Top 7 Sapodilla fruit Nutrition facts and Health benefits ~ https://www.nutrition-and-you.com/sapodilla.html
I was not sure if I had tried this fruit. But when I searched for it I found out that its is called "chico" in the Philippines but I know it as "Sapodilla". Yes I have tried it and enjoyed it. In other parts of the world it is called sapota, chikoo, naseberry, or nispero. It was first cultivated in the Philippines, India, Thailand and Vietnam. It is also a native to Mexico and the Caribbean. Eventually it made its way to the United States. One of my neighbors in Florida had a sapodilla tree.

Chikoo is an act of love.
Chikoo is a fruit that is widely enjoyed across my motherland, Pakistan. While in Urdu and Hindi this fruit is called Chikoo, it goes by Sapodilla in English, and in the West Indies, it is know as Naseberry. Deliciously sweet, warm, earthy flavour and a perfect fruit snack, the chikoo was a staple fruit in our home, whenever it was in season. After my migration to Canada from Pakistan, I recently realized that I haven't had an opportunity to enjoy this fruit that I so regularly consumed as a child. Back home, fruits and vegetables are consumed seasonally, and chikoo often isn't in season when I visit my family. Here in Canada, I didn't always know where to look for it. I recently discovered, that it is available across the GTA at various stores such as, Iqbal Foods in Thorncliffe, and Memon Supermarket in Pickering.
Catching up with my Khala (maternal aunt) in Scarborough over the cordless phone, I looked wistfully out the window and sighed.
"What happened, Beta?"
"Array, nothing Khala! I was just wishing for some chikoos."
Tumblr media
Some weeks passed by and we finally had a chance to reunite at her place this month after a painfully long time apart. As the day's festivities came to an end, and as I was getting ready to leave for home, Khala rushed to her room and returned cradling a soft pouch with hearts on it.
"Open it," she instructed, excitement lighting up her eyes.
I took a seat at the dinner table and turned the pouch inside out, only to find multiple semi-soft, ripe chikoos, just begging to be devoured.
"They were very hard when I bought them. But I really wanted to make sure that you would get a taste of chikoos. I remembered when you said it on the phone the other day. So I hid them away in a pouch and worked on them to ripen them up for you. Well, here they are. Your chikoos. Now, take them home and enjoy them."
When my mother was alive, she would often say "My family cannot give you riches and luxuries, but what they can teach you, is how to give and receive love." This simple, yet profound act of love by my maternal aunt truly echoes Ammi's lasting words.

Hey, I hope you are holding up okay! Iced Lemon Tea, Iced Cafe Mocha, & Herbal Tea for the ask game! :)
thank you ryn, same goes to you !!! :-)
iced lemon tea: it's so hard to pick because it changes frequently, but i would say my current favorite singer is phoebe bridgers. i could listen to her songs for hours & never get bored... i think she's insanely talented !!! specifically her song "killer" has been resonating with me recently, but i don't think i could ever pick a favorite :")
iced cafe mocha: on rainy days i absolutely love to make hot chocolate, bake, & watch movies or tv. it's hard for me to be productive because i've conditioned myself to relax whenever it's raining outside, haha :-) i used to like to write poetry/make collages, but unfortunately i haven't had any inspiration lately
herbal tea: i actually just answered this one, basically vanilla is the one i'd have to choose as it's my favorite !!
