and I’m within reach of those monetisation thresholds. I got a load more views than usual around October and November last year for no reason I can see. There’s an obvious bump in the watch time analytics for a couple of months before it drops down to my usual trickle of views. I’ve no idea why it happened or why it stopped, but it was enough of a bump that I’m now at 3997 hours of watch time for the past year, with the monetisation threshold being 4000 hours.

Given how close I am, it feels like I should try to push to meet the eligibility criteria and apply for the YouTube partner programme, just so that it’s an option for me if I want it. And I clearly need to do it in the next few months, because I don’t expect to replicate that spike in views from October. But over the next month or two, getting 3 more hours of watch time than I got in the same time period last year feels like a realistic thing to achieve, even if almost all of my videos are under 5 minutes long.

Especially if I actually tell people that I have YouTube videos. So here I am, telling people. If you enjoy fan made music videos, please consider giving some of mine a watch.

My channel has absolutely no consistency in terms of what I post. I will make videos for whatever happens to grab my attention at the time, so across the lifespan of my channel I have fanvids for Yuri on Ice, the MCU, Teen Wolf, Charmed, Voltron, The Chronicles of Narnia (both the old BBC TV show and the films), Doctor Who (and spin offs), X-Men, Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, The Sentinel, The Tribe, and more Power Rangers than feels comfortable now given my age. I'm a Tyler Galpin apologist but NOT an Xavier Thorpe hater. I also love the Star Wars original trilogy and the prequel trilogy, but not really the sequels. I don't hate the third HTTYD movie and I love all the HTTYD series. My favorite Spider-Man movies are the TASM ones, and Andrew Garfield is my fav Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Yes I love both Narnia and His Dark Materials.

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction? 

I'm not really sure. My sister and i started inventing stories about Star Wars not long after we first watched the original trilogy, but those were never written down (i'm not sure we could survive the embarrassment if they had been!).

Funnily enough, now that i think about it, it was Star Wars that i think prompted my entry into "fandom" proper, specifically the Knights of the Old Republic video games. I'd been a fan of things before that, and interacted with other fans, but mostly incidentally, discussing them on forums where people met for other reasons. But KotOR was when i really started writing and reading fanfic.

There's a conversation you can have with Atton Rand in the second KotOR game where he complains about Jedi platitudes, and you can respond jokingly with more platitudes.

Post-game, Meaghan will pull out more "platitudes" on occasion, both ones she's invented and pre-existing ones that she's misusing for the situation. Usually it's when she's trying to get Atton to do something he doesn't want to do -- he's never figured out a way to respond that doesn't give her more openings for further platitudes, so he can never win.

🪐 ⇢ name three good things going on in your life right now

Summertime. I love summer, and i love how frequently it's been raining around here.

My job. Don't get me wrong, i'd still rather stay home any day of the week, but i remember how felt last year, sick of my current job and eager to find another one, but worried about how long it would take, and that whatever i found might end up being worse. If i have to leave the house to get paid to do things i don't particularly want to do, i'd pick getting paid by this company to do these things over any of my previous jobs.

I've been getting a lot of writing done lately. Most of it not on the story that i need to finish by next month, or in any story that is likely to be finished any time soon, but, y'know. Progress is progress.

Obi-Wan sucks. He's a poor master to Anakin, a not-much-better one for Luke, and while he arguably means well, his intentions don't add up for much when he screwed up that badly.

ilisten i have 0 stakes at all in the mario movie but i feel like the “ugh not another isekai” sentiment is getting passed around for no real reason. “isekai” is not a bad thing? it just refers to the trope of someone from the normal world getting sent to somekind of fantasy world (sometimes in reverse too)- here we call those “portal fantasies” and its not a singular genre.

anime fans who are disgruntled by the overinflation of shitty and cheaply written isekai being produced often complain about it but... i feel like people online have seen others complain about the overinflation of lazily written isekai and, without really understanding what the complaints were, somehow got the message that portal fantasies are a Bad Trope which isnt true.

like, you see how incredibly different all these things are? how much variety there is in tone, genre, demographic, themes, story, characters, all that? “isekai” isnt this monolithic thing its really just a trope. it can be used in good ways, it can be used in bad ways, no big. but its kind of sad seeing people take a cinemasins approach to it where they assume that Trope=Bad. its not! its one of the most classic and varied ones...

anyway in terms of the mario movie specifically, like i said idc, and you can for sure critique how the portal fantasy is written in it. it could be bad lol idk, but dont throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Hi! Yesss, definitely still doing them, just always a bit slow with my replies haha.

One that I really enjoy is Cluedo (I think it's Clue in English?) but I also really love Activity, which is probably my favorite overall (we don't always play that though cause some BORING people don't like it, haha). Oh and I love Trivial Pursuit! Other than that I also like card games, my favorite is Codenames.

Currently I'd say I'm only in the YR fandom (and it's also the first time I'm in a fandom again after years of absence!). I used to be into lots of things before, though! I think my first fandom where I kind of contributed something to it was Narnia (I only made one or two video edits and uploaded them to YouTube though). My first real fandom experience that also included talking to people and led to me creating this blog was One Direction (I know.....), then it kind of progressed from there and I got into SuperWhoLock (was only ever a big big fan of Supernatural though), then a brief obsession with Marvel movies, then I got into "Bandom" where I specifically was into Pierce The Veil, My Chemical Romance (duh!) and then later (and this is probably the fandom I was in for the longest time) blink-182. So I have quite the track record, haha.

I LOVE SINGING! Whenever I'm home alone I just put on music and sing along, it's so much fun <3

Fandom: The Chronicles of Narnia Pairing: Caspian/Peter Song: ‘Evacuating London’ by Harry Gregson-Williams

This is my version of a happy ending where Caspian and Peter are reunited in Aslan’s Country  :)   It was initially intended to just be a temporary rough cut before being reduced to fit the end of my Immortals fan video. But I still liked the full version of this edit so after adding some music and dialogue, I decided to upload this as a standalone video.
