I think the most heartbreaking part of this is because in the first picture, that’s Future Natsu doing the forehead touch with Future Lucy, and he promises her that they’ll be okay.
But in the second picture, that’s Present Natsu doing the forehead touch with Future Lucy. Present Natsu who had no idea that Future Natsu did that with Future Lucy. He did that gesture out of his own love and gratitude to Future Lucy for going back in time to protect their future.
And the reason Future Lucy is crying in the second picture is because she remembers how her Natsu from the Future did the exact same thing. And her Natsu is dead. And this one, still alive, made her remember how her Natsu did this gesture and she lost him after.
In this one shot alone, you can see the love, sadness, gratitude, and fear that Future Lucy and Present Natsu is experience.
And I just love them so much more for it.

Natsu's emotional intelligence is greatly underestimated. He is anything but blissfully unaware; he is highly perceptive of how others feel and reacts accordingly. For instance, when Jellal was about to be arrested by the Magic Council towards the end of the Oracion Seis arc, he could sense Erza's turmoil and understood what the former meant to her which led to him taking a stand for Jellal. He reassured Juvia that they would get Gray back during the Avatar arc. He was mature enough to put up an innocent charade of incompetence to keep Asuka happy. He has lent emotional support to Lucy on several occasions and showcased utmost sensitivity.
That brings us to two questions: Why does he play the clueless fool and what will make him acknowledge his feelings and, eventually, act on them?
First, it is my interpretation that what terrifies Natsu more than anything else in the world is loss. He cannot so much as entertain the possibility of losing the people he loves. Let alone accept its inevitability. It is why he adheres to a maladaptive coping style where he simply avoids difficult situations and feelings. Instead of facing the reality of Igneel's death and allowing himself to be supported by his friends, he chose to isolate himself from everyone with only Happy for company. Natsu would sooner bear the burden of the entire world than share his own with his friends.
When the situation is under control and whatever crisis they're facing is averted, he wilfully regresses to his childish ways, content with the knowledge that he wouldn't have to face his feelings or address them. That everything will be how it always has been.
For Natsu to experience growth, he will have to experience a loss from which he can neither escape nor avoid. It shouldn't be a permanent one but it needs to last a while and end with the realisation that life is too short to not be savoured in its entirety. That he needs to break out of the shell he so stubbornly clings to and let people in.
Then there are his feelings for Lucy, who, I daresay, is in an entirely different category from the rest of his friends.
His words to Lucy at the end of the manga, that they will always be together, are not so much a statement, as they are a promise, both to her and to himself for when he believed that he had lost her forever, the outcome was frightening. Much like his brother Zeref, whose whole tragedy was triggered by his inability to come to terms with losing the one he loved most, Natsu's intense devotion for Lucy can bring out the worst in him.
For NaLu to unite for good, I need them to be apart for a while. When faced with the reality that Lucy might not be by his side forever or vice versa, Natsu will have no choice but to face his demons and get his act together. It will not be an easy process but a little angst has never harmed anyone.

“Lucy fell first, but Nastu fell harder”
How about, Lucy realized her feelings much sooner for him due to being an author; having that romanticism ingrained into her soul. Thus, not only seeing the signs but overthinking them so much she had to implement them in her novel to cope.
Natsu, being emotionally stunted due to his abandonment issues, refused to acknowledge his feelings until it hit him in the face like a train with no clear stops.
This boy had all the signs from the beginning, I would even put my money on him being the one responsible why the love spell didn’t work in Hargeon. (I have theories man. So many theories)
We see him as the one who fell harder because for him, he woke up one day and realized, “holy shit I literally can’t eat, sleep or breathe without wanting Lucy beside me”
Sure we can pinpoint a few key moments to show his romantic interest strengthening.
BUT…. From the beginning he wanted her on his “team” … the boy who was always doing his own thing. The boy who had a guild full of “family” but felt so alone all the time. The boy who lost a dear friend to him in a gruesome accident that caused him to retreat into himself more then he already had. The boy who felt like no one truly believed in him. The boy who only had his cat (who he hatched, so that has a lot of significance) as his team until she showed up.
Natsu chose Lucy.
He fell first and fell harder.
Thank you for keeping up with my ramblings. I could say so much more but my ADHD brain won’t let me keep my thoughts in one place for too long 😭🤧

would love to hear ur headcanons for the canon couples (Nalu, Gruvia, Jerza, Gajevy) as first time parents
Fun fact: I actually wrote a fic about them adopting children (well Jerza, Nalu, and Elfever) if anyone is interested in that :)
Nalu
Lucy is literally stressed out the whole time
Natsu is pretty chill but his protectiveness has tripled
Lucy is the strict parent and Natsu is the fun one, but he will back Lucy up when needed
Unfortunately because of his heightened senses, Natsu really struggles with the baby crying. It's way louder for him and even hurts when he's holding the baby (too close to the ears)
Natsu struggles to sleep too. One because of the baby waking him up, but also because he is super protective and wakes up multiple times a night just to check on the baby (Lucy also doesn't sleep through the night but Natsu more so)
Lucy cheats and summons her spirits to help look after the baby. It really helps the new parents get time to rest (and also her spirits love the little baby so its a win win)
While they take turns working, Lucy usually stays home more. She knows Natsu needs to get out all his energy and she has no problem being a stay at home mom (at least for a little bit)
Gruvia
Juvia is literally always crying. Everything the baby does causes Juvia to burst into tears
Gray is in love. He's literally always cooing over the baby
They fight over who has to be the strict parents because both of them wanna be the fun one. Usually Juvia ends up as the strict one
Gray worries so much about the baby that he spends most nights sleeping in the nursery. Juvia keeps a spare blanket and pillow in there now, just so he can be more comfortable
The entire house is covered in toys (and other baby things). It has completely taken over their lives
Neither of them wanna work because they want to spend as much time with their baby as possible (unfortunately they have to so they take turns and only take simple jobs)
Juvia knits cute little onesies for the baby. She makes little dolls too. The dolls match the onesies. Its adorable
Jerza
Erza is super prepared and can literally handle any baby issue (throw up, diaper, teething, etc). She's got everything
Jellal on the other hand is always panicking. The baby hiccups? He's freaking out about if he has to go to the ER
Erza bought so many clothes for the baby. She treats them like a little doll and is always playing dress up
They are both the strict parents. Not terribly but they raise their child to behave (tho both are known to give in to the puppy dog eyes)
Jellal cries a lot. He cried when he found out Erza was pregnant, cried when the baby was born, cried when they brought the baby home, etc (he never thought he'd have a life like this)
For the first couple months after the baby is born, Jellal tries to do as much as possible because he wants Erza to rest (she did do all the hard work for nine months so it's only fair that he steps up after birth)
Somehow their home is always clean and they both always look well rested (well Jellal has permanent eye bags but that's just his normal sleep depravation). No one knows how they are so put together with a newborn
Gajevy
Gajeel is that dad that is always talking about his baby. He's always showing pictures, will turn any conversation into a baby story, and in general cannot go five minutes without talking about his baby
Levy did so much research before the baby was born. She bought literally anything and everything the books recommended
Unfortunately that means when something happens that wasn't in the book, Levy panics
Gajeel also has issues with his heightened senses. Levy takes pity on him when it comes to diaper changes (Gajeel has thrown up from particularly foul ones)
Gajeel tried to do that thing where you make the baby listen to music in the moms stomach, but it was his singing. Levy would come up with every excuse in the book for this not to happen
He does sing to the baby now, but Levy finds it adorable and likes to listen (his voice is more suited for lullaby's)
Levy reads to the baby every night. Her book picks vary from actual kids books to textbooks but the baby doesn't know the difference anyway

down bad ship: natsu dragneel x lucy heartfilia summary: There's nothing special about the day that Natsu first notices. It's a day like any other he spends with Lucy, but maybe that's the reason why, because he can see himself doing this with her for the rest of their lives, and he doesn't even mind that he's already wading in far too deep in the ocean of love. ao3
happy nalu day!
Tumblr media
There’s nothing really different about the day Natsu first notices. It’s not like the sun shines brighter or the birds sing louder than they do any other day; it really is just one like any other. He rises with the sun like he does every other day and cobbles together some passable breakfast for him and Happy before they take on the day.
It’s a nice day outside—warm and sunny but with enough clouds that Lucy won’t spend the day complaining about her decision to not wear sunscreen that day. It would be the perfect weather for a day job, but it's the last Friday of the month, which means it’s errands day for Lucy. With rent taken care of for the month, she makes sure to take care of any other tasks she needs to deal with by the end of the month, and taking menial tasks around town is the perfect chance for Natsu and Happy to follow her around all day. She complains about it every time they do, but makes no real effort to stop them and even treats them to lunch on occasion. It’s become something of an unspoken routine for them, and there’s nothing really unusual about today. It truly is routine.
She’s just coming out of the building when the duo arrives because they’ve done this so often that their internal clocks seem to have synced. She seems to light up when she meets his eye—or at least he thinks she does. Lucy’s always been the type of person to perk up around her friends, but he selfishly hopes that the little glimmer he sees in her eyes right now is reserved for him.
“Natsu! Happy!” She calls out, raising her hand to wave to them as they walk over.
“Hey, Lucy,” he grins.
She doesn’t usually dress up for the occasion because there is no occasion to dress up for, but she’s always well put together. Her ponytail is slicked up and falls in tresses over her shoulder. Rosy blush accentuates her cheeks, and her lips have a slight gloss to them that makes Natsu lick his own. She looks really pretty today. Granted, she looks pretty every day, but he’s never really given much thought to it until now. Lucy being pretty is just a fact of life that he has come to accept, so he doesn’t pay it much mind, but today she just looks like she bathed in sunshine before she showed up, and he feels inclined to take any chance he has to look at her just a little bit longer. There’s no real tangible difference that he can put his finger on why today is different because she doesn’t look any different from normal, but he feels he just notices it more. He feels like he’s being discreet about it, but it doesn’t slip by Lucy unnoticed.
“What? Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Looking at you like what?”
“I don’t know! Weird! You’re looking at me weird! Do I have something on my face?” She asks, her brows knitted together in concern.
He doesn’t think he’s looking at her weird, or at least he doesn’t mean to.
“You just look nice today,” he tells her.
He can see in her expression that she’s taken aback by his casual candour. He’s not usually so sweet, and he knows she would be the first to notice. The look of surprise on her face quickly turns into one of annoyance.
“Are you making fun of me?” She accuses.
“What? No! Why would I be making fun of you?”
She narrows her eyes at him slightly and doesn’t reply right away, as though she’s weighing up whether she should believe him or not. When it becomes clear that he’s being sincere, she seems to soften a little bit.
“Thank you,” she says, her voice quiet as she bashfully averts her gaze, but he hears her as clear as day.
They don’t have to talk about their plans for the day because they’ve done this a million times before. It’s all boring, menial stuff, but it’s not boring if he’s doing it with Lucy. They make their way around Magnolia, past places he remembers introducing Lucy to for the first time, but are now familiar stops on this route she’s come to know like the back of her hand. She takes them to the bank, the post office, the pharmacy—places he probably never would have gone to before meeting her, but he now holds a fond familiarity for. They exchange pleasantries with the workers they’ve come to recognise, who know their routine just as well as they do. Natsu’s never been one for strict routine, but this is one he doesn’t mind. It feels somewhat… domestic. Domesticity wasn’t something Natsu ever saw for himself until it seemingly fell into his lap, and he finds himself comparing antihistamines with Lucy on a Friday afternoon.
He doesn’t mind it—if anything, he likes it. He looks forward to their errand day and enjoys the time he gets to spend with Lucy. He would never enjoy doing this stuff on his own, but when it’s with Lucy, it doesn’t matter what they’re doing as long as they’re together. He makes it a point to call attention to silly things he finds as they walk the aisles of stores. She smiles, and then she laughs, and Natsu doesn’t think he’s seen anything quite that bright in his life. He would be happy if the rest of his life looked just like this.
Their reward for being Lucy’s pack-mule for the day—the thing that had Natsu and Happy first tagging along all those years ago—is the prospect of lunch in the middle of all this. It’s a quaint little place in the middle of town that they’ve become regulars at. Natsu’s memorised the whole menu at this point, a feat that may come in handy if Lucy ever followed through on her claims that she’d like to try something new the next time they came, but she always ends up with the same order as last time. The waitress flashes them a smile, and they don’t even have to say anything before the barista is already fixing up Lucy’s chai latte. Déjà vu hits him when the same granola bowl that Lucy orders whenever they come is brought out, topped with yogurt, sickly sweet honey, and fresh, juicy berries. He, on the other hand, chooses to switch things up and orders something new this time—it’s the biggest burger they could possibly serve him with so much cheese that it drips down onto his plate when it melts, and a side of fries to boot.
He has better table manners now, at Lucy’s insistence. She’s loosened up since they first met, but she’s still drilled the rules into his head. Sit up straight, no elbows on the table, knife in right hand, fork in left, no licking the knife, and absolutely no burping at the table. He certainly doesn’t follow them all the time, but in Lucy’s presence, it’s a small sacrifice he’s happy to make. It’s a little hard to keep good manners when what he’s eating is as messy as this, but he tries his best, and Lucy sees and appreciates it.
Between bites, he notices her eyeing up his fries. She’s not one for greasy foods like him, but she’s not immune to the delectable aroma of his well-seasoned fries and the various dipping sauces that come with them. Even if she tries to hide it, he notices the temptation in her eyes, and she soon caves.
“Can I try some?” She politely asks.
If it were him, he wouldn’t have asked permission and would have instead gone straight in, but Lucy has always had better manners than him.
“Yeah, sure,” he answers, not giving it much thought.
It’s not until she is already taking from his plate that he considers that Lucy is the only one he would even consider letting do that, and then how easy it is for him to say yes. He shares everything in his life with her, so there’s no reason to stop at food. He’d give her everything and the clothes off his own back for her, so letting her eat off his plate is merely a small blip in the grand scheme of sacrifices he would make for her. He watches her take a bite, and her eyes light up, and she can eat the whole damn plate if it means he gets to watch her smile like that. She offers him some of her food, but he doesn’t take it, instead nudging his own over to her in an unconditional offer. She pretends she’s not interested in it for a brief period, but when she realises he sees right through her, she gives in. He doesn’t even mind that she eats nearly all of them.
Their final stop takes them to pick up groceries for the next week. Natsu’s in charge of pushing the cart—a privilege he’s had to earn back after crashing one into a stack of cans one time, but he has better special awareness now. He still rides it down the empty aisles, but as long as he doesn’t cause any trouble, Lucy pretends not to notice. Happy sits in the cart seat and relishes in all the attention he gets when fellow shoppers coo over just how cute he looks. They look like a happy family, and it almost feels like they are one too.
They’re shopping for Lucy’s groceries, but they’re just as much for Natsu and Happy as they are for her, even if she doesn’t want to admit it out loud. The implication of admission comes when she asks for their opinions—what do they want for dinner next week when they inevitably crash at her place, what brand of pasta sauce do they prefer, what snacks should she stock up her kitchen with for them. She always claims she’s not buying anything more than they need, but Natsu knows how and when to flash her his puppy dog eyes to convince her to buy him a little snack for the way home.
Magnolia is awash in an orange early-evening glow when they finally make it back to Strawberry Street. Lucy walks along the side of the canal, just like she always does, and Natsu is content to watch. The sun highlights her golden hair as it falls across her shoulders, where it frames her face perfectly. His eyes are drawn to her lips, which are quirked up in a small smile as she looks in front of them. As if she notices his gaze, she looks up to meet it, and he gets to see that smile in all its glory. It makes his heart tighten in his chest, and all he can do is smile back.
Carrying her groceries up to her apartment for her is his least favourite part of the day, and it’s not because he doesn’t like being her pack mule. If he minded carrying her stuff around for her, he wouldn’t be doing it all day, but when he lugs them up the stairs, it signals the impending end of their time together, and it never fails to bum him out. He takes the last precious moments they have together, taking his time as he helps her put her groceries away. When they’re finished, she rewards him with a hug, her arms wrapped tightly around his torso and her head resting against his chest. He reciprocates eagerly, his chin resting atop her head. Happy only pretends to retch in disgust a little bit.
“I’ll see you guys tomorrow!” She says, hand resting against the doorframe as she sees them out.
“See you tomorrow, Lucy!” Happy gleefully replies.
Natsu leaves her with one final grin before they descend down the stairs.
“See ya tomorrow!”
When he gets over the initial wave of grief that comes with leaving Lucy, there’s a sense of contentment that overflows him. His heart just feels so… full. Even though he was just with her, there’s this ache he feels in his chest of sheer excitement for the next time he gets to see her. Natsu’s never really been the type who was incredibly in touch with his emotions, but what he’s feeling right now—not even he can deny. He flops down onto his hammock, his gaze up at the ceiling as a smile crosses his face.
“Hey, Happy?” He calls out, attracting the attention of the exceed.
“Yeah?”
There’s a moment of quiet between them—just a beat as he gathers his thoughts and considers the way the words might feel on his lips.
“I think I’m in love with Lucy,” he finally says.
“Yeah, I know,” Happy replies.
His little buddy’s reply causes his lips to quirk up slightly at the corners. He supposes it’s something they’ve both known for a long time now, but it’s just taken him a while to fully put the pieces together. Even though it’s seemingly not a surprise to hear, it feels good to say it out loud.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
He’s giving him a look as though it were obvious, and maybe it is, because Lucy is the easiest person on earth to love, and he doesn’t know how he didn’t realise it earlier. He’s always been a man who’s full of love, but the love he feels for Lucy is different and fulfilling in a way he can barely comprehend. As he lingers on it, he realises he gets to spend every day with her for the rest of their lives, and he feels like the luckiest man alive.
There’s a large, dopey grin on his face as his brain is plagued with all thoughts of Lucy, but it feels so good that he doesn’t even mind when Happy teases him about it the rest of the day.

My head is wrapped on Nalu baby's soo...
Headcanons about the children of the canon couples in Fairy Tail ✨✨
or at least the ones closer to canon, I'm watching your teasing Mashima
Nalu
Get angry with me all you can, but they don't have a lot of children, oddly enough Nasha is one of the few in the guild who were planned.
Natsu is totally a girls daddy, it's the vibe.
They have Nasha after getting married, she is the spitting personality of Natsu, but learned to like books like Lucy.
They had some false alarms and when it really happened the pregnancy was hard for Lucy and the baby.
They got scared to try again, and Lucy was brokenhearted because she knew Natsu would want more despite him constantly saying that Nasha would be more than enough.
After at least two years they end up adopting a baby boy they rescued on a mission.
The boy is almost as chaotic as Nasha, but is more calculating than his impulsive sister.
The two fight a lot, Lucy is the rigid parent who makes them stop, Natsu is the one wrapped around their fingers, and gets scolded together.
Despite fighting, the kids are very close, play together all the time and protect each other a lot.
When the kids are sad and wanna talk about it they go to Lucy, when they just wanna be held they go to Natsu.
Both times when the kids arrived the spirits were very eager to meet then but waited, except for Aquarius, she used her own energy, and brought gifts, but she also said they were very ugly.
Even though Natsu and Lucy don't have other kids, they would be parental figures to any lonely children who come across their life, and are the favorite uncle and aunt for most of the guild kids.
Gruvia
They have three at max, none planned as Gray was insecure about being a parent.
Gray cried at every single birth.
Juvia is a boys mother and is very jealous of all her kids.
Gray is the parent who puts then on tracks, and so he receives all the hate.
Greige was born months before Nasha, and has the shy nature of his mother .
The middle child is a girl, and if they have a third one would be a boy.
The girl is the princess of the house and is very spoiled, she has Gray infinite devotion.
Gajevy
Those two have at least five. None was planned.
As in the twin trouble novel Asuka seems to be at her mid/late teens, and the twins look six at most, I believe they are not the firsts but the second to born (I couldn't read the full novel to know more).
The first one is a girl, definitely born to defy Gajeel in every possible way, going further enough to ask Natsu some Dragon slayer tricks.
The twins are much more level headed than the firstborn, but Yajee is more impulsive than Jutla.
The fourth and fifth kids are the mischief ones, doing mess and troubling Levy, they also have different magic from their parents.
The fourth and fifth are closer to Natsu and Lucy's boy due to age closeness. When the three are quiet for too long it means they are making some trouble.
Both Gajeel and Levy are good at controlling their kids, but Gajeel does it by being strict and Levy does by tricking the kids, it works better with the more hot-headed ones.
All their kids know that Gajeel is soft-hearted about them getting hurt, so if they do trouble they come crying for him first, because if Levy learns she will be angry, and an angry Levy is a scary one.
Jerza
They only have one child
They are both scared of having children, cus of their bad childhood, Jellal never interacted much with kids and Erza tends to scare them.
Both are very protective.
Their son was an accident that happened on their honey moon.
Was a happy accident though.
He is very smart and takes after Jellal more, being closer to Erza on the aspect of being a good leader.
He is closer to age to the oldest of Gajeel and Levy, so the duo control the kids brawls in the guild hall.
The boy is also very independent from a young age, and Jellal is always scared of not being present enough for him.
Erza tries to be subtle but she loves to say how proud she is of her boy.
As Erza gets older she takes after Makarov when she becomes the master and develops a kind of motherly feeling to the younger generations of the guild, so subtlety she gets a lot of kids.
CobraxKinana
Have only one boy, who very fiercely loves Fairy Tail.
They have him some years after their wedding, the kid would be closer to the twins age.
Cobra didn't want kids, as they make much noise, but accepts because of Kinana, so he would be one of few planned ones.
She is a very dedicated mother, and the type who only stopped working when was due to labor, and returned very early on too.
Kinana would come to work with the baby wrapped in cloth like a kangaroo and it was the sweetest sight at the guild.
Elfgreen
They have two, I don't care gender.
In a very cartoonist way one is the spitting image and personality of Elfman, and the other of Evergreen.
Evergreen loves to brag about how awesome and handsome her kids are.
She also likes to dress up then, uncle Bixlow likes too.
Elfman engages in any stupid ideas the kids have.
Both kids are scared of Laxus, and he got offended by it.
Mira spoils her nephews/nices a lot, but none the parents have the guts to ask her to stop, so anytime the kids wants something and the parents don't give, they run to aunty Mira.
As the kids grew Elfman and Ever become the type of parents that the kids ask them to grow up.
Bonus:
Characters I believe would be a single parent, either by adoption, having a child without contacting or knowing the father, or the child simply appears years later (like Cana to Gildarts).
Cana: adopted.
Bixlow: simply appeared, no one questions who the mom is, just how the kid will survive .
Laki: def don't know the father.
Lyon: appeared.
Kagura: adopted two girls from Mermaid Heel.
Hibiki: adopted, but everyone suspects the blood relation.

Okay headcanon time.
So for ages I’ve always wondered whether magic can be inherited or not. So like if your parents are powerful wizards chances are you’ll be one too. So the main reason I've always thought this is due to the fact that whenever you see a powerful character and are then introduced to a family members of theirs, that family member is as powerful or more so.
And I have examples. But I am gonna put a read more cause this is gonna get looooooong.
There's also gonna be spoilers beyond this point if you haven't watched the anime or read the manga.
So first off Laxus is a powerful wizard, he's an s-class wizard at a young age. While you could always say that that is due to his lacrima, I've always believed him to have the potential for powerful magic but because he was born sickly he could never fully achieve it. But then you look at his family and both his dad and grandfather are both powerful wizards. I mean Makarov is a wizard saint, not many get more powerful than that. Even looking back further, while we don't see the full extent of Yuri's magic in action he does appear to be somewhat powerful from the get go.
Then we move onto Cana. Guildarts is considered the most powerful member of Fairytail, the top ranked S-class mage who was even allowed to try a 100 years quest. Cana has shown multiple times how powerful she is, she's the only person in the guild whos been able to wield fairy glitter.
Then we have Erza, now from the very beginning Erza is shown to be an absolute powerhouse, from meeting her it would be easy to assume that she gained her power through grit and determination. However, we are then introduced to one Irene Belserion. Now Irene is cast as a pretty badass person from the start so you can definitely see where Erza gets parts of her personality from. Magically speaking Irene is said to be one of the top members of the spriggan twelve. Now when we first meet a member of the spriggan twelve we meet Brandish who is most likely one of the less powerful ones, but still her magic is described as overwhelming, so Irene's magic must be even more so.
Now Lucy is an interesting case, while Layla did in fact open (and likely closed) the eclipse gate on her own when it required both Lucy and Yukino to do so later, she (if I remember correctly) also had a pre-existing condition which made her magic less powerful? That being said it's shown that she was already a remarkable wizard and even held the respect of Aquarius who seems to have taken her death very hard. Going further back though we also have Anna Heartfilia, Lucy's ancestor. She's described as being one of the most powerful celestial spirit mage of all time.
Now finally while we don't ever learn about their parents or see if either was canonically powerful. I feel it's safe to assume that at least one of their parents was quite powerful. Natsu and Zeref are revealed to be canonically siblings. Now before we get this reveal you would assume that Zeref is only that powerful because of how long he's been alive for and has accumulated that power over the centuries. But we can then assume that he was already pretty powerful at a young age, I imagine had things worked out he would've used the eclipse gate himself instead of teaming up with Anna. We also see that Natsu is already one of Fairytail's powerhouses (honestly why he's not S-class yet is something I'll never understand). So I can imagine that the both of them had the potential for being powerful wizards long before either of them cast their first spell.
Whew. okay I'm done, I'm sorry this got so long, it's been bugging me for so long. I do want to stress that this may not be 100% accurate but this is just my own interpretation and headcanon.
But yeh let me know what you think and if you want to add anything else to this go ahead, I'm always interested to hear what others have to say.

More random Fairy Tail hcs
When i said Lucy has Zodiac freckles, I meant actual freckles, not magical.(although that is a very pretty picture and i do love it)
She was born with those specific patches, she has yet to make the connection, but her mother did
also she a perfectionist, she gets upset when she cant do things first try
After running away its mellowed slightly but she still refuses to accept and will keep trying until shes at the very least pretty decent
Laxus cant swim
he says its bc of his magic but he just never learned, he tried, and failed numerous times
Erza is allergic to raspberries
she learned this when her bakery was out of strawberry cake so she decided to try something new
that was the last time she did.
also she had braces as a younger teen
Mira has been been arrested a certain number of times she will not disclose, at least 3 tho
Levy used to headbutt people, growing up it lessened but it still happens
Freed cant ride a skateboard
that may be obvious and something you would never think about
but i needed to put the vision in your head of him falling off one
Gray was the clumsiest kid, he could NOT walk more than 5 feet without tripping
Contrary to popular belief, Fairy Tail is an official guild so Makarov has to keep records; Be it property damage, renovations, past jobs and who took them, and personal (criminal and medical) records
When he goes through the personal ones the amount of times he says “oh wow” is concerning (hes weirdly proud tho)
Gildarts always brings something back from his trips for Cana, sometimes its really cheesy father daughter things
Cana acts like it annoys her but she really does love it
Natsu 100% wears light up sketchers
im not sure how old Bickslow was when he joined the guild but he was illiterate up until after he joined
i like to think Makarov taught him with the help of Levy and Erza
Evergreen has perfect posture
idk why i felt this was important but it is
like actually, perfect
its upsetting
also she has two fake teeth, one of her canines (?) and one of her bottom very front teeth

ft members x reader comfort
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: how the fairy tail members (as many as u can put or are willing to put so long as the main characters and dragon slayers are included.. + sting cause why not) would react to you being upset over a friend who you care a lot about finding a new friend group and brushing you aside. like what would they say or do to comfort you? CW: none this is just fluff and comfort AN: this was adorable anon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natsu: I can see Natsu being confused at first over why you were upset over your friend meeting other poeple. He’d brush it off as well saying something like “Well, why not be friends with them too?” It wouldn’t be until after Lucy smacks some sense into him that he realizes the truth about why you’re upset. He and Happy would go try and find something they know you really like so they could bring a smile on your face. If books are your thing, he’d ask Levy to find the rarest book she could in order to gift it to you.
Gray: Gray is less oblivious than Natsu and I can totally see him trying to figure out a way to cheer you up, but feeling incredibly awkward about it. He’d eventually murmur “I’m sorry to hear about your friend. You can do better than them, though. You have us” and take you for some ice cream.
Lucy: Out of team Natsu, she is the most caring. She’d be the one to give you a big hug and tell you that your family in the guild will always be there for you. Lucy also wouldn’t let you mope around alone, either. She’d take you to her apartment and make dinner for you. Her, Natsu, Happy and you would also play card games to get your mind off of everything.
Erza: Erza would try to tell you that everything is okay, but she’d probably accidentally say it way too bluntly, inadvertantly upsetting you. “Why are you so upset over someone who clearly doesn’t care about you?” And then have to find a way to make it up to you, most likely in the form of sweets. She isn’t heartless, and apologizes for coming off as brash.
Wendy: She would 100% cry with you. While she may not have much advice on this situation, Wendy would be the one there for you to hug and cry with.
Laxus: Laxus is another one who is pretty blunt when it comes to giving advice. He’d tell you the same thing Erza did, but wouldn’t apologize. He’d shrug and say “you can either be upset that they’re bailin’ on you, or you could spend time here with people who actually care for ya.”
Gajeel: Gajeel would sing you a song and play guitar. He thinks he is doing a great job of cheering you up, but in reality your poor ears hurt and you smile because the gesture is sweet. He’d also ask if you wanted to go for a walk to get some air.
Sting: Sting would pepper you in compliments to cheer you up. Did you make food today? “Wow angel, you’re the best cook ever!” “Hey, thanks for picking that item up. You’re the best.” Anything you could do, he’d find a way to compliment you for it. When you finally confront him over the constant compliments, he’d shrug and tell you “you looked real sad, so I figured I’d tell ya that you’re appreciated with everything you do.”

Just My Thoughts Pt. 7
Natsu’s Growth
I’ve been disappointed a few times at how Hiro Mashima writes his characters and plot. But never have I ever been as disappointed as I was when I read this panel in the 100 YQ.
For reference, Natsu made a joke about disinfecting Lucy’s burns. It was not even a funny joke. I don’t think anyone laughed. Lucy was burned after trying to calm Natsu who consumed Ignia’s flames to battle against the water dragon god. While he did succeed in the fight, he lost control of himself and was stumped by the flames.
Tumblr media
This is such a disappointing situation when it comes to Natsu and his development as a character. Everything he experienced in the original manga/anime is put to shame. It’s like his growth as a person disappeared into thin air. I mean come on!! Is Mashima being serious right now?! Because am I supposed to believe this is the same Natsu who wouldn’t let Gray use Ice Shell on more than one occasion?! Natsu knows the consequences of Ice Shell and refuses to let that happen to Gray no matter how dire the circumstances are. Even though Gray and Natsu would never admit it, their relationship is unique and filled with love. They may be rivals and opposite (considering the ice/fire, demon/devil slayer attributes) but their friendship has grown so much since the start of Fairy Tail. Doesn’t this show how considerate Natsu is?! How important the lives of his friends is to him?
Tumblr media
If that isnt enough here’s another example. When Erza was sacrificing herself in the Tower of Heaven arc, Natsu refused to let her go and eventually saved her. Erza is important to him and Fairy Tail. He wants her to live on. Doesn’t this show how much Natsu cares about everyone?! Is he making a joke about Erza?! No he isn’t.
Tumblr media
Okay fine those examples aren’t about Lucy right, so why does it matter?! Because Natsu would never joke about burning his friends, accident or not. And if it’s about Lucy, then most definitely not. Lucy is probably the member of Fairy Tail he cares about the most (aside from Happy). When Future Lucy died, Natsu almost went completely rogue (pun intended, if you know what I mean). He even stated that something precious was taken from him. Furthermore, when Lucy was “dead” during the Alverez arc, Natsu lost it. Literally, he became END, the demon everyone fears, the strongest creation of Zeref, the black wizard. Lucy’s life was so important to him that without it, there was nothing holding him back. He even stated that he can’t be stopped after having flashbacks about her supposed death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natsu couldn’t care less about the world ending. He wanted to fight the people that made Lucy cry. That’s what he was focused on. And so after all this, Mashima wants me to believe that Natsu would joke about burning Lucy?! Yeah, I don’t think so. After everything Natsu went through, he would’ve at least felt guilty. Considering that it was Lucy of all people he burned, he would’ve apologized over and over again. Why?! Because she’s so important to him. He literally became a demon when he thought she died!! Isn’t that proof enough?! I also think that he would feel so grateful to her. This isn’t the first time Lucy helped Natsu control himself. She’s always there for him. But Natsu has never lost control like this before. Did Natsu ever properly thank Lucy for saving by rewriting the book of END?! He’s literally only alive because of her. She tampered with a demonic force and black magic yet Lucy is so damn under appreciated that it pains me!!
If the goal was to lighten the situation considering the intensity of the battle against the water dragon god and Ignia’s involvement, a joke that doesn’t make Lucy’s burn seem pathetic would’ve been better. A joke about anything else would’ve been better. Seriously, Lucy knew the consequences of trying to stop Natsu, especially when noting that she was scared of his flames for the very first time. She did anyway because she cares about Natsu and knows that she can help him, even if it means she will get burned. I would also like to note that Lucy never actually saw Natsu as END. She arrived after he gained some sense of control. Considering everything, if Hiro Mashima doesn’t make up to me by having her fear of Natsu’s flame and her lack of experience with END play into the story I’m gonna be so mad. Since he already disappointed me with how he’s treating Lucy’s injury/burn, I really hope he plays the rest of the story properly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m very disappointed in how not only Natsu’s character is being portrayed and downgraded, but also how Lucy is yet again the butt of the joke. She does so much for her team and friends but is always ignored (I’m still upset about Aquarius’ sacrifice that’s not talked about enough).
Thank you for listening.

It feel a little bit weird rereading the first chapters of Fairy Tail and seeing how Natsu used to find Lucy kinda annoying when you're used to an ultra-protective Natsu who will always put Lucy's happiness and safety first.
It show how much their relationship has evolved <33

When you first joined Fairy Tail, you also had brought your younger brother along too as he was the only family you have after both of your parents died after an attack in the town you lived.
Your brother. James, was a constant troublemaker, constantly pissing off and insulting the people around him like no trouble.
It constantly got him into trouble and you always had to apologize and reason with the person sometimes.
Sometimes they let it go, but other times other people would get pissed off like badly.
Like when you first arrived at Fairy Tail, James immediately insulted the guild master, Makarov for his height.
Even though Makarov was pissed, he didn't let it get to him as he knew James was only a child without a filter.
Even though James enjoys causing trouble and insulting everyone, his target was always Natsu or Gray.
It seems he enjoys their reaction, and on how they can't do anything whenever you apologize to them for his actions.
But it was mostly Gray.
As James caught on more faster than anyone else that Gray had a crush with you.
So, he constantly mocked him.
He knows Gray can't get mad whenever you apologize.
But there was one person Gray can't tease or mocked, and it was Erza as he found her scary.
Natsu, Happy and James often argued about food and such, or Natsu being pissed off whenever James pulls a prank on him.
And when Lucy came along, she became Jame's no.2 target when it comes to his pranks.
Wendy could stand up for herself when it comes to James but had trouble to properly say it so Carla sometimes had step in.
The guild, though they found annoying of James troublesome actions, didn't mind as it brought more life in the guild.
And they couldn't get mad at you, whenever you go off apologizing to every person that James insulted.
Natsu relationship was the same as everyone else, you two were on friendly terms and constantly snitched whenever James made trouble without you knowing.
He likes seeing the little brat being put on timeout.
Erza and Lucy were like your sisters, you two went out and made sure the boys babysit James whenever they saw you tired and needing a break.
They made sure, you have fun and enjoy your life without James troublesome attitude.
And sometimes even babysit James themselves whenever you need time for yourself.
Wendy, was the same story along with Lucy and Erza
As for Gray..
You two became a couple just after an year you joined the guild along with your brother.
You two became close as you two ice make mages.
You helped each other out, and give tips to each other.
The two of you trained together, and Gray helped to improve your ice make skills as he was much more experience than you were.
Gray grew to become fond of you as you two grew closer.
Eventually catching feelings for you.
He confessed when the guild was playing truth or dare.
It was party for the guild's founding anniversary, and he became jealous when one of the members dared another to kiss your cheek.
Gray was jealous as hell and after the party, he confessed. He couldn't bear the thought of another man's lip anywhere near yours.
You accepted it making Gray feel overjoyed at your answer.
And when James saw you two began dating.
It was like the two began to feud for your attention.
James was a clingy younger brother, as you were the only he had left and his older sister and sorta mother figure to him.
Of course, he would jealous that another man was stealing his sister's attention.
It was like two began to secretly compete over your attention.
Even if James was three years old, Gray would constantly be at odds with him.
Like both of them were grown ass man.
Well one was.
But the both of them came into a agreement of protecting you from other people, especially men.
James would use his troublesome tactics whenever someone tries to flirt with you.
Or by saying outright "Mama! Papa is here!" While pointing at Gray who was coming over.
They would set their differences aside just to protect you from other men, even though you were cable of doing so yourself.

Little Lost Kitten: Nalu Oneshot
It's old but I'm still proud of this lil shit :D I did this when I was 17 so... yeah :D
Summary: Natsu leaves a sleeping, drunk Lucy for one moment and she disappears. Worried sick, he frantically looks for her through the inn.
Words: 2800+
"Natshu~!" Lucy whined and poked the pinkette's face, the alcohol thick on her breath. "Scatch under my chin!" She was tucked under Natsu's arm while his other shoveled food into his mouth.
"N-no! Sthay sthill! I'm eating!" Natsu said, grabbing her hand that was poking his red food-filled cheeks and placed it gently back on her lap. Anything to distract himself from her.
She pouted cutely, her bottom lip protruding out. "Fine, then I'll just have to feed you myself!" She grabbed a fork that was nearby and stabbed a small chunk of the roast beast that the workers of the bathhouse had brought in for them and leaned into his face.
"Now, open up~" She purred and shoved the morsel into his agaped mouth.
"Luc-!" He nearly choked on the bite for she had shoved the utensil much too far. He coughed a bit and chewed slowly. Although Lucy feeding him was something he's daydreamed about, this is not what he imagined it to be like. She and the girls had gotten into the booze again while he and the other men of the guild had been in the sauna, the alcohol turning her into a "Cuddly kitty". She always got weird when she was drunk. Well, weirder. She would latch herself onto his arm, or any appendage for that matter, and would start purring and behaving like a cat.
Although he had to admit that it wasn't that he didn't like the experience. In fact, it was quite the opposite, he enjoyed any and every moment he had with her like always, it's just that… He wasn't used to Luce acting like this. Usually, he was the more direct, cuddly one and she'd just either brush him off or accept his actions, not her being this… this flirting cutie. He didn't know what to expect or how to act.
"Here comes another one~," She cooed, a fork with another chunk of meat nearing his mouth in her little hand. She had situated herself in his lap kneeling in front of him while he sat criss-cross. Her dark brown eyes were half-lidded as she looked back up at him dreamily, her dark eyelashes fluttering. Her soft, peachy lips pursed into a soothing smile. Her cheeks were rosy either from her actions or her drunken state. The light blue bathrobe was now sliding ever so slightly off her shoulder showing a delightful amount of creamy skin…
Mavis, she's gonna be the death of me, He thought.
"Say ah~" She said waiting for him to swallow the first bite she had given him, slightly impatient. He had been so awestruck by her that he has forgotten to finish chewing. He gulped dumbly and opened his mouth and closed his lips around the food hesitantly. She leaned back slightly and hummed, satisfied with his cooperation. His cheeks flushed even more so. Mavis, she is just too cute.
"Good kitty-kitty..." She praised. She threw the fork aside and wrapped her arms around his neck and patted his pink head, slow and gentle. She slowly began to put even more of her weight on him as she fell asleep and slumped heavily on his chest.
He immediately relaxed when he was sure that she was asleep as he heard her slow breathing. "Finally…" He whispered softly, he didn't know how much longer he would have lasted with her behaving like that. It would be the end of him for all he knew.
He sighed. "C'mere you." He scooped her up in his arms and laid back against the pillows that were piled behind them. The blond's slow warm breath blew past his neck where she was nestled, sending a shiver down his spine. He turned his head over and noticed Happy was passed out on a plush violet pillow beside him and chuckled. He gently picked up the exceed and placed him on Lucy's back.
A slow rumbling that he had been suppressing for the past half hour had started to vibrate in his chest. He chuckled, the sound coming out in chuffs from his purring. This is what the blond had been wanting the whole time. All dragons purr, same with their dragon slayer counterparts, each purr different depending on the individual. Natsu, in his case, tried to keep this from happening as much as he could. It was quite embarrassing. Imagine if any of the other guild members found out. Lucy, Happy, and any other dragon slayer are the only ones who knew about purring as far as he knew, and he and the others wanted to keep it that way. But with the celestial mage that he was so enamored with around, who made him so happy, it became even harder to suppress...
Just as he was about to settle himself to sleep, he noticed an important detail.
Shit!
I have to pee! Fuck!
He groaned in frustration for realizing so late. Who knew when he was going to get a moment like this with her again! And yet, his bladder was screaming for him to get up, especially with Lucy laying on him. Muttering some curses, he maneuvered the blond beauty and the blue exceed off him so that they were curled up on the pile of pillows comfortably.
Lucy laid there, Happy cradled in her arms as she cuddled him. She looked so beautiful. He smiled softly as a lock on golden hair fell across her face as she shifted. A large, warm and calloused hand moving to remove it before he could even stop himself. He reached forward and tucked the lock behind her ear and let his hand remain there a bit longer, marveling at how soft her cheeks and hair were. How could someone be so soft? He laughed at her dreamy expression, drool was falling from her lips.
Sadly, his bladder couldn't remain as it was and he really needed to go. Clearing his throat, he retracted his hand away from her face and stood up. He sighed and quickly dashed towards the door, locking it behind him to make sure that no one disturbed his two precious treasures.
Little did he know that the handle of the door slammed as he locked it, it rattled the room. A glass of water tipped over on the blond who snorted as she woke. "Wha…?"
She sat up, Happy still asleep in her arms as she searched the room, looking for any sign of the pink-haired dragon slayer.
"Natshu…? Where'd you go?" She whimpered, alcohol still in her system although she had passed out. She lost her balance a bit as she stood but regained it as she leaned on the mural of cranes in a field with mountains in the back of the wall next to her. Holding the sleeping exceed in one hand, her other opened the door and wandered out. Her petite frame disappearing through the candlelit hallway searching for her "kitty".
🔥🗝
Natsu splashed water on his face from the sink to cool himself. Steam came off his heated body and fogged the mirror in front of him. He sighed, tilted his pink head back and closed his eyes. Even this far away from her she still affected him so. He just could never get her out of his head. The whole time he was with her, he had to restrain himself. Whenever she would go close to his face he had to hold himself back from kissing her. She was so close. He could've kissed her like he always wanted. But he could never do something like that to her, he loved her too much. She was drunk for Mavis's sake!
He needed to think of something else. He needed to distract himself. The scented candles that were burning his nose were driving him crazy, so he swallowed their flames just because. He was also still hungry… He flushed, maybe Lucy would feed him again if she woke up...
Speaking of which he needed to back to the celestial mage.
He pushed the door and walked out and through the halls to the room where they were staying-
Wait… Why was the door open?
"Shit! Lucy!" Panic coursed through him as he bolted into the room. He scrambled around the room, flinging pillows left and right in case she had burrowed into them. He frantically called her name but he could find no sign of her and flew out the door in search. He sniffed the air, she couldn't be far. "Lucy! Lucy, where are you?!"
"Geez," Natsu muttered, his fingers again weaving through his tousled pink locks. "I'm gone for five minutes to go to the bathroom and she wanders off!" He sprinted throughout the hallways of the bathhouse, nearly flying as he slipped on rugs, searching for any sign of the tipsy blonde.
He sighed and shook his head to clear his thoughts on how rosy her soft cheeks were or how her chocolate eyes looked so dreamlike...He had to find her, who knows what she could've gotten into! He honestly shouldn't have left her alone in the first place! As strong and powerful as she was, she was vulnerable right now. Oh Mavis, what if anyone else found her like this?!
A woman in a simple white uniform walked past him with a cart filled with towels. He skidded to a stop, "Ma'am, have you seen a pretty blond girl come through?! She has big brown eyes and is about this tall?!" He held his hand where she stood approximately, near the exact middle of his ribs.
"O-oh, uh," The woman started, she was caught off guard by the man who looked like he may have had a heart attack or may be going through one at the moment, she wasn't sure. Hope began to fill him for a moment "I'm not sure, sir, but I will let you know if I find her-."
"If you do find her, just keep her in one place!" Natsu interrupted, already nearing to the corner as he sprinted. "Make sure she won't wander off again!"
He turned and saw steam rise from a room across his way. Of course! She's probably in the steam room! She loves being warm!
Not realizing that he had walked into the girl's steam room.
"Lucy?! Lucy, you in here?!" He called as he burst into the hot place. Women started shrieking and running away. He blushed darkly and covered his eyes. Luckily they all had towels wrapped around them, he didn't want to see them naked. He just wanted to find his Luce. "Hey have any of you ladies seen a pretty blond come around?! Her name is Lucy Heartfilia! I'm looking for her, it's really important!"
"Hell no, creep!" A girl on his left shrieked. He heard something whizz past his head and ducked. Why were they so mad? He didn't see anything and it wasn't like he came in here to peek on them.
"So, I'm taking that you haven't seen her?"
"Get the fuck out of here, asshole!"
"Alright, sorry for coming in! If you see her, tell me!" And he dashed back out the room. Okay, so she wasn't in there, where else could she possibly be-
His blood ran cold, yet the air around him filled with blistering heat. He clenched his fist, his knuckles turning white.
Oh, Mavis.
She could have wandered into the men's room.
"Those motherfuckers! I'll fucking cremate them!" he roared so loudly that it was heard throughout the whole entire bath house, enraged with everything.
He could just see it. She'd be wandering around when some perverted piece of shit would just take her. He's seen and heard what all the bastards would talk about in the bathhouse. Just imagining her in the arms of someone else filled him with blinding hot fury. She's not in the right mind to defend herself and kick their ass like she usually does whenever a pervert catcalls or even tries something on the streets! And he's not there to make sure she's alright! He's so fucking dumb! He unknowingly left burnt footprints in his wake, most caught on fire completely.
He kicked the men's door off its hinges, sending it flying to who knows where. "Which one of you fuckers have her?!" His robe nearly burning off of him. He was breathing heavily from all the stress and tension in him. He glared at every single one of the men in the room and if looks could kill, they would've been murdered one hundred times over. The few men he recognized was Max, Warren, Nab, Jet, and Droy, all the men had jumped out of the boiling water and huddled together and shook with fear as temperature raised higher and higher.
When Natsu didn't get an answer he advanced forward. "Well?!"
The first one to speak was Max. "Well, uh, who exactly are you looking for?" he said in a quiet and trembling voice.
"What do you mean 'who'?! It's Lucy! Where is she?!"
"Natshu? Ish that you?"
Time seemed to freeze. He turned around, the temperature of the room dropping almost immediately as he saw she was just standing the burnt doorway. She held Happy who was sleeping in her arms like a dolly. Her gorgeous brown eyes gazed back up at him as if she was dreaming. Her robe was starting to fall off her shoulder, Happy probably was the only thing that held her robe up. She had heard him while he was on his rampage and followed his voice.
He couldn't possibly describe how relieved he was.
"Oh Mavis, Lucy!" He went up and wrapped his arms his around her tightly while securing the knot of her robe and resetting it to cover her. He didn't want them seeing her. He was surprised that the little exceed has not woken up, Natsu was probably crushing him in their bear-hug.
"Why'd you leave the room?" He asked gently. While he still had his arms around her, one hand cupped her cheek tilted it up to look him in the eye, thumb idly rubbing the spot just underneath her eye. He checked her over for any possible injuries. His look of absolute worry surprising the other men who were still in shock of their near-death experience.
Lucy yawned and rubbed her eyes cutely like a child. "I was trying to find you. Where were you?"
Natsu smiled softly at her, a warmth that he could only get around her swelling within him. She was looking for him, she wanted to find him. "I was just going to the bathroom, weirdo. I was going to come back."
Lucy only hummed in reply and leaned on Natsu, who couldn't be happier to do so.
"C'mon, let's go back to the room."
"Carry me?" She mumbled as she leaned on him for support, she was so tired. She raised her arms and opened and closed her little hands in a 'Gimme' sort of fashion.
This again, he thought as he could only smile. "Alright, just make sure you hold on to me, okay?" He lowered himself so that he scooped her up under her knees and around her back. She hummed softly and tried to even snuggle closer to him. He laughed at her antics.
"Comfy?"
"Mmmm…"
Dude, you're so fucking whipped.
A voice echoed in his head, his face turning a rosy hue as he nearly out the door. He turned around to see Warren giving him a thumbs up and while the other guildmates made kissy faces and posed way too dramatically. Embarrassed beyond words he only mouthed "Fuck you" back at them, as to not wake Lucy, and rushed out the door. He couldn't deal with them now.
He started to retrace his steps back to where the room was, which was pretty easy considering that he left a trail of burnt footprints. Now that he wasn't in his "Gotta-find-Lucy" Frenzy, he noticed that the spa was truly quite fancy. And to think that it was Gramps, who was always worried about money, was who paid for the trip for all the guildmates. They were even staying the Night! He heard a giggle from his arms and looked to see Lucy smiling back up at him with a victorious yet sleepy smile.
"You're purring~" She whispered, poking his chest with one hand as the other was still holding Happy. Sure enough, the low rumble was reverberating through him. He had not even noticed, he was trying to remember which room was theirs until he finally pushed opened the door then kicked it closed. He walked to the middle of the room and placed her gently upon the pillows.
He smiled, "Yeah… I guess I am."
She giggled again and pulled him down beside her. She hugged him tightly, petting his head sweetly.
"You're my kitty, Natshu…" she whispered softly and with one final pat on his head, she curled up against him.
Hearing the statement made his heart soar. He almost wanted to jump up and shout at the top of his lungs and do a happy dance, the only thing that kept him from doing so was the celestial mage in his arms.
"And you're my Luce, Luce." He whispered as he too curled up to sleep for the night.

Lucy and each member of Team Natsu sparring headcanons? :D
This is gonna be fun and longgg! I wish we had more training stuff with them
Natsu
He challenges her all the time but whenever Lucy is down, he changes his mind
It drives her nuts. So one day Lucy walks up to him in the training room and just decks him
Natsu is gobsmacked. He cannot believe she hit him
But then he hits her with that grin and its on
They know each other so well that the fight lasts a crazy long amount of time
Natsu has the experience perk, but Lucy also knows he's holding back a little cause he doesn't wanna hurt her (well not too bad at least) and she uses it to her advantage
A crowd forms and start rooting for who they think will win. (Cana is taking bets)
Neither of them use magic, it's not a rule but they are enjoying hand to hand too much to even think about it
Lucy ends up pinning Natsu and winning. He learns something about himself that day ;)
Gray
The first time they train together is because of a drunken bet
Gray makes a joke about how Lucy might use a bow and arrow now but he's way better at it
And Lucy will not take that lying down so she challenges him right then and there
Imagine two very drunk mages wielding bows and arrows, doing an absolutely terrible job at hitting anywhere near their targets
Gray eventually gives up and freezes her bow
Then they just start physically fighting. It's sloppy and neither of them is doing a very good job, but they are trading blows for nearly an hour
Magic is on the table and Lucy is drunk enough to think using urano metria is good idea.
Gray straight up freezes her where she stands and takes his victory
Natsu had melt her and she was pissed for days about it
Erza
She finds out that the boys have trained with Lucy and is pissed. How dare Lucy not wanna spar with her??
So Erza is determined to get her chance, but Lucy is terrified.
Erza is scary after all
Eventually, Erza convinces Lucy to let her teach her how to sword fight
Lucy agrees but begs Erza to be gentle. (Erza agrees but is a filthy liar)
The lessons are hard and Erza has no mercy. Lucy actually takes to it pretty well, but she has to use her Taurus form to be able to match Erza's stregth
Lucy ends up really liking it and the girls make it a regular thing
Unfortunately, Erza learns that Lucy is very good at outsmarting her opponents. She's also not scared to play dirty
The first time Lucy manages to scratch Erza, the entire Guild falls silent in terror
Erza, of course, just laughs and charges forward
Soon Erza is dragging Lucy to Kagura to show off her skills and Lucy becomes part of the sisterhood
Erza always wins but Lucy puts up a good fight
Wendy
Lucy thought she'd be the one giving Wendy tips and tricks
And that's how it started at first, Wendy wanted to learn some hand to hand stuff but the others were too rough on her (she is still young and they forget that)
But Wendy has the dragon slayer strength and halfway through the session sends Lucy flying
Wendy freaks out and is apologizing like crazy, but now Lucy is all fired up
Wendy uses her size to her advantage and manages to get several more hits on Lucy
Then they start pulling out magic
Lucy uses her Scorpio form (and Scorpio) to combat Wendy's wind
No one knows who won because the girls ended up trashing half the guild hall and causing Master Makarov to have a breakdown
The rest of the guild nearly throw a party. It's a right of passage to trash the hall

Nalu Week 2024 Day 2: Firsts
Tumblr media
The thing with living a sheltered life is that when you’re finally on your own to live your life, you experience your firsts in a way that is a little less than conventional.
Lucy’s lived an abnormal life in every sense of the word. From heiress to guild wizard, she’s experienced things from two vastly different walks of life that most people can only dream of. While she has spent her life doing the extravagant, the daring, and the fantastical, little of her time has been spent doing the mundane. She doesn’t regret the life she’s chosen for herself, but some days, as she walks into her adult life as a twenty-something-year-old without having experienced some of what she had expected from her teen years, she wonders if she has been missing out.
Guild life makes her much too busy to find love, she discovers quickly, and getting a boyfriend falls to the wayside for the first few years in Fairy Tail. She doesn’t have the time to think about love and romance of her own when she’s busy fighting in wars and saving the world. While perhaps a younger Lucy would have been devastated heading into 20 without so much as having kissed a boy, those concerns felt trivial compared to all the things she had faced since leaving the Heartfilia estate she once called home.
Perhaps one day, in another timeline, missing out on those teenage firsts would be something that she would come to regret, but here, in this timeline, knowing who she gets to experience those firsts with, she knows she wouldn’t want it any other way.
The knock on her apartment door comes just as she’s putting on her lip gloss, and the timing couldn’t be any more perfect.
“Coming!” She calls out as she puts on her final touches.
That doesn’t seem to be enough for the man on the other side of the door, as he continues to rap at it, louder and more annoying this time.
“I said I’m coming!”
With a quick smack of her lips in the mirror, Lucy makes her way to the door, opening it to be met with Natsu on the other side. He doesn’t usually dignify her with knocking, but this is a special occasion, denoted by the way he’s donned in the single button down he owns and the droopy bouquet of flowers he holds in his hand.
“Hi,” she says, her cheeks set with a rising blush.
It’s just Natsu, but the circumstances are different from every other time he’s shown up at her front door, and even though she’s spent all afternoon trying to calm her nerves, she can’t help the way that her heart begins to beat faster in her chest at the sight of him.
“Hey,” he replies, and she swears that she sees the heat rise in his cheeks too.
It falls quiet between them for a moment as they both figure out what to say. Lucy purses her lips.
It’s just Natsu, she repeats to herself. It’s just Natsu.
This is the man she’s spent almost every day with since leaving home, her best friend in the whole world, and it shouldn’t be weird just because they’re going on a date.
It’s a long time coming, or so everyone around them says. It feels inevitable in some ways—not because he’s a guy and girls and guys can’t be as close as they are without falling in love, but because he’s Natsu. He’s certainly not the prince charming she had always imagined herself with, but now she can’t imagine herself with anyone else.
Now, as he stands at her door, ready for their first date, it feels like something that was always meant to be is coming to fruition.
“I got you these,” he says, holding the flowers out to her, his gaze flicking away bashfully for just a moment.
A few of them are a little droopy, and you can see at the bottom of the stems where they’ve been pulled from the ground, but it doesn’t matter because it’s a thoughtful gesture that’s getting their date started on the right foot.
“I saw 'em, and they made me think of you.”
It’s an assortment of pinks with a few white and pink petals in there too, and it’s all so sweet and so perfectly Natsu that all the nerves and embarrassment that had bubbled up below the surface dissipated in an instant. He grins at her with that wide smile that he always has, and she knows that there was never any reason to worry in the first place.
The gentle rush of the river besides them is a familiar sound, as is the soft blanket beneath them, but the way her head rests in Natsu’s lap and his fingers run through her hair is all new to both of them.
She can count on one hand the number of real first dates she’s been on, and she can safely assume that Natsu has been on even fewer, but somehow not even their combined lack of experience makes things awkward. It feels like the natural progression of things, like the soft tenderness and intimacy, is what has always been missing from their relationship.
That doesn’t mean it comes easy. It’s awkward for the first few moments as they try to figure out where boundaries lie, what makes this different from every other picnic by the river, and what lines they can or cannot cross. They hold hands on the way there, but Lucy’s flushing so hard that she can’t even look at him until he finally lets go to set out their blanket. She can see the implication of a blush on his face when he looks her way, and it makes her feel better to know that she’s not the only one who feels this way.
Awkward small talk, as though they hadn’t been best friends for years before now, quickly transitions into the same comfortable banter that they have become so accustomed to. It feels strangely… normal, like just any other day for them; the event only differentiated by their semi-formal attire and hand-picked flowers held in plastic picnic cups.
Had you asked her a few years ago, normal would not be the word she would have wanted to describe her first date as, but nowadays, Lucy’s normal is a bit different and everything she would have wanted it to be. When their post-lunch walk down the river ends with a splash, she can’t quite find it in herself to be upset.
☆☆☆
There’s a period of awkwardness that Lucy feels at the beginning of the relationship when it comes to affection. Natsu has always been a handsy guy, but the transition from years of fighting off his affections to suddenly accepting them doesn’t come as easy to her as it does him. They move at her pace, which Natsu is happy to comply with, even if it might be slower than one expects.
The first few weeks, they don’t push it further than hand-holding and the occasional arm around the waist. It breaks new ground when she finally initiates cuddles on the couch, and Natsu quite literally welcomes it with open arms. Cheek kisses aren’t uncommon for them, usually initiated by Lucy. She’s not quite sure if she’s ready to commit to the lips yet.
A first kiss is special, and even though she knows she’s found the right person, she doesn’t know if she’s found the right time yet. She wants it to be magical and romantic, like it reads in every romance novel she’s read. She wants to feel fireworks in her chest, and she wouldn’t be mad if there were real fireworks too. She’s planned a million and one scenarios in her head; it’s just a matter of which one she wants to play out in real life.
They’re still not quite there yet, but Natsu is content to have his arms wrapped around her as they laze around on the couch together. What began as his desire for her touch as she quietly read eventually transitioned into tangled limbs and soft affections. His hand gently rubs up and down her side—an action she has grown quite fond of since he first did it—and she listens intently as he tells her some story of a job he and Happy recently went on without her. She likes listening to him talk, enjoys it when he gets excited about the things he’s telling her. His passion is one of the things that draws her to him, and she’s lucky to see that the flame inside him never dwindles. He’s so cute in moments like this that it just makes her heart ache.
In a moment of infatuation, she leans over to press her lips against his cheek, the way she has become increasingly accustomed to in the past few weeks. She aims just above the line of his jaw, but going that low proves her fatal flaw, as in that very moment Natsu turns his head and she finds her lips accidentally pressing against his.
The feeling of it practically has her jumping out of her skin, and she immediately pulls away in shock. The action seemingly catches Natsu off guard too, based on the wide-eyed look he gives her when she desperately pulls herself away from his grasp.
“What the hell?” he says to her, bewildered. “If you wanted to kiss, you could have just asked.”
“T-that wasn’t what I was trying to do!” She exclaims.
Her cheeks are flushed a deep red, and she doesn’t have to see it to know because she can feel the heat spread across her face. Her heart is pumping so fast, and her entire body is filled with adrenaline to the point where it takes her a moment to process what just happened.
“I was trying to kiss your cheek, and then you turned around, and I accidentally kissed your lips!” She tries to explain, but the words tumble out of her mouth haphazardly, and she can only hope that Natsu understands.
It might possibly be the most mortifying moment of her entire life, and even as she stutters out her explanation, she can’t quite find it in herself to meet Natsu’s gaze.
There are no take-backs on first kisses, so instead she just has to accept the highly characteristic one she got and hope that maybe part two will be more characteristic of her than him. She will get over it someday, but she just needs to mope about it for now.
☆☆☆
The feeling of her nails dragging along Natsu’s scalp elicits a contented whine from his lips that gets swallowed up by Lucy’s own. His hands rest on her back, holding her close to him as they rest chest against chest. Their legs are intertwined in the sheets, while their lips meld against each other.
She’s past the point of being shy about it, much to Natsu’s delight. She had quickly come to learn that kisses are Natsu’s favourite form of affection, from gentle pecks to something a little more involved, like now. He’s a little bit sloppy, a little bit primal, but behind closed doors, it’s something she’s grown to love because it is so quintessentially Natsu.
In a moment of fervour, he bites down on her lip, and it’s enough to have her jolting back from the kiss. It was ever so gentle, but she can taste the blood drawn from her lip and feel the small wound as she runs her tongue over the affected area. He seems to notice her affliction, and a look of soft guilt crosses his face.
“Sorry,” he murmurs, and he leans back in to kiss it better.
He’s softer and gentler this time, littering her bottom lip with lots of small kisses. It makes her smile, and he takes that as permission to return to their steady pace of fingers tangled in hair and crescent moons marked on skin.
His chest presses against hers, and in the moment they both fall backwards, her back hitting the mattress and Natsu on top of her. It’s not a position they’ve never been in before, so it doesn’t change the pace or interrupt their rhythm. An earlier Lucy, a much more innocent, inexperienced Lucy, may have been mortified by their current position, but the current Lucy, the one locking lips with her lover, doesn’t seem to mind all that much.
He's a little more handsy than he usually is, but she chalks it up to a growth in his confidence. She’s not the only one learning things in this relationship. Each day together, Natsu learns more about love, affection, what he likes, dislikes. He may be more eager to jump in the deep end than she is, but that doesn’t mean he knows how to swim.
His hands explore beneath the hem of her shirt—not uncharted territory, but somehow this time it feels more intentional than the last. There’s a sense of hesitancy that she feels when he pulls away for just a second, but when she grabs his hair and pulls him back down, he lets them roam along mazes of scars on her soft, supple waist.
A surge of confidence must overcome him when his fingers dip below her waistband. A surge of something else must overcome her when she doesn’t stop him.
In the moment, all of it feels so natural to her that it almost doesn’t occur to her the step that they’re taking. Even when it sinks in as his jacket falls over his shoulders, she makes no move to stop it. There’s a part of her that’s scared of the ritual, years of fear instilled into her in whispers of shame, but when Natsu looks down at her with adoring eyes, any apprehension melts away in an instant.
She doesn’t mind if it’s with her best friend.
☆☆☆
There are many milestones one hits in a new relationship, but as Lucy finds out, not all of them are exactly ones that one might want to experience.
Disagreements between her and Natsu are not uncommon. They’re two very different people who both have very different ways of doing things, and while that is something that often brings the two together, sometimes it causes them to butt heads. It’s small things, mostly things that are generally inconsequential, that they can move on from rather quickly. They’ve been friends long enough that a minor disagreement isn’t going to cause any type of long-term fracture, but as Lucy comes to find out, not all disagreements are minor.
It happens for the first time a few months into the relationship after they have been lulled into a false sense of security that nothing could possibly go wrong.
She doesn’t remember what prompted it really. It happens in a blur of dirty dishes and unfinished laundry, and it feels like it’s all too much and yet nothing at all, but before she can even process it, they’re standing in her kitchen arguing like they’ve never done before.
Her nails dig into the palm of her hand, leaving crescent moon-shaped indents as she balls her hands up in fists by her side. Her hand quivers slightly in anger, but she tries to hold it in because, even though she’s frustrated, she doesn’t want to be angry at Natsu.
His arms are folded across his chest defensively, and his gaze can’t quite meet hers when she speaks to him. He doesn’t quite look like he’s even listening to her, and that kindles the flame of her discomposure even more. Though he starts out angry, he quickly shifts to disconnected and dismissive, and any attempt at productive conversation is dashed in that moment, and frustration boils over. She’s sure she’s drawn blood from the way she clenches her fist to try to stop the tears from falling, because she is not about to cry in front of Natsu over some stupid argument. Instead, she turns on her foot and leaves, cutting their argument off in its tracks.
To try and centre herself, she lets herself get lost in the ink of her journal to give them both space, but by the time she comes back to reality with the intention of smoothing things over, Natsu is nowhere to be found in the apartment.
It’s not like she’s necessarily surprised by it. Natsu’s never been good with emotional confrontation, but for some reason, looking over her shoulder from her desk to not see him there makes her heart ache.
She’s not even mad anymore; she just misses him.
It’s in that moment that she lets herself cry for letting this happen because, god, she loves him so much, and it shatters her heart that they can let something as stupid as this get between them. Her heart aches in her chest, but the only thing she knows can fix it is Natsu’s arms around her, and he’s not here, so instead she tries to find his comfort in the pillow on her bed that smells just like him.
The rest of the day is wasted away in tears until the evening, when a knock on the door draws her out of her self-pity.
Natsu’s attempt at reconciliation comes with the same droopy, handpicked flowers that he came with for their first date, and she meets him with all the love in her heart when her lips meet his.
When he sleeps on the couch that night, so does she.
☆☆☆
Lucy thought she already understood the phrase time flies when you’re having fun, but it doesn’t quite hit her until she’s flipping the page of their shared calendar and she finds a date marked in red. Scrawled in Natsu’s handwriting reads an almost legible anniversary, and for the first time, the passage of time smacks Lucy in the face like it never has before.
It feels like an eternity and a single day all wrapped up in one. The fact that it’s nearly been a whole year they’ve been together together doesn’t quite feel real because, on one hand, it feels like it only began yesterday, but on the other, it feels like it’s always been like this. She feels like perhaps she can attribute both to the long game of will-they-won’t-they that had them teetering on the verge for far too long.
It becomes real when they’re holding hands walking down the bank of the very same river they found themselves at one year ago today. Their hands swing between them, and the conversation flows between them as naturally as the water through the river besides them. He makes some stupid comment, and she laughs like it’s the funniest thing she’s ever heard, and he looks at her with such adoration in his eyes that one might think he’s falling in love with her all over again.
When he spots a stray flower sprouting among the grass, he gets on his knees and plucks it from the ground to give to her, and it’s just as romantic as the first time he did it. He collects each flower they pass until she’s got a whimsical bouquet in all the colours of the rainbow.
When sunset finally comes upon them and they make their way home, her anniversary bouquet is given a special spot in her apartment in memory of today. They sit proudly on display in a small vase by her bed to greet her every morning with the sunrise until they simply cannot any longer. The flutter of petals to the floor doesn’t bring her down because she knows inevitably they’ll be replaced with new ones, accompanied by the same grin she’s grown so fond of, plastered across Natsu’s face. A flower may not last a year, but she knows their love will last many more, and that’s enough for her.
As she watches Natsu make himself comfortable in her bed, she reflects back on the past year and thinks about how this is only the beginning. This is the start of what she knows is going to be the rest of her life, and when he catches her eye and smiles at her with all the love in the world, she knows that in finding her first, she’s also found her last, and she wouldn’t want it any other way.

I’m rereading the manga fast. ( the OG manga ) I used to hate Nalu. But after this reread. I realized their development. It is not in romantic terms. But in trust and acceptance. Which would be beautiful if lead to romance.
Natsu used to not care about if lucy got hurt or even dead but as things progress. He went from saying hurting my friend, to if you dare put scratch on lucy. When she’s around him he protect her first. And eventually he snaps when he thought she died.

He used to not believe in her strength, telling her to run. But later he began to support her whenever she lose or think bad about herself. Thanking her whenever she does help even slightly.

Lucy used to hit him and kick him off her house but later after that one year she let him in like it was normal. And actually missed his presence. Even if she got back to kick him again it is normal since they aren’t really in relationship.
As for lucy side. To her. natsu changed her. Completely from lost, weak girl. To someone who have place she called home and push her to strength herself. There was a lot of moments where lucy doubts her strength and self but natsu was always there for her. It come out naturally from him even without intention. He doesn’t realize how much this affects her.

As well i love the subtle moments, for example he counted a year since she joined the guild, he notice when she’s off. And he try to help her as much as he can when he feels she’s off. But it sad that they removed those moments as if they didn’t happen. Then he left and didn’t talk about it properly when he comeback. Those moments were undeveloped and forgotten. But their trust and acceptance stayed. They improve and support each other. To me that’s the beauty of their relationship. I don’t care if they are canon lovers or just friends. Nalu is Nalu.
I think that’s why eventually hiro stuck with not making them obviously in love. They are different. They don’t need to change. They don’t need love. They have more than that.
